It's bright and early Monday morning and time for the first Charms lesson of the term. As you enter, you notice the room is in it's typical set up with the desks and chairs lined in three neat rows to allow easy access should the Professor need to move about--though this is highly unlikely.
The windows, as usual are wide open letting in the natural light from the outdoors. Nothing like a little fresh air and a BRIGHT classroom to keep everyone awake after what was a large breakfast.
The Professor stands to the front, leaned against his desk waiting for the students to arrive. If he looks tired, he probably is...but that's nothing new, is it? Behind him the board remains blank for now except for these instructions:

So Tia had actually thought she was saying correctly, but when Quigley corrected her pronunciation ... when he said her surname ... she may have smiled just a little bit. Right. Alarte. She knew that.
"Right, thank you," Tia said politely, brandishing her wand again at the crumpled parchment. "Alarte Ascendare!" The parchment shot a few feet off the ground before landing softly in the same spot.

"That will be 2 points from Ravenclaw for yelling, Miss McGee. I will not tolerate loud noises in my class." The activities were a bit....different....given he tended to go all out with that but certainly not while they were practising. It was uncalled for.
"I'll need everyone to grab a partner," Which also also reminded him, "Aubrey, Adi, I don't want you two working together." They were far too much a distraction, as evidenced by reports he got back from the Examiner on the boy's OWL practical. "The aim of this activity will be--you guessed it--shooting each other up into the air. Try to get your partner at least waist high through that hope up there otherwise it won't light up. If there are no questions, you may begin. Don't worry too much about hitting the ceiling, it's been padded down with extra soft, plushy material for just this occasion."
OOC: Final activity guys! You'll need five posts to get full credit for this activity. Just have your charries practising the spell on each other to get at least half way through the hoop. I'll close this class on Friday morning at around 10 am GMT -5 ^^
And then it was time for the next activity. Partner time it seemed and WHAT? They had to shoot each other into the air? Wasn't this DANGEROUS? Like the ceiling was padded, sure, but what about the ground .... crashing down on the hard stone castle floor. What if she sprained an ankle or something?
Well she reckoned the healer could mend them and probably have Quigley's head for such a dangerous activity
Maybe she just ought to choose a Hufflepuff for a partner this time; they were friendly enough that wouldn't harm her.

Weren't they just been taught that shooting humans up in the air wasn't a good idea? And,did the room just turned into a trampoline arena too?! Now that was really cool!
Henric thought of asking Adi to be his partner but then again,it wouldn't be a good idea too. That huffie prefect no doubt had every intention to get him back and tossing him up like a pancake was a great opportunity to do so.
He slipped quietly away from Adi so he could find a partner with a much gentler intention to practice with , oh goody goody! He saw llia standing not too far from where he stood. He walked right up behind her and tapped her shoulder,"Need a partner?"he grinned.

Was it that much different to launch someone else into the air? She supposed it had some difference and worked a bit towards her self defense theory. The question was.......who was she honestly going to trust to launch her into the air!? She loved to fly, don't get her wrong,.......but having someone shoot you into the air was a bit different. It would be almost like consenting to become a quidditch bludger......and she was more of a seeker herself.
While she was sizing up the crowd, trying to see what her options were, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned quickly on one foot, and her gaze was met by Henric. Need a partner? "Do I ever!" She grinned back in relief. If there was one person in the mad house she would trust with anything close to her life, it would be her best friend / toad co-parent.
She took Henric's hand and walked to an unoccupied section of the room. "Who should launch who first?" She then thought of how she shot the little paper ball into the roof and became nervous for his safety. "Umm.....how about you launch me?" She wasn't much shorter than Henric, but she was smaller and might fly higher.....plus she wouldn't feel the awkward guilt of accidentally shooting her bestie into the roof. O.o

As she had picked up her parchment ball for the fourth time, Professor Quigley spoke and asked them to stop. Well that was fun, she was sure the next bit would be just as fun. She smiled, impressed, as all the desks had disappeared, and then gasped as the floor began to sink. WHAT WAS IT?! But that wasn't all - the ceiling was getting higher and higher. Zhenya had a sneaky suspicion they were going to be doing something that required space above and a soft landing. And what was with the hoop?
She unravelled her parchment ball carefully and put it in the box, just in time to hear the aim. She was excited. That would be FUN! She was curious to see what it would feel like, too. Being shot up into the air. Well, doubtful that she would be shot up into the air, being much heavier than a parchment ball, but who knew? Someone could be a natural with the spell.
She looked around to see if anyone didn't have a partner. "Anyone want a partner?" she asked around.

Life wasn't like that though... but at least it was Tia, who seemed to be just as terrified. If she couldn't do it with her boyfriend, the younger Ravvie was her second choice. They could be scared together! "Sounds good to me." Small smile. And looked like she was going first.
Trying to keep her hand steady, she brandished her wand at Tia. "Alarte Ascendare!" Ugh, clearly that was a fail because Lux was having a hard time focusing when she was so scared.

He doubt he would do anything though, he just managed to lift the crumpled paper in the air by a few inches.He didn't think he could do the spell on a person. Like usual she kept silent as the Professor spoke only moving when they were told to put their parchment into the box. Making her way over to the front of the room she dropped her crumbled ball of parchment in the box and then stepped back out of the way.
She watched in slight amazement as the chairs and desks vanished then the ceiling moved higher and higher as the floor dipped down and turned into a-a trampoline? What was going on here? Suddenly there was a huge hoop in the center and Professor Quigley was explaining what they'd be doing. Hady blinked trying to process the idea of someone using a spell to send her shooting up into the air and through a hoop...
Yeah what she needed was someone she could trust with this. Heights weren't a problem for her and she was certainly rather small for her age but still. Taking a few steps backwards she let her attention move about the room as people began to pair off...first she'd see if anyone came to her. If not then she'd have no choice but to ask someone herself.

Thank Merlin the ceiling was high enough - Natalia assumed no one would be able to propel a person more than a couple inches high. The fourth year started fussing over the safety of this activity... what if she was tossed, fell down on the hard ground, and broke her bones? Well, the more risky the better! *BEAM* Worrying is for the weak! No, Natalia really didn't mean that.
Partner. Partner. Natalia saw no one familiar in sight, so she would have to grab a random classmate and 'claim' him/her as her partner. Sounded like a good plan.
"Hallo, let's be partners." Natalia approached the nearest non-taken classmate, a girl possibly slightly younger than herself.
Brooklyn hadn’t expected it to be easy to get a partner. It usually wasn’t. Either that, or she partnered up with Hady, but she couldn’t quite remember where her housemate was when it came to the classroom. For all she knew, Hady was somewhere entirely different from where she’d been earlier, given how much the room had changed in a short period of time. Therefore, she’d just stayed where she was, slightly bouncing because of the floor. People could find her. Even though she was short, it wasn’t as if she wasn’t noticeable. At least, in her opinion she wasn’t.
She was losing hope though, as people had paired up around her. She saw Lux pair up with a Claw girl, and a few others starting to pair up. She’d figure out how to work on her own if she had to. Except…suddenly she heard a voice speaking from next to her, and she turned to see a Gryffindor girl that she thought was new. She didn’t remember her from the previous terms, anyway, but she also didn’t look like a firstie. More like her age or maybe a bit older, but that was okay. As long as Gryffindor girl wasn’t afraid of accidentally hitting the ceiling or anything. “Okay,” she said finally. She’d figure out how to accomplish the spell, anyway. People weighed a lot more than balls of parchment.

"Can IIIIII be your partner?" This was a FUN exercise so it obviously needed a FUN person. And the Snake fit the bill if y'asked her, which nobody did but she thought so anyways.
This was a dream come TRUE, really, 'cause flying and stuff. Maybe if they begged hard enough Professor Quigley would bring out some trampolines and it'd get even BETTER.

Zhenya had worked with her fellow Slytherin while Henric... he worked with a Slytherin girl too. He spotted an older Hufflepuff student stood alone. Maybe he wanted to be his partner. So, why didn't he ask? "Hello?" Jackson greeted him and smiled. "You want to work together?"

Zhenya smiled at the young snake, glad she was nice and friendly. "No problem, I'm glad you're my partner," she said. She didn't want to be trying to fling herself into the air. Echo. "Nice name," she smiled, "I'm Zhenya Burton," she said, shaking Echo's hand.
Another smile, "Sure I can go first." she looked around to make sure they were standing in a good spot - check. "Alarte Ascendare," she said, brandishing her wand towards Echo.

She stood back like he told her to, and she watched him get into position. She tested the floor like he did and made sure it was spongy enough to break her fall....in case it DIDN"T go so well. The bouncing was fun and she had high hopes.....of not getting broken."Ok, in position. Concentrate and make sure you have the words right."
He used her last name? How odd....though she hoped to soar like a falcon as her surname implied. "Give me all you've got Nicolei." She spoke confidence, but she then closed her eyes and breathed in deep to calm her nerves as she bounced a little. It was probably pretty obvious that she was not so sure about this. Please don't let me hit the roof, don't break me, please don't break me. Princess needs a mom still.
She saw him get ready and shut her eyes back tight, bracing herself for ascension when.........."That isn't getting the words right!" She stomped her foot and gave him a dark look. Haha.......jerk. Scaring her and being mean for no reason.....
She crossed her arms, giving him back sass, and gave him a small smirk. "Fine then, your turn to fly." She branished her wand at him confidently. "Alarte Ascendare!" Would he move? Would he shoot into the air? Would he hit the roof? She wasn't fully sure, but she really hoped he wouldn't bounce off of the roof like the second , unsquished paper ball.

Sooooooo... this was gonna be awesome. At first he didn't think the Professor would let them use it on other PEOPLE, he expected bigger objects, but THIS, was gonna be SO COOOL.
After surrendering his parchment ball, he - with his wand in his hand - stood on a chair to gain the attention of a prospective partner.
"I need a partner!" he called out, "Anyone?" Not desperate to shoot people in the air AT ALL.

"You wanna cast the charm first or shall I?" She asked shifting about slightly as she looked from Norah to the hoop and then back trying to best judge how hard this might be. Sure she'd been able to work the charm just fine earlier but that was on a ball or parchment not an actual living, breathing human being. This was going to be different.

"Do you want to go first?" Natalia referred to being tossed in the air. "Yeah, okay." Without waiting for a reply, Natalia proceeded with her own plan; she was going to perform the spell first on the other girl.
"Wait, what's your name?" Natalia didn't want to call 'hey there', 'yo there', 'ayo there' throughout this whole activity.
"Well tell me later, I'm starting right now!" Being as impatient as always, the fourth year Lioness held her wand steady and pointed at the Claw. Ready or not, here it is!
"Alarte Ascende...are!" Whoops. Brain Fart. It was not going to be a pleasant result, was it? Natalia could tell right when she had let out those words that this would not turn out so great.
Kace heard Professor Maddox mention they were going to fly their partner up in the air!? Woaaahh now that sounded like his kind of fun. He was quite excited for this activity though. He grinned and he looked around the room and wondered who could be his partner? He frankly didn't know who was in the class till he actually looked around. Mannn there was a lot of students here!
So this was just practicing and now they're moving on to shoot up a student into the air. Oh my. That sounded dangerous... but fun. And this time he needed more concentration to he wouldn't injure any student that would be his partner. Also, he needed a partner.
Looking around, the Korean guy tried to find a familiar face to work together. But it seemed they had picked their partners. Zhenya had worked with her fellow Slytherin while Henric... he worked with a Slytherin girl too. He spotted an older Hufflepuff student stood alone. Maybe he wanted to be his partner. So, why didn't he ask? "Hello?" Jackson greeted him and smiled. "You want to work together?"
People were pairing off left right and centre, and heading off to get started, but that was okay! That just meant that it was easier to see who WASN'T in a pair already. Bright siiiiiiiiiide.
Toby just sort of chilled out there for a bit, not too fussed that he'd not found anyone yet. It always happened eventually. And, yep! Here was someone now! As soon as Toby realised the Gryffindor boy was about to address HIM, he automatically smiled.
"Hey!" So cheerful, so very cheerful. "Sure, that sounds great." And, just because he didn't know this boy (had never actually seen him before, in fact), Toby introduced himself. "I'm Toby. Seventh year." Boy, that sounded weird to say out loud. "Would you like to try the charm on me first, or should I go first instead?"
Toby was totally okay with whatever the other boy wanted, and he grinned brightly at him to prove it.

Hugh was lathargic so when time was called on the first activity he could not have been more relieved. He'd done enough of it to understand what they were doing. A little more preparation would not have hurt....but he had this, yo.
Managing to stand a little straighter (the food baby was strong with the Hughbert) he glanced around the room for a partner. He needed one of those as he couldn't very well toss himself into the air.
Yooooooo, maybe he was actually tossing himself into the air. If he thought so he knew he existed logic said he could not be sure the others existed. WHICH MEANT that they could have been a figment of his imagination. WHICH MEANT maybe he was just tossing himself.

Okay so that hadn’t gone exactly according to plan. McAlistor definitely had other things on her mind and when the Professor announced that they were going to be shooting each other into the air, Michael decided it was best to find a different partner.
Preferably someone around his own age, the thought of a firstie casting on him was just a little disconcerting. Thankfully he spotted a Slytherin nearby who appeared to be the perfect candidate.

Eden frowned a little when Quigley took points away from her...sigh. She didn't like that, and she sank a little in her seat. She had only been trying to help.....but it was okay. It was.
She couldn't linger on it. It would affect her spell work. Maybe she would just say she was sorry after...because she KNEW it would bother her...especially since she liked Quiggles...and respected the man.
SIGH.
It just meant she had to be REALLY good at this activity...whatever it was...and as Quiggles explained it, she nodded and started to look around for whom she could ask to be a parrrrrtna'. She was actually pretty goooood at the spell...and she wouldn't drop her partner...she PROMISED.
She spotted Hugh nearby, and caught the 'shy's' for a second as she blushed. "Hugh...Hugh do you wanna' partner up? Please?" she asked softly..she didn't dislike Hugh...He was...interesting.
In the meantime...."Alarte Ascendare!" she said clearly, aiming for the crumbled up paper ball...sending it up into the air. Just for practice reasons and...you know, to show Hugh she wouldn't be a TERRIBLE partner.

Minister Zeke however was smaller than him, so he reckon he’d be easier to lift…plus the kid looks like he wanted a challenge? Definitely, it’s a win-win situation.
The Slytherin grinned at the kid and pointed a dramatic finger at him. “YOU. I want you.” Hey, hi! Waaaaaave.
