History of Magic Lesson 2 The walk down the first floor corridor is a rather dusty one, something that might be reminiscent to walking through a rarely visited attic. Cobwebs are present in every corner, some larger than others. It appears someone had neglected cleaning this part of the castle. Are the house elves on strike? The "Make an Entrance" sign hanging outside the classroom happens to be cobweb-free, however. Professor Glendower made sure to clean it up on her way into the room as she got there early to prepare for her lesson. Once inside the classroom, you might first notice the covered boxes at the front of the room as well as several brooms propped up next to them. Perhaps Professor Glendower had been using them to clean up the cobwebs that had grown in this room as well since the last time class was in session. In fact, you might notice her using some spellwork to finish tidying up while she's humming an old Disney tune that she and a student had been playing recently next door. Once you greet her, she'll be sure to welcome you with a smile on her face. So, come in and take a seat, class will begin soon! Class Progression Question One Question Two Try out some games Create a new game |
GOSH! WHAT WAS WITH THE DUST? Adi non verbally cast the Scouring Charm at some parts of the corridor as he walked by. First spider webs, now this, Hmph. At least the classroom had none of the former. WOOT! "NO cobwebs,'' he said loudly and unnecessarily to announce his presence. "Phew! That's a relief because I don't think you'd like to see me covered in them again, Professor. Hello, by the way.'' A nice bright smile for the nice lady who had helped mend things between him and Benny. He loved her for it. ''Do you need help? After making sure that Glendower didn't need help and taking in the covered things and brooms, the Hufflepuff did a shuffle as he hummed a tune of his own as he went to find a seat. |
History of Magic... The class that had taken place and involved the big blow up between him and Adi. It might have been awkward to walk into, had he and his bestie not fixed things after the joint werewolf lesson. As it was the only thing weird about his journey to the classroom was walking around all the cobwebs along the first floor corridor. They really were crazy around the castle. Benny took out his wand to try and clean and wound up sneezing instead. "AchOOO!" Great...just great. After the second attempt failed , the sixth year gave up and just hurried to the right door. Stepping inside, it was good to see that it was cleaner inside. With one final sneeze, "Achoo," he gathered himself and looked around. "Hello Professor" he greeted with a soft smile. Glendower did deserve some respect and thanks to her help in getting him and Adi to understand each other. Speaking of which... "Hey Adi," he greeted, heading towards the Hufflepuff. |
It was time for another lesson. History of Magic this time. Hady was prepared for the lesson as she usually was. However what she wasn't prepared was all the dust and cobwebs that covered the corridor to the room! Good gosh this was insane. What was going on around this castle lately. Crinkling her nose a little the third year quickly made her way down the corridor doing her best not to sneeze. Hady had managed not to sneeze from all the dust but that didn't keep her from coughing quietly into the crook of her elbow. Frowning slightly she made her way into the room very much glad to see it was clean. Awesome job tidying up Professor! Dropping her arm from her face she inhaled a breath of fresh and looked around the room. "Hello Professor," she greeted warmly making way for her usual desk giving Adi and slight nod of her head in greeting as she passed him. |
Where had all of these cobwebs come from? And where had all of the spiders that made the webs come from? She had seen a few house elves cleaning around the castle, so perhaps the problem was not the house elves, but more spiders than usual. If this was true, where did all of the spiders come from? Entering the classroom, Penelope noticed that the classroom was just as dusty and covered in cobwebs as the corridor. "Hello Professor Glendower!" She noticed something moving near the corner of her eye. It was just a loose strand of hair... Or was it? There was something moving on her hair. Penelope pulled the section of hair in question to the front of her face and found herself staring at a spider. How did that get there? "There's a spider in my hair." There was a SPIDER IN HER HAIR! Not that she was scared of spiders or anything like that. Penelope just stood there staring at the spider that was crawling on her hair. It was sort of interesting to watch, but that did not mean that it could stay in her hair. How was she supposed to get it off of her? |
Was that Make an entrance sign over-endowed with magical protections? How did it manage to stay so clean and free of all dust and dirt despite the look of everything around it? And hello, Hogwarts had a spider problem as evidenced from this and the wall in the dungeons. Cutty thought about catching one and then training it to do his evil bidding. Mostly, seeing if it might be interesting in life as a collections officer. He took out his wand, pointed it at the soles of his shoes and after opening the door proceeded to gliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide in. He'd used a spell to make his shoes slippery so that he could more or less ice skate in, which upon hearing the music Glendower was humming he choreographed accordingly. "Nice tune, Professor. Kinda ja...!" He abruptly hit his thigh against the back of his desk chair and stopped. "Jazzy." He finished with a smile. |
Toby had grown accustomed to dusty and cobwebby corridors and classrooms by now, though the cobwebs still made him think of spiders. Aside from being unnerved by that, it made him feel weirdly nostalgic; Toby's first term had been a term of major budget cuts AND a significant lack of house elves, and everything had been all grimy and dusty and dirty. In a way, this made him think of that. It was weirdly poetic... y'know... first term, last term sort of thing. He DID notice the lack of cobwebs on the sign however, even as unobservant as he usually was. As a result, Toby poked his head curiously inside the room before stepping inside properly, trying to scout out if the inside of the room was as clean as... the sign. Soooooo... that could probably count as his ENTRANCE, right? Because for a moment Toby totally forgot about making a proper entrance, and so had to belated tack on some dramatic JAZZ HANDS as he went over to his usual seat by the window. "Hey, Professor Glendower," the Hufflepuff said as he took his seat and started setting up. Then he noticed what looked like broom handles propped up at the front of the room, and instantly began craning his neck to get a proper look and see if they were the FLYING kind of broom? Would they be flying? Pleeeeease? WAS IT THAT KIND OF BROOM? HE COULDN'T TELL. Toby seemed to realise what he was doing after a moment or two, paused suddenly, and went back to sitting properly in his seat, fidgeting with his quill as per usual. Nothing untoward here. Nope. |
Ewww. What was with all the dust and cobwebs? It wasn't like the elves to slack off on their duties. She made a face. This time for her entrance, Lux decided to do a moonwalk. She was pretty good at it if she said so herself. Hehe. "Hello, Professor Glendower. I hope you are well." About to ask if the woman needed any help, she noticed that most of the tidying up seemed to be done already. She did wonder what was in the boxes as she waved to her friends and took a seat near the front of the class. |
Angel was walking around trying to think about what she was going to do to make an entrance to the lesson when she suddenly noticed all the cobwebs. She started to walk a bit then she suddenly noticed something. They were being invaded by spiders and she heard that Hogwarts had some very strange spiders, like kid eating ones, right? "ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRR!!!" Angel screamed, running towards the History of Magic Classroom, yeah it would be safe in their right. Angel suddenly saw Benny and went and hid behind him, peaking up she noticed the Professor. "Hi Professor, hope your well." Angel had to remember to be polite but after that, she went and hid behind her boyfriend, peeking around him every so often. |
What in the freaking name of Merlin? Grayson wasn't exactly the fussy type but all this dust was getting kinda ridiculous, wasn't it? Dude had never seen the castle so dirty and it only got annoying when tiny clouds of dust flew up whenever there was a stampede of people running from one class to another. At this rate, there was gonna be more dust and cobwebs at Hogwarts than drama and that was saying a lot. His entrance? His presence was enough of an entrance, thank you. And he couldn't be bothered to think of a proper entrance that wouldn't embarrass him beyond compare but c'mon, that didn't sound as good of an answer. So strutting was happening. "Heeeeey, Professor Glendower," he said, shooting her a small smile and a nod of his head. Glendower was nice and always seemed to find a way to make her lessons interesting, even if it was at the expense of embarrassing them at the same time. But interesting. A bit like those brooms over there. Grayson shot a curious look in that direction as he made his way towards a seat. Here's hoping that they weren't gonna be made to clean up the classroom because how freaking boring would that be? Once seated, he looked away from the brooms to wink over at Cutty, whom he decided to sit next to. 'Sup, Mordaunt. |
You couldn't really enjoy a stroll down a cobweb invested hall when you weren't on your hands and knees. Crawling about and popping her gum, she investigated the spider situation. Yeah, she already had a jar of pet spiders up in her common room, but what girl couldn't use another? Pop. Crawl. Smack. Crawl. Surely there would be more spiders towards the floor. Out of sight... AJ blew a HUGE bubble with her gum when she heard a scream. A scream that sounded an awful lot like it belonged to her sister. POP! The gum remnants were all over her face, and she stood up and ran to the classroom. Looking inside with wild eyes, she noticed her sister was hiding behind Benny. "Wha--" A scream like that meant certain death. AJ was sure of it. As it turns out her sister was just being a diva about something. Figures. She rolled her eyes and tucked the wand she didn't remember taking out from her back pocket back into it's rightful place. "Hey Ben. Hey Adi," she said as she pawed at the gum pieces stuck to her face. Oh erm... she was supposed to make an entrance. She swallowed her gum, bit her bottom lip and bowed. "Hello professor... lovely broom you have." Ahem. |
Okay. There were these cobwebs again. What the heck was going on? Did someone forget to clean the castle or something!? Normally, it didn't really bother the Gryffindor, but Merlin this was getting rather ridiculous. Something should seriously be done about this. Just saying. Also the familiar sign was to be expected, except for Zander didn't know what kind of entrance to make this time. You'd think it'd become easier to think of creative ways to enter a classroom? WRONG. After being creative so many times in a row, he was starting to lose inspiration. So he settled with a lame walking in backwards. He'd think of something better for the next time. Maybe he could attempt the juggling trick again? And this time not drop all the books? It was worth a shot. He'd have to try it out next time. It was decided. "Hello, Professor!" He wasn't going to comment on the cobwebs. She probably couldn't get rid of them either. Ahem. Then he slowly made his way over near Grayson and Cutty to take a seat near them. Hi Slytherin friends. |
With a big smile on her face she walked into the History of Magic classroom. She was still happy about finally being seventeen but she was also pretty scared about it! She was considered an adult in the Wizarding World and could apparate and stuff! How was that not awesome? "Good Afternoon Professor Glendower." She said with a smile and a wave. "How are you today?" The Sixth year asked as she took a seat in the front row. Emmylou looked around the classroom to see who was here. As she looked around she also saw cobwebs. She was in such a good mood that not even a dusty cobweb filled room could bring her down. She sent a small wave over to Lux and a wave and a "Hello." to PREFECT Zander. |
Henric had a new hairdo today, it had been cut short to a point whereby he didn't have to put hairgel anymore. His hair colour had changed to even more darker brown now.He wondered if anyone he knew noticed the changes he made to his appearance. And when he walked up to the History of Magic classroom, he couldn't help notice the cobwebs hanging everywhere around him. It was like a spider's nest in here. He swept away the cobwebs attached to his clothes and greeted the professor. "Hello professor, nice to see you again, its a little dusty in here,I can help with the cleaning if you want after class,"he smiled. He then headed to his usual seat at the back. He spotted Adi...and Benny...they seemed to make up already. He didn't say anything towards them and just sat a few seats away from the bestfriends. He didn't want Benny to think he was stealing his bestfriend away again. He quietly took out his parchment and waited for the class to start. |
SPOILER!!: Nice buzz cuz Ilia filed into class amongst her fellow students, still scanning the ground everywhere she walked. She was still hoping to randomly find her toad daughter somewhere. From the moment Henric told her, she had not stopped hoping or looking. She paused in her search long enough to look up at the professor with a faint smile. " Hello professor. " Her eyes shifted to the rest of the classroom, searching for the only person that made her feel truly secure. It took her a moment of staring at him to process that it was him and she wasn't imagining things. That was absolutely her best friend, his hair had taken a 180 shift though. It looked good, but it was quite different. Sitting beside him, a soft , curious smile touched her lips. " What a change." The little blonde gently brushed the new style with her finger tips. " It looks good on you though." It did look rather fetching on him. Had he gotten taller too? Her best friend was starting to mature and starting his transition to being a man. He wasn't much older than herself. Had she begun to change without realising it too? |
As Janelle made her way to History of Magic class, she noticed that things seemed a tad.......dusty. If that wasn't bad enough, there were cobwebs everywhere. Fortunately, she hadn't seen any spiders.......yet. Janelle didn't mind spiders and random bugs if they were outside, but inside? That was just a big no. Before she entered the classroom, the familiar "Make an Entrance" sign greeted Janelle. You would think that by now, she would have a list of entrances ready. Unfortunately, she did not. On the spot, she decided to do jumping jacks on her way into the classroom. "Hello Professor Glendower", Janelle said cheerfully. She wanted to ask what was up with the cobwebs, but she kept it to herself. Finding a seat, the second year got her things ready and waited for class to begin. |
Kate walked down the first floor corridor on the way to History of Magic class. This reminded her--she should really start working more on those journal entries she needed to do. She'd only done two so far. She eyed the cobwebs. What was the deal with those things anyway? Kate knew the castle was old, but she at least thought they'd keep it clean. Walking through the door, Kate glanced up toward the professor. "Hello, Professor," she said, giving the lady a smile. There were boxes and brooms around the room, but Kate guessed she would figure out why in just a little bit. She took a seat and waited for the lesson to get underway. |
Make an entrance? While she was sneezing and dying? It was hard to focus enough on the task at hand, finding a seat and breathing and walking at the same time, let alone putting on a show. Dot tugged her tie up around her nose and curtsied politely for the professor's benefit. ACHOO. "G'day, Professor." She looked for a desk that was as clean and bright as possible. Erm... why were they stuck up in the dirty bit of the school? |
Eden had never seen so many cobwebs in HER LIFE...not EVEN at those fake haunted houses during Halloween. Merlin. That was gross...Eden wanted if she should try to scourgify some of them as she walked in--but she just slipped into the classroom and took a seat...she was never one to make a huge entrance, anyways. "Good day, Professor--" she said softly as she flipped through her notebook to a fresh page for today's note taking. And she thought about maybe seeing the elves about cleaning the cobwebs...hmmm. |

Okay, good, it was about time to begin and she took to the front of the room. "Good day class! First, I must apologize for the cobwebs on the way into the room. I'm not sure what's going on there... Luckily I was early enough here today to clean up the classroom before you all arrived, so at least we have a clean room to hold our lesson." The state of this whole floor was a little ridiculous and she wasn't sure if she somehow annoyed the elves that they didn't want to clean her little area of the castle or what. Perhaps she could make amends, though she knew of at least a couple other areas that weren't cobweb-free either. And even though her class announcement did ask students to wear comfortable clothes for today, that still didn't make it okay to get dirty while they were getting some History of Magic edutainment. Pushing those thoughts aside, she focused on her lesson for the day. "I was hoping to have a light-hearted fun lesson today.. and I think a great topic for that would be games. We are going to talk about games throughout history. Let's start by naming some games, favorite or not. Please try not to repeat anything as there are plenty of games. Or mention something about one other than just the name if someone took your answer." |

When the spider had been removed, Penelope found a seat and took out parchment and a quill for taking notes. They were going to focus on games today? This lesson, like all of Professor Glendower's lessons, would be fun. What games did she know about? There were plenty of games to choose from. "Gobstones." She liked playing gobstones and she had participated in a few matches. |
Zhenya settled into her seat to start the lesson. The cobwebs were a bit freaky, and she knew what little critter created those things... so she was a bit on edge at the thought of spiders being near her. UGH. She tried to lose her mind in the subject; games! Maybe they would spend the lesson playing some games or something? That would be fun. Zhenya had a think of some games that she had played as a child and raised her hand, "Exploding Snap, I still play that game. One of my favourites." |
SPOILER!!: Before class Games? He had plenty of games in his head he could actually list them all.Plenty of computer muggle games though...he wondered if they were valid answers for the History of Magic professor. He didn't think she would know any of the games he played anyway so maybe not. He thought of a more safe answer and raised his hand,"Professor, what about water balloon game?" They played with water balloons before in Astronomy class before.Yep. |
Angel smiled as she went from behind Benny to sitting near him, seriously this was awesome and the Professor didn't seem mad with her screaming either. Did she scare anyone at all? she hoped not it wouldn't have been nice though did her sister get covered in bubble-gum because of her? She had come in just after her after all. Angel raised her hand after the Professor spoke. "There is a board game that muggles have called perfect wedding." Angel's knew what her perfect wedding would be but there was no need to tell anyone else, and she didn't really know of any wizard games over than exploding snap and gobstones which had already been mentioned. |
Marsha didn’t particularly like cobwebs, or webcobs as her mam called them when she was little to make her giggle, but she didn’t mind spiders when she saw them… Or at least from experience she didn’t but she hadn’t seen any really large, magical ones yet so she held the right to not like them. However, this was History of Magic time and that meant Professor Glendower… who was awesome. Though, since they were still making their manuscripts, she wondered what class would be about today. Slipping into the classroom, she had waved and smiled Nessarose as she did a quick rolling cartwheel and then got out of the way of the door. Marsha looked around for somewhere to sit, and smiled at the empty seat next to Cutty. ”Hi Cutty, can I sit here?” Just incase he was saving the seat for someone else… obviously it was just polite. When he gave her a nod, she slid into the seat and took out her materials for note-taking. ”How are you today?” She asked while giving him a once over, trying to figure out if he was feeling better or worse than the last time she had seen him. OH. They were starting, awesome. Games? Games…. Nice! ”Well, Professor there is obviously Quidditch… Which can be played at many different levels, such as just for fun, at school and I believe there is an under 17s league as well as the actual leagues around Britain and the world.” Yup, her … Granda’s sister was a coach and she loved it. Hehe. |
