You'll arrive at the Transfiguration Lesson bright as early as is the custom with Professor Bellaire. Surely you must be used to these early lessons by now. Entering the room you find the desks and chairs neatly arranged in perfect rows and at the top of the row stands the Professor, arms folded with an expression not particularly welcoming. Today was not her day and they had better not think to try anything.
She watches each student as they enter checking for their attire and overall deportment, ready to remove any who dared show up to her lesson looking anything less than orderly.
The board is blank, giving no indication of what this lesson could entail which mirrors her desk that is also, for the most part, blank. Enter quietly if you know what's good for you.

Marigold had brushed her hair for the first time that day, and even stopped outside the classroom to fix her badge to be straighter. She knew Bellaire by now, and she needed to look COMPLETELY prim and orderly. She deemed herself respectable and walked in, smiling and greeting her, "Hello, professor. Hope you are well." With that, she walked and stood next to a desk across from Norah.

... Could someone explain why they were still doing this standing thing? It'd hardly made any sense to Zander, plus after all of the confusion that went on in the joint lesson, you'd think they'd put an end to all of these strange rules. Besides, sitting down? Standing up? What difference did it really make and how come Professor Bellaire insisted on it? Strange. All too strange to Zander Adair.
Though, he'd have to follow the rules since he'd already gotten in enough trouble this term, thankyouverymuch. So he quietly walked in and gave Professor Bellaire a polite nod of the head. "Uh, hi Professor."
Right then, where to sit erm, stand? Oh, Damien! Yeah. We'll sit stand by you. Ahem. A friendly face would be such a nice contrast to Bellaire's -well-uh-not-so-friendly one....

It wasn't because this lesson was so early. No, the reason for Agatha's gloomy mood was not that. The death of her housemate? Not quite either. Who cared about him anyway? Definitely not Agatha.
The fifth year's uniform was perfectly neat, as usual - especially for professor Bellaire's class -, but she didn't smile at the woman when she entered the classroom. "Good morning, professor." She still said politely before heading straight to the back of the classroom and standing behind one of the last desks.
...Sigh.
Cutty stopped before entering the Transfiguration classroom to straighten his tie. He'd given himself a once over before leaving the dungeon that morning, but it never hurt to assure. "Good morning, Professor Bellaire." He greeted their Transfig teacher. Was he affected by the recent death of fellow Slytherin. Not in the typical ways. Not like Grayson had been. Speaking of Grayson, he looked around for signs of the older boy or his girlfriend. They weren't there.
He did, however spot Happygoody and recognized her as a strength in Transfiguration in the event partnered exercises should take place. He moved over toward her at the back of the room. A nice perch, really. You could see plenty from it.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Cilla entered the classroom, her hair done up in a neat bun and her uniform free from wrinkles. She gave a quick and polite nod to Professor Bellaire as she headed for a desk in the middle of the classroom and stood behind it.

Bambi was sitting next to that Bianca girl Eden had made acquaintances with in the loo once, so she decided to just...grab another seat. And...not sit down yet. She examined her fingernails and..oh.
Right.
"Good day, Professor," she said, quite enthusiastically. Meh. She thought Bellaire looked fussy about something....was someone SITTING? Tsk, tsk. Eden remembered her FIRST Bellaire class and..she had lost points.
Whoops.
Sophia's eyes also followed this one to her seat. Luckily for her the students were finally starting to get it and settle down. She was not going to compromise on her rules or even bend it a little until they proved that they could follow instructions without arguing for the most part.

And then he slipped into the transfiguration class when it was time, taking in the scene before him.
Bellaire was there of course, looking none to happy and welcoming as she stood with her arms folded. Adi, Angel and AJ were also there but Benny couldn't let himself relax in the presence of his friends. "Hello Professor Bellaire," he greeted politely, having decided he did not want to be rude by simply staying quiet the whole class which had been his original plan, speaking only to cast what they needed to practice and learn. That being done, he chose a desk and stood stock still beside it to await permission to sit.
Oh he had BETTER just says hello and not good morning because there was nothing GOOD about his morning thanks to him and Professor Quckface! But this was NOT over, not in the least. But for now...lesson time.

He smiled and waved to her. "Hello Professor Bellaire. I trust you are well." he greeted her politely. He waited to be seated because a few times he had been docked points for doing that. He didn't even dare take out his sketchbook. He waited there quietly and wondered what they were going to do today.
He trust that she was well? Well she was not well and that was thanks to a certain student and professor. She thought she was not angry about it anymore but seeing the student..well that made the memory all too fresh in her mind.

"G'morning, Professor," she mumbled, rubbing her nose sleepily. At the sight of her stern-looking teacher, she immediately straightened out her robes a bit and pulled her slightly dishevelled-looking curly hair back into a tight ponytail before she wandered to a desk and dumped her backpack on the floor next to it.
And oh look, some snake kid was sitting down. There was always one, wasn't there? A loud exhale and a smirk were as close to a chuckle as she could muster (she was tired, okay?), because if someone couldn't discern from the fact that the entire rest of the class was standing that they should too, well, they deserved whatever chewing-out they got.

The third year gave Professor Bellaire the most respectfulest smile she could muster and said, "Good morning, Professor." She chose a desk smack in the middle of the middle row, which seemed like the safest spot, and stood by it. Could everyone get here so they could sit down puh-leeez? This rule didn't even make sense anyways.
Sophia checked her watch. It was almost time for class to begin, so the stragglers had only a few minutes to get in. She nodded at the Hufflepuff who entered the classroom.

Things usually did.
Or, they used to, since coming to Hogwarts his life had become infinitely more complicated, which brought him back to the current subject of Transfiguration. Damien brushed his fingers through his hair, smoothing it out needlessly before entering the classroom looking as impeccable as he always did.
"Morning Professor." Damien politely said, giving Bellaire an equally polite nod that he hardly felt she deserved, but whatever, he was being good, not causing problems, keeping his head down. Would Rorie be here today? He didn't see rainbow hair anywhere... Maybe not...
The student received a nod of the head as he entered the classroom. She made a note to check him over too. Often times when enough students came in properly attired, a few would slip by unnoticed. Oh yes, she was on to them.

“Good morning, Professor Bellaire,” she said sweetly, picking a seat somewhere halfway between where Hady was standing and where Ethan was. Just in case there was going to be partner work later on in the lesson, she wanted to be strategically placed. Even if it meant she had to be around others as well, there was an understanding with them now. No hugs. Besides, Professor Bellaire looked like she would stop any hugs from happening anyhow. It meant she was definitely safe.
Ah the polite one. Sophia truly did appreciate this student. It was the likes of her and a few others that kept her coming back term after term. There were good students and they deserved good teachers.

The class student received a hearty good morning. Before she got up and took a seat on the edge of her table.
Professor Bellaire pointed her wand at the door and it shut itself with a definite click. Late comers would not be permitted.
"Okay everyone, please take out your text books. Today will be a completely wandless lesson, so put your wands away and have a seat." They understood that theory class was just as important as a practical lesson.
"I would like someone to quickly give the definition of Transfiguration and another to explain the difference between Charms and Transfiguration."

Wandless? Amur couldn't help the groan as she plopped hard into her seat. Pulling out her textbook consisted of leaning over, sticking her hand in her bag, fishing blindly around for her book and tugging at it until it popped out. She let her backpack sag under her chair and placed the tome on her desk.
For a moment, she stared at it as if it had made the decision that they wouldn't be doing anything neat today. No dragons. No ducks. No ferrets. Not even flowers.
Sighs for life.
Although, perhaps they would learn a multitude of spells that they could practice later? Efficiency and the like. Amur was hopeful on that and so she squirmed in her seat a little, straightened and looked up from her textbook.
Oh, she could answer this. Her hand went up. "Transfiguration is converting an object or person to a completely different object or person, such that the five senses actually detect the new object or person. It is a literal transformation, not an...illusion." Yes, that's the word she was looking for.
Case in point. Stones and dragons.

No wands? Booooo! Norah reluctantly stored her wand in her bag and pulled out parchment, quill, ink, and finally her textbook and placed them on the table, trying not to pout with all her energy. She was fourteen now, that meant no pouting even when this class was destined to be capital B Boring, probably. Once she'd titled her notes in her boringest non-sparkly ink, she set her quill down and put a hand in the air. Shouldn't Professor Bellaire know what Transfiguration was already? She was the professor, after all, but the third year knew not to question it. Wouldn't want another debate like that time she and Cat Man taught a class together, nooope. Her legs were sore at the thought. But right, yes, question. Once she'd been called on, Norah answered "Transfiguration is more focused on changing stuff into other stuff. Y'know, like creating something that wasn't already there before, sometimes out of thin air and sometimes out of objects you already have. But charms is more like spells that will change a characteristic of what you already have, but not make something else." Right? Like they'd made dragons out of rocks with transfiguration spells but made 'em bigger with charms? Made sense to her, anyways.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Adi grinned at Ethan. It was good to see the other boy in such great spirits just as he was. "Morning, Mordaunt number two!'' Or was that Mordaunt number one? Adi was never sure about that. He smiled at his girlfriend and the guy best friend when they arrived. And just look at that! AJ being responsible and all by saving Hady like that.
.....................
Aw man! No practicals today? Well that sucked. Adi loved practical portions of this subject but he supposed that theory was just as important as practicals. Unfortunately. Pushing his disappointment aside, the Puffer retrieved his textbook from his bag. His wand was already safely a way.
Ah. Starting off with that question again, huh? Oky doky. Raising his hand, Adi said, "Transfiguration changes the appearance for the target at which a spell is casted at while Charms adds a property or properties to an object or a person.'' Simple enough, yeah?
BOOMBAYAH! | #PuedoPorquePiensoQuePuedo | Certified Blank and Random Person | Raventastic
Putting their wand away, seriously? What the hell was wrong with Bellaire? Well, Bianca could care less about her but but... A transfiguration class without practicing? BO to the RING. The brunette girl then sat down, took out her books and kept her wand in her pocket robe. The differences between Charms and Transfiguration. She couldn't help but raised her eyebrows. This question must have been addressed at the first meeting, she thought. But she did remember what this Professor taught on first lesson, transfiguring her ears into an ugly elf one and they won't be allowed to reverse the spell until the next lesson.
"Well, transfiguration is more focused on the changes of the form of object while charms is... I believe adding something to the target." The seventh year answered as she raised her hand. She didn't think that theory wasn't necessary. Hell yeah. Everything started in theoretical things but for some subjects like Transfiguration, practice was more important.

Agatha's way of greeting Cutty was a stare, nothing else. Not a hard one, just a simple, normal stare.
She looked back to the front of the classroom and watched professor Bellaire magically lock the door and tell them this would be a wandless lesson!!!!!!!!
The girl immediatelly perked up and listened more intently. No magic!! NO MAGIC!! Sweet Morgana, there would be no spells cast or ANYTHING like that that morning!!! Agatha was suddenly not feeling as gloomy as before, but she wasn't entirely sure about the part that they were told to get their books.
Taking a seat anyway, the Slytherin pulled out her Transfiguration textbook and placed it on her desk. Looking back at professor Bellaire, she chose not to answer the first question.

No wands? Adrienne wrinkled her nose as she hastily stuffed her wand into its holster (which she'd finally ended up buying from Ollivanders after years of keeping the thing in her back pocket). Not that she didn't like theory- she loved theory, and in all honesty she was better at it than actual magic. It was just that it required thinking, and this early in the morning, thinking was not her forté. Stifling a yawn in the sleeve of her robe, she used the other hand to rummage around in her bag until she found her Transfiguration book and dropped it on her desk.
Oh, and they were starting with the basics. Hopefully this was going to lead into a more interesting discussion instead of just a bunch of running off simple answers, because that would literally bore Adrienne to eventual sleep.
She shoved a fist into the air before reciting in a monotone voice the definition she'd memorised years ago. "Transfiguration is the magical art of physically converting one thing into another." Easy enough. Next?

Class had begun for them. And this time the class would be simply theory. Alright, this was sort of new. Simon hadn't had a purely theory-based class in a while so this would be exciting. He liked learning theory. It could be dull sometimes but most of the time the boy was really intrigued by it. After taking a seat, the boy slipped his wand carefully into his bag and pulled out his textbook. Oof, heavy textbook. Very heavy textbook. He then readied his notebook.
Question time. A definition for Transfiguration, hey? Simon raised his hand and waited to be called on. "Transfiguration changes the appearance of an object whereas a charm perhaps alters how an object is used? For instance, could you perhaps charm a water jug and make it have the same abilities as a portkey?" he offered.

Hady could feel the eyes of some of the other students on her and it was a bit annoying honestly now...it wasn't like no one every made mistakes. This just happened to be one of her more stupider ones that shouldn't have happened. Anyhow it was done and over with. The second year nodded her head firmly at the Professor's warning to her and gave a small grateful smile to her.
When they were told they could sit she sat herself down looking over to both her friends (AJ and Angel) and mouthing the words "Thank you" to both of them. Without them she knew she'd have gotten herself into to detention or at least lost points for her house.
Hady put her wand back into it's holder so it was kept safe as she got her textbook ready. A few others had already answered the question the Professor had asked them so she kept quiet for the moment.
Well. A theory lesson. Eden siiiighed in relief. Thank MERLIN. She couldn't perform spells right with Bellaire breathing down her neck most times anyways. But....this rudimentary of a theory lesson?! Eden was.....going to fall asleep.
But she BETTER not.
Bellaire would MURDER her.
But she didn't feel like answering. So she didn't. She just opened her notebook and began doodling aimlessly. Siiiiigh. Plus, it was only the beginning of class. Maybe they'd get into HARDER questions later. Cutty being here wasn't making anything any easier, though, so...
Eh.
The Ravenclaw ran her fingers through her hair and tried not to feel...uncomfortable.

Aaaaaand as for that question, for some reason it just TOOK a moment for Toby to process the words, because of already getting a little distracted by others in the class, but everyone else seemed to cover it so Toby simply WROTE down the answers and tried so hard to refrain from bouncing in his seat and decided that he would be SO READY FOR THE NEXT QUESTION instead. YEP.

Oh yeah...she was still upset with him.
The tone Bellaire used when she answered his greeting with just his name. The glare sent his way that made him wish he could crawl under the desk rather than just simply sit down as she allowed them to do when she began the class in earnest. But that wasn't to be the case by any means. The Gryffindor caught the smile aimed his way by Adi but he couldn't bring himself to smile back.
Ben supposed it was a good thing that today's lesson was only going to be delving into theory. It wasn't like he had his wand to do anything anyway. Bellaire still had it from their previous encounter and she didn't seem like she was ready to give it back to him anytime soon. So instead he simply sat down at the desk he had previously been standing before and remained quiet.
Tiny Disappointment there with the no magic thing. But hey Dante needed the practice anyway he could get it. Dante took his seat and listened to the question. This felt like like what was that word where it felt like the exact thing happened in the past. Maybe in Professor Q's class. Yeah or maybe Dante was completely wrong. There is a strong chance it is that.
There answer was already said more than one times. But Dante would rather answer in the class than be quiet. Hand raised he answered.
"Transfiguration involves the changing of the appearance..form of an object, by changing the object's molecular structure"
See he knew somethings.

A theory lesson?
Lux was actually REALLY happy to hear that because if anything she needed help with Transfiguration theory as she found the textbook so dry and hard to follow. BEAMING, the redhead took her needed supplies out feeling ready to learn and loving the distraction this would provide. The first question had been been asked and other students jumped at the chance to respond before she could. No matter - she would have a chance with the next one and be ready to answer.
Opening her notebook, she began writing things down.
Angel was upset, the Professor hadn't said good morning back to her, or had she said Hi she couldn't remember all she knew was the Professor had totally ignored her entrances into the classroom, had she done something wrong?
Angel sat down when she was instructed too, she wondered if she should answer the question but in the end she decided too, she wanted to test something out.
Angel raised her hand and smiled. "Transfiguration is done on humans whilst charmed is done on an object." Angel thought she might as well say something and she would go and hug Benny later and ask him if she had done something wrong.

Uh. Was that a sarcastic greeting or what? But really... Or what? Because Zander wasn't entirely all too sure. He did, however, sit down as soon as they were allowed because all that standing was making his legs hurt. Still not entirely too sure as to why this was completely necessary. Not like Bellaire was the queen or anything. Zander would stand up for the queen, just not for Bellaire. Well, he did stand up for her too, but that's only because-- Okay, irrelevant. They were starting now.
Ahem.
WAIT WHAT?? No magic? The words were tragic. If he had known, he wouldn't have come to class at all. Merlin. If they weren't going to do any magic, then what was to seperate this class like one of those boring ones LIKE ARITHMANCY? Did Bellaire really want that? To be like Arithmancy? No wonder she was in such a foul mood. Zander would be in a foul mood too if he knew he was going to teach Arithmancy. No offense, Professor Tanner you are absolutely gr8.
As for the question though... That was basically the most basic question ever. RIGHT? Because transfiguration was-- Actually, Simon summed it up pretty nicely. So yeah. Zander would take one for the team and not add in his thoughts this go around. No need for repetition, y'know?

A theory class? Even though Marigold could see other people getting disappointed, she was SOOOO relieved. She could handle theory classes. And yes, she was going to take notes and pay attention even though she didn't get this OWL. Who cared? She liked this class.
Since people already talked about the Transfiguration aspect, Marigold covered the Charms bit. (Her better part). "Charms adds something, properties or different aspects, to an object and enhances it instead of changing it."

No activity for the day? Well okay, that shouldn’t bother him at all because lecture time is revision time. It was the perfect opportunity for OWL and NEWT takers this term. With a polite nod, Ethan pulled his chair, made himself comfortable in his seat and took out his book and writing equipment. The first question was raised, and the Slytherin couldn’t be more pleased.
It’s exactly what they needed for the upcoming wizarding exam. The sixteen year old took down notes on his parchment before raising his own hand to answer. “Transfiguration is a branch of magic that changes the appearance of a human, animal, or object. Whereas in Charms, it only alters what the subject does.” Did he nail it? Hopefully. He’d been studying those two subjects for five years now...

If he hadn't noticed it, he might have felt the weight of Agatha Hapgood's stare boring into his light skin. It was quite by accident that he turned to look at her and caught the stare. Why the stare? What was she seeing that made it quite impossible for her to turn away. Interpreting this to the best of his favour Cutty smiled and tucked away his wand before taking out his text book.

Theory. This was good. Such classes he could appreciate for he found much interest in seeing just how things worked. It was a quick and easy way to unwind. Cutty raised his hand and offered more in-depth answer. "Transfiguration is the branch of magic that is used for the altering of pre-existing material into another substance or form as has been mentioned. It differs from a charm in that a charm would merely enchant an object and isn't very likely to change the way something looks." Cutty considered any exceptions to the rules that appearances would always change when dealing with Transfiguration. Could a wizard, if he wanted to, switch another wizard's heart with a tomato? Sure it would alter the appearance of his insides, but no one would see that.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Cilla sat herself down and retrieved her textbook, quill and parchment. She placed the items on her desk and listened to Professor Bellaire speak. When the question was asked, Cilla raised her hand. "Transfiguration alters the form of an object whereas Charms alters the behavioural characteristics."

Phew. They could sit down and Hady managed not to get eaten for breakfast. So far so good. AJ caught the mouthed thank you, and smiled at Hady in response. It was no problem. The class was only just beginning so she wasn't getting her hopes up. Before her thoughts were even completely formed, she was reminded why you didn't count your chickens before they were hatched. No wands. This lesson sounded SO fun... NOT. Transfiguration was one class that AJ needed the most practice in, but what could she do? Not argue. That look on Bellaire's face clearly said that wouldn't go over well.
No need to answer the question because Adi had already summed it up beautifully. Bellaire wouldn't take too kindly to repeated answers so instead she listened and retained important tid bits as they were said.
