Default Astronomy Lesson 1 :: Activity on the Black Lake

Making the long trek down from the Astronomy Tower to the Black Lake, you may be a bit surprised to see what looks like a large circular platform floating out about 50 yards into the water. While you can't make out exactly what they are at the moment because of the distance, you are able to see small colorful blobs in each of the four Hogwarts' house's colors. The water, which you may be accustomed to looking calm, appears a bit uneasy and laps up onto the shore with a bit more gusto than usual.

Woah...wait...was that a tentacle just now?!

Professor Flamsteed, with the usual eager grin upon his face, beckons you all to continue following him as he steps into the water and...APPEARS TO BE WALKING ON IT?! Following his lead, you discover this not to be the case but rather there is a slightly submerged platform that allows you to walk out to the floating game arena. Aren't you glad you brought the proper footwear today?

One you have arrived at the floating platform, you discover that the colorful shapes are actually sandcastles scattered about haphazardly around the perimeter with some closer to the edge than others. The water from the lake laps up against the platform and just barely comes over the top of it. Hmmm...how very peculiar...

Oh man, class was really over? Zhenya was a bit disappointed, but she did admit to herself that she was a bit tired now. She wasn't used to all the running around usually. She walked over to the edge of the platform, not knowing where the Giant Squid was, but said "Thank you for the waves Bartholomew Henry." Yeah, that was nice right? She clapped for the Gryffindors and said "Congratulations," to a few who were around her. Especially to Jackson. His first year as a Lion and his house had won! Great news. She walked up to Professor Flamsteed and said, very very happily, "I think that was the BEST lesson!" Siriusly. It was. And then... "I learnt a lot about the moon that I never knew, and the practical made it click in my head a bit more." That bit was true. Her brain was sometimes a bit mushy when it came to Astronomy. In theory she loved the lesson, she loved looking at the stars and planets, and she wished she was better at it. But realistically she struggled with the lesson, something she was working on. But learning then doing was great to help the information really sink in. All in all, 10/10 for that lesson.

I like shiny things.

Poking his head fully out of the water, the giant squid waved as many tentacles as he could manage and still stay afloat in parting.

Fare thee well students, and professor. He was now off to relax and devour a few grindylows after that rigorous workout.
