Default The Whomping Willow

The Whomping Willow is a very valuable, yet very violent species of magical plant. The tree was planted around the year of 1971, and has grown into the majestic beauty that we see today. Make no mistake, though... The Whomping Willow WILL attack if a person gets too close.

Was it just him or did everyone he mentioned it to find it odd that he had children? Was a man NOT allowed to procreate anymore? Perhaps it was just him. Could be they didn't take him seriously enough as a Professor making it harder to see him as a father. Whatever the reason, he nodded with the faintest hint of a proud beam being restrained. "Five of them actually; two sets of twins." Sophie being the middle child who carried around her own stuffed rabbit she considered a twin and why discourage her? It wouldn't cause any harm.

Hopefully...

...

Eh, he'd give it a few more years before he started being concerned. It didn't surprise him that Cosgrach had moved closer. Even if he didn't plan to learn in this particular instance, it never hurt to watch...and then be covered in snow by the work of a diligent student. It was always nice seeing fast learners, usually because it meant less effort on his part.

Maddox nodded at her question. "What do you think I was going to do with you? Pack the snow myself?" Snort. Not even. "The offer still stands unless you'd like to be a part of the process as opposed to the end product." See? Options, she had them.

Wait, 'my Sophie' referred to Maddox' KIDS.

Cosgrach blinked once. Honestly, Maddox really didn't look like the type... but yeah, who was he to judge people as his own child was on her way. As his own friends generally didn't have kids, he didn't know what exactly to say, so he kept silent. Sophie would know what to say, and it was her question anyway.

Mhmm, gonna learn how this animals thing worked...

Oh look, Sophie was even going to try it - wait, what was she doing? He eyed his feet - no, he eyed the snow that covered his feet, then heard Sophie's question.

"No you can't," he snapped at her, and lifted his feet after one another quickly and tried his best to throw the snow on them towards her legs. Then, he directed his wand quickly at the snow around HER and tried to work the spell, but he said "Excito animals," instead of the right incantation, and when nothing happened, he cursed grumpily.

He hated charms.

...FIVE KIDS?

"Merlin, how old are you, anyway? Thirty? And you've already got a small army?" Her eyes flickered to meet Culloden's briefly, where she wondered if he felt bad that this younger professor already had five kids when he was only getting one of his own within the next year.

Maaaaybe she shouldn't let them linger on the topic, hm? But it was STILL weird to her. Super weird. The dude was young and hot and the thought of him being a FATHER was... well... kind of gross. He was a dad. That meant he was too old to be hot anymore.

Shame, really.

Soph snorted at Culloden's reaction to her antics and watched with interest as he tried to retaliate - and said the incantation wrong and failed completely, which made her snort again. "I want to be part of the process," she responded brightly to Quigley, her eyes glued on Culloden accompanied by a mischievous grin. "Can he be our end product instead?" She pointed her wand at Culloden to signify who she meant and gave Quigley a hopeful look. "For learning purposes, of course. Good practice and all. Plus, he likes the attention." HEHEHEHE.

The more he watched the two was the less he understood. Was...him having children...a problem? It certainly wasn't unheard of or none of them would be here so......what...was the issue? It only became a LITTLE more clear at Miss Brown's question of his age. Naturally, he would lie about it, naturally. "49. Celebrating the big 5-0 come December." And jazz hands to boot. He just so happened to look 35. Completely coincidental.

So if they were willing to move on fro--

...

"Animans you mean." Just some light correction. Incantation was, afterall, an important part of getting any spell right. It was kinda what told the wand what to do, you know? So there it was, another unofficial lesson before the proper ones started.

And on that note. "Volunteer yourself, never others." Maddox looked to Cosgrach, a light expression on his face in gesture of the fact this was all good sport. "You up for it?" If not they could always conjure a subject to make into a snowman. It wasn't that big a deal and didn't bother him either way.

Okay what Maddox was older than him?

Even worse, had he just made a pronunciation mistake in the first spell he had learnt from him.

Mweeeeeeeeeeh. He wanted to quit.

"Have fun, you two," he said, "but I'm cold and heading inside. Maddox, I'll visit you to discuss... it." Yep? All good?

He waited only for a moment to see if they were coming too, and then started to walk towards the castle.

Forty-nine? Fat chance. Sophie knew better, and snorted, "You're lying. There's no way you're older than him. I don't see any grey hairs on your head." Heheheheh.

At the reprimand, Sophie wrinkled her nose. It wasn't that she was trying to VOLUNTEER him, Quigley, she was trying to... ambush him, maybe. If she had a say in it, they wouldn't have asked for Culloden's opinion at all. Oops.

Buuuuuuuuut... the potions master made it clear that he wanted out and started walking toward the castle, and the Ravenclaw's posture drooped slightly, disappointed and looking to Quigley for a signal on what they should do -

Nah. It was cold. Maybe they all should head inside.

"Maybe I'll make a snowman for you later and personally deliver it to your office to show off. It'll be good practice, Q. Hot chocolate sounds extra good right now, though." So, with an encouraging smile to Quigley, she trailed after Culloden... and wondered what she was supposed to do with that shield now. Hmmm.
