Hehe, that was enough practice; time for Lux to get to work making her eyebrows blue.

Staring at her reflection in the mirror, she brushed her hair behind her ears and tried her best to focus on what she wanted to do. Concentration was important when it came to Transfiguration - as with Charms - and this was one of the subjects she felt the most nervous about.

Picturing the exact shade of blue she wanted in her mind, Lux tapped her right eyebrow with her wand. "Capillus Colorum!" Whooooa, it worked....kinda. Part of her eyebrow was blue. It was a start?

Anna Banana 01-24-2015 04:57 AM

Kate did have a question, but this question was more of a question to herself than to the professor. Did she have any control over what color her eyebrows would change to? The professor didn't say anything about an extra incantation or intent, so Kate guessed not. She situated herself in front of her mirror and took a good look at her natural eyebrows. She just hoped she didn't mess up and cause some permanent damage. Practicing on a stuffed animal was one thing, but herself?

Suddenly, Kate was a little nervous. She didn't want purple or blue eyebrows for the rest of her life. She sighed and looked around the room. Everybody else was practicing, so she should, too. With one last look at her usual eyebrows, Kate flicked her wand and said, "Capillus Colorum!" She blinked and studied her eyebrows. They looked the same. The spell hadn't worked! She honestly breathed a sigh of relief at that point. She still wasn't sold on practicing a brand new spell on herself.

Sararara 01-24-2015 05:00 AM

Norah GRINNED at the answer to her question, because PURPLE EYEBROWS HERE SHE COMES, before turning her attention to the mirror. She raised one eyebrow, then the other, then did them both all wiggly and letting out a little snort. HEH. Eyebrows were so WEIRD. Ahem, spell. Right. "Capillus colorum... capillus colorum... capillus colorum...'' the third year muttered under her breath as she got allllll warmed up to start doing some COLOR CHANGING. "Capillus Colorum." AWESOME.

She picked up her wand and pointed it at her forehead, taking a deep breath and making a small wish to not charm her nose off before saying, "Capillus colorum!" and looking excitedly in the mirror for some purple eyebrows. Except they weren't purple, nope nope. Just that weird auburn-ish color that was neither red nor brown and just weird. SIGH. Okay. Take two. Pointing her wand at her eyebrows once more, she said, "Capullis Colorum!" more forcefully this time, closing her eyes and imagining all the purple-est things she could think of. GRAPESBALLOONSHERNEWTRAINERS! INKBUTTERFLIESPLUMSTURNIPSEGGPLANTS! She opened one eye, then the other, first checking to see if her nose was still attached (thankfully, yes) and then letting her eyes travel up to her eyebrows. Oh. Still weird auburn. DARN.

sarahlooo 01-24-2015 06:00 AM

Alright, time to do the other eyebrow. Though, something was tempting about just leaving one eyebrow hot pink and the other normal, but she wanted full points for the activity.

So, Evie pointed her wand at her other eyebrow and said, "Capillus Colorum." And then she watched her eyebrow turn hot pink right before her eyes. She beamed proudly as she looked around at the others. Maaaan, the elf ears looked so cool! Maybe she would try them on her own later.

HOLD UP. How come all the younger kids were getting this before him?? No. No. No. NO. He was a FIFTH year. And also sort of a Prefect kind of. How come he was still struggling to figure out what the spell was called again? This would not do. He had to prove that he could transfigure and-- Wait, since when was changing color a transfiguration thing? Didn't it sound more like charms or something..... Oh Merlin. He was going to fail BOTH those OWLs, huh?

No. He was determined.

Capillus Colorum.

That was the one, right? Capillus somethingsomething. Exactly. Nailed it. Ahem. Capillus somethingsomething. Be ready to turn these eyebrows ORANGE. That's what he'd go for.

Staring hard into the mirror, the Gryffindor lifted his wand and, "Capillus Colorum," Deciding against adding the something something part.... Except... O_____O Blue was not the color he was going for. PROFESSOOOOR????

Sararara 01-24-2015 07:54 AM

Norah glared at her reflection in the mirror and stuck her tongue out at herself, leaning closer to inspect it because how often do you get to see your own tongue?! Except her breath fogged up the glass OOPS. She drew a happy face with her finger on the foggy part and smiled back at it, 'cause happy faces needed a reason to be happy y'know, before picking up her wand and getting ALLL ready to make her eyebrows purple. Eyebrow dye take to, she as all over it.

"Capillus Colorum!" The third year screwed up her eyes and concentrated on the purpliest purple in the universe with her wand pointed at her own face. DID IT WORK DID WORK? Norah let both eyes spring open as she looked to see her stylish new PURPLE do, except it didn't look right at ALL. Half of her left eyebrow had gone a funny shade of green, and everything else was STILL that funny auburn color. WELL. At least she had dome SOMETHING. Plus, she still had her nose, and she needed that to smell flowers so it was very important. Veryveryvery.

Be careful? Focus?

Those were perhaps the two things that Tobias had more trouble with than anything else, these days. BUT he would do his best and focus and everything 'cause even though having pointy ears for the rest of foreer would be COOL and give him character, Toby didn't want to make Bellaire angry or get shouted at or anything for not paying attention. That was motivation enough. The Hufflepuff moved along to one of the free mirrors and glanced automatically at his reflection.

Incantation first, because it was the type he was likely to need to get used to before putting straight into practice.

"Aurbus Aq-... Aquita? No, wait." Toby looked back at his notes again for the incantation and used his quill to make little dashes through the words to break them up. "Aur-i-bus Aq-u-ta... Auribus... Aquta. Auuuribus Aqutaasa. Aurrrribus Aaaaquta." Ahem. Little bit carried away there. "Auribus Aquta."

Really, the incantation would be the easy part. The HARD part would be the focusing and the intent of the spell and getting it right without setting his ears on fire or permanently pointing using them or something. But he'd try it. And... maybe give the non-verbal practicing a miss until he mastered it; THAT was hard enough with the easiest spells.

Toby looked into his mirror and turned his head to one side, wondering vaguely if this might be the last time he ever got to see his ear looking quite like this. Exciting stuff, really.

Angel went and sat near a mirror, she knew that she was going to have to be a brave little trooper and actually do this. She was a bit upset because she had only just trimmed her eyebrows and if anything went wrong she could looked weird or worse.

Angel decided she was going to practice the incantation. "Capillus Colorum! Capillus Colorum!" Angel smiled that sounded perfect and she decided that she didn't want to try a third time, she also decided that red eyebrows would be great for her, now all she had to do was concentrate.

Angel pointed her wand at her eyebrows and then she concentrated hard on the colour she wanted. "Capillus Colorum!" Angel then she looked into the mirror.

O__________________o

Pink!! She didn't think that suited her, what had gone wrong, she had been aiming for red though saying that this looked a pinkish reddish colour, but anyway at least she had changed the colour of her eyebrows.

SilverTiger 01-24-2015 11:49 AM

She’d repeated the spell so many times to herself she was afraid that it might lose all meaning, and that meant it was time to try and put it all together. Brooklyn didn’t want to fail before she’d even tried, after all. Not in Professor Bellaire’s class. That wasn’t going to happen. Taking her wand out, she took a breath. She had to try it sometime. “Capillus colorum,” she whispered one last time, before doing anything else. At least she still remembered it. It hadn’t gotten all confused in her head after all the repetition. That would’ve been a bad thing, and bad things weren’t allowed to happen. Not to her. Not here.

Anyway, she had to try. Pointing her wand at her left eyebrow, she shut her eyes. The professor had said to concentrate, after all. She could do that better with her eyes closed. She knew her wand hadn’t moved anyway. “Capillus colorum,” she said again, trying to sound confident, concentrating on her eyebrow turning green. She could try to go blonde later, just as an experiment for the eventual Halloween usage of the spell. Green would be more obvious, to show she’d done the spell right. She still didn’t open her eyes again for a few seconds after she’d finished casting. There had been a second of doubt as she’d lowered her wand, and trepidation as she’d finally opened her eyes again. Maybe something had gone wrong. Except, her eyebrow was still there, and still ginger. Not really green at all, but at least nothing had gone completely wrong.

Buggy-Boo 01-24-2015 01:19 PM

Margo was smiling, she had one blue eyebrow and looked like a crazy lady, but she had done the spell on her first try and life was great. Maybe her magic was becoming more powerful or maybe it was beginners luck but either way Margo was pretty happy with her results.

So turning her attention to her right eyebrow this time, she was ready and hoping for result that were just as fantastic. "Capillus Colorum" Margo said taping her eyebrow, but nothing happened this time. Ugh, magic was so frustrating!!!!! A spell should just work every time you used it!!!

Ginevra 01-24-2015 01:41 PM

Cilla always liked to get the pronunciation of the incantation correct before attempting the wand movement. She had learnt from previous experience that the spell won't work if you aren't saying the incantation properly.

Cilla muttered under her breath, "Capillus Colorum!" three times.

When she felt confident enough to try the spell, Cilla picked up the mirror in her left hand and her wand in her right. She tapped her left eyebrow with her wand whilst thinking of the darkest night sky and said, "Capillus Colorum!".

Cilla looked in the mirror and was happy to discover that her left eyebrow was now black instead of its usual copper tone. Cilla repeated the process on her right eyebrow except this time she thought of a field of sunflowers. The result was that her right eyebrow was a bright yellow.

Kolyander 01-24-2015 02:01 PM

Staring at herself in the mirror Hady decided she hated the black color. Maybe she could focus and change it again to something else? Like uh silver or something? It was different but she liked that color.

Taking a deep breath and focusing only on the incantation and color the young girl straightened up in front of the mirror. "Capillus colorum", she whispered clearly tapping her right eyebrow at the same time.

Watching closely at herself in the mirror a smirk staying in place on her face as the eyebrow changed to a very vivid silver. Once more she'd done it.

She was getting the hang of this.

Hera 01-24-2015 02:43 PM

Determined to master the art of changing his eyebrow colour - a super useful spell if ever he heard one, Zeke stared in the mirror, ALL his attention on his streaky green-brown eyebrow, and WILLING it to turn ALL green.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

FOCUS!

Zeke repeated the spell to the best of his ability (or what he thought was his best).

"Capillus Colorum," he annunciated as he tapped his wand to his eyebrow.

This time the streaky green was replaced by an all-over green instead, one which matched his other eyebrow. SUCCESS!

Zeke grinned, examining himself in the mirror. He looked freaky, definitely freaky... so he'd try something different. After a moment of thought, Zeke tapped his wand to his left eyebrow and repeated the incantation, "Capillus Colorum." In an instant the green was replaced by a jet black, one which looked more normal but still out of place on his face.

Cool beans.

He evened up the right side by repeating the spell again. Now that he'd done it a few times, he felt he had the hang of it. What else where they doing today? Changing hair colour?

WhittyBitty 01-24-2015 02:50 PM

Her half blue eyebrow just would not do, so Lux was going to need to try harder next time. What if the same thing happened during her O.W.L.? That was a scary thought and she was going to have a panic attack from stress if it happened since Transfiguration was one of the classes she needed a high test grade in to become a Potioneer.

Okay, deep breaths and try again.

This time all she focused on was how she wanted her eyebrow to look, not even trying to do anything until she felt it was the right time to try. Tap. "Capillus Colorum!" There, now that was more like it and the redhead beamed as she examined her fully blue eyebrow. Time to do the other one, but she had a random thought that maybe she would make this one purple.

Picturing exactly how she wanted her left eyebrow to look, she tapped it. "Capillus Colorum!" Hehe, it was purple now. This was so cool and would be even better if she was allowed to add the elf ears.

Anna Banana 01-24-2015 03:31 PM

Kate's first attempt at the spell hadn't worked, and even though she was relieved that she hadn't caused some facial disaster, she knew she had to try again. She looked in the mirror and studied her eyebrows. She should really try picturing some colorful things, things a different color than her own eyebrows.

Pink.

Kate loved the color pink. She still hadn't grown out of her whole pink stage that she'd been in since she was about six or seven. So what was pink? Pigs were pink, but Kate didn't want to picture a pig when she was trying to change the color of her eyebrows. Cotton candy could be pink! So could bubble gum, ice cream, and hair bows.

Kate tried to keep a good mental picture of these colors as she flicked her wand forward. "Capillus Colorum!" she called out. She blinked as something began to change in her eyebrows. Oh my Merlin! It was working! She closed her eyes. She'd open them in a minute. She just wanted to open them only when she could see what had changed on her.

Expecto-Penguin 01-24-2015 04:03 PM

No pressure or anything when he heard the effects maybe permanent if you didn't concentrate. He didn't want elf ears for the rest of his life but he thought they looked cool in the movies. He copied down the wand movement and the spell. He saw the spell was Auribus Aquta. Nothing too hard right. He began pronouncing it first before even attempting to do the spell.

"Au-rib-us Aq-u-ta......Au-rib-us Aq-u-ta......Au-rib-us Aq-u-ta......Au-rib-us Aq-u-ta......Au-rib-us Aq-u-ta......Au-rib-us Aq-u-ta......"

Now to put the spell all together.

"Auribus Aquta......Auribus Aquta......Auribus Aquta.....Auribus Aquta.....Auribus Aquta.." and he did a tap of his wand too. Now time to put it all together. He took a deep breath and tried to concentrate. Let's see how this will go.

Anna Banana 01-24-2015 04:20 PM

Slowly, Kate began to open her eyes. She didn't quite know what to expect, but she imagined it was something along the lines of the cotton candy and bubble gum she'd pictured earlier. She frowned when she saw the result, though. Her eyebrows didn't really change colors. They were still her normal eyebrows but with the faintest hint of pink. By 'faintest', she meant that if you weren't looking for a color change, you probably wouldn't even notice it.

Sigh.

Kate pointed her wand forward and said, "Finite!" Whatever she had done before, faint or not, was reversed now. She refocused herself and stared into the mirror. Again, she pictured all the pink things she'd imagined before. This time, though, she focused not on the object itself but on the color of the objects. There had to be some magic in that train of thought somewhere!

Kate pointed her wand forward and with much more determination than before, she said, "Capillus Colorum!" Something had to work this time. It just had to.

Expecto-Penguin 01-24-2015 04:58 PM

Time to put the spell to the test. He looked at himself in the mirror and calmed himself down. He needed to be confident. He knew he could do this. He held his wand at the ready. Only a simple tap was all he needed on his ears. He felt confident and tried to spell.

He said the incantation....."Auribus Aquta...?" and with a simple tap on his ears and he felt nothing. Hmmm...now that was weird. He didn't even know what he was supposed to feel. Was he supposed to feel his ear stretched or would they just appear fastly? He really had NO idea. He shrugged and began to try again.

The puffer held his wand and went for a second attempt, he said the incantation "Auribus Aquta!" and he tapped his ears while saying the spell really loud and he saw something. He saw he had longg elf ears.

Huh...they didn't look soo bad as he thought they would. They looked bloody cool!

Anna Banana 01-24-2015 05:40 PM

Well, something did happen alright. Kate opened her eyes to see a pretty pink eyebrow. Eyebrow. As in one eyebrow. Her right eyebrow had stayed the same for some reason, but her left eyebrow was a medium shade of pink, just like the cotton candy and bubble gum she'd pictured! In some ways, this worried Kate. What if she couldn't get it to turn back to its normal shade? What if she had to keep it pink forever? That might not be so bad, but what if the other eyebrow wouldn't turn pink, too? What if she had to live with one pink eyebrow and one normal one?

There were way too many questions.

Kate thought about casting the spell again on that one normal eyebrow, but then what if that caused the already pink eyebrow to become hot pink? Okay, she was over-analyzing this too much. She flicked her wand forward and said, "Finite!" To her relief, the pink eyebrow reverted back to its regular shade.

RandomRaven 01-24-2015 05:58 PM

Still couldn't believe about her ear, Bianca just STARED at it. Didn't know if she had to transfigure her left ear too but but... She still could reverse it with finite, right?

Okay, one more ear. She sighed.

Closing her eyes, the brunette girl tried to concentrate to transfigure hear ear into an elf-shape one. If she didn't concentrate much.. Well, didn't know what happened but she did hope that she didn't lose her ear. Okay, here we go...

One. Two. Three.

"Auribus aquta." She tapped her wand to her left ear. Bianca still closed her eyes. Touching her left ear, she knew that he was successfully transfigure it. Okay, this is not bad, Bianca. Then she tried to open her eyes and looked at herself at the mirror.

HOLY BANANA SPLIT!

Yes, she did transfigure her ear. Now both of her ears were bigger and had the sharp point but she looked WEIRD and UGLY with the super-size elf ear. Seriously, next time Bellaire should teach them how to transfigure a body part into a better look, not a worse like this.

Sararara 01-24-2015 06:08 PM

Norah took a couple deep DEEEP breaths before picking up her wand again and pointing it at her eyebrow. With her other hand, she reached up and stroked her half-green eyebrow, imagining it turning bright purple instead of this weirdo color. C'mon, eyebrows, do it right. The third year closed her eyes and said, "Capillus Colorum!" Okaaaaay. Now was the part where she looked. She reached up and touched her nose--STILL ON. Okay. Looking time. She opened both eyes simultaneously at the same time and staaaaared at her reflection for a moment before breaking out into a grin. HEH. Now she had one eyebrow that was half green, and another that was streaked with purple. HEHEH could they learn how to change their hair color too? Please please?

oh its Erik ok 01-24-2015 06:19 PM

Dante just stared at himself in the mirror. Did he really have two different colored eyebrows? Was he really this short? Did the color green really suit him? Questions and more Questions. He only had the answer to the first one. The other ones not so much. Still might as well go full magenta then half magenta. Then he could just end the spell and go back to his normal non magenta eyebrows.

"Capillus Colorum"

And there his eyebrow went to another color. Though not magenta. Yellow. Well this was awkward. Yeah he looked really strange now. Though he could not stop staring at his reflection.

Huh, Yellow and Magenta.

Daemon 01-24-2015 06:27 PM

All transfigurations can be reversed. All transfigurations can be reversed. All transfigurations - including elf ears and other human modifications - can be, and WILL BE, reversed.

Breathing slowly, Bambi finally managed to peel her eyes away from her horrendous looking ear and focus on her very pretty and very round other one. Such nice ears she had. She'd never take them for granted, ever again.

"Auribus Aquta!" she cast, and watched with a slight pout as the ear elongated and stretched into the one of an elf. Standard incantation, standard wand movement, standard human transfiguration. Bambi had never really understood why transfiguring just came so naturally to her, but she was forever grateful for it. Imagine getting stuck halfway between human and elf shapes. That would be HORRIBLE.

Examining both her ears in the mirror, she bit her lip in distaste and awaited further instruction.

Anna Banana 01-24-2015 06:38 PM

So this was take four of her attempt to change the color of her eyebrows. The first time had resulted in nothing at all. She'd cast a second time and had nothing but a tint that probably couldn't even be seen by anybody but her. then she'd cast a third time and had only one pink eyebrow. The third time had NOT been the charm, as they saying goes.

So take four was hopefully the time it took for her to get it right. Kate stared into the mirror and studied her now normal looking eyebrows. At least she knew she could turn them back to normal successfully. So if the spell never worked, she at least wasn't stuck with this. Kate again focused on anything she could think of that was pink. There was the usual cotton candy and bubblegum she'd been thinking about before, and then pigs were pink, ice cream, crayons, color-changing quills, clothes, bows, and purses, too.

With a point of her wand, she called out, "Capillus Colorum!"

Holmesian Feline 01-24-2015 07:51 PM

The Gryffindor leaned forward to see if there was any change he couldn't see it from a far. Alas, no big difference. There might have been a slight tinge of red or he could simply be wishing it to be there and to be successful. Suggest a color? Benny paused for a moment from his own spell focus to think. "Maybe green?" he offered his friend. All harvesty colors with the orange and green like a pumpkin.

Let's try this again.

"Capillus colorum!'' With a point at the eyebrow in question. This time there was red. At least the tips of the hair of his brow weren't his normal dirty blonde/brown color. Hearing the question from Adi, Ben turned to face him once more to look what had happened with the Hufflepuff. "Who knows?
