Entering in the barnyard, you are greeted with the rows of gated stables. Those who have been in "The Stables" previously will first notice the absence of being first greeted by Winged Horses. Where could they be? Why they've just been moved even further down towards the opposite open double-doors for easier access. Instead of fully cleaned out stables before you however, you see new creature inhabitants. Some familiar-looking from earlier classes and outdoor playpens, some not so familiar-looking.. Nearby the stables you see the wall with pink-glittered gloves and apron by the refilling tray of food. It looks fairly cozy otherwise around here now.

It was funny that Dot wasn't much good at Herbology but was delighted by Care of Magical Creatures. It helped that the creatures they dealt with were interesting and CUTE little baby griffins. In particular, Dot's baby griffin, who she called Lorenzo. On account of the fact that he was a handsome little gentleman.
And there was the little gentleman himself! "Enzo, my little darling." Dot let the griffin nip at her fingers, even though it hurt just a bit, and then she dropped into the stall to give him a cuddle. Those talons were killer, but he was sort and warm and sweet, and Dot put up with the inconvenience of being scratched. "Let me get your stall cleaned up a bit, and then we'll have ourselves a little party." It was awfully nasty in there, and Dot was happy to banish the dirty straw and put out some new.
Eden couldn't wait to see...HECTOR! again. Yes, she said his name like that in her head. HECTOR! all the time, all day, every day.
He was adorable and Eden was secretly plotting to steal him at the end of term to bring him home. She just needed some inside help was all. And by inside help, she was going to ASK Thompson first. And if he said no, she'd just...HAHAHAHA she'd plot.
PLOT.
She rushed into the housing area to find dear little Hector, and she had to admit...a lot of these little guys looked the same, but one of them immediately started sniffing at Eden's heel. She knew this was Hector. She hoped this was HECTOR!
"Hector?" she asked, reaching down to SCOOP him right up into her loving arms. He was squirmy. He didn't seem enthused about being squished like a baby, either, and Eden was getting SCRATCHES all over her arms, but..you know. Being a mother was hard, yeah. Especially a Griffin!mummy.
She heard the girl..yes, that was DOT--say she was cleaning the stall. That...was a good idea! "oooh...smart thinking, Dotty." Was Eden friends with Dot? Not closely. Did she think she could call Dot, Dotty? No. Did she care....? NOT REALLY. She fully expected sass. She smirked....maybe she WANTED the sass.
"Hector...let's...yeah. Let's clean up your little area, kay?"

Jokes on you, McGee. Everyone called her Dottie, and Dot didn't even notice as she scattered clean straw on the floor and gave the older girl a nod. Yup, hullo. She was sometimes a genius... like thinking to wear jeans and boots to do this work so she didn't smudge up her pretty shoes and tear her tights.
"This is Lorenzo. He's a very respectable gentleman... no, stop eating that, Enzo. It isn't food." Dot nudged her griffin away from where he was exploring the wand sticking out of her pocket with a hungry gleam in his eyes. The hay was all clean now, and she was ready to feed him.
"And yours is Hector? Accio bottle." Dot plopped down in the straw and let Lorenzo climb all over her as she prepared the meat mixture in the bottle.
While Genevieve trotted around the playpen, Sophie sat back on her hands, observing with mild curiosity. The griffin ended up pouncing a sleeping griffin, antagonizing it into playing with her until the sleepy griffin got up and pounced back. The two played for awhile, pecking and pouncing at each other and romping around until Genevieve seemed to lose interest and wandered back over to the Ravenclaw, who had a small smile on her face.
Griffins were mega cute, man. But she couldn't help but think about just how cute they WERE and how problematic that could be because... Tobes would want one. Wouldn't he? She could just HEAR him begging Javy for a pet griffin and how patient and kind Javy would be with him. That would actually be a cute sight, too - at least until Tobes didn't get his way, and then there'd be a sad Hufflepuff.
No one ever wanted Tobes to be sad. He was too pure and kind and perfect. Everyone loved that kid.
Soph was brought back to the present when Genevieve was pecking at her hand, and she avoiding the griffin's beak by gently stroking the creature's head, petting it softly. Genevieve contently took a seat beside Soph and let her pet her for a few minutes before impulsively taking off and romping back over to antagonize another griffin.
Short attention span, her griffin had.
...Could she come back, though? Sophie wanted to groom her. She could brush her to get the really nasty, knotted stuff out of her feathers and fur, then give her a proper bath. But... Genevieve seemed like she had quite a bit of energy to burn off yet.
Bummer. Soph would just be over here preparing the grooming supplies for when her griffin had less energy, then.

Now that Sven was all fed, maybe he could get him cleaned up? He decided to start with a brushing. He knew he would have to do something funky with the feathers, but he could brush the back part of Sven. The lion part.
He picked up a brush from the grooming supplies and beckoned for Sven to come over. After his dinner of raw pork, he seemed to be pretty trusting of Caleb now. He came over and sat down, resting his head on his lap. Perfect! Caleb gave the brush a few runs over the top of his head before moving to his back and brushing the pretty golden lion fur. A good bunch of it came off in clumps, meaning that he was shedding - was he shedding his winter coat or something? Or maybe the poor little thing hadn't been brushed in forever! After a few minutes, the shedding stopped, so he guessed it was the latter.
"Good boy Sven, do you like that? I wish someone would brush MY hair and do everything for me," he mumbled. Silly griffin had it made and he had no idea, did he?

So instead he decided to play with him! That would be fun! He had brought one of Baldwin's old rope toys with him (Baldwin could care less about the rope toys, he only wanted squeaky toys) and showed it to the griffin. "Hey Sven! Look at this! Wanna play? Wanna play with the rope?" he said, standing up and waving it over his head. The griffin looked at it for a few minutes and then started to jump, trying to grab at it. Caleb was much taller though, and waved it higher above his head. Sven let out a little yelp of excitement and tried to jump to get it, and then Caleb tossed it across the pen.
Sven went darting after it, pouncing on it in excitement before taking it and waving it around in his mouth like a lunatic. Sven was turning out to be almost EXACTLY like a dog...which Caleb was TOTALLY ok with.
With Chad now bathed, Kate pointed her wand toward him and cast a drying spell. "You can't eat and go to bed all wet and cold, can you?" she asked, almost as if the griffin was going to nod along or agree with her. Standing her in front of this griffin, Kate was suddenly reminded of how thankful she was to be back at Hogwarts. She'd dreamed of this school all her life, and she'd almost not only lost her time at the school, but also her father. "Better times," she whispered to Chad.
Kate ended the drying spell and put away her wand. She then retrieved the blanket she'd had earlier and brought it to the griffin. "You keep this around you, and you'll stay nice and warm," she told it. "Get comfortable, and I'm going to make you a raw meat meal, just how you like it."
That was when Kate looked over at Caleb and noticed all the fun he and his griffin seemed to be having. "Awesome!" she said. "Do you have any more of those?" Sure, Kate was going to feed Chad soon, but maybe later, after a short nap, he'd like to play fetch. "I didn't know griffins liked to play fetch. He looks like he's having an awesome time."
Just like in the lesson, Jean started out eating her food, really fast. And just like then Cinna was afraid that Jean going to choke on her food. "Jean.... Slow down, no one is going to take your food away from you." Even though she made it seem like she was. No one was taking it. The food was only fit for a baby griffin. Finally She got Jean to eat at a slower pace. She felt better about feeding her.
Now that Jean was all feed she needed to get her into a bath, This was going to me great. Exactly how did one bathe a griffin anyway? The sixth year looked around to see if she could observe a griffin bathing. Not seeing any, She hated leaving little Jean alone. "Jean, I'm going to give you a bath now." Jean tilted her head at the work bath. Just like her puppy, coco. Coco did not like baths.Hopefully Jean did.
The sixth year went and gathered a bucket, shampoo, sponge, brush and towels. The same thing she used for giving Coco a bath. She remembered bathing a hippogriff for her CoMC OWL last term so she guessed that bathing a griffin was some where between bathing a dog and bathing a hippogriff. She carried the things over to Jean. Who was chewing on the blanket, "Oh no Jeanie, were you still hungry." What the bottle wasn't enough for her? Taking the blanket away from her so she could start to bathe her.
She sat the things down, Okay she could this.....

Caleb chuckled and shook his head. "Nah, sorry, just the one. But I'm sure an old bunch of socks tied together to make a rope would do nicely," he suggested with a shrug. "I mean, you're welcome to try and borrow Sven's but...I don't think he'll let go," he remarked with a grin as he looked back at his griffin, who was chewing happily on the rope in the corner.
Now that he had him distracted, it was time to get to work and do some good old fashioned cleaning. Griffins were cute but man, could they make a mess! He pulled out his wand and took a few steps back, pointing at the mess and shouting "Scourgify!" watching as all the mess and debris vanished without a trace. All that was left was some hay, which he could easily sweep up into a corner. Which is just what he did - there was a broom resting against the pen, so he picked it up and made a nice little hay pile in the corner for Sven. If he wanted to burrow in it or whatever griffins did with hay...

Kate frowned. "That's okay. Thanks anyway," she said. She didn't have any old socks. What girl kept old socks lying around anyway? Eww. She looked from Caleb to Sven and back again. "Yeah, I think you're right. That griffin's not giving away that toy anytime soon." She watched the griffin a bit longer before realizing she was neglecting her own griffin.
"Oh, right. Your raw meat," she said, turning back to Chad. Kate retrieved a spare bottle then cleaned it, even though she was about to add raw meat to it. "Can't be too careful," she told Chad. Once it was cleaned, Kate retrieved a pack of raw meat she'd brought along and scooped some into the bottle. Finally, she raised her wand toward the bottle a second time. "Aguamenti!" she said. Once the meat was at a consistency the griffin could eat, Kate was ready to feed him.
This was almost as nerve racking as the CoMC OWL last term. Almost, nothing was as nerve racking as them. She sat everything out of the bucket and filled the bucket with water. Once the bucket was fill with water, she looked around for Jean, who was trotting around with the blanket draped over her. That was the cutest thing.
She walked up to Jean and scooped her up. "You can't get out of a bath that easily." laughing at the griffin's effort of trying to no get a bath. Griffins were pretty smart, yeah? She bough Jean over to the bucket. Sitting the griffin down she squeezed some of the shampoo onto the sponge. and dipped the sponge into the water.
Lightly moving the sponge over the griffin feathers and fur. Making sure she got Jean good and soapy but not too soap, because that might be bad if she did. She took her wand, "Aguamenti!" She rinsed off the griffin with the stream of water coming out of her wand. Once the griffin was clean of the suds, the sixth year wrapped her Griffin up in one of the towels and dried Jean off.
Was she tired yet? Or did Jean need to play a bit before bed?
Making sure she was dried off completely before letting the griffin out of the towel so she could prance around and show off her newly cleaned fur and feathers for all too see.
Yes, Jean was a show off.

Eden glanced over at Lorenzo and smiiiiiiled. "Hi there, Lorenzo!" she waved at the griffin as if he knew perfect English. Maybe he did. Who knows. Kids learn so fast these days.
"Yeah--Hector--" she said as she held him with one arm, keeping him still. "He's really calm..even in class, he was calm." She said with a shrug. It didn't bother her..she just hoped his disposition was calm, and that something wasn't WRONG with him. Fumbling around for her wand...she just decided to put the little guy down as she majorly scourgify'd the place...some of his droppings, and other animal-related messy things. Eden needed to do some more reading on griffins, honestly. She couldn't remember the facts so...easily as with snakes or lizards.
"Are you hungry? Do you want to plaaaaay? What'dya need little guy?" she asked as she plopped onto the ground. She just KNEW her bum would be covered in hay when she stood up, but she didn't much care. Hector started sniffing and nibbling at her hand. His beak was kinda' sharp, too, and Eden winced. "Aaaaay--not too hard, mate!" she pulled her hand away slowly and then attempted to stroke his head. "Let's feed you, then..." she said an sighed. "Maybe they'll want to play together after we're one...does Lorenzo play nicely?" she asked out of curiosity.

Dot watched Eden with her griffin, since Lorenzo was content to lick her knee steadily while he waited to be fed. He was a happy little eagle-lion, wasn't he? Quite insane, what with his tendency to eat things that weren't food... like fingers... but happy. Dot gave him another rough cuddle before turning her attention back to Eden.
The bottle was nearly ready. She'd heated the meat, added water, and now had this sort of yucky slushee thing. "Sit, Enzo. Roll over." Nothing. Obviously not a trained griffin. She was forced to put an arm around him and hold him in place as she offered the bottle, which was difficult when he was such a squirmy wormy. Once the griffin figured out what she had to offer, he calmed considerably, but in the meantime, Dot felt like her arms were coming out of their sockets.
"I dunno. I bet he is, but I only just became a griffin mama. Maybe they can play after they eat, and then I think they have to take naps. They're like for real babies, you know?"

Eden chuckled. "He's not a dog, Dot...I doubt he'll sit...or roll over." She said, but in a good-natured, know-it-all way. Not the condescending kind of way, either. "Maybe they're trainable. Who knows. They're part...lion. So feline and whatnot--" she didn't know. Weren't they smart animals?
Food. Hector needed some food. Eden needed to do that weird thing with the meat and the bottles and the LIQUID and like ugh. "..They are kindaaaaa' like real babies. Would you regurgitate your food for Lorenzo? What if we HAD to, would you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "I would. I'd do that for Hector, here." She smirked a little and ruffled his feathers.
Eden really would do that....if it was absolutely needed. ANYTHING FOR BABY HECTOR. She summoned the bottle, though, and shoved some of the meat into the it, and then liquified it with a nicely done heating charm and then...you know..water. She needed to mix up the meat and make it...super drink-y.
There.
Done.
His gross meat drink thing. Eden patted the spot next to her for Hector, but had to grab him when he came near...because there was NO way he'd stay still enough for her to feed him.

The funny thing about Eden was that she said stuff like they were friends, but it was just a little bit... mean. Like the thing where she asked about regurgitating, it was like she wanted Dot to know that she was a better griffin mother than Dot was. And maybe that was true, because there was no way she'd throw up food for someone else to eat, even if it was a starving griffin in the wild. No way.
"That's good for you. I wouldn't. There's probably a spell, you know? But I don't have a gizzard, so I don't throw up on command. Plus it's really unhealthy to eat raw meat. I might pre-chew food for Enzo, but only if I couldn't figure out a spell way to do it first and only if the meat was cooked." So basically, she was a bad griffin mother. Are you happy, Eden? Dot was a BAD MOTHER.
"Do you think they have bird brains or cat brains? I want to understand the psychology of a griffin so I can train him. You can train birds, you know... maybe I could tie messages to him and have him deliver my mail. Or I could teach him to migrate to Italy every winter. And when he gets bigger, he'll take me with him, and poof... free trip to Italy!" Was she talking too much? Dot shifted her weight to get the bottle more tipped, and Lorenzo slurped down the last of his dinner.

"Oooooh totally true--there probably IS a spell--and if there ISN'T...someone could surely come up with one, maybe." she aid as she held Hector tightly in order to feed him. He sure was squirmy NOW. "I can't throw up on command, either. It's probably a good skill to learn, though, you know, in case anyone ever tries to POISON you or something." HPMPH. Maybe that was....a little PARANOID of Eden, but...with Cutty lurking around....and after that recent thing with Phe and Cutty...
Yeah, it wasn't out of the realm of possibility.
She thought about that. Griffin psychology. "Well MAYBE you can train them--are eagles trainable? They might be." Lions were...in a so-so way. "Ooooh Italy. I've been to Italy. I have a friend who live in Venice." She said with a nod.
Well, Hector was just...eating his food right up. Eden was halfway done the bottle. She was also fairly certain the griffin was getting sleepy, because his eyes kept closing every so often. The cradling came pretty easily to the seventeen-year-old (ALMOST EIGHTEEN), and she found that she reaaaaaally couldn't wait for Iwin's baby to be here. REALLY couldn't wait.

With the newly-prepared bottle of raw meat now in her hand, Kate sat down beside her griffin and placed her hand on its back. It was bundled up in the blanket, and with her hand on its back, Kate hoped Chad wouldn't squirm too much. When he saw the meat, though, he made a loud noise and bucked a little, causing Kate to go wide-eyed. "Whoooa. Easy there," she told it. "I'm just going to feed you your favorite dish."
She almost wanted to ask Caleb, an older student, if he thought it was safe to proceed. He seemed busy with his own griffin, though, so Kate didn't mention it. Instead, she eased the bottle closer and closer to the griffin. "Yum, your favorite dish," she said again. She closed in the gap between the bottle and the griffin's mouth, and then she sat still while she allowed the griffin to eat. She may have even breathed in a sigh of relief when Chad finally settled down.

It didn't take a long time for his baby griffin to eat up the meal. "Good boy.. good boy..." The Korean guy smiled and patted Chingu's head. He was glad to see his baby griffin had a good appetite because it's a sign that it was as healthy as a hippogriff... Well, maybe as healthy as a griffin was more suitable because it's a griffin. Duh. He wiped Chingu's mouth with the clean towel and then cleaned the bottle that he's used for feeding the baby griffin with scouring charm.
"I know you must be thirsty after eating," He said as he cast water conjuring spell to the cleaned bottle. Then he fed it to Chingu. So, his baby griffin had been bathed, warmed, fed, and now maybe it's time for his baby griffin to take a rest. Besides, Chingu seemed already feel sleepy. Jackson then tucked it up to the stable. "Sleep tight, Chingu. I'll see you later." Now it's time to take care of himself.

Now that the stall was clean, Caleb decided it was time to give Sven the rest of his meal. He'd had pork, but that wasn't going to tide him over to his next feeding - so now Caleb would give him the raw beef he'd gotten as well. "Sven, want the second part of your dinner?" he asked with a grin. Sven perked up at the word 'dinner'. Could he really know what it meant?? Or was he just perking up because Caleb was saying things?
"Come here, boy!" he called, taking out his dish and pulling the plastic baggie full of beef out of his pocket. Sven hopped up immediately and ran straight toward him, almost knocking him down as he jumped up on him. "Whoa, easy there!" he chuckled. Someone REALLY liked beef huh?
"Here ya go," he said with a smile, taking the pan and emptying the contents of the bag in there. Sven turned and began to chow down, lapping up the contents of the pan in just a few seconds. "Slow down, you'll make yourself sick!" Caleb told him - although he knew he had NO idea what he was saying.

"Why do you wanna' go to Itay?"
"There's a spell for most everything," Dot agreed. She banished the bottle and tried to set Lorenzo back on his feet. Time to play with your little Hector friend now, okay? But Lorenzo wasn't really interested in playing. He was interested in tumbling back into her lap, his eyes at half-mast and little exhausted noises issuing from his beak.
Oh, that's right. The professor had indicated that the griffins liked to nap after their feedings, and Lorenzo was half asleep already. How long was this meant to last? Would he always crash for a while after eating? Did adult griffins do that too?
"I don't really want to go to Italy in particular. It was a hyperbole. You're a Ravenclaw, so you probably know what that word means." Dot wrapped the griffin in a spare blanket and cuddled him down into the straw. "I don't think they can play now. Enzo is sleeping."

Kate stayed still and quiet while the griffin ate. Truth be told, she was honestly ready for this to be over. The eating part, that is. She didn't mind taking care of the griffin otherwise. It was just that the raw meat turned her stomach and made her feel like she was going to be sick. Kate lifted her hand and looked around. Something...anything...could take her mind off the raw meat.
Spotting a fellow student with a toy similar to the toy Caleb let his griffin play with, Kate asked if the girl planned to use the toy today. She didn't, so she passed the toy to Kate. Thanking her, Kate held the toy up for Chad to look at. "Look, boy. I got you a toy!" she said, shaking the toy a little. Chad squirmed like a puppy wanting to play catch and awaiting the big throw, so Kate put the toy away for now.
"After you eat," she said. She probably should have rearranged things a little. The bath, the raw meat, and a nap should have come last. Oh, well. It wasn't like she had loads of experience with taking care of griffins. "All done," Kate said, noting the bottle was now empty. She gently pulled it away and began cleaning it before putting it back where she found it.

Hector was asleep by the time the bottle was drained out. Well. "We might...have to wait for play time--" she eyed Lorenzo, who also looked extremely tired. She had the griffin on her lap, for now, and was holding Hector like she would a baby. But her arms would give out eventually. She wasn't THAT strong. Baby griffins were more muscle than they looked!
She managed to maneuver the bottle cap off the bottle and one-handedly scourgify'd it. She wants to make sure it was clean? She squirted some water into it, too, and sighed. "How long do they sleep? I don't think we experienced their nap times in class..." because it had ended just after they finished feeding these little guys?
"Hyperbole: an exaggerated statement or claim that is not meant to be taken literally." She said with a nod. "Right. Like a metaphor." Kind of. Weren't the two related? Eden wasn't an expert on those things. "Italy IS really nice, though. You get a nice tan. The sun is great." Or was she mixing up Italy and Greece again? Merlin, she needed to get a better geographical grasp on places. As Dot had just said....she was a Ravenclaw.
Eden had taken to rocking the griffin slightly as he slept, just out of instinct or whatever. "They're so cute when they sleep. I want one."

Marsha was running, as usual while she was outside. Though, this time she wasn’t just running because she was outside, she was running because she was going to see Cadfael! And anything that involved her little baby Griffin meant that she would be happy and excited and WAY too energetic to walk. So, here she was.
In her had, she had a container that he had asked the house elves for, and it was filled with water. Last time, Dot had helped her to get some water to mix Cadfael’s dinner up, but she couldn’t be sure any of the older students would be around… so she was going prepared. Hehe. Little Fael needed his dinner regardless of her own magical abilities after all.
She had already decided what she was going to do; play with Cadfael, clean his stall, brush his feathers and hair, give him a bath, fed him, sit with him until he was napping.

Now that Sven was fed, it was time to put him down for a nap. Wandering over to the pile of hay Caleb had created, he sat down and motioned for him to come sit next to him. Sven seemed uncertain at first but then finally came over and sat by him, laying down and putting his head on his lap.
"Tired?" he chuckled as he slowly started to pet the top of his head. Sven slowly started to close his eyes, and very very VERY softly, Caleb started to sing a lullaby...hopefully only loud enough for JUST Sven to hear because omg. Embarrassing.
"Lullaby and goodnight, go to sweet little griffin
Go to bed, rest your head, la la la la la la la..."
...Caleb didn't know the rest of the words, so he just repeated that a few more times until Sven was snoring next to him. He sat up slowly, moving Sven's head so it was resting on the straw instead of his lap, and then brushed himself off. The griffin snuggled himself sleepily into the straw and then passed out again, snoring once more. Caleb grinned, gave him another pat on the head, and then headed out of the stall. He'd come visit again later!

So with a plan in mind, Marsha stopped running as she got close to the creature housing and made sure that she had everything she needed. She already had the water and had taken one of the empty bottles with her when she had left the day before so that she could clean it at the castle; these were both inside a small-medium container she had also managed to get from the house elves. She put some of the meat into the empty bottle so that it was ready for Cadfael’s dinner later. Sha also picked up a fluffy blanket, a soft brush and she grabbed a ball that was at the side of the room, wondering if he would play with it.
Moving towards the correct section, she smiled as she heard the animals chattering. She took two seconds to stop and say hi to Ana and Boom, Adi’s faeries and then continued on until she found the space that her littttle GRIFFFFINNNN was in. Hehehe. ”Halo Cadfael.” She greeted, in Welsh. Might as well bring it up to know that it is now included in Welsh culture. Sure, if she couldn’t have a Welsh Dragon like on the flag, might as well raise a Welsh Griffin. Bwahaha. So cool.
Moving closer, she laughed as Cadfael started to nip at her ankles, running around her. She was suppppper happy that the little one recognised her. How COOOL was that? Moving to set everything down on the ground, she carefully sat down without sitting on the little one. Within seconds, Cadfael was scrambling up her legs, to nuzzle her. BASICALLY, being cat-like but trying to search her for food. The Griffin was sniffing at different parts of her clothes, obviously trying to figure out where she had stored his meat and any treats. Silly griffin was too clever for his own good.

Eden had taken to rocking the griffin slightly as he slept, just out of instinct or whatever. "They're so cute when they sleep. I want one."
Ahem.
Dot made a little creche out of the straw so that Lorenzo was fully cradled by soft warmness, and then she settled down in the straw herself, her head pillowed against his side. She would just stay here until Lorenzo woke up. For research sake, she wanted to know how long these naps lasted.
Plus then they could play when he woke up.
"I'm going to wait until he wakes up." Just FYI, Eden. "I don't tan. Maybe I should go somewhere cold instead. I burn horribly and then I peel, and then I have even more freckles than when I started. It's not a happy cycle for me." Dot closed her eyes and considered napping herself. "They're adorable, but are you sure you're set up for a full-sized griffin at home? My house isn't nearly big enough for a big creature like that."

Well. She HAD had an idea with what she wanted to do with Fael, but apparently he wanted attention right now and didn’t want to play. So, she decided that she would just do things in a slightly different order and hope that he was still happy with the outcome.
So, instead of playing, Marsha picked up the brush that she had with her and tried to get Cadfael to settle on her lap. It wasn’t easy, so she held him with one hand and carefully brushed his head first, slow around his ears and eyes, down his neck and giggled when that made him make a sound that she hadn’t heard from him yet. GRIN. She kept doing that for a little while until that seemed to settle him and he stopped squirming so much.
Well, that was handy hehe.
She moved to brush down the feathers on his legs and then moved back to his head. She worked slowly down the back of his head, over the feathers of his neck until he got to his back. She smiled, just as happily this time as she had the first time she had brushed him down at the change from feathers to hair. The hair over his back and down his hind legs reminded her of her horse Chestnut when she was little. Y’know… except for the tail. Hehheee. Griffins were adorable.

The only thing left to do now was let the griffin play with the toy Kate had borrowed from the other student. "Alright, boy, ready to play with your new toy?" she asked it. "Well, it's technically not yours or mine either. We borrowed it from another griffin. So we just have to remember to give it back." So did he understand that? No taking off with the toy like Caleb's griffin did.
Kate tossed the toy a small ways into the area and watched the griffin snap into it with its mouth. He shook it left to wrap and made sounds as he enjoyed playing with it. Kate took the moment to clean up the area, as she and Chad had used a lot of materials today. When the area was clean, Kate sat down beside Chad as he played with the toy. After a while, she really had to go.
"Chad? I have to go now. I've got lots of homework to do, but I promise I'll come back," she said. She managed to get Chad to give back the toy, which she returned to the other student. "Why don't you take a nap now? You're all clean, warm, and fed." A nap sounded nice right about now. Kate patted Chad on the back then grabbed her bag. "Have a good day!" She smiled at him, waved, then turn and left the housing area.
