A large number of floor-to-ceiling bookcases fill up the library, creating aisles upon aisles of books available for students to read and browse. To make finding books for all years a little easier Mr Kitridge has divided the bookshelves into sections like romance, suspense, crime, history, plants and fungi etc.
To return books just walk up to the appropriate shelf and hold up the book. The gripping charm in place on the shelves will take a hold of the book. When you feel a tug on the book let go and the book will fly up and find its right place amongst the other books on the shelves. When retrieving a book you can use the sliding ladders or if you feel confident with your magic you can use a simple accio charm to retrieve the book you want.
In front of each aisle there is small set of desks which students can use to complete homework, copy notes, take book references or chat. Keep your voices down and be mindful of falling books and other students accessing books around you.
Simon gave the young boy a slight nod accompanied by a thumb's up. After he finished sorting his books, he walked towards the younger boy. "A book about patronuses?" he repeated and smirked. Ah, Simon had done the same thing at Hugo's young age. He had come to the library and had found everything possibly known to the Hogwarts Librarians about patronuses. He had to become an expert.
And now young Hugo had asked him about animagus'. Hmm... If he had been a cartoon character, a light bulb would have appeared above his head for Simon Holden had figured out just the book the boy needed. "Come this way. I know a couple of books that'll help." He waved the boy to one of the aisles. He pulled out a book, flipped the pages until he reached the section on Animagus. "Here's your basic information on Animagus. What sort of information would you like to know?" The boy raised his eyebrows curiously.
Hugo nodded. "We tried to cast the Patronus charm but I got nothing" he had a bad luck "So...I wanna know what should I do to really do it and see my patronus" that's right, he was determined to find out. The third year sat down on the floor looking at the lower bookshelves, "Can you cast a patronus?" said looking up at Simon. He was older than Hugo so he needed that wisdom. Mhm.
Moving on...
Hugo got up really quick once Simon had the Animagus information. He took the book and started to read it. "How can I become one?" asked really curious. Answer, Simon, ANSWER!
Making sure her pretty forehead is intact. She laughed a little as he blew on her bruise. She felt him ruffle her long blonde locks and it reminded her of her cousins greeting. What was it with boys and messing with her hair? "Making sure that you didn't break your best friend is in the protocol?" She teased him with a smile.

"I guess I need to get reading to reading this manual." She laughed a little at his teasing. He made her feel so much calmer just by being himself, she wasn't sure if she could've adjusted to Hogwarts so well without him. She was glad that she didn't have to know though.
He pulled her down gently into a sitting position across from him and the pink tinge increased a little without her realizing it. She did have a feminine side though she didn't always show it so much. She was a tomboy, but very much a girl without even realizing it herself. If she knew that her cheeks were pink, she would probably be embarrassed.
Now what did she mean? She thought that she may as well explain it to him, he was her best friend after all. "I never told you why I moved to England." She tucked her hair behind her right ear absentmindedly. "My mother and I moved because my parents just separated and are thinking about divorcing." Thinking about her family parting was very heavy, all of the arguing her parents had been doing and everything that her mother had said weighed on her heart. "My father stayed in Germany , because he works for the ministry." She played with her hair, looking down and it clearly bothered the young snakette though she tended to play it off. "That is why I was alone in Diagon Alley when you met me, my mother was making arrangements for her job. Its also why it was important for me to disobey my mother. It all felt so unfair to not have a choice in anything and that my feelings didn't seem to matter to anyone.......especially her." She still almost felt like crying still but she didn't want to look weak to the boy that had unknowingly been her savior. Especially with what other emotions she was dealing with.
Henric shrugged,"I'm pretty sure ensuring my smart and brilliant bestfriend's safety is in the protocol...where else I can find someone to copy off homework from,"he joked. Of course, he wouldn't do such a thing...to llia... but he had to admit he did with his dormmates couple of times before. It was no secret really...he was lucky he hadn't been caught yet though. They made sure everyone's answers were different in a way, and yes...his dormmates were quite the notorious bunch sometimes but they got each other backs.

Henric could emphatised what she was going through, he would react the same way too if he wasn't given a choice in the matter. To be suddenly taken away from a place she knew all her life and moved into this new environment, must have taken a toll on her too. Henric reached to grab her shoulders so he could see her face. He could tell that she was about to cry too, his heart wrenched a little seeing her like this.
"llia...I know for a fact that you are much stronger than you let on but don't let your parents relationship affect you...it is not your fault, you know that..."Henric told her softly,"...it also doesn't change the fact that they still love you even though right now they don't seem to show it like they should...I'm sorry..." He sighed, he wondered if ever his birth parents ever loved him before he was found abandoned with no memory at all. It frustrated him sometimes and he couldn't help cursed to the person who took away his identity.

She felt the boys big warm hands upon her thin framed shoulders as they tilted her. No resistance came from her and she moved with him fluidly, her bright blue eyes slowly raising to his. His voice , though it spoke of things she didn't want to think about, was comforting.
"Its just, been a lot to take in this year I guess." She smiled weakly up at him. "Everything is so different from what I have always known and I guess I feel that my mother is.......very selfish right now. I miss my home, living near the outdoors, my family..... especially my father." She really missed her papa bear, her father and her had always had a special bond that her mother never quite understood. Ilia was less girly than her mother and enjoyed a lot of more boy sort of things that her father did. "My mother wouldn't even let me get a pet of my own for school here when I was to be alone. She brought her kneazle with her so that she wasn't alone, but I left my crup with papa so that he wouldn't be as lonely." She held back the liquid that threatened to brim past her eyelids. Why did she feel like this? She had been doing such a good job not talking about it. "I don't know what happened or why they argue so much. I just know that it won't be the same anymore......" A little bit of the liquid forced its way past the threshold and she felt it on her cheeks as she tried to stifle it and choke it back down.
"You bumping into me at the pet shop was the best thing to happen to me all year and I don't know what I'd be doing now without you." She said it, for the first time since their unlikely friendship started. The first time in those words, exactly how she had felt. She had some tears in her eyes but she was smiling at him in earnest.

Maybe it was the quick dismissal of his wrong answer? He didn't know.

She was just FULL of questions.
Oh. That Elodie. The one who had dissed her boyfriend. Lux hadn't spoken to her in a while. "We worked on a colouring book together." Yep. It had been a Little Mermaid colouring book. She did enjoy those. She also had a My Little Pony one.
"Laying it on a little thick aren't you? You know you can ask for my homework notes and help, not just sneak a copy." She laughed a little. Brilliant and a pretty forehead, he always teased her so much. She was comfortable with his teasing though. It was different the way he did it and how they interacted, different from anyone else she had ever been around.

Henric saw the single tear escaped from the corner of her eye, it was the first time he seen her opening up to him like this. He reached into his pockets and took out his clean handkerchief,silently wiping away the tears from her cheeks.He felt bad for her but all he could do was to listen to her troubles as best as he could. Henric smiled when llia mentioned their first meeting. He also remembered how against he was from going with her idea of adopting their shared pet toadette together in Diagon Alley. But he relented in the end, because he knew it would make her happy even though he didn't know much about her yet back then. Henric didn't like seeing anyone unhappy, it was like seeing himself in the mirror a long long time ago and he didn't want to go back to that dark place again.
"llia, you know... I'm always here for you, this doesn't change anything..we like two peas in a pod, partners in crime...remember...and not to forget an excellent caretaker to Princess Charlotte and of course, pet rock George...you're not going to be alone in this because I'll be supporting you 500% in this...come on, you can count on me too...your father will take good care of your crup and you know he will,wish I could meet your crup though..."Henric chuckled lightly before adding,"but if haven't met you at that petshop... I wouldn't have gain such a brilliant friend too..."

His response was as quick as her questions had been directed at him. Rooney pondered over places that he thought were 'awesome' to see. "Anything you can see from the top of the Eiffel Tower is awesome enough to see." And that was just how he thought of Paris. Mama and Daddy Dex had chosen to move there for Mama's work and for a new start after they were married.
When they properly became a family.
"She gave me some colouring books to bring with me. She's my godmother, you know?" And she'd told him soooo much about Hogwarts before he and Calliope had arrived here. When the three of them had sat in Mama's bed and cuddled because Aunt Elodie was having a really sad time and needed hugs from her favourite adventurers.

So that was what Toby was doing right now. Sleeping like a baby, right there on the floor in the Ancient Runes section, somewhere between 'the tiver phenomenon' and 'a detailed history of burins'. He was a twitchy sleeper, the perpetual motion thing being true even when he was off in dreamland, so was very clearly, y'know, alive. Under his head, being used as a pillow, was a copy of his DADA textbook. Very comfy it was, too.
If there was one place you could almost guarantee to find Clara in, it was the Library.
She spent a ridiculous amount of time - in some people's misguided opinion - in there either reading, writing, reading (again), or chilling out. In fact, she'd spent so much time in there that she'd likely skim-read every single book at least once.
But today wasn't a day for reading for pleasure ...... she needed to tackle the subjects she was struggling with, i.e. Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. NEWTs were a killer, weren't they? Clara had considered asking Eden or Gabriel for help with them, but that would mean admitting that she needed help in the first place, and, well, that just wasn't an option. So instead, she made her way to the Arithmancy section of the Library and, in her arms, piled up books that appeared useful to her. There were a lot of them.
Next was Ancient Runes, the subject that baffled her because she didn't understand it. It was somewhat similar to learning a language, so that should mean that Clara was a natural and could understand and pick it up, but, alas, that was not the case.
Trying not to dwell on it too much, she headed towards the Ancient Runes section. Note that her Arithmancy books were piled so high that she could only just see over them - she could certainly not see any Tobys on the floor - so, when her foot came into contact with something fleshy, and definitely not a book or anything of that sort, she almost jumped a mile. ASDFGHJKUYTGFG. The redhead peeked around her stack of books, eyes narrowed. Was that ...... Toby ... taking a nap ..... in the library?

Airey made astronomy fun if you listened to the school buzz.

Toby had never been much of a heavy sleeper. Probably because his brain and body were constantly on the go, ready for the next adventure or whatever, prepped to go DO A THING wherever and whenever, even in the middle of the night. Yeah, it definitely wasn't a case of burning off the energy during the day and sleeping like a log later. That had changed, of course, once he'd started taking the potions his healer had given him. Those things knocked him out at night, but he'd obviously not taken them mid-study session.
So when Clara WALKED INTO HIM, he was very swiftly brought back to consciousness. There was a brief moment of 'omgwhatnowhatshappeninghuh', like what usually happens when someone is suddenly woken up, but Toby soon remembered where he was and why he was there.
And realised who had woken up, and was now looking down at him. He squinted up at the form, silhouetted somewhat in the lamplight. It took a moment to realise who it was, but realise he did.
"Oh, hey Clara," Toby replied, oh so casually as if this kind of meeting was the most normal thing in the world. "'Chu you doing?" Yep. So casual. Toby shuffled up to a sitting position and streeeeetched out his arms, before massaging his neck. Floor sleeping, man. Murder on the spine.

But how could explain fully what was on her mind and yet not get him involved? She wanted to share with him ... with someone .... and in her heart and mind, somehow she knew that the Hufflepuff Prefect was the right person. He wasn't demanding for her to spill her deepest secrets, which only made her want to share them.
"Well yes, no," she laughed. Honestly, she didn't know if she wanted to talk about it. She chewed her bottom lip, averting her eyes away from the sixth year and at the rows of books instead. Comfort. "I'm confused. Last year, I became friendly with a boy ... and I felt comfortable around him and I think he was comfortable around me..." She paused, reflecting, and decided to not disclose too much on the kiss, because even though she doubted Adi would care, he was still a prefect (but so was the boy so...). "I think we were fond of each other. I mean I know I cared for him and he wasn't seeing anyone at the time."
But that's when things grew confusing. Tia sighed. "But then we returned to Hogwarts this year and I thought he would be happy to see me again, and he was friendly, but it was almost as if he'd forgotten all feelings and saliva exchanges, because he seems more interested in another girl, one his year, and the way they smile and laugh with each other ... I'm just ... I'm torn. I don't want to jeopardize his chance at happiness, especially because I consider myself friends with the girl, but how can I be happy for them and get over my feelings, if they're even that, for the boy?" She wasn't even sure she loved him, but she definitely felt something.

Adi waited patiently for Tia to make up her mind. He would be lying if he said he wasn't concerned. He secretly hoped she would spill whatever was bugging her. He pretended to be interested in one of the of texts on the shelf next to him and his friend while side glancing at her every few seconds. "Any time now,'' his brain said as though it seemed to know Tia was about to let it all out.
Sure enough...
The Hufflpuff listened to every word not once interrupting, his fingers of his right hand absently drumming against the top of a book. He remained silent for a few seconds as he considered Tia's question. He felt sad for her. He remembered how he had felt when Ian had kissed AJ at the Start of Term feast so long ago. Anywayyy. Adi needed to comfort his friend. Would she want a hug? He was unsure. "I'm not going to lie, it's going to be difficult to do that,'' he began, trying his best to put himself in Tia's situation. "You know that saying, 'time heals everything'? It's true but you're going to have to focus on getting through it. You'll have to ignore the hurt you feel when you see them together. A good way to start is focusing on OWLs. You know, channel your attention into something to distract you.'' He paused to move to put an arm around Tia's shoulder cautiously in case she didn't want the shoulder squish he was giving her. "It's easier said than done but I know you can do it.'' She got an encouraging smile.
Henric snickered and shook his head,"I was only joking...I never cheat off my bestfriend's homework, that is preposterous..."he grinned, trying to hold in his laughter.Awww..his bestie would do that for him. "Thanks llia,again...I know I can count on you,I need all the help I can get,really...can you believe that it will be our turn next year to take our O.W.Ls ...where has the time gone..."he said,sighing.

Henric saw the single tear escaped from the corner of her eye, it was the first time he seen her opening up to him like this. He reached into his pockets and took out his clean handkerchief,silently wiping away the tears from her cheeks.He felt bad for her but all he could do was to listen to her troubles as best as he could. Henric smiled when llia mentioned their first meeting. He also remembered how against he was from going with her idea of adopting their shared pet toadette together in Diagon Alley. But he relented in the end, because he knew it would make her happy even though he didn't know much about her yet back then. Henric didn't like seeing anyone unhappy, it was like seeing himself in the mirror a long long time ago and he didn't want to go back to that dark place again.
"llia, you know... I'm always here for you, this doesn't change anything..we like two peas in a pod, partners in crime...remember...and not to forget an excellent caretaker to Princess Charlotte and of course, pet rock George...you're not going to be alone in this because I'll be supporting you 500% in this...come on, you can count on me too...your father will take good care of your crup and you know he will,wish I could meet your crup though..."Henric chuckled lightly before adding,"but if haven't met you at that petshop... I wouldn't have gain such a brilliant friend too..."
"We should probably start preparing and studying for it soon really.....We can be O.W.L. study buddies, though I am pretty sure we would rather be studying real owls." She smiled as she replied. The time had really flown by and they had grown so close, it was surprising in a good way really.

Ilia let Henric wipe her tears away as he comforted her. He would always be there for her........she believed him when he said that. Peas in a pod, partners in crime.......She listened to all that he said , her best friend was very comforting and reassuring. She instinctively knelt up and wrapped her arms around her best friends waist. Her head went under his chin as she held him tight and a few more sobs escaped. Her feelings toward him may have been muddled but all of them were positive and wanted to be near him. "I know my papa will take good care of my crup and I was so sad but.......I guess I am okay with what has happened and is happening because......I wouldn't be here with you." She spoke against his chest as she hugged him. Safe....that is what the fourteen year olds arms felt like. Safety and comfort, certain that he wouldn't leave her all alone. He was her happy memory for her patronus, her partner in crime, the peanut butter to her jelly. Her best friend and closer than any one else had been to her. "You are.........my best friend in the world." He was an excellent toad father too and he completely changed her life , in her opinion for the better.
She was reluctant to let go of him, but holding onto him on the floor of the library for an extended period of time was probably inadvisable. She smiled up at him and pushed all of her sorrows away, sitting down beside him. "Do your parents ever argue?"

Because they were delicious. "Do you like croissants?" That was a valid question in her mind.
Oh. He was Elodie's godmother. That was sweet. "She told you a lot about Hogwarts then? To get you ready for it?" Clearly his mother would have as well because that was what parents did.

So Tia wasn't sure what to expect after letting it all out - excluding identities - but one thing she felt was lighter. Even if Adi didn't offer her advice, just knowing she told someone what was on her mind, she already felt better and more focused.
Anyway, he did offer something. A hug, which she returned graciously. She bit her lip as she listened to him and nodded, taking in every word and though in a lesson she would have been jotting this down in her notes, right here, right now, notes were not necessary. This was life advice and she didn't need to write it down. She just needed to listen.
"OWLs. Yes..." She spoke quietly when he finished. "I've been trying to focus and distract myself with those and I think it's been working mostly, and well, honestly, letting it all out just now, I think that will help more. Adi wished he could say more but these things weren't really his specialty. He had struggled when he an AJ had their problems last year, completely at a loss and of how to deal with the situation but he had made it through because he had had Benny with him, cheering him up and keeping him occupied with other stuff. So maybe he could do the same for Tia.
And she didn't seem to mind the hug! Awesomeee! Adi made up his mind. He would keep her company and distract her. "I'm pleased you feel better. You shouldn't keep things bottled up.'' He was speaking from personal experience here. "Right.'' With a grin, he poked her lightly on the arm. "How about helping me with some homework? They're just coming one after the other. I think the Professors are trying to drown us in them all.'' Hehe. "How about Charms?'' This was a practical one and surely Tia would need to use all her concentration as possible to get this done so she would not have the time to be thinking of her situation.

It wasn't a bad empty though, just that she had nothing really left to add and if Adi hadn't suggested something then the situation might have taken an awkward turn and Tia probably would have felt compelled to walk away.

Tia had smiled! Adi was super pleased he was able to do that for his friend. When she pulled out her charms book, he peeked into it too so that he could refresh his memory about the charm. "Colovaria and a point of the wand,'' he said to himself. "Yep, five items. This should be a walk in the park.'' After all, he hadn't had much trouble with it... verbally.
"I'm going to try working on it non verbally,'' the Hufflepuff informed his Ravenclaw companion. "I've been trying to do non verbal spells for a while but I suck at it.'' Hmph. He hated that. Anyway, he waited patiently for Tia to make up her mind about the object she would be working with. Ah! The bookshelf! It was perfect! And she did it without much effort too!
"Good job! My turn!'' Now, the book shelf where he and Tia were standing at, was one which was braced against the wall soooo it was the wall that was going to be changed. Yup.
"Colovaria!'' Point! No red light from his wand and that meant no colour change. Seeee? He sucked at non verbal spells. "Colovaria!'' Point! Nope, this wasn't working. Back to verbal it was! There was no sense in keeping Tia waiting while he failed epically.
"Colovaria!" Adi pointed his wand smartly at the wall, still focusing on the bright yellow of Hufflepuff House. Wheee! There it was! One yellow wall with the blue book shelf against against it. Now they needed somewhere else to go... "We can change the stairs of the fourth floor next. Or even the corridor floor.'' Yeah! Adi liked the thought of changing the floor yellow. Hehe. With that, he lead Tia out of the library, out to the fourth floor.
She thought she'd find LOTS of things to color change in the library. Maybe some books, you know? Books were easy. She was wondering how in the world Quiggles would manage to change ALL of their stuff back--it seemed so...well, tedious.
Well, that was all on HIM.
She eyed the bookshelves with curiosity and hmmm. WHAT BOOK? She decided on a random book about....plants. It would a NICE blue book, wouldn't it? She pulled it out slightly and tapped it with her wand beforehand.
HERE SHE WENT.
"Colovarius!" she cried, and the spell took to the book quickly and effectively. This spell was so easy. She loved it. It was also VERY nifty. The book was a royal blue, like her house, and Eden wondered...hmm. Was she supposed to be making things blue and BRONZE? Maybe...."Colovarius!" she cried, again, and this time the book became striped with blue and bronze stripes.

The library was one of Lux's favourite places in the castle so she figured that it would be a good idea to stop by and leave her mark on it so-to-speak.
Mr. Kitridge was such a nice man and she had a feeling that he would be a good sport about one of his bookshelves being turned yellow. It would look really pretty and liven the place up a little before Quiggles got around to changing it back. Poor man was probably going to have to go around the whole castle reverting spells. Oh well. It HAD been his idea for the assignment in the first place so he was probably more than capable of doing it on her own.
Searching through the aisles of books, Lux stopped when she reached the fantasy section. She did enjoy her fantasy novels even if she liked a lot of different genres. Stopping in front of one of the bookshelves in that section, she figured that it would do perfectly.
"Colovaria!'' Gosh, this spell was so easy. She would have made one of the bookshelves in the Western section red for Bay since it was his favourite genre, but since that wasn't allowed she just moved on to another location.

Caleb had just been planning on doing a book Slytherin colors - but when he saw the Hufflepuff bookshelf he became INSPIRED. Go big or go home, yeah? Caleb grinned and decided to go with the bookshelf. Yolo or something right?
Wandering over to the corner bookcase, he pointed his wand at it and imagined the whole thing dark green, just like the Slytherin colors. "Colovaria!'' he exclaimed, and a few moments later, the bookcase started to darken, and a moment later it was dark green. WOOOOT! Success! Now he just had to go find one more item and he would be all done...

"Eh well my parents are muggle and one owns a shop whilst the other is a tourist guide." Angel said truthfully. "Maybe I could asked one of them for some muggle money and then I can transfer it into Galleons?" Angel was sure that would work, she'd just have to figure out how much she would need in muggle money.
Angel thought about how much was in her bank account. "I don't think there's that much, last time I looked." Angel sighed, she spend it on her books and things though one day she hoped that she could save up loads.
