It's bright and early Monday morning and time for the first Charms lesson of the term. As you enter, you notice the room is in it's typical set up with the desks and chairs lined in three neat rows to allow easy access should the Professor need to move about--though this is highly unlikely.
The windows, as usual are wide open letting in the natural light from the outdoors. Nothing like a little fresh air and a BRIGHT classroom to keep everyone awake after what was a large breakfast.
The Professor stands to the front, leaned against his desk waiting for the students to arrive. If he looks tired, he probably is...but that's nothing new, is it? Behind him the board remains blank for now except for these instructions:

OOC: The lesson hasn't officially begun yet, feel free to RP your students' arrivals and all that fancy stuff. Do remember the rules as you post. I should move this class in another 10-12 hours *crosses fingers*

And now Rusty had to do it. "Are you ready?" she asked, still grinning as she tried to focus herself. Right. Let's DO this.
"One... two.. three. Alarte Ascendare!" Rusty brandished her wand at her friend, and to her amazement, Marsha's feet actually left the ground!!! She didn't go quite as high as Rusty had, but she could work on her concentration and maybe that would help? The excitement was getting in the way...
”Wooohooo!” Marsha exclaimed as she was lifted quite happily off of the ground by Rusty’s charm. Wasn’t that amazing?! With a grin, she let out a woop as she bounced onto the trampoline floor/ ”That was awesome!”
Laughing, Marsha righted herself again, taking a few deep breaths and clearing out the joy of free-falling from the charm. When she felt clear and calm again, she brandished her wand a second time and said clearly, ”Alarte Ascendare!”
Her eyes went wide as Rusty flew upwards into the air.

Zhenya had never really liked the feeling of falling. The guts being higher than the brain type feeling. She nodded, still smiling broadly, and pointed her wand at Echo again. How weird was this, pointing a wand at someone? "Alarte Ascendare," she said again, her wand brandishing at Echo.
"I was going to guess that" she smiled, loving hearing the girls accent she got ready and in place for her to do the spell again. "oh its not bad at all, I got some butterflies in my stomach but it was fun" she couldn't wait actually to do it again, and she was excited to try it out herself.
Hearing the words again she braced her self but not as much as the first time... and she was up in the air, she laughed as she started to fall on the squishy floor. Landing she laughed even more.. "I guess its my try now isn't it?" she smirked as she stood up and dusted her self off.
"let me know when your ready and i can cast the spell." hopefully it will work for her as it did for the older snake.

She didn’t honestly know if the particular spell they were using could fail and turn anyone into a fish anyway, but she wasn’t planning on finding out. She’d just have to dodge if things seemed like they’d go really wrong, or hope the trampoline floor made the other girl miss. She appreciated her existence way too much to risk it.
Later didn’t seem to be too much of a problem, either, as the first time the girl had cast the spell didn’t do much more than make Brooklyn bounce a little more than she had been. She certainly hadn’t flown into the air. “Brooklyn Andrews,” she replied. At least one of them would have their name known, and it seemed as if they’d be here for a while if the other girl kept messing up the charm. At least it hadn’t been too much of a mistake. Things could have been bad if she got injured, slammed into someone else or a wall.
Well, launching a person in the air was definitely a lot more difficult than shooting a ball of parchment. Noticing that Natalia had induced not more than a fingernail in height of levitation, she was no longer surprised. Hopefully, she would be able to improve on it upon later tries.
Brooklyn. "Hello Brook!" Natalia had taken note that the slightly younger girl did not seem to talk very much; she would only respond when spoken to. "Okay so BROOK-" That was going to be Natalia's nickname for her, whether she was already called by that alias or not. "-do you want to try the spell on me now?" Natalia thought it would be the most efficient to take turns practicing the spell on each other.
Besides, Natalia really wanted to experience that excitement of being launched into the air!
Man, she had done such a good job that she gave herself a high five. That was a pretty high level of awesomeness if you asked her. AJ laughed as her sister pretended to be a plane. Angel was always coming up with something silly to say. In all honesty AJ was surprised Angel wasn't scared, though she was glad her sister was having so much fun. Maybe she had some lion in her after all.
Mary Poppins? Snort. "Whatever you do, don't start singing," she teased. Angel was another one that she teased because what else were sisters for? It was all in good fun. It was a good thing that AJ was about to get her sister down because Angel was obviously over being a plane and Mary Poppins. Their brains could be in such sync sometimes.
"My turn, my turn," she said as she hopped up and down. With the trampoline type mess beneath her she was able to hop higher than normal. "You can keep me up there as long as you want." You wouldn't hear any complaints from her. AJ could just fly around all day if it were to be allowed. Somehow she figured that wouldn't fly with Quigley too well though. Heh. Get it?
Angel was going to enjoy this. "So Sis!" Angel smiled as she looked at her sister. "The question is not how long but how high." Angel wanted to make her sister go really high that was what sisters were for right having fun and making your sister fly into the sky.
"Alarte Ascendare!! Angel brandished her wand, she thought that this was going to be amazing, she thought of nothing but letting her sister fly into the air, she wanted her sister to have an amazing time. She looked as her sister started to rise up into the air. "How high do you want to go sis?" Angel thought she might as well ask again in case her sister had missed the first time she had asked the question.
YES! YES! YES!
She did it, this was SO coooool!!!
They were on a ROLL! Rusty laughed as Marsha wooped, think how much more exciting it would be when she could get her to fly even higher!!
But now it was HER turn to fly. So she readied herself and took a deep breath as Marsha pointed her wand at her and...
"Eeeeeeeeep!!!"
WOW that was so exhilarating! She could feel her body tingling with adrenaline as she came back down and bounced off the floor. She took a few seconds to right herself and brush flyaway hairs out of her eyes, then looked up at her friend, feeling ever more confident with her excitement.
"Get ready!" Rusty warned, then she took a breath and... "Alarte Ascendare!!" She flourished her wand at her friend, who shot up into the air, her feet almost as high as Rowan's nose!

Life wasn't like that though... but at least it was Tia, who seemed to be just as terrified. If she couldn't do it with her boyfriend, the younger Ravvie was her second choice. They could be scared together! "Sounds good to me." Small smile. And looked like she was going first.
Trying to keep her hand steady, she brandished her wand at Tia. "Alarte Ascendare!" Ugh, clearly that was a fail because Lux was having a hard time focusing when she was so scared.
So at first Tia was nearly positive that Lux was going to shut her down and say she didn't want a partner or she already had someone in mind. Not that she'd be surprised; the fifth year was sure the girl had LOADS of possible choices. But then she smiled when Lux agreed to partner with her.
Although perhaps with the older girl's uneasiness, well Tia wasn't sure how high she was going to go. Deep breath. Debating on if she should attempt an air flip to go higher towards the hoop, she realized she had to be shot up first. Only problem was that clearly the caster was unfocused as she felt her feet lift forcefully about an inch off the ground.
"You said it right," Tia said encouragingly; better than she did on her first try. "But I think you're lacking concentration."

Once her bouncing had slowed down a little, Brooklyn noticed that her partner had realized the spell hadn’t quite worked. At least she hadn’t seemed too upset about it, which was good. She wasn’t about to try and make anyone feel any better about their spellcasting. That wasn’t her job, but then, she knew from experience that it wasn’t likely Professor Quigley would do that either. Wherever he was. She glanced around the room while her partner had been talking again, until her blue eyes had seen the cat over in the corner. That was one way of keeping himself out of the chaos. Not that it looked like anyone had flown up as high as they were supposed to have done yet. Some people had flown higher than she had, though. Which annoyed her a little, but it was out of her control.
As was, apparently, controlling what people called her, as she silently added the ‘-lyn’ to her own name as the Lion had kept speaking. At least it wasn’t the abhorred nickname, which was why she didn’t say anything. And of course she wanted to try the spell. That was the whole point of the activity, right? Everyone trying. Except, she wasn’t half as confident about her chances with the girl instead of the ball of parchment, even if she ignored the fact she’d failed on that the first time too. She didn’t want to fail again. “Are you ready?,” she asked, her wand out and in her hand. There would just have to be more focus this time, and she brandished it at the girl.
“Alarte Ascendare!”

Yay, he had a partner now! And he's totally a new person that he'd never seen before. Hehehe.
"Nice to meet you, Toby hy... Toby. I'm Jackson, fifth year." The Korean boy introduced himself. Kinda weird not to call him by... you know, how he addressed older student as hyung and noona since it's not really necessary here. "Well uh... I think I am gonna... try first. You didn't mind, right?" Because he seemed an easy going person. Okay, he would try first and make this guy went up. Concentrating, he brandished his wand and cast the spell toward the Hufflepuff boy. "Alarte Ascendare!" Hopefully he did good because he didn't want to injure this boy, OKAY?
Toby had noticed that Jackson had an accent pretty much instantly, and he was wondering if maybe he was a transfer from another school, one overseas, on account of how he'd never seen him around here before. He had to force himself not to wonder about that for too long, even though he had a tendency to get lost in his own thoughts.
Because! They had work to do. Super FUN work, too! Toby was so ready for this, and was, without a doubt, delighted that he'd have the chance to go nyoom first. "Sure, I don't mind at all!" he replied, a big grin on his face, and moved into a position that would be easier for aiming the spell at him and would make sure he didn't hit anyone nearby on the way up.
He waited, braced, the excitement building 'cause he was gonna fly, and then...
WHOOOOOSH.
The seventh year laughed gleefully as he shot up in the air, trying to be mindful of Quigley's rule about loud noises but also just enjoyyyying himself. Up up uppppp he went until he made it far enough through the hoop in the air to light it up. NICE. He might have flapped his arms a little in an attempt to try and stay up in the air, but soon enough he was back on the ground, landing with a THUD that sent a weird shock through Toby's feet. But that wasn't exactly an unfamiliar sensation; when you played a lot of Quidditch you got used to hard landings.
"That was brilliant. Good job!" Toby said to Jackson, looking thrilled and exhilarated. "Okay, I'm gonna send you up now, you ready?"
He waited until he was suuuuuper sure that the Gryffindor was ready and willing, then brandished his wand at him. "Alarte Ascendare!" The thrill of the flight was still in his mind, so concentrating on the intent was not difficult at all.
And yep. Up the other boy went. Toby watched to see if he would go through the hoop.

After nodding at what Tia said, she took some deep breaths. Time to try again and this time she worked really hard to focus on what she wanted the spell to do and nothing else. It seemed to take forever, but she knew she could do it. Time to be brave and not dwell on the fact that she would soon be hurtling towards the ceiling.

Zhenya couldn't help it, Echo just reminded her of someone being young and free spirited. She laughed with her, kind of wanting to keep flinging her into the air because Echo seemed to enjoy it so much. For the first time, it crossed Zhenya's mind how much fun it would be to do this to her younger siblings in the pool. With floating devices on, of course. She loved being thrown into the air as a kid, catapulting into the water. Never went very high though, surely this spell would get them higher?
Zhenya felt a few nervous flickers of butterflies in her stomach as Echo prepared to cast the spell on her. Any time her feet were preparing to leave the floor it happened. It meant coming down. She took a few deep breaths and said "Okay, I'm ready," and thought light thoughts to herself. Light as a feather, light as a feather.

She was so glad that Zhenya said she was ready. "okay. if nothing happens can you help me figure out what went wrong?" she asked the older girl. she was nervous, she wasn't 100 % sure if she had the spell down. but she would give it ago anyways.
Pointing her shakey wand she said "Alarte Ascenda!" her eyes were closed the whole time because she didn't know what was going to happen..
"are you okay?? did it work??" she asked with her eyes still closed tight.

Zhenya nodded encouragingly, "Of course. But I'm sure you'll be fine." She was. Confidence in casting the spell could sometimes do wonders.
But Echo didn't seem very confident. She closed her eyes and cast the spell, which was pointed straight at Zhenya, who felt her feet leave the floor for a few seconds before she dropped back down. Not bad.
"Well you got me to leave the ground," she said, nodding. "How about this time you um… well you can look at me the whole time. And try to think confidently. Tell yourself 'I WILL lift Zhenya off the ground!' and I'll keep thinking super light thoughts, and I'm certain I'll be lifted from my feet." She stood tall again, thought very light thoughts, and looked into Echo's eyes. "Look at me Echo, and try again," she encouraged, a neutral smile on her face. They would do it together, and Echo WOULD lift her high off the ground.

OHHH, a volunteer! Adi grinned at Mikey. "Awesome!'' Let's get this show going! Was he confident? Was Mikey kidding! Adi was almost ALWAYS confident about stuff.
"I am, I AM!'' Okaaaay, maybe he should calm down a bit before he shot Mikey all around the classroom and caused him any injury.
"I'm ready... so be prepared!'' DEEEEEP BREATH! "Alarte Ascendare!'' The Hufflepuff brandished his wand. Up, up, UP! went a Mikey. Higher, higher, higher... for about seven feet before the guy started coming back to the ground.
Eh... "Um... not exactly what I was going for but it's a start.'' Yep, it was better than nothing. "Want to cast it on me or should I try it again?''
Actually Michael didn't have to time to get prepared. Although he was not sure how he was supposed to prepare himself anyway. It was probably a good thing he had put his wand away because he was pretty sure that he would have tried to defend himself against Adi's brandishing wand.
Two years at Durmstrang put a person on edge okay.
But before he knew it, he was heading straight up into the air and just when he was getting worried about hitting the ceiling, he was on his way back down.
"Nice job." He said to Adi when he had landed back on his feet. "I think I will have a go now." The Hufflepuff was just a little too eager to shoot him into the air again.
Michael took out his wand. "Alarte Ascendare." He spoke the incantation clearly and confidently as he brandished his wand at Adi. The boy shot off like a rocket into the air and went about nine feet before coming back down.

Okay good. Lux wasn't offended when Tia told her to concentrate and in the meanwhile, the fifth year just waited impatiently while the older girl collected herself.
Eyes focused on the other girl, because she was hoping for some sort of visual cue in warning in regards to readying herself to be shot into the air. Once she saw the wand raise though, Tia knew it could come any moment.
And then, at the words uttered by Lux, the charm forced Tia upward beyond her control. The only thing she felt she could control was ... well, nothing really, as she pulled her knees up to her chest in cannonball fashion and in effort to hopefully make it to the hoop - a feat she fell shy of by about two feet before gravity took its toll and she did an air-flip on her way down and felt herself bounce on the trampoline-like floor just a bit.
One thing was certain; Tia was grinning/laughing much moreso than when she had gotten launched up. "That was kind of fun!"
"You ready to go up?" She asked, reaching for her wand as she recollected her train of thought and balance.

Lux had covered her eyes immediately after casting the spell, so she had no idea that it had actually worked until she felt Tia bounce on the floor. It had been kind of fun?? Yeah, no. That wasn't the word she'd use to describe it.
Terrifying was much more fitting.
And now it was her turn, but she was not ready to go. Far from it. "How about we just pretend I got hurtled into the air?" That sounded like a MUCH better idea. Looking up at the ceiling again she gulped.
The beaming smile Norah had given Hady was meant with a grin. A typically Hady response really. The should get started with this it looked like all the other groups were giving it ago already.
Oh geez. Her older friend was going to cast first. It wasn't that she wasn't trusting her or scared or anything because honestly she was excited. She just hadn't expected to be told she was being shot up into the air first. "Alright, whenever you're ready," she answered moving backwards a few steps to give them both some space.
Taking a breath she listened as the charm was cast at her. At first she only left the floor a tiny bit landing softly soon after and bouncing gently a few times. "Give it another go, you can do it!" she encouraged the older girl. Getting ready once more she watched the wand being waved at her and heard the words.
Her feet left the floor and she could feel herself going Higher and Higher!
So awesome!
She didn't quiet make it through the hoop only maybe half her head did before she came falling back downwards landing with a soft 'thud' and stumbling about to get her balance. "That was awesome!" she exclaimed laughing and pulling out her wand still bouncing slightly on her feet.
"Get ready Norah it's your turn now." Hady told her as she brandished her wand at her while clearing reciting the charm, "Alarte Ascendare!" She watched the red heads feet leave the floor as she moved upwards. Hopefully this was a strong enough cast and she'd go high enough.
Norah watched hopefully as Hady flew up into the air.......and came back down. Without getting all the way through the hoop. SIIIIIGH. Hady's encouragement was met with some more smiles, though, 'cause nice people deserved those all the time. She reached out to catch the younger girl as she stumbled, but pulled her hands back quickly because it didn't look like she didn't need help at all. Extra points for COORDINATION to Hady. Norah never got any of those.
She took two bouncy steps backwards to prepare for the AWESOMENESS that was to come. When the spell was cast she felt her purple trainers AND sparkly laces leave the squishy ground, but if felt like her stomach was still on the ground. RADICAL. She let out a loud laugh as she went higher and higher, sticking her hands up so her fingertips went through the hoop. Nothing else made it high enough, and she felt her knees buckling under her on the ground far too early. Far too early 'cause that was FUN. She stood up quickly and gave Hady a thumbs up. "Almost got it!" AGAINAGAINAGAIN?
"Myyyy turn." It was SO gonna work all the way this time.
Michael raised his eyebrows when not only he but two other people came over to ask the Slytherin, whose name is apparently Hugh, if they could be his partner.
Mr Popularity or what?
"Yeah we could do that. I'm cool with whatever." So long as they knew what they were doing and he wasn't going to find himself with a limb missing or something. "The name's Michael by the way. Michael Toussaint."
He flourished his wand between the three. "So who wants to go first?"

Hugh was not a little dude or man or whatever the Hufflepuff had called him. He was seventeen and had the brain capacity of a person four times his age, yo. Let's not diminish the Hughbert with name calling.
He had perseverated on that for a while until Eden drew his attention. All the people were working now and their little group was off and going. Leave it to Hugh to get lost in his own thoughts. Unsurprising, honestly.
Nod. "I am ready. You can go first, though." He wasn't quite done being hung up on his train of thought. She could toss him up in the air while she sorted that.
He didn't mention to for her to be mindful of his food baby. A lot of movement might cause throw up.

Did it work? DID it work?
Jackson didn't hope much that it would work at his first time. When he practiced with the parchment, he needed to try several times so it could fly higher than his head. Well, parchment was lighter. Now he had to make a PERSON fly. Maybe he would need to try it gazillion times so it did work. Buuuut... miracles happened. Toby DID go up... higher and higher until he made it far enough through the hoop in the air to light it up. And he did it just in a first try. He couldn't help but beam happily because he could do this spell just in ONE try!
"Wow, I don't believe it!" He said to the older student. "Was it fun? It did look fun. Okay, now you can try it." And hoped that it would work on him. Well, let's see. Jackson did feel optimist that Toby could try this charm on his first try.
As the Hufflepuff student cast the spell, he felt his feet left the ground slowly. Woot! Lucky that he's not afraid of height. Then he felt that he's going higher.. and higher... and higher... The Korean boy couldn't help but feel excited. "YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!" IT WAS SOOOO FUN!
He almost reached the hoop but then he was back on the ground and landed to the trampoline-like floor. BOUNCE! "That's was soooooooooo fun!! You did a good job, mate!" He beamed happily. "Do you want to try again?" He offered.

Eden liked Hughbert as a partner because he wasn't flippin' distracting. Right down to business, he was. HMPH. The Ravenclaw just twirled her wand a bit, watching him...think? And nodded when he said she could go first.
"All right. No problem. Hope you're not scared of heights, Hughbert," she said with an eyebrow quirk. Clearing her throat, the seventh year thought she would count down in order to give him a LITTLE prep time, yeah? "On three, okay?...one....two..." she held her wand aloft, "three---ALARTE ASCENDARE!" she cried, the spell shooting out of the end of her wand towards Hugh.
She just hoped he made it up through the hoop.

This was easy. "Your turn."
"Thanks!'' Adi said. He was happy that he had at least gotten Mikey up a bit but he was aiming for the other guy to go a whole lot more higher. "Yep, sure. Go on!'' ADI WAS READY! YEAHHH!
Annnnd UPPP he went! "I CAN flyyyyy!!! Woops. He had started off that in a rather loud voice but halfway through he remembered that Professor Maddox despised loud noises. Heh. No noises from this from this Puffer. Nope.
Wheeee! Adi was shooting up in the ceiling's direction at a speed, yo! Mikey obviously had a hang of the spell better than he did.
But all too soon it was over and Adi was back on his feet. "Awesome job, Mikey! You did better than I did.'' So how about a fist bump? His left fist was waiting. Hehe.
"I think I'll try again,'' the Puffer stated eyeing the hoop. Mikey was going through that hoop this time. "Alarte Ascendare!'' Concentrate and BRANDISSSH! Off went the Gryffindor called Mikey... closer, closer, closer... and THROUGH the hoop! WOOT!
"That was much better,'' he stated as Mikey descended, pleased with himself.

Toby couldn't help but laugh to himself at seeing Jackson's reaction. Kid sure was enthusiastic about it, and Toby understood why. It was FUN, he knew that, he'd LIVED that. He grinned in response to the praise and instantly nodded his head.
"Sure!" He'd try and get him up through the hoop EXTRA hard this time. "If I manage it you can try the spell again on me, yeah?" Extra practice, mainly 'cause this was such a fun spell. "Okay, here it comes."
Toby held up his wand again and, after clearing his throat ready to ENUNCIATE, brandished his wand and spoke the incantion. "Alarte Ascendare!"
And up up uppppp Jackson went. But would he reach the ring enough to light it up?

Toby wanted to try casting the spell again? Okaaaaay.... HE WAS SOOOO READY!
As the older student cast the spell, he closed his eyes and felt that slooooowly his feet were leaving the ground. Then he went up up up.... And now Jackson could reach the hoop! But he still went higher until his head hit the ceiling. Good that it wasn't hurt since Professor Quigley had designed the ceiling became soft and bouncy so if somebody hit it, they wouldn't be injured and ended up in hospital wing. Enough, Jackson. Then he landed softly at the ground. "Okay, now it's your turn." Brandishing his wand to Toby, he performed the spell. "Alarte Ascendare!"

SPOILER!!: Norah!
Hady grinned at her friend as she had reached out to keep her from falling over. That was nice of her. Norah was a very hyper happy kind of girl but she was also really cool. How come they never hung about outside of lessons? Hmm she'd have to find her around the castle sometime, it could be fun.
Anyhow as she had given the spell a good try she watched the little bit older girl fly upwards. Not as high as Hady would've liked but it was certainly something and a decent start. "Yup. Next time though you're going much higher," she insisted instantly. It was to much fun to not give it her best go and make the other girl get the same feeling she had of flying.
Stepping backwards a step or two she gave a nod of her head towards the Hufflepuff. She was ready when she was.

SPOILER!!: Angel
How long, how high, it all didn't matter to her. AJ was just along for the ride. As long as her feet were off the ground then she was good. "As high as you can get me." Other than being in an airplane AJ had never been in the sky, so it was safe to say she was super excited. "I'm ready whenever you are." In case she didn't know. Let's goooooo... she was getting antsy.
The magical words had left her sisters mouth. Yes, this was it. Any moment now she would be soaring through the air. That is if her sister managed to get the spell right. Had she mentioned that she had total faith? Because AJ so did.
Then it happened. AJ was airborne and it felt AMAZING. In fact, she would love to just hang around up here for as long as she could. AJ closed her eyes and breathed in deep. Ah, magic was so cool. It never failed to amaze at all the epic things wizards could do. Thank goodness her and her sisters were special in the long line of muggles in her family. "Higher, higher," she cooed. Did Angel have control over that once she was already in the air? Who knows, but AJ secretly hoped she could get even higher!

Natalia was ready; she was always ready.
Not knowing what to expect, Natalia closed her eyes and waited for Brooklyn to to perform the spell. When the fourth year had heard the spell 'Alarte Ascendare' being uttered, she clutched herself for a thrilling ride.
Oooh, ooh! She felt it! Some sort of imperceptible force pulled her feet away from the floor for a few seconds. Drifting in altitude, Natalia opened her eyes and glanced down, observing that she had only sailed a couple of inches above the classroom floor.
When the force vanished, Natalia's feel immediately dropped to the ground. "Not bad!" The Lioness nodded in approval.
It was Natalia's turn again.
"Ready?" She held her wand steady and concentrated solely on the spell. "Alarte Ascendare!"
