Divination Lesson Two

http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/...spnizkdhi.jpeg

As you walk through the trap door things might seem a little odd, but really when have they been normal? The smell of lavender fills the room. Long science lab looking tables sit neatly in pairs with four stools around them. At each table there are four vials of something red and four vials with something yellowish. The note of the board says not to touch until instructed. Professor Cassie is sitting in her usual seat at the front of the class sipping some tea. The table near her has tea cups for anyone who would like some. As always a little snap cup is sitting where all the students can see.

Time for another Divination Lesson. It had been a while since he had seen Professor Cassie and he was starting to miss her. He was excited to go to this lesson and wondered what they were going to learn. As he made his way up the large staircase and he was panting and out of breath. Man he really needed to go to the gym or something. Like this out of breath thing was ridiculous. Once he gained his composure, he went up the ladder to the Divination classroom and noticed he was the first one here! SWEET! He smiled and was proud of himself. Look at you Lecium being ahead of the game.

As he went to look for his seat, he noticed there was vials there. He looked at them and gave a puzzled look and wondered what they could be used for today. Ah well Professor Cassie would explain. Speaking of Professor Cassie, he noticed her sipping her tea. "Well hello there Professor." he smiled warmly. "It is nice to see you again. I am keen to know what we are gonna learn. I really enjoyed the gastronomy lesson last time." he beamed. I mean not because because he could be a dude and burp out anytime he felt like it, but it was just low key. The classes he loved.

Once he said his greeting, he went over to his desk and began to doodle in his sketchbook. He would stop of course when the Professor would start her lesson.

FearlessLeader19 06-14-2015 02:45 AM

To the Divination classroom he went!

Adi did note the smell in the room but he was far more intrigued by the tables and yellow and red liquids in the vials. Whatever were they? Professor Cassie had spiked his curiosity. Speaking of the lady... there she was sipping her tea as usual. "Hello, Professor! You've got me curious about this.'' The Hufflepuff waved a hand in general at the room. Oh! And the snap cup... Adi had brought his proud moment already written on parchment which he dropped. That done, he shuffled off to join Kace. "Hiya, buddy!'' How about a fist bump?

Adi had already noticed what the board said but that didn't stop him for thrusting his face at the vials to try to figure out what they were. Hehe.

SPOILER!!: Proud Moment!
I am proud of AJ for working so hard to get so many points for Gryffindor.

As Kace was sketching, he noticed Adi sat down next to him. He beamed at his fellow puff sitting next to him. "Heyy Mr. Prefect." he grinned at him. He saw him do the fist bump motion and he gave it right back. Oh bloody merlin he forgot about his proud moment. He got his notebook out of his backpack and got a piece of paper and ripped it out. He began to think of a proud moment and snapped his fingers and began to write.....

SPOILER!!: Proud Moment

I am proud of finally knowing what I want to do when I graduate Hogwarts.

There that sounded legit. He peaked at what Adi wrote and he grinned, it was adorable. He began to talk to Adi and caught up with old times before class began.

It was Divination time again and Janelle was happy that she was one of the early birds. As she entered the room, she gave a greeting to the professor. "Hello Professor Cassie. How are you today?" Janelle always enjoyed being around positive people and no one was more upbeat than the Divination professor. Seeing two other familiar faces, she offered them greetings as well. "Hi Kace, Hi Adi", she said as she gave them both a wave.

Then Janelle found a seat at an empty table and removed her things from her book bag. Well this was a different set up today. Noting the vials of liquid on the tables, she couldn't imagine what they would be up to today. One thing she could count on was the snaps cup. Janelle prepared her proud moment and added it to the cup.

SPOILER!!: Janelle's proud moment
I am proud that I made someone happy today.

Henric didn't sleep well yesterday because he had the same nightmare again. He did what Professor Cassie told him and wrote it all down in his dream journal. He would need to discuss it with her privately soon. He didn't want anyone else to know what was bothering him lately. He yawned as he entered the classroom. Oh look...the classroom had changed into a science lab! Nice...were they going to do some experiment? And also... this brilliant lavender smell was really something...he liked it all the more!

"Hi professor, its nice to see you again..."he greeted, flashing a smile towards one of his favourite professors in Hogwarts. He reached in his bag to show his dream journal a little and whispered,"I did what you ask, professor..."he said, putting back his dream journal as fast as he could so nobody else could see it.

He then waved to the rest of his friends, Adi and Kace who were already there first. "Hi guys,"he greeted before joining them at their table. He looked down to see a note he should write in his snapcup.

SPOILER!!: Henric's Proud Moment
I'm proud to be alive and well today.

Henric stared at his own note for a moment, strong words to put in his snapcup but he guessed it would do. He shrugged,he really did feel like that....

Suziella 06-14-2015 04:31 AM

Bleu quietly walked in whispering a quiet, "Hello," to the professor. She had to think for a few moments about what she was proud about that she had accomplished this week. she quickly wrote something down and dropped it in the snap cup.

Quote:

I sang a high note that I was never able to hit before.
She looked around at all the tables, and picked one that was currently empty. Hopefully someone would sit with her. If not...she was ok with being alone too.

kayquilz 06-14-2015 04:48 AM

Today's class already seemed like an interesting one. After climbing up to Divination after scarfing down a snack in the Great Hall, Eden was POOPED OUT, YEAH? She smiled and waved at Professor Morgan before COLLAPSING dramatically into one of the many chairs at a table. She didn't exactly notice the vials yet.

Hmm.

She didn't know why she was proud of herself today...

Quote:

I am proud of the fact that I kept up with all of my homework this week.
There. PROUD MOMENT DONE--wait what were those vials? Eden wanted to tap on one curiously...hmm...

Sararara 06-14-2015 06:22 AM

Norah entered the divination classroom looking around hopefully for some food. Professor Cassie did that a lot, yeah? Cheese and fruit and crackers and all that good stuff. But guess WHAT. Her looking was all sorts of useless beccause there wasn't any food at all, and instead there was all sorts of weird science-ish stuff which meant nothing to eat at all 'cause you couldn't eat science. Everybody knew that. You'd probably end up with stuff growing out of your ears or something.

Despite the lack of edible wonderfulness, she greeted Professor Cassie with a big smile and a bright "Hello!" as she passed. Before taking a seat, she paused to scribble down the first proud thought she could come up with:
Quote:

I'm proud that I climbed up all the stairs to get here without complaining or fainting or something
Aaaand into the snap cup it went. It totally counted, right? Glancing around at the other students, she took a seat on one of the stools and inspected the table instead of unpacking her bag. What WAS this stuff?

WhittyBitty 06-14-2015 06:29 AM

The first thing that Lux noticed upon entering the room was the strange vials. Raising her brow, she was was very curious but knew better than to ask.

"Hello, Professor Cassie. How are you?" Waving to her friends she made her way to her seat. It was awesome to sit by her friends and she was so happy after the Christmas holidays. Beaming she wrote up her moment for the SNAP cup.

Quote:

I am proud of myself for learning more about potions.
There. Into the cup her paper went. Now could she inspect those vials?

nanyjj 06-14-2015 09:16 AM

Divination Lesson! Leah was more than excited for this one. She could not help but wonder what they were going to cover this time - hopefully something as interesting as what they learned in the previous lesson. She made her way up, up, up the steps and into the Divination tower, inhaling deeply after doing so. This could be a moment she was proud of. It COULD be.

Oooh, there were vials here. Vials of... something. Was this Potions class? Because Divination + Potions could be some interesting stuff. It could also be dangerous, since the note on the board clearly told them not to touch anything unless instructed. Oh well. "Hi, Professor Cassie!" she smiled and took a cup of tea herself.

Leah then wandered over to find a seat. She grabbed a free spot next to her Housemate Norah. "Hellooo," she grinned before writing down her proud moment.

SPOILER!!: Leah's proud moment
I am proud of being EXCITED for this lesson!

And into the little snap cup it went.

Zhenya arrived in the Divination classroom, where a handful of other students had already assembled. She noted the lab benches and potions (or something) on the tables, and was very eager to get her hands on them. Were they doing experiments? ooooo!!!

"Hello Professor Cassie," Zhenya said with a smile on her dial. She decided a cup of tea would be lovely, so she got a cup and went to sit down next to Lux. "Hiya Lux," she said, looking at the vials. "I wonder what we're doing today. Cool if we did some kind of experiment with them."

She wrote a proud moment on her parchment and went up to put it into the cup, before returning to the table.

Quote:

I am proud of my little sister for sticking up for her twin brother.
That Ava was a character, and often got into trouble for doing silly things, but she was always there for her brother when the bullies got a bit too much for him.

Felixir 06-14-2015 10:12 AM

Toby squinted. This was... new.

As a general rule, he tended not to be too surprised at the many ways the Hogwarts classrooms would change over the terms, because... well... Hogwarts. But it was weird to walk into Professor Cassie's classroom and not see an abundance of pink or purple or whatever. It did, at least, still smell the same as usual, one sign that he was in the right place. Also the fact that the professor and her snap cup were in position at the front of class.

"Afternoon, Professor," Toby greeted her, stepping over and placing his pre-written proud moment into the snap cup. It had taken him a long long long time to think something up this morning, which had been painfully frustrating and upsetting. In the end he'd completely discounted any possible personal proud moments and instead went for his favourite topic: Curtis.

SPOILER!!: Proud thing
I'm proud of my baby brother just for existing (even though he's already almost a year old and growing up faster than I said he's allowed to)

With an automatic smile at the professor, Toby headed off to find himself somewhere to sit. He'd already reflexively reached out and poked one of the vials on the table before actually reading the message on the board, at which point he quickly retracted his hand, looking very obviously guilty. Ahem.

Hera 06-14-2015 11:11 AM

It was Divination time. As usual, Zeke entered the class, his mind on other things as he made his way to his seat to unpack his things.

...

Wait.

What was going on???

He observed the set up for a moment before shrugging and setting his stuff down, unpacking his class materials - all the while rubbing his nose which was becoming irritated by the lavender.

Weasley174 06-14-2015 11:43 AM

Angel was shocked and confused as she suddenly entered the room, wasn't this totally interesting the room looked like brand new but the Professor was back.

"Morning Professor!" Angel smiled, "How are you today?" Angel now had to figure something out, what was this lesson going to be about it was going to be so fun.

Quote:

I am proud to have been on the top student list for divination last term.
Angel put her proudest moment in the snap cup and then went and picked an empty table and sat down, she totally wondered what they would be doing today, she had a feeling they would be using some equipment.

Bazinga 06-14-2015 12:32 PM

Sitting in her chair she sipped at her tea excited and nervous about the day. She knew the lesson was going to be a little different then some might be comfortable with for certain reasons, but she hoped they would learn something new from it. Looking around and making sure she had everything the trap door open and her first student headed into the room.

SPOILER!!: Hello

Seeing Adi come into the room next the blonde smiled and gave him a nice one handed snap, "Hello Adi, how are you?" She chuckled happy that curiosity had struck so quickly. "Oh yes the vials we will get to those in a little bit." No way was she going to spoil what they were so early in the lesson. There were other things to get to first.

Henric walking in the room made the Professor really observe him, she could tell he was tired which made her feel that the nightmares he discussed were still occurring. She wanted him to get a chance to work them out, but she knew how important a child's sleep was so if this kept up she might have to have him see Cece for a sleeping potion or something to get him to get a good nights rest. "Hello Henric, I hope you are doing alright?" She knew it was well with the sleep thing, but everything else being alright was what she was hoping. Seeing his journal she gave a small smile, "Good, come to my office soon and we can look it over." She hoped she could help him out, she really did.

Seeing a Slytherin coming into the room made Cassie very happy. She was starting to think only Ravenclaw's and Hufflepuff's got her memo about class. She knew she had put it up late, but her thoughts and focus had been off lately. She really hoped everyone had seen it. "Hello Zheyna, how are you today?" Seeing her get a cup a tea got her some snaps, tea was a great way to start a lesson!

"Well hello Angel, I'm wonderful thank you for asking." It was lovely that she asked how Cassie was doing, "I hope you are well also?"

Looking at her watch she decided that it was certainly time to get started. Moving out from behind her table she beamed at her class, "Good afternoon everyone. Thank you for joining me in another lesson." They saw her weekly she knew, but it was an elective so they didn't have to be here. She wanted them to know she appreciated that they were. "You are all probably wondering what we are going to do today, but hold on for a bit longer it will all be explained soon." Suspense was fun and a great way to keep interest!

Though first she had to turn to the snap cup and get the positive flowing. [b] "Remember to please snap for each and every persons proud moment, because they are all great moments that deserve noticed! "I sang a high note that I was never able to hit before. Ooooh that is just wonderful! Snaps for high notes!!" She snapped excitedly for the person. "I am proud that I made someone happy today. OHMYGOSH!!! Making someone happy is the best feeling EVER!! Snaps for making people happy." She snapped for this person as well. I am proud of the fact that I kept up with all of my homework this week. Keeping up with homework how wonderful! Snaps for keeping up." What wonderful snaps these were she was so proud of her students. As she read each and every one of their snaps and made sure they all got a good snap she came to the last one, "I'm proud to be alive and well today. Being alive and well is always a blessing! Snaps for being alive!!" She gave her final snaps before turning with a huge grin.

"I have a friend here with me today and I hoped you could tell me a bit about him." She leaned down behind her table and pulled out a friendly little turtle. "Now I know you all know what this is so please no it's a turtle answer. Tell me about turtles in general. Everything and anything you might know about them and why you might think I have him in class today."

Benny made his way up to the Divination tower for class, as usual running a little late. Not late late after class had begun, but one of the later students to arrive. Going down one tower and up another wasn't the easiest. Even when one was in a happy mood. "Hello Professor," he greeted simply before taking a parchment to write something down. It took a few moments to gather up something, scribbling it down and folding it before placng it in the cup and finding a random empty seat.

Preferably where he didn't have to see the trio of Hufflepuffs seated together.

Yes he saw Adi and Henric together again.

SPOILER!!: Ben's proud moment
I've managed to survive without my best friend.

Kolyander 06-14-2015 01:20 PM

Hady had been running just a little later then usual today however she'd made it to class on time. With a small smile and wave to Professor Morgan as well as her fellow mates. Taking notice to the classrooms layout she raised a questioning eyebrow wondering just what it was they'd be doing.

However there was no time to think about this for the lesson began fairly shortly after she'd entered the room. Pulling out her parchment, quill and textbook she set up her area once she'd selected an empty seat to sit on. Listening silently as the professor spoke Hady eyed the turtle for a moment before raising her hand, "They have a hard shell on their backs which they can hide in." Yep. Short, sweet and simple. She'd leave the other longer things about turtles to the others in the room.

FearlessLeader19 06-14-2015 01:23 PM

Darn! It seemed Professor Cassie was not giving anything away about those vials. Oh, well. The Puffer had tried but he figured it would be soon that he found out. Now seated beside Kace, he began chattering quietly with his friend. Oh! It seemed Kace had forgotten to write his proud moment! Adi, always the curious one, took a peek at the parchment. Adi remembered Kace was going into the Magical Creatures field like he was. "Hello, Janelle!'' he called back to his friend just as Henric joined him and Kace. "Hey, Henny. There's a dragon under your chair.'' Hehe.

Adi's eyes only focused only briefly on Benny when he entered the room. Did the Hufflepuff miss having him around? Nope. And he was determined to make himself keep feeling that way. He did smirk slightly to himself though when he realise that the Gryffindor must notice Henric was with him again.

Anyway, no more time for smirks! Cassie and her snapping were starting. Hehe. There was one particular proud moment he really liked. The one with making someone happy. Adi couldn't agree with his Professor more. That was one of the best things ever. When all the snaps were over, he found himself looking at a turtle. It was so tiny! The boy raised his hand. "Turtles are super slow. We're probably going to use these liquids...'' He gestured at the red and yellow things in the vials. ''... to make him a little faster so that we can predict our futures by analysing his speed.'' What the heck, Adi? Did you even think before saying that?

Felixir 06-14-2015 01:28 PM

"I'm okay, Professor," Toby replied, his response coming automatically, as ever. "Hope you're doing good." Though she seemed pretty happy to him, and that was good. That made him happy, too.

...

Okay, so... yes. THAT was a turtle. Toby didn't actually know a whole lot about turtles, as he'd never met one before, but what he DID know was that he wanted to say hello to this one. He craned his neck, trying to get a good look and resisting the urge to get up and go pet it. It took some restraint, but he about managed it. Just.

But um... uuuuuummmm... answers. Did he have an answer? Apparently, because his hand was up in the air.

"Aren't turtles the ones that can swim?" As opposed to tortoises, he meant. Aaaand as for why he was along today... "Are we... gonna, like... um... read his... shell?" Maybe? Eh, he had no idea, but it was worth a shot.

MudInMyBlood 06-14-2015 01:37 PM

As she listened to all of the proud moments, she beamed at whoever wrote about doing all of their homework. AJ was usually not one to turn all of her assignments in, but she had done so this week... so an extra beamy face happened. It actually felt kind of nice being on this side of life. If the fourth year was actually able to keep it up though, now that was the question.

Her eyes kept sweeping over the vials. How much longer before they would find out all of the info? AJ was not a patient person by any means. As Adi said his answer, AJ couldn't help but to snort because she was actually thinking along the same lines. Only, she thought that the yellow and red liquids represented the lion and badger house because what other houses were there? Cassie probably had another turtle somewhere and she was going to have a race between the two to further prove that Gryffindors were the best. Because they would be the winners, obviously.

"Can I hold the turtle?" Turtle kisses, please. She did have something to add though. "They have a hard shell that they use like a shield... you know in case of falling rocks and stuff." Falling rocks was legit. She had seen the road signs.

RandomRaven 06-14-2015 02:57 PM

Jackson just sat there, didn't talk much even he was sitting next to Leah. Dunno why but... he just kept silent. And speaking of, why on earth he was sitting next to her? Well.... he couldn't move to the other seat now because the class already started.

Oh look, a turtle!

Wait, it's a divination lesson right? Or somehow it turned into care of magical... but turtle is not a magical creatures. Well... they're gonna use turtle for divination? How could? The Korean boy had never heard about that before. And what did he know about turtles? Jackson then raised his hand and spoke. "I dunno why but turtle is a very slooooooooooow animal. It walks very slowly, does it because of the shell?"

Symphora 06-14-2015 03:00 PM

Henric nodded and smiled at the professor,"I'm alright..never felt better,"he chuckled softly and continued to speak,"..thank you for asking...and yes I will come by after class." He was glad he had professor Cassie to confide in, who else knew more about dream interpretation better than she did.

-------------------------------------------
"Har..har...very funny Adi,"he rolled his eyes at Adi. Dragons certainly did not spend its time lying under one's chair, if it was...it must be an invisible one which only existed in Adi's colourful imagination.

Again...he glanced over at Benny who was completely avoiding Adi...and him, perhaps all of Hufflepuffs together? It felt kind of hurt really...but wasn't this bitter feud between him and Adi? Maybe Benny thought he was siding Adi in this and might have misunderstood it somehow.Yeah...that was it...he really should talk to Benny about it.

But class was starting now, the matter must have to wait.Oh my word! What a cute little turtle that was! Henric wanted to pet him for himself but the girl from gryffindor beat him to it. Wait, wasn't this Adi's girlfriend? Noo....he wanted to pet it first! He sighed mentally inside...oh well.. y'know..ladies first.

"Umm professor, can I hold him next please?"he asked politely."Professor I think they are very adaptable creatures but unfortunately they are one of the many endangered species. So, we must do something to protect them from extinction,"he answered. But oh wait...why did the professor bring a turtle in this science lab? Alarmed, Henric shoot his hand up in the air,"Professor, will the turtle be safe? We're not going to do any experiments on it,right?"he asked, concerned.

PhoenixRising 06-14-2015 03:13 PM

Divination class. Which hopefully wouldn't be another one on interpreting flatulence but fortunately, Professor Cassie seemed to find different things to divine each lesson. And she had a TURTLE with her today which made it just about worth it for the trek to the Divination tower. Turtles didn't do much, but they were definitely some of the more interesting creatures and no doubt something to do with with their lesson today because Professor Cassie wasn't one to bring something without reason.

It's a turtle. Well duh.

But actually there was an something about the turtle that she was pretty sure she'd read about in a history book once. "Professor?" Tia addressed after raising her hand and waiting her turn, "I once read about something East Asian culture in using the cracks on the shell of a turtle for divination purposes."

Sararara 06-14-2015 05:27 PM

Norah grinned and waved at Leah as she sat beside her, opening her mouth to say hello right as Professor Cassie began to speak to the class. Alrighty then. She closed her mouth again and snapped along to the proud moments because respect, remember? Apparently it was important if you wanted to be nice, which she did. Manners was LAME.

Her hazel eyes widened as Professor Cassie revealed a TURTLE. Oh man, OH MAN. She shot her hand in the air, keeping a close eye on the turtle because look how CUTE. Could she play with it? Could she hold it? Could they be best friends? Could she name it, at least? Thomas the turtle. She liked it already. "Turtles are slow, so I think they can't actually beat hares in races like that muggle story says." Wait. Was that a turtle or a tortoise? Both were cute and super cool, she knew that. "or maybe that was a tortoise. I forget. Okay nevermind can I say another fact? The ocean kind of turtles lay a million bazillion eggs on the beach and then they all hatch and the ickle baby turtles all go to the ocean and it's super cool" As much as she'd begged, she'd never actually seen them at it but she HAD seen pictures which totally counted. She hadn't mentioned that they have to lay a million bazillion eggs because not all of them would survive and stuff, 'cause what if Thomas the Turtle HEARD her? Then he'd get sad. Turtles were much to cool for sadness.

Stefan 06-14-2015 05:38 PM

A turtle?

Ethan sat back in his chair as he tried to find the correlation between Divination and the turtle that Professor Cassie was holding. Was there something so special about turtles that they can predict the future? Does it have anything to do with moving in slow motion? Or is it...something about their shell? Its shell pattern perhaps?

Hmm. It was worth a shot.

Ethan raised his hand and waited for his turn. “Turtles have fancy patterns on their shells, and there are actually marking on them which indicates their growth...like, the rings you’d see on tree trunks when you cut it.” The Slytherin placed his hand down and got his parchment and quill ready. Seriously, that turtle that the professor was holding looked like it was judging the class.

They are not going to dissect it into bits, right?

Daydreamer11 06-14-2015 07:36 PM

Janelle smiled at Professor Cassie. "I'm doing great", she replied. It was true. She was feeling especially good today and was ready to get to work. Before she knew it, class was beginning and out came the turtle. Cool. Janelle loved animals so seeing one in Divination class was a plus. She couldn't imagine what it had to do with Divination. Surely they would be finding out very shortly.

As the first question was asked, Janelle raised her hand. What did she know about turtles? "I know that turtles come in different sizes, from tiny to very large." She had seen some very big turtles at a muggle aquarium once. "I'm not quite sure how we can use them for Divination though." Janelle continued to listen to the discussion and found that her classmates had some very interesting ideas.

DuckyLinJi 06-14-2015 09:19 PM

There Was A TURTLE!

His fear of coming to this lesson again after the Professor had made them go to a cemetery vanished instantly at the sight of the animal. He did not know how but he thought turtles were the cutest animals. But as he had wanted to buy one at the menagerie in diagon alley he was held back by his parents because it was too expensive to buy one. He had now come to Hogwarts with no pet because he WANTED A TURTLE! And nothing else…

The Gryffindor raised his hand in the air although he did not knowing how much information he could give. Well, she did say everything and anything right? “Turtles are adorable just like me” he beamed brightly. “And you probably have it because turtle shells can be used as a form of divination….that I can’t remember..you know how much I have to read for my owls?!” he pointed to his divination textbook and laughed out loud.

Chill Yoongi….

Weasley174 06-14-2015 10:13 PM

Angel was totally happy with this lesson, she could already feel that this lesson would be amazing and she hoped she could pet the turtle before the end of the lesson but for now she had to try and think of a fact about them which was going to be hard since she didn't know may turtles, there wasn't one in the Wind and the Willow right?

Angel raised her hand and decided to make a guess at something. "They can live for years, they can even out live muggles right?" Angel knew that some wizards and witches had live for ages, but she had never heard of a muggle living for 600 years. She wondered how hard it must have been living through that many years seeing what they did.

Jessiqua 06-14-2015 11:05 PM

"I'm good thank you Professor Cassie, how are you?" Zhenya was excited for another Divination lesson, and was always happy to be in the classroom, learning about the subject.

Zhenya snapped at all the proud moments Professor Cassie read out, and then they got down to business. Turtle business. She almost let out a laugh when Professor Cassie said no 'it's a turtle' answers, because she could have gone with that answer. She didn't know too much about turtles, but there was just one very interesting thing she knew about them, so that would be the fact she shared. She raised her hand, "Some turtles can live for 130 or so years," she said. She knew the big ones lived a long time but she wasn't sure about the small ones.

hermionesclone 06-14-2015 11:06 PM

Some people had the weirdest freaking things that they were proud of. Grayson was doing something he was very good at and silently judging some of the snaps in the snap cup. Proud of keeping on top of all the homework? That sounded like a freaking miracle right there. Jeez, the workload this year was ridiculous, man.

Before he could grumble and start internally complaining about how he was too pretty for this unfair life, Professor Cassie started talking again so the seventh year turned his attention to her and.......... her turtle. Yep. The woman was holding a turtle up there.

What did he know about turtles? Hardly anything else from what the others had said. So, he was gonna go ahead and guess something else. Hand raised, Grayson stared dead at the turtle for a moment or two before saying, "Alright, sooooo see the way we used cats and their behaviour to predict the future and whatnot? Are we gonna do the same with turtles and their behaviour? Or their shells, actually, since they move too slowly and we'd be here all day if we were trying to monitor their behaviour and all."

What? It was a guess.

WhittyBitty 06-14-2015 11:24 PM

Did she have any adventures lately? Would facing heights in class count? Because if so, Lux had more than enough to last her a lifetime. Nodding her head, she was about to elaborate when class began.

Snaps were given to each proud moment. Snap. Snap. Snap. Yay everyone and their amazing accomplishments. AND THERE WAS A TURTLE. It was so cute. Could Lux pet it?? Raising her hand she said, "turtles are very slow and they can live for a very long time. Like over a hundred years." As to what they would be doing this lesson, Lux wasn't as sure. "Will we be studying the patterns on their shells?"

ArianaBlack 06-14-2015 11:53 PM

See the one thing about divination that always got him, was the fact that one day they could come in and talk about gas noises, and the next they could talk about the cloud patterns or something and it'd all be the same. WHERE was the CONSISTENCY? The right answers?? They organization? It really didn't make any sense to the Gryffindor, but then again... Arithmancy only made sense occasionally and that actually had a science to it.

But Zander was going to give his best attempt seeing as his OWL score proved to mean he had some potential for the inner eye, or whatever it was that Professor Morgan was always on about.

The question about turtles sort of got him though. Were they going to see the future with turtles? Strange. Though they did it with cats so at this point... It wasn't even that weird. That's saying something. Man. But Zander did like creatures, so he was willing to give this a go. Only he didn't really feel like offering up facts because he was currently doodling on his parchment, but that's besides the point. Also, at least it looked like he was taking notes. HEh.

Looking around and making sure she had everything the trap door open and her first student headed into the room.

SPOILER!!: Hello

"Good afternoon Kace, how are you?" It was very nice to of him to say kind things about her as well as the lesson. "I'm so glad you enjoyed it, I hope you enjoy this one as well." It didn't flow together like she usually liked, but there was a little trend she had this term.

Everything and anything you might know about them and why you might think I have him in class today."

ooc: I'll post again around or a bit after 10 p.m. Est

Kace beamed at Professor Cassie's energy. She always seemed so happy and bubbly that he loved it. "I am doing well Professor." he replied back. He hoped he enjoyed this lesson as well. I mean he knew he would because Professor Cassie was awesome. Anyways back onto the lesson, he noticed the Professor brought out a turtle. He tilted his head and he wondered what turtles had to do with Divination. He literally had NO idea. What did he know about turtles in general? Hmm maybe he could put some input on that question. "Professor I know turtles can live very long. They can live longer than dogs and other animals." I mean he heard that rumor but he didn't know if that was really true. Let's see what the Professor had to say.

Bazinga 06-15-2015 03:15 AM

Still holding Bob the box turtle, Cassie walked around the room so everyone could get a better look. She loved having him visit and was so glad her brother didn’t mind. Auntie Cassie was always good with her animal family members. She was positive he trusted her more with the animals then his child. Looking for some hands she found the first one and called on Hady.

SPOILER!!: Answers

That is a way for them to get all their air out of their stomach to fit their head and legs into their shells.” Just a little known fact that many didn’t know.

“That actually depends on where they are at. Some turtles are slow on land, but a painted turtle can be quicker when trying to get away. All turtles are faster swimmers though. So in water they do have a fairer advantage when it comes to speed.” She glanced at the liquids and gave him a small smile, “That’s a great guess, but we won’t be using the liquids for that.” She’d be giving snaps if she wasn’t holding a turtle in her hands.

Pieces start flaking off like your skin if you are sunburn and as that happens the shell grows bigger for the turtle. It’s very fascinating.”

Looking to Yoogi, she nodded to his answer. Another spot on, well done! “Very good their shells are what we will be using for Divination today. Wonderful answer!” His remark about OWLs made her laugh out loud, “Oh goodness I know, but you will get through it! You’ll do wonderfully!” She had faith in all her students.

Angel raised her hand and decided to make a guess at something. "They can live for years, they can even out live muggles right?" Angel knew that some wizards and witches had live for ages, but she had never heard of a muggle living for 600 years. She wondered how hard it must have been living through that many years seeing what they did.

“They can live for years, very good. This is a key reason people like to look to turtles with Divination. Their shells hold many secrets and wisdom of the world.”

“Very good Zhenya, they can live for a very long time. That length and wisdom as brought high respect for their species with many groups of people. They look to them as wisdom and see that they have adapted through the years and have survived when others have not.” Wonderful creatures turtles were.

[qyote=hermionesclone] Some people had the weirdest freaking things that they were proud of.

What? It was a guess.[/quote]

She listened to Grayson and nodded at his answers. “You are correct in some ways, we won’t be using their behaviors and they are a bit slow to really watch and get a good reading. Though watching them can be very fun.” She’d show them that in a moment, “We will be using their shells for readings today. Great job!”

Raising her hand she said, "turtles are very slow and they can live for a very long time. Like over a hundred years." As to what they would be doing this lesson, Lux wasn't as sure. "Will we be studying the patterns on their shells?"

“Very good! They are slow and do live a long time. We will be using their shells, but not quite for the patterns that you are probably thinking about.” Nope there will be a different type of pattern.

He tilted his head and he wondered what turtles had to do with Divination. He literally had NO idea. What did he know about turtles in general? Hmm maybe he could put some input on that question."Professor I know turtles can live very long. They can live longer than dogs and other animals." I mean he heard that rumor but he didn't know if that was really true. Let's see what the Professor had to say.

Moving back up to the front of the room, Cassie turned still holding Bob. “You all had wonderful answers and deserve so many snaps. If I wasn’t holding Bob you would be getting them.” Bob had to be taken care of though so no snaps for now. As many of you said turtles come in many forms. They have different species, different sizes, and different traits. If I would be holding a snapping turtle right now I probably would have lost a finger, a painted turtle would be trying to get free and hissing more, but like I said earlier that could only mean he is pushing the air out of himself to fit into the shell. If I was with a sea turtle they would be bigger in size. So many fascinating qualities in turtles.” She turned and set Bob on the floor.

“Now I said earlier that people have taken turtles and made them pets. They actually are pretty good pets. They are very low work, just making sure their heat lamp is on during the day, their water is clean, feeding them the right amount, and having a good amount of dry land for them to walk on and water to swim. What many people aren’t aware of is that you can teach a turtle to do things like come to its name and play. I’m really hoping Bob is comfortable enough to show you what I mean.” She pulled out an exercise ball and put it on the floor near him. “Now he isn’t mutant or anything, but he does love chasing his ball.” She stood and watched a moment before laughing and snapping for Bob. Just wonderful!!

“Now a few of you said about looking at the shell for Divination. We are going to do that and as it was mentioned this form of Divination is one of the oldest forms recorded. It uses the turtle’s shell to read about what’s to come. Can anyone tell me what that form is called and how would we go about reading a shell.”

OOC: I will post again at on or a bit after 10:30 a.m. EST tomorrow. I found another adorable turtle video if anyone would like to watch it.. Had to share!

Jessiqua 06-15-2015 03:29 AM

Zhenya just had to let out a giggle watching Bob chasing his ball. He was cute and it was funny watching something so small chasing around something so big.

Zhenya hadn't really thought of how she could use the shell of the turtle to perform divination, but apparently it was a method. But she had heard something, using some bone or something or rather to read but she had no idea what specifically it read. Raising her hand she said "Professor there's something to do with Scapul... scapula-imancy or something like that. People read the bones of dead animals, but obviously a turtle can be alive with its shell and all its designs on the shell intact." Thank Merlin it was a turtle and not an innocent animal they would have to do unthinkable things to.

Symphora 06-15-2015 03:52 AM

Aww...no petting the turtle today but it was all good. He definitely not wanting to lose a finger in fear it would bite him if it did. Henric was content just admiring professor Cassie's turtle from afar. He listened to the professor and indeed nodded agreeably to everything that had been said about turtles. He craned his neck so he could see what Bob would do with the ball. He couldn't believe it, Bob could do tricks too?! Brilliant! Maybe he should adopt a turtle too and teach it how to play muggle football with him.How cool would that be?!

They could read turtle shells to predict the future? That was a little strange but incredibly interesting to hear. Henric did not answer this one because he had no idea what form of reading this was. Turtle-shell reading?

Expecto-Penguin 06-15-2015 04:34 AM

Kace had no idea that they could teach a turtle how to play with a ball. I mean turtles were animals too they could do whatever they wanted. He would try to get his cousins turtle to do this eventually. He chuckled at the idea and now onto the question at hand. He had NOOO idea what the form was called. I guess maybe it had the word shell in it? He shrugged and listened to the Slytherins answers. Oh right it was Zhenya, she seemed to be knowing what she was talking about. "Professor I am gonna agree with Zhenya here and go with scapulaimancy. It sounds pretty legit to me." He was just backing up the girls answer to make her feel more confident is all.

FearlessLeader19 06-15-2015 04:41 AM

Oh, right! Adi had really forgotten about turtles being swimmers too! He nodded happily at Professor Cassie, totally missing his snaps. But then again she was holding the turtle... which couldn't be petted or patted or snugged or anything. Maybe it was a good thing. The poor thing would probably get tired of everyone.

The Hufflepuff's eyes followed Bob and his ball as he listened to Cassie. Mutant? Like the Ninja turtles? Hehe. Wouldn't it be SO darn awesome if Bob was one of those? Then it could teach the class ninja moves! HIIIIIIYA!

With his eyes still fixed on Bob, Adi raised his hand. "I'm not sure of what the method is called but is it possible the correct method reading is done by the seeker asking a question then fixating on one of the designs or pattern on the turtle's shell to do a reading to get answers to his or her question?'' And could they just watch Bob and his ball for this lesson? The turtle was so fascinating and amusing!

Eden smiled a little. "I'm good, Professor," she said simply. Heh. Today was going to be a good. This would be a good class, she just KNEW it. She had the VIBES for it....and when Professor Morgan read her snap cup entry, Eden beamed.

BEAMED.

THAT WAS HERS! SHE WAS ALL CAUGHT UP ON HOMEWORK. HEHEHE. It made her happy and she snapped for herself because Eden McGee deserved snaps for herself sometimes, gosh darn it!

TURTLE!!!! Omg. Eden almost died right on the spot. SHE KNEW A THING OR TWO ABOUT TURTLES! REPTILES, YEAH! She was going to raise her hand and say ALL KINDS OF THINGS ABOUT TURTLES--like how turtles didn't deal with the cold well, and that Europe only had TWO kinds of turtles, really--and that--

Oh she could have gone on. She could have. She loved turtles. Snakes, more, but turtles were cool, too. But she was so focused on which facts she should say...when...

They moved on.

It was such a pity, Eden frowned SLIGHTLY but then....just relaxed. Because they were talking about Divination turtle things. Eden didn't think this was the answer Morgan was looking for, but she raised her hand and cleared her throat. "Well..I know some people used to use them in oracle bone readings..."

Ethan gave Bob the turtle a finger wiggle as soon as the pet and Professor Cassie passed by. Merlin, such judgemental turtle he was. Did anyone take not of its face? And speaking of face reading…he came across this kind of Divination when he was researching about Physiognomy! Professor Cassie dropped a clue, saying that the form of divination that they will be learning today was one of the oldest recorded form of divination. That being said, the Chinese were the first to practice it, same with Physiognomy!

But what was it called??? Zhenya had mentioned Scapulamancy… “No…no it’s not Scapulamancy…that one uses an ox’s scapular bone…” he muttered to himself as he fished out his notes, and flipped through his research on Physiognomy. He knew he wrote it somewhere…

China…Turtles…aha!

Ethan raised his hand with his notes covering his face. “Uh…it’s Plastermancy…? No…not plaster. Merlin, I can’t even read my own handwriting. Er…Plas…Plastromancy. Yes. Plastromancy because…the Chinese people used a turtle’s plastron…or its underside for it?” Whoops. Nerd alert! But whoa wait. They are not going to do the reading on Bob right? Because…well…ugh. Never mind.

Ethan placed his hand down, feeling his face go warm. He’s not used to giving such precise answers. Well, he can’t be blamed though. He’s on a mission to master a certain form of reading, so it was just natural to come across another form of Divination, especially if it came from the same provenance. Turtle-underside reading happens to be one of them.

Look at it.

It was...taking on the ball. Was it some sort of natural instinct or did the turtle really realize it was locked into a game. A game he could not possibly hope to win. For the ball would never tire. Nature knew what it was doing when it brought balls and turtles together for only a turtle was a match for a ball, able to age at about the same rate. Locked in a battle of time.

Maybe that was just it. Turtles being a symbol for time and thus being thought of as being privy to the past as well as the present in some society somewhere when people were first recorded using the animals for divinatory purposes. Cutty put his hand up to offer an answer he knew couldn't possibly be right. "TURTURMANCY!!!" He laughed a bit at the way that sounded. Then considered naming his first born son Turturmancy if for no other reason the joy of calling him in for dinner, cause of course he'd be out in the streets running amok and learning things. "I think you'd probably read a shell by looking looking at the patterns on the bach. All the little..." his finger created many mini air circles. "Swehrls and dark bits."

Daydreamer11 06-15-2015 12:07 PM

Janelle started writing as soon as the first student began to speak. She wanted to write down all the information she could about turtles. Never knew when that info might come in handy. The writing continued as Professor Cassie talked about turtles as pets. Janelle had a friend once who had a pet turtle and he was kinda fun to watch.

Not as much fun as Bob the turtle though. This animal did tricks. Janelle had to hold back a laugh when Bob began to chase the ball. Now that was something you didn't see every day. Then a question. Janelle wasn't sure of the answer, but she decided to give it a shot. She raised her hand tentatively and started to speak.

"I think you might read a turtle's shell by looking at the patterns in it. Maybe where the lines are means something specific." As for the particular form of Divination, Janelle had no idea.

ArianaBlack 06-15-2015 12:57 PM

So they WERE going to read a turtle to tell the future. Huh. Divination just got stranger and stranger by the minute. It really was a wonder why he stayed in this class after OWL level. Merlin. But how the heck was he supposed to know what turtle reading was called? The Gryffindor listened to answers some of the others gave and furrowed his brows together in deep though because what the absolute HUH was an oracle bone? No, no those answers made absolutely no sense.

For the first time in history, Cutty Mordaunt's answer made the most sense out of anyone's. Something must be going wrong with the world.

After a few more seconds of thinking and doodling on his parchment, the Gryffindor slowly raised his hand. "Is it called, uh, Turtle-Shell-Oh-mancy?" It was like a rule. All the forms of divination ended with --Omancy, so really his guess was just as good as anyone else's.

Holmesian Feline 06-15-2015 01:07 PM

Alright so Benny was listening to Professor Cassie and his classmates around him as the next question and discussion was raised. It seemed as if most if not all he did lately was just listen and take notes. Not because he didn't know the answer, even if he didn't in this case, but because he lost his voice along with his best friend. The Gryffindor 6th year had slipped back into the shady quiet existance he had before Adi had pulled him, rather unceremoniously, out of his shell.

Oh....that would be a way to use a turtle.

The idea came to mind, but one or two students already appeared to have mentioned it. So he'd just wait for them to move on. The sooner things flowed...the better.

MudInMyBlood 06-15-2015 01:21 PM

Awww man. AJ was completely bummed out about not being able to hold Bob. She was pretty sure the turtle would love her. AJ had that way with animals. Maybe professor Morgan was a greedy turtle owner. Actually, she could understand that because she wouldn't be letting just anybody touch her unicorns... you know, when she got them. A ball!!! Was he going to keep his balance on it? She was even more intrigued than she was earlier.

Zander got a snort. Yes, he did. "I agree with Zander." His made the most sense in her mind. It sounded like something Divination would use as a name. The lion prefect had her vote. "I think maybe we could do the readings based off of how soft or rigid the markings on his shell is?" Maybe as an add on to them using the markings as readings.

nanyjj 06-15-2015 02:03 PM

Leah smiled at Jackson as he joined her at her lab table. He was really quiet though, which made her wonder if there was anything wrong. The lesson was beginning though, which only gave her enough time to return Norah's wave before she turned her attention to Professor Cassie.

She laughed out loud, watching Bob the box turtle chase his exercise ball. He must be the CUTEST thing that ever set foot on this Tower. Anyway, back to the discussion.

There was this question again, guessing the name of the Divination form. As Leah had no idea what it was called, she listened to her friends' replies. "I think I agree with Cutty's answer," she said DEAD SERIOUSLY. Well, it made the most sense, riiight? Zander's seemed right too but Turturmancy sounded better. As for HOW to read a shell, she honestly remembered reading it in her textbook. It was just that she did not understand a word of what it was talking about.

The Fifth Year opened her journal and took notes on what her classmates were contributing, except the bits that just sounded wrong.

Felixir 06-15-2015 02:32 PM

Toby wanted to hug the turtle. He really really did. Did they like hugs, orrrr...? They didn't seem cuddly but then even the non-cuddly things in life would probably appreciate hugs, just nobody ever wanted to provide them. That was kinda sad. But then what if they DIDN'T want hugs, and they were just non-hugging things, so that was why they LOOKED like they weren't very huggable. Huh.

It was a good minute or two before Toby realised his thoughts had gone very very much off track, what with thinking about turtles and hugs and all of the things, and by the time he'd tuned back in everyone else was providing answers to the questions he'd missed. But he could sort of guess what the questions had been by the sort of responses coming from everyone else.

"Turtolomancy, maybe," he provided, hand raised, because people were providing what sounded like probable titles for turtle divining. And it ALSO sounded like she'd asked about... the methods? "And I dunno how to do it. But I bet it has something to do with whatever these are." Toby lowered his hand again and used it to pokepokepoke at the vials in the middle of the desk, looking at the professor expectantly for either denial or confirmation.

RandomRaven 06-15-2015 03:12 PM

Jackson was quite distracted watching the turtle chasing the ball. Hehehe. He always found creatures were adorable. But then Professor Cassie asked another question.

Using the shell of turtle as the form of divination?

He'd never heard about that before, though himself came from one of the countries in East Asia but... Hey! He's from Seoul, South Korea and there are some countries there like... China! Okay, maybe it originally came from China. And he didn't have any idea about what it was called. "I dunno what it was called but I think we uh... read the pattern of the shell?" The Korean boy answered doubtfully.

Bazinga 06-15-2015 04:44 PM

Wasn’t it just precious? She watched Bob chase his ball and couldn’t help but giggle and snap. “Turtles are just fun creatures aren’t they?” Seriously though she could watch this turtle chase his ball all day, but they had a lesson to continue with.

SPOILER!!: answers

Could Cutty Mordaunt just created a new form of Divination? Cassie looked at Bob the box turtle for a moment thinking about his words and about how the turtle could be used in other ways. Her mind moving around in all the forms she had been trained on. Would it be possible? That was such a cool name for one either way. He got snaps for creativity, [b] “As much as I love the name you have just given that is not a form of Divination or one we will use today. We look at their shells but in just a bit different way.

Giving Janelle snaps for her thoughts Cassie grinned, “So many of you think it is the patterns of their shells, which is a great answer. They have so many different patterns that it could very well be a way of predicting something, but the way we are going to do it today is something a little different.’

"Is it called, uh, Turtle-Shell-Oh-mancy?"It was like a rule. All the forms of divination ended with --Omancy, so really his guess was just as good as anyone else's.

Had she thought about how awesome creative answers were? Well she thought that Zander’s was just as great as Cutty’s and he got snaps. “I think you and Cutty could really put your heads together and come up with some great inventions with your creative thoughts. As fun as that name is that is not what we will be using today.”

Looking to Aj, Cassie gave her snaps for her answer, “You would think that would be something to go off of, but for today it won’t be what we read. Great thoughts though.” She was very proud of her students thought process.

“If I didn’t know exactly what we were doing today I’d say I’d agree with Cutty as well. It was a very thought out answer, but unfortunately it isn’t what we are using today.” She did though give Leah snaps for answering.

They are wonderful, but that is not the form we will be doing today. Very good try though." She couldn't help but grin at his eager hints to use the vials, "We will be using those in just a moment and yes they are part of the lesson today." That was all she was giving for now though.

"We will be looking at the shell today, but not the patterns. Those are all very great answers though. Keep up the great thinking." She gave Jackson snaps for his awesome try!

Scooping up Bob and placing him in a box on the table Cassie turned back to the class. “You all have had some wonderful answers, but Ethan hit it spot on. Today we are going to be practicing Plastromancy. It is one of the oldest forms of Divination and originated in China. Like Eden had mentioned first it uses the Oracle Bone.” Picking up an empty turtle shell she pointed towards the bottom. “The shell has two parts to it. The oracle is the lower part.” Having the shell already cut apart she separated it and set down the top part showing them only the Oracle bone. “Now none of the shells you will be using were taken from any living turtles. No turtle was harmed in gathering these shells. I have a friend with a turtle pond and she gathers the shells as she finds them.” With her gift Cassie would never dream of harming an animal, even if it was for Divination.

“Now this form of Divination was done to predict different things, the weather, crop planting, and the future of the Royal Family. The Diviner would carve a small name in the shell of which they wanted to do the prediction for. Then because it is ancient times there would be a ritual that was formed. This is where some called it a bit darker, such as our gastromancy was. The vials in front of you will be used for the ritual part. One is dragon’s blood the other is oil. Some Diviners felt dragon’s blood brought out the cracks more where others felt the oils did. I will let you choose which you want to use.” She looked around the room to see if they were keeping up. Waving her wand she sent Oracle Bones to each student. “Now you will each have your own shell. First you will take your wand and carve in a small area your name, because you will want to do the prediction for yourself. Then you will pour a bit of the blood or the oil on your shell. Not both just one.” She demonstrated these two steps using the blood on her own. “For the next step at each table you will two small pokers. Heat the end with your wand and then push it into the shell. The heat will make the shell crack. Those cracks will be how we do our reading. Once you are finished with the poker please set it in the small bucket of water on the floor near your table.”

Taking the poker, Cassie heated it and pushed it gently into the shell. Seeing it cracking she set down the poker and held up her shell. “You will see something like this when you are finished. You have ten minutes to do these steps. Do you have any questions?”

OOC: Just as Cassie said go ahead and have your charrie work with the shell in front of them. Pick either a blood or Oil Vial and have them pour it over the shell, then RP getting a poker and pressing heat on the shell which will make it crack. The cracks can be how you want them. It wouldn't crack it all the way through or a chunk off, this is just cracking on the first layer. So more of straight across, up and down, some zig zag type cracks. You will have until 11:00 a.m. EST to finish this part of the lesson :) It should take you at least two post to do.

So they were going to be reading the turtle's shell but not in the way she had thought. Interesting. Lux was stumped as to what that meant. Trying to recall all the divination methods she had studied it was hard to remember one involving turtles. Last lesson had been easier because how could she forget a method based on reading noises like farts and burps. It had been so strange to her as well as fascinating in a way.

Not really knowing the answer to the next question, Lux decided to remain silent and listen to her smart classmates. OMG, Bob was playing with an exercise ball. That was so cute.

Ooooh. She was RIGHT. Eden hadn't expected them to be doing the oracle bone thing because it required just a shell and stuff--which meant dead turtle, pretty much. She stiffened when Morgan showed them the shell...but then said she hadn't harmed any turtles.

Good.

Eden would have been FURIOUS with one of her favorite professors, yeah? Because TURTLES.

She immediately began to think about which liquid to use...the oil or the blood? She was somewhat intrigued by the blood...and so...she'd probably use that, yes. Dragon blood. How cool. She wouldn't ask how Professor Morgan how she got this, because it was probably donated or something, and there was NO point in wasting her breath.

After she collected her shell and a vial of blood, she sat back in her seat and began the carving process. Her name. Right in the shell. THE SOUND and the NOISE ugh. Eden didn't like it. It made her WINCE..but she did it. Did she need her first and last name? Hmm. She would do her first and last name JUST in case.

Oracle bone?

Lux had never heard of that before, but it sounded interesting. Look at Eden getting it right. Her friend was so smart. Opening her notebook to a new page, Lux made sure to record all the useful information. Some of it was coming back to her now that it was mentioned, but it was really hard to retain everything that she had read in preparation for the OWLs.

Thank Merlin no turtles had been harmed for the lesson - not that she could ever see Professor Cassie doing that. Just was nice to have her thoughts confirmed.

Taking a shell and a vial of dragon's blood (because DRAGONZZZ), Lux set about carving her name. Probably best to do her last name as well just to cover all bases. This part wasn't so nice because it felt weird carving into a part of an animal even if it wasn't around anymore. This had been a turtle's HOME.

There were his snaps! Adi grinned though a bit sheepishly. "That's what I meant, Professor. I don't know why I keep saying seeker.'' His eyes fixated back to Bob. Could he have a Bob the turtle, too? One that loved ball just as much as this one?
...................

Awh! Did Cassie have to put Bob back in the box? Maybe it was a good thing because Adi (and some of his other classmates, he was sure) must be distracted by the adorableness of the turtle. Anywayyy... Plastromancy! It had nothing to do with the words 'Turtleomancy' or anything like some had said. But who could blame them? He would have thought along those same lines too. Adi watched with interest as Cassie showed them the Oracle bone from the cut shell. Well, he KNEW that the woman wouldn't harm any turtle but still, it felt good to have confirmation about that.

Ohh, dragon blood and oils! Cool! Adi knew which he was using. Blood... because blood was cool, yo. And even cooler still was the Oracle Bone which suddenly plopped down in front of him. Momentarily leaving the Bone alone, he watched as his Professor did a demonstration. Right! It seemed easy enough.

First step? Adi retrieved his wand to finely carve his name into a spot on the shell: Aditya Rehman. Proper names were best to be used for such important things, yes? The carving was easily done which was a surprise because for some reason he had expected it to be difficult. Heh. He then reached for a vial, uncapped it and poured dragon blood over it just as Cassie had done.

So far, so good!

Aha. See? It was always good to make an attempt. Professor Cassie seemed pretty pleased with his answer, even though it was wrong. She was like Professor Glendower in that way. Anyway, he wasn't TOTALLY wrong, only about the name thing, because they were going to use those mysterious vials.

...

...

... So... that was... blood? Um. Oh. It shouldn't have been such a bad thing, because they worked with animal blood and stuff in Potions all the time, and MAYBE he should have expected it. But, uh... yeah. He hadn't. Toby eyed the vials for just a moment, but there was work to be done, something he was reminded of when an oracle thingy turned up at his desk. At least these were gathered humanely. That was good.

Right then, first off... name carving Toby could do that. He grabbed his wand and pointed it at the oracle section of shell he had. "Intaglio..." Usually the spell was done with runes, but Toby thought it could also work quite well here. It was still carving, after all, he just didn't need to keep chanting. "Intaglio." ... "Intaglio."

Eventually, he'd done it, carved 'Toby' on the shell. Except, uh... huh. The seventh year raised his hand. "Professor, do we have to carve our full name onto it? I'm not sure mine will fit, but what if I end up doing a reading for another Toby?" Not that he'd mind, really, but he'd never know if he was right about it. And... come to think of it. "... And was I supposed to write 'Tobias'? Or is 'Toby' okay?"

Everybody got snaps in Cassie's class... even if you were wrong. Which AJ was by the way. And what do you mean that Zander hadn't been correct? AJ would have bet money that he was. Well then. This was why they weren't Ravenclaws, huh? Speaking of Ravenclaws, Eden was spot on with her oracle bone mess. And that was what exactly? How did they know this stuff? AJ knew hip bones, and things like that, but oracle bones? Pffft. Get out of here with that mess.

"We get to drink dragon blood?" Her eyes lit up for a second before she realized that wouldn't be happening. Of course it wouldn't be. "Oh, right..." It was for the shell. Made sense, but AJ kind of wanted to drink it. No reason why she did other than she was a bit out there. She bet it tasted magical.

Obviously she was going to pick the vial that had dragon blood in it. Now she needed to get this turtle shell cracking. First, she needed her name carved into it. Picking up her wand, she got down to business. Before her very eyes was Aubrey written pretty sloppily on the turtle shell. It was still get the job done though.

Norah, who had been much too busy trying to keep herself from squealing at the CUTIE PATOOTIE turtle with the ball, didn't manage to get an answer to the second question. Oh well. There was cute stuff going on, you couldn't blame her.

Her eyes widened at the sight of the empty shell 'cause that was a real live turtle home they were talking about. She put her hand in the air to inform Professor Cassie that there was no way she was going to steal a turtle's home just to tell the future, but brought it down again quickly because apparently that wasn't even the case. Man. Professors really did think of everything. She listened to the rest of the instructions with her eyes still fixed on Bob the Turtle, then picked up her wand and brought the empty shell closer to her. Okay. Name carving time. Radical. She used her wand to carve 'N O R A H' into the shell, eyeing it closely because her handwriting didn't really look to nice on a shell. Not that her handwriting normally looked nice at all. So that was saying something. She lifted her wand again to carve K I T T R E D G E except she ran out of room and the end bits got way smaller. SHE knew what it said, so it'd be okay, right? Maybe? Hopefully? With a small shrug the fourth year set her wand down and turned to the vials. Real live DRAGON blood? Wasn't that super fancy shmancy?

It did make Zander pretty darn proud when AJ agreed with him. Validation always felt good. Especially when his answer had been a complete guess. It made him feel a lot more confident in the fact that he was-- Wrong? What. But his answer made so much more sense that plasticomancy?? Or uh, whatever the right answer ended up being. Hmph. Sounded like the divination of plastic bottles not turtle shells. Man. This was almost as bad as the scrying, crying fiasco.

The Gryffindor just shrugged as Professor Morgan went on to explain the process they were going to use. And he was almost very angry about the fact that they were going to be hurting poor creatures, except for the fact that apparently no turtles were harmed in the making of this plasticomancy stuff.

Alright. He was still skeptical though.

Zander opted to grab a vial of the oil instead of blood, deciding it seemed like a safer bet. Then back to the shell he went and uh, how was he supposed to carve his name exactly? You know, Toby seemed to know what he was doing... So Zander followed the Hufflepuffs lead, using the same method to carve 'Zander Adair' into his turtle shell.

Watching the turtle play was pretty funny. She'd never gotten to observe a turtle playing before so this was a nice first for her. A short lived first but a first just the same. She had to pay attention though and quickly some note taking was done before she began to get to work on the task at hand here for this lesson.

Picking up the turtle shell which was thankfully not gotten from a turtle that lived in it at the time. That would just be seriously wrong on so many levels. Taking a moment to examine it she pulled her wand out from it's holder. Her name was needed for this. Would it matter if she used the name she went by or her given name? Hady thought this through a second before deciding it probably would 'work' best if she used her full name.

Using her wand she carefully worked at carving her name into the shell. 'Hadleigh Lynch'. Setting her wand down all she needed to do now was decided if she wanted to use the dragon blood or oil. Really is was a no brainer there.

Plastromancy....got it.

Ben absently copied the word into his notes as a title as he listened to what Professor Morgan had to say about the subject matter. They would be using found shells and only the bottom piece as it was. The oracle bone as it was called. And the vials in front of them all was suddenly indentified, the mention of dragon's blood getting his attention. He listened as attentive as he could, copying down the process they would be using for reference. He didn't trust himself to remember.

Not after he forgot about animating his drawings in History of Magic.

History of Magic....

The Gryffindor momentarily got distracted by the memory and the horrible ending to it. The floating oracle bone sent his way had briefly nudged into him before snapping him out of his daze and brought back to the class at hand. Cue sigh before he made sure the bone rested neatly on the table in front of him. A glance at his notes reminded him of where to start and he slipped his wand from its home and went to work carving his name onto his bone.

His fortune...maybe it tell him what would happen with him and Adi?

Well that was a relief. No turtles were harmed in the gathering of these shells. Not that she could even picture Professor Cassie harming anything like ever. She was just too sweet for that. The sixth year just sit back listened and took notes. She didn't feel like doing much talking today. Just listening to the lesson, that was all. Asking questions when and if she had them.

First she was suppose to carve a name into the shell. So she carved her name into the turtle shell. She would have to do this rather small since her name was fairly long. She started out carving C-I-N-N-A- She looked at Cassie when Toby ask her the very same question that she was thinking. "Yeah, My full name is pretty long too." She look up and waited to hear Cassie's response to Toby's question and looked down the only way it was fitting was it was going to have to be very small. She was going to leave just Cinna, if she could. Who didn't call her that? In fact she was thinking about Just going by Cinna or Cinnamon and dropping the whole last name part, she could do that right? All sorts of awsome people went by one name.

Merlin. Beyonce. Madonna. Oz. Michelangelo. Oprah.

Yeah this was getting way of off the subject of divination. Oppps.

Oops. Wrong answer. Never mind, Zhenya had already crossed out her answer and put in Ethan's answer. She would do some more research on that tonight if she had the chance, otherwise she would add it to her list of key concepts to research in preparation to NEWT's. But wait, the readings were taken from the underside of the turtle shell? UNDERSIDE? As in... see you later Mr. Turtle, let me see inside your shell? Oh Merlin...

But it was okay, because Professor Cassie explained everything to them and showed them a turtle shell and explained that they had not been taken by harming turtles. Okay, well she could do it then. Ahh, so the vials were of oil and dragon blood? So no experiments then, that was okay. But if dragon blood worked better, then Zhenya decided she would probably use dragon blood too. She wrote down some dot points under the title, so that she knew what they were doing and what its purpose was. And there were their oracle bones, coming towards them. Zhenya left hers on her desk where it landed, deciding she would have a touch once Professor Cassie had finished speaking to them.

First things first, was to carve her name in it. Getting her wand out of the pocked inside her robes, Zhenya pointed it at the shell and carved in her letters; Z-H-E-N-Y-A.

Kace was interested in reading a turtle shell. I mean the study of the turtle shell was called Plastromancy. That is an interesting name. Kace was relieved that no turtles were harmed in getting these shells. Kace knew the turtles like shed their shell if it was too big or something. Now he needed to carve a name into the shell he was doing the prediction for. He thought about names. He could do Emmy, Braedon, Puck or Cinna. Those were the first names off in his mind but he wanted to do his own. He was going to write his own name. He needed to chose between dragons blood and oil. He puckered his lips and wanted to try the dragons blood. I mean because it was cooler!

Now onto doing the first step, he got out his wand and began to carve his name into it. It shouldn't be too hard because it was short and sweet. He began to carve till it said...

SPOILER!!: Carving

So Tia didn't really know how she knew that about the East Asia thing; just one of those random knowledge, but of course she didn't recall exactly what the name of the Divination form was. But hey at least it was a good guess as to what they were doing with the turtles today (because it wasn't like there was much they could do with them).

Plastromancy. Interesting. And sounded vaguely familiar. Tia jotted down some of the key bits mentioned by Professor Cassie and mostly listened attentively to what they had to do. She drew a rough sketch of a turtle shell in her notes and labeled the two parts, making a note to go check a textbook later for a better sketch.

So she had to this form on herself? What if she didn't want to know things about her future because it was a scary prospect. Sure she'd used various forms before on herself, but this just seemed different now. The people she really wanted to know things about well, they were probably going to do their own. Could she do one of them too and maybe see if their notes match up? Because this was all coincidental, wasn't it? The shell they got? It wasn't like they really made the cracks because it was their shell. The cracks were already there. Maybe not visible, but they were there.

Sighing, she figured she better write her own name; even if she didn't believe in its true accuracy. 'T-I-A-M-A-R-I-E' she carved with her wand near the base, deciding the surname wasn't terribly necessary.

M-O-N

Okay there. She was apparently going by Cinnamon now. Just Cinnamon, or Cinna but for this divination lesson she was Cinnamon. At least according to the turtle shell, anyway. Okay so now she had to choose between the oil or the blood. That was a easy choice of course she was going to choose the blood. She wasn't one of those sissy girls afaid of blood and would freak out over it. Haha. So not a sissy girl. She went and got the vial of the blood.

Taking the vial of the blood she poured out the blood onto the shell. Getting her wand she heated up the tip of the one of the pokers. Pushing the pokers into the shell she heard the shell begin to crack so pushing it just a bit more but not enought to crack it deeper. There she placed the poker into the water.

She was done, so she stayed in her seat, and looked around for something to do or maybe someone to help. Or maybe a take a afternoon nap. Because yeah she just had lunch right before this class and everyone knows that after you eat you get sleepy.

Wow wee that was a interesting cracked up shell design. She started sketching it out in her notebook. Really any time she could squeeze in to do some kind of art she would do it.

Eden finished carving her name into the shell and examined her work. She wasn't a very neat carver. Her name looked like it had been written by a CHILD. It made sense why, but still, she squinted at it.

Merlin.

Anyways, she needed to move on. What had Professor Morgan said? She had to pour the blood onto the shell...uncapping the vial, Eden tilted it slowly, allowing the thick, red liquid to wash over the shell. it smelled odd. Not bad, but odd, for sure. Where was Kyroh? They were using DRAGON blood. Letting it seep into the shell, Eden figured she should heat up the...poker thing. She heated it up with her wand and pushed it into the shell, watching as the cracks formed.

This was kinda' cool. Eden liked it, anyways. But she always enjoyed Divination.

Time to do the hot poker stuff. He needed to use two small pokers and heat it with the end of his wand. He totally was brain farting on the spell he needed to use to heat up the poker. Then it clicked and he used the heat up spell..."Incendio!" and then a fire came to life and he put his poker in it and then his other one. Once he felt it was hot the big puff said, "FINITE!" and then it went out. He began to push the pokers into the shell and he saw it began to crack. Well this is good right? This is what Professor Cassie said they would be reading.

Once he was finished with his two pokers, he put it into the bucket next to his desk. Then he realized his carving didn't work. Uh oh....then he heard Toby saying the spell and he went with his spell and began to chant it like in Ancient Runes and said the spell, "Intaglio Kace....Intaglio Kace....Intaglio Kace..." and then he saw it slowly but surely his name on his turtle shell. There we go. Now onto the next set of directions.

Name carved. Now onto the the next part which was to produce or highlight, rather, the turtle shell cracks. Which if Tia considered solo this part, it was rather cool, even if she still didn't buy any of the interpretations. Because what if for instance she had taken another shell; were both shells meant to be for her, or just the first? Is everything purely coincidental?

Right then. Dragon blood. Because Professor Cassie had mentioned something about blood giving a better reading and she had a hard enough time as it was with readings. Uncapping the vial of blood, the fifth year let the thick red substance flow over her shell, trying her best to focus on herself for the most accurate reading. Not about Divination. Her classmates. Her exams. Just her.

She closed her eyes, thinking, and then opened them. Time to heat up her poker to make some cracks more prominent. Or something like that. Incendio, she cast with her wand to create some fire and stuck her poker in the fire with her other hand. After a minute or two, Finite. And the fire was extinguished.

She then proceeded to jab the hot poker into the shell as the Professor had directed. And watched the cracks begin to form in crazy zig-zag like patterns. It was as if everything (her life?) was in chaos.

Janelle tried to keep up with Professor Cassie's explanation of Plastromancy by taking careful notes. She was constantly amazed by the number of things that could be used for Divination. Turtles, who would have thought? Janelle listened as the first part of what they would be doing was explained. This would definitely be interesting.

The first order of business was to get all of her supplies. Janelle got her shell and then looked at the vials that she had been given. Which one would she choose to use? Oil seemed like the obvious answer to Janelle, but dragon's blood.......now that was a special liquid. She decided to carve her name into her shell while she made her final decision.

Janelle took out her wand and began to trace her name into a small portion of the shell. Slowly and neatly, she wrote J-A-N-E-L-L-E. Her name was rather long, so she had to keep her letters small. When she was finished, Janelle stepped back and examined her work. Not bad, if she did say so herself. Now it was time to make the decision on which vial to use and and get things cracking. Janelle chuckled to herself as her mind thought of the bad pun. She was ready.

Pokers... where were the pokers? Adi took his eyes off of the totally fascinating red substance for a moment to locate the poker.Finding it, he pointed his wand. "Incendio!'' This wasn't going to take too long to heat, right? Not if the poker was metal... Nah. The heating didn't take long and soon after, Adi was repeating Professor Cassie's step, placing the heated poker ends into the shell.

Oh, hey! Cracks were happening! Well, he was certainly seeing them. He gave this process a minute or so. Now the poker could be removed now, right? There didn't seem to be more cracking happening now, anyway. In went the poker into the bucket of water next to the table he was seated at with a fierce hiiisssssssssing sound that hot objects make when they came in contact with water.

The Hufflepuff examined the shell. Yup. It looked like the Professor's all right.

Finished carving into the turtle shell, Lux took a moment to inspect her work. 'LUX CARRINGTON' was written in small letters so she had done good with the first step. Moving on to the DRAGONZZZ BLOOD.

It was so RED and normally she didn't like blood so it was kind of weird for her to choose it over the oil. Guess it was the appeal of dragons. Hehe. Removing the stopper from the vial, she poured the liquid over the shell. She had to admit that it looked cool. Hopefully no dragons had been hurt in the process.

Now she needed the poker...

...But where was it?

Confused, the redhead looked around before spotting it. "Aha!" Smiling to herself, Lux pointed her wand at the poker. "Incendio!" Time to get cracking. LOL, she was so punny.

Post 1! Mention of AJ

Angel, just stared at her sister AJ, had she just heard her right? Her sister wanted to drink Dragons Blood, that wouldn't taste nice right and now she was feeling sick. She had a funny feeling that her sister was wishing that she could have drunk the blood, she on the other hand was glad they wasn't.

Angel listened to the rest of what the Professor said and decided that she would figure out later which vial she was going to use... for now she had to get on with the first step.

Angel took her wand out because first she had to carve her name into the shell. She wished that she could pick some celebrity to carve her name into but saying that this probably was the best way because if she found out her favourite band was breaking up or something then she would cry.

Angel got to work carving her name, she first carved her first name Angel and then stopped to look at it, well that looked good, and then she went and carved her second name Valentine, she wanted to do this all correctly first time, she didn't want to have to start again, because she had no idea where the Professor was getting the shells from.

Following Professor Cassie's demonstration, Lux touched the poker to her turtle shell. Immediately a crack appeared so she was clearly doing everything correctly. Pleased with herself, she made another crack

Working at it for a minute or so, Lux soon had pretty cracks all over her shell. It still felt weird to mark up a creature's former home but she felt that the turtle wouldn't have minded. Actually, it was kind of fun. The red really was a nice touch even if blue would have been better. Maybe she could use the colour changing spell on it, but for now she would leave things as they were and finish using her poker.

After making a few more cracks Lux thought that was enough. The poker was placed into the bucket of water.

Hisssssss.

Now what?

Once her name had been carved on the shell, it was time to pour some blood on it. So, she picked up the red vial from the table, obviously the blood, and poured a little bit on the shell. She thought there was enough on there, it looked about the same as what Professor Cassie had done. Now she just needed to put some big cracks in it so that she could actually do what she had to do and read it.

Gathering her wand again, after having carved her name in it, and reaching for one of the small pokers. Hehe poker. She wouldn't be so evil as to poke anyone with it. Especially not after she heated it up. Speaking of, she raised her wand to the tip of the poker, the end she wasn't holding, and said "Incendio," sparking a small and controlled flame from the end of it. She left it on there for long enough that the tip glowed a bit, but thankfully the heat hadn't radiated up the other end of the poker. "Finite," she said, and the flames disappeared. As soon as she put her wand down, she drove the tip of the poker down towards the shell, and saw some cracks appearing. They shot out from the point of impact, spreading out, and twisting around the shell. Perfect.

Angel now had to decide if she wanted to use oil or dragons blood, she decide that she would probably get a better reading because blood was supposed to do that right though she wasn't going to drink any of it even if the Professor tried to tell them it.

Angel then grabbed the vial, and removed the stopper before she poured it over the shell and looked at it, this was so amazing and it looked so amazing as well.

She found the poker and smiled, so now it was time to get cracking, why couldn't this be an egg, they were so easy to crack. She then giggled as she realised she'd need to heat it up.

"Incendio!" Angel pointed her wand at the poker and then started to get cracking with the shell... when she was sure there was enough cracks in the shell she put the poker in a bucket of water.

With step one completed, Janelle moved on to the next part of the task. She decided that she would go with the oil and picked up the vial with the yellow liquid. After opening the vial, Janelle poured a bit of it onto her shell. Then she picked up one of the pokers and grabbed her wand with her other hand. "Incendio", she said as she touched her wand to the tip of the poker. When it appeared to be hot enough, Janelle said, "Finite".

Moving quickly before the poker cooled, Janelle touched it to the turtle shell and gave it a push. All of sudden, cracks began to appear in the shell, creating a puzzle-like pattern. "Cool", she thought. Janelle spent a moment, mezmerized by the shell. Then she remembered to place the hot poker in the bucket of water. After a brief sizzle, the poker appeared to cool down. Were they ready to do their readings now? Janelle continued to study her shell while she waited to hear the next steps.

Dragon blood. That was Hady's vial of choice today. It wasn't that hard of a decision to make honestly as she had a love for dragons.

With her name already being nicely etched into the shell of the turtle she was ready to move on to the next steps. Selecting the vial of dragons blood Hady popped the cork out and carefully poured the red liquid over the shell watching it seep into the grooves where her name was carved. This was kinda cool.

After that was done Hady reached for the poker that was laying on her desk using a quiet 'incendio' on it with her wand to heat the tip up. Without wasting any time she touched the poker to the turtle shell and watched how a crack instantly ran down along the shell. Wicked!

Doing this a few more times each with just a light touch of the poker Hady grinned as the cracks meet one another and a few took on a small zigzag like pattern. When she was done she set the hot end of her poker into the bucket of water. She was all ready for the next step.

“They are!” Yoongi said as the Professor mentioned that turtles were fun creatures. But when he realised he had said that out loud he felt his cheeks starting to feel warm and he quickly cleared his throat. Don’t mind him, just , happy that she liked turtles as well…

He was very disappointed that she put the turtle back in the box and it was out of sight. But maybe it was for the best because he would not be paying attention with that cute thing walking around. Oh wait! Wait wait waaaait note taking must happen now! He quickly wrote down his notes about Plastromancy and that the oracle was the lower part …whatever that meant.

Looking at the shell in front of him, Yoongi was about to question the Professor about animal cruelty when she already explained herself. Well, it sounded good….she was off the hook for now… He examined his shell and when he found a place he could carve his name in he grabbed his phoenix wand to write his name.

Turtles were the most boring creatures ever. Sure, Grayson could see how they could be considered to be cute or whatever but they didn't DO anything. What was the freaking point?

He kept his eyes on the turtle up front right up until the moment Professor Cassie scooped it back up again. Alriiiiiight, so they were gonna be using the Oracle Bone then. And only had to carve their first names, yeah? Because Grayson Douglas Whitlock was kinda a long name. And even if you take out the middle name part, the name was still freakishly long. Seriously.

Picking up his wand and the turtle shell, Grayson went ahead to start carving his name onto the oracle bone. Name. First AND surname because, as Toby had mentioned, only putting one name could mix up the readings and there was no way he was gonna put all this hard work in just to do a reading for someone else. No. Tell him about his own future, please. and be accurate about it as well, mkay?

So carving. Grayson Whitlock. Long name was too freaking long.

Carving his full name B-E-N-J-A-M-I-N alongside his surname took a bit of time but it was appropriate. No more Benny for him. When it was finally done, he picked up the deep red vial and uncorked it. No need for a choice for him...dragon's blood would be what he used. He just hoped it was obtained without too much harm from the creature. Pouring it over his shell, he waited for it to flow along all of the hard surface before double checking what the next step was.

Right...red-hot poker.

Ben picked the cool one up and held it in his left hand as he reached for his wand once more. "Incendio." he cast on the tip of the poker, heating it up and hoping the heat didn't travel up the handle. When he figured it was hot enough, he poked the shell in front of him as directed. A mirade of cracks appeared in the oracle bone along the surface of the shell in reaction to the heat.

Success!

Then remembering the last bit, he quickly placed the poker in the bucket. He didn't want any more incidents in class for sure.

Okay so now that the oil was all over the shell and his name was properly carved, the next bit sounded easy. Just take the poker thing and heat it, then poke? Yeah, easy enough anyways. Again, Zander watched some of the others in the room go at it first before he took his own poker and heated just the end. Didn't need to heat it all up 'cause then he wouldn't be able to hold it properly. That'd mess the entire operation up, too.

So yeah, just the end. Once that was done he softly poked the shell and watched as little cracks appeared all over it. Huh. Who knew, would you look at that. The cracks looked kind of curious and Zander could only imagine what they meant. Of course he was having a pretty hard time imagining because he hadn't ever done this plastic oh mancy before.

Clearly.

Since he was done with the poker thing, he put that back in the water, like Professor Morgan instructed and went straight back at his shell. Except he left it on the table, afraid that he'd accidentally break it now that it was already all cracked up. Just wondering what it meant was all.

Her name looked pretty cool carved into the shell. Too bad it wasn't carved a little bit neater. That wasn't really her style though. It would look fake honestly. Okay so now that her name was done it was time for the blood. AJ picked up her vial and poured it all over the shell. The blood was kind of pretty. She couldn't help but to get a quick sniff in. Hmm... it didn't really smell different.

Once she got her fill of dragon blood smell, it was HOT POKER TIME. AJ picked one up and let her wand get this bad boy all warmed up. "Incendio." It was definitely looking red hot so it had to be hot enough to get the job done.

The poker was placed to the shell and it began to crack in several places at one. Cool. It made some pretty cool designs. She kept the poker on the shell until she felt like there was enough cracks to work with. If she was going to read about her future or whatever... she was going to do it right.

All done. The poker was put into the bucket of water, and was ready to see what her future held... again.

So, it's not based on the shell's pattern.

Somehow he felt like a fail Asian because he didn't know about this. But hey, he's Korean and not a Chinese. So... it's an excuse, okay?

Back to the lesson.

So they're gonna carved at the oracle bone. Hmm... First, Jackson grabbed an oracle bone, then he started craving his name. Wait... what name should he use? His Korean name or English name? Maybe he should try with his English name first: Jackson Hwang. Then he should decide whether he's gonna use dragon blood or oil. Staring at those two vials, he thought for a while. Blood or oil? Blood or oil? Blooo... no, maybe he should use the oil but... Okay, finally he grabbed the dragon blood's vial.

So the turtles, whether killed unnaturally or not, had to be dead in order for this form of divination to be done. He spun the little shell that was levitated toward his work area and considered this fact. Out of the corner of his eye he tried to observe some of the other students with tendencies toward animal welfare in hopes of gaining an amusement.

He went up and grabbed the phial of dragons blood and brought it back to the turtle shell. He grabbed the shell in one hand and with the other began to carve out his name. Rigorous P. Johnson. One of his many aliases.

Leah & Zander got cred for following him into the unknown. He'd be asking them about their wands later.

...

...

... So... that was... blood? Um.

Oppps.

Oh good, no one seemed to have any issues with using Dragon's blood or the shells themselves. She had feared she'd have some try to say they couldn't do it, but she had a great class as always! Just look at the gas lesson even the girls were awesome in it! Turning her head she heard first Toby and then Cinna ask similar questions, "Well you both are dominantly called by your nicknames so I feel those would work. They aren't some crazy off the wall names just a shortened version of your full name. As for your last name Toby, you could try to carve small, but you could also just use Fuller or Thomas. I don't see the reading being off since they are both part of you whether you use them together or not. " Hoping that answered the question she turned as the next voice caught her attention.

Hearing Aj she looked at her confused a second, had she not heard the direction, but then it seemed like she figured it out. "I would never make you drink any sort of blood. Nor would I ask you to do anything that could potential make you sick." Giving her a smile she looked around for anymore questions.

Seeing that everyone was finishing their shells, Cassie made her way back to the front of the room. Flicking her wand and allowing pictures of shells and meaning to appear on the board. "Now the readings are all based on the way the crack looks, but also the direction it's heading. Many times if the crack is heading downward it is meaning something more challenging or not great news, if it is moving upward it's usually more positive." She loved to think of it as uplifting since it was moving up.

"For the remainder of the class I would like you to look at your shell and jot down what it looks like and then follow the pictures I have put on the board or find the page in your text. Write down what the meaning of the cracks could be. If you have two different cracks you might want to pull them together and think of the meaning behind it. If the top crack is moving downward it could mean some challenges ahead, but the lower is moving upward could mean that you will come out on top and have good come out of the challenge."

Quote:

Crack is a straight line that moves upward before turning down: You will find yourself with a great opportunity to advance in your personal life.

Crack is going upward, but not in a straight more of a zig zag form: You will be faced with choice one will be a good choice the other will give you great complications.

Crack is going straight across: You will continue on the path you are on right now. You will maintain the mood and happenings that are in your life at this point.

Crack is going downward: You will be facing a situation that will involve negativity and sadness.

Crack is moving straight upward: Good things will come to you. You will find yourself faced with riches and success.

Alright. Shell carved? Cheque. Blood gotten? Cheque. He was missing the hot poker was all. He scooted away from the desk carrying his shell for a certain amount of paranoia and finding a poker, took it back with him where he could finish the process of getting that little shell to crack.

It was sort of destructive, this process and form of Divination. Playing with blood and fire and causing a slow, elegant ruin of an item. He felt this as he uncorked the phial of blood and poured the entirety of it's contents onto the surface where he'd carved one of his many aliases. Using his fingers, he rubbed the blood into the name to make it stand out more. Then, holding the poker and getting blood all over the handle end, he casted on it.

"Incendio." Fire ignited from the end of his wand and he watched the poker become red and orange with heat. When he thought it was hot enough, Cutty pressed it into the turtle shell. The sight was lovely, but the sound...the sound was what really got him. His personal moment of zen.

He had carved his name at the oracle bone: Jackson Hwang. He also already got the blood. So, what's next? The poker... right. The Korean boy then grabbed two pokers. So he already got everything. Moving on to the next step, okay?

He had decided to use dragon blood instead the oil. How much blood that he needed to drop at the shell? A drop? Two, Or the entire vial? Then he put like one or two drops of dragon blood at his oracle bone. It was enough, right? Jackson hoped so. Theeeeen.... With his wand, he cast the fire-conjuring charm to heat the pokers. "Incendio." He heated them until the color changed into red-orange. After that he pressed the pokers into the oracle bone.

Hmmm...

So, what should he do once the crack had done?

Norah held the vial of dragon's blood up to her nose to inspected it carefully. She wasn't entirely sure why she'd done it, considering there wasn't actually any way to TELL if the dragon it'd been taken from had been a happy dragon, but she couldn't just not try. The dragon had to be okay, right? They were tough 'n all that, they could get through losing a little blood and still be a-okay. Probably. Hopefully. She wsa just going to pretend it was a happy dragon 'cause she was already falling behind on this turtle thing. She took the stopped out of the vial and poured some of the thick, red liquid over the shell, lopsided carving and all. That was it, yeah? Wrinking her nose 'cause apparently even though the blood was a cool color it still smelled funny, she sealed the vial again and set it aside. Alrighty. Cracking time.

The fourth year picked up her wand in one hand and the poker in the other. "Incendio," she cast on the tip of the poker. She watched the flame with a little smile because the colors of fire were EVEN COOLER than the colors of dragon blood, then cast "Finite" when the poker itself began to glow orange. Did she just....poke it? It was called a poker, after all. Norah brought the glowing poker down and pressed it on the shell, jumping slightly at the sound of the crack. Nobody saw that, right? Real teenagers shouldn't get startled that easily.

Question!

Eden waited for the cracks to form..and placed the poker in the bucket of water next to her table. WELL THEN. She waited and...hmm. The cracks didn't look identical to any of those pictures, but she tried to pick out which one it resembled MOST.

Picture three.

So her life would remain...pretty much the same, then? She wrote this down and sighed. She was hoping for some uplifting things...but then..meh. MEH. She raised her hand a little. "Do you, personally, Professor, think it makes a different between using the oil and the blood?" she asked softly. "I would think blood...the dragon blood..it has magical properties...I would think it works better but I'm not sure." She was just CURIOUS.

Whew, okay, so 'Toby' was fine. He hadn't wasted a shell thing or anything and didn't need to start over. It DID look like he'd have to carve his full name, though. Toby nodded slowly and looked at the oracle bone, considering the professor's suggestion. Though really, there was no question about it. He wasn't going to choose just one name, it would be both. He looked up again and smiled. "Cool. Thanks professor!"

ALRIGHT. Time to get on with this carving then. Still using the Intaglio spell, Toby worked at the shell, trying his hardest to carved his entire full name onto it, making it kinda small like Professor Cassie had suggested. So, in the end, he was left with his first name in BIG letters... and then his double-barreled surname underneath and about half the size.

That had taken a while, and it seemed as though people were already starting to move on. Toby looked up at the vials and grabbed himself one that had oil in it, 'cause yeeeaaahhhh, still not feeling the whole blood thing. He poured that on the shell, then went and got himself a poker.

The heating it up part had stumped Toby for a moment, but he'd seen those around him use 'Incendio' to get the end nice and hot. That seemed to have worked for them, so he did just the same. "Incendio."

When the end of the poker was hot and glowing orange, it was time. He pressed the end into the shell, as intructed, until the shell cracked, then set the poker aside into the little bucket of water where it gave a great HISSSS and sent steam off the surface of the liquid.

FearlessLeader19 06-16-2015 06:54 PM

Question for Cassie ^_^

Now that he heard Professor Cassie telling AJ about the blood, he looked over at his girlfriend with a quizzical look. Had she woken up on the wrong side of her bed with her head not on right? Tut, tut. Blood's not for drinking, AJ.
....................

The sixth year focused his attention on the board, studying the pictures and the meanings the Professor had magicked onto there. Since everything he needed was already on the board, he pulled his parchment and quill towards him before focusing on the shell. The dragon blood surely made it a whole lot easier to see the cracks.

The first crack Adi noticed was the one going straight across. "You will continue on the path you are on right now. You will maintain the mood and happenings that are in your life at this point,'' he read from the board. Hmmm. Maintain his mood? Yeah, he would. Moving on! There was a second crack going all the way upward in a straight direction. "Good things will come to you. You will find yourself faced with riches and success.'' Ooh! Adi liked the sound of that! Did that mean he would own that Hippogriff/Unicorn fast realllllly soon after graduating from Hogwarts? It was the main thing he had had mind focused on achieving. This question in turn made a question pop up in his head.

"Professor? Do these meanings have a time frame? I mean do they apply for... let's say a few weeks or month? Or will they come through within a few days?'' Errr, was that a stupid question? Heh. While he waited for an answer, Adi finished up looking for anymore cracks before scribbling down:

Quote:

The crack which is going across means I will not change my mood change despite what's going on but the crack going upward means I will have good things coming to me including success and riches. Together, these two could mean that regardless of what is going on right now with me, I won't let it bother me now and I'll have good things coming afterward. It's like waiting out the storm, I guess.
Annnnd... DONE!

Norah wrote down each crack meaning in her notes as Professor Cassie introduced it, doing her best to draw the crack like in the picture but failing miserably because apparently drawing turtle cracks wasn't a job for people with no patience. Lame. There went another job opportunity down the toilet. Pushing her parchment to the edge of the table again, she leaned close to her turtle shell and squinted at it, holding her nose 'cause that blood stuff was still having a funny smell that her nose didn't seem to be a huge fan of.

The crack started out going upwards except not really because it was doing some sort of zig zag thing. Huh. She wrote that observation down in her notes, then turned her head sideways to look at the shell some more. The second half and the first half didn't really seem to agree with each other, 'cause it had kind of turned into a whole nother crack branching off of the first one which meant one and a half cracks? What qualified as a whole crack, anyways? The first crack continued going up in a zig zag type thing like before, but the second, littler one was just going down. She added those two observations to her notes. Okay, so. What'd that MEAN?

Oh, Okay. Good. She had already carved Cinna in their but she thought she had enough room to go ahead carve in her whole name. "Awesome." Nodding toward professor Cassie and sent her smile before working on finishing her name up on the shell.

So these cracks where were they? Which way were they going? Well It looked like there was three very different cracks on her shell. One crack going straight across, meaning that she will stay on the same path and she would keep the mood and happenings of the things going on now. Hmmm. Was that suppose to be a good thing? She really wasn't sure how she felt about the things there were going on right now. Another crack was kind of a zigged one moving up toward the top. Choices one good and that would be complicated. Well. That might be a good thing. Then the last crack was going downward meaning facing a negative sititation that would be sad.

WEll then was a promising. Not.

OKay.... Yeah that was not confusing at all.

Kate thought her shell looked kind of weird, but she guessed that wasn't really the point she was supposed to be getting at here. Deciding she should really get a move on, she raised her wand and pointed it toward the turtle. She traced her wand in the shape of the letters in her name and pretty soon, her full name was carved into the shell.

Well, that was done. Now what?

Oh, right. The blood or the oil? Kate immediately wanted to go for the blood, because her mom was a Dragonologist, and Kate thought the connection was cool. Kate collected the blood and poured just a bit of it onto the shell. She watched with slight fascination as the blood trickled across the shell.

Really, the hardest part of this activity was categorising exactly what the cracks in the shell looked like. It was all pretty subjective, really. Someone might see things one way and someone else might define the same crack as totally different. But then Toby figured that was probably part of the magic of Divination, at least when doing your own reading; it was YOUR brain looking at the thing, and it would probably see what it needed to see. That made him feel more confident about things.

Toby's oracle bone had a crack that was going right down the middle. Except he couldn't tell WHICH direction it was going in, up or down. Not that it really mattered, because he'd already had a glimpse of the meanings behind everything, and seen what a downward crack meant. His brain had refused to accept that it might be that one, and already Toby was writing down the more positive prediction, along with a couple others he'd spotted.

Quote:

Crack down the middle, biggest one, also a smaller one going straight across from the side of the shell.

"Crack is moving straight upward: Good things will come to you. You will find yourself faced with riches and success."

This is the main crack I can see on the shell. It goes basically right down up the middle which obviously means good things are coming. Hopefully real good things, as it's the biggest, most noticeable crack on the shell. I don't care too much about riches, but success is always nice, though really I hope it just means happiness and all that.

"Crack is going straight across: You will continue on the path you are on right now. You will maintain the mood and happenings that are in your life at this point."

I'm not sure this really fits with the other one, but maybe it means that things are currently better than I think they are, you know? If things will remain the same but also be good, that means things right now are probably already more good than I thought.
Mkay. Done.

...

......

.........

Except no, he wasn't. He'd cheated. He'd not been honest and he'd chosen the prediction he'd WANTED and now Toby felt AWFUL and FULL OF GUILT. Disproportionately so. He was no stranger to lying, not really, but in this context it felt awful, because Toby had very strict personal rules about when it was okay to lie, and it was usually more to do with telling people he was okay when he wasn't. Dishonest Divination predicitions benefited no-one, and it was like CHEATING in his SCHOOLWORK. He couldn't take it. COULDN'T HANDLE THE GUILT. So he hurriedly added more to his parchment.

Quote:

The crack down the middle could actually be moving down instead of up, I just didn't want to think of it that way, but it might be true. If so:

"Crack is going downward: You will be facing a situation that will involve negativity and sadness."

I don't want that to happen.
....... Toby sank down a little in his chair. Sudden sads had hit and it was all his own fault. He wanted to leave now. Was class over yet?

Okay, this part seemed pretty easy. There weren't too many cracks on her shell and they all tended to be on the big side.

Glancing at the board, Lux made a mental note of the different images before opening her notebook to a new page. The first thing that she noticed on the shell was a crack that moved upwards in a zig-zag manner. She wasn't sure what to think of that, but oh well. Maybe there was something nicer for her to interpret. Shrugging it off, she then made note of the crack that moved upwards in a straight line before going down. Okay, that was better...and the meanings could actually be related to each other.

The last crack moved across the shell in a straight line. She supposed the meaning for that one was good...at least nothing bad came to her from it, but she would not be on the same path forever because there was so much that she wanted to do with her life. So much would change when she graduated, and Lux couldn't wait.

Picking up her pencil, she recorded all her findings in her notes:

Crack moves straight across: You will continue on the path you are on right now. You will maintain the mood and happenings that are in your life at this point.

It seems that I will be faced with two choices: one with a good result, and the other with a complicated result. Given the fact that I will also find myself with an opportunity to advance in my personal life I'd say that the two readings are related to each other. It also seems that I am going to continue on the path that I am on now - which means the great opportunity for personal advancement will be turned down. I don't understand why I would turn down a great opportunity that is beneficial to me, so I am not sure what to make of this.

Kate should really get a move on. It looked like they were nearly ready to wrap things up, and she still needed to get a poker and start poking around. She selected a poker and pointed her wand toward the end of it. She spent a few moments heating it then ended the spell and put her wand away for now. She pushed the heated end into the shell, making a small crack.

Things were moving along now. Good. Kate put the heated end of the poker into the bucket of ice. Her ten minutes were probably close to being up, so next step now? Yes.

Zander stared at his turtle shell for a while. A very long while. So long that all the cracks sort of looked like one giant one now? And the more he thought about it... None of the other cracks were anything major. One stood out more than the rest and the other ones were like little baby ones that probably didn't even count.

Maybe this is what Professor Morgan meant by the preference between the oil and blood. It got Zander thinking, y'know? Like.... Would he have had more cracks if he chose to use the blood instead? Interesting. Not that he really cared all too much either way. He was really just in this class 'cause he'd done well on the OWL. And 'cause Professor Morgan was nice despite all the... erm... Anger potion things that had happened. And, divination wasn't all that bad, so long as he followed along with the class.

Which meant he had to get a move on because it looked like everyone else was already getting to their interpretations!! Oops.

Right. So the big crack on his looked like it was going from the left to the right... Which meant, uh a straight across crack? That sounded about right. He quickly glanced at his notes to see what that meant and huh. Interesting.

Okay, he could work with that.

The crack on my shell is going straight across which means I'm not really going to be doing much. Well, not like that. But I'm staying pretty much in the same circumstances that I'm in now. Nothing is really gonna change, which is weird and I'm not sure if I like that. But I'm gonna stay in the same mindset, which is hopefully wrong because I've got a lot to learn before NEWTs next year. And Professor Flamsteed wants to see me change my mindset about stuff too so this can't be a good sign. But uh, yeah. No change. Staying constant. Straight path, basically.

And they were moving along to the next step now. Luckily it appeared to be a rather simple step with no real skill needed. First things first though she needed to copy down those notes. Picking up her quill which had been set aside earlier at the beginning of the lesson Hady also took out a piece of clean parchment and began to neatly write down what each crack meant.

As she was taking notes the snakette couldn't help but to glance of at her turtle shell. She was silently hoping for something good honestly cause who wouldn't be?

Done with note taking she carefully pulled the turtle shell in front of her to examine the cracks running through it. Most of the lines crisscrossed through another line. It was sorta hard to tell where one line began and another ended. SIGH. Maybe this wasn't going to be as easy as she'd thought.

Quote:

Crack is going downward: You will be facing a situation that will involve negativity and sadness.

Crack is going upward, but not in a straight more of a zig zag form: You will be faced with choice one will be a good choice the other will give you great complications.

Crack is a straight line that moves upward before turning down: You will find yourself with a great opportunity to advance in your personal life.

My turtle shell had four cracks on it. The longest one was running downwards in the center of the shell, this is supposed to mean a situation is coming my way that will bring sadness. I'm not entirely sure of these next two as they both were a bit zig-zaggy and ran into each other... so it appears that sooner or later I'll be faced with having to make some type of choice about something. The last crack that goes up before turning down means an opportunity to move forward in my life.
Setting her quill down Hady's eyes moved from what she'd written on her parchment to the cracks on the turtles shell. Most of it was rather conflicting. How was this supposed to play out? Was something bad going to happen, then a hard decision be made before something really good? It didn't make much sense to her right now so after another moment of rereading it Hady pushed it aside. She wasn't going to stress herself out about it right now.
