| | Charms Lesson 2 - Capture the Fort! ____________________________
Though the class is taking place at it's usual time, bright and early 9 am, there is something very different about the location. What? Well naturally even the least awake among you would notice that instead of standing in neat rows in Classroom 2E you are all headed out by the rickety wooden bridge that leads to the rest of the grounds. The trek out here should be a good waker-upper for those that need it.
The scene is as unassuming as any other with the exception of the area getting warmer and warmer as you approach. Yes, the Professor has taken care of that pesky little weather hitch that happens at this time of the year while you're here out on the grounds. There is still a bit of fog lingering but it's expected to clear up or be removed by the time the activity rolls around. The air is crisp and has a freshness to it that you couldn't get even with the wide windows of the classroom back in the classroom flung open as they usually are.
A peaceful morning really.
As you cross the grounds and come to a stop at the bridge, you find the Professor leaning against the railing with his eyes cast down into the ditch that lies below the bridge. Might be he's looking at something. Might be you can see it to. Just might be he's bored and waiting for his students to arrive; there's really only one way to find out.
Gather around, the lesson will be beginning shortly. OOC: Class has not yet begun, be sure to brief yourselves on the rules once more before posting. I'll be moving this class in about 12-18 hrs hopefully ^^ Class Progress: First Question A little practice Going down Attacking time Reminder |

| #3 ½ EagleBrain ♥ Creeperdoodle ♥ Raven Dor ♥ Berry ♥ ½ Team House Elf He was quick to change the colour again, this time to green. "Colovaria," he had performed in a timely manner, all his focus on Slytherin green, desperate to do away with the nasty peppy yellow.
To complete the activity, Zeke then shifted his thoughts to Gryffindor red... because as nice as the green was, it still wasn't red. "Colovaria," Zeke performed again, Larch pointed at his tie, returning it to its original state. Red was gorgeous. Yep.

So yes, the tie was a little too sky blue to pass for Ravenclaw, but it wasn't red and really at that point, it was all Zander needed to give him a little confidence boost. Plus, a funny thing always seemed to happen with spell work. Like when you get the spell right once, the rest of the times kind of come a lot easier? Maybe it has to do with seeing that you're actually able to do it... Or maybe just that visual you get from the final product done right? Either way, Zander had gotten it to work so this must've meant that if he could do it once he could do it a million times over.
Okay, maybe not a million.
But at least he could try another time.
And he was going for ACTUAL Ravenclaw blue this go around. He was pretty disappointed in his effort for this baby blue tie in his hand. So again, he pointed his wand straight at it and concentrated as hard as he could. "Colovaria!" TADAAAAAAA! Ravenclaw blue. This was GREAT. Only took him a million and three times to get it right, but the important part was that he did it and he had his health. Ahem. "Colovaria!" he tried again, this time focusing on the color green that he noticed in someone else's tie. He was gonna go Slytherin! And, he managed to get it to work by the way. See, this stuff about getting it once really did make a world of difference. Zander was living, breathing PROOF.
Hopefully Professor Q only saw his successful attempts. Ahem.

Ian stared at his tie. He didn't really want to change it's colors. He loved his house and it's colors black and yellow. He was a proud badger and the idea that he needed to put another's house colors on it made him feel a bit of a turncoat. He didn't want to not participate though. He wondered if he could do something else. Perhaps....then he remembered he had a kerchief in his pocket he kept for little messes that needed a bit of a tidying up. He pulled it quickly from inside his robes and laid it before him. It was a simple white handkerchief his mum had given him as a parting gift.
Ian unfolded the fabric and looked at the square before him, pointed his wand at it and imagined the emerald green color of slytherin house. Colovaria. He watched with some wonder as it went from it's pristine white color to a deep, emerald green. It reminded him a bit of his friends from the Emerald Isles. That made it a bit easier to deal with than the idea it represented a house where so many evil wizards had come from. He rather liked the color. If he wasn't a proud badger, it might even be his favorite color.

Having arrived with two apples [one red and one green] in a napkin to keep them fresh, Marsha had smiled at their Professor and then found somewhere close by that she would be able to see him… What? She was tiny, there was no way she would be able to see over the top of the older students if she went to the back of the bridge.
Listening to the Professor as he started the class, she grinned. Oh, that was easy. ”Mostly I love my presents. My parents know me really well.” That and she was easy to please with gifts, in general. ”Though, generally if I don’t like something, I will tell people. I don’t like lying to the people I love.” Yup.
Oh, you could change the colour of something? That was… awesome. Did that mean that she could change the colour of something in her room instead of having to buy new things? That would be amazing! She could rearrange her room whenever she got bored without costing her parents a single knut. Hehehe. Bedroom lookout when she got home for Christmas!
Colovaria… Colovaria.

Brian took a breath. Charms was never really his best subject. Okay, he'd admit it: he was rubbish at anything that actually required a wand. Charms, transfiguration, the occasional potion that required charming. He was really starting to feel like maybe they'd made a mistake and he wasn't really magical at all.
NO. Of course he could do it. He was Hufflepuff; Hufflepuffs worked super duper hard until they got the hang of everything they were working at. He wasn't going to disappoint his house! He was going to turn it red. Gryffindor. Timmy'd be proud. Pulling off his tie and setting it on the floor in front of him, he pointed his wand right at it. Inhale deeply, then incantation: "Colovaria."
Nothing. "Colovaria!" he said, a little louder and more convinced. The tie's colour shifted gradually from its original yellow, darkening until it reached a bright and very happy orange. The whole tie was orange. No stripes, nothing. Just ORANGE. It wasn't even all red.
Oh, dear.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Bennett Potter Slytherin Graduated Hogwarts RPG Name: Atlas Ward Ravenclaw First Year | Activity #2 Toto * RotiSila * ToRo * Braveheart * Grandma & Mama Tori ”Colovaria. ColoVARia. CoLOvaria. Colovaria.” she rolled the words over her tongue, until she figured out how to say it properly. All of the time, she concentrated on what she wanted to do; to change the colour fully from one colour to the other. Cutty (and their professors) were always reinstating that the intent was as important as the spell and the wand motion.
Okay. She had this.
Reaching upwards, she took off her tie (what a shame! HEHEHE) and placed it over the rail of the bridge. She kept her second hand close to it so that she could stop it from blowing away if need be, but she doubted it as the fog hadn’t even risen fully yet.
Okay. Picturing a tie like her Aunt Autumn’s, Marsha pointed her wand at the tie and said clearly, ”Colovaria.” Nothing. She repeated the spell again, this time only picturing the shade of a Slytherin tie. Slowly, the tie changed to the dark green of Slytherin. Hmmm. Could she add the silver stripes as an addition? ”Colovaria!” She said, Nope. No stripes for her. Sighing, she tried two more times to add the stripes to her tie but failed each time. Okay, so she would try stripes on the next tie.
Okay, Benny. Benny’s tie was a deep blue, not as dark as navy but a dark blue all the same. ”Colovaria!” The young Lion said, aiming her wand once again at her own tie. This time, it changed from green to blue, but once again regardless of trying for a striped tie she got a simply plain one. Griffin.

Ian was pleased with himself for the first go round. He decided it would be best if he went ahead and tried again with the next color. Of course it would have to be Ravenclaw. He would save the gryffies for last because if he wasn't a huffie, he'd probably like to be a gryffie. They seemed to be good folks (even if there was some issues with sisters from time to time) and they got him chuffed pretty well often.
He focused on a lovely shade of red. He thought perhaps it seemed like a nice crimson or cardinal. He wasn't sure. He just knew that it matched rather well and reminded him a bit of a football team from Manchester. Focusing on that shade of red, he spoke the charm Colovaria! flicked his wrist and watched as the kerchief changed from the lovely emerald color and just as it started to change he remembered he was going to go with ravenclaw and his mind shifted quickly to blue and he ended up with an odd shade of purplish black. It wasn't an entirely displeasing color.

"Thank you, Professor Quigley." He said with the air of a boy who had more money to his name than did Cutty. And probably more ignorance. Little rich boys never knew how it worked. They just knew they could never spend it all. Poor consumers. Bad for the economy.
Colovaria. Where was this spell when Sonea Duvessa had turned the common room pink all over. He'd managed with some transfiguration, but this would've been helpful too. It never hurt to have many weapons in ones arsenal. These were the thoughts as Cutty Mordaunt tugged at his tie and pulled it off from around his neck.
"Colovaria." He said letting it take shape in his mouth before trying it out for real. "Colovaria." He gripped the end of his wand. He pointed the wand directly at his tie. "Colovaria." And as if someone had spilled a heavy drop of red ink that spread all over the fabric quickly, Cutty's green & silver warmed up to hues of red and gold.
He held his Gryffauxdor tie up to his neck and looked at little wee Marsha Hannover. "Hannover, what d'yer think? Do I look like I could pass for one of yew lions?"

Maybe he wasn't focusing enough on what colour he wanted. Sure, he wanted it to turn red but maybe the visualisation wasn't enough. Hmmm. Red like Gryffindor, the crimson red of his best friend's school tie. It was a colour he saw frequently enough, so he should be able to visualise it well. Red and gold. He could do this.
Pointing his wand at the tie, he closed his eyes and concentrated. "Colovaria," he said, his hand twitching just a little. It was enough to miss the tie entirely and hit the floorboard, turning the whole thing crimson with specks of gold. Brian groaned, covering his face with his palm. What even? "WHOOPS."
He shook his head and pointed the wand back at the tie. He could fix it once he nailed the spell. "Colovaria," he said, eyes open this time but full of intent. The tie changed colour slowly, but surely, until there was a red tie with ONE gold stripe. Not too shabby.

He finished his small amused laughs then put his tie down in front of him. H'mm...what house combo to do next? Cutty thought it practical to move from gold and red to gold and black. The vision was an easy one as he tapped his wand to the tie and said, "Colovaria."
He watched as the black took to the article of clothing, looking like he'd burned it strategically sending a spread of ash across the surface covering what was once read and contrasting sharply the hotter shade of gold that had taken over for the Gryffindor red.
"H'mm." He picked up the tie and looked across the room at Adi and wondered why. Just why? :|

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite There might have been a few hiccups here and there but for the most part, Maddox stood munching his apple, pleased with what he was seeing. So what if it took them a few tries. Only thing that mattered was that they DID get the spell. Otherwise...well...it would only hinder them later on...and their house.
Shame you couldn't choose your housemates. "Right then I think that's enough practising. Ties back on." The man leaned against the railing once more, glancing down like he'd been doing while the majority of them were still arriving. Could he take the entire barrel down there with him? Would he need to? It wouldn't be impossible to make them all climb down on their own while he stayed put; simply irresponsible.
When he considered the distance down there...the height involved, suddenly being irresponsible didn't sound half bad.
But if he didn't he'd have to use sonorus and eh, loud noises, no thank you. With a heavy sigh he launched away from the railing once more, nicked a few apples and headed to the end of the bridge closer to them. "Alright everyone, follow me. Down we go." The terrain leading down to the ditch of sorts was slanted and rugged enough to allow for adequate grip. He was confident they could make the climb down.
Maddox eased himself down the edge, feeling out the area so they could see all the safe places to make their descent. "And no," he called up even as he continued, "staying on the bridge is not an option. Single file, follow my lead. Don't break anything." Referring to their own bones. The man was seriously considering point reduction for the reckless among them.
Would have been easier descending as a cat but he needed them to SEE so they wouldn't fall. Occasionally he tapped at the ground with his foot before continuing to make sure the soil wasn't loose but his balance allowed his descent to be easy enough. You'll only really need one well developed post for this part but you're free to make others if you feel better splitting the descent. RP your charrie heading down the side of the ravine/ditch/whatever you wanna call it then just pretend the Professor is already down there standing and waiting on the rest of them to join him. If you need to know the terrain in order to comfortably RP this, take a look at the picture in the description post. Rocks, trees, bushes, all that along the sides. I should move this class sometime tonight, or possible tomorrow morning.

| Post #1 be curious, not judgmental ...Time out. They were... like... LEGITIMATELY going to hike down into the ravine? INTO it? That was something Sophie had never done before, and she'd done plenty of things out and about on the grounds. What was even down there? Creatures? A massive collection of old Honeydukes wrappers? Did Quiggley have a secret hide-out down there that he took catnaps in when his office wouldn't suffice?
Whatever the case was, this Ravenclaw was psyched. IT WAS ADVENTURE TIME.
She instinctively wanted to move toward Tobes or Zander and hold one of their hands as they adventured down into the depths because she preferred having an adventure partner, but Quiggles said SINGLE FILE. That was potentially disastrous, though, wasn't it? If SOMEONE fell from behind... they would knock everyone down with them. An absolutely AWFUL idea. ALL KLUTZES NEEDED TO BE AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE.
But she wasn't going to announce that. Instead, she just side-eyed a few clumsy people and hoped they wore suitable shoes for this downward climb today, as they'd been instructed to do so. But... it'd be proper to ease the minds of those who were scared of slipping, right? Quigley was already on his way down, so Sophie addressed the people who hadn't started their decline yet.
"Anyone who's worried about the bottom of their shoes slipping as we go down, try using Henshu - y'can aim your wand at the bottom of your shoes, give it a twist and a horizontal flick," she demonstrated, waving her own wand in the shape of a sideways candy cane, "and say Hen-shu. Helps with the traction on your shoes." It would essentially be like having proper hiking shoes, she imagined, so she went ahead to cast the charm on her own shoes with a twist and horizontal flick of her wand, "Henshu."
If anything, it at least gave her peace of mind as she started following in the single file line down into the ravine. SHE didn't want to be the one having her foot slip on some rocks and send the whole line tumbling down.

| Post 1 ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Ties back on? Adi's was already on. He had figured they wouldn't be needing those anymore. Anyyywayyy... they were moving on! Ohh! They were to head off the bridge! COOOOOL! He always wanted to go down there but never really took the time to make it happen. He walked ahead before AJ, figuring he'd let her follow in his footsteps. After all, it WAS a treacherous descent.
So far, so good. Adi was onto his... what? Tenth step and so far he was climbing safely over rocks and side stepping bushes, using both his arms to keep his balance by thrusting them out on either sides of him. Wheee! This was fu- WOAAAH! Loose soil, loose soil! Flailing a great deal, the Hufflepuff struggled to keep his balance as his right foot skidded along the soil. This was the end of him surely!
But nope! Mercifully, it was not to be. Adi somehow managed to keep his balance and regained his footing. AJ had seen what happened to him, right? She would know where to avoid walking. Just then, he came upon a tree which he used to help him continue his descent by clinging to it. Hey, he would use anything that would keep him from breaking his neck. Or his leg. He didn't need THAT happening again.
Down, down, down Adi continued. Occasionally, he would paused to step cautiously on rocks to ensure they were secure in the soil. He did NOT need those coming loose. A few times he had to climb over smallish bushes that were in his path. That was a lot better than wasting time by climbing around them though once he nearly pitched forward. A heart stopping moment that was.
Adi FINALLY made it down to the bottom where Professor Quigley was waiting for them. He arrived in style, actually, by sliding on some more loose soil and nearly crashing into the student in front of him. PHEW! He has made it!
Thank Merlin!

How many apples was Quigley going to eat? A bet sounded like a fun thing to make with her friends. Mental note made, AJ slapped her tie back on and tried her best to pay attention to what was going on next. Wait. They were really going to be able to climb down into the ditch looking thing? Wicked. Beyond cool really. This wasn't something she had thought about doing before, but she was glad she was getting a chance to do it today.
AJ laughed as Adi made a point to go down before her. Protective much? She wasn't the sister that would be having problems with this trek. Nope. That would be Angel. Hopefully Benny would stay with her because AJ was ready to get this show on the road. Keeping Adi's figure in view she began to make the descent down. Her thoughts immediately went to Lux as she looked at how far they had to go. That poor girl was really being tested in practically every lesson with heights.
One foot in front of the other was the best way to go. As much as she wanted to rush and beat everybody to the bottom, she didn't. No need to ruin whatever fun Quigley had in store for them by breaking off a limb or several bones. Not to mention that the healer was supposed to be evil.
Little rocks fell to the bottom as she walked. Better them than her. Only a step behind Adi, she noticed him almost eat it. "Are you okay?" She didn't want to make a big deal with him almost DYING, but she cared. He seemed to be all right because he was back to climbing down. Phew. Not having to visit her boyfriend in the hospital wing would be a plus.
A bush scratched at her exposed ankle, but it didn't even phase her. A few steps proved to have some lose soil, but there were trees that she was able to sort of cling to as she made her way to better land. Goodness, this was exciting. Would they be able to hike back up this once it was all over? Because this lion was so down.
All too soon she had made it to where both the professor and Adi stood. Would everybody else be so lucky? It would be kind of cool to see a domino effect happen, but she didn't want any of her friends to get hurt. Her thoughts were fully focused on entertainment value.

Ian heard the professor instruct the class to put their ties back on. He gathered up his handkerchief, debating whether or not to turn it to gold, but decided he could do that later. He carefully folded it and returned it to his pocket. He pulled his tie from the other pocket he'd slid it in and quickly tied it to return it to it's proper look. He wished he had a mirror to make sure it was straight, but he decided he'd just need to depend on a quick glance down.
He followed his classmates, who were following the professor, and started to head down. He wasn't terribly worried about the descent until he noticed the large amount of soil and grass and other items that had been been shaken loose by the volume of footsteps following a single path. He looked to the left and right to see if there was a more sturdy path, but it appeared that this was a lightly traveled portion of the earth that most students had probably never ventured to. Probably a good thing as well. One never quite knew what was living under hard to observe areas of Hogwarts and after all that had happened during his time here, he didn't take anything for granted.
He gingerly stepped here and there, careful to be sure of the footing as he did. He tried to keep one eye on the ground and one on his fellow students in line with him. No need to fall because another student wasn't quite as sure footed. He had spent many hours exploring rocks near his family's home on the seashore, but this ground was less sturdy than that so it was a hit or miss kind of proposition. After what seemed like an eternity, he finally made it to the level area where the professor and other students had found a place to stand.
He looked around to see what he could see. never knew if a bridge troll might be about

Hogwarts RPG Name: Norah Kittredge Seventh Year | Lil' gooz | Sarangel | Junior Dweeb Norah looked up from her Slytherin-y green tie at the sound of Professor Quigley's voice, moving to tie it back on again. Could she stay a fake Slytherin for the rest of the lesson? Technically he hadn't said she needed to change it back to yellow, so there. The green was going to stay. Apparently in all her thoughts on the VERY important subject of tie colors, she'd missed some instructions 'cause all of a sudden Professor Catman was going down into the ditch. Hold up. They could go down there? Three entire years and a bunch of months at this school exploring the grounds and she'd never ever been under the bridge. This was a TRAGEDY, did he know? She'd have to get Hayden to go exploring with her down there, 'cause MAN this was going to be good. Maybe there'd be cool plants down there and everything!
The fourth year bounced from foot to foot as she waited for the student in front of her to start down the side of the ravine. Single file was SLOW. Slow was boring, and very unfit for stuff like the exploration par-TAY that was going to be happening. She swiveled her head around in a million billion directions as she placed one trainer in front of the other, trying to discover something radical on the way down. But all she saw was trees and rocks and that type of normal on-the-grounds stuff. Not that trees weren't exciting, but y'know. This was under a BRIDGE, there had to be something crazy, right? A chocolate frog factory maybe? That'd be even better than having to go all the way to Honeydukes to stock up. Or maybe there'd be lots of cats! That'd be a good reason why Quigley knew about it and she didn't 'cause SOMEBODY (cough Mum cough) hadn't liked the idea of Norah becoming a cat any more than she'd liked the idea of her getting one. Maybe even less. Mums were weird.
As she peered over the shoulder the student in front of her in search of cats or chocolate or chocolate cats, the heel of her purple trainer slipped on the uneven ground, sending her stumbling into a bush. And not just any type of bush, the poke-y kind of bush with the poke-y stuff that, well, poked. "Ow," she said, frowning at the bush. Meanie bush. What'd she ever done to you? With a small shrug, she turned back to the front and continued down the side of the ravine, concentrating harder on the plants in her way than what was down there because she was capable of learning from mistakes, y'know. The Hufflepuff finally got to the bottom after only one more episode with poke-y plants, and what felt like five hundred years.
More trees and rocks and plants? No chocolate frog factory? No CATS? Quigley had better have something exciting planned or Norah was going to have to give him a good talk about getting people's hopes up for no apparent reason.

If there was one important need-to-know fact about Toby, it was that, when it came to thinking about himself, he didn't really seem to understand the concept of 'danger'. It rarely applied to him, in his mind, if ever. Other people? ABSOLUTELY. He was all about making sure other people were safe. But him? Basically invincible, really. Immortal until proven otherwise.
So this descent was really no big deal to him. Quigley's words about not breaking anything was surely more to do with the plants and nature on the way down. Like, don't break nature. A sentiment Toby could get behind.
Soph was talking about that one charm for shoes, but Toby just went right on ahead and started down the rather large hill with big, confidence strides, mostly following the path the chain of students in front of him had gone but mainly just stepping wherever looked good. No big, just a stroll to the bottom. If he wasn't still twirling his wand as he trod his way down the hill, Toby might have had his hands in his pockets, even, strangely cavalier. But as adventures went, if this was what they were meant to be prepared for, it was still super cool. Toby had always wanted to come down here.
It wasn't like Toby made his way down so easily. With such overly confident steps, he still stumbled and skidded a little a few times, occasionally ending up on the floor of the slope, which was so steep it wasn't even like a proper fall at all. Every time, he just grabbed for a hold in the terrain with his free hand, pushed himself back up, and continued on. He'd probably be a little bruised from that later, but hardly seemed to notice. After all, he was making it down in one piece, and nobody had been knocked down like bowling pins. It was all good.
When he got to about ten feet or so from the bottom of the ditch, Toby just went ahead and ran down that last part, as he was close enough and it felt like the instinctive thing to do.
See? All in one piece. Toby turned and looked back up at those still descending, then back at his surroundings at the bottom of the ditch. What were they gonna do down here that involved the colour changing charm? He was intrigued to find out.

| Post #2 be curious, not judgmental Now that she was all set and had been a good little leader by offering a helpful tip to the group, Sophie hopped into the line and... well, frankly, she wasn't too apprehensive at all. She was pretty content with her foot placement and agility - she'd climbed plenty of hills before, both up and down, and this terrain didn't deter her at all. No, she was confident and cool as a cucumber.
It helped that there was someone in front of her, though, and she wasn't the leader - good on Quiggles for being brave to lead the way and possibly sacrifice himself - and she watched their foot placements to gauge where she needed to put hers next. When a rock under the person's foot in front of her seemed to wiggle, Sophie found a different place to put her foot, careful and deliberate in her movements, but still with an air of confidence. As tricky as it was to dance around a little to find good footholds, this was a breeeeze.
The only thing that even threatened to shake her confidence a little was the possibility that someone behind her would tumble into her and send her down with the group, too. She didn't trust ANYONE. Besides maybe Tobes, who she knew firsthand to be good at stuff like this. It was just what they did.
Avoiding the bushes and trees was easy, as Quigley was deciding their path and it was just a matter of following the one he chose, and before she knew it, they were ALMOST TO THE BOTTOM. It was leveling out, and Soph eyed EVERYTHING as they reached the bottom because this was UNCHARTED TERRITORY. WHAT WAS DOWN THERE?
...Just in case Quiggles was a mad man and was luring them into some sort of trap, Sophie had her wand back in her hand, now that they were at the bottom. Constant vigilance, right, Bunz?

| Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Woops...they were moving on and his tie was still green. "Finite," he cast quickly on it in hopes the spell would stop the charms currently on it that made it the other colors. Thankfully it seemed to work and Benny managed to slip it back on around his neck as the professor showed them just what would be their next step in the matter of the class progression.
For all the man's gazing down over the edge of the bridge, Benny should have registered they would be going down beneath the bridge at some point. But then he had been that way that day when they had met before the butterfly plan in Bellaire's office took place. Always looking out or over. Regardless, they were now going down...on foot. The Gryffindor would have prefered by broom the way he and Zeke had talked on their own examination of the bridge his first year.
Quigley was the first but both Adi and AJ, even Ian were quick to follow. There was a bunch of stumbling and picking among the uneven ground that let down the ravine. Benny eventually moved to follow with the rest of the students, careful of his movements and any loose points along the way. He occasionally fought the urge to grab onto a bush or something in passing, but eventually he was at the bottom and could stand beside his friends on relatively level ground once more. The professor there waiting for them all to arrive before he continued on it appeared.

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Professor Quigley wanted their ties back on, soooooo Lux was going to do just that. Not like he had asked her to change it back or anything. Hehe. Red tie for the rest of class.
Happy, she smiled to herself...though what he said next made the expression falter. Down we go? ...As in climbing off of the bridge? Or jumping? Or any number of crazy Gryffindor things??? Yeah. That wasn't on the agenda for today, but he wasn't taking no for an answer.
Welp.
Looks like a dangerous climb down a ravine(?) for her then.
Lux sighed and got into line. She was scared already. Really scared. Why did these Professors insist on terrifying her every lesson? EYES ON YOU, QUIGLEY AND BELLAIRE. Only plus was that because they were heading down together, if she fell someone could catch her. The Professor would catch her, because part of his job was looking out the welfare of his students.
Mostly she just wished Bay was there to help her.
Her turn. Lux slowly and super carefully made her way down. Looking anywhere besides the ground was not an option and she was seriously shaking because terrified. At least she had pretty shoes to look at. Maybe she could focus her attention on them while also looking out for the rocks, trees, and bushes. Sounded like a plan!
Was she half way done already??? Lux would rather be rid of this place, but at least she wasn't crying even if she wanted to. A few stumbles here and there didn't improve matters, but at least she hadn't fallen and hurt herself. UGH, this was horrible and too many stones were in her path, but there didn't seem to be any tree roots.
And... was that solid ground under her feet??
Lux had made it AT LAST after what felt like a million years. Still shaking, she headed over to her classmates and Professor Quigley. She didn't even want to think about how they would get back up to the top right now, but it seemed like the torture wasn't over yet. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jade Archer de Leon Slytherin Fourth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Ivy Charlton Hufflepuff Fifth Year | Post 1 Little Fox | ½ of Lauralie | Ravenclaw with a Hufflepuff heart and a Gryffindor soul | #HouseNATARIANA With one last reassuring smile throw in Eden's direction, Clara fixed her gaze back on Professor Quigley and listened intently to what he had to say. She was more alert now than she had been earlier and her mind seemed to be clearing along with the fog that lingered in the areas surrounding the bridge. The grumpiness remained, but, with it being only barely past 9AM, that was to be expected. Said grumpiness was only increased by the prospect of having to partake in exercise. Ugh.
Was she going to huff and puff the whole way down this, in her eyes, unnecessary climb? No, probably not. What she was going to require when they finally did get down there was answers ...... answers to questions like 'why?' and 'why?' and 'WHY?'
And it had better not include some frightening beast.
She'd had enough adrenaline and the like in, well, pretty much every other class she'd attended. "Stick with me?" Clara asked Eden, looking to her friend for reassurance(?). It wasn't that she was feeling particularly anxious today, and it definitely had nothing to do with the walk down the ravine, but something made her want to stay close to Eden. Perhaps it was her protective best friend instincts kicking in in relation to Cutty ..... all of that evidently continued to bother Eden. Sigh. With Eden right behind her, Clara stepped into the line near the back and begun her trek down. |

Henric raised an eyebrow at llia's comment about him turning into a Raven didn't look quite as bad too. Booksmart to go along with the look,hmm...why not. Oh dear...did she just cawed...Henric tried his best to suppress his laughter but nope...it was too funny. "Nice...very nice,llia.."Henric chuckled, giving her a thumbs up.
After changing his tie to his original house colour and put it back on, he glanced towards the ravine below. His eyes grew larger at the thought of climbing down steep, narrow and uneven looking ground. He felt his heartbeat quickening, doubtful if they could make the descend but he trusted Professor Quigley's decision.
He sighed, why couldn't they magically conjure up stairs instead? Or take a broom and fly down. Wouldn't it better by risking your whole body into this? Alright, enough pondering... he needed to train himself to be brave...he would do this again in the future by hunting dragons,right... why not be prepared now or never.
Henric thoughts flew right out of the window as he began to trail carefully behind the others. He needed to put all his concentration fully onto this, he wouldn't want to miscalculate his steps and lose his balance in the process. Merlin...he mustn't look down too, his vision went blurry for a split second upon discovering more jagged rocks lying at the bottom. He quickly grabbed a low lying branch in case his legs decided to give way at any moment. Henric called for llia who was one step ahead of him, "Be careful, there's rocks below!" Well duhh...obviously, there were rocks everywhere, he was stepping on one now. Henric mentally smacked his head, she seemed to be fine...good...but his heart was not. How long further did they have to go?
When his feet finally landed onto soft ground, he couldn't help feeling the relief he got from successfully conquering his mild fear of heights. He was glad he didn't stumble onto his feet or anything like that. Henric glanced back up and immediately regretting it. After their activities over, wouldn't they be climbing back the same route again?

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jade Archer de Leon Slytherin Fourth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Ivy Charlton Hufflepuff Fifth Year | Post 2 Little Fox | ½ of Lauralie | Ravenclaw with a Hufflepuff heart and a Gryffindor soul | #HouseNATARIANA Clara found that walking down the ravine was more difficult than it looked, and it looked quite difficult to begin with. Remind me, Professor, why we need this sort of exercise at 9AM, she thought bitterly, sending him all the displeased looks when he wasn't looking, while trying to avoid falling to her death. She might love charms, and she might not hate exercise, but this mix was odd and left her feeling befuddled. What could they possibly be doing in a charms lesson that required being at the bottom of a ditch and also involved a colour-changing charm? She couldn't think of even one possible scenario.
........... Half way down.
Perhaps Eden had an idea of what they could be doing. After all, she had a much bigger imagination than Clara did. Clara was often too short sighted for her own good. So, while keeping as close an eye as possible on where she was standing, she twisted round to shoot Eden a questioning look. "Do you have any idea what this could be?" There. Done. Now she could resume her hyper vigilant state. It didn't look like they had far left to go.
From then on, Clara kept her gaze glued to her feet (not literally, she needed to assess her surroundings, too) because it wouldn't do to fall at the final hurdle. She stepped over small broken branches, avoided bushes and trees, evaded rocks ..... so, so many rocks, tried not to drag her feet, and, finally, after far too long, reached the bottom. Well, that hadn't been traumatic at all. Now that the terrain had evened out, she sped up somewhat, with Eden in tow, to gather around Professor Moxley. She daren't look behind her ..... she knew that the climb back up would be so much worse than the one down.
Whatever their class activity was had better be worth it. |

| doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo Okay to be completely honest, it was probably his fault that he didn’t notice the group walking ahead. But Zander was still working on this tie thing. He had just managed to get a good Slytherin Green color, but it didn’t feel right compared to the Gryffindor red and gold. And it looked like people were changing theirs back now, so it wouldn’t do him any good to keep a green tie. Might give people some conflicting signs with the Slytherin tie and the Gryffindor robes. And Zander didn’t want to confuse anyone, y’know?
So he quickly pointed at his tie, doing his best to envision the one he had been holding up before with the Gryffindor colors on it. ”Colovaria!” Luckily it didn’t take more than one try to get it back to normal and Zander was pretty pleased with himself, actually. Huh. Practice did make perfect, huh? And it looked just about the way it did when he— Oh Merlin!! Everyone was already moving ahead!!
The sixth year only had time to pull his tie over his head, leaving it dangling lazily on his neck. He’d fix it later. But for now, he had a group to catch up to! He didn’t even hear Sophie explaining the charm, which would’ve been very helpful considering he didn’t have the best balance in the world, but he wasn’t scared or anything. The trek down wouldn’t be too bad, hopefully. Nothing to fear, Zander Adair could do it… Probably.
So the Gryffindor began walking down (a little too fast, even) trying to catch up to Professor Q who was heading the front of the line. Even though he was straggling way far back behind most of the others. He forgot to be extra careful as he was making his way down, but the focus on catching up took away any hint of unsureness. Maybe it was for the better, huh? The only moment where he suddenly realized how high up they were was when his foot got caught behind a rock. Luckily he was able to keep his balance and it was only a mild hiccup as he quickly continued to walk down.
This wasn’t all that bad, actually. Still he had to maneuver his way around some obstacles, paying a little more attention to the rocks on the ground this time. It seemed like the path down was taking FOREVER, but Zander looked way down there towards Professor Q to see that he had already made a stop at the end. And it wasn’t too far down for Zander either. So the Gryffindor continued on his way, making sure to avoid some bushes and trees as he went. And theeerreeee…. Sophie had her wand out, why? Should he have his wand out as well? Uh. Yeah, okay. Maybe.
If Sophie Brown did it, then it must be the intelligent thing to do. And that’s the last thing Zander wanted, took look unintelligent. So he took his wand out as well, resting it and his hand by his side as he looked around curiously. He had never been down here before! Well, you know… Obviously. Um. Yeah, anyways Q why take them all the way down here? What was the point?

Tie back on, Heather listened to what Professor Quigley was saying. And got excited. She was going to get to climb! She hadn’t done that in awhile. But wait.....where were the safety precautions? Because climbing could be dangerous, even with ledges and hand holds this ravine had. They should at least have ropes and harnesses. I mean, they weren't all cat animagi. Nope, that was just the professor.
As an experienced climber, she wasn't going to buck on her safety precautions. "Incarcerous," she casted at the nearest tall tree, hurrying to unwrap it once she was done. Rope now in hand, she found a sturdy rock near the edge and tied it to it. The other end she threaded through her belt loops before knotting it off. Now she was ready.
She carefully lowered herself down the ravine, following the professor's path as closely as possible. Of course, there were a few deviations as she found stronger foot holds. But basically the same path. Once she'd reached the bottom, she untied the rope from around her waist and looked around. What now?
