| | |  Charms Lesson 2 - Capture the Fort!

Though the class is taking place at it's usual time, bright and early 9 am, there is something very different about the location. What? Well naturally even the least awake among you would notice that instead of standing in neat rows in Classroom 2E you are all headed out by the rickety wooden bridge that leads to the rest of the grounds. The trek out here should be a good waker-upper for those that need it.
The scene is as unassuming as any other with the exception of the area getting warmer and warmer as you approach. Yes, the Professor has taken care of that pesky little weather hitch that happens at this time of the year while you're here out on the grounds. There is still a bit of fog lingering but it's expected to clear up or be removed by the time the activity rolls around. The air is crisp and has a freshness to it that you couldn't get even with the wide windows of the classroom back in the classroom flung open as they usually are.
A peaceful morning really.
As you cross the grounds and come to a stop at the bridge, you find the Professor leaning against the railing with his eyes cast down into the ditch that lies below the bridge. Might be he's looking at something. Might be you can see it to. Just might be he's bored and waiting for his students to arrive; there's really only one way to find out.
Gather around, the lesson will be beginning shortly.
OOC: Class has not yet begun, be sure to brief yourselves on the rules once more before posting. I'll be moving this class in about 12-18 hrs hopefully ^^

He couldn't bare to head back to Camp Gryffindor, he was CONFIDENT that his housemates had the situation under control there, leaving him free to scout around for enemy flags. Oh how he LOVED enemy flags. They were such fun to get.
Pausing behind a tree, Zeke peered around it to where he suspected there might be something for him to get at. He wasn't wrong, he was sure that was a flag fluttering over there, partially obscured by another tree.
Stepping out confidently, Zeke side-stepped a rock and then a bush, his hazel eyes trained on the blue flag over yonder.
Nearer, he stepped nearer, closing the gap between him and his teams victory. Or well, so long as they could get ahead of the game.
When he was near enough, without anything obscuring the flag before him, he glanced around to make sure there wasn't anyone here to stop him... and then he did it. HE DID IT. He was going to TAKE OVER this flag with all his Gryffindor pride.
"Colovaria," he cast, wand pointed at the blue flag, which quickly turned red.

Okay, Lux was on the hunt for more flags!!
There were loads of them here on the enemy side, but of course some were now blue and yellow because of her awesome team mates kicking butt. Part of her, however, wanted to change them back to red. Look at her being a rebel.
Moving along as stealthily as possible, Lux darted her eyes from flag to flag. There had to be some nice red or green ones lying around here somewhere... Quigley sure had done a good job hiding them, so kudos to him.
Oooh, there was a big rock up ahead. That would be the perfect place to stick some flags.
YESSSS, a red one.
Sorry Gryffindors. She was on their team in spirit at least. Pointing her wand at the flag, Lux cast the spell. "COLOVARIA." Another small victory for Hufflepuff. |

So now they were playing capture the flag. At least, that was how Brooklyn was looking at the whole thing, as she’d remained where she’d been ever since she’d arrived at the bottom of the ravine. She didn’t see why she had to actually expend any more energy, not when it could have been just as interesting to convince everyone else to change the flags for her. She could be convincing when she needed to, but everyone was dashing around and acting like secret agents. Not stopping to give her a reason to bother to try and convince them. She’d heard Dot’s suggestion to Ethan, though, shortly before she chose to go into action. Sort of. She’d taken advantage of some of the chaos, as well as the trees, rocks and bushes around the clearing, to sneak across no mans land until she managed to gain a position behind a bush near a lot of the Claw flags.
Dot’s plan had its merits after all. Get the smart house to work for them, and it looked as if for the most part a lot of the Lions were cooperating just as much. Aside from the fact they would have to turn on them to ultimately have the Snakes win. Brooklyn had no issue with that part, as she peered through the bush to spy a blue flag several feet away. Poking her wand through the branches, pointing it straight at said flag, she quickly spoke. “Colovaria!” Her spell blended into the others being yelled all over the clearing, but the flag in question changed just as quickly to green. So there. One more down, and she was going to keep an eye on it even as she searched for another from her position.

Yes, yes. He needed to go back NOW to their camp because he just saw a GREEN flag turn to RED. Hold up, Gryffindors! They were the ones who’s supposed to be SNEAKY, not you. Ethan eyed all the Lions in his perimeter and jabbed his wand at the nearest red flag and changed it back to green. “Finite!” The Slytherin was too busy giving the red people the stink eye. They were supposed to turn the yellow and blue flags into either green or red. They were supposed to be a TEAM. Was that...was that even hard to understand?!
Merlin, Gryffindors and their hate for the Snakes. He knew it. It's way too real.
Grunting, Ethan saw another yellow flag just a few steps away, and turned it to their house colour “Colovaria!” Green.

Henric watched as his teamates charged to the other side. He spotted Ethan at the corner, changing one of his house flags into Ethan's own house colour."Yo Ethan! Change it back to yellow please!"Henric shouted to him.He shook his head and sighed.He looked back just in time to see one of the gryffindors changed the slytherin flags into one of their.Aha! There was a traitor amongst them...hehe...Gryffindors and Slytherins working together as a team...how unlikely...there were bound to be conflicts.
But Henric still not liking the green flag at their side.No no...not good...sorry green flag, you had to go. "Finite!"...He shrugged at Ethan, sorry man..."I think the reds are gaining power,mate,are you sure you guys a team? Oh they were going to play a game! It was a bit different then any capture the flag or fort game she'd ever played but this sounded pretty cool as well. Teams though, really? Gryffindor and Slytherin together as a team. That was quite peculiar but alright then this third year wouldn't be complaining...at least not right yet.
With her bright hazel eyes slowly scanning their team base while making her way over to it she did a quick judgement of whom was keeping back to protect their flags and whom was moving onto enemy territory. So far it appeared to be somewhat even to what she could tell. Alright then...she'd hang back for a bit before venturing forward. Either way she'd be helping out her team.
Shifting her weight from one foot to the other she removed her wand from it's wrist holster and slid it into her hand closing her grip around the piece of wood. She was ready to get moving the moment they were given the word. Having positioned herself slightly behind a large tree near one of her teams green flags she was able to spot a flapping enemy flag along the way that was rather well in her range. Without having to move much Hady raised her wand firmly fixing her mind on the color she wanted as she called out, “Colovaria!” effectively changing the flag from it's once yellow color to the now bright green of her own team.

Angel hadn't been able to move far she was still scared from the walk down to this place... she wasn't normally scared of heights of anything like that but the climb down here had scared her so she had got her breath back before even thinking about moving she was just about to move when she saw a red flag being changed to yellow, well that wouldn't do she loved the colour red oh and pink but she wasn't keen on yellow.
Angel pointed her wand at the flag. "Finite!" Angel watched as the flag changed back to red, now what she had to do was go and find a flag she could change to another colours, she had a feeling the professor wouldn't let her get away with playing defence all the time though technically in a game like this that would be the best idea but maybe it would be cheating, now which colour was she going to go for.

So...were there other traitors amongst them? Ethan roamed around their camp to see if he needed to fix more flags from their side before moving on. And...who in their right mind would call out someone’s name DURING a war? Seriously. “Eh...no.” Ethan replied as he turned to see Henric fix the flag he just fixed. And what about the side comment he just made? True, the Lions were getting stronger, and that’s exactly why he’s taking advantage of it. “Oh you should be worried about your house, Henric. Good. Luck.” Once the Gryffindors and Slytherins get the Ravenclaws, Hufflepuff will have to fight them on their own.
Now now, back to business. The Slytherin silently followed Henric and infiltrated the enemy’s camp once more. He was, again, at the very back, and continued to hunt for more blue flags. Yes...yes. Ravenclaw should just give up and join them. That way, they’ll win too. Soon enough, he spotted a blue banner and immediately claimed it. “Colovaria.” Blue to Green.

Capture the Fort? HE WAS SO DOWN FOR THIS. He especially loved it when they did games in the lesson. Made him a lot more motivated to learn the spells being taught. Brian looked around, and noticed a GREEN flag where a yellow once stood. Now that would just NOT do.
"Finite," he said, pointing his wand at it and positively beaming when it changed back to yellow. There was no way Hufflepuff was going to go down.
And was it just him or was there a really worrying amount of red around? He sighed, making sure that there were people manning the Hufflepuff fort before he dashed across the clearing towards the Gryffindor and Slytherin side and heading for the trees by the Gryffindor fort. He grinned. There were a bunch of flags hidden around, and he was going to make absolutely sure that at least half of them weren't red anymore by the end of the day. And there should be a lot more yellow. It was a sun colour.
"Colovaria," he whispered so as not to attract too much unwanted attention. It was turning yellow. GREAT. Now he'd just run back to the Hufflepuff fort. Can't have people turning them colours that WEREN'T YELLOW.

Not long after Clara switched one of the flags back to its original blue, she spotted several more being changed to other house colours. She had only changed two flag colours herself, so far, and she could already tell this was going to be tedious. One of Ravenclaw's flags had been turned to Slytherin-green and one to Gryffindor-red.
She eyed them both up, but red was closest.
Quickly, she jogged her way over to the red flag, dodging a few trees and bushes on the way, with her wand at the ready. As soon as she got there, she aimed her wand at the flag, imagining the colour she wanted it to turn. Blue, blue, blue, blue. "Colovaria!" It took slightly longer to change this time, but it changed nevertheless. Another blue flag rightly returned.
Clara weighed up her options again; stay and return more flags back to blue, or go out and make more blue flags.
She decided to go with the latter. | |

Oooo Benny had seen that fall by Henric. Though thankfully the Hufflepuff seemed to recover well from it. He didn't want the boy injured, even if they were technically competing against each other. He wasn't that mean, if he was even mean at all. Wait...was he supposed to not care if one got changed to Slytherin since they were supposed to be working together? Ooops. It was to save a flag of his so hopefully it was alright. And thankfully his team on the other side was helping against the likes of Lux and Adi and the rest.
Fair was fair. He didn't want Gryffindor absorbed.
Alas the younger boy had changed another nearby red flag, this time to his own house color. Nope....it was going back. And it was revertion not attacking the same house twice in a row....right? He was playing a defender after all. . "Colovaria!" he cast, aiming at the new traitorious flag. It changed, but not to a solid red. . "Colovaria!!" the Gryffindor tried again more determined. This time the yellow flag was now completely Gryffindor red.
Now onto a Ravenclaw blue...
Oh lookie...he mused to himself as he moved along the Lion/Snake territory, careful of anything to trip him. Just what he was looking for. "Colovaria!!" Ravenclaw blue changed to Gryffindor red. Were they onto the next stage yet?

Angel decided that it was time for her to go out and find a colour to change, she looked around and suddenly decided on the Ravenclaw Flag, she felt really sorry for her sisters Abby's house but well this was a game and her competitive side was coming out just like it had when she had played football in her second year... she had tried to curb her competitive side but she had failed.
Angel looked around for a flag and smiled when she suddenly saw a blue flag, well time to get changing the colour. Angel thought about the colour red as she looked at the flag. "Colovaria!" Angel pointed her wand at the flag and watched as the Blue flag turned into a red flag... this was so amazing and now she had to figure out what she was going to do next.

Seeing no one close the flag she was currently guarding Hady slipped around the back of the tree that was keeping her hidden from view. Inching forward several steps she slipped through some high brush making her way closer towards neutral ground still keep her teams flags in sight.
Ducking under a low branch and pulling a strand of hair free that had gotten snagged it Hady spotted something. A flag? She couldn't be sure just then as it had just changed color. Clearly at that she knew it was a flag and an enemy one that someone had turned back to it's proper color. With a small smirk the young girl inched closer towards it her want held firmly in her grasp.
"Colovaria!" She called out casting the charm at her chosen flag watching it go from blue to red now. Green may have been her favorite color and house but she was paired with lions. So switching back and forth back and forth wouldn't be so bad for a little while. House unity and all that you know. | |

Angel was trying to figure out if she should go back and check on the red flag when she was weaving in and out of the trees, she didn't want anyone to see her sneaking around... she was suddenly looking around on her way back when she saw another blue flag and since it seemed a few other students were going after blue flags she decided that she might as well go after another one.
"Colovaria!" Angel pointed her wand at the blue flag as she thought about the colour red, she had thought about checking to see how green looked on blue but in the end she decided that it had to be changed red, she just loved the colour red. Okay so she didn't like it as much as pink but she loved red more that green so the flag was being changed red and she smiled as she looked back again and saw that the flag was now a nice Gryffindor shade red.

Off she went into enemy territory. Snake territory.
Oh, look how tempting it was to hex Cutty in the midst of the action.
But, obviously, Clara wouldn't do that. For many reasons: she didn't want to actually cause physical or mental harm to another person, it wasn't worth the punishment, and she wanted to set a good example. Odd as it was to her, she did find that she wanted to be a good role model to younger students, and not just be remembered as the scary redhead who happened to be pretty and smart.
ANYWAY. Flags. Concentrate, Wilde.
She hid behind a tree for a minute, pointlessly surveying the land, and chose her target: a lone flag with no one guarding it. All the snakes seemed too busy attacking other flags to notice - ahem, rude - so, she rushed forward to the flag. "Colovaria," she muttered once again, envisioning the green turning to blue and smiled when it happened.
Turning back towards her own area, she looked at her options again. Take out another teams' flag or recover one of their own. She noticed that quite a few Ravenclaw flags now were Gryffindor-red and that ..... that bugged her. Whenever she thought of lions, she thought of Phoenix. So, taking all of that into consideration, she jogged back over to the Ravenclaw zone. Wow, all this exercise had been be worth it. Clara pointed her wand at one of the blue-turned-red flags. "Finite." There. Back to blue. | |

Adi had seen Hady sent a spell to his team, changing a blue one to a red. Now, since Adi had only changed one flag so far, he figured it wouldn't be so bad to change another one back to its original colour. "Finite!'' he shouted, raising his wand and darting back carefully to the direction of Hady's target. He had said that a little louder than usual because remember he had made his way closer to the Gryffindor/ Slytherin line.
Right! Now that the green flag was back to blue, Adi edged closer once again to the other team. Gosh, it was getting somewhat difficult to see flags. It seemed as fast as one team reverted them back to original colours, the other team changed it back. Yep, he was right. At this rate, the game would last a reallllly long time, yo!
Taking his time so as to avoid breaking any limbs, Adi would occasionally pause to find a red or green flag. And he did! It was hidden practically all the way behind a tree but he could see the darker green fabric against the lighter green of the leaves. Gosh, Quigley sure had found the real good places for these flags. Hehe.
This would take careful aim. Adi hated to miss soooo... careful aim it was! He waited until the breeze blew the glad some more so that there was even more fabric was visible. "Colovaria!" He focused on the bright blue of Ravenclaw. Annnnd just like that, there was one blue flag!

Zander thought about going back and playing defense… But doing this attacking stuff was far too much fun. Plus he was starting to get good at the color thing, so might as well take advantage of it while he could. AND he had definitely caught Sophie Brown changing his flag back to a Ravenclaw one, so revenge was very necessary. Hehehe. After having just struck at a yellow flag, the Gryffindor ran through a crowd of people… Trying to be as careful as he could not to shove anyone—just so you know.
And there were definitely some claws trying to play defense and guard their flags. Merlin. Of course Ravenclaws WOULD think of that. It was an intelligent move really. You know, having people at standby. But what was the point if they could just magic all the flags to their own color. That’s why Zander was pretty darn proud of the Gryffindor team. They were all about this offense playing.
And that’s what Zander intended to carry out as well.
So still he searched for an unguarded flag, because those that were guarded would just be a waste of time and OH YES THAT ONE!! Zander practically jumped for joy, but he restrained himself ‘cause that’d be such a dead give away. ”Colovaria!!” he flicked his wands towards the blue flag and POINTED.
Huzzah.
Fifty points to Gryffindor.

Were her eyes deceiving her? AJ was pretty sure she just witnessed her own boyfriend changing a flag to a color other than yellow. Was she missing something here? Obviously he had teamed up with Ravenclaw, but why? Was this some kind of strategy to gain up on the Gryffindor's because they were just too awesome to fight house on house? Probably so. We see you, puffers. And since the ravvies were on their team it meant they had to go down as well. Really, they all had to go down, but now AJ was going to make sure that they did first.
Getting even deeper into enemy territory she spotted a couple of blue flags that were spread out pretty nicely. Obviously she was going to try for the one closest to her. Work smarter not harder. Man, attacking the blue flags was kinda turning her into a ravvie, huh? No? Okay.
Rocks were flying beneath her feet in every direction as she ran her way over to the intended target. No time to watch what her feet were hitting. Hopefully not being extra careful wouldn't end up blowing up in her face. She would cross that bridge when she got there.
So close. In fact she was close enough to make things happen. With her handy dandy wand she screamed... "Colovaria." Blue was no more. Another red flag for her team. They had this in the bag, she just knew it.

So many people were moving, and so quickly, it was hard to keep up with everything. Clara's options were still very much open, though. She could go and change another flag or stay and protect her own flags. Okay, they were the same choices as before, but she was still struggling to decide. She so desperately wanted to think logically, but this game seemed to be one without logic, much to her dismay.
But, wait ..... someone was close by ...
Clara peeked out from behind the tree and saw a Hufflepuff (Adi) changing a red flag back to blue. Good teamwork. She was tempted to shoot him a shoot, but one, she wasn't a smiley person, and two, she was already off again. She watched as he bounded over to the snakes and produced another blue flag.
She could, possibly, repay the favour. The redhead glanced across to the Hufflepuff side of things, looking out for any odd flags. AHA. When she spotted one, she headed straight for it, grateful that there were no obstacles in her way, such as branches or rocks. "Finite," she cried, as soon as she was close enough, and the red flag returned to its original yellow colour.
With that done, Clara looked for another target.
A Gryffindor flag would do nicely, as they also seemed to be causing quite a bit of trouble for the Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff teams.
She jogged across the clearing, trying to keep her head in the game and not on the slight burning in her thighs. It might only be game, but she was technically being judged on it and she didn't want Professor Quigley to think she was slacking. As soon as a red flag was in range, she didn't hesitate. "Colovaria," she said, wand pointed at her target, an image of a blue flag in her mind. The spell was becoming almost second nature to her now. On to the next target. | |

Merlin this game was moving quickly. All the colors flying around, Zander was bound to get a headache at some point... But hopefully not anytime soon, ‘cause he had a game to win. Uh, Gryffindor had a game to win. Ahem. Anyways.
Merlin. He sure was getting competitive.
Also, how come people were changing flags into colors other than their own? Didn’t that defeat the purpose? Like, Zander knew that Gryffindor and Slytherin were on one side of the field… But did that really mean they were a team? ‘Cause what would happen when all the Gryffindor colors ran out, but there were still green flags? Would Gryffindor still lose? He didn’t get it. So yeah, gonna stick to his familiar red thankyouverymuch.
Speaking of which, unguarded Hufflepuff flag twelve o’clock!!
Zander SPRINTED all the way in that direction until he was sure he could get a good shot at it. Ready, aim, FIIYAAAAAAH!! Ahem. So basically, point and ”Colovaria!”

Lux felt that Ravenclaw needed some more love from her, since the last two flags she found had been changed to yellow. This time she would go with blue. An added bonus was the fact that it was the best colour ever.
Time to enter the line of fire once more, and Lux ran from behind the rock and back into the war-zone. Haha, this class was so much fun. She wished that they could play these games more often because they were awesome. Too bad Bay wasn't there to enjoy it with her...though on second thought he would have been on the opposite side. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition in a relationship.
OH, HELLO GREEN FLAG.
She had almost missed it - and in fact had to double back. Perfect target, and it would look amazing in blue. Pleased with herself, Lux pointed her wand at the flag. "COLOVARIA" Much better. | |

So, Clara definitely couldn't read minds, not at all, but she had thoughts on this 'team' thing.
She wasn't sure it they were in two teams or four, but Hufflepuff seemed to be saving an awful lot of Ravenclaw flags, so that led her to believe that they were a 'team' ..... and, well, if they weren't, it made sense to be. Especially now. More and more red was creeping across the field, so they were the immediate threat.
Speaking of which, Zander had bagged yet another red flag. Ugh. It was at this point in games when Clara began getting bored - when it was obvious they weren't going to win. Yeah, yeah, she was a sore loser, she knew.
Time to switch another colour to blue.
This time, she headed for an open Slytherin flag and repeated the colour changing process again. "Colovaria," she muttered, and watched the green flag morph into a blue one. Blue was quite a pretty colour, wasn't it? | |

Gryffindor was on FIRE he could feel it. Even though he wasn’t actually paying attention to how many of their flags still remained red behind him. There wasn’t any time to look behind, y’know? He had to focus on all of THESE ones right here! Maybe after hitting a few more of the Yellow and Blue variety, he could make his way back towards home base and play some defense or something.
Surely it would’ve been a better idea to strategize. But then again, since when did any one of his strategies ever work out properly? Never.
So with that in mind, he payed very little attention to strategy and went with his gut. How these things normally worked out in their best way. By random. Speaking of random… This entire mess of flags was starting to look pretty random as well, which meant they HAD to be doing a good job. It was starting to get hard to tell between which section belonged to Ravenclaw and which belonged to Slytherin and vice versa.
So of course Zander HAD to help with it. Was like his duty or something. ”Colovaria!” he pointed quickly at one of the blue flags changing it into a red one and ran in the opposite direction in hopes that someone like Clara hadn’t seen.
Maybe class was fun sometimes. Maybe. But homework would definitely ruin that sentiment, he was sure.

EXCUSE YOU, ZANDER.
She had seen everything. Ev-er-y-thing. Clara had been heading back to the sea - now more a pond - of blue flags when she spotted Zander or their turf. He had claimed a Ravenclaw flag as his own, and may even have looked her way after doing so.
That was just not on.
....... Now it felt personal.
She sprinted - again, sort of - back to base, going straight for the soiled flag. "Not this time, sweetheart," she muttered, and aimed her wand at the flag. "Finite." There. Red was now blue, and everything was as it should be. Now ...... targeting the lions seemed appealing. Usually, Clara wasn't the revenge type, but these were special circumstances, and her head was definitely too much in the game now.
She went straight for the nearest red flag, dodging a tree, wand at the ready. "Colovaria," she said, the colour blue in mind, and watched the red flag turned Ravenclaw-blue. Ha, in your face, Zander.
........... Now could she stop pretending to enjoy this game? Ahem. | |

Of course Zander had been running back in the direction of Gryffindor/Slytherin/Slytherdor?Gryfferin? camp, so Clara’s words were hardly audible given the distance he had managed to make between them. He wasn’t even running away, just going back to play some good ol’ defense. He’d sort of neglected that side of the game. And he actually wasn’t planning on going back to change that until he noticed one of their flags suddenly turned BLUE.
OH NO SHE DIDN’T.
He quickly whipped his head around to try and figure out WHO had been responsible for that and we see you, Clara. We SEE YOU.
Of course it was probably his fault for starting the whole thing since he had just switched a blue to red. But that didn’t mean she was allowed to switch a red to blue. Not on his watch, at least. Merlin. Ahem. He was just slightly competitive. That’s all. No big deal. Nothing to see her. Nothing to see except for a blue flag changing back to it’s rightful RED. Heheheee.
”Colovaria!” he pointed up at his flag, imagining a nice shade of deep red. In hindsight, a simple ‘finite’ could’ve sufficed, but he needed all the color changing practice he could get. Especially since he was in the middle of a war now. It meant that he had to be on his A-game. Which he was, clearly. See how quickly he managed to switch up the colors? Zander Adair was on a roooooll.
