Though the class is taking place at it's usual time, bright and early 9 am, there is something very different about the location. What? Well naturally even the least awake among you would notice that instead of standing in neat rows in Classroom 2E you are all headed out by the rickety wooden bridge that leads to the rest of the grounds. The trek out here should be a good waker-upper for those that need it.
The scene is as unassuming as any other with the exception of the area getting warmer and warmer as you approach. Yes, the Professor has taken care of that pesky little weather hitch that happens at this time of the year while you're here out on the grounds. There is still a bit of fog lingering but it's expected to clear up or be removed by the time the activity rolls around. The air is crisp and has a freshness to it that you couldn't get even with the wide windows of the classroom back in the classroom flung open as they usually are.
A peaceful morning really.
As you cross the grounds and come to a stop at the bridge, you find the Professor leaning against the railing with his eyes cast down into the ditch that lies below the bridge. Might be he's looking at something. Might be you can see it to. Just might be he's bored and waiting for his students to arrive; there's really only one way to find out.
Gather around, the lesson will be beginning shortly.

There were all sorts of ties changing colors around her, but Brooklyn was singularly focused. Not on changing the color of her own, but trying to decide what her mental comparisons were going to be for the other two changes. She refused to look at it as making either a Hufflepuff or a Ravenclaw tie. Gryffindor was okay, but even there she hadn’t thought of it as making a Gryffindor tie. In her head, she was fully in Westeros, thinking of the great houses there. It was a lot easier to focus that way, too. In essence, she could ignore everyone around her and not worry about them seeing her fail. She wouldn’t fail. She refused to fail.
Just by reason of being the next simplest change for her thoughts, the tiny redhead settled on yellow and black for the next change. Not Hufflepuff. Baratheon. She wondered if anyone would notice if she changed the badger into a stag, just because that would be funny. She’d really be able to have fun then…
Anyway. Pointing her wand at the red and gold tie hanging over the railing, which had formerly been her pretty green and silver one, she focused on the thoughts that had crystallized in her mind. “Colovaria!” Not the stag though. She figured that would have been another spell entirely, and she wasn’t going to ask Professor Quigley about that when it would mean revealing the plan. No, all she was thinking about right now were colors. Black and yellow, although as she looked at the tie changing, the yellow looked a bit more like gold than really yellow. It was good enough.

One house done, two more to go.
Benny needed to switch the yellow tie Ravenclaw blue this time around. He tried to visualize the change taking place and how it looked on a normal eagle tie before he readied himself to cast the spell again. "Colovaria!" The sixth year used the same tone, clarity and hopefully intent as his previous attempt. It appeared to have been what he needed for the yellow deepened and darkened in color on the tie until he was a rich blue like the desired result.
A final house to do before returning it to normal.
Blue needed to give way to green to represent Slytherin house for the final change. One more casting of the new charm...he hoped anyway. Think Beverley or Caleb's tie he reminded himself as he pictured an emerald green example to guide his charms work. Breathe in....breathe out "Colovaria!"

A positive response. That one was new. Actually, it would've made Zander rather suspicious had it not been for certain circumstances. Certain circumstances meaning, Professor Quigley actually did believe in Zander Adair. Even if he only believed a little bit.
Anyways, activity time. Merlin. Professor Quigley wasn't wasting any time this morning. Normally vague question number one also led to vague question number two. But apparently not this time. So this was it then? They were changing their ties?.... But then whey'd they have to meet all the way outside? Merlin. This better had been worth the trek over here, 'cause Zander was not gonna be a happy camper otherwise.
Co-lo-va-ria.
Sounded easy enough.
Zander was visualizing it too. The blue tie. He was going for Ravenclaw. "Colovaria!" he tried, concentrating as hard as he possibly could given that it was so early in the morning."Colovaria!" He tried again, staring hard. As if squinting would make it look any more blue. (It didn't by the way. Still Gryffindor red).

After practicing his spell pronunciation and doing his wand movement, he was going to try and change the color of his tie. He tried to clear his mind or better yet he needed to clean his sleepy mind. He needed to be awake a little bit more. He shook his head and a couple more times more and then he felt more awake. Now onto the task of changing his tie to the opposite colors. He needed to change it to red, blue and green? Yup just the other houses colors. He pointed his wand at his tie and said, "Colovaria!" and nothing happened. Hmmm...he wondered what could be the problem? I mean he thought he did something right. He shrugged and went onto the task of doing it again. I mean others were having difficulty it wasn't just him.
He pointed his wand at his tie again and then said, "Colovaria!" and saw his tie change colors and then it faded. He was SO close. He would need to try again.
It was going to work this time. It WAS. She had decided and she was in charge so there. Norah held up her pale blue tie and squinted at it. "You'd better turn the right kind of green, Mr. Tie Dude." Stern looks for YOU. The pale blue was pretty nice, though. Almost as nice as that orange from before. But y'know what was nicer? The color of VICTORY, which was Slytherin green this time, even though if it were up to her it would've been glittery. She still had to ask Quigley about that.
Pointing her wand at the tie, she shut her eyes tight and imagined all the green things she could think of. Only dark green, though, which ruled out a lot of fun stuff but she was gonna get the RIGHT green this time, remember? After thinking of Christmas trees and snakes and more christmas trees and frogs and ivy and spinach and even more Christmas trees, the fourth year said, "Colovaria!" and opened her eyes. HELLOOO THERE turquoise? Excuse YOU. That wasn't right at all. With a determined glare at the tie, she tried again. "Colovaria!" It went darker, but not all the way to green. SIGH. "Colovaria!!"
Ta da! Norah beamed and hugged the dark green tie to her chest. Nobody had to know how many tries it'd taken, right? Right. Would this spell work on her hair, too?
After having two failed attempts not gonna lie he was getting discouraged. This wasn't his morning at all. He was usually pretty good at charms. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down. He just needed to change his tie colors. He got his wand in his hand and was prepared to do this. He recited the spell in his head. He just needed confidence that was his problem. He cleared his throat and began to say, "Colovaria!!" and then he pointed his wand at his tie and slowly but surely he saw the tie change colors. He pictured the other houses colors and he saw it turn red, blue and green. He grinned with glee and finally got the hang of it!
Now time for the next activity. He wondered what they were gonna do after this? I mean were they gonna change clothes or what?

Unfortunately Zander was still holding a Red tie in his hands, and Merlin he could not be more disappointed in himself. Why couldn't he get this right?! It wasn't like the spell was even all that difficult. There were plenty of younger students probably already on their second color change. And Zander was still holding a red and gold tie. Not even at his first color change. This was terribly embarrassing. Especially with all that added pressure of knowing Professor Q actually did expect great things. Merlin.
"Colovaria!" he tried again, this time looking at someone else's blue tie. He really needed to envision it. Especially because his tie was STILL red. MERLIN. What more did it take!? The Gryffindor let out a quick, hasty breath in frustration. He needed to clear his head was all. Forget about all the added pressure. Just breathe.
"Colovaria!" this time he spoke with a little more confidence and a little less of... well of whatever he was doing wrong earlier. And FINALLY the tie, it wasn't red anymore!!! Well, the shade of blue was still a bit off, but it was progress. A lot better than getting nothing done at all, right? Merlin. Maybe he'd just work on getting the Ravenclaw thing down before he tried something crazy like Slytherin green.
Yeah, this was already hard enough. Forget changing into every single house color. That's asking for a lot Professor Q.

Seemed like a pretty okay class so far. Not too easy but definitely not too hard either, which was the right way to go with a morning class really. So Jenna was pretty happy with the way the lesson was going.
Colovaria was the spell. She said it softly to herself a couple times, just to make sure she had a good feel for the pronunciation, only trying out the wand movement once or twice because...well it was just pointing her wand - which was also nice, of course. Complicated wand movements could be annoying sometimes.
Now it was time to try it out though.
She took off her tie and held it in front of her with her free hand, pointing her wand at it with the other. So first...a Ravenclaw tie. Picturing the blue and bronze colors in her mind, she said, "Colovaria."
Well...it turned a little blue and a little bronze, but it definitely wasn't as vivid as it should've been. Hm.
She focused a little harder, keeping the proper colors in her mind as she tried again. "Colovaria."
Oh, excellent! That looked about right this time. Good.

There was one problem with her plan, and that was the fact she didn’t know anyone other than Ravenclaw whose colors were blue and bronze. Brooklyn wasn’t about to accept failure though, and they’d been asked to cover all the houses. Professor Quigley didn’t need to know that technically she hadn’t done Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. It looked like she had, and she had the advantage of knowing Ravenclaw quite well. Considering she’d seen Lily’s uniform while her sister had still been here, and she’d seen the things her aunt and uncle had from when they’d been here. Way too many Ravenclaws for her not to be familiar with the colors. She just wished she could pretend that she wasn’t changing her tie to those colors.
Focusing once again, pointing her wand at the gold and black striped tie on the railing, she concentrated on all of that stuff. Lily’s, Aunt Elizabeth’s, Uncle Robert’s…all Claws. All not her, but at least she didn’t have to keep the tie Claw colors. “Colovaria!,” she cast, watching her tie and not looking away until it had transformed into a blue and bronze stripe. If she had to use sheer will to accomplish it, she was going to.
Luckily, the tie cooperated, but she didn’t let it stay Claw for long. Instead, almost as soon as it had changed and she’d checked to see if the lesson had moved on yet, she’d pointed her wand at it again. “Colovaria!” Back to Slytherin, but she left it on the railing for now. She could put it back on later.

So now she had a red tie. Pseudo-Gryffindor. Basically a lion. Dot tied the tie around her head and did a victory pirouette. Around and around and... oh, right. She was still practicing the spell. Very serious little future animagus at work here.
Ahem. How about a Hufflepuff party now? If red was possible, then surely Dot would make her tie turn to yellow. Double ahem. She removed the tie from her head and set it back on the desk in a messy red squiggle of fabric.
"Colovaria," she pointed her wand at the tie and thought about yellow things. The sun and a snitch and daisy-bellies and baby ducks. Yellow was soft and spring. Yellow yellow yellow. The tie went from reddish to maroon to orange to orange-yellow... to yellow. YELLOW, FOLKS.
"Badger Dottie," she whispered, draping the tie around her head again. Victory dance?

Changing colors. Now that could come in handy. Janelle could think of at least three things in her possesion that she could use the spell on. Before she could try it out on her tie, she needed to practice the spell a bit.. Janelle just had a feeling that she was going to get this one right.
Since pointing was pretty self explanatory, Janelle decided to tackle the incantation. "Co-lo-va-ria, Co-lo-va-ria, Colovaria." Satisfied that her pronunciation was correct, Janelle took off her tie and set it down. Then she picked up her wand and pointed it at her tie. She glanced over at one of her classmates for a moment. When the image of Hufflepuff yellow was stuck in her mind, Janelle continued to think yellow, yellow, yellow. "Colovaria", she said with authority. Then lo and behold, she now had a Hufflepuff tie. Cool.
Janelle thought that this might have been the first time that she had ever gotten a spell right on the first try. Nailed it. She couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face. But she couldn't spend too much time patting herself on the back because she had two more colors to try out. It was on to the next house color.

The last change was actually going to be the hardest. Not that blue was harder than red or yellow, but she was all emotionally tied up in her once-dashed dreams of being a Ravenclaw with her best friends. It might hurt a lot to make that tie blue... or it might just be a blue tie.
Either way, she was going to be very distracted casting a spell that needed FOCUS. BLUE BLUE BLUE focus. Cloudless blue skies and big blue eyes, calm water and the deep blue ceilings in the Ravenclaw common room. It was so pretty. She wanted her tie to be just as pretty.

"Colovaria," she squeezed her eyes shut and cast the spell, hoping against hope that she'd make her tie change colors one last time. Dot opened one eye, and then another, and found a deep blue tie curled on her desk.
Henric did his infamous eye rolling at llia."Yeah yeah...lets see if you can do better then...go on..go on..."he chuckled, look at her flipping her long hair back and being all Slytherin worthy of her tie...uh huh...who was the sass now,hmm?! He didn't think he looked that bad being in Slytherin...the sorting hat almost wanted to put him there but he told the hat..he didn't care which..as long as he could get to the table fast so they could get on with the feast.The sorting hat snorted...he actually did....
Anyway, he waited for llia to finish with her colour changing spell on her tie. Oooh...hufflepuff eh? Henric blinked at his bestie for a moment when she posed with her big dolly eyes and smile, asking him if she looked sweet as a puff."Who are you? And what have you done to my bestfriend?"Henric asked, grinning widely while acting all seriously. She looked different...mighty different and he wasn't sure if he like this version of llia but woohooo...this was fun!
"But you know...you don't look as bad....I think being a Hufflepuff suits you too,"Henric replied, shrugging nonchalantly. He then took off his tie and held it back up again.
"Maybe being in Gryffindor fits me better?"Henric muttered.Henric cast out the spell again,"Colorvaria!" while thinking hard on the colour red on his tie. He should act brave and courageous next.hehe.
Ilia wanted to giggle at him for his eye roll because she knew that he was joking. Honestly........he looked pretty good in green, at least in Ilia's opinion. They did start bonding over their mutual love of reptiles and amphibians.........which is one other reason she laughed about being sorted into the snake house. "You know that I'm an amazing snake, you don't look too shabby in green though." She winked at him playfully.
She couldn't keep her expression Barbie like for long , she was told she looked like a porcelain doll but didn't much enjoy that thought. To Henric's teasing she snorted a laugh almost. She couldn't see herself as a fake sweet doll, she didn't want to be anything like that at all. Being a Hufflepuff suited her though? Maybe it did.........she wasn't sure. Adi was an awesome friend and her best friend was a puff, but there were also puffs that she didn't care for. Houses really didn't seem to have anything to do with that really. "As much as I like badgers....." She nodded her head toward him. "I don't think that yellow is my color. It clashes with my blonde hair." No point in wearing a color that would outshine her golden locks.
Maybe Gryffindor fit him better than Slytherin? Green was so much prettier though.........She eyed him over in red and gave an approving nod. "Not bad, I am more partial to green though." She smiled a little and held out her own tie. "Colovaria." The brightness of the yellow gave way and smoothly blended into a sharper, warmer color. Ilia's tie also camouflaged itself to match that of the house of lions. She looked at her friend, matching him. "Rawr." She posed and moved her hands like claws, showing off for him.

Now, which one to try next? Hufflepuff or Gryffindor? It didn't really matter since it'd be changed back to Slytherin colors again in the end, but still. Maybe she'd try the Gryffindor colors next though, just to get her brother's house out of the way.
So Jenna pictured those colors in her mind, red and gold, and imagined them appearing on the tie this time. And she decided to focus on that mental image for a few seconds before trying it. "Colovaria."
Instantly the blue and bronze transformed into red and gold...for the most part. There was still a little smidgeon of the Ravenclaw colors at the bottom. Probably not enough to notice if the professor was even inspecting every single one of their tie changes...but eh, even if he wasn't, mostly succeeding wasn't good enough to Jenna. So trying a second time was a thing.
"Colovaria." Yep, that was much better. Now it was entirely accurate - good.

Puck was focusing hard now, because she wanted it to be spot on. Sure, maybe the fact that this was the other house she had thought upon the Hat’s song or whatever you called it because it wasn’t exactly a song. It was more like cryptic poetry about houses and well, personalities mostly? Still, she had thought that she would have been a slytherin.
Well, she did think she had some of their traits. Still, as Professor Flamsteed had said the day after the feast she was fiercely determined and would stand up for people like how she did for Kevin. Still now she needed to make this color right. Just for her inner snake.
First she focused on the yellow hufflepuff stripe and visualized it turning a dark emerald green. Then, she pictured the black stripe and tried to visualize it sparkling and glimmering like the beautiful silver almost white in some light even. Still focusing on the color she pointed her wand at the tie in front of her. “Colovaria” She cast and watched as the colors shifted, morphed, blended and changed until a Slytherin Tie was there in her hands.
Putting it about her neck she just grinned. “How do I look?” She asked grinning over to Kace.

Next up, Gryffindor. Janelle was pumped and ready for try number two. She needed to focus on red so she thought of all the red things she could come up with.......fire engines, strawberries, the professor's apples, tomatoes and on and on. Janelle closed her eyes and made sure that she her mind was filled with red images. As always, concentration was key. She had to keep herself focused on the color red and imagine it transferring to her uniform tie.
When she was ready to cast the spell, Janelle opened her eyes and readied her wand. Pointing it at her yellow tie, she said, "Colovaria". Bam.....red tie. Oh she was on a roll now. She was eager to do her Slytherin green quickly, lest she lose her mojo.
Janelle was two for two and determined to go three for three. She took a moment to revel in her success before she moved on to green. Maybe, just maybe, she would actually get the hang of this magic thing one day. She just had to be patient and keep trying.

So just one house left before she could change her tie back to normal. And surely this should be a piece of cake now. She'd messed up a little on the previous one, but only a little. So this time it should be totally perfect, right?
She was going to find out.
Picturing the tie turning yellow and black, she kept her wand pointed at it and said, "Colovaria."
And it...turned entirely yellow. The whole thing. Just yellow.
Really????
Merlin's beard.
Jenna narrowed her eyes at it and at her wand, wondering if they were doing this on purpose just to annoy her. Ugh.
She couldn't let them do that though - this would work perfectly at some point. So she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, opening her eyes as she exhaled.
Completely calm now. Okay.
Picturing the smaller stripes turning black, she cast, "Colovaria."
And...yes. Perfect. Yellow and black, just like the Hufflepuff tie. Good.

The other houses' colors.....? Yeah, Heather wasn't too thrilled with that. Mainly because she disliked Slytherin green. Nothing against the house itself, but that color was ugly.
Which meant that maybe she'd start with it and get the worst over with already. But what if she had trouble with the spell it was stuck like that? Nah, if first years could do it without trouble, she could too. Focusing on the hideous green, she slipped her untied (had to have some individuality aside from jewelry and shoes) tie from around her collar and held it in front of her. "Colovaria." Boom. Ugly green. Now to quickly change it......

Henric shoock he head at llia, chuckling at her remark about her hair clashing with the colour of his house."No,it doesn't...we Hufflepuffs looks good in anything really,no need to worry, we just cool like that,"he boasted, waving his hand poshly. Of course, again he was being ridiculous.
Yasss...he turned his tie into one of Gryffindors! Score two for Henric at his surprising ability to turn objects into a different colour!Woots~ Oh, and llia a Gryffidor this time! He laughed when llia did the lion pose too. "It sounded to me more like a purr than a lion, more vibrato here..like this..."he pointed to his stomach and growled,"ROAWWRR..."" He made a face, flinching slightly at the end.
"Nope...that wasn't it...let's move on,"Henric fake-coughed and held up his wand again."Colorvaria!"he quickly cast before he made a fool of himself more. The red faded and turned to his favourite colour...blue!
"I think this house suits you more than me,llia,"he smiled, holding up his blue tie. Henric was a procrastinator, not a hardworking type at all but he was trying...really trying....

....to Hufflepuff yellow. Not that she would want it that way permanently. Hufflepuffs were much too sunny for her liking. Nobody could be that happy all the time, unless they were just ignorant.

This lesson was INTERESTING.
Changing colours of things was fairly standard he thought, and he'd already dabbled with it, so practicing the charm some more wasn't something that phased him. Rather, grinning, Zeke pulled off his tie - pleased to be rid of the thing - and took out his wand.
Pointing at the garment, he stated clearly, "Colovaria," all the while focusing on a strong Ravenclaw blue.
Not surprisingly, he was successful. Of course he was. This was Charms! He was GOOOOOOOD at Charms!
A part of him wondered what it might have been like to wear the blue... though he had to admit he much preferred red.

So she'd been a Hufflepuff and also a Ravenclaw. Sure it might have just been for a few seconds and technically she hadn't been either just her tie had been but it was still pretty cool anyhow.
"Colovaria," Hady stated firmly with a point of her wand towards the tie her focus on changing it red. Right away the blue faded and changed to a brilliant red. Not just any red though, Gryffindor red to be exact. It was odd holding her tie this time when it was the Lions color and she couldn't help but cast a quick glimpse over at Zeke to see how he was doing with this.
Now that she had the color changing charm down it was time to go back to being a snake. So with a small smirk and a color image of her normal green color in mind she pointed her wand at the necktie, "Colovaria." As it changed once more and hopefully for the last time from it's red color to the way it was supposed to look she slipped her wand back into it's holster.
Holding up her now once again Slytherin tie she happily slipped it back over her head letting it remain there hanging loosely. As nice as it was to see the other colors she enjoyed being a snake much to much to be anything else.

Blue would have looked good on him, he decided, but then again he was sure ALLLLLL the colours would look good on him. Never mind though that he didn't want to be in any of the other houses, Gryffindor was his home.
"Colovaria," he cast for a second time, wand pointed at his tie.
This time it turned a bright Hufflepuff yellow, and he had to say yellow was perhaps one of the colours he would wish to avoid. Yellow, gold, it didn't matter what people called it, it was just too sickly happy. Not his style at all.
"Why thank you very much,Miss Valke...finally you admitted I can look pretty dashing in Slytherin,"Henric grinned, acting self-indulgently by spiking up his hair like he always do before class. Hair and grooming...lived by it people.
Henric shoock he head at llia, chuckling at her remark about her hair clashing with the colour of his house."No,it doesn't...we Hufflepuffs looks good in anything really,no need to worry, we just cool like that,"he boasted, waving his hand poshly. Of course, again he was being ridiculous.
Yasss...he turned his tie into one of Gryffindors! Score two for Henric at his surprising ability to turn objects into a different colour!Woots~ Oh, and llia a Gryffidor this time! He laughed when llia did the lion pose too. "It sounded to me more like a purr than a lion, more vibrato here..like this..."he pointed to his stomach and growled,"ROAWWRR..."" He made a face, flinching slightly at the end.
"Nope...that wasn't it...let's move on,"Henric fake-coughed and held up his wand again."Colorvaria!"he quickly cast before he made a fool of himself more. The red faded and turned to his favourite colour...blue!
"I think this house suits you more than me,llia,"he smiled, holding up his blue tie. Henric was a procrastinator, not a hardworking type at all but he was trying...really trying....
"Maybe so..........but still not as good as a snake." She joked back and posed her body with a smirk and a wink. Back to being slightly more serious. To her Henric looked fine in no matter what color..........just no pink please. A purr? He called her grr a purr? Tch. When he made a 'roawr' and flinched........she flinched a little as well.....not the best roar she had heard. She laughed as he said to move along and coughed. She wasn't going to call him on that one.
She pulled her tie back into her hand. Last color.....blue as the sheen on a Raven. "Colovaria." The red altered and shifted, the color cooling and turning from a warm red to a relaxed blue. When he said he thought the house suited her more than him, her cheeks got a soft pink to them. "Maybe so but, we can't say blue isn't fetching on you." She smiled sweetly, naturally and un-doll like. She couldn't help but look at him and make a sound. "Ca-caw.....Ca-caw." She said quietly and giggled. She was far too amused by that....Silent as the grave was her next sound ladies and gents.....

Janelle had gotten the spell right on her first two tries. There was no way she was going to mess up her third shot. It was time to channel her inner Slytherin. Green. Green leaves, green grass, green peppers, turtles, frogs.......hey, it worked before. No need to fix what wasn't broken, yeah? Janelle envisioned being surrounded by green and then she pictured her tie in a shade of Slytherin green.
That done, it was time to make things happen. Holding on to her green vision, Janelle directed her attention to her tie. She pointed her wand at it, took a deep breath and gave it a go. "Colovaria", she said, with total certainty this time. She had done it! Janelle had changed her tie into all three colors on the first try. She would have to write down the date because this was major. With her confidence boosted, Janelle tried the spell one last time. "Colorvaria." The tie was now back to her favorite color........Ravenclaw blue. Now Janelle wondered what else they would be doing in Charms class today. She felt ready for anything.
