Way back behind the many bookshelves and bookcases a cozy area has been created for any Hogwarts student interested in his or her reading. It's a big comfy area with clusters of armchairs and tables surrounding magical reading lamps which give off different levels of light all appropriate for reading. The clusters are perfect for study groups or group projects.
Here and there a few lone armchairs and tables can be found for a student to enjoy some solitary reading, and a number of comfy sofas for any who wants to stretch out and put their feet up. Just, make sure they aren't muddy!
A soft glow of light is present throughout the area with more magical reading lamps in each possible reading space. Be sure to keep your voices down and respect those students who wish to read in quiet.

Like everyone was always quiet and there were so many books and people just sat here.... and ACTUALLY STUDIED. THE HORROR!! But really though. This place was weird. But unfortunately, he didn't really have a choice seeing that Professor Flamsteed had given him homework.
And it wasn't even for class. He had EXTRA homework. Extra homework that probably wasn't even going to get him house points or anything. And Zander could just choose not to do it... But he wasn't like that. Plus, he had a point to prove to his Head of House. So extra homework assignment it was. Which, by the way, was exactly why he had been patrolling around the bookshelves. He'd take this one... and this one... and this one might help? Oh and this one for sure.
Okay, if he took out anymore books they'd surely weigh him down. So he was gonna stick to the ones he had at the moment. And with that, the Gryffindor made his way to one of the study tables choosing to sit in an empty seat near that frantic kid.
Wait, what?
"Uh, you alright, mate?" He looked like death. And Zander was giving him the most concerned and slightly confused look he could've possibly mustered. The Prefect did remember this guy, but mostly 'cause as a house Prefect, it would've been embarrassing not to know his own house mates. So uh, Yoongi, you cool?
No no no! That was completely wrong!
Yoongi crumbled up a piece of parchment and threw it behind him in bin that was half full already in frustration. He had placed that thing there because he knew his study style and he would throw away his failed papers behind him. And since this wasn’t exactly his own place he didn’t want to get in to trouble for making a mess.
He had not spotted the Gryffindor Prefect sitting nearby with a couple of books as well and frankly , he did not care. He was too absorbed in to his studying world that he hardly heard his question but somehow he did and as he looked up he looked at the very concerned look on Zander’s face . “What? Of course I’m alright!” he snapped, he normally wasn’t the snappish person but even he could not control his inner zen anymore. “You think I can’t hadle this?! I’ve just got FIVE YEARS worth of studying for these subjects BECAUSE I NEVER HAD THEM!” He moved his arm over his table “EASY!” and then accidentally knocked over a bottle of ink and threw his arms in the air while giving a half cry half shout. “MY NOTES!”

When one had homework to do, naturally the library seemed an appropriate place to do it in. And so that was exactly what he was going to do. After entering, he returned an over-due and proceeded past the numerous shelves that held more knowledge than was necessary.
It was the study area he was going for, because every good student needed a surface on which to work. There were some tables free, which was pleasing to see, and he was only too happy to claim one for himself. He wasn't in a mood for sharing today.
Reluctantly, he pulled his notebook from his bag and set about drafting up a response for History of Magic. The project thing, was stupid, ridiculous, but it was something he was actually capable of understanding, because it was about himself.... and so he did his work, like the good boy that he was. Ahem.
It didn't take him very long, and after fifteen minutes had passed, he closed his notebook and returned it to his bag. He had more interesting homework to complete before he left here today.
Drawing his wand, he pointed it at the study table, but paused. Was anyone watching? Was Mr. Kitridge around? He was sure it would be okay to do this, because libraries were for studying, and homework, and this was homework! Plus... it was only temporary.
"Colovaria," he whispered, because he was in a library.
He frowned a little as the table turned a brighter shade of wood-red, but it wasn't the RED red that he had hoped for. Clearly with being sneaky his attention was elsewhere.
Focusing on the red he wanted the table to become, Zeke repeated the charm. "Colovaria," and this time was much more successful.
The red table would be hard to miss. He only hoped the Mr. Kitridge wouldn't be changing it back until Professor Quigley had a chance to see it.

Zander had noticed all of the crumbled parchment, the messy looking work station, and the Fifth Year's utterly distressed mannerisms... But he wasn't going to draw any attention to it 'cause you know, wasn't really his place. Except of course he was going to ask because if it was about OWLs--which he was assuming it was-- Zander had felt the same way last term when he had been in the exact same position himself. So this kind of thing was to be expected. Poor guy. OWLs were awful and it wasn't even the exams that were the bad part. It was the before. It was all this stuff.
What wasn't expected though, was that reaction.
Zander instantly shut his mouth being completely taken aback by the Fifth Year's sudden rage. Uh. What. The Prefect was only trying to be nice... Maybe offer some help. Sheeeesh! He was going to respond nicely though because it probably wasn't a good thing to get all of Gryffindor against him. But just as he went to say something, the ink bottle spilled and OH MERLIN.
UH.
Zander's eyes grew big as he quickly put the bottle up right and evaluated the damage. "Merlin, that sucks." He would flipped out if it were him. Ahem. Which Yoongi actually did so you know. "Okay um, I don't know a spell to fix this... But, I took OWLs last year--these are for OWLs, right? I could give you my notes if you want?" He had kept them, weirdly enough. Only because Lottie had given him hers, so he figured he could probably pass his down as well. Zander was also keeping surprisingly collected as he scourgifyed a bit of the table clean.

Hehe.
She wasn't done with the library juuuuuuust yet.
Lux had decided that the last thing she wanted to make yellow was one of the tables in the study area. Maybe the cheerful colour would help one of her fellow students feel better as they studied for OWLs or NEWTs. She was so glad that she didn't have to go through that this term, but next year was coming closer and the NEWTs still loomed over her head. As much as she was excited to graduate, the prospect of them made her anxious. What if she did badly on them and couldn't get into college to become a potioneer??
She wasn't even going to go there right now, so Lux turned her attention back to the task at hand. Randomly she selected a table and was pleased to see that there was a red one nearby. Gryffinpuff stuff was just everywhere and she was not complaining. Smiling, she pointed her wand at the table. "Colovaria!" Now it was a nice and pretty yellow. Hopefully Mr. Kitridge would like it since it was his library.
Finished with her homework, Lux decided that she was going to head back to her dorm and have a nap before supper.

However this came from his girlfriend and thus it was okay. Tidying up the front desk he left a little note in case there was an emergency and then rounded the counter to where Cassie was standing. "Yes, let's go over to the study tables. How does physiognmy work exactly?" Leo wondered out loud as he silently gave Cassie’s left hand a squeeze for the compliment before letting go. Starting to work towards the study tables he wondered. "Is physiognmy a divinatory art you can practice on yourself in front of a mirror or do you need help from someone else?"
He was going to go over as well, YAY! Cassie smiled, but didn’t try to hide her excitement to have Leo join them. Squeezing his hand back and then placing her hand back to her side she grinned as she walked, “Well not exactly. The entire purpose is to really get the feel of a person’s personality. It’s used to help interpret a person’s past. This helps in criminal cases especially. A diviner is very good at this type of reading. “ She continued to walk towards the study tables as they spoke. “So hopefully you haven’t done anything wrong in your past Mr. Kitridge.” She gave him a joking smile as she sat in a seat across from Ethan.
She watched as Ethan opened a book up quickly and started before they had even sat down. “We have a great student here, he is so eager to learn.” She adored that of her students, always so eager. Looking toward the book she pointed, “See how the different lines form on the face. If a person has been feeling guilty about something, which could say they are guilty of a crime, you’ll see more lines up around their eyes from the worry. Even the meanest person as a small conscious inside.” She at least believed that, so it would show on their face if they had truly done something wrong.

In his mind he thought it sounded like something that was neat if it worked but he was unsure of how accurate a divinatory reading could be. Raising a brow he asked surprised in response to Cassie's comment. "Is the reading really so accurate that law enforcement employees can rely on it when they look for suspects for crimes?"
Not really thinking about it Leo chose to sit down in the seat next to Cassie and across from Ethan. He figured it was better if he sat there then on the side so that Ethan got a good view of his face and Cassie could easily demonstrate on it. Putting his hands in his lap he smiled good-naturedly eyes flickering from Ethan to Cassie. "Haven’t we all pulled some pranks and stunts in our youth? Aside from that I don’t think I have many skeletons in my past except for a too big passion for books."
Looking toward drawing on the book Leo asked "So i just need to sit still and you two will do the rest?"
Well, the Library was very quiet that afternoon, that’s why he could hear bits of Professor Cassie’s words that were directed to the Librarian. The Slytherin flipped the page of the book as he subconsciously nodded his head in agreement. As Ethan read the next page, he completely tuned everyone’s voices out again and scribbled notes on his notebook like there was no tomorrow. There were so many things that need to be mastered, and he felt like he doesn’t have all the time in the world to do so.
Patience. He ought to learn that too.
The moment Mr. Kitridge sat down, Ethan had let go of his self-inking quill and started to study the man’s face. It was best to do it, when your ‘suspect’ isn’t aware, right? To be honest, the Slytherin was quite please to have a woman amongst them. That way, she could serve as a distraction, while he gets down to business. What made Ethan more excited was the fact that he can do two things at the same time. He realized he could study the person in front of him and start to make the right assumptions, while using his mouth to say things that will either confirm his hypothesis, or distract his suspect totally.
The Slytherin rubbed his chin thoughtfully as he considered Mr. Kitridge’s statement. Can the Law Enforcement rely on the practice? “They can if the suspect can’t talk...or chose not to talk because his life is on the line.” He said as he continued to study the man’s face. “It shouldn’t hurt if one had a different skill in one’s arsenal, right? And it’s unusual so I suppose not all can do it.” Talk about specialty. Ethan, since birth was always fascinated with unusual things...and how these things can work to his advantage.
Ethan picked up his self inking quill and jotted down some notes.
“Let’s see...” Mhm...Ethan jotted down words on his notebook, and he’d occasionally consult his book and reference it with the things he wrote down. “I’ll...start with Mr. Kitridge’s WONDERFUL forehead.” Ethan shifted in his seat as he looked down at his notes once more, and grinned at the librarian. “You have a wide forehead, which means that you have a very busy, thinking brain. Since it is also high, this could also indicate intelligence, plus your upper forehead is a bit bulged, meaning you have good memory.” So...the Sorting Hat was right in placing the man in Ravenclaw. Good! “The lines on your forehead then support the theory that you’re always thinking, because, just like what you said, you’re always reading a book...and perhaps, debating with its contents whether it has the wrong or right information.” Really, the Headmistress was also right in appointing Mr. Kitridge as their librarian! “That being said, it confirms your intellectual capacity. In conclusion, you are...or if I don’t know you, might be a very smart man. Smart in what way? That, I don’t know.” Ethan grinned and looked at his notes again, in case he missed some important points. “Cool isn’t it? With that bit of information, whether it’s true or not, can lead a detective to a temporary conclusion. The interrogator need not ask any questions whatsoever...just, educated assumptions.”
If he were a kid still, he would have ran around the room, waving his arms above his head, just to show his excitement. “Professor Cassie? What do you think?”

“Of course the reading is accurate, all my reading are accurate.” Humph, her own boyfriend questioning her profession that fully got him a pouty lip. She didn’t even care if anyone caught it, she was giving it to him. “They just need to know exactly what they are looking for.” That was all, it was simple. Anyway she went back to listening to Ethan.
Giving Leo a smile about the books, she knew that already. She was sure he hadn’t kept any secrets from her which was nice. They had a trusting relationship so she was assuming she’d find nothing out of the ordinary with a reading today.
Her eyes moved back to Ethan as he did his reading of Leo. She beamed at everything he was finding. “Very good Ethan, I think you did very well for your first set of readings.” She got up and moved over towards Leo a bit more, “Now you see this line, this one shows some worry. Now it isn’t more than just a line, so we would see this as normal worry or worry of others, not worry of guilt.” Her finger brushed Leo’s face as she showed the small line.
“I don’t think you will find that Mr. Kitridge is lying about anything nor guilty of anything but worry about his students.” Which made her beam towards him, he was so loving.

It was a good thing that the Prefect had some quick reflexes because Yoongi hadn’t even thought of putting the ink bottle up right. “I knoooow!” he whined and ran both hands through his black hair in frustration. He knew he was going to have a difficult time with OWLs but he hadn’t expected this. He picked up the top sheet of paper and sighed before grabbing his wand. With a spell he learned at Charms School, Yoongi vanished some of the liquid off the paper but that only resulted in getting rid of a lot of words, even sentences as well.
Could he cry now?!
Wait… Was the Prefect offering to give his notes to him? There were tears in his eyes, but this time from happiness. “You! Are! The! Best!” he shouted, forgetting he was in a library and stepped away from his desk and dragged him in to a big bro hug. “I could kiss you right now!” …..then he quickly let go. “As a matter of speaking of course” he laughed. “I only need notes for Astronomy, Potions and Ancient Runes” he said because he was fairly confident about the other subjects. “What are you doing here by the way? You’re not a NEWT student yet right?”

Uh oh. Was the kid gonna cry? Because Zander wasn’t trained for that.
Actually, they actually weren’t trained for anything. Merlin. Being a Prefect kinda stunk. How come they never got any proper training? It wasn’t actually his fault that all these bad preventable things happened. They never got proper lessons on how to deal with them!! And Merlin. Crying students should definitely be apart of the Prefect’s manual. ‘Cause Zander was starting to get nervous he’d have to improvise… And he wasn’t all that great with improvisation so, good luck Yoongi.
And y’know, he had thought that maybe by offering up his notes, he’d avoid the waterworks. But the tears were still there except this time he was—Being hugged? Oh. Well this was DEFINITELY not in the Prefect’s manual. But Zander knew how to handle this one. Hug back, of course! Ahem. Well, that was a close one. The kissing thing sort of got him though O____O ahem. Now THAT was also a close one.
Heh. Riiiiiight then.
”Thank Merlin,” he joined the younger Gryffindor in laughing before running a hand through his hair. ”Yeah of course! I’ve got loads of great stuff for those subjects,” even though his Runes scores were lacking, he still had proper notes, okay? ”Just remind me to swing up by my room next time you see me.” See at first he was getting yelled at, then he was going to have to deal with crying, and now…. now maybe he made a new friend? Zander wasn’t actually sure, but uh… He was just going to go with it. Y’know, whatever this was.
”Oh yeah, I’ve got another year for NEWTs,” Zander? Study a year ahead of time? AS IF. Just kidding. He was sort of studying… Ish. But it wasn’t a priority right now because he still had some last minute homework to take care of first, y’know? That stuff came first. Ahem. Because he was totally gonna do that. ”But erm… Professor Flamsteed gave me and Puck this extra assignment,” because he hated them and wanted to see them suffer. ”I’ve got to write a paper about some famous leader and how he resonates with me or something… But I have no idea who to pick or where to start,” he let out a frustrated sigh as he spread the books around the table to show Yoongi what he meant. He had like five different books about different influential leaders… Except he did remember some about that Neville Longbottom bloke that Flamsteed pointed out a few years back… But y’know, did that guy really count as a leader?

Ethan began his reading talking about his wide forehead which caused Leo to cringe slightly. He was still a bit sensitive about the state of his receding hairline. But he had gotten better at it and it helped that Cassie didn't care how much hair he had on his head or if it was shrinking. Watering his lips Leo stayed silent as Ethan did his reading of the lines in his face. It was a gigantic relief to hear that a man with his facial lines and features would be assumed to be smart and of great intellectual capacity. It boosted his ego just a little.
As Ethan finished his reading and Cassie commented and moved closer to him Leo held back the urge to give her an apology kiss. He knew she had been a little disgruntled by his earlier comment. However he'd have to do that later. Feeling Cassie's finger brush his face he looked up into her face, smiled and asked "So all the lines you get in your face whether its from thinking, laughing or say nervousness you can use for this divinatory reading and then make an assumption about a persons personality? That's pretty awesome." Looking over at Ethan he asked "Do you want to study any more lines in my face or move to my hands?" But that was another divinatory art wasn't it?

THEY WERE COMING.
On TOP of that, the castle seemed to be housing more than just students and stuff these days. Spiders. Spiders were EVERYWHERE...or one could assume. Spider WEBS were everywhere, at least. But really, wasn't that notice enough? Something had to be weaving the webs.
....and Ravenclaw was COVERED in them.
So, that's why he was studying here. The library seemed untouched...and as had been mentioned, NEWTs were coming. And Gabriel was planning to overdo it. He'd be taking eleven subjects, two of which were independently studied. So, personally, this Ravenclaw didn't have time for spiders or their webs.

Jenna, fortunately, wasn't afraid of spiders or any of those kinds of things, but still she didn't like this school being covered in cobwebs. It was pretty annoying and very distracting to have to dust some away when you were trying to focus on writing or reading or anything else inside the school really.
The library seemed to be a safe place so far though, so it was probably the best spot to do all her stuff. She'd fit as many books as she could in her bag and was left to carry the rest in her arms - and a couple were pretty heavy too. But she just had a few more steps before she reached another table and could set them down...
Except the books had other plans apparently, because her arms were tired and her pile was getting a bit wobbly - and a couple slipped off, landing on the floor with a relatively loud THUMP! right behind the Ravenclaw.

The library. The least interesting and most terrifying place in the whole school, and yet Dot had found her way there just in escape of the yucky crawly things that she kept running into all over the place. Lower floors seemed worse, and Dot was sort of avoiding her dorm at the moment.
She was pleased to find a Gabe looking all studious. Hiii, big buddy person. Tucking red hair up into the coronet braid she'd chosen to keep her hair all contained, Dot immediately pounced on the older Ravenclaw, rubbing her cheek against his shoulder like a fond little cat.

"Anyone ever told you you’re awesome and a life saviour?” Yoongi grinned as he cleared away the last bits of the ink. “Well, no I’m awesome...there can’t be two awesome people in my presence.. but you are a life saviour!” When he was done, Yoongi sighed out loud and tried to organise the papers on the desk.
Now that he could borrow some of the Prefect’s notes, the younger Gryffindor did feel a bit more relaxed and he felt bad for yelling at him earlier. He should apologise right? He leaned back in to the desk as he placed down his papers. “Aye, look, I’m sorry I yelled at you earlier. I’m kinda stressing out here but the fact you’ll give me your notes means so much !” Seriously, he wouldn’t know….although…judging from what he knew about the Prefect he guessed he would be the type to stress out in these kind of situations heh. Better not say that out loud..
Wait, Professor Flamsteed gave both Prefects an extra assignment? LOL was he glad he wasn’t one of them. He would have probably go crazy if he had extra work and he was already starting going crazy. “Why would he do that?” he asked and then looked around in case the Astronomer was nearby. “Is he always so grumpy? When I visited him he wasn’t even listening to half the things I was saying!” he gasped mockingly. “My voice isn’t annoying right? Its heavenly, right?!” yes, yes it was…Anyways..“Maybe I can help?” he asked. “I don’t know you very well, apart from your name and your status here but if you could tell me something about yourself I can come up with someone?”

If he looked slightly tortured by the textbook laid out in front of him, that would've been an accurate assessment. Arithmancy had been difficult for Gabriel to get through this year...and he couldn't rightfully understand why. Numbers usually were a strong suit for him, but lately? He was only frustrated by them.
Setting that subject aside, he decided to focus on Runes. Runes study felt more stimulating in recent months...
SPOILER!!: Dot!

"Hi. Are you writing poetry? Are you writing poetry in Gobbledygook? You're so clever, I bet you could."
...and that's how Dot found him: head ducked down dutifully over a massive Runes textbook, notebook off to the side so that he could easily jot notes as he did his read-through. Quill flying over the parchment, completely immersed in the reading...Gabe jumped when Dot rubbed her face against his shoulder.

"I'm.....just studying for NEWTs." Gabe blinked at her nuzzling up to him, confused by it...but not commenting. Dot seemed like an affectionate girl, and he'd come to realize this was normal for some. "...and I'm afraid I'm not very good at...poetry." Though, he could possibly take notes in Gobbledygook. He'd picked up the language very fast.
"Did you need something?"
SPOILER!!: Jenna!

Suddenly, something made a loud THUMP! sound just behind his chair...and though Gabe didn't jump this time, he did swivel around quickly; eyes wide at what had caused the noise.
...
Er...
It was Jenna Hensley, who was on his Quill team...and she was standing behind a rather impressive pile of books. Had she been carrying all of those at once? "Do you....need help?"

Merlin's beard, this was embarrassing. She'd just dropped a book in a library in front of two other people. She could practically feel the judgment aimed at her (which in actuality was probably only in her mind).
Jenna felt her face suddenly grow a lot warmer as she quickly weighed her choices. She could pretend it was all okay and she could somehow get all these books over to that table over there without dropping anymore...or she could ask for some help and likely not cause anymore potential damage. Hm...
"Um...yes, if you don't mind," she replied after a couple of seconds. Avoiding damaging her books - and not embarrassing herself further - seemed like the better option.

"That sounds horrid," Dot decided as she let him go and danced her way around the table to drop into the opposite chair. Studying was boring boring boring, and NEWTs were worse. "I'm going to be a dancer-slash-fashion designer, so I don't have to get any NEWTs. And I'm going to help you study by quizzing you."
Whether he liked it or not. Maybe she'd make up a pretend poem in her head, but not share it since she wasn't nearly clever enough to write real poems. Something about... boys who were afraid of words and words who were afraid of boys. Yeah.
"I need to help you."

"I mean, I need to help this girl." Dot popped out of her chair and scrambled over to help pick up books. Book book book book. This girl here... she was a Ravenclaw. Too many books to be anything else. What did a person even DO with all these books?
"You better not be using these as a stepstool. I did that once, and you always get caught when there are footprints on the fly leaf. Plus... books are so precious to some people. Weird people, but they get REAL defensive. What's your name? I'm Charlotte, but they call me Dot."
Time to buckle down and study. I mean Lecium really needed to. He had been slacking and that was no good for this puff. I mean his future was relying on these grades. As he made his way to one place where he could put his mind to rest, he took a deep breath of relief because it was sort of empty. It was perfect study conditions. He grinned and found an empty table near the back and emptied out his backpack and spread out all his books out. He saw how much and he was getting overwhelmed a little bit. He decided to start on Defense Against the Dark Arts.
He reached over and got his textbook and began to dig in. He wondered if he was going to see anyone here.
