The door to a mysterious door on the fifth floor swings open to reveal a dank and dusty room which has clearly been vacant for years. White sheets cover the furniture, cobwebs fill every nook, cranny, corner, and everything in between, including a cup filled with wooden potion stirrers. The heavy scent of mildew permeates every aspect of the room. For some reason, all you can do is stand and stare inside.
Though the door swung open easily, a strange barrier once again prohibits the living from entering this room. The barrier was put in place by Marcella Riddle the term after her unfortunate demise and protected the peace and quiet of the ghosts still residing at Hogwarts. The room has on off since laid quietly in the years since the young Hogwarts ghosts reattained their bodies.
For more details on the former residents of this room, please read Hogwarts, A History, chapters term 5 to term 7).

"Can anyone else feel that!" Margo cried out reaching her hands behind to grab ahold of who ever was there. Lux, Zeke, Kace At this point it didn't matter who it was, it could be a complete stranger for all Margo knew! She didn't care, she needed to hold on to someone to ground her or she was likely to completely loose her mind.
Feeling uneasy due to the strange presence she could still feel, Lux kept looking around as if the perpetrator was going to suddenly pop out of nowhere. Was it because the living had entered the Spirit Room?
Something seemed a little off with Sir. Nicholas even though he had responded to her pleasantly enough. Before she could ask, Lux felt the invisible force go stronger and suddenly Margo was clinging to her. "It's going to be okay," she tried to reassure the young girl while the walls shook and the floor felt as if it was falling away.
...And then suddenly everything was back to normal. Slightly shaken, she looked to Sir. Nicholas. "Do you have any idea what that was?" As a ghost surely he was familiar with the spirit world.
curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog
Caleb DEFINITELY felt the ground shake...and then suddenly it stopped. What was going ONNN? Maybe it was just...the room not being used to human spirits? Hmm. Maybe that was it. It would make sense - they hadn't been able to get in this room for ageeeees. The room probably wasn't used to all this...alive-ness.
"Everyone just calm down and take a breather," the prefect instructed. "I think we're ok...whatever happened has passed," he told them.
For now, at least.

Puck felt the chill from earlier and tried to shift away from the cold. Hello, why was it chilly in here? And then there was that unsettling feeling and the room was it shaking. Oh merlin! What in Fawke's sake was going on here? She questioned and glanced around.
Did someone touch something they weren’t supposed to? Puck glanced over to Lux and even to the first year she was aiding. “I’ve no idea what that was but…it appears to have stopped thank merlin” she muttered her eyes still wide in shock.
Hellllooooooooooooo Caleb the room had been SHAKING that wasn’t nothing. Nope. Breather not happening. Prefect freaking out here. FREAKING OUT. She did her best to not show it though she did look a bit like a deer caught in the headlights.

If only ghosts could flush...
Nodding at the use of the word strange, he still could not bring himself to agree with the Ravenclaw house ghost entirely. "Perhaps I am far too Gryffindor to share the sentiment," he mused with an airy chuckle. "It feels quite exhilarating!" Nothing like the ominous presence many years ago that resulted in the death of two of Hogwarts' visiting professors.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The room falls silent as if the earlier happenings never occurred and the barrier that once kept the living out of this area appears to be completely vanished.
Now that...well...that surge was unexpected.
"Prefect Caleb is correct," Sir Nicholas said as he raised a translucent hand to hopefully silence all concern. Would be ever so helpful if the Astronomy professor would chim in, however. "Nothing to fear here, my dear friends." Save for this ghost's pride being a bit bruised.
Sir Nicholas cast as long glance towards Helena and the other ghosts before his eyes wandered towards the entrance where he felt....nothing.
Keeping a brave smile on his ghostly features, he floated towards the Lady Lux and pat her head affectionately, as well as the little Hufflepuff standing beside her. "My mind is entertaining a few thoughts," he lied. "Never fear, us ghosts shall figure this out in due time. For now, as it is quite late, perhaps it is time for you all to retire to your common rooms?"

Kate was frozen in fear, even as Caleb and the Gryffindor prefect assured them that everything would be just fine. Kate didn't know how they knew that for sure, other than the fact that nothing was really happening right now. She didn't care about that, though. If the whole place was crumbling down, she wanted to be by somebody who might have a plan. That somebody was either Caleb, the Gryffindor prefect, Professor Airey, or one of the ghosts.
So Kate stayed right in the thick of those people but edged toward the ghosts at the same time. "Helena," she said to her own house ghost. "Do you believe there's nothing to worry about?" Because, you know. Fellow Ravenclaw and all.
And since Adi loved all things magical creatures, he just had to go say hi. "Heya, Toddles.'' Aw, was the elf hungry? "How's it going?"
Toddles moves rounds room. Toddles sees lots studenties. Toddles scareds. Yes Toddles was. Toddles hears master and moves little feetsies. Toddles looks up at him with big brown eyes. "Master" he bowed to master. Yes Toddles does. "Toddles servings masters.." Toddles holds tray to master.

That's when Margo noticed Kace as well. Dear Merlin... not Kace....... blushed red deep down to her toes Margo couldn't believe she had just embarrassed herself in front of him. "That's Kace, I think I'm okay now." whoop...... more redness creeping in. And that's when Margo noticed the cold..... She began to shiver and actually took a stop closer to Lux and Kace. "Do you feel that? That's not Peeves being silly is it." Margo couldn't handle anymore of that guy today!
Kace hugged Margo closer and calmed her down. "I am glad you are okayy. Yeah Peeves usually hates the first years.." he gave the poltergeist an evil glare. "But I won't let him hurt you.." he promised that for sure.

Seeing another student (Kace) talking to him he floated up a bit higher. That's when he saw it. FOOD! Zooming towards the rotten meal he began to pig out, letting it fly around him as he moved.
As he stared at the poltergiest he felt food fly around and it hit him on the back. Errrghhh! That was SO gross. He even got some in his hair. Bloody Merlin he needed to teach Peeves a lesson. Now what was the spell Bleu used before in the great hall...
"Incarcerous!" he saw ropes conjure out of his wand and he thought it hit Peeves.
Then he felt a cold chill creep up on him that sent him goosebumps. He really felt cold and he thought it was something to do with the house ghosts in the room. He shuddered and he knew everyone else felt it. He heard Margo ask him and he nodded. "Yeah I felt that. That was weird.." was all he could sum up his feelings. He wondered what was going on.

........oh sweet solstice...he had missed something rather big, hadn't he?
Clearing his throat and resting the bowl back on the table, the astronomer adjusted his tie and took several steps so he could stand beside the Gryffindor house ghost.
"Sir Nicholas is right," he saluted, eyeing his sundial watch. "Thank you all for coming and participating in this little experiment. Back to the dormitories."
And all the awkward salutes for all you students. Yup. Nighty night.

Hady had remained rather calm through all the weirdness tonight. It was probably mostly due to her main focus being constantly diverted towards a certain lion. Not that she minded in the least it was most likely for the best.
However when Professor Airey announced that the night was over and they should all return to their dorms she couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. She wasn't exactly ready to head but she knew there wasn't any sense in voice her opinion on the matter. Glancing at Zeke she lightly squeezed his fingers as she smiled softly. "I guess we better get going, I'll see you tomorrow like always."

Helena felt the acute urge to raise her head and sigh out GRYFFINDOR's loudly at Sir Nicholas comments. He clearly didn't share the least bit in her worries. He seemed to be enjoying this while she was freaking out over this new surge of energy because it was making her feel things. Things she couldn't explain or grasp. And that made her very uncomfortable. Could she get a hug?

Helena was about to float over to Sir Nicholas side once more when she was addressed by one of the youngsters in her mother's house. Reaching out with her ghostly transparent hand to stroke the young girl's head reassuringly, hiding her own fears behind calm a mask Helena said. "There really is nothing to worry about at all dear. We house ghosts will investigate the room in due time. You should go back to your dorm and get some well earned sleep."

When the student's finally had all left for their dorms, Helena turned her gaze to Sir Nicholas fear etching her voice as she floated closer to him. "What do you think that was? What was that new energy we felt surge through the room?"

Caleb heard the Gryffindor ghost agree with him, but he couldn't help but feel that he was just saying that to stop mass panic. After all, that WAS what Caleb was doing. As much as he wanted to stay and chat with the ghosts - this WAS prefect business after all! - he knew he had to bring everyone back and get out of here ASAP.
"Alright Slytherins, you heard him - let's head back!" he called to the Slytherins in the room. Hopefully he'd see the Baron later and he could ask him if he'd spoken to the other ghosts and if they knew what had happened...

Floating in place for the time being, Sir Nicholas pulled at the hairs atop his head to wiggle it back and forth the half an inch of skin that left it connected to his body. "I cannot be sure," he replied quietly while giving the room a cursory glance over. Things appeared to be quiet now, but the lingering effects of what had just occurred were most peculiar.

"Do you...do you feel any different?"
Helena cringed just a little as Nick had his head wiggle back and forth. It always made her a little uncomfortable seeing that small inch of skin that connected his almost beheaded head to his body. Busying herself with her fan she glanced around the room curiously. "Do you think it could have been something sinister?"
Pondering his question Helena said thoughtfully. "Maybe, I don't know. It just makes me feel uncomfortable and a little scared." Given that it was just the two of them there, she felt that she could admit that to him.

Oblivious and only by happy coincidence, Sir Nicholas ceased his head wiggling. "Perhaps it is unwise of me to think so optimistically, but I do not believe that whatever happened here was sinister in nature."
Twirling his goatee with his finger, he floated a bit closer to Helena. "Fear not, milady," he said with a confident, yet cheeky, smile as one of his semitransparent arms went around her shoulders. "The Spirit Room seems safe enough, but we should pay the Headmistress a visit to inform her of these developments." Particularly the fact that the barrier was no longer in place.
