Keep your eyes on your Common Room notice boards for a special activity coming this school year. And with that, please enjoy the feast, look to your prefects to lead you back to your common rooms, and let us all have a great year. Thank you." She smiled once firmly at the students and then returned to her seat the other way, by passing Sophia and Cosgrach and that end of the table. Mmm. The food had appeared and it looked GREAT.

Ivy gave them all a pleasant smile (she had been practicing) and a small round of applause at the end of her speech and then returned her voice level back to normal so they could all return to the party.

Then Cutty was casting some silver thing and then... said professor Bellaire should be on her way there. The fifth year looked at him and considered what he was saying. Now that would be brilliant. Agatha just thought Cutty should've kept his mouth shut about their professor's imminent arrival. She was sure those two idiots would put their wands away before the woman got there.

Eh, so much for a good show.

The astronomy merely shrugged. He was fairly certain the Charms professor never really mounted a broom - certainly had never seen the bloke at quidditch tryouts, that was for sure. But before he could respond, the staircases started acting completely insane. He had just enough time to pull one of his legs completely away, his left was a little slow on the uptake, and the toes on his left foot unfortunately fell victim to the stone crashing against stone.

"FUDGESTICKS! FISSION! FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSION" he howled as he rocked back and smacked his head against the ground. Howling a bit more as the crashing of the staircases continued, he heard more alarmed voices coming from below (????). Rolling on to his side to peer through the gaps in the banisters, he noticed two Slytherins - and a house elf - battling with the staircases as well.

Rolling now on to his other side, he unceremoniously plopped Pebbles in the Gryffindor's lap and offered a ridiculously over dramatic salute. "Take good care of her, Miss Neverwinter," he instructed. "Don't abandon her should the worst happen like the Headmistress did when dementors attacked." That woman was NEVER living that down. NEVER. Not even after he had given her a festive mug as a thank you for his staff promotion.

Hobbling a bit - thanks to some broken toes - the Astronomy professor too a gallant leap onto the wild staircase and somersaulted down a few steps before coming to a stop.

"Not to worry!" he exclaimed while clinging to the banister as the staircase continues to toss itself around haphazardly. "Help is WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH Help is on the way!"

Was this what riding one of those mechanical bull things at some of those muggle pubs was like? He would take astronaut training and spinning around on the gyroscope for hours over this ANY day.

The acromantulas needed food and they needed it soon. The winter months were dragging on making food in the forest really scarce. With her pincers clacking, the HUGE acromantula moved out of the shadows right towards the boys in question. "What's your hurry humans? No need to run off to the lake so quickly." Not when there were so many creatures here in the forest that would happily welcome them into their stomachs.

She could feel her mouth watering already.

One bundled up Frenchie decided to take some risks today. Just like he did at the beginning of the year! So if it ended up like then, he'd be in loads and loads of trouble....oh well! But if he didn't then they'd most likely die...well...either way Gregoire would probably be dead...no help it was!

Adrenaline over took his body. "You! 'Ey you! Stupid spider!" Shouting at the big ugly beast, hoping to draw it's attention. "Dimuendo!" The fourth year said with a lot emphasis, with his wand pointed at the Acromantula. Thank you, Professor Quigley.

"NO ONE MESSES WITH OUR MOTHER!" Shouted one of the smaller acromantulas before biting down hard on the boys hand that was holding his wand.

Gripping hard onto his wand so that way it didn't fall, the boy kicked the blasted thing off. Also of course he messed up the spell before. The Frenchie did not do so well under pressure. He missed the in part. Instead of Diminuendo, the Snake had stated Dimuendo. Which just so happened to anger the large spider. Well, now spiders. Which were all coming after him...

With his wand hand now dripping blood from the bite spider bite Gregoire was the one mad now. There was another charm- well two other charms that could help here. But the boy choose the first one of the two, since it was made for getting rid of Acromantulas. Staring into the oncoming onslaught of the little buggers the boy took a step backwards, gave a grim smile, and laughed. "That spell may not have worked." Kick one of the spiders that jumped. "But this one will!" Punch another one."Arania Exumai!" He shouted, wand pointed at the swarm.

Blue light shot out at the swarm. Hopefully, this would do the trick. Taking another step back, Gregoire took a glimpse at his hand. It was still bleeding...great...kicking a spider that tried to bite his leg, anger washed over the fourth year's face.

Now Gregoire went into raging bull mode.

Zander literally froze on the spot as a huge one came near and started TALKING TO THEM??? Before he could even respond, Gregoire jumped out. AND HE WAS BLEEDING AND oh man. Zander was going to be sick.

Thinking quickly, the Gryffindor pulled out his wand, but instead of drawing it at the spider, he held it towards Gregoire. Zander was so done with him. Who in their right mind would call a giant-man-eating-spider stupid!??? Making a grab for Aegis with his other hand, the Gryffindor began to back up pulling his housemate with him. "Uh hi, Mrs. Acromantula... Uh... We were actually just leaving and... Uh..." Merlin, Gregoire. Did you have to???

Continuing to step back, this time taking HUGE steps by the way, he kept his eyes on the creatures the whole time. "Gregoire! Stop spitting out spells, you're only making it worse!!" he quickly turned back at the boy and whisper!shouted at him. Uh. Call it his inner Prefectness shining through? Also dire panic? Survival skills maybe? Zander Adair was frustrated, man. And freaked out. AND ACROMANTULAS??? "Anyways Mrs. Acromantula, we didn't mean to bother you and we'll just be seeing ourselves out now, thanks." POINTED LOOK AT YOU, GREGOIRE.

They were LEAVING. And going straight for the healer AND the headmistress.

... If the spiders let them. Please let them? Merlin. Why was it always him?

He turned his face once more to see if the Spiders had begun to devour the Frenchie when a bright blue light went flying past the side of his face. "BLOODY...!" Aegis stopped before anything else escaped his mouth. He grabbed his cheek with his one hand and went for his wand with the other. THAT SNAKE WAS WAY TO CARELESS! He just scorched the side of his face!!! "Silencio!" Aegis Shouted at Gregoire! His face hurting when he shouted the spell! Hopefully now they could move on from here without the Slytherin playing anymore of the Tragic Hero, because Aegis did not want to be part of the Tragic End "Watch where you aim that!" He then pointed his wand at the large Acromantula Mother! "Arania Exumai!" The light this time moved from Aegis wand and directly towards her. Probably the only time Aegis would cast as spell at a Lady...since she was a huge Ugly Spider Lady.

The sound of their mother's voice turned several of the smaller spiders toward her direction. They too wanted a piece of these boys. They were just as hungry as she was. The clicking of their pincers intensified as they lunged towards the boys.

Someone was going to be dinner tonight.

I thought it was the Gryffindors that were supposed to be foolishly brave?

Gregoire could hope all he wanted, but the fact is, he did not smash the spider that was on his back. He only managed to anger it further with all his rolling around. Not only did he anger that one, but he angerd the dozens and dozens of other LARGE spiders that were swarming around the boys. And those birds. Did the boy honestly think BIRDS were going to bother the great spiders of the forest? "Puny insignificant human. Your birds cannot help you. Your life belongs to us now." And with that several three to four foot acromantulas attacked the boy all at once and started to drag him deeper into the forest.

Sorry Zander, looks like Gregoire won't be getting up after all.

Can't say you didn't try to save him though. Just like he was trying his best to get Aegis to stop being so foolish. "You (Aegis) really should listen to your friend there and STOP doing that." On second thought. Foolish boy. He may have succeeded in clearing away some of the smaller spiders, but in doing so he cleared a path for the larger ones to carry Gregoire deeper into their home where they would snack on him until there was nothing left of the boy.

If those lion boys had any common sense right now they would take off running while they had the chance and save themselves before they became dessert.

I suppose we all know what this summoning is about....

Professor Quigley caught them all out there but jumped in just a moment too late, it seems, to save young Gregorie." Annie could feel the tears starting to sting the back of her eyes but she held them back. "He dragged the three Gryffindors back to the castle but I believe Banner may still be on the loose--- HOPEFULLY he is only in his dormitory." Because if she had the deaths of TWO students on her hands right now... she would not be coming back for another term, or even another WEEK.

The Headmistress took a shuddery breath. "Heads of Houses, you will need to find a delicate way to inform your students of what transpired tonight in an ABSOLUTELY OUT OF BOUNDS area. Do NOT go into detail. Be DELICATE with this... death. Flamsteed...." wait, where WAS Flamsteed? "I'll need to talk to him separately, if anyone sees him," she added in a soft mutter.

"As for the Forbidden Forest... I propose that we set up a FIRM perimeter, a magical barrier around it, perhaps an age line as well, so that no more of our students can give in to their stupidity and curiosity. This boy's death could have been prevented ENTIRELY if he had used some common sense." And that reminded her. "I'll also be offering a refresher course on COMMON SENSE and SAFETY, if you'll all remind your classes to watch their noticeboards."

Bolded a bit of this speech for those of you who haven't quite grasped the "FORBIDDEN" portion of the Forbidden Forest.

Which roughly translated to, "Let's do it." Ahem, for mapping reasons of course.

What? He happened to be an irresponsible man. Sue him. "On three we'll try the password, see if we can't get this old croon to give us a little more blasting room but this never happened, clear?" He liked thinking they were clear. "One...two...three...Dissendium!"
