Default Divination Lesson One

Now that classes are back in full swing and you have gotten use to the every day routines, why not relax a bit on a Friday morning? As you enter the Divination Tower you will see the room looks like a banquet hall. Long tables are set up with Professor Morgan's desk at the very front. The tables have all kinds of vegetables, cheeses, fruits, and sodas, as well as milk and water.

There is music playing, but not the calm relaxing music you are use to when it comes to entering the classroom. This time it is fun and upbeat tunes. Professor Cassie is humming to the music happily at the front of the classroom. Of course she is wearing her comfy clothes, since it is comfy clothes Friday!

There is a note on the board;

Quote:
Welcome! Come in, have a seat, and grab a plate. Enjoy the food before class begins. Don't forget to place your proud moment in the snapcup as well.

Lesson Progression:

Start of class
Question one
Discussion time
Practice and more discussion
Listen to each other's sounds
Sound meanings

Marigold had turned a bit pale, even after eating food, because stomach things GROSSED HER OUT. It was WEIRD. It was just one of those things. So she scrunched herself close together, arms crossed over her stomach, and raised her voice to be heard. "Gastromancy?" she asked. She had heard that word before somewhere.

Zhenya tried not to crack a smile as she looked Adi in the eye, siriusly, and said "No, just one." She waited a few seconds before her composure cracked and she giggled, offering more than one to Adi.

And now onto flatulence. Zhenya tried so hard to keep a straight face, but she was still a bit giggly from all the fun they had been having, and she felt her face involuntarily crack into a big grin, a giggle bubbling up. Honestly, she was SEVENTEEN! She should be more mature than this. But she actually wasn't.

She vaguely remembered something about it, and was a but annoyed at herself for not thinking about it in the first place. Not joining the dots. Food + divination = not a party. Well, a party maybe but not the answer Professor Cassie was looking for. The bit she did remember from the gas-divination, she decided she should say. She raised her hand and waited to be called on, "People used to listen to the gut sounds and interpret it as the dead talking to them," or something like that.

Noel was already on his feet and pulling Leah with him too. Deng it...he missed his chance to get closer to her.Hmm...well...he was not going to move away from his seat, that was final...but he felt bad not able to participate fully with the rest of the class. But he did raised his hand to answer the professor but he wasn't sure if she could hear him.

"They are very delicious food, thank you by the way, great way to have a great time with family and friends?"he shouted, hoping that his voice could be heard over the blaring music.

"Uhh...you're going to dance too?"he asked, turning to llia.

Ilia was glad that she sat next to Henric, as usual. When she saw everyone get up and start moving around though.......she choked back a giggle. Some people were moving in some pretty ridiculous ways to her and she felt more comfortable sitting and watching in this case. She sat next to Henric and lightly picked here and there at her food, only taking a bite or two. He almost sounded......nervous?....when he asked if she was going to dance too. "I kind of think watching is more fun right now." She grinned back at him. She liked to dance and could do so pretty well, but the other students were more entertaining. This was an awkward setting to dance in and she was just wearing jeans and a white sweater top.

She listened to the other student's answers and the teachers response. They....wait.....what!? Ilia wasn't the prissy girl around but.....that sounded gross. She had a feeling that she would NOT be enjoying this class and firmly decided that she would be sticking close to Henric.

Penelope sat down when Professor Cassie said that they should find their seats again. There was a kind of divination about stomach sounds? Fascinating. Apparently there were branches of divination for everything. However, she wasn't sure what this particular form of divination was called. Many other students seemed to agree that it was called gastromancy. Gastromancy would be a logical name for it because gastro meant that it had something to do with the stomach. So it probably was gastromancy. "Gastromancy, because gastro means relating to the stomach."

What was that second part of the question? Use it on somebody who has already passed on? "They used it on dead people?" Eeew. Why would anyone do that? And how could they hear dead people's stomach sounds if the people had been buried in the cemetery or had been dead for so long that they didn't have stomachs producing stomach noises? They weren't going to have to do that, right? Just on living people with the food that they were eating. Penelope turned her attention back to her food. She sipped her soda and nibbled on the food as she listened to what other people were saying. So, how could stomach sounds be used for divination? She was slightly skeptical that stomach sounds could tell you anything that would be useful for divination purposes.

Norah didn't even have time to get excited about spending a whole class talking about food because Professor Cassie had already moved on to another question she didn't know the answer to. How did people just KNOW things? She felt as if she never knew anything at all except for what Sebby had told her and he was only ELEVEN which now that she thought about it made this whole entire thing loads worse. Fourth years were supposed to be SMART. She'd have to get Sophie to teach her all the thing sometime because it was really getting lame to know less than everybody ever.

Sliding down in her seat until the bridge of her nose was level with the table, the fourteen year old put all of her grapes into her mouth until they bulged in her cheeks and made her look like a rather lumpy chipmunk. Somebody else could answer the question. Norah still didn't have an answer, alright? Nothing new here.

Henric inwardly sighed in relieve that llia said she wasn't going to dance too. If she did, he needed to be gentlemanly and asked her to dance with him, right? His dad thought him that he must.He was even more relief that the professor decided to cease the dancing and the music playing so they could continue with her lesson...yes..thank you, thank yoouu...professor Cassie! He made sure to pay her a visit one day.yup.

----------------

Henric continued listening to the professor talking about the dead and stuff. Interesting stuff, it was once believe they could talk to the undead by listening to the sound of a dead body would make? But didn't they have the ghosts and the moving talking portraits to talk to? It wasn't the same of course, they were talking to only memoirs.Hmm..right...back then..anyone believed anything they found out of the ordinary or superstitious.

Uhh....Gastro..what..Mancy? It was the first time he had heard of it, and he was surprised that a lot of the students knew of the answer.

"Yeaahhhh... I only brought a book," he noted, he hadn't cared enough to bring soda. Whoops? OH WELL.

The lesson was still a mystery.
Hady wore what she usually did when she was told to wear something comfy. Sweatpants and a t-shirt along with her sneakers. Simple, easy and comfortable. So she was good with that. "I have my book in my bag and well of course when given the okay to bring soda I did." She laughed pulling a can of Cherry Cola from her bag and setting it on the table. "I don't mind sharing with you if you like." So she was being nice and sharing soda...not like that was uncommon for her really especially seeing as there were cups on the table so it's not like they'd be drinking from the same can.

Having kept quiet while the snap cup things were read she snapped along like normal. However then they were being told to eat and then whoa...oh no.. did they have to 'dance'? She really didn't want to dance...didn't want anyone to know she could! Shifting slightly she glanced back at Zeke and shrugged placing a bit of cheese and some fruit onto her plate. Food was always good.

Dancing though she didn't know. However she rose to her feet and with another look towards Zeke ended up grinning at what he was doing. Raising her hand she gave the only answer that came to mind. "They give us energy?" It was true really whether it was fruits and milk or soda it gave you energy.

Now back to this moving about stuff...she was half tempted to ask Zeke to dance with her but she didn't simply chewing on her lip instead and not exactly moving much.

He should have known Hady would be more organised, and so long as she didn't mind he was happy to take her up on her soda offer. He watched her take it out of her bag, Cherry Cola, he wouldn't say no to that. "Sure, I'll just have a bit though."

... ....

It was a shame that Professor Cassie had misinterpreted what he was saying, he didn't mean they could EAT them, he meant they could TASTE then, as in, they had FLAVOURS... but alas... OH WELL.

Seemed he was bring up the wrong tree anyway.

As Professor Cassie continued talking though, he found it increasingly difficult to keep a straight face. GAS? They were going to be farting and things... in front of each other?

HAHAHAHAHA.. Ahem. Zeke smirked in an attempt to keep in the laughter.

GAS!!!!

He wasn't even going to attempt to answer her next question, because he had NO idea. None. Unless it was GASOMANCY. Was it?

So, this wasn't about the healthy food but the ones that could produce gas to your stomach. He just knew about that. He kept listening to the Professor Cassie as he munched his peach. Nom nom.

So, they're gonna learn about gut sounds? To be honest, it sounded gross. Especially when there's an older student burping. EEEEEWWWW!! It was totally gross... and impolite. He wasn't a person who often act with polite manners but still... Burping in front of many people and there's a Professor in it? Not good. The Korean guy couldn't help but shook his head. "Well uh.. does it related about listening to your gut when making decision?" He tried to answer.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Of course Yoongi had opened up his divination book before going to school in the hope of getting some kind of information. But whatever the Professor was asking what kind of form of Divination it would be if one would be leaning over a grave in a cemetery he had no idea. Graves, cemeteries, death were not really his cup of tea and he probably skipped that chapter. He did laugh a bit at a young Gryffindor’s question (Rusty).

Well, he had correctly answered the previous question so he decided to not answer this one because he had no clue. Instead, he stopped eating because the talk about the death and farts and stuff made him lose his appetite and grabbed his Divination notebook instead, ready to scribble down notes.

………………….Did someone just burp out loud? Yoongi turned his head in a Hufflepuff’s direction (Kace) and looked extremely disgusted.

Huhhh she didn't get snaps! Well, her answer WAS kind of bad. It was all because of Noel haha. She sat down again, rather reluctantly, pulling him along. Oh. The real answer was pretty unexpected - gassy food. Who would have guessed THAT? And then the music was off and the lights dimmed. Great, Leah liked dramatic settings.

"Gas something," she said with her hand raised. Listening to her classmates speaking up, she remembered the term. "Oh yeah, Gastromancy." After a pause, she continued, "Are dead people easier to work with?" It was a guess. She did not really want to think about it anymore.

*sappysapper* MAJNOO, YO!

Gassy food? THAT was the answer? Noel didn't appreciate it because things could get a little nasty in the classroom if everyone kept eating like this. THANKFULLY he hadn't tried anything yet thinking it had been just healthy food.

Noel let Leah pull him down and watched as the lights dim. Ohh theatrics.

Everyone else started giving the answer .. so there was no point repeating it. But he did ask: "Dead people have gas?"

No more moving? Boo. AJ took her seat and continued to popped the last of her food in her mouth. Now maybe should concentrate. Actually that wasn't likely. She was more in the mood for a nap now. Yawn.

But then her ears perked up, and suddenly the last thing she wanted was a nap. Farts, farts, farts. This was highly amusing and the lion didn't even try to hide her laugh. This was going to be one of the funniest lessons ever. She wondered how the girly girls in this class would be reacting. Yes, AJ was really a ten year old boy at heart.

It seemed like a huffie boy had the same idea as her, but she couldn't not ask. "Dead people can't fart... can they, professor?" Or were magical dead people different?

Hearing the second year Cassie beamed and gave her snaps, “Yes you are correct, it is Gastromancy. Back in time people did stand over graves and try to communicate. The sounds of the belly were considered the voice of the dead, but this changed many times over the years.” This was a very complex form, she hoped they would all understand it.

So... bodily noises it was. Adi removed his specs as the lights were dimmed and after a bit of racking his brains, he raised his hand. "Gastromancy. They use it on the dead because... um...those that have passed on, if the bodies were fresh enough, the bodies made the same sounds as the stomachs of the living and it was easier to listen to the dead?'' You know, the sound of the gasses moving around. Anyway, was Adi even making sense? He looked at Professor Cassie, frowning a bit. He wasn't sure he put that into the best explanation. Hey, at least he gave it a shot.
Looking towards Adi she gave him some snaps, “Very good you are correct, as the body just passes and the bodily functions do keep going. Gasses pass through, hair still grows, and nails keep getting longer. So I freshly deceased body would be better to do this form on then one that had been passed for some time.”

Also, she quite liked it when the professor clicked at her, and she didn't want to upset her AT ALL. Especially cause she thought this might just be her favourite class ever.

.......

Okay but really? Rowan had NEVER heard of food divination, not seriously... wizards were weird. Sounded cool though, and it meant she could eat, so she was down. She listened to what people were saying and tried to come up with a different answer - wasn't worth repeating what everyone else said. "Professor, does a person's ghost come out if they fart after they're dead?"

Yeah, that'd do it.
______________
When her green eyes fell on the first year, Rowan she couldn’t help but chuckle, that would be such a sight. Giving her snaps, “That is a great thought and you aren’t far off from what some thought when this first originated. Many were afraid of demons and curses that could haunt after a person’s death. So some believed this form could communicate and release those evils away from earth. Other’s believed that the dead could help them with the future, so finding the omen within. ” Always so interesting how things evolved if you looked at it. History was so fun!

The sixth year was sitting there listening to Cassie talk about what the lesson was going to be about today. She kind of couldn't help but to silently giggle to herself over the lesson. The ways they could divinate things. Cats, crystals, water and ton of other things. Weird and cool. Apparently using bodily sounds to tell the future. Cinna snorted at the baby lions (Rusty) answer she couldn't help it. It was too cute. She was never getting into Emmy's candy again. She raised her hand. "Gastromancy. It's used to find omens?" That was right. right? She wasn't sure how exactly the dead was going to tell omens but she felt that she was on the right track here.
“Correct, omens were a huge part of why Gastromancy became so popular in the 1600’s.” Cinnamon got snaps for her great answer.

Natalia had never heard of such a type of divination, but she did admit that it was rather creative. Whoever came up with stomach-growl-reading must have been very bored but very imaginative...Einstein? Hurhur.

"I have no idea what it's called, but I guess it makes sense to listen to someone's stomach after they're not living anymore..." It was difficult for Natalia to justify her answer logically; she just felt that no living person would allow another person to listen to their stomachs! How weird would that be? "I mean...it is very possible to fit a tiiiiny person in the stomach." So logically, the older civilization would have believed a person could be trapped in the stomach.
Giving Natalia snaps she nodded, “It does make sense and we have evolved, but if you think about even the muggle history back then, they thought all crazy things. This form of divination has been used both by muggles and wizards. “

It was pretty funny but Hayden would stop laughing because she had to at least pretend it was not funny. Hopefully that wouldn't be too hard.

Hayden had no idea what that kind of divination would be called. One girl gave a very logical answer. Gastromancy. Alright that made sense. But why would they want to use that? Who would think there was any logical sense in that? Hayden did have one idea, so she raised her hand.

"Maybe they thought that after people were dead their farts were actually messages in morse code." Maybe the dead could communicate about life was like after death, but they could only communicate through farts. HAHAHAHA. Nope not funny at all.
She really wasn’t trying to be a immature child, but even at 35 she couldn’t help a small giggle at Hayden’s fart answer. “Well it’s more then just farts. Bodily noises can be gurgles throughout the stomach, have you ever felt a gas bubble in your chest? The noises don’t have to be coming fully out of your bottom or mouth to be used in Gastromancy.” Hayden certainly got snaps for her answer though.

She HAD read about this last term though, while studying for her OWLs.

Raising her hand, Lux took a shot at answering the question. "This form of Divination is called Gastromancy. Maybe it's used as a method of communicating with the dead? Because maybe if the body is fresh enough, it still makes bodily noises?" Ehhh, that was as good a guess as any.
Giving Lux snaps, Cassie nodded, “If the body is fresh enough the gasses are still moving around. Though back in the 1600’s people tried this form on graves that had been sitting for years. People get desperate when they want to communicate with loved ones and this was a way for some to do it. Though it really wasn’t the reason for Gastromancy.”

Looking to Angel Cassie gave a nod, “It is voices in the belly or so people said back then. We know now that it is gasses not actual voices. Ventriloquist is different, but many people that don’t believe in Divination started saying that Gastromancy was nothing more then them tricking the community or the grieving loved ones.” Always someone to try and say her profession was a fake, but haters would hate. He smiled and said, "I will get back to you on that one.." Then he went back to his seat and thought about it. How in the bloody merlin did food have to do with Divination? I mean he couldn't think of any ideas. He heard her addressing the class. Woaaahhh she picked gassier food!? Umm....Professor Cassie do you know what you are up against? No wonder he felt his stomach bubbling.

When he heard he could burp. Kace grinned gleefully like a kid in a toy store. Don't mind I do. He was already feeling one coming on. He did a little...

"BBUURRRRPPPPPP...." and he turned around and it felt awkward but relieving at the same time. He might as well be polite, "Excuse me.." he said and couldn't help but hold back a chuckle.

This lesson was getting better and better. Props to you Professor Cassie. Props to you. He heard the term was Gastromancy because that sounded legit. He had no idea why they would use it. Kace was gonna give an answer coming out of his butt, "Professor I think they communicate using bodily functions like burping or farting because it is simple like code I guess. It is something the spirits understand. I mean they can't really speak because it is delayed but I guess simple sounds are easier to imitate to the person." That was his guess.
Oh and look someone had already started, “Very good Kace, we will talk a little later on burping, but nice to show the class the sound.” She gave him snapped not at all offended that he had just burped in class. “The noises are some what like codes, which we will talk more about later. Depending on the sound and on the number of sounds would mean different things.” Very good observation from the seventh year.

As she nibbled on some of the food on her plate, Professor Cassie asked them to get up and move around. Um… Food… Dancing… Foood… Daaancing… With a smile, she popped some more berries into her mouth and then stood up to join Rusty in dancing. She really didn’t have any good ideas for why they were eating these foods specifically, so she didn’t say anything simply listened to the others opinions and suggestions.

However, when Professor Cassie told them to sit down again, she did so with a big grin as she continued eating the yummy food on her plate. And Pepsi! In glass! How awesome was this?

Gastronomy… Hmm. Interesting.

Hand raise. ”Oh, is it not also due to the fact that when people die, their bodies are still processing the food and drink that we have eaten in the previous day? But in the 17th century, it wasn’t likely that they would know that science agreed with that - so they probably assumed it was a ghost or a demon or something.” She paused and frowned slightly. ”I think, they were paranoid about people sneezing too… Is that not where the term ‘Bless you’ comes from? They thought it would stop their souls leaving their bodies... “ Right?

Was she just rambling now? Probably. She should maybe just keep eating and listen instead of babbling
Looking to the first year, Cassie snapped happily, “Yes, very good. The body is still digesting even though the heart and brain has stopped. This goes with hair and nails as well. Muggles fearful of the diseases that took many and the unknown did start that saying for soul purposes. Very good.” Such bright student, she just adored teaching them.

Cassie turned to Zhenya next and gave her snaps, “Yes, people would listen to the sounds to interpret what the dead were saying. It has evolved to use on living as well now, but we will get to that in just a bit.” She didn’t want to get ahead of herself.

“Very good Penelope. It is Gastromancy because of the stomach.” She was getting snaps for her great answer, but she always got a little chuckle with the question. “It is sometimes, we do use it on living as well now a days.” Again they would touch on that in a moment.

She liked the next answer, “Some say that is where that saying came from, especially as Gastromancy evolved to not only be about the dead. “ She certainly gave him snaps, what a great thought to use for his answer.

"Gas something," she said with her hand raised. Listening to her classmates speaking up, she remembered the term. "Oh yeah, Gastromancy." After a pause, she continued, "Are dead people easier to work with?" It was a guess. She did not really want to think about it anymore.
Leah had an interesting question and she gave her snaps, “Some would certainly say they are easier to work with, I’d prefer to work with the living though. That’s just me really.” She wasn’t that big of a fan of darker Divination, so using dead people’s bodies wasn’t her cup of tea.

Everyone else started giving the answer .. so there was no point repeating it. But he did ask: "Dead people have gas?"
Oh these students, they were so much fun. She gave Noel a smile and a little chuckle along with snaps. “Yes they do for a little while. The body is still releasing the gasses after the person has passed, so the stomach noises would certainly still be there.”

She thought this argument would be the argument that would start and she tried her best not to fully laugh. She could be immature too, it happened. “Well in a way, yes, bodies do pass gas after they have passed on. The gasses in your body release along with other bodily functions.” as gross as it was it was true.

Swooshing her wand towards the board behind her desk, the word Gastromancy formed. “Wonderful answers everyone. Gastromancy is what we will be studying today. I’d like to start with what some would call the darker side to it. It was related to dark magic at one time, because people felt communicating with the dead through their bodies was something that should be left alone. “ With that she walked away from her desk with a grin on her face, “Please stand up and back away from the desks for a moment.” Watching them all she waited for all to be standing before she moved her wand changing the room to be charmed as if they were standing in the middle of a cemetery. Tapping herself with her wand her comfy clothes transfigured into a black dress, Nessa wasn’t the only one that could put on a performance, hehe, Cassie was sure to learn some tricks from her best friend.

“Now imagine we are in 1625. People used Gastromancy to speak with the dead. Some felt it was to cast the demons and curses away, while others wanted and omen, basically they wanted to know what their future would be without that person. If disease took them the spouse was trying to make sure the same disease wouldn’t come over the rest of the family. If it was a killing, the spouse was most likely trying to find out who did it. There were many different reasons for doing this, but always the same outcomes.” She walked closer to a tombstone and then turned to face the class once more.

“Now I do have a few things for you to think about. The first is, people are buried six feet below ground. How could anyone hear the stomach noises from that far down? The second thing is what is the different noises that could happen and what do you think they would mean?” She paused a moment to let them think about this. Without warning she started to sniffle and pretend cry, dramatics were super fun! “Oh goodness me, it’s 1625 and my husband has just died a horrible death from disease.” She sniffled again, “Please help me, how can I find out if I am going to have the same fate? “ She tried to stay in character, but Nessa was better, she couldn’t help but grin. “If you were the Diviner going to do this, what steps would you do to get the answers I’m looking for? Take a few minutes and discuss this with each other.” She couldn’t wait to hear their steps and responses; this was so fun minus the creepy graveyard.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

So Gastromancy was believed to be dark magic at one point of time because people thought that communicating with the dead was …bad. Well, they communicated with the ghosts right? And they weren’t evil. Atleast he thought not.

After scribbling down some useful notes, Yoongi got up from his chair as the Professor told them to and watched as she changed her clothes to a black dress with a tap of her wand. Then the classroom changed and not in the good way. A second later, they were in a cemetery and if there was one thing that Yoongi did not like apart from…dead bodies and gore and sadness and stuff. Was everything combinated in a cemetery.

Looking around as if a grave would pop open and a zombie would crawl out, Yoongi followed the Professor to a tombstone. All the while he stayed close to someone, ready to grab the person’s arm if things got too scary. And no, he did not care if it was a first year. If something happened he was outta here. Possibly even screaming in fear.

‘Focus on the questions Yoongi, you’ll be fine’ he told himself. “Well, first of all I would get the hell out of here, go to a healer and put on protection spells in case the thing that got your husband gets to you” whaaaat? He wanted to get out of here! T___T

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Adi popped another one of the berries Zhenya had offered him and chewed thoughtfully. Look at that. His answer had been sort of a guess but he had happened to be on the right track. Also, the nail and stuff growing even AFTER someone died? Cool! No, wait... it was beyond FASCINATING! And that burp from Kace... LOL! Better out than in, eh?

Cramming another berry in his mouth, Adi jumped up again, holding his hand out to Zhenya to help her up before moving away from the desks. WOAAAH! It was a GRAVEYARD! SUPER cool, yo! But where was the Grim Reaper? LOL! It was the subject of a future tattoo that he was going to have. Now to picture 1625... how exactly did that look? Adi supposed everything would be ancient; old looking.

Hmmm. Interesting questions. The Huffie took a moment to consider them before casting a look at the Slytherin girl beside him. "Maybe to the seeker or the person who wanted to do a reading, the gases sound louder to them alone,'' was the suggestion from him. "Um, um, how about a really loud wail like Kace's burp signalling something really dangerous?'' That was TOTALLLLLY wild guess there. Adi replayed Professor Cassie's little enactment in his head before continuing. "I think the steps would be to find a body fresh enough to head the gasses, clear the mind and then ask the question you want answers to before listening to the sounds and interpreting them.'' Clearing the mind was vital, was it not? Adi glanced towards the Professor and repeated what he had said to Zhenya earlier so that she could hear it this time, his hand up.

When a loud BUUUUURP punctuated the classroom, Lux had to LOL. Of course it would be Kace to start off the lesson for everyone. Smiling, she gave her friend a thumbs up because wow that had been a loud one. And nope, this wasn't sarcasm either.

Hmmm, so she was right about people being desperate to communicate with dead loved ones, but that wasn't the reason for this form of Divination. Honestly she couldn't remember what she had read about it because she was too busy wondering what farting and burping had to do with telling the future. Lux had a feeling that this would be an interesting lesson and she WAS curious to see where this would go.

After cramming a few food items into her mouth and hands (table manners were out the window after all), Lux stepped away from the desks... and into a cemetery. Obviously it wasn't REALLY a cemetery, but wow did it look legit. As she listened to Professor Cassie, she looked around at the different tombstones. There had been a time where she might have been scared in case ghosts came, but now she was older and not scared of ghosts anymore.

Some great questions were raised, and props to Professor Cassie for pulling a Glendower move with the dramatics. Theatre was a lot of fun even though her only experience with it so far had been in the History of Magic classroom. This wasn't the time to dwell on that stuff, though. Biting her lip, Lux became thoughtful as she tried to work out answers to the questions.

Clearly she wasn't good at this stuff, because she was stumped.

The blonde turned her head when she heard her boyfriend burp REALLY, REALLY loud! The sixth year covered her mouth and giggled. That was funny but she was pretty sure that wasn't what this lesson would be about at all. Actually she had no idea what it was that they would be doing. Emmylou happily listened to Professor Morgan and stood up. Where were they going? Or were they going to be doing some type of exercise.

Oooooh. Oh? A cemetery? Spooky.

So they were going to speak with the dead? Like people that are buried six feet in the ground and like all bones now? But who was there to speak to? Have witches and wizards always done this and would Emmylou be able to speak to her dead dog or just see him? The sixth year raised her hand. "Excuse me? Professor? Would this work on a pet that passes away?" She questioned and then began to continue. "I mean I know that dogs or anything can't talk to us but would it be possible to maybe just see them again?" That would make Emmylou happy, to see her favorite dog in the flesh or would it be in ghost form? She was excited and confused.

A ship in harbor is safe — but that is not what ships are built for.

This... gastromancy sounded so... sketchy to Natalia. How would a dead person's stomach give any information of the future? Crystal balls, tarot cards, and stars even... they have some basis of belief (because Natalia personality thought that the predictions from these methods were rather accurate). But..listening to dead stomachs! Does that even work?

Sketchy.

Oh Merlin, so they were actually trying to mimic the situation, huh? Authentic location, time, and story line! How interesting...if this was a theater class.

"Well, I suppose since we're wizards, we always have some kind of spell to amplify sounds." Natalia tried to think of the actual spell that could magnify sounds. "Would sonorous work?' She already knew that the incantation would work on human voices but was uncertain whether it applied to...stomach noises.

What, did the professor just start...acting? Well, the acting was rather decent. To Natalia though, knowing that this was a performance aimed at personifying the situation, she couldn't help but let out a very quiet chuckle.

Natalia never had any obvious clairvoyant abilities. She would have absolutely no idea how she would interpret all the different gastric sounds. Frankly, if Natalia heard noises from the stomachs of the dead, she would be very, very scared. For this part of the question, Natalia remained silent as she had nothing useful to contribute to the class.

What in the world was going on? Izzy stood from her desk and watched as they cleared and the graveyard scene appeared.. what was happening. was it a funeral of someone whose died?!? In class!? She watched the professor curiously as she began to.... cry................... it was her husband!? "what?" she whispered lowly. Professor Cassie was just smiling though and the girl was never more confused in her who life. Especially when she turned to them and smiled again.... "wouldn't a wife be too distraught to sit and listen to anything?" She was clearly thinking way too into this death thing and it was going to be the death of her for sure.

...what was going on? Eden one minute was EATING, then standing, then.......the room was a cemetery. O_____o WHAT? She didn't like this much...it felt eerie and weird and she knew her mother wouldn't like this at ALL. Irene McGee was not about that cemetery life. NOPE TO THE NOPE.

So Eden just glanced at all the tomb stones..and then to Professor Morgan..and widened her eyes. This class was hard. Her brain just wasn't thinking of things correctly. It was probably all the food. Eden just loved food so much ;__;

"Um...well..I wouldn't recommend digging up the body. That's always a bad idea." All horror books/movies had taught her THAT. "Um...wouldn't you just...eat food...stand near the grave and..see what your stomach did? The noises would be the dead person speaking through you?" Literally, that was what Eden had come up with. She had no idea if this was right or not.

Rowan looked around the classroom - THAT WAS NOW A GRAVEYARD HOW COOL WAS THAT - and stared at the scene before her with wide, excited eyes. "This is so cool..." she said quietly, grinning at the stuff that was happening.

...

OKAY QUESTIONS

What would the first step be to divining from a dead body??

"Oh, oh, Professor we learned a charm to shoot things into the air so you could use a charm that brought the body to the surface but probably less dramatic than the ascendare spell cause you have to be respectful of the dead." she said, nodding at the end of the sentence to prove her point.

Ahhhh, well. WELL. That was close enough, see? And Toby still got snaps, even though the first part of his answer was wrong. He grinned at Professor Cassie, quite satisfied with the praise he had earned.

Oh, okay. Now they really WERE going to find out what was meant by the 'darker' side, and Toby really did pay extra super attention now. Oh... 'cause... it had to do with dead people. That kind of made sense, yeah.

At the prompting, Toby got up from his seat and moved back with everyone else, in time to see the classroom change more or less into a... a... graveyard. No no. No thank you. Toby wasn't too sure about this. Buuuut... he wouldn't make any judgements. He'd stick with it, yes okay.

Oh, oh, oH. This was like a MYSTERY. Toby had some suggestions.

"How about a STETHOSCOPE?" he piped up. Boy, that was almost as hard to say as it was to spell. "That's used on bodies. Usually alive ones, though. And without six feet of earth in the way." Um. Hm. "Maybe we should go graverobbing."

Who was that burping so loud? Henric turned to the sound and it was not surprising that it was dear old Kace.He chuckled lightly as if it was expected of him to do just that....-.-...

They were told to stand up and moved to the side, so he did. Henric was amazed how the scenery slowly transformed itself by magic,of course, from a banquet hall to a now grimmer, eerie looking setting! Woah...the classroom has turned into a cemetery?! He felt goosebumps all over his arms and neck. Henric wasn't too fond of the supernatural, a nagging sense of fear occured, what if a dementor suddenly came out from nowhere and sucked the living out of him!
