Lux continued to take note of everything that Professor Cassie was saying as she cast her gaze at the different graves. They all seemed just about the same to her so really it probably didn't matter which one she chose. Heading to one at random, she stood over it and looked down. Wow, it was good that this sort of thing didn't freak her out because some people were scared of cemeteries. Pointing her wand downwards, she tried the spell out. "Sonorus!" Did it work? Curiously she placed her head near the ground and tried to hear something. |
plays game of catch up because I am a huge nerd bagel It was all making sense now. Before, Ophelia didn't know head or tails of this gasto- gaso- gas something. However, after hearing it explained a couple of times, it was starting to click. So gas for your tummy and the -mancy because when you put -mancy at the end of something, it made it seem more mysterious and magical. Basically, they were going to do tummy magic, and while that was a weird concept, it was better than tea leaves or crystal balls or all of that jazz. Wait, did the term 'gas' for flatulence come from gastrointestinal, or whatever their professor said before? Wasn't gas just your tummies way of saying it wasn't happy about something? Like when she was hungry and her tummy started growling. Or when she had to go to the bathroom. Or when she ate something weird and her stomach was having a hissy fit. She wanted to ask, but the etiquette she was taught from her parents prohibited her from doing so in the middle of class. So the thirteen year old sucked up her curiosity and waited until the end. And another question came up. Wow, she usually wasn't this alert and aware in Divination. It was a strange, strange day for the youngest Clarke child. But the question was, 'how did the dead person respond?' Did they make tummy noises back? Did graveyards in the magical world all just sound like a really gross recording a twelve year old boy would play? Or did the person feel their tummy rumble out an answer. This was important. And so, for the first time in forever....... RAISE HAND. "Professor, how exactly did the communication between the dead and living work in this situation? Did the living person ask and then heard a dead person stomach rumble, or did the magic make THEIR stomach rumble the answer?" Important question was important. And at least she was asking questions this time instead of getting frustrated with the lack of results in her work. There was so much good information here, Ophelia would have to take notes later. She was getting really into her schoolwork apparently, lately, asking questions in class, answering questions the Professor had asked, it was strange. But not completely horrible. The thirteen year old spent the entire summer acting out, and now that she was back in Hogwarts, learning was the perfect distraction to all of the problems she might face. And if that meant that she had to throw herself into her books, then so be it. Ophelia walked over to the nearest grave and pointed her wand at the ground. Okay, she could do this. It was one simple spell and she was a thirteen year old child. It wasn't like she was dumb enough to point her wand at her face or anything, so this should be a piece of cake. Merlin's beard, now she was hungry for cake! "Sonorous!" And after she cast the spell, the small girl listened to the ground, wondering what kinds of noises it was supposed to make. Rumbling? Sneaking sounds? Dead people sounds? Well, what did dead people sound like? She refused to think about that question or topic anymore. It was reminding her of THAT, and that was not allowed to be thought about. Ophelia had herself on restriction so she couldn't get sad or angry or anything. She was a teenager now, heck, an adult in some cultures and adults didn't get sad. Taking a deep breath in, she decided to focus on the sounds of and beneath the earth instead, hoping one would stand out as dominant among the many. It seemed like a much softer approach, and it was an approach that would help her pick out anything strange without thinking of the dead that made it. Good plan. A+ planning to Ophelia. |
Seriously? Are there real dead people underneath them? Ethan thought that the place was just charmed? The Slytherin looked around him, and the place did look like a real graveyard. He was thankful, however, that the place didn’t resemble the resting place of his mother. That did help him keep his composure, and convince himself that they were just doing some exercise. Ethan got his wand out, and repeated the incantation under his breath. “Sonorus.” Shouldn’t be hard at all. He knows how the spell works, seeing the Headmistress use it every Start and End of Term Feast. This time however, he’d use it to amplify something else. Like…the worms and all the things that were crawling beneath their feet. The Slytherin chose a grave away from where most of the other students were, and read the poorly etched name on the marker. “Greetings Mr. Gibson.” He said as he pointed his wand where Mr. Gibson’s belly should be, and casted the spell on the particular spot of grass. “Sonorus.” Hmm. Crouching, he listened if he could hear…well, any noise? He wasn’t sure what he should be hearing after all. “So, tell me things, Mr. Gibson…” he said waiting for a…well, response. |
Adi was on a roll, yo! Admittedly, he was blindly pouring out information but he was doing this only after careful thought. Anywayyyy, he followed Zhenya as she took off. "Don't you think being connected or related to the dead would make the readings easier?'' he asked her, wondering what she thought about that. But now he was now standing over a grave. Still no grim reaper around? Hehe. Don't ask why he was so fascinated with the thing... he just knew it started during his fourth year. As Zhenya helped some students out, Adi got started on his own practice. "Sonorus!'' He pronounced the incantation loudly and clearly while directing his wand at the ground. Sooooo... uh... was he supposed to be hearing things now? The Puffer tilted his head to the left side, trying to hear anything. Nope, nothing. "Sonorus!'' HelllOOOOOoooooOOOo?! He was waiting to hear things! |
SPOILER!!: Echo Zhenya smiled at Echo. Now that she heard someone say it out loud, it sounded like SNORE… this class was never boring though. Not for her, anyway. Zhenya nodded, but was a bit puzzled herself about what the target was exactly. Zhenya almost wanted to hug Echo, she understood how it would be freaky being in a graveyard trying to hear the dead. She wanted to say no and shake her head but she wasn't really sure. "I don't think there are. I mean… we're not really in a graveyard it just looks… freakishly like we are." Zhenya really hoped her words were right. Gulp. "If you're a bit nervous you could try practicing just the incantation until it feels natural. Then try it on the ground. Even if there are bodies under there, you're not alone here." Besides, would Professor Cassie really get them practicing on corpses? She hoped not. Zhenya tried again, partly so that Echo could watch if she wanted to. "Sonorus," she said confidently, outwardly anyway, pointing directly underneath her. SPOILER!!: Adi!!! Zhenya was frowning, because the dirt was NOT talkin'. No worms no bugs no nothing. Especially no farts or burps. She was still trying to hear when Adi spoke. She got an image of something and started laughing. Her tummy was hurting! "What you mean if you're already familiar with their gut sounds?" she laughed again. "I'd probably recognise my Uncle Archer's farts." More laughing. She was sure that wasn't what he meant, so when the laughing had stopped she said "I'm not sure. It makes sense that it would I guess… being familiar and already having a connection with them." That was a good question! |
Angel didn't really like this form of Divination, couldn't they have tried something else, it would have been a lot less scary than this, but well since they were doing this... she decided that she would at least try and do this. "Sonorus!" Angel practiced saying the incantation. "Sonorus!" Angel said the incantation again. "Sonorus!" Angel was sure that she had this down, it was so much fun saying this, she then practiced the wand movement... was she supposed to give it a try yet, she decided to wait and see what the Professor said. |
This had to be the craziest and cookies lesson EVER in his history at Hogwarts. Just what even? He was RIGHT-ish about the bubbling sounds? HILARIOUS... he hoped HIS tummy wasn't bubbling, it didn't feel like it. After everything was said and done, figuratively speaking, he exchanged a look with Hady. Were they seriously about to cast sonorus at the ground to see if they could hear gassy noises from corpses? OKAY. Shrugging to himself, Zeke did as instructed, wand in hand, aimed at the ground of a headstone, he recited the incarnation. "Sonorus." ... .... Did it work? He bent a little lower so as to hear better, but... nothing. DEAD quiet. Or... wait, WAS that something? He listened a little closely before realising he was hearing others around him. Fail. Could he get away with pretending to hear something? It couldn't be much different to pretending to see something. |
I have no control over this little fart rant. >.< SPOILER!!: Cassie The best kind of bodily noises were farts if you asked her. They were all unique and could make her laugh no matter what kind of day she was having. Some people had a gift and could make your stomach roll with just one whiff. The professor was explaining why farts wouldn't work, but wait...Exactly! Every living person had gas inside them moving around. Gas=farts. Farts=gas. Sounded like fart divination would work to her. AJ knew all too well that what you ate greatly factored into to the score you would get on a fart scale. Greasy foods get her belly in an uproar. After that her farts have to fight to get a place in line for that sweet, sweet release. SPOILER!!: Zahra, bahahaha The older lion who was known for being zany caught her attention with all of her laughing. AJ thought Zahra was pretty cool because she was different, weird, and everything that AJ was. There weren't too many people like that and finding these qualities in girls was even harder. Fart talk got Zahra's attention and AJ could dig it. The girl had a point... AJ bet that the ancient people's fart were legit. Peel your skin off kind of legit. In a sick sort of way AJ was curious. "Wonder if we can get one of these old dudes to fart," she said as she pointed to the nearest grave. Wouldn't they be defying odds by getting that to happen though? A fart that was trapped in the 1600's was going to take some work. Maybe they needed to fart and get everybody in the mood. It worked with tea and getting the mind settled. They were supposed to be practicing a spell, right? What was it again? AJ was so involved in her little fart rant that she had forgotten what else she was supposed to do. Whoops. |
D'awwww Zhenya!!! <3 Quote:
"So-no-rus......so-no-rus.." it seemed like a silly word but she knew it was important to learn. she kept practicing while standing next to her comfort zone. |
This was sooooo fun! Watching them start to practice and really acting like they were going to hear something. They did remember it was a charmed classroom, right? What great little performers they were. As they began to practice she started walking around the room. Her eyes fell on the ones still discussing. SPOILER!!: answers of ones still commenting SPOILER!!: Toby As she watched all the students practicing their charm, she heard Toby speak up and ask a question. Checking her watch it was like he already knew it was time to move on. “Well I’m super glad you asked that. While I don’t feel stethoscopes would work for six feet under, they will certainly work for what we are going to be doing next.” She moved back to the front of the room or well cemetery. “Alright everyone, eyes up here for a moment. You all have done so well with the discussion and the practice, but I’ve let your own bodies digest the food long enough. So please just stay still for a moment.” She flicked her wand and the cemetery was gone. The classroom well lit again seemed to be back in order. “No need to sit you will be getting with a partner for this. Anyone without a partner can work as a group of three or you are welcome to let me know and I can work with you.” She wasn’t worried about being embarrassed in her own lesson. Popping another piece of cheese in her mouth before walking over to a small table in the corner with a basket on it. “Toby just asked me if we could use stethoscopes now, this is the perfect time to use them. I taught you the Sonorus charm, so you are welcome to use that or if you don’t feel you are ready I have these stethoscopes to use.” Now were they ready for the fun? Yes of course they were! “Once you have paired up with your partner, you will listen to each others stomach, again with the charm or the stethoscopes. You are going to want a piece of parchment and quill with you for this. I would like you to write down everything you hear, any noises that the stomach produces, even if the gas comes out, write it down. I’m going to give you ten minutes to do this with each other before we will come back together and figure out what it all means. You may get started and of course help yourself to more of the food if you like.” She didn’t mind if they ate as long as they were working. Okay everyone just as Cassie said get with a partner, if you need to be with three you can, if you can’t find a student and need me we are here to help! I want you to have as much fun with this as you want and I feel putting an exact post number on it sometimes pulls away from the fun. So please have fun, enjoy, and remember I’m around if you need anything. You have until Saturday night on or around 9 p.m. EST to do this part. |
for Jess/ Zhenya! <3 Oh! It seemed Professor Cassie had overheard Adi asking Zhenya what she thought about the question so he smiled broadly at the short lady. "Thanks for that clarification, Professor!'' Did that mean that Adi would have a difficult time hearing the dead here? Farts or not? Hmmm. .................... The Hufflepuff looked up after failing to hear anything from the grave beneath him. Did that mean the spell had not worked? O_O Not much time to wonder about that because Professor Cassie was talking again. Stay STILL? WHAT? Did she know how CHALLENGING that would be for Hufflepuffs? LOL. Even as he was standing over the grave, he was shifting from one foot to the other. Oh wait. There was no more grave there... that and all the other graves were gone. HMPH. BRING BACK THE GRAVEYARD! But partners! Yes! Adi looked in Zhenya's direction. "Want to be my partner?'' Pleaseee say yes. "Do you think we should use the charm or stethoscopes? I want to try the charm first actually.'' Because Adi wanted to ensure that the was not rusty at the spell, yo! The stethoscope would act as a back up if that were the case. He shuffled back to his belongings to grab parchment and quills, popping more cheese into his mouth as he did so. Whenever Zhenya was ready! If she agreed to be his partner. Hehe. But he figured she would say yes. |
Need a partner? Cinna was really enjoying this class. It was pretty interesting. The Gryffindor keep walking around looking at the grave markers and practicing the spell. She turned around and headed back to the group. She didn't realize that she had wondered off that far. She stood still and the cemetery disappeared. Aww. Okay so now they were back in the classroom. She was about to sit down. Or not. So now they were going to have to start looking for partners. And they could use stethoscopes. Well that was a lot easier right? And she could act like a muggle doctor. Her brown eyes looked around. "Does anyone want to partner with me?" Now it was only a waiting game now. Oh joy. |

And right away, her mind went back to him. Of course it did. The main question in her head was if she would be able to do this and get a response. It was crazy, and the thirteen year old didn't believe a word, but still. She would have to consult the textbook on this. WOW. She was actually going to read a Divination textbook. The third year must have been really desperate, or just really bored. Divination wasn't her thing. Anyway, find a partner and use the muggle listening devices to listen to each others stomach. Okay, that was do-able. Hearing someone yell, Ophelia walked over and smiled. She needed a partner and the other girl needed a partner. It worked out. "Hey. I can be your partner, I guess. I'm Ophelia." |

....which was kind of hilarious. If Zahra did have a fart in her (NONE YET. STANDBY!), she'd save it for him. She shot him a GRIN and meandered closer his way. Quote:
Hum. -- Partners smartners. Zahra wanted to listen to everyone's bellies. And the stones. And her shoes. And that tree over there. BUT FIRST... she was going to listen to her OWN belly. So, Zahra lifted up her comfortable Gryffindor T-shirt, popped the ends of the stethoscope in her ears, and began to LISTEN. "WE'VE GOT...oh man I'm loud... hahahaha.... I HEAR BUBBLES. DEFINITELY SOMETHING BREWING IN THERE." Zahra moved the stethoscope around her own tummy, listening to varying degrees of BUBBLES. |

Oh there was Kace and a younger Ravenclaw both wanting to partner up. The gryffindor looked from one to the other. Hmmm. And here she was worried about finding a partner. She had two. Now that she had two she was more concerned with who Emmy was going to partner up with. "Mmmmm. Maybe Emmy can join us and the four of us can work together?" Yes? That was a good option. No conflict. She didn't like conflict. She turned to the younger girl. "We can partner up. I'm Cinna." Smiling to the younger Ravenclaw. See Cinna could be nice to other people besides her people. Kace wouldn't mind right? Anyway. She would hate to have to read something in the Aparecium about her and Kace. Gross that was Emmys boyfriend and her friend. And eww no. No offense Kace. She had Bart and was happy with that. |
*needs a partner* Failing to hear anything from the ground, Lux was stumped. Did that mean the spell didn't work? Ehhh, she would find out soon enough because now it was time for partner work. This class was pretty interesting so far, and she wondered what noises would be heard and what they would mean. First she would need a partner... "Does anyone want to work with me?" she asked while smiling. |
Lux! It looked like Natalia had to find a partner and start experimenting gastromany on each other's stomachs! Natalia was so glad that she didn't have to maintain that awkward position on all fours. More importantly, she didn't have be sprawled on top of a grave, regardless if it was real or not. Hmm, was there anyone out that that needed a partner? Natalia wasn't sure, seeing that so many people were scattered around the area. Recognizing no one familiar in sight, Natalia scuttled around, silently at first, seeking for a lone moose like her. "Anybody?" Natalia spoke up; the question was, however, mostly for herself. If someone heard it and chose to be partner up with her, great. Natalia normally didn't have any preferences for partners. Except in this activity, in which a more hungry stomach would be more desirable, since the noises of a hungry stomach were easier to detect, right? Oh wait, there was Lux! "Hey Lux!" Natalia greeted the Hufflepuff. "Let's be partners!" |
need a partner! This was so silly. And Rowan loved it! She loved that there were so many ways to do divination, and she'd tried so few! It meant she had lots to try out ahead of her. When she heard the teacher call to them she stopped practicing the spell - which so far had turned up no results - and listened... Right. Partner. She looked around the room with her best 'pick me' face on, whilst mentally thanking professor Cassie for the stethoscope option. She wasn't sure she'd be able to master the spell quite yet. "Anyone wanna pair up??" |
Quote:
"Hey, partner!" Time for them to get started and hopefully her stomach wouldn't be making too many gross noises. She just couldn't burp like Kace, and that wasn't something that made her sad. At least she had eaten her fill so she wasn't hungry with a rumbling stomach. "So you want to use the charm, or the stethescope?" Lux was fine with either one and wanted to leave the decision to Nat. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Cassie OOH 2 points! Zhenya beamed at Professor Cassie, putting her in a GREAT mood! As well as confirming her didn't think regarding corpses being there, to definite NO. That was a relief. But she hadn't realised she could have heard what was going on down in the sixth floor! COOOLLL! She listened as Professor Cassie explained the next task, turning the room back into the classroom. Partner time! SPOILER!!: Adi! Just as she was looking around to see if Adi was still there, he asked about partners. "Of course," she said happily. YAY PARTNER! Team HuffleRin! Team SlytherPuff! Charm or stethoscope? Well, considering they were both in their more senior years she was sure the Charm would be the way to go, but Adi had already suggested it. "Yeah I think I'd like to try the charm," she agreed, following to get some parchment, her quill and more food. Mmmmmmm cheese and berries. "Want to go first?" she asked, not at all embarrassed. |
Emmy says Kace is hers. XD Quote:

It was that time in class just like in all classes where everyone had to find a partner and Emmylou already had a partner in mind. The sixth year looked around for a partner. She stood on her tip toes to get a good look but that turned out bad, instead she started to jump up and down. That's when her dark blue eyes spotted her partner! Emmylou walked over to Cinna and Kace with a bug grin on her face. She grabbed Kace's arm and tugged it a bit. "He's mine!" She beamed up at him. "My partner!" And boyfriend but she was sure people already knew that. |
*Partners with Emmy* As Kace began to ask Cinna to be his partner, he noticed a little blue ravenclaw wanted to be her partner. Well he did beat her first, but then he noticed Emmy getting up and he smiled. I guesss he could be her partner. Naww he would love to actually. "It is fine Cinna. You can work with your partner and I can work with Emmy.." he smiled. He didn't wanna cause any confusion or anything. He smiled and kissed Emmy on the cheek and then was ready to work on the task at hand. So he needed to go get a stethoscope for both of them. He went up to the front of the room and brought it back to the desk. "Alright do you want me to go first or you?" he asked Emmy. |

It seemed like the lessons' activity in Hogwarts always in partners. Never mind, he bet that it would be fun. But first, he needed to find a partner. His chocolate brown eyes spotted a firstie student stood alone, begging to be somebody's partner. Well, it seemed like being a partner with her wasn't a bad idea. Besides, she's a Gryffindor too. Team Lions! Hehehe. "Hey!" The Korean boy greeted her. "Do you want to work together?" Hopefully she wouldn't mind working with older students. "I'm Jackson, by the way." |
Quote:
Aww. The short blonde knew that he would say yes to her being his partner but she also knew that if she asked Cinna then she would say yes to her as well. She would always have a partner in class with her but next year she would just have Cinna as a partner in all the classes. Emmylou beamed when he kissed her cheek and gave her a quick hug. He was so amazing and sweet and of course she loved him so much. She always will but focus on class and not Kace. Well yes focus on Kace but also class since he was her partner for this activity! |
