CoMC #2: Hot in here As you make your way toward the usual class meeting in the barnyard, you noticed the dim lighting and black covers over the usual creature's pen. The only light source came from near the middle of the hall where a campfire is fully lit. The previously absent, but not forgotten large padded blankets were laid around providing perfect padding to sit on. Right on one of them was Professor Thompson who had quite a large box on one side that occasionally shook and a closed bag on the other side near him. -- OOC: The lesson has already started. Just joining in? Don't post having your character arrive in. Simply post continuing from the latest one as if they were present all along. Where are we at? Post 1 - Greetings + First question. Post 2, 3 - Responses + Getting to know the little Dragons. Post 4 - Flying the little dragons. |
Robes on and wand at the ready and totally not looking like she just woke up from a nap, Evie made her way down the hill to the barnyard. The weather was nice and thankfully not rainy. The fresh air felt nice. Skipping the last few steps, Evie entered the area with a pleasant smile on her face. "Hello, sir," she greeted the ever-handsome CoMC professor before taking a seat on a blanket. She wasn't terribly cold, so she didn't sit too close to the fire. Her head tilted at the wiggling box beside the professor. "Whatcha got there, sir?" As if he would tell her. Worth a shot. |
Oh joy....another creatures class! Benny was excited as always, it was his favorite subject after all. And curious as ever to see what kind of creature they would be working with and learning about this time around. Making his way insides the barnyard, the sixth year did notice the change in the surroundings. The darkened interior...the coverings...the Gryffindor vaguely wondering if it had to do with the class or because of recent events. Guess they'd find out soon enough. "Hello Professor," he greeted Professor Thompson with a small smile. Okay so the man was one of his favorite professors as well. He was one of the first students to arrive to the gathering, apparently beating even Adi to the punch. |
Benny :P Henric walked into the classroom, eager to start learning more about magical creatures. He noticed the professor holding up a box and a bag on another,"Hello Professor,do you need help carrying them, sir?"he offered. He liked to help, his hands were free anyway. He noticed Benny was one of the first few to arrive in the class, he had half a mind to talk to him but he wasn't confident if Benny would ever want to. Henric wasn't sure...he sighed, deciding to not be like someone he's not. He wanted to fix whatever bad misunderstandings he had with Benny. He walked towards the older Gryffindor and greeted him,"Hi..." He was nervous that Benny would turn him away. |
Hoping that they would be working with the Griffins some more, Lux made her way towards the barnyard. She had made sure to bring her Little Mermaid blanket, so yay. It was currently folded up neatly at the bottom of her bag. "Hello, Professor Thompson," she said as soon as she stepped inside. Benny, Henric, and a girl she wasn't familiar with got waves. Where was Adi? Usually he was like her and one of the first people to arrive for lessons. |
It was time for another care of magical creatures lesson. Zhenya had enjoyed the lessons so far this term, which was good. Hopefully her NEWT results would be okay... She hoped Vaska was doing well, though it felt like only a few days ago since she had seen the baby griffin. She'd have to pop in and see her again sometime soon. There was a lovely campfire and some padding around for them to sit on. "Hello Professor," Zhenya greeted. She sat down and eyed the moving box. What on earth was in there? |
Angel was started to like the lesson more now that she actually found the Professor more fun. "Hello Professor." Angel smiled. "How are you today?" Angel then noticed the Professor was carrying something. "Do you need a hand?" |
His back to the entrance at first, the sixth year wasn't readily aware of who entered after them. However just just he moved to sit down on one of the padded blankets for a perch, one of them approached him. Henric of all people. Help...this was awkward...and Benny really wished Adi was around or something to make it less so. The two of them had already had their confrontation in the library. 'Um..Hello..." the Gryyfindor managed, not dorectly looking at him as he sat down finally. the boy then retrieving some parchment and a quill from his bag for note-taking. He gave an absent nod when he noticed Lux waving at him and acknowledge her and Angel's presence in the area. At least there were friendlies. |
Abby walked into the barn and said "Hello Professor" Abby had her wand in her holster ready and was wondering what sort of lesson they were going to have today |
WHEEEEEE! CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES! Adi jogged his all the way down from the Caslte to the Barnyard. "Hiiiii, hello, Professor,'' he greeted as he came to a halt and noticing the box. Ohhh, it was shaking. "Can I take a peek in there?'' Hehe. Adi kidded. No, not really. He was CURIOUS! Anywayyy, he scanned the arrivals. Heya, Lux, Angelfish and Abby! His eyes fell on Benny and Henric. Uh oh. The Hufflepuff cautiously made his way over to the duo, straining his ears as he tried to figure out if they were arguing or anything. Nope, didn't seem so. PHEW! "If the two of you argue I am going to go off by myself,'' Adi said by way of greeting. He smiled slightly. "Hey, guys.'' He flopped down next to Benny and pulled Henric down on the blankets beside him. There! They had him and he was sitting between them for good measure lest Benny got all jealous again and decided to lunge at Henric. Plenty of Adi for both of you. |
Walking into class, and noticing the dark atmosphere with the camp fire, Noel was intrigued. Oh this will be fun. Taking a seat opposite the professor, Noel greeted the man. "Hello Professor" And oh another class with a mysterious box, except this one was moving. Well ... that can't be good. |
"Creature time. Creature time," she half sang and half hummed as she made her way down to where the lesson was being held. There was an extra pep in her step because animals were her thing. All kinds of animal possibilities were running through her head. Which one would they be working with today? As she made her way closer she noticed the lighting and covers. "How mysterious, professor." How very intriguing. What was in the box? It was shaking and AJ had to fight off the urge to run over and look. She would have to get through the professor and that may be a bit challenging. In the end she decided on just telling him hi. "Hope you're doing well." And in a good mood so an innocent little fourth year could get a look. No? Okay, fine. Lots of people were here. Even though this was one of AJ's favorite classes, she still was very good with the promptness thing. Although if she was going to be early for any class it would be this one. Literally everybody got a warm smile from her. Benny, Henric and Adi were all sitting together and that had potential DRAMA written all over it. No, thank you. Instead she decided to go by her sister, Angel. |
Soooooooooo... why was it so dark in here? Toby stopped at the entrance to the barnyard and took a moment to sort of peer around, before stepping inside properly and heading across to the blankets and flopping down on one. He sat there, cross-legged, before twisting around and grabbing the corners of the padded blanket, and pulling it around himself, E.T.-style. Except he was more F.T. than E.T. And he'd never seen the movie. But y'know. Not the point. "Hey Prof. T," the Hufflepuff greeted the professor with a wide toothy grin, recycling a favourite old nickname. The T stood for teddy bear. Then, of course, Toby's attention went between the box and the bag, wondering what they'd be doing today. And, as usual, he fidgeted. Even inside his F.T. blanket cocoon... cave... thing. |
Janelle arrived at the barnyard, excited as usual for Care of Magical Creatures class. The setup was a little unusual and she wondered what they would be doing today. "Hello Professor Thompson", Janelle said, as she passed by him. Her curiosity was piqued when she saw the shaking box and closed bag near the professor. Wondering what kind of creature it could possibly be, Janelle sat down on one of the padded blankets. She kept her eye on the box trying to guess what was inside. |
Benny,Adi,Lux,Angel,Abby and all u loveliee peeps. Oh Benny had greeted him back...well...sort of. He wasn't looking at him but it was still a relief he didn't turn him away. Henric just stood there, feeling very out of place until Lux came to greet them."Hey Lux,how are you?"he asked with a small grin, he hoped she didn't sense the awkward atmosphere around them. He gave a slight nod of acknowledgement to the sisters before returning his attention back to Benny. Henric didn't know what to say to him, should he apologise for his blatant words towards Benny back in the library? Honestly,Henric was about to but Adi came at the most opportune moment. He was pulled down abruptly on the seat beside Adi in between them. Henric cast an apologetic smile towards Benny and gave a playful annoyed glare at Adi. "Adi, if you keep pulling me down like that, my arm will fall off...sheesh.You're paying for my insurance." Hoping his joke would lighten the mood a little. |
Marsha was excited. Although, that probably didn’t really shock anyone now-a-days… She loved animals, and Professor Thompson was awesome AND animals. What else was needed in life to have a good time? Hehe. Having walked down to class with some of the other Gryffindors, Marsha smiled at the campfire in the middle of the room. How cool was that? Wearing old jeans and trainers, with a sensible baggy top, Marsha flopped onto one of the beanbag type seats. She placed her blanket, throw thing around her shoulders and she soaked up the heat in the room. Hehehe. MAJOR smiles and a wave for the Professor. ”Hi Professor Thompson.” Gringrin. Now, what creature were they getting to look at, and after today? It was certainly one that was awake at night, and liked to move... or maybe it didn't like the noise... OR maybe it didn't like the dark. She tilted her head slightly as she tried to study the box for clues. |
Ooooohhh a FIRE. Norah sped up as she entered to go stand beside it, her eyes widening at the flames jumping around. Did Professor Thompson KNOW how much she liked fires? Because she liked 'em a whole lot. They were almost as cool as sparkles and stars and other stuff that glowed because nothing was more entertaining than stuff that glowed. She could probably look at it forever and ever. Turning to give the professor a huge grin, she called "Hi Professor!" and then turned right back to the fire. Could they roast marshmallows? Marshmallows sounded radical right then. |
Henric, Adi, Benny *drops in* Ilia made her way into the barnyard, her favorite place to be. As she got closer to the beautiful pit of flame known as the campfire, she saw their professor seated on one of the cushy mats, with a curious box. Did it just...move? Her curiosity was most definitely piqued as she looked. "Greetings Professor Thompson." She gave her usual bow and proceeded to search for a seat among the rest of her classmates. Spotting her best friend and the other boys she gave a small smile and walked over. For once, she didn't bother with the niceties of asking politely to sit beside them. Today, she just decided to sit right next to Henric, almost leaning on him. "Hello boys." She spoke quietly, encompassing all three classmates and gave them a beaming smile as she waved over at Adi and Benny. It was nice that they were not arguing anymore, perhaps there would be hope for her and Leah.........just.....not right now. |
Adi, Henric AJ and Ilia Okay so he hadn't been the most polite in his return greeting, but then Benny didn't know what to make of Henric and things. It didn't seem like the Hufflepuff really did either, the silence lingering between them for a bit until Adi arrived and sat down beside him, pulling his younger housemate beside him on the other side. An Adi sandwich was what they had there. "Not arguing..." he answered at first as Henric gave him a weird smile. He was NOT spending another COMC lesson without his best bud and fellow creatures lover. "Hey," he added with a weak smile at the boy. Yeah Adi was allowed his rarer smiles. Benny vaguely noticed AJ's appearance in the barnyard and understood her desire to stay away from them. For once it might be better for the two sisters to be together without their other halves. Yet there was an addition presence to the mix as Ilia sat down on the other side of Henric. "Hello," he added politely returning her greeting. She, he had no trouble or fight with. |
The creatures loving crew, yo! "I know you guys aren't,'' Adi said as he adjusted himself comfortably between his friends, sitting cross legged with his bag out in front of him. He had taken some consideration to Benny's feelings and had in the last few days not worn Henric's badge but today he was wearing it. He was trying to balance out things... you know, trying not to hurt either of his friends. Adi grinned back at his best friend and patted him on the shoulder. Soooo, Henric was going to carry on as though nothing had been wrong? This was fine by Adi who laughed now. “Sorry about that. You’re so yankable.’’ He tugged on Henric’s arm. TugTugTug! “I’ll have to have loads of galleons for this insurance I’m sure.’’ Oh, looky! It was AJ! The Hufflepuff waved at his girlfriend just as Ilia arrived. Awh, it was the crew from the Transfiguration trek through the ‘forest’! “Heeeey, Ilia!’’ She was joining them, yesh? Yes, she was! Wheeee! Four creatures loving students together again! |
Another day. Another lesson. Lately most of the days have began to run together for Hady but each CoMC lesson tended to stand out for her. Luck for her she had a huge liking for all creatures..well alright most creatures. For there was that very rare few she just wasn't all that fond of. Shuffling slowly towards the barnyard she pushed the strap of her bag up higher onto her shoulder while she scanned the area around her. Semi dark except for the campfire light, different but yet pleasant all the same. "Hello Professor," she greeted quietly when she got close enough to be heard. No need to be all loud now or anything like that. Without further delay Hady selected an empty spot on one of the padded blankets and quietly sat herself down placing her bag at her side. She might not have said much as of yet but that didn't mean she didn't notice the box beside Professor Thompson that kept shaking occasionally. Clearly that had something to do with whatever it was they'd be working with today...but what was it? |
Lesson. Lesson. Lesson. LESSON. Rooney was infinitely dedicated to the whole studying section of living away at school. The only downside of this was just how much he missed seeing his little brothers and he was SURE that Deacon and Teddy had probably mastered every word in the living language besides his name. That was the sucky part. He wanted his brothers to at least remember him instead of being confused every time he went home. That wasn't the big question today though. Today's question was whAT WAS HE GOING TO LEARN?! The whole campfire thing was exciting to say the least, and Roo was already thinking about every possible camp song he had ever learnt as he took a seat beside Miss Marsha. Just in case they required them during this lesson. |
Multi-colored eyes landed on the flames belonging to the campfire, following the ring of blankets around it. Her eyes stopped as they landed on Professor Thompson. Suddenly her cheeks tingled and warmed up. He had been brave...going into action and saving her and Tobias from hippogriffs. Moved them out of the way so swiftly too. Did he bench press? If so how much? . . . Right. She was blocking the way. Crud. Shaking her head, she sat down on a blanket two or three spots away from the Creature's professor, her gaze momentarily falling on the box. "Good day, professor Thompson." She smiled timidly, eyeing the box some more. |
On the bright side it was starting to slowly get somewhat warmer outside. Which was great. She was glad that she decided to keep on taking Care of Magical Creatures this next term. She should really go see Jean she hasn't seen her in a while. Maybe after the lesson since it was nice out today. Cinna headed down to the barnyard to where they always met up for the lessons. "Hello, Professor Thompson." She said once she got to the spot where he was. She raised an eyebrow at the big box it shook. What was in there? She was sure she was going to soon find out. Fire. Camp fire. She wanted a roasted marshmallow now. She headed over to Luxand the the others that were around her but mostly Lux. She didn't really talk many of the others much. |
As more people entered the classroom, Lux sent them waves. Adi was joined Henric and Benny, but it seemed like AJ was steering clear. Odd. Usually she chose to sit near her boyfriend. There seemed to be a little bit of tension in the atmosphere. ...Or maybe she was just imagining it? She could still remember the drama in History of Magic, but that had to be settled by now. "I'm good, Henric. How are you?" Besides missing Bay, she was doing awesome. They would talk soon anyway. And now Cinna was here too! Yay! Lux smiled at her. "Hey." They were going to sit together this class. Yep. She wanted to be seated beside Cinna. |
.... What the heck was up with all of these mystery boxes? Zander didn't really see the appeal, as it meant having to WAIT to find out the contents within them. And he wasn't all that good at waiting. See, curious Gryffindor things didn't really mix with patience and waiting. Anyways, he was gonna try not to think about it as he approached his CoMC Professor. "Hi Professor, what's in the box?" Okay. Too late. He thought about it. Ahem. Welp, there was always next time. Maybe Professor Culloden would show up with a mystery box too. Where to sit though? This was always the hardest part. He noticed plenty of familiar faces, very tempted to go sit near Lux and Cinna. But instead... He was gonna go sit on a blanket thing next to Noel. Hi Hufflepuff friend. Sup. |
SPOILER!!: Greetings "Good day, everyone." Now that the silence had unfolded with the exception of the crackling fire, "Hope you all have enough room in your stomachs for some snacks as Mr. Nicolei and Mr. Rehman will be passing around the marshmallows and Graham crackers." As for what today's class entailed, "Today will be somewhat a relaxing day, as exams are approaching closer." How relaxing? "As you all know of the recent circumstances, you'll be satisfied to know our little Griffin friends have been returned to their sanctuary safely." Well, he didn't say happy since he could tell a number had grown attached to them already. "We will begin with a little discussion before getting to practice care on a favoured creature." While some of the items were going around, Professor Thompson then revealed the remaining items from another bag. The large box still occasionally shaking. "Do not worry, you will find out what is in that one... after we fix our snack." Revealing out of the bag: Chocolate and Strawberry syrup and a sprinkle shaker. With perfectly shaped sticks, plates and juice boxes being summoned to everyone after. "Gather round everyone and get what you need, since we'll be on the floor for the duration just as last class." Now to finally start off. "So, while we prepare our little feast meals let's begin with the higher classified magical creatures. Something that will likely show up on your exams." Hint, hint as that large box still occasionally shook. "Now what do you know of XXXX and XXXXX ranked creatures?" --- OOC: As mentioned, what do your characters know on XXXX & XXXXX-ranked creatures? Try to share only one idea/fact on them, so others can have a chance. =) Lesson will continue sometime tomorrow. |
Oooo class was beginning and he could focus on it for the moment rather than any awkwardness that lingered among the group of four friends. Benny was glad for that, even more than news of the likeliness of them creating smores since Adi and Henric were to be passing out marshmellows and graham crackers. He couldn't help but make a small face at the fact that they were grabbed together. Adi he could see as prefect....by why did the other boy have to be the other one. Sigh. There was mixed feelings about the news on the griffins since they wouldn't be caring for them anymore, but Benny supposed it was all for the best. They were probably best with trained professionals. Soon...soon he hoped to be one of them. Or at least on the way to be one of them. As the first question was put for the class, the Gryffindor was back being distracted away from thoughts of food and he raised his hand to answer. "They are highly dangerous , the XXXXX creatures having instances of killing witches and wizards." And muggles too he supposed. |
This class was fun all by itself, but today they were getting snacks. That was an extra bonus. What more could Janelle ask for? Animals and snacks. Nothing better. Professor Thompson was still being mysterious though. They still didn't know what was in the box. The curiosity was killing her, but Janelle just had to wait for the answer like everyone else. Then it was question time and Janelle was ready to share what she knew about magical creature classifications. Raising her hand. she began to speak. "XXXXX creatures can't be trained." They were the baddest of the bad. Those were the ones who should not be messed with. |
Cinna smiled at Lux it was nice to at least be on speaking terms. Baby steps maybe one day there friendship really be a thing again. They could sit together in lessons that was cool. She also seen Zander who looked like he was going to join them or not. He did get a little friendly wave. Yeah. There were getting marshmallows. She always. always had room for food. Always. Toasted marshmallows made her happy. And what a relief relaxing day? What did that really mean? Awww Jean was gone? But it was nice to know that she was in a safe sanctuary. What exactly were they going to be studying? Dragons? No probably not dragons but that would be cool wouldn't it? She had no idea but listened and tried to figure out what was in the box. Snack time? That had her full attention. She moved closer with the others. She decided on both chocolate and strawberry syrup. Why not? Chocolate covered strawberries were her favorite. She raised her "They are some of the most dangerous creatures." Obviously. But still it was a true fact. |
Wait. Wait wait wait wait. What was this that the professor was saying? The griffins were gone, but it was somehow okay because he was giving them crackers? Merlin's long beard, did he really think that was a good trade? Her eyes welled up immediately and Dot put a hand in the air. Then she put the other one in the air, because she had TWO questions. "Professor, can we visit them? Our griffins? 'Cause mine thinks that I'm his best friend and momma, and I would hate for him to get abandonment issues. And also..." She waved her second arm. "Can you guarantee these snacks will not turn us into werepeople? Or any other animal? Or are entirely mundane and not magical?" You wouldn't lie to a teary fourth year, WOULD YOU? |
Food. Curiosity. Distractions. Beverly's gaze kept flickering from the food, the box and the professor. Her priorities shifted. Good and creatures, it was like putting her between a wall and sword. As the food came around, she raised her hand. At least she didn't have to choose. "XXXXX creatures can't be domesticated...like dragons." Beautifully majestic and wild at heart. "Can't be domesticated." Until one day...when Beverly Wayne conquered dragons. |
DID PROFESSOR THOMPSON JUST MENTION MARSHMALLOWS AND GRAHAM CRACKERS???? If s'mores were involved this lesson, she was going to DIE. Lux was going to die because she loved s'mores. Could they be a part of every lesson? Well, maybe not Potions...but still. They needed to be a part of lessons from now on. She beamed at Cinna, because she knew that she loved food too. Food was amazing and everyone should love it. Bay loved it; too bad he couldn't enjoy it with her. Since she was an amazing girlfriend, she could eat another snack for him. Yeah, Professor Thompson should totally allow that because he was an awesome teacher. Food in hand, Lux was sooo tempted to start eating, but figured that it would be a good idea to answer the question first. She raised her hand. "Only trained wizards and those with specialist knowledge can deal with creatures rated XXXX." Finished speaking, her eyes drifted to the box that occasionally shook. She wondered what was inside. |
Marshmallows and Crackers, anyone?! SPOILER!!: Before Class "Aights, Professor Thompson! No problem,"Henric nodded, grinning at the prospect of handing out the deliciousness to the class with Adi!! BRILLIANT! He took the bag of Graham Crackers from the professor and started giving out to the first row of students. Hopefully there were still more left for him to steal back. Narh, he was only joking. He would probably eat them along the way though. Hehe. "Here you go, mate...for you...and you.."he said while handing out the goodies. After he was done, he walked to Benny,"Hey, you wanna help handing these out too?"he asked as he pulled a bunch of graham crackers in his hands, it was totally fine if he didn't want to, he would recruit llia to help him. There were plenty of hungry and eager looking students left to give around them. Henric still left a few more Graham packets in his bag and everyone else seemed to have a fair share....huhu...He went back to his seat beside llia and passed the leftovers to her."Here...llia,you can have the rest,"he smiled. And ohhh chocolates and strawberry jam!!Whuut!Weee~ Too distracted with the snack in hand....he opted to just listen to his classmates answers while popping a marshmallows into his mouth. He couldn't talk anyway with his mouth full. |
Food. Sweet treats. This was happening. Throw in a mystery box that was currently housing a mystery creature and you had a party. Inner screaming was happening because outer screaming was frowned upon. It was a good way to get points taken away from you too. AJ was almost fifteen years old and she was totally mature now. Yeah... right. Ohhh... Henric and Adi were going to be handing out the goodies to everybody. D-R-A-M-A. Either the professor had no idea about the issues with the three boys and it was a mere coincidence orrrr he liked stirring the pot. Either way AJ couldn't help but to look in the direction of Benny. Awkward. She took the food given to her by the pair, and shoved a graham cracker down her throat before she could stop herself. Whoops. Slow down, AJ. Nobody was going to take it from you. As far as the question was concerned, AJ knew those creatures were bad news. "I think they are just misunderstood..." |
Ohhh, Thompson had a job for him? Nooooo problemo! Mr Helpful was on the way! "Sure, I can do that, Professor.'' He gave the man a grin and padded off. Did Thompson do the right thing by giving him the marshmallows? Maybeee, maybe not, because even before Adi arrived at his first classmate, one of the treats was in his mouth. Woopsie. Hehe. Adi moved about holding out the marshmallows so that the others could take how many they wanted. "None for you,'' he told AJ when he reached her and playfully pulled the sweets away. LOl! He kidded! The girlfriend was likely to beat him up if she didn't get any. After AJ had gotten hers, he moved on to the rest of the class before flopping down by his group, holding out what was left for Benny, Henric and Ilia. His hand was up, ready to answer the question. "XXXX requires specialist knowledge, Professor.'' The sixth year snagged two crackers to sandwich a marshmallow between. Oh and yep. He was pleased for the baby Griffins but he would miss biter Henry. :/ |
SPOILER!!: Before Class She missed the baby griffin's and she worried about Sindri. Did anyone sing to her now? She knew that they would be well off, but she would always love her dearly. She accepted the food that Henric gave her with a small smile, but she didn't have any interest in eating it right now. After the joint P.A.D. lesson she was wary about anything given to them by a professor.....and she was too excited about creatures to want to eat. It was hands down the class she really loved and no food could take her attention, even if it was yummy. What did she know about level xxxx and xxxxx creatures? She listened to her classmates , but on her turn answered. "Level XXXX creatures may be classified as such, not necessarily for their danger level, but also if they are endangered or hard to keep in captivity." Ah level xxxx creatures, phoenixes and thestrals were what came to mind for her and she loved them. |
Marshmallows and graham crackers?!? WOAH. How was Dima meant to focus now? He tried to keep his attention on the professor and off the food, though. An attempt was what counted, right? And the Ravenclaw would try ANSWERING, too, just to prove he wasn't totally lost in daydreams of s'mores large enough to hug. Hand up. "I know that Merpeople are one of the creatures rated XXXX, sir." Dima was sure because he had researched them this year, when he'd decided to take up learning Mermish. It was rather fun. "D'you think they could be one of the species that are endangered or hard to captivate rather than being too dangerous, like that other girl said?" Er... he didn't know her name....... awkward. |
Marshmallows and graham crackers. Penelope didn't like marshmallows very much, but she did like graham crackers. She would just have graham crackers. What would they be doing today? XXXXX creatures? Those were the really dangerous ones, right? "They're dangerous." She didn't really know much about XXXXX creatures other than that. This wasn't one of her best subjects. Maybe she should spend more time studying for this class. |
Food? FOOOOD? Man, this was the best day EVER. Norah beamed at Professor Thompson as she sat down and reached for a marshmallow. She held it up to her nose and took a deep inhale. Perfect. She looked up from her potential feast as he started the lesson. That was a whole lot of X's. Were there any creatures that were XXXXXXXXXX? Or XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX? Who got to decide how many X's one of them got, anyways? The other students had already mentioned the dangerous bit and really that was the only thing she knew, so she put her hand up instead to ask, "How do they decide how many X's it gets?" Professor Thompson had to know, he was a professor. |
Angel was totally happy and she gave the Professor a nod when he asked if she was well, now though she had to try and figure out what xxxx or xxxxx meant. In clothing wasn't the x like an extra so that would be some big clothing there. Angel was shocked when the Professor said they were going to have a snack, most Professor didn't like you snacking in class and she wondered what was going on first it was very dusty and now the Professors were letting you eat in class, okay who has kidnapped the real professor and replaced them with robots? Angel was still trying to figure out everything else. She thought for awhile but couldn't figure out anything so she decided that she would just guess. "Professor it means they are the most dangerous creature around which means you can't have them as pets right." |
Noel smiled when Zander joined him. "Hey Blondie" the boy greeted with a grin. The lint roller incident still fresh in his mind. The grin only widened when snacks and a relaxing day was mentioned. Yes. They needed a break. Especially fifth years because OWLs. Yeah. Noel didn't wait around and got himself a juice box. Sipping on it, he waited his turn and then put his hand up to answer. "the creatures in five Xs has to be much more dangerous than the ones classified in 4 Xs." It seemed like a 'duh' thing, yeah? "I think the 4 Xs mean there is hope to train these creatures and maybe not get killed but 5 Xs is like 'abandon all hope'" |
SPOILER!!: Roo Marsha looked up as someone sat next to her, her happy grin still plastered over her face. OH! It was Roo. Awesome. ”How are you, Roo?” She asked as he got comfortable. Actually, how comfortable were these blankets? Hehehe. Ohh, food! She smiled at Adi and the other Hufflepuff who were handing out food and grinned at the Professor as he handed out MORE food. This was awesome - but what. Marsha’s heart sunk and her face fell as he mentioned that the Griffins - THEIR BABIES - had been sent to a proper Griffin reserve. She bit on her lip to keep from crying at the thought of never getting to see Cadfael again but tried to hold it together as he moved on to the subject of XXXX and XXXXX creatures. Sniff. Distracting them with food and awesome creatures. Low move Thompson. But really… Marsha couldn’t blame him. I mean the Griffin’s were going to be far too big for the housing here and they didn’t have NEARLY enough space… so she knew it was better, but she would have liked to have said goodbye. BUT - Dot asked an excellent question. COULD they see their Griffins again? Yes? Yes needed to be the answer. As she settled down again, she picked at her smore and then nodded her head at the Professor and listened to the others in her class. Dangerous? Pfft, they said that like it was a bad thing. You just had to be careful and know what you were doing. ”Misunderstood creatures…” She muttered as everyone kept pointing out their worst character flaws. ”Sir, fiveX is the category assigned by the ministry to animals such as Dragons, Basilisks, Acromantula’s and Manticore’s. Generally, they are in that category for how hard they can be to calm down once they are shocked or scared and that can often lead to accidents and death… but it’s just a shame we can’t communicate with them properly… I’m sure they don’t really deserve that category listing.” Sighsigh. |
Toby kinda did notice the blanket get a little easier to pull around him and therefore better suited as a sort of blanket burrito cave thing, but was not observant enough to realise how it had happened. Just one of those things. He sat huddled in the blanket and watched the fire for a little while until they got started. And... ooooooooh... FOOD. Toby had absolutely not learnt his lesson about accepting food from professors, no questions asked, after that P.A.D. lesson, because 1. he'd not actually eaten the cookies that day, and 2. he'd pushed most of the memories from that class out of his brain. Also, he absolutely trusted that Thompson wouldn't trick them all with sneaky potions in food, for reasons. Ohhh, but were those marshmallows vegetarian? Huh... that was the question. Toby had no idea, and even though he figured they probably WERE on account of Prof T always being prepared, he still only nibbled on one of the graham crackers (though he took both s'more components). Anyway, yeah. FOOD ASIDE FOR THE MOMENT (shock horror), he should probably give an answer to the question. "Those're the ones that are less likely to let you cuddle them," Toby put in, his arm in the air and making the blanket draped around him look even bigger for a moment. Technically, he wasn't wrong, but most of the obvious answers had been said and Toby was thinking OUTSIDE THE BOX. Plus, Thompson knew that Toby knew his stuff when it came to creatures. The Hufflepuff dropped his hand again and picked up another cracker to nibble at. "I'd cuddle them though, if they wanted, or I'd at least try, and I'd ask first to see if they wanted a cuddle. Or I'd try to be their friend, 'cause it must be lonely at the top, everyone's probably scared of you with all those Xs, an-" WAS THAT JUICE? Toby broke of suddenly, mid-sentence, and abandoned his answer and train of thought entirely to focus on leaning on over and grabbing himself a juice box. ... Could he maybe drink some chocolate syrup too? Maybe? Would anyone notice? No? Toby eyed the bottle, all shifty like. |
Class started, and Kate was suddenly really happy about two things. Number one, their griffin friends were alright, and they'd been returned to their sanctuary. That was good. Kate would have been heartbroken to learn that something had happened to Chad. The second was that their was food, which was good, because Kate was hungry thinking about all those snacks. Okay, so Ministry rating and what they mean... Raising her hand, Kate said, "My mom is a Senior Dragon Researcher at the Ministry of Magic, and she sometimes works with dragons that have that classification," she said. "I know that she and the team she works with is sometimes called in to give their research on the dragons, so that people know how to handle them properly. So I'd say that creatures in this category need to handled by people with a lot of knowledge about them." |
OOOOH were they gonna learn about dragons? PLEASE LET THEM LEARN ABOUT DRAGONS! Caleb already loved this class and he would SO love it more if they got a chance to learn about some awesome, deadly stuff. Just not lethifolds. He raised his hand to contribute to the conversation. "Sometimes, like with merpeople and centaurs, they are rated XXXX because they have human like intelligence and therefore can be manipulative and dangerous, just like any other human," he explained. Personally, if he were a merperson he'd be very insulted at the term 'human like intelligence' but eh, what can you do, that's how it was... |
Groaaaaaan. Did Thompson HAVE to mention exams? DID HE? Grayson scrunched up his face as he started munching on the marshmallow and Graham cracker combo he'd managed to grab. They sucked the fun out of everything, those freaking exams. And he was MORE than ready to be done with them already. Who wanted to be sitting there studying for hours on end when they could be doing something FAR more interesting? Exa-- WOAH WAIT HOLD THE FREAKING PHONE. His eyes widened at the question as he looked over at the box near Thompson. No. Way. Did this mean that they were gonna learn about an interesting, and hence dangerous, creature? Oh MAN. THIS was what he was talking about! Bring 'em the dangerous creratures Gulping down the last of the snack, the boy proceeded to raise his hand up in the air. "If you value your life, you shouldn't willingly go near these creatures unless you know what you're doing. There's a fine line between bravery and just plain stupidity." |
Benny was simply listening as some of the others gave answers to the question posed to them, not paying attention to the progression of the snack helpers. Hearing Henric speak again near him, the Gryffindor looked up, confused at his question. "No..." he said finally, perhaps a little firmer than he meant it as he motioned for the Huffie to keep the graham crackers. "Thompson asked you to do it." He wasn't about to question one of his favorite staffers. Even if it wasn't the best. He was just sit here, listening to stuff and answering what he could. And awaiting the truth about what they actually would be learning on. That had to be interesting given the opening bit of information being shared. Could he finally get his wish? Could he? Could he? |
Hugh was, SHOCKINGLY (not so much), hardly paying any mind to what was happening at the front of the class. He had been in deep thought the past two months about the universe and was too engrossed in THAT to pay attention to much of anything. Not that he really thought he was missing much, yo. AFTER ALL, none of this mattered. None of them existed. Everything was uncertain save his own thoughts. He thought them, therefore, he knew he existed. Perhaps not in the platform he saw everyday via the mirror but he knew he existed in one way. Everyone else? Eh. Yet to be decided. So paying attention was not at the top of his list of things worth doing. Though he did manage to hear something about a ton of X's. What class was he in again? No idea. |
Great they would be on their behinds the whole lesson. Well one thing was for sure Dante's legs would be dead by the time the class ends. You could bet even galleons on that. You know if you wanted easy money and who doesn't. Those were a lot of X's for a classification. They should make it easier like just make it a skull and cross bones. That would get the message across that students or anyone should be seeking out these creatures. Time to move and try and get comfortable again. It was a losing battle but why not. |
Satisfied? Zhenya was sad she didn't get the chance to say goodbye to Vaska. She hadn't known. Of course she was satisfied, her little griffin was in an environment that she could grow with her buddies and learn from the older griffins. She still felt a little sad though. And yes, exams were approaching. Zhenya had stuck to her schedule and felt like she had deserved the breaks she had scheduled in. Her brain was often feeling sludgy but at least it was full of information. Ooh food. Delicious sweet food. Zhenya got her juice and started to drink it. She wasn't sure what to do with the other stuff, so she waited to see what everyone else did before she touched it. The juice though; good. She got some biscuits and marshmallows and a stick. She knew what to do with the stick and the marshmallow, so she roasted a marshmallow and ate the delicious gooey blob. Zhenya had a think about it and listened to everyone else's suggestions. They were all good, and Zhenya almost decided not to answer, but something came to her. She raised her hand, the juice box in it. "Well Dementors are XXXXX rated, and there's spells against them. Expecto Patronum. So, even though they're one of the most dangerous creatures, we have a skill to use against them. Are there things like that for all of them?" She wondered. They had learned about werewolves in the PAD lesson, learning the spell to bind the limbs together, and wolfsbane, but what about the other ones? Dragons? Besides run away and hide under something non flammable. And a basilisk? Cover your eyes and hide the best you can. Any spells for those other animals? |
For the first time in Hogwarts history, a Professor ACTUALLY answered the 'what's in the mysterious box' question. MAN. Thompson literally just promoted himself to GREATEST PROFESSOR EVER LEVEL. Ahem. Even though it wasn't really a true answer. It was still more than a 'you'll see' answer. That's what Zander got most of the time. So this was EPIC. And making history too, he supposed. Merlin. This was GREAT. Especially because it was something related to what is never allowed on campus. 'Cause that meant they'd work with SPECIAL creatures today. Zander was a very happy camper. Except for when Noel mentioned the whole 'blondie' thing, the Prefect couldn't help but be UTTERLY embarrassed about the lint roller thing. 'Cause he was almost 78% sure that Noel was thinking it too. ASDF how embarrassing. Sigh. What can you do? He mussed his hair automatically, trying to cover the fact that the cut was uneven and that he definitely needed to get it fixed still. At least Maggie didn't let him go bald. That would've been worse. Though, he wasn't a big fan of this whole jagged style thing he had going on at the moment. Ahem. Which is why he was glad that Professor Thompson decided to make now a great time to start the lesson. Because that meant Noel would be looking up at creature stuff and not at uneven haircuts. SNACKS?? S N A C K S? Did Professor Thompson just say SNACKS? That's it. Consider the promotion set in stone. This was happening. They were having SNACKS. And not that dumb vegitable kabob stuff that Domingo Professor gave them a few years back. ACTUAL SNACKS. But unfortunately the snacks were main priority because Zander was so focused on snacks that he didn't answer the question right away. And by the time he realized he ought to... Well, most people covered it. So uh, he'd pass on this question. BUT THE NEXT ONE FOR SURE, SIR! We won't let you down. |
SPOILER!!: Answers + Responses Well, well.. didn't the air feel a little tense? Preposterous, it had to be from the heat. Now that everyone was settled with their snacks, Professor Thompson set the remaining snacks aside. "Good.." In regards to those who had contributed their thoughts and answers, despite how... unique some were. Anyways, that box had been rocking long enough, " Now as you all have noticed the coverings over all the stalls. Not only is it for the protection of the fellow creature residers.. But the dark presents a soothing atmosphere to them." Now who was 'them', exactly? "Norwegian Ridgebacks." Did the Professor just say that? Well, to prevent some students from questioning their own hearing, he gave the moving box a simple tap opening it. Revealing the poking head of a little brown dragon. A curious one as he peered around at everyone before making a 'hiccup' like noise. "Not just your average Norwegian Ridgebacks, special ones that had been sized accordingly for our own handling." As Javier then picked up one to set in his hand where it sat perfectly, before he handed it one to the student sitting nearest, gesturing them to send it down as he sent more one by one until everyone had one. "After enough letters and compromising, a Sanctuary was generous enough to allow us a chance to handle them. With the conditions as you see being their size temporarily being small to be able to be handled by any student in here." Javier then finger petted over the black ridges to its little head, making it cough a spray of little fire, "Not adults quite yet, they have a number of years before being sent elsewhere." Before looking at the students again, "They'll need some names, don't you think? How about we get acquainted with them. You can pet and talk with them, maybe even help cook the marshmallows faster by rubbing under their neck." As he then did so with his index finger, making the little dragon spray some fire. --- OOC: As explained, feel free to get acquainted with the little dragons. Should take no more than three labelled posts. Lesson will continue in 24 hours from this post. =) |
Post 1 Oooooh, baaaaad boys. Both Adi and Henric got points taken away from them for being food hogs. Really, she didn't blame them at all. If she were in the same situation, she would had snarfed a few herself. That being said, she knew Thompson to be pretty strict. She gave the boys a sympathetic smile. What can you do? At least they hadn't lost five points like she had. An extra marshmallow was worth a point anyday. AJ smiled at the professor as he agreed with her logic. See? Seriously misunderstood animals. Just because they were fierce didn't mean they were bad. You had to get to know them, and how to handle them. She couldn't wait to work with animals every day. The box was being revealed. Oh gosh. Oh gosh. Oh gosh. The anticipation was killing her. Open it. Open it. She would start a chant going but she didn't wanna lose any more points this term, thank you very much. DRAGONS!!! ICKLE BABY DRAGONS. One was sitting in the professor's hand. AJ was going to die of cuteness overload. Benny must be a cloud nine. She couldn't help but to give him a thumbs up. So cool. They were all getting their own dragon. Must. Not. Scream. She was almost fourteen years old now, and was totes mature. Umm... yeah. She was. Mmhmm. Once she had her very own dragon, all she could do was beam at him. No words. Just beaming. |
Post 1 - Super Excited Benny Say what? Henric had gotten three points taken away from him and his house because of handing off the crackers to Ilia. Benny fought the urge to snort in amusement at the happening. However Adi also got a point taken away...boo...not that the older Hufflepuff couldn't afford it. And it was because of his sweet tooth. That got a slight amused chuckle for his best friend who was always at them. But then all thoughts of Henric...and even Adi were lost as two words spoken by the professor caught his ears and full attention. Norwegian Ridgebacks...NORWEGIAN RIDGEBACKS!! Cue the inner child in the often-overly-mature 16 year old going off. There was definitely a smile on his face. He had been right and his hopes had been fulfilled in all its glory. Yeah...Professor Thompson, you were off the hook for picking Adi and Henric to help. You just made one of your students very...VERY...happy. And there was the cutest little brown head of one, poking out of the box. AWWWWWW. Dragons were lovely on their own but dragons that were made small and super cute were even more awesome. Benny sent a look to Adi. Maybe this was how he could have that dragon they were planning to have at their future home. He had to fight to keep his attention on what was being said by the professor, nearly bouncing as the small dragons were handed out down the line from student to student. And then HE had a dragon on his lap. Forget Hiccup in his arm...THIS...THIS was the best moment of his life!! |
Post 1 So Janelle's answer had been partially right. She listened as the Professor explained more about XXXXX and XXXX magical animals, making sure to take notes as he went along. And then, Dragons! Cute little teeny dragons! That's what Professor Thompson had been hiding from them. Janelle couldn't possibly have been any more excited. She was practically bouncing with enthusiasm as the tiny creatures were being passed down. Janelle kept passing them forward until finally it was her turn. She got a little Norwegian Ridgeback of her own, well for now anyway. She missed her griffin, Buddy, but her new friend might help take her mind off him for the time being. Janelle held the dragon in her hand and looked him over. "Well hi here little fellow. I bet you didn't like being in that box with all those other dragons did you? Well it's OK now," She gave his back a rub and made sure to position him so she'd avoid any potential flames. "My name is Janelle and I'm going to be your new friend. But you need a name don't you?" Janelle would have to think about that for a while. She needed a name that would suit her dragon, but she had to get to know him better first. |
Post 1 Sweet Merlin. This puff was finally able to finally handle a little dragon. A Norwegian Ridgeback no less. He was smiling in glee. He had one dragon sitting on his lap and he was gonna take care of him. He was gonna give him the best day of his life. Kace looked down at his dragon and smiled. "Hey little guy.." He began to pet the top of his head and he/she seemed to like it. I mean it's eyes were closed in pleasure and its tail was wagging. He grinned and now he needed to name it. But wait he needed to check if it was a male or female first. This one seemed like the largest and usually females were larger to be more dominant so he assumed that. "Well since I assume your a girl, I will need to think of some names for you.." he began to brainstorm some ideas. He didn't want to think of stereotypical names since obviously his parents didn't for him. |
Post 1 - Question ... Adi and Henric lost points? Seriously? Lux found that surprising, and shook her head though she wasn't annoyed. It was more amusing than anything, because they had been food hogs. They both got a small smile from her out of sympathy because she could totally understand the temptation that snacks presented. THAT WAS WHEN DRAGONS HAPPENED. Little baby dragons. Oh gosh, this just made her day because she was going to be able to handle a baby dragon. Bay was so hearing about this later. Dying a little on the inside because cuteness overload, Lux watched as Professor Thompson began passing the dragons around. When it was her turn, she gently held the little thing in the palm of her hand before petting it with her finger. "Hello," she cooed. Hmm, was it a boy or a girl? She wasn't sure. Curious, she raised her hand. "Professor Thompson, how do you tell which gender they are?" Because that could be important when naming the dragon. |
WHOAAAA. Kate couldn't wait to owl home and tell her mom all about this lesson! Her mom was a Dragonologist, and she worked with dragons on a daily basis. Kate felt somewhat special tending to something her mom worked so closely with. The two had never talked about dragons and how her mom handled them, but Kate was suddenly wishing they had at least once. Instead, she was pretty much going into this blindfolded. She was hesitant about it, too. I mean, it wasn't often you just walked up to a dragon and pet it under its chin! Wasn't there school motto something like, 'Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon'? Kate inched closer to a nearby dragon, hoping it realized she meant no harm. They WERE harmless, right? Size surely didn't equal innocence. "Hey, little guy. ... Or girl." Who knew? "I'm Kate." Not that the dragon understood any of that... |
Post 1 Oh, a DRAGON? That was pretty cool, although Dot was concerned that her clothes would end up smelling like smoke and cooked ginger. She eyed the dragons from her seat by the fire, making big eyes at their little ridged heads and the eager flicker of tongues and flashing of teeth. Weeeeeell. Okay. It wouldn't hurt just to hold one and feed it marshmallows and give it a name and be best friends and possibly sneak it out under her jumper. And she would definitely smell like smoke if she tried that. SHE WOULD MISS LORENZO THE GRIFFIN FOREVER. But look. Now she had a dragon. Gimme dragon. |

Post 1 - Oh my pradaa. DRAGONS! WHa...whaat?! Henric nearly choked on his marshmallow when the professor took away points from his house. Seriously what was up with the professors whenever he and Adi were together. They weren't even causing trouble and did what they were supposed to do, handing out each one to their classmates like good boys.. Anyhuu, whatever resentful thoughts vanished into thin air when the professor revealed what was hidden in the box. Henric's eyes widened at the sight of miniature dragon on his hand. He was trembling...literally shaking with great excitement! Oh merlin...oh great haven of dragons! Forget about the housepoint losing! They were going to hold dragons and they get to name them too?! "Gimmeh...Gimmeh..."he thought impatiently, he couldn't contain it anymore.TOO excited. He held the little dragon on the palm of his hand, hoping it did not scare hi-...nope...her.Definitely a her. He could tell by stroking its back."Aren't you a beauty...I'm going to call you little 'Thumbelina' from now on,you remind me of that muggle story..yes you are..."he cooed. |
Post 1 Say what? A point for eat a marshmallow before anyone? Did he STILL have to eat it anyway? And he HAD allowed everyone to take extra, himself only taking two. A poor Henric. Always loosing more points than he was. Hey! Point loss! Adi found this funny! So far, he had lost a total of eight point since coming to Hogwarts, all eight from Flamsteed. Now he had one more to add to the list and Thompson's name to go along. He caught AJ's smile and smiled back at her. He was okay, AJ. At least he had had the honours of having the first treat. Adi had just came back to his group, when he heard Benny's response to Henric. Was it just him or did he seem kind of rude? He nudged his best friend lightly in the side. "Be a nice Dragon.'' The Liondragon had nothing to worry about when it came to Henirc. Or any other Dragon loving folks. .................... Speaking of Dragons... Did Thompson say NORWEDIGIAN RIDGEBACKS? Adi's head snapped in Benny's direction then in Henric's and Ilia. He knew all three of them were fond of the creatures, Benny probably being the biggest fan. He tilted his head at his Professor, listening to this talk about the Sanctuary. Benny needed a real dragon someday and Adi had made it his goal to get him one. Henric too. He had overheard Ethan singing something about Dragons and an uncle or cousin of his who worked with the creatures and the Hufflepuff had made up his mind to corner the Slytherin to find out more about this and to see if this uncle/cousin could help with his dragon mission. EEEP! But it was time to meet ACTUAL dragons! Adi wondered if he should slip away and let Benny and Henric bond over the creatures. Yeah, that would be good. Leaving his belongings and hoping the two would take initiative, the sixth year jumped to his feet and cautiously approached one of the babies. Cautiously because he did not want to scare it. "Hiya, little fella! How's it going?" he held out his hand and allowed the dragon to hop onto it. Only thing was, the thing ran up his arm and took a seat snugly on his right shoulder. Awh! It was SO trusting! |
Post 2 Right. She needed to check the ridges and teeth. Lux could do that. After nodding to Professor Thompson in understanding, she continued to coo at the little dragon as she did a thorough look over. Right. It was a boy. "I'm going to call your Freddy." She didn't know why, but she thought the name suited him. Now that was out of the way, they could get to know each other better. "You are so cute," Lux said as she began running her finger along the ridges of his back up to his head, so that he let out a small spray of fire like Professor's Thompson's had. "Cool." So long as her hair and/or eyebrows didn't get singed off she had no problem with a little bit of fire. Probably wouldn't do her marshmallow much good though if she held it out in front of him on a stick and he did that. Smiling, she continued to pet Freedy as she cooed to him. "I think we are going to be the best of friends, don't you? You little cutie patootie." |
post 1 Angel was looking very shocked when she saw what was under the cover, after all she was muggle and well her fairytale books and the films she had seen put them in a bad light. "Dr.....dra....dra.....dragon!!" Angel stammered, she was scared, she was very scared. Angel had heard about the dragon that had kidnapped a princess and then there was the one that tried to damage a boat. Angel looked around to see what Benny was thinking, of course he was totally excited since he loved dragons, she would have to speak to him about his choices later, they were scary were dragon. Angel nervously walked over towards a dragon. "Ni....ni....nice dragon!" Angel said nervously as she continued to walk towards one. |
1 + professor Toby made a move to grab the chocolate syrup bottle at the exact moment that it scooted off out of his reached. The Hufflepuff blinked as his fingers closed around air, then squinted after the syrup when he saw who it moved closer to. WELL THEN. That was fine. Toby just sat back again, sipping at his juice box, narrowing his eyes, ... Wait... GAAAASSSSSPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DRAGONS. BABIES. SO SMOL. TINY SMOL BABY DRAGONS. Toby's eyes widened and his jaw dropped and he dropped the juice box he'd been drinking from. He continued staring for a few moments before even realising what he'd done, at which point he quickly picked it back up again and drained the remainder of the drink with a SLLUUURRRRP so that he was READY FOR A DRAGON. "When do they turn back to normal size?" the Hufflepuff blurted out his question as he passed dragon after dragon along until there was nobody left to pass it to and he was left with his OWN Norwegian Ridgeback. Yes. His. "Soon? Is it automatic?" He was asking for a friend. A friend who might attempt to borrow one, y'know? Just for like ONLY A FEW MINUTES because obviously they needed to be sent BACK to the sanctuary, unless Thompson got to keep them for longer. Toby...'s friend had a dark space under his bed that was dragon-friendly, see? But if it was gonna RANDOMLY GET BIGGER then that could be an issue, see? Toby held his dragon up now, in cupped hands, so he could look at it eye to eye. Wooooooow. This was SO COOL. "Hi. I'm Toby, and I'm not a dragon. What's your name, and do you like cuddles?" The dragon made that weird little hiccoughing noise. Toby nodded. "Got it." |
Post 1 Ilia smiled brightly when she was told that she was correct, it always made her pleased with herself. She couldn't help but get a slightly curious look on her face when the student after her said 'other girl'. Did he mean her? The little blonde scanned her blue eyes over at the boy and then looked back to the professor, who called her by her surname. Had she seen that boy before? ......She probably needed to acquaint herself with more of her classmates. The professor held her attention completely until he said a magical word.......'Norwegian Ridgebacks'. Her favorite dragons of all time! One the lid of the box was aside and the beautiful little brown head popped out and 'hiccupped' she couldn't help herself. "Awww." She tried to stay as quiet as possible, but it was the cutest thing ever! She still paid mind to her professor, but as soon as it was evident that she could hold one, all bets on her attention being anywhere else were lost. Names!? They got to love and play with and name them!? Her concerns about Sindri were eased a little now that there was a little Ridgeback on her arm. As she gently stroked the creatures spine , it spit just a little bit of fire and she had to suppress a squeal of excitement. With the little dragon perched contentedly on her as she petted it , she was the happiest that she had been since coming to Britain. Her pure elation was clear on her face as she looked to the friends beside her. She grinned broadly at Benny as she saw him and his dragon, then Adi and his little charge, and finally back at Henric. Her poor best friend, the fact of the crackers and the points didn't even register for her. She had no interest in any of the food and had only sat the things beside her , not caring about it. She had been too focused elsewhere to be bothered with it or the fact that he had lost points. Right now , she was just looking at him happy as could be that she had a little dragon. |
Post 2 Benny felt a nudge when Adi returned to their group after delivering the marshmallows to the class. Wha? Did his friend realize the inside joke of the point loss. Nope, he was lightly reprimanding him for Henric. He would have scowled at his best friend in response, hurt, had things not moved on when they did. The Gryffindor WAS being a nice dragon. Could you imagine the points loss if he did something he wasn't asked to? -------------------------------------- Right....gender would be a good thing to know...name-idea-wise. Thankfully Lux had thought of it because his brain was mush right now with the small dragon in his presence. Benny had taken to stroking the creature upon it's head and occasionally down the back. So let's read it in the ridges. It didn't seem so pronounced or at least really sharp so he was thinking a boy, especially in comparison to the sharper looking ones on Henric's charge that he had claimed female. "You like that boy?" he asked, finally finding his voice as the little guy seemed quite content by his attention and touch. As for the name of his charge, the sixth year tried to get his brain to work enough to remember the list of names he had been gathering for appropriate names for dragons. You know, when he actually had a dragon of his own, like the one Adi promised him at one point. Cue look in friend's direction only to see Henric and Ilia. Huh? Oh, there he was a few feet away with his own dragon leaving Benny confused. "How about Aiden?" the Gryffindor asked rhetorically. One of the 'fire' names he had looked up at one point. Benny had switched his touch to the chin, giving it a gentle rub as he debated the name. It was then he got a small spark of fire from his companion getting a chuckle out of the human as he seemed pleased with himself. "Okay...Aidan it is then." |
Post 2 Adi flopped down back on a blankie. His dragon really seemed to be enjoying itself up there on his shoulder. He didn't mind really as long as it did NOT sneeze in his hair. Smoke nor fire. Nooooo, thank you. He reached up and found the baby dragon's head. "You'll need a good name, little fellow. Any suggestions?" Because Adi was totally all ears for opinions. Of course he could not get a reply from the creature. It started examining his right ear, its snout dangerously close to the organ. "Hey, no sneezing or breathing fire, okay?'' Though the burns may be minor. But still, prevention was better. Mhmm. Still patting the creature, Adi kept on thinking of a name. He had already checked out the characteristics Thompson had told Lux and came to the realisation his dragon was a dude. Why was he blanking on names today? Think, think, think! Oohhh! He got it! "I'll name you Reptar!'' Yesh, it was a PERFECT name. The Hufflepuff liked it. "Hiiiiii, Reptar! Nice to meet you!'' Reptar poked its snout at his ear. It seemed like it liked its name too! |
Post 3 Benny was thankfully coming down from his original blinding high at the thought of working with a dragon, at least a little. Enough to notice what was going on around him as Aidan decided to paw around his lap as he sat indian style on the blanket he was on. The occasional pressure on various points of his leg at least gave him away to track his charge and not have to keep a strict eye on the creature. Not that he didn't like to anyway. The Gryffindor giving the dragon another rub on his head as it came near his hand where it rested again. He still wasn't sure why Adi had moved away from them. Was it to give the dragons room so there wasn't too many together? Or was he a bit overwhelmed being surrounded by the two dragon lovers on either side if him? That was the one main thing he and Henric had in common after all. "Got your shoulder-dragon after all..." he mused aloud, commented towards Adi, whose dragon was seemingly playing with the Hufflepuff's ear. As long as it didn't further encourage his bestie to want to try him smaller when he tried out the dragon form. The one tranfiguration was nerve-wracking enough...the other just added to it. Scratch...scratch...scratch...for you Aidan. Another rumble of fire was the response and Benny simple smiled. |
Post 3 Before Adi could utter another word, Reptar was scuttling up onto his head O__O What was it with creatures and his hair? His fairies, Ana and Boom, also loved his hair. AJ had competition. Hehe. Reptar pulled on some strands. “Ouch! Careful there, buddy boy. Don’t want to render me bald, do you?’’ The Ridgeback weighed not much so it didn’t bother him one bit the dragon was up there. If it did, Adi didn’t notice, anyway. He glanced up so that his eyes went crossed slightly. “Enjoying the view?” He could feel Reptar padding about up there and suddenly Adi was looking a tiny tail as it swung down, almost hitting his glasses. WOAH! Best get those out of the way. He snagged the specs to stow them in his robes. He turned his head now to look at Benny and Henric. Had their mutual love for these creatures drawn them to be talking properly? Hmph. It didn’t seem so. Adi was starting to see that his best friend was getting stubborn. Or maybe he was still insecure? Yeah, that'll be it. Oh, hey! The bestie caught him looking apparently. He grinned. “I did. Doesn’t mean I still don’t want to turn you into a tiny shoulder dragon.’’ Hehe. Big Benny-Dragon and little Benny- Dragon. It was a must for the Hufflepuff. Adi tilted his head. “Why don’t you check to see how Henric is doing with his dragon. I’m surprised neither of you fainted out of excitement when you saw them. Still grinning, he began to coax Reptar down. “Come on, Reptar. I know you like the view but let’s talk down here.’’ Unfortunately for him, he had a stubborn dragon. Hehe. Reptar refused to budge and its only response was a tug on Adi’s hair. “Fine, fine, fineeee,’’ he responded with a laugh. “You can stay up there as long as you don’t rip out my hair.’’ Or set it ablaze. |
Post 1 (Jumping back in to play c:) Hady hadn't said more then two words since she arrived at this lesson. She had greeted Professor Thompson and taken a seat that was all. The third year was so quiet it was like she might not have even been there or possibly she was in a world all of her own. That just wasn't the case though, at least not today. There just simply hadn't been anything she needed to say and therefore choose to keep silent taking everything in. The unveiling of the box and the small brown creature head that peered out over it instantly captured the girls attention causing her to sit up a bit straighter. Dragons. They were going to be working with DRAGONS! Listening quietly to everything that was being said by the professor Hady calmly accepted her small dragon without an ounce of fear when it was passed to her. Holding it in the palm of her hand she lifted it up to her face checking her new friend out. She'd worked with dragons before, rode on them even but those were transfigured from rocks. This. THIS was a real one. Smaller yes but still very much real. Running a finger lightly down it's spine she was able to tell just how sharp those little ridges along it's back were. This was a girl. A girl that needed a name. "Hey little one..I'm Hady and we're going to be friends for a bit..." she told the dragon watching as it moved from her hand up her arm digging it's small talons into the material of her robes to keep it's grip. Barely flinching at the feeling she kept calm and relaxed as her new friends made it's way up onto her shoulder and then back around her neck through her hair. "Peek-a-boo" Hady whispered turning her head to look towards the dragon as she poked her head out through Hady's hair making the brunette laugh. "Boo...what do you think of that hmm? It might not be all big and powerful sounding but that doesn't matter. I bet you anything you're the mightyest of them all." Mhmm no doubt about it. Boo the newly named dragon gave a small hiccup cough like sound a tiny puff of fire coming from her mouth which Hady took as a yes to the name. "Easy there Boo, no setting me a flame please." She laughed quietly reaching upwards to remove the dragon from her hair setting her down on her lap once more. |
#1 DRAGONS? So THAT'S what Professor Thompson meant by something that would never be allowed at the school. This was WICKED COOL. Zander was super pumped, could Thompson tell? 'Cause he hadn't stopped grinning since the Ridgeback thing was even mentioned. Ahem. Food. Dragons. CoMC. What else could a person possibly want? This was the liiiiife. As long as Zander was concerned at least. Ahem. So when he got his very own minidragon, he was absolutely elated. But the naming thing would be difficult. Zander wasn't good at this. His crup had been called 'noname' for the first two months. How was he supposed to name a dragon that was JUST put into his hands without any prior planning. "So uh, you got any hobbies?" 'Cause that could help narrow things down....? Maybe. Except dragons couldn't talk, obviously. So instead the little guy just spat out a ball of fire into the air. Riiight. |
Post 2 & we have a question :3 She had a dragon. She had a dragon. She had a dragon, hey, hey, hey, hey. Speaking of tiny dragons, AJ couldn't help but to wonder about a tiny unicorn. Yes, it was always going back to that creature. Thompson had just better get used to it because that was not going to change about her. AJ raised her hand. "Is it possible to have a tiny anything? Like, it would be super cute to have a unicorn that I can carry around in my shirt pocket. It could hang its little unicorn head out, and we can take a nice bike ride together..." Get to the point, Valentine. "So, it is possible to have a tiny unicorn?" Because she wanted one of those too. Oh, great question, Lux. AJ looked at her own dragon. "Let's see what you are." She ran a finger down the ridges on the dragon's back. That definitely felt pretty sharp. Teeth check. Yup, this was one fierce female dragon she had. Cool. It had been a long time since she had a female creature. She always seemed to attract the boy ones. Her dragon needed a name, and it needed to be fierce. A name popped into her head immediately. "Regina!" Perfect dragon name. "You like that?" AJ couldn't be sure, but she thought she saw a smile. Regina it was then. |
Post 2 Janelle was continuing to bond with her dragon when Professor Thompson gave them some more information. Ahhhh, how to tell the boy dragons from the girl dragons. Janelle just felt that her dragon was a boy, but she figured it was best to check. She wouldn't want to give a girl dragon a boy's name. That would not be cool and she certainly did not want to confuse the little guy. As she continued to stroke her dragon's back, she paid particular attention to the ridges. She was not feeling brave enough to try to check his teeth. That just didn't seem like a good idea, him being a fire breathing dragon and all. The dragon's ridges didn't feel particularly sharp to Janelle. Of course, she didn't have anything to compare them to. Based on her cursory check, she decided that he was indeed a boy. Well now that we know you're a boy, you definitely need a name. Janelle set him down on her blanket to observe him. She continued to pet him and love him up as much as her dragon would allow. He seemed to like receiving her affection as much as she enjoyed giving it. That surprised Janelle because she never thought of dragons as particularly cuddly. Maybe his small size had something to do with it. Janelle thought and thought, but she was having a tough time coming up with a proper name for her dragon. "Hmmmmm......what should I call you? I know. How about Sparky? Do you like that?" 'Cause he didn't exactly make big flames, 'cause he was little and......they looked like.....well anyway. The dragon did not seem to protest so Sparky it was. |
Post 3 It seemed that Freddy wasn't satisfied with sitting on her palm, because he started scurrying all over her. One second he had hopped down onto her lap, and the next he was climbing up her arm so that he could perch on top of her head. Snort. "Guess you like the view," she said with a laugh before wincing slightly. His little claws were digging into her scalp, but fortunately it wasn't too bad. "You're lucky you're so cute." Nah, she didn't mind it really; not like he was hurting her or anything. Arya's scratches could be a lot worse. Trying to not too make much movement, Lux sat herself down in a more comfortable position. "Hey, do you mind helping me roast my marshmallow, Freddy?" Or they could just stay like this because he looked really comfortable where he was. Looked like Adialso had his work cut out for him.She smiled at him. "I like your new hat." Wink. |
Post 2 Smoothing a finger along Boo's spine Hady continued to speak with her newest creature friend. "I've ridden on a dragon before, twice actually. It was really epic. Probably one of the most best experiences I've ever had..." she whispered truthfully. What was better then getting to ride on the back of a dragon? Nothing. Nope nothing. Well expect maybe this. Just sitting here with one on her lap. And well Boo wasn't sitting. No. She was currently scampering back and forth across Hady's lap stretching her wings out and then folding them back in. Laughing quietly Hady slipped her hands underneath Boo scooping the dragon up as she moved to stretch her legs out in front of her, the action earning her a annoyed hiccuping sound from her dragon. "Alright, alright there you go." Shaking her head trying not to lay she set Boo down on her lap once more to which said dragon began to scamper down her left leg to her shoe and then right back up over her right leg. Not one. Not twice but three times this was done before Boo looked at her. "Having fun there?" Hady asked setting her hands down on the ground behind her and leaning back slightly on her palms. Her answer was simple. The continuing of down e leg and up the other. Clearly this was fun to her friend. At least she wasn't digging her crawls into her. |
#2 Okay. He was officially stumped. This naming thing was going to be a lot harder than he thought it'd be. Which was saying something because he wasn't exactly expecting a walk in the park. HM. Dragon. What would a dragon want to be named? Something epic, probably. BUT WHAT? "How about... Scales?" The tinsy dragon let out a snort of fire at that one. "Okay, okay... Maybe not..." Uh. Merlin. Where was the creativity? He needed a Ravenclaw. "Thrasher? Do you like that?" Man. If dragons were capable of pouting, Zander was sure his was. So maybe not that one either. These names were GOLD though. Much better than anything he could come up with for his crup. "I could just call you noname too, if you want." OKAY, OKAY IT CLEARLY DID NOT WANT. That much was evident with the fireballs he was spitting out aga-- Wait a minute. "Fireball!" Perfect. A perfectly feisty name for a perfectly feisty minidragon. Ha. Zander did well. "So fireball, y'wanna help me roast some marshmallows?" Y'know, despite popular opinion... Dragons are very cute. Or maybe that was just the mini ones. |
2 Toby's dragon's name was Sparky, apparently. And he definitely knew this because Sparky had said so, and not because it was just the first name that came to Toby's head when the dragon made it's tiny smol dragon noise. No idea about the cuddles, though, because apparently Sparky hadn't had much in the way of those before. "I know the feeling, Sparky. I get them now, though. And they're super great." That part was whispered, in case anyone had heard the dragon 'talk'. Hmmmkay, so... Toby supposed it would be a good idea to find out if Sparky was a boy or a girl. He'd only sort of been half paying attention to what Thompson had said in response to Lux earlier, but he knew it had something to do with the teeth. "Show me your teeth, Sparky," he said to the teeny tiny dragon, baring his own to demonstrate. Sparky declined the invitation, and instead began scaling Toby's arm to get up to his shoulder. "... This can count as a hug, if you like, 'cause you're kinda hugging as you climb." Sparky seemed to ignore him, and soon enough was perched on his shoulder, so close that when Toby turned to look at the creature, he had to lean his head back and go a little cross-eyed to be able to see. At least, with sparky this close, it was easier to see the teeth because of the cute way the dragon's mouth hung open a bit. Of course, Toby had no point of reference, which made it... tricky. In the end he settled for watching and listening to those closest to him, to see if their dragons' teeth (and ridges, yes, Toby remembered that now) resembled Sparky's. "I think..." Toby finally declared, addressing the dragon who had by now climbed up to the top of his head and perched there. "You're a boy. I mean... I'm sure you knew that. I guess I could have asked, but I didn't want to be rude." He couldn't tell how Sparky responded, being that he was... on Toby's head and therefore out of sight, so the Hufflepuff cupped his hands again and held them out to make a new perch. The result was instantaneous, and Toby heard the flapping of wings and felt his hair ruffle as the air was disturbed, and then Sparky was back in his hands again and-... "Ow." Toby blinked and lowered his hands again to see the dragon. Sparky had landed, and then proceeded to go straight for one of Toby's fingers and give it an experimental bite. It sort of really hurt, but Toby didn't mind. He watched for a moment as Sparky gnawed at his finger, looking back at Toby out of the corner of his eye like a puppy who was knew it was doing wrong. ... "I'm gonna need that back soon." Just, y'know... FYI. But he could keep chewing for now, as long as he didn't, uhh... break the skin. |
Post #1 Dragons... Dragons..... They were going to work with mother freaking DRAGONS. Beverly had to remember to breath and calm herself down before receiving the creature in her hands. Too. Much. Excitement. She was going to explode from it, she was sure. Beverly didn't want to name it. Naming something builds attachment, but it also builds a bond, and she had a feeling that was part of whatever activity they were going to do. Welp. It was going to be a long while until she was this close to a REAL dragon, might as well indulge in the moment. NAME. She needed one. "Are you a boy or girl?" she asked it, mimicking its wide-eyed gaze and head tilt. HI! |
Post 3 Well it was official. Janelle thought she had the cutest, smartest and generally best overall dragon of all the mini Norwegian Ridgebacks. There was no doubt in her mind that it was true. Sparky was frisky and energetic, but he still liked to be cuddled. What more could a girl ask for? Janelle took turns playing with Sparky and petting him. She could do this all day. Janelle loved, loved, loved her animal friends. The only bad part was, she got super attached to them and then had to give them up. Well, she would make sure to enjoy Sparky while she could. "Hey Sparky", Janelle said. "You want to play a game?" Janelle sat down and let the dragon climb over her. It was kind of like a dragon obstacle course, no? Sparky seemed to like it. He climbed over one leg and then onto the other. Janelle paused every now and then to give him a pat. "You are the best dragon ever, Sparky. I hope you get to stay here for a while." That way they could become even better friends. |
Post #2 Females had sharper ridges and teeth. Yes, yes. She knew this, as well as the females being more ferocious. Beverly just loved that. Carefully she tilted the dragon's chin up, and smirked when the scaly creature bared its teeth at her. "You don't like that, do you." From what she's observed, her dragon seemed to have an edge on the teeth and scales meaning it was a girl. And if it wasn't, well, she'll do her best to give the dragon a name for both genders. "Ash." That works. And as if on cue, Ash breathed small flames. "Are you boasting? You're totally boasting." Her dragon was boasting. This made her proud. |
3 *didn't realise there was another Sparky oops* *YOLO* *SPARKY 2.0* He didn't... seem... to be letting go. Um. Uhhhhhh. What do? Toby looked around at everyone else, interacting with their dragons and stuff, and then glanced at Professor Thompson. No. NO. He, TOBY, LORD OF THE DRAGONS, would sort this out himself. He was the Creature Whisperer, after all. Well... actually he was the Fairy Whisperer, BUT really dragons were just misunderstood fairies except bigger and with more Xs and liked to bite fingers and breathed fire and- WAIT. That was it. THE PERFECT PLAN. FOOL PROOF. Maybe. Toby uncupped his hands and Sparky, still with his teeth firmly clenched on his finger, simply dangled there, quite clearly happy. THEN Toby put his MASTER PLAN into action. Professor Thompson had told them how to make the dragons breathe fire, and Toby, in all his wisdom, reached out with his free hand to rub gently at Sparky's neck with the back of one of his fingers. At once, Sparky inhaled through his itty bitty nostrils and blasted a jet of fire from his mouth, letting go of Toby's finger in the process. "... OW. OW." WOAH BOY. Toby had attempted to get his finger out of the way, realising at the last second that he would, quite literally, be in the line of fire, but managed to catch a decent blast of it seeing as he was being careful not to accidentally fling Sparky across the room. Sooooooo... yeah. That hurt. More. It wasn't a terribly bad burn or anything; it mainly felt like that one time he'd trying to grab a pan from the oven with his bare hands, except all concentrated in one finger. Toby, having made sure to carefully catch Sparky with his good hand so he didn't fall while breathing fire, did his best to shake it off. Just shake off the pain like nothing happened. Nothing to see here. Nooooope. But also ouch. BUT ALSO NOTHING HAPPENED. But ouch. He hadn't said 'ow', he'd said 'cow'. #moo "It's okay, look," Toby reassured his kinda baby dragon, who was looking curiously up at him, and held out his burned finger to show he was still in one piece. But... not too close to the dragon, in case he wanted to bite again. The Hufflepuff grinned despite the double injury (teeth + fire), and held Sparky up to his face. To nuzzle. He was nuzzling a dragon, yes. They were best friends now. "I love you, Sparky." Even if you did try to eat me. The fire was my bad, though. |
1 Huh. Iiiiiiiiinteresting. Norah tried to make Professor Thompson's words stick in her brain because sitting cross-legged on the floor with some very delicious marshmallows to attend to really wasn't the best situation for note taking. She looked down at her sticky fingers and opened and nibbles a lingering bit off marshmallow off her thumb as Professor Thomsoon talked and talked about all the X's (but not O's, which was a shame because X's and O’s were the best when they were together). At the word dragon, though, she looked up so quickly that a stray curl for stuck in the stickiness that was her fingers. Whooooops. With a grimace she yanked her hand away, which was totally worth the pain because DRAGONS! That was RADICAL. The fourth year slapped a hand over her mouth to keep from squealing like a CHILD (which she wasn't) would at the sight of the pure AWESOMENESS that was the baby dragons. She reached the other hand out to one, eyes widened in awe. This was even cooler than those dragons in transfiguration that time. This was the REAL DEAL. |
Post #3 Beverly had a feeling her dragon knew it was the deal. She gently rubbed the side of Ash's neck. The creature roared, letting out a stream of flames. CAN SHE PLEASE KEEP IT? Her dad would pay all the money asked. Beverly wanted this dragon. Maybe she could sneak it out. Maybe. In the meantime, she set Ash on her lap and levitated a marshmallow in front of the curious dragon. "Burn it. Roast it if you please." Ash tilted her head, looked up at Beverly, and flapped her wings. She made to snap at the marshmallow, but seeing Beverly wasn't going to give it up so easily, the Norwegian Ridgeback huffed a stream of flames toward it, effectively turning it close to ash. Beverly wanted to keep it. |
Post 3 Back and forth. Back and forth. Down her left leg, over onto her right and up the leg. A glance at her was followed by a snort, did dragons snort? Maybe it was a huff. Hady didn't know but Boo did this over and over again until Hady was getting dizzy watching. "Okay, let's do something else, yeah?," the Slytherin suggested laughing. "How about peek-a-boo hm? You kinda played that before..." If hiding on her shoulder in her hair counted for anything. Sitting up she reached forward with her palm up gently nudging Boo's foot with her hand. As if the teenie dragon knew what she wanted it stepped right up onto her hand curling its front claws over her thumb causing her to winch a little bit. "Easy there..." Lifting her free hand she held it in front of the one with Boo blocking the dragons view of her. And that wasn't a good idea! "Ow.." She muttered pulling her hand back when her fingers came in contact with a small but very hot burst of flames from her little friends mouth. That she hadn't expected... "Uh I guess that game is out..." Hady muttered shaking her slightly burnt hand a little. Boo didn't seem to take notice to what she'd done using this moment to once more make her way up her arm onto her shoulder where she seemed to kinda lay, pushed up safely against Hady's neck, claws clinging into her robes. "Well I guess if you really like it up there..." Might as well leave her be. It was better then getting burnt again. |
Post 3 Now that she had her dragon's name down, it was time to get acquainted. "My name is AJ. AAA JAAAAY." Easy, yeah. "And you are Regina." Yeah, she had already told the dragon that, but a little review never hurt anybody. Unless it was AJ that had to be the one reviewing. Then PFFFFT... you could forget that. AJ pet the dragon over and over. It felt so cool to the touch. Beaming and petting, the dragon probably thought she was mental. And really, she wouldn't be wrong. Mental people made things more fun though. Never a boring day with AJ around. Nope. The fourth year leaned in and kissed the dragon on its little dragon head. This was so cool. "How about you roast some marshmallows for me?" As is she was going to roast them the muggle way when she had a flippin' dragon in her palm. She set Regina down in her lap, and got a marshmallow ready. "All you have to do is be super cute, and let your fire out." Be one with yourself. You can do it. AJ rubbed the dragon under its chin. Come on. Come on. Puff went some fire. "Wicked job, Regina." AJ slapped that baby on a graham cracker and... OMNOMNOMNOMNOM How rude. She didn't even offer Regina a bite. Sorry, dragon. It wasn't anything personal. AJ was just REALLY in love with food. It was lucky thing she didn't bite her own finger while she was shoving the fluffy goodness in her eager mouth. |
Post #2 It was probably time to check and see if her little dragon was a girl or boy. This was so different seeing them in miniature form, she was used to seeing the full sized adults at her uncle's facility. She looked around at all of the dragons, mentally comparing their ridges to her own dragon. It seemed to be decidedly female, her ridges were quite sharp and as Ilia prompted her flame.....it seemed that her little pearl daggers were very pointed indeed. "So, you look female.......but I suppose you can't tell me." She stroked its head and back, giving it a mixture of scratches along with it. Her lovely scales scintillated in the firelight , a beautiful sheen seemingly rising off of her delicate little features. "You are one of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen, so how about Astrid?" She asked as though the little dragon would mind, though she knew it wouldn't. It probably didn't even understand her, let alone in English. Out of habit, she started singing softly to her in Norwegian. The dragon appeared interested in the vocal change, and looked up at the fourteen year old in seeming curiosity. 'Astrid' chose to climb from the forearm laying in the girls lap and up her long golden locks, peering more intently at her face. She made little sounds of her own, which made Ilia smile. Her singing grew just a little louder, probably no more than Henric and perhaps Benny could hear. This seemed enough to keep Astrid engaged though and she began swinging a little holding onto her perch's hair, stretching her petite wings. Freya was glad that her hair was strong and thick, elsewise she might be losing some of it right now. Hopefully Astrid didn't decide to have a fire spurt while she was entertaining herself either......she rather liked her hair and keep her eyes on the dragonette as she sang to her. |
Post 2 Angel was scared, very scared, she didn't want the dragon and she wondered why the Professor had put one on her knee, she had got up as soon as she got given it, she looked around at Benny. "Hey Benny!" Angel was nervous very nervous. "Do you fancy another dragon?" Angel was totally hoping that her boyfriend would say yes, right, she had read about dragons and even small one's well they could be crazy. "I'm calling this dragon, Crazy!" Angel said truthfully because boy was she crazy for coming to lesson that was about dragons and has dragons in it. |
Post 4 Adi, Henric, Angel and Ilia It seemed he had looked over at Adi while Adi had looked over at him because their gaze had met even before his question had been fully posed to his friend. And of course his bestie had to remain stubborn about it. That was how they rolled. "Yeah...sure." Like he would let his friend do that after the other spell was cast. Adi would face one angry dragon putting his foot down in that respect. Benny might have thought to say something more when the Hufflepuff mentioned talking to Henric, his gaze flicking almost involutarily at the younger boy. Nudge---nudge. His attention drifted back down to his lap where Aidan was pushing his snout up against his arm. "Hey little guy..." he said, trying to decipher if there was a meaning to the action other than exploration or trying to get his attention. "Um...do you want to see a friend?" he asked, gingerly lifting him up in both his arms to see Henric and his dragon a little better. Did they actually know each other before and after being brought here? Or just gathered up and coincidentally together. "Aidan meet Thumbelina." That was the name the younger boy had given her...right? Seee...he was trying to connect with Henric...remotely. And then Angel was calling her name, causing him to look in her direction. "Always..." he said before catching himself. The sixth year looking mildly uncomfortable about that unconscious slip. Sure he watched dragons...when he was older and out of school...if he could manage it. "Why?" And was that singing? |
Post 3 Angel looked at Benny. "Because I don't like dragons, they are very scary, I've seen them on enough TV Programmes to know now that they misbehave." Angel pouted seriously she didn't know what her dragon would do and that was freaking her out even if she knew the Professor wouldn't let anything happen to them. "Nice crazy!! Nice crazy!!" Angel smiled as she looked at her boyfriend, this was going to be hard when they were older if her boyfriend wanted his own dragons, though she was hoping to go and explore all over the country. |
#3 Right so anyways, now that the whole name thing was solved... It was marshmallow time as far as Zander was concerned. Plus, Fireball seemed to be all for it, so why the heck not? He tried to remember how Professor Thompson got his minidragon to blow fire at the marshmallow. And in his own attempt at doing so, he gave Fireball a gentle rub on his neck until AHA fiiiyaaaaa!!! Yo marshmallow, consider yourself FULLY ROASTED. Ha. Man. Zander could just keep his dragon around all the time. Then he'd never have to worry about marshmallow roasting technicalities. Well, er, not that he ever had to worry about that in the first place. But this would be like avoiding the problem before it was even a problem. Y'know? Or had he stopped making sense again? Erm. Yeaaaaaah. Well anyways, Zander was definitely a happy camper. And this much was obvious just with one look over at him. He was happily eating his roasted marshmallow, whilst giving Fireball a massage. Oh and the juice. He was sipping his juice as well. Best. Lesson. Ever. Kuddos to you Thompson. And WAIT it wasn't even over yet! This was even better than playing with that Hippogriff a while back! Or even better than that unicorn lesson. Man. This was actually the greatest. |
2 Norah beamed and watched the little dragon closely. The ridges she was reaching out a sticky finger to touch looked extra sticky out ish and sharp. So female it was, yeah? Hehehe little baby girl dragon. "Aren't you the loveliest little thing," she cooed, running her index finger over the smooth scales. Man. That was probably the coolest thing anybody had ever felt EVER. Except maybe dinosaurs except nobody got to feel those which wasn't fair. She eyed it carefully. Naming things was not exactly something to be taken lightly. Naming a DRAGON was probably the heaviest thing she'd ever take. It looked like a Posy. She wasn't entirely sure why, but it just did, okay? Sometimes stuff just did. So, Posy it was. "You're Posy, it's official. " The fourth year beamed again and gave her a soft pat just to show how very official it was. She looooved her Posy, oh yes she did. |
Post #1 Marsha was excited. Ecstatic. Over-the-moon. Shocked. Faint. Elated. Delirious. Thrilled. Nervous. And maybe a little bit crazy. ‘cause Dragons. Norwegian Ridgeback miniture baby dragons. Was there anything better in this world? EVER? Looking up at Professor Thompson. Marsha couldn’t help the shock and awe and love and OMGGGGGGOD that she was sure was plastered over her face. Had Professor Thompson known this day was going to be happening when they had talked in his office about her working with the dragons? ‘cause he hadn’t mentioned it and that was sneaky. Gosh. DRAGONS. Her dragon. Who was a…. girl. Her second hand Grinning wildly at the baby who was moving from her cupped hand to wander up her wrist and to sniff!snort!huff at her arm. Hehe. ”Hi baby girl.” She said watching her wander around getting comfortable. ”You...need a name though… Hmmm. |
As regards to the next question, "The dragons will return to their normal size once they are safe back home." Which wasn't right now, thankfully from the looks of things. Javier looked on this particular student among the others, especially after a particular action happened. "Mr. Fuller-Thompson, come here." The dragon was tiny with its own teeth, yes, but still a dragon bite was a dragon bite. Waiting until the Hufflepuff approached him did the Creatures Professor took him by the wrist to examine the finger. Hm. It looked alright, with the exception of the little poke imprint. "See me after class." Before patting his shoulder letting him return to his original spot. "Now, who is ready to attempt to train them?" Professor Thompson then asked the whole class before continuing, "Typically the Norwegian Ridgeback has grown its wings shortly after emerging from the egg, but doesn't put any use to them for another year." So, "These dragons due to being in captivity haven't had as much opportunity to stretch their wings. So we're going to allow them the chance to." With that, Javier then held his wand up to cast a lighting spell showcasing the floating glimmering silver hoops suspended in the air all around the whole Creature Housing stable that they were residing in. Suddenly, the coverings had another use today. "Now those with longer hair will want to tie their hairs back as we will be guiding them to fly in the air through the hoops." How exactly? "A dragon gains their ability to fly with the help of their mother or father who flies below them, breathing fire out to encourage them to stay up longer." Before the worries could kick in, "Not to worry, as mentioned before the heat is very soothing to the dragons as their tough skin can endure the highest of temperatures. So with our wands we will be using the fire spell, Incendio in their direction to guide them through all the hoops to the finishing line right into the tank." Which he then pointed out to be in the far end near the other double doors that led to the Walkways. The tank was sitting perfectly perched on a table. Empty for now. "There are about 15 hoops total. The real challenge however will be on actually convincing them to take flight." Javier then held his little dragon. She was getting the name Lotte as he finger stroked the top of her head. A fiesty one though as she just missed the chance to bite at his finger. "There are a number of ways to convince them. There's the Animal Friendship charm, or just simply finger stroking the inner lines of their wings. That'll get their attention." Which he then did so, making Lotte turn her head not in a happy mood. "Stop once they begin looking towards you and then slowly hold the hand out raising it towards the air-" Which as soon as he began doing so, Lotte did not hesitate to fly away from this man. Now Javier aimed his wand towards her tail, "Cast, 'Incendio' directly under them until they start to fly in the direction you want them to. You will eventually have to get up along the way." Now it became clear what the Professor meant by them staying on the floor for the duration. "You will find near the end they will grow tired and want to rest, so you can simply use the Levitation spell, Windgardium Leviosa to set them into the tank." At last, the incentive, "Of course not everyone will finish at the same time. But to make the effort, the first three who successfully manage to guide their dragon all through the hoops and into the tank will earn extra points." Along with, "And permission to visit their new dragon friend this summer." Win, win. Yes? "Get ready and.. go." --- OOC: As mentioned you will have to guide the little dragon into the air through 15 silver floating hoops. With the use of Incendio under them and Windgardium Leviosa to land them into the tank at the finish line. This should take no less than six labelled posts. You will have roughly 48 hours from this post to complete it. Feel free to vm, pm, dm via Javy's twitter any questions you have. =) |
Post 2 / Post 1 (whoops <3) As Marsha watched the little dragon scuttle up her arm, over her shoulder and down again and then over her legs and round and round, she began feeling very glad for the jeans and long-sleeved top she had opted to wear. See? See Professor? She was prepared for almost anyttthing. ”Now baby girl, what are we going to call you?” Hmm? That was the big question now. Thinking through the Welsh names that she knew, she contemplated over a few. There were names like her baby sister Alis’ or Aderyn… but that meant bird which she thought would be pretty insulting for her girl so that was a no go. Marsha’s fingers started a soft, gentle path from the top of the dragon’s head to the base of its back before repeating. She didn’t really know she was doing it, she was simply lost in thought about the perfect name. There was Glenda, and that reminded her of their HoM Professor ‘cause she had mentioned the musical she had been named after once. Mabyn, … no. Meinir… now that was an option. It meant tall if she remembered properly. Hehe. That was fitting. ”Meinir?” She asked, moving to lightly tickle under the comfortable dragons chin. A small puff of smokey fire escaped and the red-head took that as a yes, laughing happily. ”Well then, hello Meinir… I’m Marsha. I’ll be helping to look after you.” Yup… ‘cause there was no way Thompson was keeping her from the dragons. Hehehe. Ohhh, said man was talking to them… Okay. LISTENING. ‘cause y’know… Dragons needed attention. Oh flying dragons! How cuteeee. And a dragon obstacle course! Wasn’t that even better? Marsha grinned, her finger still moving over the back of Meinir’s back. ”Are you ready to fly, girl? I bet you can do this so well. You’ll be a star.” She said, rubbing under her chin slightly before taking a deep breath. Okay, wings. She could do that. Still breathing calmly and steadily so that she didn’t upset Meinir, she smiled softly as she ran her finger over the inner wing. Woah, it felt so different. So different even, that she couldn’t figure out what to even compare it to.. however now wasn’t a good time to be distracted as Meinir wasn’t happy… Whoops! Hehe …. But think not about me, Meinir! Fly! She thought as she lifted her hand into the air. Would Meinir do it? Would she fly? Would she trust her? Would she? Come on Meinir! Make Mama proud! |
Post 1 Ilia watched the other boys here and there, but was almost solely concentrated on her dragonette. She smiled as she saw Benny and Henric interacting, but refocused on Astrid swinging in her hair in short order. As soon as the professor mentioned training she stopped her melody and looked excitedly up at him. They got to train them too!? Astrid got impatient as Ilia focused on the professor and hopped back down onto her arm. The silver hoops suspended all around the housing , which she had not noticed before, illuminated under the professor's spell. Oh my......this was going to be interesting. Ilia placed Astrid in her lap as she drew back her rather long locks and entwined them into braid. She didn't want anyone to singe it. Her dragonette appeared to be objective of the notion, her young handler had just moved her swing and she made a little grumble of her opinion about it. So......they needed to sway a young dragon's attention long enough to get it through all of the hoops and into tank.....She paid close attention to his instruction and demonstration. At first she simply had the urge to do well.....but there were also extra house points at stake which was a plus. And WHAT!? She could see Astrid this summer if she won in the top three!? Her bright blue eyes set excitedly on her dragon. "Are you ready little girl?" She knelt upward, her torso extended with Astrid on her forearm. Touching her little girl gently under her wings to get her attention, she locked her eyes onto the dragons and gave a gentle lift to her arm for her to take flight. She seemed to understand and stretched her wings, but wasn't taking off just yet. Maybe she needed a moment. Ilia wanted to win.....but she didn't want to rush Astrid either. It wasn't fair to her and was no way to earn respect from a beautiful sentient being. |
Post 1 - Training Activity Because I don't like dragons That statement confused Benny to no end. Since when? She did realize and remember what he was planning to do after graduation, and hopefully the rest of his life...right? Perhaps it was the idea of coming face to face with one, albeit a small itty bitty cute one that still breathed some fire and had claws, that got her a little nervous. She is a muggleborn Atreyu, he reminded himself. Muggles didn't always have the best stories about dragons. "Just be easy with her," Benny instructed Angel from afar. "She's just like the gryffins, the hippogriffs or the unicorns," he added in assurance. Crazy just had scales and fire instead of talons and beaks. ------------- He might have tried more but Professor Thompson was moving them onto an actual activity with their dragon friends. Guess Aidan would have to get to know Thumbelina later on or at least in the air. Benny momentarily strengthened his hold on his dragon as he moved to get to his feet, gaining a squawk and claws in his arm as Aidan scampered up to his shoulder. Could people tell how natural that just felt to him? Benjamina Atreyu---Dragon Trainer. "Now Aidan...will you fly for me?" Benny rubbing him as he moved towards the first hoop so they could begin working on the 15 of them that the man wanted them to work with. They could do this...they would work together. He knew how to show creatures that he was friendly and showing them the right way to go. Looking at the dragon on his shoulder, he opted to go for the non-magical way, his finger tracing first feather-light against the ridgeback's wings and then a little firmer. Aidan responded by opening his winds a little and watching him. "Come on my friend," he said, trying the actions again to which the dragon spread them a little wider as if wanting the attention to go further. "There you go..." Benny then tentatively raising the arm of the shoulder he was perched on, jostling his rider ever so little until it was horizontal to the ground and spread out in front of him. When Aidan seemed reluctant, Benny shifted his arm up and down just enough to seemingly prompt the dragon up into the air and the Gryffindor to smile. One flying dragon. |
Post 1 Oooh, they got to train the dragons! Awesome. Lux couldn't help but think of the movie How to Train Your Dragon. Of course there were a few differences: for one thing Toothless wasn't a tiny little thing. And for another she obviously wasn't a boy. At first the thought of blasting Freddy with fire unnerved her, but then of course...he was a dragon so fire wouldn't exactly bother him the way it did people and most animals. Curiously she watched Professor Thompson demonstrate one of the methods to get a dragon into the air. Maybe she would try the same one for the added challenge. First things first, though, her hair needed to be tied back. That was easier said than done with Freddy chilling out on her head. "Okay, buddy. Time to get to work." Gently she removed him from her hair with no small amount of difficulty. "Ouch!" Some of her hair had been pulled out. With a small sigh, Lux set Freddy down in her lap, where he began moving around. "Don't wander off," she said, amused. The last thing she needed right now was to go on a dragon hunt. After tying her hair back, she picked up up again. "Okay, buddy. We are good to go!" |
Post 2 - Training Activity (Hoop#1) Once he had Aidan up in the air, Benny lowered his arm back down to his side, hoping to keep the dragon from thinking of landing back on him. Plus he needed to get his wand from his pocket so he could use the fire spell to guide his charge. Or his son since they were supposed to be acting like the parents of the miniature ridgebacks with the flames up against their bellys. The sixth year had acquired it as Aidan tried to return to his former perch which caused him to step back. "No Aidan...you need to fly," he told the dragon as he moved move behind the dragon. "Incendio!" he cast, trying to aim at Aidan but not directly hit him. Benny didn't care if they supposedly wouldn't hurt the creatures with the flames, it still took inner pressure to take aim at his new friend/child. The dragon reacted, climbing a little higher in the air in half-avoidance half-simple reaction. The action put him more in line with the target and going in the direction of the first hoop since it was in front of him. "That's it..." Benny encouraged, "Come on little buddy...you can do it." He braced himself once more to cast another shot at his companion. "Incendio!" he cast again, aiming a little closer and nudging Aidan more towards the hoop. The dragon flew through it as if catching the hint and the Gryffindor couldn't be more proud. "You did it, Aidan." One hoop down...14 more to go. |
