The first you see is the fishing gear hanging on pins left of the doorway. The librarian is a bit fishing obsessed so he has brought some fishing equipment if time lets him explore the great lake’s fishing possibilities. The next thing you feel is cozy warmth emanating from the roaring fire place nearby. Remembering the chilliness of the halls and rooms in the castle from his years here Mr Kitridge has taken steps to see too that at least one place is warm and comfortable. In the center of the office you see what should be a desk under all the stuff currently placed on it like charts, crammers, stacks of books, an odd telescope or crystal ball and last but not least a big bowl of candy. Behind the desk, a large comfy chair with a pillow in it is situated.
Hanging on the walls around the office are portraits of former notable librarians like Madam Pince, Madam Rowena, Angela Kohan, David Kapoor and Madam Donovan. The collection of portraits/photographs is completed with some Kitridges who've been successful in some way or other through the course of time. No office of a librarian is complete without a curvy s-shaped bookshelf.
OCC: I will not have an arrival thread so please don't clog up the thread with 'waiting to enter' posts. Have your character knock on the door and then wait for Mr Kitridge to allow you to enter or to come back later. If you have any questions or want to set up a meeting don't hesitate to PM or VM me.
"The author..." He tilted his head and looked up toward the ceiling. He clicked his tongue remembering the name. "Ian Fleming. Fleming with one M." Cutty noticed more books behind him and realized that the packing slip must have likewise been a significant size to have included all of these books. Cutty was questioning why they didn't accio it, but kept silent. Maybe Mr. Kitridge would issue some lil helper points by the end of it. And if not, he was hoping Professor Bellaire still held to her words: You let me know.
He could still hear them ringing clear in his mind.
"I should go and see her. She'd probably know quite a bit." Was the Moxinator muggle-born or did she just happen to find muggles fascinating? What if it was a Princess Degree?
His office was a mess. There were books everywhere and even though he was stacking the piles in alphabetic order with Cutty’s help he saw no sign off the parchment that had come along with the shipment. Leo was beginning to wonder if he had even gotten such a parchment when he stumbled over it lying at the bottom of a book pile, shoved in between the pages of a book he from this angle couldn’t read the title of. Exclaiming loudly and waving the parchment in the air. "Finally, I found it!" It was not a minute too soon. Scanning the content over whilst humming to himself Leo said to Cutty. "Look for books by the author Hughes, Albert Hughes. He is a rising magical author that has written quite a few good books on gardening and such."
Hearing the name of the author of the James Bond book, Leo raised his gaze to the ceiling for a moment as he tried to remember if the library held any books by that author but it was unlikely. "I'm sure Professor Moxley does. If she doesn’t have the book I’ll order it from the nearest muggle library."
Taking out his wand he mumbled under his breath as he cast a spell that stacked all the books in the room in neat piles. Work done Leo turned to Cutty again. "How is life otherwise? Are you getting along with your peers?"

He didn't come back for his seventh year due to personal reasons...and...we're a thing." As in, dating and all that jazz. "See? All dumb teenage girl stuff." She chuckled!sighed and just picked at a loose thread on her skirt, her cheeks turning red.
As the words poured out of Eden’s mouth all pertaining to matters of the heart Leo really wanted to sink through the floor and disappear. Why couldn't she have gone to one of the females on staff with this rather than him? Like Cassie, Nessa, Meredith? He was not a love expert just because he had a Head of House pin stuck to the front of his robes.
After taking an extra long sip he replied calmly. "One thing to take solace in is that you are young and that you’ll have plenty of chances to fall in and out of love as you continue to grow up Eden." Pushing away his lemonade glass for a moment Leo continued. "I'm sorry that your relationship with Pheonix ebbed out into nothing when he left school but this other boy you mentioned that stopped dating you, is he still going to Hogwarts? If he is then you can seek him out and tell him that you don’t want your relationship to end."

Cutty had been neatly stacking another and yet another pile of newly shipped books when he heard the Librarian shout out that he'd found what he was looking for. Unable to resist the urge, Cutty held a finger up to his mouth and whispered, "Shh! Mr. Kitridge. We're in a library." He was joshing, of course.
But good. Yes good. He'd found the packing slip parchment. Albert Hughes. Albert Hughes. New and it sounded as if he knew his stuff in Herbology. Could be worth a read himself. "Ah, helping out Headmistress Truebridge with her recommended reading for her lessons?"
He nodded when Kitridge offered to order the Bond books for him. "Thanks, Mr. Kitridge." He said with a smile. Then the Librarian waved his wand and the book Cutty was holding joined with others to neatly stack themselves. Job done. "Is it true that she used to teach Herbology here at this skewel before?", Cutty asked about the Headmistress. He'd meant to look this information up, but it had gotten away from him.
There weren't many adults, save his parents who asked Cutty about his life and his friendships. At least not without ulterior motives. Like they wanted to snoop. But maybe that wasn't the case here. Still it felt alien to him. "Life is great!" He said enthused. "I'm sellin' more than ever." But that wasn't the personal answer to a personal question. "Everyone knows my name and I'm not even in m'seventh year yet. So I'd say things were looking up."

Turning to face Cutty he just grinned at the senior boy for his joshing comment before turning to some strewn out parchments. Yes, you weren’t allowed to shout in the library but spontaneous outbursts of joy had to be okay. Leo wasn’t that strict. He just wanted a quiet atmosphere that enabled students to study well and without too many distracting noises.
Stacking and piling another set of books which he ticked off on the packing slip Leo replied with a glance towards Cutty across the office. "I doubt that Headmistress Truebridge needs any help with recommended reading from me but I do look out for books that might be of interest to all of my colleagues for there lesson planning." Most were appreciative too.

With the work done and the office looking like an office again Leo walked over to the desk to take a sip from his coffee mug. Grimacing at taste of the now cold substance he used his wand to vanish the content. Answering Cutty’s question he nodded "Yes Headmistress Truebridge has taught Herbology at Hogwarts before. If I don’t recall totally wrong then her lessons were all very popular and liked amongst the students."
One thing that Leo liked about Cutty was that you could never really guess what answer you’d get out of him to a question. It left things interesting. But in this instance a little confusing. Cutty sold what? Deciding to focus on the last thing he had said Leo asked "So you want to be famous when you graduate from school? What do you want to work with?"

So Albert Hughes wouldn't be required reading, but Cutty thought it might be worth it to check it out anyway. The teachers at Hogwarts liked their subjects for a reason and it probably wouldn't hurt towards earnesty points to have read a newly published book on the subject to have something to share with them anyway.
Cutty moved over toward a nearby stack of the newly ordered books and picked up the top copy looking over the front and back cover. He looked up at Mr. Kitridge in time to see one sour face and briefly connected it to the book he was holding until he witness the Librarian ridding the mug of it's contents. Then Mr. Kitridge elaborated on his question. "Money." That was the short answer. "I like wehrkin' with it and I feel like I've a good understandin' of how it wehrks. I could help people buy houses and pay fer skewel and all that." It wasn't a high profile job compared to say Quidditch player, but there was still room for ingenuity and achievement within the finance sector. From where he stood there was no glass ceiling and a wizard could achieve great heights if risk and reward were set just so.

Listening to Cutty, he said thoughtfully "So you're interested in a financial career." Taking a seat in one of the comfy chairs that had reappeared as the book stacks had accumalted in neat piles on the floor Leo continued. "Have you looked at what is required to take up a job at for example Gringotts and what kind of university degrees and practical job experience is needed?" Extracting his wand from its usual place in its waist holster Leo used it to fetch a few pamphlets and information regarding financial careers available in the wizarding world. Dropping the pamphlets on the side table next to him he gestured for Cutty to take the other chair. "Where does your interest in money come from? Do your parents work in the financial sector?" It was refreshing to hear a young wizard who actually had a clear idea of where and what they wanted to work with when the majority were clueless.

Cutty couldn't believe what he was hearing. His face was entirely blank for a moment as he considered what was going on here. It seemed unlikely that the Librarian was really curious, but maybe the busy healer had contrived a plan to get the other members of staff and faculty to mine the Slytherin students on her behalf. To Cutty's knowledge, hardly anyone went to the Slytherin Head of House unless they absolutely had to. He assumed it was because they were a bit afraid of her after the tongue lashings she'd given them surrounding the feasts. Even Ethan and both prefects hadn't stopped by her office to Cutty's knowledge in quite some time.
"Nar. I was hopin' to get tin by me good looks alone, Mr. Kitridge." And maybe he was serious about that. "I've been practicin' and lehrnin' Gobbledygook and our history involving Goblins and I'm fair good at Arithmancy." That was a more serious answer he gave as he took a seat. His hand reached out and grabbed one of the pamphlets and flipped it open. "I guess my interest in it cooms from me own experience. It doosn't coom from m'moohm or m'dad. Although, m'dad has money. He owns his own shipping and delivery company. That's how he met me moohm. She arranges portkeys with the Ministries for a travel agency. I think I like wehrkin' with money because of what I've seen it do. It's quite liberating. Gives people options, yer know. Takes them away too if yer haven't got any." And he knew about have and have not for he lived both lives simultaneously. Having with his ebullient, but careless father and not with his ethical and stubborn mother. "It's a sort of magic on it's own, isn't it?"

Eyes fixated on the Greek mythology book that she was reading, Penelope felt along the wall with one hand so she wouldn't bump into it. Reading while walking was something that she did quite often, so she wasn't worried about crashing into things. You just had to stop reading on the stairs for safety reasons. If she was right, the door to Mr. Kitridge's office should be around here somewhere. Feeling the door, Penelope knocked on the door. Not looking up from her book Penelope waited to see if Mr. Kitridge was in his office.

"Good looks..." Leo echoed thoughtfully. "I doubt very much that they will get you places Cutty, unless of course you were aiming for a job in the fashion industry." Which he wasn't. They were discussing a career in finance nothing else. Nodding Leo said "Aptness in Gobbledygook, Arithmancy and our magical history will earn you merits but you'll need to study at university or at least have some job experience from somewhere to be eligible for any type of start job in the finance sector. Do you have any job experience?" Using his wand Leo conjured up two glasses of fresh lemonade.
Sipping on the cold and delicious substance he paused to ask "Do you want to go in your father's footsteps and take over the running of the shipping company in the future?" It was a reasonable question. Leo had to admit to himself that Cutty seemed to know a fair bit of money and its power. Money had the power to take you places in both directions which was why you had to be sensible with it. "It certainly does. So be wary and invest the money you have wisely."

Leo had retreated back to his office to get some paperwork filed among other things. He had just poured himself a cup, thinking about Cassie and the ever present and irritating cobwebs he heard a distinct knock on the door. Taking a long coffee sip he made no haste to rise and answer his door. When he eventually unlocked and opened his door he found one of his own eaglet's on his doorstep. Face turning into a beam he greeted cheerily "Hello, Penelope! It's nice to see you. Would you care to come inside?" Leo noted that she was carrying a book but he let her bring it up if she wanted to not that he wasn't very curious.
