As you make your way through the trap door a sense of normality might set in. Thought the seventh floor corridor is filled with cobwebs and you might be wiping them from your face and hands from the ladder, Professor Cassie has cleaned up the best she could in the classroom and set it back to her favorite colors. Even with all the cleaning you may find that there are a few cobwebs already starting to appear in the corners of the room.
The room is filled with calming music and lavender fills the room and there is tea set out for anyone who would like some. The word plastromancy is on the bored and Bob the box turtle is set up in a little playpen with his ball rolling it around. Professor Cassie is at the front of the room sipping on her own peppermint tea waiting for the students to come in. As always on the table is the snap cup just waiting for students proud moments.
Norah squinted at the shell Professor Cassie was holding up, turning her head sideways to see if it'd help her make it out better. News flash. It didn't. She thought she saw some sort of zig zag ish....thing, so she put a hand up just in case she WAS seeing correctly. Apparently it was a bad day to not be wearing her glasses, even if they DID get in the way of everything fun. Usually she could get away with squinting but apparently turtle shells were too cool for that. Sigh. "I think there's a zig zag and that means you're going to have a make a choice that will end up really good or really bad." Yes no maybe so? She added a doodle of a turtle to the top of her parchment, just in case they were going to get to work with their own shells again and her turtle needed a friend.
"I'm great. Hope you are as well, professor." She smiles at her before the sixth year headed over to grab a cup of tea. Oh look it was Bob. Hi Bob. She gently patted his shell. Waving at Lux, too. Then she headed over to her seat where Emmy joined her and Kace soon joined them. Hey people.
-------------------------------
It was long that she had sat down and took a few sips of her tea that professor Cassie started the lesson. She listened to the others giving their answers. She nodded in agreement with them. Cinna didn't feel very opinionated on the subject today. A rare thing for her. So she just sat there sipping on her tea.
Well then continuing to listen the opinions popped in her head. "If the crack is straight across then things will stay the same as they are right now and continue that way." She ended with a nod. She wouldn't mind getting a reading like that. She was very happy about the way things were going for her right now.

Janelle smiled as Professor Cassie responded to her greeting. "I'm doing fine thanks", she replied. She hoped to be able to give the same answer after Divination class was over. Janelle really wanted to do well on whatever activity they'd be working on today.
Then it was time for class to begin. The first question had do do with cracks in turtle shells. Janelle thought back to the previous lesson and then raised her hand. "If the crack goes in a downward direction, it means that bad or sad things are in store for you." That would definitely be a crack that Janelle hoped she wouldn't see. No time for negative things here. Nope.

Right. Cracks on the shell. Kate remembered studying those during the last lesson. There were five different cracks they'd studied, if she remembered correctly. She tried to go over all of them in her head, but as her classmates started sharing their own answers, Kate's line of thinking kept getting interrupted. She was trying to come up with something that hadn't been said, but with everyone else sharing answers, too, she couldn't remember what had been said and what hadn't.
"What about a crack that goes straight downward?" she asked, raising her hand. "It means negativity and sadness." Speaking of which, how were you supposed to tell if the crack started up top and moved downward, or if started at the bottom and moved upward? Because, both of those meant two different things.

...................
Soooo, they would be working with ickle Bob again. WOOT! Could they get to watch him and his ball antics for a while longer though? Adi found that VERYYY entertaining. Yup! And of course he knew Cassie wouldn't be harming the turtle. As if she could harm a soul...
Oh, new cracks on the shell. Adi could see one of those so he raised a hand. "There's one that's going downward but it's all zig zaggy.'' Could Cassie see it? It was riiiiiiight there. Mhmmm. "It could mean that choices that will all result in negative things.'' How exactly did he reason that? Well, the crack going upward and zig zag meant a choice of something good and another of something with complications. A normal crack going downward meant negativity and sadness sooooooo he combined those two meanings to come up with that new one.
"Yes very good Adi!" He received snaps for such a fantastic answer. She looked at the shell and then back out to the group.

Angel raised her hand. "Professor, there's a straight line there." Angel pointed at it. "It's moving upwards, then it turns downwards" Angel thought about the next thing. "That means you will find yourself with a great opportunity to advance in your personal life, right Professor?"
"Wonderful job, that's exactly what that means. Now if you would put the two readings together that Adi said and you what do you think that would mean?" This is where things always got tricky. Of course Angel got snaps for a great answer!

Lifting her tea cup Hady took another sip of the hot liquid enjoying the peppermint taste it left in her mouth. Holding her cup close to her body so it wouldn't spill she continued to take slow even breaths inhaling the soothing scents around her and allowing herself to relax a little as the lesson began.
From what she gathered of the Professors words they'd be working with Bob again. Or well at least something to do with turtles and or their shells. Slowly raising her hand into the air she gave the one answer she could remember and that hadn't yet be given, "There's a line going straight across the shell. I think that one means that you'll be staying on the same path you're on now, nothing will be changing." Thinking back to the lines she'd gotten on her turtle shell during the previous lesson Hady wished a straight line across would've been one of them...sadly it hadn't been.
She glanced at the line before looking back to Hady, "Very good. You have a great sense of reading shells." What a positive reading too! She got snaps!

"I'm glad Bob's doing well too!" Yeah. Super super glad.
Were they not reading from the snap cup today? That was weird but Toby just went along with it; maybe Professor Cassie was switching it up and doing the proud moments at the end of the lesson instead or something.
As for the cracks in the shell, Toby squinted as he tried to remember what some of them were and what they meant. He'd sort of attempted to forget his own try at reading the cracks in the shell that one lesson. Cleansed it from his memory like he always did with unfavourable things. But that made it harder to remember the relevant things. Still, he raised his hand to give it a go.
"Is it... I think there's one were... a crack in the shell moving upwards means, like... maybe a positive thing? Like, good things will happen?" Logically, that sounded right. Maybe. Kind of. "I can't... remember." Y'know, just a disclaimer there.
Yeeeaaahhhh... Toby needed to step up his Divination studying game. He'd been far too focused on the subjects he usually had trouble with so that now he'd forgotten to keep up with the others. The same had happened with his OWLs, but Toby was confident he could get back on top of things like he'd done before. Yeah. Sure. Cool cool cool.
She kept a watchful eye on Toby, she was still worried about the lad, but he seemed to be doing alright today. "Very good Toby, that is certainly a great answer!" He was getting snaps as well.

This was a "there's no wrong answers" kind of class. AJ sure did appreciate that.
Oh, tea? "I would actually love some." How did she miss it? The fourth year got up and helped herself to some. "Thanks." Oh, did Lux want some too? She probably should have asked. No time to worry about that now though because the lesson was moving on.
Umm... she did see the zig zag that some of the others pointed out. This was the part where you could really say anything... Raising her hand, she waited to be called on. "I think the zig zag means that you should abort whatever plans you had going because they are doomed for failure." See. Totally pulled that answer out of left field. Even if it wasn't technically correct it still wouldn't matter.
"Sometimes though failure is a good learning tool. We need to fail to succeed at times. How awful would it be to just succeed always in life. What would we learn by that?" She gave her snaps for a brilliant answer though, "you are correct on your reading though." She also got a beaming smile.

"Very good Cinna, those are my favorite cracks at times." She liked change, but she liked when things were staying nice and the same. Snapping she moved on to the next hand.

"Very good Kate if a crack moves downward it does mean negative things." She gave her snaps and was glad they weren't having negative things here today!
As she snapped for the class something hit her.
"OHMYGOSH!!!!"
She hurried over to the snap cup, "I got so excited to start our lesson I forgot the most important part. Let's get the positive vibes flowing shall we?" Oh yes they shall. Pulling out the very first snap she looked it over. "I'm proud of myself for being able to handle most of my problems on my own. Snaps for solving our own problems." That was a great one for everyone that could do this. She moved on to the next snap and the next until she had read every single snap. "Finally deciding my career" Snaps for figuring out careers "Moved on from toxic and irrelevant hags." Hmm.. well.. ummm Snaps for moving on." Yes that last one was very interesting, but they were moving on and moving on was a positive things.
"Now we have talked about what the cracks mean, which all of you have done very well at remembering. If you need a refresher you can find it in your text book that you have brought with you today. Before we do get started with the shells though, who could tell me the steps that are needed to preform plastromancy?"
Oh.. She glanced at Bob as she sensed some anxiety from him. No, no don't worry Bob no one was doing this on you!!
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Oh, hey! Looky! Adi had actually given another good answer for this subject. It never ceased to surprise him. He tilted his head at Angel. Cassie had directed the question to her but he was still trying to reason out the answer.
Ahhh! The Snap Cup! Even Adi had forgotten about this! But as Cassie was the Professor, Adi was so amused by HER forgetting about it. Hehe. Soooo full of energy she was and he couldn't blame her one bit for forgetting.
The Hufflepuff's hand went up for the next question. "First we need to inscribe the name of the person whom the reading is going to be about on a corner of the turtle's shell.'' This was the first step if he remembered right.

So it was official. Tia was pretty much doomed on her Divination OWL. Because she'd only JUST done this class and she could barely recall what the cracks meant in plastromancy. It was a weird method of divination anyway, but still, if she couldn't remember what they meant now, how was she supposed to get CLOSE to passing her exam in just a few months?
Oh, good, procedure review now. Raising her hand, Tia offered up one of the steps she remembered. "Use either blood or oil to help bring the cracks out?" Yea. Can Professor Cassie just tell her now to not even bother with Divination?

Angel looked at the Professor as she spoke about putting hers and Adi's answers together, well he said something about resulting in negative things and she suddenly got what she needed to say.
Raising her hand, she smiled. "Professor well some choices are very hard, like say you have the chance to progress in your career, like your a Professor, say a big university wants you in another country then that it a great personal achievement for you and a great chance to advance." Angel stopped hoping the Professor was following her. "But if you have children and a wife then there might be negatives as well, even without them there would be, moving to a new place is hard and can be very depressing at first since you won't know anyone and in some cases you might not even know the language." Angel stopped there, she thought it was important that she didn't lose the Professor.
Angel then listened to the next question and raised her hand. "You need to make sure the shell is free of meat otherwise the reading might be wrong."

Did she have any adventures? "I sure did!" she said. No term at Hogwarts was ever uneventful.
When Professor Cassie overlooked the proud moments and began the lesson, Lux was a little surprised.
Her classmates were covering the first question well, so she refrained from answering and instead focused on writing notes. She was trying to keep on top of those during lessons because they would come in handy for the NEWTS next term.
And there were the proud moments.
Lux snapped along as each one was read. Way to go everyone!! Yaaaay. She loved these. At the next question, she raised her hand. "You need to heat the shell with a poker so that the cracks will form!" Yep.
Ahhh, therrrre was the snap cup reading thing. That was good. All was right with the world. Toby did the snaps along with the others when they were read out, though that last one made him tilt his head a little. Someone had had trouble with a hag? Toby had never even met a hag before. That was bizarre.
Oh. Right. Anyway. Divination. He raised his hand.
"You do a thing with a hot poker and it makes it crack or something I think. Like you press it against the shell and the heat makes it go crcckkkkk!" ... Another pause. "Like Lux said." Mainly Toby had just wanted to make the cool noise.
Also, his memory was not firing all cylinders today, not at all. But Toby was pretty sure he remembered brandishing a red hot poker in this room at one point, and logic dictated it had something to do with the form of Divination they had been studying. So he wanted to say the one thing he remembered for sure. He squinted a bit and rubbed at his head.
Did... anyone else just get that sudden urge to grab their Divination textbook and start studying? The feeling like they were wasting valuable NEWTs study time despite being mid-lesson? Because... that was happening to Toby. He eyed his textbook, but refrained, mostly because it would be unspeakably rude to Professor Cassie, who was always lovely. But... the itch to study was there.
... NEWT stress did things to a person, okay?

SEEEE? She had been right. Honestly, AJ didn't remember all of the crack details, and she just had to say something along the lines of being bad and BOOM. The got snaps. AJ was glad that she had been correct though. It really was a nice feeling.
Oh yeah, the snap cup. AJ didn't even notice that she hadn't done them. She apparently was very preoccupied with Bob. Could he play with his ball now?
Umm... all of the answers that she could think of had already been said. What could she add to it that wouldn't be a repeat? Nothing came to mind so she continued to stare at Bob. She still didn't understand why she couldn't hold him.
WAIT. She DID have something. "Don't we have to clear our minds for this? Like, i you are stressing or thinking about something to intensely won't it cloud your readings?" So, she didn't know if that mattered regarding the cracks, but the mind can make you do crazy things.

Janelle was glad that she had remembered the information about turtle shell crack patterns. Then she had to dig back into her memory because the next question was also a review of what they had learned during the last class. Raising her hand, Janelle offered her two cents.
"After you crack the shell with the hot poker, you have to put the poker in a bucket of water. That way it can cool off quickly." That wasn't a very important step in the process, but it was a step nontheless. Answer given, Janelle went back to to listening to her classmates.

As everyone is busy discussing what the topic is for today no one notices a small flick of a wand and the light going out. It is completely black in your classroom. Was there someone moving quickly around?
What was that noise? Books falling?
A small hiss can be heard from a small pet playpen and when the lights turn on the little pen might seem a bit empty other than the ball sitting still.
Cinna sipped on her tea. Nodding in agreement at Cassie comment. Change was a good thing that was true. She continued to listen to some of the other answers. Oh. The snap cup reading! She felt as though there was something missing in this lesson but she had quite put her finger on it. But yes the snap cup that was in.
Then they went on to discuss the procedure to plastromancy. She listened as the others had there time saying one of the steps. No one had said the most important one of all. "Refer to the book for the meanings of the cracks to make your reading." Not exactly the way she meant to word that. Maybe Cassie and the others understood what she was saying.

Sure it was a recap of the last class and Benny was aware of the topic. But it hadn't been the best lesson so he opted to listen to the others talk and discuss on what the professor was asking about. That way if he had missed something, or remembered something wrong for one reason or another, he could correct his notes or at least his viewpoint on the subject. It worked out well and he didn't seem too far off the mark in what he had and what he remembered.
However the sixth year didn't have much time to dwell on the matter because the lights in the room suddenly went out. "Wha--" he said perking up as he redundantly looked around in surprise, hearing the vague sounds of....something instead of being able to see anything in the darkness. He was about to cast a lumos to provide some light on the matter but the lights came back on soon enough.
Eden was OUTRAGED that Professor Morgan seemed to have forgotten the SNAP CUP. THE BEST PART OF CLASS, OKAY? It helped keep the Ravenclaw POSITIVE....until she heard the last one she read aloud.
And her very blue eyes drifted over to CUTTY MORDAUNT.
Eden knew that was his, and she KNEW it was about her. How bloody rude. She had half a mind to stand up and SMACK him right there, but she didn't. She glowered to herself and GLARED at the Slytherin before turning back to Professor Morgan.
Hmph.
I...and NOT a hag..he's the...horrible one...Merlin...stupid...STUPID....
And now, Eden McGee was having trouble focusing. She didn't eeven know what was going on in class-when the LIGHTS WENT OUT.
"LUMOS--" she said instantly, holding her wand aloft, shedding SOME light into the room. But the light came back on eventually, and Eden set her wand down....was that a hiss? Eden glanced around, squinting.
She didn't like this...not one BIT. "Professor...I most certainly do NOT feel safe right now..."
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Still trying to figure out what his and Angel's combined answer could be. Adi was just getting the words together and about to suggest an answer when... WHAAAAA? Why did it go dark?! And WHAT was that noise? "Lumos!'' The Hufflepuff echoed one of his classmates but that wasn't need. "Nox!''
Blinking furiously since the lights came back on abruptly and his eyes hurt from it, he looked around. Everything seemed okay. He hadn't looked that closely at Bob's playpen. Poor Bob.
Angel was scared, very scared, she was sure she could hear someone moving. She was nervous as well and she couldn't see a thing, seriously what was going on.
Angel wanted to say something but she decided to try and be a brave little lioness, that was what she was right being a Gryffindor student, she was a lioness and they were brave right.
Angel could feel her eyes starting to water, but she was still trying to hold everything back, she must not cry!! she must not cry.
Okay!!
Now where was Benny, as soon as the lights came back on she put her eyes on him, this wasn't some sort of joke right. "Professor, I don't feel safe!" Angel wanted to know how anyone could have got into the room when a lesson was fully going on.
Norah was adding a smile to her doodle of a turtle when all of a sudden it disappeared. Well, everything disappeared. What? WHAT? WHAAAAAAT? She looked around with wide eyes in search of something-ANYTHING really, except all there was was dark dark dark. This was bad news. The fourth year shut her eyes tight and willed the darkness to go away. She wished it so hard, okay? It was much too scary to even think about using lumos or anything at all because thinking when it was too dark was pretty much out of the question.
She opened one eye and looked around. Hey, look at that! Somebody HAD used lumor or something because there was some sort of light happening, but that didn't mean her hazel eyes got any less wide because light or not that funny sound she'd heard didn't get any less scary. Man, she should've stayed in bed today with the comfort of her cay-shaped nightlight that nobody was supposed to know about.
Otter This World ♡ Catpurrccino ♡ Slotherin ♡ Pandamonium
Things seemed to fall right into place once Professor Morgan paused and remembered she'd forgotten to read the parchments from the snap cup. Hady sipped her tea once again her eyes fixed on her lap as her 'proud moment' had been read aloud. Nothing wrong with learning to solve your own problems, it was a good thing and nothing to question.
Setting her cup beside her foot the third year went about taking down some notes as her classmates took to answering the next question. Halfway through writing her notes there was darkness. What the-?! Dropping her quill onto the desk Hady swiftly swept her gaze about the room. She couldn't see much of anything but she had heard that odd hissing sound. Surely this wasn't supposed to be happening.
The darkness didn't last long and the lights came back on. Blinking her eyes and looking around it didn't take long for her to notice Bob wasn't in his playpen. This wasn't good..this wasn't good at all.
<--- Random | Funfetti | Lima Bean | Slytherpuff | PURPLE | Hoarder of pens | ALWAYS Severus
One moment they were talking about mundane shell cracks and the next the lights were out. Most sane people were probably scared, but not AJ. Oh no, she was excited. Things were getting real again at Hogwarts. It was one of her favorite things about the ancient school.
For the second the lights were out, she closed her eyes and took everything in. If you panicked you would miss things, and AJ did NOT like missing things. Something fell. That could have been a scared student jumping and making their desk make a sound. More than likely it was her sister.
Was that a hiss? Some kind of noise was made.
When the light came back on she instinctively looked over to Bob's playpen. She had been so engrossed with him all lesson, that her eyes involuntarily looked over and...
"BOOOOOOOB!"
Was he the one that hissed? Did turtles even hiss? She had some many questions, but there was one thing she knew for sure...
They were going to have to make some 'find Bob' posters to go along with Pebbles.

Zhenya had forgotten her notes. She was looking through her bag, in her textbook, between other sheets of parchment, but they simply were not there. ARGH. She couldn't remember what the cracks meant, so she stayed silent to listen to everyone else give explanations as to what the cracks were. Well, they jogged her memory at least.
And now they were on to the steps of plastromancy. She remembered most of the steps; get a shell, write a name in it, crack the shell, then pour blood or oil in it. Or was it pour the blood or oil then crack?
She was trying to remember, when suddenly it went dark. Had she fallen asleep? No, it wasn't the darkness of sleep, it was the darkness of, well... dark. Her eyes were wide as they could go. There were noises. She was scared that the lights might suddenly go on and she could find herself staring at a giant spider!
NO
That wasn't going to happen. Because the lights went on, and there wasn't a spider there. Zhenya looked around with a frown on her face and saw what everyone else saw; Bob the turtle was missing. Her jaw dropped open as she looked, frozen, at the ball...

Beverly was amused, she was. Sometimes that snap cup had some funny things. Her eyes traveled around the room, a small smirk forming on her face. Okay, okay. Time to concentrate. Divination wasn't her strong suit after all so she had to pay extra attention. Damn it all.
Steps to plastromancy. Okaaaay.
Her fingers barely graced the spine of the textbook when--BOOM. DARK. She blinked, the hairs at the back of her neck raising. Her wand was in her hand faster than you could say snitch, and with a quiet Lumos she was able to see the people around her. Her senses shifted, her ears straining for sounds. There was hissing, but that could be from the animals Professor Morgan kept. Still, she wasn't letting her guard down--
...What the...
The lights turned on without a heads up, and with extra light around her, she started seeing dots. Almost like she did when Kennedy took a surprise picture with those ridiculous muggle camera contraptions.
What...just happened?
"It's okay, everyone. Just stay calm," she called out, calmly. So far...things were okay. Just...eyes open.

Her students were just so awesome! They really remembered what she had taught them the last few classes. It was a wonderful thing and she couldn't help but snap for all of them. Snaps for Adi, Tia, Angel, Lux, Toby, AJ, and Janelle, "All wonderful answ..."
"AHHHHHHH"
Maybe she shouldn't have screamed but it was pitch black in the room all of the sudden and it startled her! Moving her wand she pulled the lights back on. "Is everyone alright?" Quickly moving around the room she checked on all the students. Everyone seemed to be fine and accountable for, but what on earth was that. "It's okay Eden and Angel I think it was just a spell malfunction. We are all okay."
GASSSSPPPPPPP
Just as someone yelled his name Cassie turned towards the Playpen. "Alright, someone is very funny, but jokes over. Where is Bob?" She looked around the class at their faces. "This room was very well intruder free so it had to be someone in this classroom." She enjoyed a good joke, but this wasn't going to be funny long. "I can sense he's anxious and was put somewhere dark so he can't help me locate him."
She eyed them all, "Someone better start talking right now."

Zhenya gulped. Was it... was it seriously someone in the room? SOMEONE WAS A TUTRLENAPPER!
Zhenya's wide eyes and open mouth looked around, before she closed her mouth. No flies for her, thanks.
But seriously - BOB! Where was poor Bob? Alone in a dark area? Zhenya looked under her table and chairs, realising that was probably as useful as trying to tell Professor Cassie that it was okay. It wasn't okay, and it wasn't do dark under the table...
