Library Bookshelves

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...ookshelves.jpg

A large number of floor-to-ceiling bookcases fill up the library, creating aisles upon aisles of books available for students to read and browse. To make finding books for all years a little easier Mr Kitridge has divided the bookshelves into sections like romance, suspense, crime, history, plants and fungi etc.

To return books just walk up to the appropriate shelf and hold up the book. The gripping charm in place on the shelves will take a hold of the book. When you feel a tug on the book let go and the book will fly up and find its right place amongst the other books on the shelves. When retrieving a book you can use the sliding ladders or if you feel confident with your magic you can use a simple accio charm to retrieve the book you want.

In front of each aisle there is small set of desks which students can use to complete homework, copy notes, take book references or chat. Keep your voices down and be mindful of falling books and other students accessing books around you.

Happy reading and learning!

Absolutely downcast from his own failure in Astronomy, James had decided that he was going to read all the books he could. With tears in his eyes, he settled down at the desks with a stack of books and started reading as tears fell onto the books now he was alone. Why couldn't he just have been right?

Humming on tune he had picked up on his wireless radio while preparing a snack earlier that day Leo pushed his book trolly towards the biggest section of bookshelves. He had worked his way up and down the shelves putting back books that had previously been loaned out when he came across a boy hanging over a book weeping tears. To not startle the boy Leo called out "Hello, are you all right?"

Oh, fishsticks. All right? "No, I'm half left." he answered as he tried to wipe his tears. His mum said that all the time. He looked up during a brief pause in his tears and saw it was the LIBRARIAN. "Oh... I'm sorry... your books..." he immediately tried to wipe away the tears with his robe sleeve. "I didn't mean to. I was trying to -HIC- learn what I did wrong." Great, now he had the hiccups from being upset. Great job, James.

For Shan. ^_^

Lux was in need of a new book to read, so that meant a trip to the library.

Quietly humming a tune under her breath, the redhead browsed the different shelves of books. She loved reading and could finish novels in a few days if she had the time and desire to. Maybe she would spend a good part of the day here since she didn't really have anywhere else to go at the moment.

Picking up a romance novel, she had to laugh at the cover. They were always so cheesy. Back it went and maybe she would head to another section because this genre wasn't really her thing. Ooooh, maybe she could read a crime or mystery book!

'I'm half left.' It sounded like something one of his parent's would say not an eleven year old boy. Shrugging Leo dropped the books he was holding back down into the trolley with a small thud before he crossed the floor to the boy. "Don't worry about the books," Leo said with a gentle smile as he handed over a folded handkerchief. "I put water repelling charms on the books so they can stand a few tears being splashed over them." Merlin knew that the books had seen worse. Raising a brow Leo asked "You meam you were trying to learn what you did wrong in class?" It seemed to be the most likely case or he was totally wrong out.

He took the handkerchief and wiped his eyes. "Thank you." His voice was quiet and sad. Oh, at least the books were safe. James just nodded at that tidbit of information and wiped the tears away from the book with the handkerchief. "Yes." How had he gotten the information so wrong??

Meanwhile, building a pile of books on transfiguration theory was a small Ravenclaw first year with a bee in his bonnet about something he'd heard that morning. Now it wasn't what he had heard that bothered him, but Rooney wanted to know the why and the how of this thing. Actually, he wanted to understand it's actual existence, and had taken up reading through textbooks to get the answer he wanted. The pile sat at his feet, glad that he had just mastered the spell to levitate his books ahead of him... because this pile was heavy and he wasn't the tallest.

His mother was only a small person.

He put a book back on the shelf after flicking through it and considering it useless and tried to reach a book on a taller shelf.

....... By climbing on the pile he already had.

It was okay though. He had pretty good balance. For now.

Walking a little further along, Lux continued to pick up books at random before placing them back on the shelf. Maybe she was picky, but she had certain tastes in the books she read. As she moved around the corner, she continued humming - and almost ran right into a little boy who was climbing on a pile of books.

Confusion gave way to amusement, and she smiled. It wasn't that she was making fun of the First Year, it was just that she found the whole thing adorable. Mr. Kitridge might not be as amused, however, given the face that his property was being stepped on. "Would you like me to get the book down for you?" she asked him kindly. It wouldn't be very good if he slipped and fell.

Noel Wallace was beat. He just wanted to drop all the books he currently had in his arms and go practice with his band - no matter how tense they were.

OWLs were not suppose to take over his life or so he had hoped. He had gotten a lot of studying done today, thank merlin but he did not have the strength to go to EACH shelf and place back the books he had taken out. It was too much work and he was really hungry.

Deciding to give himself a breather, the boy collapsed down on the floor and resting the huge pile of books beside him. Leaning back on the large shelf, he fetched out the remaining pumpkin pasties in his pocket. Ah yes. This would do.

Bianca brushed her hair away from her face as she entered the library. She was rarely in the library because if there was anything she really needed to know, she could ask someone else. It really was a shame the school didn't have wifi and google couldn't find a thing she needed about the Wizarding World even if she did have wifi.

The Gryffindor was bored though and looking for some books that were somewhat interesting. Walking down the aisle, while running her fingers down the spines of books, Bianca tripped over a stack of books.

"Excuse me, Wally, but you really ought to mind where you put those books."

And cue eye glare because she definitely did not like him. But she did like pumpkin pasties and if he offered her one she would not object to it. However, if he continued to be the annoyance she saw him to be, she would punch him in the face... again.

Noel saw the delusional queen bee coming, oh yes. He was debating how to do something like set her robes on fire or turn her hair ugly shade of green but then she tripped. Bwahaha. Noel CACKLED, making no attempt to move and help her. Instead he helped himself to another pumpkin pasty before saying: "Oh sweet merlin, thank you for the entertainment"

WALLY? Ugh. The grin wavered because he HATED that name. But it was blow for blow, basically.

"Why can't you watch where you are going, Caruso?" he asked, crossing his ankles and not apologetic at all.

Rolling her eyes, Bianca simply nudged the books away with her foot. "What are those books for anyways? Trying to become a better photographer?" she asked with a smirk on her face. Yes, she was going to continue to rub it in his face that she was superior to him in photography. And she would also like to rub her fist in his face but she'd refrain from doing that.

Since she was so nice and all.

"Or maybe you could put your things at a study table so you're not a nuisance blocking everyone's path." Duh. She just leaned on a bookcase and picked up a random book about runes. Ugh. How boring. But just to annoy him, she turned the pages so they'd make a sound and pretended to be engrossed in it.

Noel just gave her a 'dead pan' look when she took a dig at him about the 'photographer' thing. THAT was centuries ago, ok? Noel was over it. Oh yes. So he tilted his head and said: "... what happened, Caruso, running out new material?"

....

Reflecting on her tone, Noel shrugged: "Or not. Do you see me caring if you fall or not?" Honestly. WHY did she think she was such a queen? WHY.

Sighing rather exaggeratedly, Noel added: "Why are you here anyway? Shouldn't you be doing make up and twirling around with your boyfriend?" dumb boyfriend with a dumb name.

She slid the book back into place because no matter how hard she tried to look engross in that book there was no way she would ever find it interesting. Rolling her eyes, she felt tempted to pull out the book and throw it at his head. "Wally, I don't sit around trying to think of ways to make fun of you. I have a life." Duh.

Which then made her wonder why she was even in the library. Really, she should just find the babe and hang out with her instead.

"Honestly, the longer you sit there on the ground, the more I think you're a bug. It's getting hard to resist the temptation to step on you." And then squash him. And hex him. And throw him off of the Astronomy tower.

...

Why was she here again?! She didn't even know but she couldn't tell him that. And ouch the boyfriend thing was a bit of a sore spot for her wasn't it? "It's really none of your business what I'm doing here, isn't it? For all you know, I'm studying. Plus, my make up is already on point."

While Bianca pretended to read the book, Noel watched her with a 'really?' look. He knew she was not really reading. He smirked before throwing a pumpkin pasty in her lap - what? he was being polite and sharing - and said: "Really, Caruso? Are you sure? Because I have a feeling you are quiet obsessed with me" Oh yes. "Why else would you come into the library? It's certainly not for your brain."

The bug comment only made him roll his eyes and mouth 'bla bla bla' until she was finished talking.

And then he snorted because he DID notice how she avoided the boyfriend thing. Oh yes. "What happened, Caruso? Did the dumb boyfriend do something dumb? Did he not worship you today?" he asked, in mock sympathy. He, of course, knew Chance would have done something stupid. He expected nothing else from him. Ugh. If only he could punch him again.

She looked at the pumpkin pasty in her lap and raised a brow. Was it poisoned? Bianca was pretty sure that was the only reason he would give her one. "I'm so not obsessed with you. You're not even that cute." She rolled her eyes and picked up the snack. "And is this poisoned?" Not that he'd actually tell her. Wouldn't make sense to tell someone you were poisoning them with the food they were about to eat. She sniffed the sweet and wrinkled her nose. Probably poisoned. "And I come to the library to enrich my learning experience while I'm here at Hogwarts. Obviously."

Total lie but who cares right? Most of the people here were only here to socialize and make friends.

Bianca tossed the pumpkin pasty back at him. "I don't have a boyfriend. And I don't need some guy to worship me." Because she was above that and all she really needed was good friends like Puck. And with that she pushed all thoughts of him rejecting her to the back of her mind. "And that has nothing to do with you anyways."

Leo was relieved that he had taken upon the tedious task of water and fire proofing the vast book selection of the library. It paid off now since he for one thing could focus on the sad boy instead of worrying about any potential damage to the books. Gesturing to a small dark green sofa at the end of the aisle Leo offered. "Why, don't we go and sit down over there and you can tell me what happened in class? I'm Leobald Kitridge by the way, librarian and Ravenclaw Head of House and you young man is a proud Hufflepuff right?"

Rooney looked to his left and shook his head. "I'm fine, I promise. I have the balance of a trapeze artist!" Or something like that. He was a professional at walking the plank when Calliope and he played pirates in the garden. Actually, he bet that they could make great planks out of the book shelves here. Not that he would suggest it to Lop, because she'd be straight there and then she'd get in trouble and he'd have to say it was his idea and probably get kicked out of school. With a smile at the girl, he gestured loosely to the pile of books. "You can keep an eye on those though. Just in case." Because he was going to be fine.

He had the balance of a trapeze artist? Lux wasn't sure how convinced she felt about that... Not that she thought the boy was lying, just she didn't want to risk something happening and him getting hurt. It would not be nice to end up in the Hospital Ward and she would feel terrible for him.

At least she could watch the books like he suggested, and yes she would do a fantastic job at it. Hopefully she wouldn't get into big trouble with Mr. Kitridge because she really liked him, but nothing was damaged. "So what book are you so intent on getting?" Just curious. If there was one thing that she had a lot of, it was questions.

"The one with the red spine!" And he was alMOST there! So close, completely close. Just a few more centimetres. Rooney stretched a little further and his middle finger caught the edge of the book, but he was at maximum stretching potential and needed just a little boost. Reaching to a lower shelf, Rooney grabbed a book and added it to the pile under his feet and smiled at the girl. "I'm fine. Stop worrying." Was he going to have to take HER to the Healer because of a panic attack?

Girls.

The one with the red spine. Lux had to laugh a little at that. She liked this boy so far, he seemed cool and pretty funny. He also seemed pretty determined to get the book, so must be something really interesting! She was curious to see what it was about. A lot of things made her curious.

Oh. Right. She must have been showing her concern, and look another book added to the pile he was standing on. Hopefully it wouldn't cause everything to fall, including him. "I think that's one of the Hufflepuff traits." Not that they were always worriers, but maybe it was one of their attributes!!

"Oh come on, I am a little cute," he added before realizing what he had just said. What? Did he actually just say THAT? Perhaps ... he was spending too much time with Benzi.

And then he laughed loudly enough to attract attention. Oh yes. When he could control himself enough to laugh in pauses, he lowered his voice and added: "I have NEVER seen you with a book, Bianca. Please, my lungs hurt" It was TOO FUNNY.

He finally stopped when she threw that pasty back at him though and picked it up to EAT it. Just to show her that no, crazy woman - it was not poisoned. When she spoke again, Noel just watched her. Hmm. It felt like a sore subject but that only made him want to ask more. Because he was just so sure the dumb gryffindor boy had done something - which would also explain why he saw her with Hayley these days.

- so even though she said it had NOTHING to do with him, he still asked: "What happened?"

She raised a brow. Was he flirting with her because she was so not interested in him. Even if he looked a little cute... maybe. "Nope. I'd put you right there with trolls on the hotness ranking." There, that got all thoughts of him being anywhere near remotely attractive out of her head. Trolls were disgusting and so was he.

She didn't understand why he was laughing. Taking a book, she used it and hit him on the shoulder with it. Bianca was tempted to use the book and just fling it at his head but she refrained. The librarian probably didn't want Wally's brains all over the book. "You," she growled, hitting him with the book again, "see" whack "me" whack "with" whack "one now!" That probably got the message across.

Taking a breath, and gently putting the book back down, she smoothed out her hair. The lioness was not going to let him get on her nerves any more than he already had. She did notice that the pumpkin pasty was not poisoned and now wanted one though. However Bianca refused to ask for one.

Biting her lip, she really didn't want to talk about the whole situation. Breathe, Bianca. She closed her eyes. "It's really none of your business but I asked him if he wanted to be my boyfriend and he said no. So. Shut it and give me a pumpkin pasty."

Noel rolled his eyes before nodding, "Of course you would know who ranks closest to the trolls, since you are their queen and all" he said with a bored expression. Honestly .... their bickering got just sad after a while and he wished they would NOT but apparently they both couldn't help it.

He was JUST starting to breathe after laughing so hard when the hitting started. WAIT. WAHO. OOOWWW..... the fudge? Frowning, the boy grabbed her wrist just in time before she broke his something. "You seriously have some pent up aggression, Caruso! Watch it before I am not in a friendly mood anymore" Geez.

Letting her wrist go, the boy TRIED to be in a better mood again but the whole thing was ruined, wasn't it? Because Chance. And Hayley. And ......... he said no to her? Noel exactly knew HOW that felt? While he hadn't asked Maddie the same thing - he had been rejected too, yeah? Not sure how to take the new information Noel ... did what he thought was okay ... he threw a pumpkin pasty in her lap yet again.

.....

He stayed quiet for the longest time because .. for the first time since they had met he didn't want to say anything that would annoy her. Instead, he just drummed his fingers idly on the pile of books next to him. And then when he thought it might be appropriate, he said: "So .. do you want to light things on fire or something to cool off"
