The door to a mysterious door on the fifth floor swings open to reveal a dank and dusty room which has clearly been vacant for years. White sheets cover the furniture, cobwebs fill every nook, cranny, corner, and everything in between, including a cup filled with wooden potion stirrers. The heavy scent of mildew permeates every aspect of the room. For some reason, all you can do is stand and stare inside.
Though the door swung open easily, a strange barrier once again prohibits the living from entering this room. The barrier was put in place by Marcella Riddle the term after her unfortunate demise and protected the peace and quiet of the ghosts still residing at Hogwarts. The room has on off since laid quietly in the years since the young Hogwarts ghosts reattained their bodies.
For more details on the former residents of this room, please read Hogwarts, A History, chapters term 5 to term 7).

Helena hesitated for just a moment before she nodded and inched even closer to Sir Nicholas, eyes darting around the room anxiously. "Yes, it feels strange." Regarding Sir Nick she asked hoping for support. "Does it not unsettle you too?"
"This new energy, it feels wrong." Helena commented in low tone.
Adjusting her Cygnus costume a little, and frowning a little about not being able to double check her eye make-up, as she could almost feel the feather over her eyebrow shifting whenever she blinked, she side stepped a little closer to Gabe. Honestly, she felt a little silly in her costume... Would other people be wearing them? It wasn't over the top or anything but still... At least she wasn't alone in that. Boyfriend looked amazingly handsome in that bodysuit. Mhm.
She shifted even closer to the boy as they arrived at the entrance to the spirit room. What were these nerves? Where were they coming from? She looked up at him, as he was still taller than she was even with the heels, and with a deep breath, moved into the room.
Her eyes darted, taking it all in, relaxing a little as she saw more costumes around the room. What was she so worried about?

Gabriel wasn't even sure if he wanted to be here...but CB was going and because of that alone, he decided it couldn't be that terrifying. She was in on it with him. All would be well...for the most part.
Dressed as a member of Starfleet (Star Trek nerd), he stayed close to the girlfriend; entering the party with wide eyes. Huh...a lot of people were here in the spirit room. And because it was a SPIRIT room, ghosts were present, too. Gabe seen his house ghost, for example, and relaxed a little. She offered more familiarity.
Well played, Flamsteed.
Noticing CB's fidgeting, Gabe muttered at her. "Are you sure about this?"

It was only now that she really fully took into account that she was inside the room. Inside the SPIRIT room. The previous years she'd spent reading her Hogwarts books, she'd come across some information, but not a lot, on the residence of the ghosts.
Standing up straighter, she flashed the boy a smile.
"Positive.... Are you?"
It would be weird to ask the ghosts more about their home, wouldn't it? After that thought, her eyes caught sight of Peeves. No, she hadn't had any interactions with him in her few years here... and she wasn't about to change that. She knew enough to steer clear of him and would very much like to keep it that way as long as possible.
So... he could stay over there by the food and she... would move this way. Yes.
"The food looks like stuff you might like but.." she lowered her voice. "Can we wait until Peeves leaves to check it out?" And move toward the potted plants in the meantime?

"I'm not really hungry...." Gabe had nerves about this party as it was, thanks. He honestly didn't know if he'd be able to keep anything down...and that was a risk and embarrassment he didn't need right now. But...if she was hungry, he'd was more than willing to walk over with her...whenever she was ready. But...apparently, that wasn't right now. See, Gabe had never had any run-ins with Peeves...and didn't understand what the big deal was. He'd had nothing was good spirit experiences; The Grey Lady and Professor Burbage being the only two.
...but they were heading towards some potted plants for now. What was this about? Professor Flamsteed had set up some sort of challenge...Herbology-equs in nature. Eh, it wasn't his strongest subject...but he knew the charm.
Guessing from everyone else...who'd already done this, these were pumpkin plants.
Huh.
"Do you want to try this?"

Coral hummed quietly as they moved closer to the tables and tucked her hair behind her ears. Her eyes roamed over the table briefly before they found their way to the blackboard.
She nodded. "It looks like fun... and I'd like to test it... So, could we?" It sounded like something Gabe would like too.. Science-y, you know? She picked up one of the pots with the saplings as well as the marker and neatly wrote her name and the rest of the requested informations along it's side,

as well as a little heart after her name. Hehe.
She was starting to get a little more into the spirit... sort of. Even if she still kind of wanted to go back to her room and spend the rest of the day with the kitty. Maybe if she tried to act less mopey about the day she would actually feel less mopey. Maybe.

Norah moved away from her super GINORMOUS pumpkin to go pick out another pot. Hmmmmmm. She eyed them all closely, 'cause Friedrich 2.0 couldn't have just ANYBODY as a companion. Duh. The third year selected a pot and held it gingerly as she moved away from the table so she had enough room to perform the spell. Which was HARD, by the way, because the sparkly star costume made it hard to move. Whatever. It was sparkly, which mattered the most.
She held her wand awkwardly in front of her as she tried to concentrate on the spell and NOT get distracted by the shimmery things her sleeves were doing. Heh. Okay, no. Spell time. "Vitari!" Norah watched as NOTHING happened. LAME-O PUMPKIN. Come ON Friedrich 2.0 needed a friiiiiiend. Why hadn't it wo--oh. It was GROWING. The Hufflepuff leaned over her pot and stared at it as the little plant started to get bigger and bigger. Slowly but surely. Emphasis on SLOWLY. Her pumpkin came into being and grew to an average size before stopping. Ahem. Whut. Hellloooo pumpkin why are you stopping? She gave it a little poke but it just sat there. Oh, well. Friedrich could have a normal sized pumpkin friend then. She shrugged a little, as well as she could in her costume anyway, because it wasn't fair to judge people OR pumpkins for being small. She knew that. Now just time to write her name!

Well, that settled it, then.
Nodding because CB had already grabbed a marker was was claiming two of the potted plants; Gabriel followed suit; deciding on two close by. It was a bit difficult writing on them like this...as it made his writing almost illegible, but he supposed it was good enough. Nope, Gabe wasn't allowing his brain to do the thing. No re-writing it over and over again.

With both written on and placed back in their starting position, Coral took a step back and pulled out her wand. She looked her own saplings over, and took more peeks at the already grown pumpkins.
"Do you think we could use these pumpkins later? I mean.. If I ask Professor Flamsteed... Could we try to make something with them?"
It was the right time of the year for pumpkins and what better time, right? She could owl Cat for recipes and... clearly they'd have enough pumpkins if they messed up... Well... if she messed up. But anyway.
She nodded again, "Yes please," and trained her wand on the first sapling. "Ready?"

Making something with pumpkins...as in a 'cooked' something? See, that was the best way to get Gabe's attention. Not that CB didn't usually have Gabe's attention...but he had a certain love for pumpkin foods. Everyone knew. It wasn't a secret.
"Are you going to ask?"...or did she want him to ask? Gabe would absolutely ask if that's what she wanted. They would make this pumpkin business happen. Professor Flamsteed seemed like a very nice, kind, understandable guy....Waste not, want not, right? Seemed a terrible shame with all these pumpkins just sitting around...
Following her lead, Gabriel pulled his wand and trained it on the first of his two saplings. It was just the two of them over here, in Gabriel's opinion. So, he had some confidence. Easier to achieve when he thought it in that regard.
"Three."
"Two."
"One."
"Vitaris!"

She glanced over at the professor, who she'd always thought was nice enough, even after the whole pirate ordeal of last term... But even if he didn't strike her as 'nice' she still probably would have asked. "I can do it. It's my idea, anyway." Not that she was possessive over her idea. She just... figured she should work for it.
Settling her footing as he got ready beside her and tucking some hair behind her ear as to not allow it to get in the way, she listened to his count and....
...
"Vitaris!" she sang in chorus with him.
...
Oh.
Was it any different than normal? ... She couldn't tell. It looked... average. But maybe... was it supposed to be anything special? Bigger in size? Was it already de-gutted? No... probably not. Sigh.
Deflated, she looked over at Gabe.
Any luck?

He had shown up still clad in his fairy costume, obviously. Maggie was an ANGEL for giving him wings, did she know? Except she wasn't really; actually, she was also a fairy. A fairy QUEEN. HIS FAIRY QUEEN. His MAJESTIC, lovely fairy queen who roamed all the land and sprinkled glitter on lovely people with lovely au-
Dima digressed. Too much. As usual.
To be honest, he couldn't find any of his friends in there, and he had only shown up for the food; however, he couldn't help noticing Gabe (potion friend!!!) and CB (bug friend!!!) by some.... potted plants? Huh? Why were THOSE there? This required some investigation.
Flapping his wings around, he moved closer to the blackboard to read the instructions. A challenge? Well, COUNT HIM IN. Then food as a reward.
Moving to claim a plant, he filled in his information on the side.

See, Gabe hadn't been looking at his own pumpkin after casting the spell. He'd been more interested in what Coral's was doing...and if she was being successful. Gabe selfishly felt proud...and a little smug whenever she did well, which was probably stupid of him. Seeing her pumpkin immediately sprouting and expanding caused him to smile, though. A real one...and he didn't see it as average...FYI. It was a nice, healthy pumpkin!orange, too.
"Good j-...."
Glancing back at his own, the compliment died on his tongue. Were these pumpkins supposed to grow to be THAT big?!...It was definitely more sizable than what he perceived pumpkins to be. Sure, the groundskeeper had some overly huge pumpkins in the Hogwarts' pumpkin patch...but Gabe surmised he enhanced them with magic or "special fertilizer". Huh...which was what he'd just done (in the magic sense). So, that was probable.
Could Gabe keep this one? They could make A LOT of pumpkin pasties, given it's size. "Do you suppose it's because of the cross quarter day?"...or had Gabe just gotten over excited with the spell? That had been known to happen before. NBD.
They were meant to do this twice...So, he'd be keeping his eyes on this second one....
"Ready?"

She turned around and grinned widely at him. "Could be..."Or you could just be you. One of those things. Maybe both. But she already knew she'd never have a sure answer to that. Alright. Okay. VITARIS CHARM. Dima was so ready for this, since Bentley had taught them the spell in his first year for Bonsai-making. It was nice of Professor Top Hat to suggest they use to novice spell instead of the slightly harder 'Herbivicus', yeah? He might not be ABLE to do that.
But he knew this one, so ALL GOOD.
Taking a deep breath, Dima gave his wand a flick in the direction of his potted plant. It looked like CB and Gabriel were growing pumpkins, right? And they had dealt with pumpkins last lesson, so it only made sense. He knew what name to say now. "Vitaris Pumpkin!" Aw yeah. C'mon. GROW, GOURD, GROW.
O_______________O
Okay, it was growing a little TOO much. Bigger than the pot now. Dima might have screamed a little.

Oh....success equaled a hug. Well, Gabriel couldn't (and wouldn't) say no to that...even if they were in a public venue. It had just been one, anyway...much to his dismay. No one was paying them any attention, anyway, right?
Except...a little Dima Toussaint looking fairy.
Flushing brightly, Gabe cleared his throat and pulled away from CB completely; looking every bit of like he'd just been caught doing something he wasn't supposed to. Guilty face, much. Focusing fully on the pumpkin plants, he noted CB waving at Dima and only flushed harder. It was awkward and weird when people saw you...being affectionate. No matter to what degree. And Gabriel wasn't good under the microscope, anyway.
He quickly shook his head to all her questions...and more throat clearing. Embarrassment was a tricky thing.
Back to the task at hand, however. The girlfriend was already counting down and Gabe quickly readied himself. Both eyes were on the plant this go. No sneaky giant pumpkins for him...
"Vitaris."
He only managed to view the first bit of his pumpkin sprouting up and out of the pot, abnormally accelerated and monstrously sized, before there was a scream off to the side...and Gabe jerked around to see that it was Dima...and his pumpkin was...Wow....O.O....It was still growing. What?
Uh...
Also, Dima Toussaint was a Claw. This was....he and CB's responsibility....right? Uhhhhh......
".......What....are you screaming at?"

He stopped screaming long enough to RUN AWAY FROM the pumpkin, because what if it got too big and fell on him and crushed his lungs so that he could breathe? Or worse, his ESOPHAGUS so he couldn't EAT ALL THE YUMMY FOOD in the room?!?!?!? And now Gabe was asking what it WAS? Uhhh? Was the guy a Ravenclaw or what? He just POINTED at the pumpkin. Seriously, man. Use your noggin. What did he THINK the kid was screaming at? No giant pumpkins or anything. No big deal.
Dima was so scared of that stupid gourd.
But once it stopped growing (its circumference was probably longer than he was tall), the third year tentatively approached it again, glancing at CB and Gabriel in terror. They would SAVE him if it got bad, right? The pumpking was somehow balancing precariously on the pot, though he had no idea how. Didn't this defy the laws of physics or something? WHAT WAS GOING ON? Cross-quarter day was freaky.
Still, he had to do one more plant. So the kid flicked his wand at the second one, hoping it wouldn't get so... giant. "Vitaris Pumpkin!" It was growing slower, huh? A LOT slower. Still faster than his Bonsai had grown, but slower than the first pumpkin on which he had cast. Except.... it was reaching THAT size now. That humongous, terrifying size of the previous one that he had been trying to avoid.
Uh... okay. That was it. This was going to turn into some pumpkin apocalypse, and Dima wasn't sticking around for it. "Bye, guys."
There was food in the Great Hall, too. Sayonara, party.

And it was......... average again. Maybe only the tiniest bit larger than the previous one, but nothing too big. It was still a nice color.. a nice texture.. no dents or weird looks to it but... Nothing as big as Gabe's. It was average and boring, similar to herself. Maybe that's why hers were small in comparrison's to Gabe's.....

Gabe squinted at the younger boy...and then shifted his gaze to the overly huge pumpkin; trying extremely hard not to smile. It was almost as big as Dima, so that might've been where the fright came from. This one could make even more pumpkin pasties than his....They just needed to get it to the kitchen. He'd help carve it...
Levitation, perhaps? Assuming they could get it through the door...
...but the younger Claw was already leaving and Gabe blinked after him, a bit puzzled at the frightened act. Was Dima really scared....of the giant pumpkins? Well, now that he thought about it, they were massive and would probably hurt a great deal if they accidentally fell on someone. And Dima was little...Well, littler than himself. Gabe just couldn't bring himself to being scared of something he enjoyed so much.
Turning back to the girlfriend...he noted her pumpkin and gave her a secretive smile. Just for her. No one else needed to see, thanks...and he mouthed something, as well. Did she understand? Gabe was being serious here...and meant it. Yes.
"Do you want to stay for a little longer?"

"Do you want to say for a little longer?"
It was funny to her that she didn't even need to hear those words out loud for them to have exactly the same effect.
Just to know he was thinking them was enough to get her weak in the knees. Which.... she was. She wobbled a little, her arms sliding around herself. If she couldn't get more hugs from Gabe right this instant, that would have to do. And no, she hadn't missed that smile. That was also part of the reason her cheeks were flaming.
She was so busy smiling from ear to ear that she nearly forgot to mouth them back. Which she did.
Knees threatening to crumble her, she whispered back. "Can we go somewhere? Just us?" Because... if he was going to mouth something like that and flash one of his cutest rarest smiles, she sure wanted to be somewhere where she could hug him... and probably kiss him. Definitely kiss him. And this wasn't that place.
"Let me just ask Flamsteed about the pumpkins?"

"Yes. I have a stash." And that was all she'd say on that matter. "Uh yeah, who doesn't?" Hady grinned at him. Some flavors were horrible but that was the whole point. It was all in fun.
The nudge she hadn't been expecting but she figured the whole hip-hop thing wouldn't be expected. Not from a Slytherin. Whoa what?! He wanted to see her dance. "Erm well...uh.." She stammered stupidly for a brief moment before composing herself. "Yeah sure but only under one condition." Ha! She'd get him on this.
The small was still in place as she looked at him all soak and wet. It was funny but then it wasn't. In a way she somewhat felt bad and was about to take her turn just as she had planned but was being pulled away. "Hey wait a second, it's supposed to be my turn. Where are we going?" Why was he leading her away before she got her turn? Other Slytherin's would be dying to see each other soaked. Zeke wasn't a Slytheri though.
Traveling was cool. She wanted to do that someday as well. Though not alone cause that would be boring. "Um... well I haven't thought much on it myself either. Would being completely truthful with someone count?" Probably not but it was worth a shot.
She had a stash? A mysterious stash at that. No word on where it was or what it contained... how, interesting. He'd find out more later, he was sure of it. It pleased him though, that she DID like Bertie Botts, cause he couldn't imagine being friends with someone who didn't. That was simply unfathomable. "Excellent, I'll teach you a game with them then." For when they had some, and found some free time to play it in. But they would have all the time in the world on the weekend - provided homework didn't take over their lives.
Zeke raised an eyebrow curiously as Hady stammered a little. Was something the matter? Did she not want to show him her moves? Book... of course, he perked up when she said 'yeah sure', but reservations set in when there was a condition to be set. "Let me guess," he started, both eyebrows raised because he just KNEW, surely he knew what the condition was. "You want me to dance too, right?" It was a hell of a price to pay, but he was willing to go along with it. She didn't say he would have to dance well, yet.
Still he continued to march her forward, and even through his protesting he was determined to get her away from the game. "There's no point in you getting wet too," he started, "that, and I can't have you beating me," he added, a lopsided smirk lifting the corner of his lips.
He was still half contemplating ALL of what he wanted to achieve in life, and half listening to what Hady was saying, his complete attention turning to her as she came to some sort of conclusion. Being completely truthful with someone? Uuuhhh... "Sure," he decided. Sure it could be a thing. "Though, how have you not been completely truthful with anyone before?" Was she not being truthful with him now? Or was she only PARTIALLY truthful with him? In which case, how much was not truthful? How much was deceptive? ... He struggled to think of her as anything BUT honest and well yeah, truthful. ... Was she thinking about the technicalities. There was a lot of things to know about a person, sometimes it was hard making sure people understood you, let alone knew EVERYTHING about you and how you were feeling. This was a very complex idea.

Hady did have a stash of candies and treats out away that no one knew about. She wouldn't mind letting Zeke in on it but she'd have to tell him all about it another time when there wasn't so many ears around. "Cool, sounds like fun to me." A game with Bertie's Botts sounded interesting and she was curious to know what it was. Hopefully they didn't like have to put several different ones into their mouth at once or something. Knowing her luck she'd choke or get sick.
Had she really just agreed to show him how she could dance? No one but Jaxon and her parents and teacher/classmates knew that she could. Hopefully she wouldn't mess up and make a fool of herself...better yet maybe he'd forget. At the raised eyebrows and his knowing question she grinned. "Yup. It could be fun." Maybe she'd even teach him something.
He wasn't allowing her to stop. So she let herself be pulled okay as his reasoning was fair enough and made her laugh. "I'm terrible at it too but if you're sure then." Why argue over it if he was keeping her from getting soaked herself.
Uh. Uh-oh? She'd messed up now. She should've come up with something else but yeah she hadn't and now he was calling her out on it. He didn't think she was being untruthful to him though did he? Hady wouldn't lie to him about anything. "Just simple things like saying I'm okay when I'm really not or something. Nothing really important and before you can ask no I haven't been untruthful to you. I wouldn't cause you know me well enough to know if I was being dishonest." Slytherin or not she knew she wouldn't be able to not tell him the truth without him seeing it in her eyes or hearing it in her voice.
As the evening wears on you begin to feel an unmistakable force building up as if charged with energy. The feeling is an unsettling one that could warn of anything or nothing at all. Things around the room begin to shake, even the walls can be heard rattling. The ground beneath you feels as if it is falling away and then...
....
.......
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The room falls silent as if the earlier happenings never occurred and the barrier that once kept the living out of this area appears to be completely vanished.

Kate was starting to get a little sleepy, but she also didn't want to leave the party early. She loved hanging out with everybody else, and it was something new to do besides just go to classes and do her homework. Besides, the creepy feeling from earlier hadn't really bothered her anymore, so she was starting to think it was all Halloween superstition.
She was just about to say something to the people she'd been talking to, when another uneasy feeling came to her and the whole place began to shake. "What's going on?!" she asked, as if anybody who might have heard her would know the answer. "Am I the only one who felt that and saw that?" Just making sure, because if nobody else felt anything unusual, she was officially going crazy.
Her heart started to beat faster and louder as she waited for somebody to say something. Was this going on in the whole castle, or should they get out of here now?

Margo seen the walls shaking, she felt the floor rattle and now she was even more scared than when Peeves was around. Was all this really happening or was this just a big joke, was the Professor playing games with them. From her experience here so far that wasn't uncommon for the Professor's to do.
"Can anyone else feel that!" Margo cried out reaching her hands behind to grab ahold of who ever was there. Lux, Zeke, Kace At this point it didn't matter who it was, it could be a complete stranger for all Margo knew! She didn't care, she needed to hold on to someone to ground her or she was likely to completely loose her mind.
