OOC: For the sake of timeline ease, let's say this lesson is occurring BEFORE all the acromantulas attacking the castle.
Spring had finally arrived in Scotland, and with it came warmer weather. Though it was currently raining outside, it was a warm rain, and if you looked carefully you could probably spot some denizens of Hogwarts out for a stroll in the light shower. Other than the extra lights Professor Tanner employed to combat the gloomy weather, there isn't much different about the room that would give a hint as to the day's activities. The abundance of cobwebs seen around the castle, however, is not as bad in this room, as Tiara arrived early to clean up as much as possible.
Professor Tanner, dressed in summery mustard-yellow robes, stands at the front of the room ready to greet her eager Arithmancers as they enter.

Janelle was so caught up in watching the other players that she almost missed her next turn. Fortunately, she realized just in time. Moving away from her space for a moment, Janelle grabbed the nearest die. Then she walked back to space fifteen. Since blowing on the die did not seem to help, she decided to try something different this time. She tossed it up in the air and let it drop to the ground. Carefully watching it roll, Janelle hoped for the number that she needed.
It was not to be though because she rolled a six. Was she ever going to get a Karma card? Better to keep moving forward instead of having to move back, Janelle thought. So forward she went, moving her six spaces until she landed on her new square. Janelle decided that she would sit down in the middle of her square this time. She might as well relax while she was observing, yeah?

He just HAD to get past number forty six! Maybe the fourth time around would be the charm. Ahhh, Maggie and Toby were so close! Well, Maggie was one square ahead of him but who cared? Heyyyy, guys! Look they were buddies for this game! Sort of. Hehe.
Anyway, time to roll along. Get it? LOL. Adi was funny.
Ahhh, a seven! Cool! This took him to forty. Wheeee! Byeeee, Maggie! She got a cheery wave as Adi took off, leaping off to square forty. He had missed a yellow Karma card but there was another directly one square ahead of him. The Hufflepuff's only goal right now was to get past the jinxed square. If only he had gotten an eight...
Maggie glared after the Hufflepuff when he passed her. Like. Rude. SHE WAS IN THE LEAD. How dare he take that away from her? She was going to win this. And he could just go back to that first square or something. Peasants, seriously.
When it was her turn again, she rolled the dice and.....hehehehehehehhehhe. Got an EIGHT. You see that, Adi?? Because she certainly did. Smirking at the older boy when she PASSED HIM on her way to square #42, she actually turned around to be able to look at him once she'd reached it.
And then pointedly turned back around so he could see her BACK.

It was her turn again. AJ had to talk herself down from snatching the die off the ground and running back to her square. That would be very rude on her part, but she was currently losing and AJ Valentine did NOT lose. She just didn't. "I need a BIG number," she said to the die as if she always spoke to objects. Truth be told, she did.
Shake, shake, shake.
The die was rolling on the ground. What number would it stop on? Dun, DUN, DUUNNN. Nine. Oh yeah. Nine was a nice big number. In true karma board game fashion, she hopped all the way over to the ninth spot. Was that... Could it be...
A KARMA CARD.
AJ yanked it up. She got to move forward an extra ten spaces. WOOT. She was winning at this karma thing. As she walked over to her new spot on the shiny forty one square she smiled at Adi and a younger Slytherin girl. "My, my, my... how the tables have turned." She was on spot in front of the boyfriend, and one behind the Slytherin. Guess somebody wasn't living right, she thought. Perhaps taking this karma thing a teensy bit too logical.
Oh, but in the middle of her taunting she had missed another yellow karma card. AJ picked this one up. Another ten spaces ahead. Sweet baby unicorns. This had her passing up both Adi AND the snakey. Now, THIS was how you played the game.

Reason: I totally missed the second karma card. Thanks Lislchen. :D

Janelle was ready when her next turn came. She hopped up from the ground and got ready to roll. Picking up the die, she rolled it and gave it a little spin move this time. Janelle was anxious to continue moving along the game board and hopefully this turn would help to send her on her way. She moved closer to see the die and smiled when she saw TEN.
Janelle skipped along to her next space, just to make it interesting. Landing at her destination, she noticed that she had landed on a karma card......finally. Turning over the card, she was happy to see that she could move ahead ten spaces. More skipping ensued because Janelle was a very happy girl. When she got to her new spot she could not hold back her smile because she had another karma card. Janelle was sure that she would have to move backward, but when she checked the card, it allowed her to move forward another ten spaces. She was really rolliing now.

Adi was amused at the glare Maggie was giving him. Nah, he didn't take it personally. He watched her roll and then she was passing him. Hehe. She must be pleased. But then... AJ got a major leap, yo! She was ahead of them! But so was Janelle! GOOOOO, JANELLE! No doubt AJ would love the competition though.
His turn again!
Shake and roll!
ONE!
Adi took a step forward. YELLOW CARD! HA!
From forty one to fifty one he went.
"Byeeee, Maggie. Hiiii, AJ and Janelle.''

After Janelle finished her silent celebration, she acknowledge the classmate that had arrived on the space before her. "Hi A.J.", she said. Before Janelle could continue the conversation, there was another student dropping in. "What's up Adi. Fancy meeting you here." Well wasn't this nice and cozy?
Not wanting to be the third wheel with the lovely couple, Janelle was ready to move on. Not a moment too soon, it was time for her next turn. Grabbing the die, she did her lucky roll again. Two. Oh well, she couldn't be too greedy. She had gotten two karma cards in a row. Turning to her space-mates, Janelle said her goodbyes. "See you guys later." Off she went, counting off two spaces. Once at her next space, Janelle turned around to see where the others would end up.

Toby's go again, and here he was... ROLLING DAT DICE. C'moooooooooooon, lucky dicey.
P'shawww! A THREE. Keep moving foward, alright!
Of course, if Toby's memory was any good, he might have remembered what had happened last time he ended up on square thirty-six. Y'know, during his last term. But Toby's memory was, in fact, quite appalling. He was having to drum facts into it EXTRA hard for his NEWTs, hence why he was EXTRA LOOPY these days.
So anyway, Toby bounded forwards those three steps, BEAMING when he got his yellow karma card. TEN MORE STEPS WOOOOOO.
It wasn't until he reached square forty-six again that Tobias started to feel the straaaaaangest sensation of déjà vu. He'd... he'd done this before, hadn't he? He'd... had a yellow card... followed by a... wait a second.
"Whaaaaa...?" CONFUSED FACE: DEPLOYED. Followed by a dramatic pout, and turning those BIG SAD BLUE EYES onto the professor. Of course, he wasn't really truly actually sad, just pretending for funsies. Dramaz. Cue dramatic hand to the forehead before retracing his steps aaaaaaaaaaall the way back to square thirty-three. Where he DRAMATICALLY FLOPPED TO THE FLOOR.
"History is DOOMED to repeat itself, it seems." DRAMATIC HEAVY SIGH.
*giggle*
Then Toby got right back up, already back to happy and bouncing and READY TO ROLL. Well, when his next turn came, of course.

The square was small given that THREE persons were standing on it but hey! At least he had gotten past the jinxed one... only to have Toby fall prey to it. Ahahahaha! His House mate was hilarious. Adi ended up laughing at the reaction for a while. "Careful, Toby! I got stuck at thirty three thrice.'' Threes... hmmm. It was a pattern. Anywho...
A grin for Janelle. "I know right! Shall we go and leave AJ behind?'' Adi poked his girlfriend lightly on her shoulder as Janelle rolled, taking two steps ahead. Now his turn came around! Shake, shake, shake and roooooll! FOUR!
"Byeeee, AJ, byeee, Janelle.'' Adi bounded across his allotted squares to fifty five.

It seemed that the students were getting pretty spread out now. There was a large group in the fifty-something range, while a few unfortunate souls were still under twenty. "The karma is not good to you today, Miss Valentine," she called out to Angel sympathetically. She refrained from asking what mean thing she had done today to deserve this.

"Only eight minutes left in class, everyone! Get your last few rolls in!"
OOC: You guys seem to be having lots of fun, so I'll give you another day. We'll call it a wrap Monday evening EDT.

GAH! Eight minutes ONLY? Hmph. Adi was NOT pleased. Hoping that the others would hurry with their rolls, he hopped from foot to foot as he awaited his own. And then it was finally here again! YAY!
Adi shook the die, both of his hands enclosed around the thing. Annnnd let it roll!
SIX! Perfect!
It would take him past one of the bad Karma cards spot (woot!) and well as one of the good cards spot (bummer). But at least he would be further along the board. The Hufflepuff snagged the die off of the board then shuffled up to number sixty one.
They were passing her. And some of them had the audacity to look smug about it too. HOW RUDE!!!! Maggie glared at all of them, not ready to give up without a fight. The fact that this whole game was about luck didn't appear to be a problem. SHE WAS GOING TO WIN THIS!!!!!!!!!!
So when it was her turn she shook her hand that contained the dice hard. That helped, right? Yes. She eventually rolled it and....seven. That wasn't too bad. And it meant she passed one of those bad karma cards. Phew. Another one was still ahead of her, though.
Also other PEOPLE were still ahead of her. UGH!

"But these are the only eyes I have, Professor," Toby replied, and he MIGHT have got all sensitive about thinking he was actually properly really getting told off, were it not for Tanner totally laughing as well. Ehehehe. Toby gave her his most innocent grin before taking the dice for his next turn. Only eight minutes left whaaaaaat?!
He made it quick, choosing not to take a billion years to shake up the dice before rolling it, and the number? EIGHT. YOOOOOOO. NOT a three, which was good, or he'd have ended up right back here again.
On Toby went, taking eight big ol' steps and leaping from square to square, until he reached square forty-one. And... GAAAASSSSPPPPPPPP!!!!! YELLOW KARMA CARD! Toby gave a great "WOOP!" at and advanced forwards another ten steps, bypassing two 'bad' karma card squares on the way (and feeling a little guilty for feeling happy about that... poor squares, they couldn't help it) and stopping again, now on square 51. NICE.
Oh hey, and he'd passed Maggie. HI MAGGIE! More waves for Maggie.

More glares from Maggie meant more amusement of Adi's part. It was nice to see she had her competitive game on. And Toby! He had gone up to number fifty one without being stuck on thirty three again! Some fellas had all the luck. Adi could bet if he hadn't been stuck on that jinxed square, he would have won this by now.
Oh, well.
His turn had arrived again. After another healthy shake, he let the die fly. Nine! the Hufflepuff snagged up the cubed object and began moon walking his way to square seventy. Or he tried to, anyway, but he screwed up epically and almost landed on his butt. The only way he was saved was because he somehow managed to flail around to regain his balance.
Silly boy.
Hehe. Anyway, he was at his destination. Square seventy!

Kate was getting restless again. Her mother always said that little kids couldn't stand still for long periods of time. Even though at thirteen Kate thought she was all grown up, she still figured she was lumped into that little kid category. After all, she was only a second year.
Her turn had arrived again, though, and so with an excited expression and jump to her step, she picked up the die and rolled it. TEN. A big number! That was the first time she'd managed something besides a lonely little one or two! Maybe she could advance in the game, too, which would be good seeing as everybody else was waaaaay ahead of her.
Kate moved forward to space twenty-one. It was a blank space, but at least she was almost to the third row!

Adi kept shuffling from one square to the other (the two on either side of 70) as he waited for his turn. It kind of sucked that some persons were so far back and it didn't seem they would be able to finish the game before class time. But here's to hoping he would. There were just a few Karma spaces standing in his way.
Anywhooo, here came his turn again! The die gave him a one. Bummer. Oh well. Adi hopped up to the square directly ahead of him. He glanced at Tanner. Surely the time was up by now? Or almost? Couldn't she prolong the class just a tiiiiiiny bit?
He used his foot, this time, to nudge the dice back towards him across the floor, figuring he had a better reach with his legs than with his arms. And yep, not a problem, soon he was back in business and, quite literally, ready to roll.
And so he did. And he rolled a TWO. Nice.
Toby took one... two steps forward, and found himself on square fifty-three... right behind the blue karma square. Eep. No more bad karma pls. ONLY HAPPINESS ALLOWED TODAY.

Angel was enjoying this, quietly missing all the karma cards, that was the aim of the game. Now all she had to do was roll again. She rolled the dice and got a three, yeah in between two Karma cards, yippee.
Angel moved forwards and then she heard what the Professor said. "It's cool Professor, I'm totally used to being the last one around the board, I can't seem to roll high numbers for some reason."

Man, this was a close race, but that's what made it so much fun. It really got the adrenaline pumping. "Hey, Janelle." She beamed at the younger girl. Oh, Adi thought he was going to pass her up did he? "We will just see about that." Only Adi was having some good karma over there because he took off. He wasn't that far ahead of her though. This game proved that you could easily catch up.
Her turn. Move out of the way people. Heh.
She shook the die extra hard and her cheeks were flapping because of it. Yeah, she still really wanted to win. That was never going to change about her. The die hit the floor. Four. It could have been higher, but what can you do? AJ hopped on to the square that was fifty five. She was coming for you, Adi. Don't get comfortable over there in your seventies, sir.

So Tia was pretty sure she missed like more than half her turns. Stupid OWL exhaustion setting in. How was she even supposed to stay awake for her exams if she could barely stay awake for her lessons these days?
Sighing, she grabbed the dice as soon as it became available and rolled. Better late than never, huh? Five. Stepping onto the giant game board, she walked five spaces up. Her classmates, meanwhile close to the end... no way she could ever catch up. Can she sleep yet?

AJ bit her bottom lip as she watched everybody have their turn. Phew. There weren't that many people close to her. As much as she loved people, she wanted them far, far away because that meant winning. When it was her turn once more, she picked up and threw the die without shaking it all that much. Maybe this way would work out better for her.
When the die came to a stop on the floor, she looked over and saw that it was on the number six. It definitely wasn't a ten, but it would do. Better than a one, that was for sure.
This time she walked like a normal person to the six spaces ahead of her. Gaining on Adi, she was. Woot. Too bad she didn't get to pick up a karma card. So far she was having great luck with those.

The bell was about to ring if her watch was correct. "This will have to be everyone's last turn now! You can stay a bit past the bell as well." Fortunately lunch was next, so they would not be worrying about being late to class. Because they would certainly all worry about that..

Oh, YAY! It was Kate's turn again! She had been getting kind of restless on that number twenty-one, so she was glad to be moving. Hopefully it would be a move forward and not backward, because she looked to be kind of lonely over here on row two.
Kate rolled the die. EIGHT!
Eight had to be good, right? It was a nice, high number. Kate walked forward eight spaces, putting her on the twenty-ninth space. BLANK. There was a nice little yellow karma right in front of her, too. BOO.
<--- Random | Funfetti | Lima Bean | Slytherpuff | PURPLE | Hoarder of pens | ALWAYS Severus
Nooo. She wasn't ready to leave just yet. It was starting to get really intense. Wait. What? Was AJ actually not ready to leave a class? What was this life? Okay. She was totally hooked on this game. There she admitted it to herself. It was probably very clear to everyone else. It was one of those things that she really wanted to see through.
This time it seemed like forever before it was her turn again. She tried to patiently wait for the person before her to go. Finally. Grabbing the die for what felt like the hundredth time, she let it roll.
NINE! Oh yeah. That was an excellent number. An excellent number indeed. AJ walked forward and stopped longingly on square number sixty nine. Why couldn't she have rolled an eight? Then she would have gotten a karma card that would have advanced her right on past Adi. As luck or karma? would have it that wasn't going to happen this turn. She stopped right behind Adi. "It's not over yet."
There were people ahead of her. She could see people's BACKS! That wasn't fair. Would they maybe let her win if she started to cry? Was fourteen too old to do that? She let her lower lip quiver a little as she rolled the dice.
And got 10. Wow.
That still only got her to square 59 though.
More wibbling.
Passing Toby on the way, Maggie pouted at him. Maybe he could do something. He was a Hufflepuff. Maybe they could combine their squares and....yes, maybe she would even share her win. Could they do that?
