Armour Gallery

One of the corridors on the third floor is home to a large collection of armour. Be careful not to touch or the caretaker, Finn, may give you detention to clean up your fingerprints (and everyone else's). Also, did you know the armour moves? It's also heavily armed.

The more you know. :music:

It was only a floor up from her office but Annie didn't often visit the Armour Gallery. She was just passing by it today though, and happened to notice how shiny the armour all looked. So shiny, why, she could see her reflection in them...

Of course the Headmistress had to stop and admire her own appearance, leaning in toward the chestplate of one of the armours and fluffing her hair. Oi, was that a spot of lipstick on her tooth? She leaned in a little closer and dug a bit of tissue out of her purse, to wipe that silly smudge away...

Ben had been debating going to see Professor Quigley about some extra charms practice. However after feeling like he had messed up in his meeting with the new defense professor, the sixth year Gryffindor was having doubts. Which was precisely why was on the third floor, around a corner or new from the charms office yet no closer. His feet leading him to wander towards the armour gallery.

However at the sound of heeled footsteps in front of him, it seemed he wasn't the only one there. He was soon greeted by the sight of a certain red-headed professor. "Um...hello Headmistress," he greeted politely.

Ooh, and.... theeeeeere, she had wiped the smudge away. Annie heard footsteps coming around the corner but didn't stand up until she was ready. "Hello," she returned the greeting in a hushed voice, much, much more quietly than the boy had. The Headmistress quickly pressed a finger to her lips, motioning for Benny to do the same.

Upon closer inspection, it seemed the woman was cleaning one of the suits of armour for some reason. The house-elves not do a good enough job? And then Truebridge returned his greeting, albeit quieter, which seemed a little odd until she motioned for him to be quiet. The Gryffindor tentatively mimicked the movement to physically show he understood though as he remained quiet he couldn't help but wonder why they were being silent.

"How are you?" the Headmistress continued in a whisper, moving a little bit further into the armour gallery and wondering if the Gryffindor would follow. Surely he would; Gryffindors were lions, and lions were just big cats, and everyone knew all cats were curious. She hadn't been in the gallery in a while and wanted to see how it was being kept up. No dust or bugs around, eh?

The headmistress broke the silence first, asking after him and how he was. Not quite what he expected. "Alright..." he answered just as quietly before tentatively continuing. "...and yourself?" It was only fair to return the question out of politeness, even as the woman started moving away from him and further along the armour gallery. Just what was she interested in or heading towards so quietly? Benny hadn't the faintest clue but he couldn't help it. He moved to follow...his movements slow but deliberate.

Her rap-inspiration box was empty and well when you needed a refill of such, then an adventure was never a bad idea. It was for that exact reason that the sixth year wandered randomly about the ancient castle. She'd been expressing herself a lot through her raps lately; perhaps she'd never become a full on rapper but you know expression was a wonderful thing in Abbi's eyes-especially if it meant SASS and ATTITUDE. Ahem. Not that she was rude or anything, nooope not at all. Ahem. Ahem.

AH. YASS KNIGHTS.

She rushed towards them as if about to pounce on them in a battle. Now what stories could they tell? Or-wait. They weren't the talkable-type as the portraits were...uh...ANYTHING THEN? Please like she needed SOME sort of inspiration.

HELLO?

Abbi casually began waving her hand in front of one of them, as if it would make any difference to her inspiration blockage.

Benzi was lost.

Not physically lost. He'd wondered around this castle enough over the past however long they'd been here to know how to sleepwalk his way from the dungeons to the library, return a book then climb to the astronomy tower for a spot of star gazing, all without opening his eyes. Navigation wasn't his problem.

At the moment, he just felt lost. He'd been back at school no more than a few days now and everything felt... weird. Not having come back with everyone felt weird. Not having regular band meetings felt weird. And seeking comfort in a bunch of stationary armours definitely felt weird. He was losing it.

Er. Actually this girl was probably losing it more than him. She kind of looked familiar.. "You know, no matter how hard you wave I promise you they won't start talking," he said to the girl he could just about make out from where he was leaning against the wall, behind many armours and in the shadows.

YASS! The armour was tal-oh-no...nevermind.

The sixth year sighed dramatically. Even if she had imagined it talking she would of been satisfied. All she was asking for was some inspiration, not the impossible or anything. Well then, was this talker going to do that for her then? Her eyes lifted as she paused her waving and glimpsed in the direction of the voice.

Oh em gee. No. Yes. And No. Ugh!

She could scarcely see, but she thought she knew who it was and if it was thought-person, then Abbi was not going to be all smiles and pearly whites. Unless....could he give her something to rap about? Perhaps? Maybe? Hello Inspiration?

"I'm not silly, thank you very much." An eyeroll followed. "Just trying to...think." That was what she stuck with because 'finding inspiration' would sound silly, or so she thought.

Not silly? Sure, girl-talking-to-inanimate-objects. Sure. That wasn't silly at all, it was borderline mad. The kind of mad that leads one to be put in St. Mungo's. And not in the fun part where you go in for two minutes and you're out again.

"And waving at the armours helps you to think? I wish it were as easy for the rest of us," he mused, having not moved an inch from his current location and therefore missing her eyeroll. He was very comfortable back here, he had no wish to move at all. Even if holding a conversation like this seemed rather silly. Yes, silly.

2 - Charms Homework #2

From one collection (congregation? swarm? band? mob?) of suits of armour, Toby suddenly found himself in the midst of another. It hadn't been intentional; maybe his brain had taken the first stroke of genius and ran with it, or maybe it had been completely unintentional. Either way, he was here, and all these suits of armour were free to be charmed.

Toby approached one now, standing up on his tippy-toes and trying to see in through the visor, as he had done probably a thousand times already in his Hogwarts career. As usual, he saw nothing, and stepped again.

"Colovaria." He pointed his wand at the suit of armour and, just like the one before, it turned that awesome, warm sort of gold-ish yellow. It was super cool to watch.

Once it had totally changed colour, Toby noted down the location of the armour before heading back the way he'd came. Maybe he'd try finding some other objects now. Change it up a bit.

Her eye-rolling game was on point by now and that was exactly what she continued doing: rolled her eyes at him-again. He misunderstood her concept of thought completely and thus he left her with no choice but to explain further. Just to make sure that she wouldn't look like someone with zero brain cells or anything like that, you know?

Hand on her hip, she began to explain. "They're not making me think. I was just looking for some 'inspo' for my rapping, because I can't write about nothingness can I?" BELLS!!!! BECAUSE NOTHINGNESS-maybe that needed to be her topic. ........but it seemed so gloomy. Nah. She wanted something more alive than that. Did *he* have anything he could offer her?

"Any better suggestions, huh?" she asked.
