"Yeah we can! What muggles shows did you have in mind?" He was curious to hear what she wanted to watch. He was up for cartoons but whatever suited Lux's fancy. He hoped for no princesses but he wouldn't judge. "Sure we can have some fun." he said looking around and getting some snacks and a drink. He needed some substance.

As he was with Lux, he heard Peeves was in here and he rolled his eyes. He couldn't find ANYTHING better to do? He heard he was picking on someone and he looked over and it was poor Margo. Oh no not her. He immediately was protective and went over to her. "Margo are you okay?" he asked. Then he looked up at Peeves and he got mad.

He went up to the ghost and asked, "Hey Peeves why don't you pick on someone your own size?" he held out his wand just incase he had anything planned.

In the middle of the Halloween festivities, you can't help but notice an imposing presence or maybe more. The atmosphere itself is not quite what it was a moment ago causing a slight chill. What is this feeling? It's not certain but the energy in the room has begun to change.

Now that he wasn't distracted with his spellwork, Benny took notice of other stuff in the room. The festivities were in full swing besides the extra credit and most seemed to be enjoying themselves. But alas, there was also Peeves causing trouble. You couldn't entirely blame him though since he had a point. This room normally was the designated room for the spirits of the castle, including himself, to hang out on their own. WITHOUT humans.

Still...could we get him to stop?

The Gryffindor unconsciously shivered causing him to wonder if somehow there was a breeze. "Did you feel that?" he asked Adi who was still beside him.

Was that Margo... screaming? Adi dropped the marker back on the table and turned in the direction of her voice. He had totally missed out on Peeves scaring Margo before but now as he surveyed the situation, he could see quite clearly what was going on. Gosh, wasn't Zeke the brave one? Well, he wasn't a lion for nothing.

Abandoning all things vines and pumpkins, the fifth year scurried over to the firstie on the floor. "Margo! Are you alright? You hurt?" Concerned big brother over here. He held out a hand to help her to her feet.

"Great going, Benny,'' Adi said as he inspected the pumpkins. "Not bad at all. I could still fit a couple of you in here." Hehe. Suddenly his amused look faded and he shivered slightly. "That chill?'' he asked Benny. "Because yeah... I do.'' Adi looked around. "I wonder what that's all about.'' Not Chorts again, right?

Awww, poor little Margo. As the little Firstie fell, Lux held her hands out to help her up. "It's okay, he's just a big bully. We can deal with him." Yep. And Professor Flamsteed was here, so if it got out of hand surely he could deal with Peeves. It was beyond her why he was even allowed to stay in the school...

It was awesome that she had muggle shows to watch with Kace. They would have loads of fun! "I like cartoons," she admitted figuring that he seemed the type to like them too. She had a feeling he wouldn't want to watch girly shows, so she wouldn't subject him to them. She was such a good friend. "Awesome! Let's get some food first though." Yum, food.

Suddenly she felt something in the atmosphere and a strange chill was in the air. At least she wasn't the only one. "I felt it too. The Chorts had better not be back..." Sne could not deal with that again after what happened to Bay.

Kate was still looking at her newly-sprouted, extra large pumpkin, when she suddenly caught a chill. She shivered and automatically wrapped her arms around her chest. "It's getting kind of chilly in here," she said to Dot. She glanced down and checked out her costume, which covered her arms and legs and was meant to be protection against the Fall weather. Not to mention that they were inside the castle. "I just get a weird kind of feeling."

She shrugged then looked back at the pumpkins, thinking nothing of the chill and casting it off as her vivid imagination.

Norah kept looking up at Zander with wide eyes for a moment before breaking out into a grin and nodding 'till it made her neck start feeling all funny. Wasn't it obvious that she liked sparkles? Did she not talk about them enough? 'Cause she could definitely talk about them more, if he wanted. "I DO like sparkles!" Gold star for him, if it took him a while to figure that out. Not everyone was as fast as others at figuring things out, SHE sure knew that. "They're just so HAPPY, y'know? And reflect-y and cool looking. Bright stuff can make a day brighter." MAYBE Zander needed a lesson on being happy AND on sparkles. She could give one to him if he wanted. There could be lots of hugs and everything!

The Hufflepuff felt her eyes go all round again, but she DIDN'T let her mouth fall open 'cause apparently that was rude or something. "A big crime?! Wooooah." But why was it a crime? Norah's eyebrows scrunched together as she thought about it. Uranus. Yoo-rainus. Your-anus.....okay. What was so bad about the wrong pronunciation? Could she ask him? He was a prefect, that meant he knew things, right? She opened her mouth to ask, but then closed it again because what if he thought she was dumb for not knowing? She LIKED this Zander guy, she had already made an OFFICIAL decision about that, and she didn't want to have to undo all the officialness if he decided to be judgmental or something. So no. No questions, the just serious nodding that grownups did when they talk about manners and time outs and vegetables. WAIIT A SECOND. HE WAS GOING TO DESTROY IT? "Scrap it? Why?! It could be used for so many cool things!" A BAZILLION of 'em! "Like a cat house! OR a crup house. Or a toad house or a fox house. OOH! OR a hat for an elephant or a something you sit in to roll down big hills." There were loads of important uses for a big ball like that, yep. DUH. Old people had no imagination, honestly. She was gonna be old and mature and stuff but that didn't mean she couldn't roll down hills in an elephant hat.

SO. SOOOOO. Time to charm her plant pot now, wooooh! Giddy from excitement at the MYSTERY this activity was, Norah bounced on her tip toes a few times before shaking out her arms and facing the ickle pot. "Vitaris!" She watched with HUGE eyes as a little plant began to grow up from the dirt. Okayokayokay could it grow a little FASTER please? She wanted to know what it was! La la la growing growing growing. Was it just her or was it speeding up a little? HEY! Was that--it was! A pumpkin! She was gonna have a little pumpkin, like Friedrich 2.0! WOOOOOOH! The thirteen year old watched and BEAMED at the pumpkin as it kept growing and growing and growing and woah. It was gonna be a biiiig pumpkin, apparently. HEY Friedrich 2.0 STOP GROWING. WHAAAAT why was it still getting bigger, it was gonna crush her pretty pot! Her bouncing became more urgent until FINALLY it was done getting bigger. PHEW, no crushed pots and she could totally give this one a good hug. COOL BEANS. Could she do another?

Alright, one more go and then extra credit was done - then Caleb could focus on the REAL fun of the party. FOOOOOD! He was also having a great time checking out the costumes his fellow classmates had worn to the party - there were some seriously creative people in this school! Not as creative as him and his awesome pirate costume of course, but nonetheless creative.

He picked another pumpkin sprout and flicked his wand towards it. "Vitaris!" he exclaimed. He watched as the plant grew and....nothing. Same old pumpkin. So much for that whole star fueled powerful spell nonsense. So, with a sigh, he took his marker and wrote his name on the pot once again.

Where did that chill come from?

THAT was the question on Adi's mine but it wasn't there for long. Why? Because he had spotted a certain House Elf! "Hey, Benny. Look it's Toddles.'' The Elf had served them cookies and milk the other day in the Kitchen.

And since Adi loved all things magical creatures, he just had to go say hi. "Heya, Toddles.'' Aw, was the elf hungry? "How's it going?"

Dot felt it too, and she pulled her cloak more tightly around her, until all that was visible from the hood was the tip of her nose and a few freckles. "It's not cold, exactly. Just makes my hair stand all on end, though."

It was hard to carry the pumpkin under her cloak AND keep her hood drawn up, and she finally had to set the pumpkin on the floor and sit on it like a little stool. She rubbed the goosebumps on her arms and watched Kate work.

"I think it's because this is the ghost room. Maybe they're coming back."

Okay, so it wasn't just her. Kate glanced in the direction of the Slytherin prefect, the boy who'd helped her open the trunk in the Charms Annex. "So this doesn't happen often?" she asked, because she just assumed they might do this kind of thing often--coming into the Spirit Room for gatherings and the such. They weren't the first people in a long while to come in here, were they?

Kate suddenly got a funny feeling in the pit of her stomach, and this time it had nothing to do with feeling cold. This time it had everything to do with feeling frightened. Catching Dot's movement out the corner of her eye, Kate looked toward the older girl and nodded. "Yeah, I think that's the feeling," she agreed. Not cold but something that made her feel a different sort of chill.

Kate was never one to just turn to trouble and hunt it down. Unless something else happened, she was going to give the situation the benefit of the doubt. Or she could run. There was always the option of running.

Toby's costume had been all set to be super awesome and all that, were it not for the fact that he'd had a change of heart immediately before leaving his dormitory. Originally, he'd been all set to wear a sort of... giant inflated ball type thing, paint himself rock grey and go as Pluto. But, as always tended to happen to him on Halloween, his heart eventually had no longer been in it. So Toby had abandoned the ball and just went with charming his skin and hair to roughly be Pluto colours, and wore all grey clothing. Luckily for him, that included his 'VIVA LA PLUTO' t-shirt, so now everyone would still surely know that this kid was Pluto. Being smaller than most in his year also helped. He could relate to Pluto in that way.

But yes, anyway, here Toby was. At the party, feeling a distinct lack of enthusiasm but pretending otherwise anyway (it was easy when you knew how). But there was work to be done, hmm? Then he would focus on that.

Toby saluted Airey as he crossed the room (did he see his shirt? wasn't it awesome?) to wear other students were working on plants. Oooooh, that perked him up a bit. Toby's loved for Herbology meant that anything plant-related instantly improved any situation. That was probably why he made such a bond with Peter, who... was floating above him somewhere.

Before he let himself get too distracted with that, Toby shook his head and pulled out his wand and pulled his first flowerpot towards him.

"Vitari," he said confidentially, as this was a spell he knew well from his occasional foray into the greenhouses. Well... a bit more than occasional.

But Toby was NOT expecting the speed with which this plant grew. He'd never considered the Vitaris Charm to be all that slow, but the monumental speed at which his plant had just grown made all the other performances look like they'd been slower than snails' pace. One minute, tiny sprout, and the next... SUDDEN PUMPKIN (at least he was less shocked by what the plant was). Toby blinked, like he couldn't quite believe what had just happened, and then slowly looked up at the floating pumpkins, watching with something akin to wonder as the carved constellations glinted near the ceiling.

Huh. How about that.

Now grabbing a marker, Toby labelled his flowerpot and set it to one side before reaching for a new one. Could he do that again?

The Hufflepuff was also vaguely aware of Peeves making mischief with other students in the room. He glanced around at them, to see if anyone needed assistance, but it LOOKED as though there were more than enough people facing the poltergeist. Toby wasn't quite up to drawing attention to himself at the moment if it could be helped. So... next pumpkin then.

Hady gave a small involuntary shudder unconsciously tightening her grip on Zeke's hand. Not only did a small chill just pass through the young girl but she also had that feeling of being watched, or not being alone. Clearly they weren't alone as it was a party but the feeling you get sometimes, caused by something unwelcomed. Scanning the room quickly she didn't notice anything out of the ordinary which didn't help. Glancing beside her she wondered if Zeke sensed it too.

Before he could even consider asking Zeke however her attention was drawn to the small elfie that had suddenly appeared. "Hello Toddles, how are you today?" She called out to him wondering if he'd remember her at all from when she'd seen him in the kitchens awhile ago.

Toby was prepared this time. Like, he KNEW that something would likely happen with this spell that was out of the ordinary. He had his second flowerpot ready to go, but was casting his gaze very quickly over the pumpkins that other kids had managed to grow. There was a big variety in the size of pumpkins, so did that mean this his one might grow huge, as well as fast? Could he repeat that trick? Because the Herbology enthusiast part of his brain wanted to see that done again.

So, here goes then...

"Vitari!"

Toby did his best to mimic that last casting of the spell, but instantly he knew he'd not been able to repeat it. The pumpkin started to grow, by no means slow but muuuuuuch steadier than that last one. Toby watched to see if it would get any bigger, like some others he saw, but when it stopped at roughly the same size at the last time, he still wasn't disappointed with the little guy. It had done its best.

He gave the pumpkin a reassuring pat to communicate those thoughts, before using the marker to label the flowerpot just like last time.

And there, that was his two done. For a moment, Toby cast a longing look at the other flowerpots, wanting to try the spell over and over again to see what results he'd get (ideally, a huuuuuuge, super-fast-growing pumpkin), but resisted the urge. It was meant to be for eeeeeveryone after all. And it was probably unwise to bury his feelings in pumpkins, because Toby was sort of aware that that had been part of the temptation.

So instead, he could go enjoy this party now. The boy Pluto, formerly known as Tobias, turned back to the room and sort of skirted round the edge a bit, looking for something to really delve into. Something fun. Or... or he could go eat lots of food; that was a viable option.

She'd GIVE him that one? That was cute. "Who doesn't like carrots?" And it wasn't as if it tasted of carrots, it tasted mostly of sugar anyway. Still, it was all in good fun. Returning the squeeze of his fingers, Zeke smiled at the game she'd chosen to try first. Bobbing for apples, and him first? "I'd say ladies ought to go first, but if you insist," he mused. It was hardly a lady-like game after all.

He was about to suggest that they make concessions with apple and cherry flavoured things, swap them so they would both be very satisfied, but there she was taking the words right out of his mouth - kinda, sorta, not exactly but the idea was there. "Sure, and any green apple flavoured things I get I'll send your way." He was sure he still had some of those sour apple candies in his dorm. Hmm.

Zeke wasn't sure what he'd been hoping for when he asked that question, truthfully, he hadn't really thought it through and all. When Hady answered, he listened with great interest, his earlier smirk softening to a smile. "Awesome, any particular style of dance? My little sister does ballet," he said, thinking back to Avery and wondering how she was liking the attention at home now she was on her own. But him? Talents? ... "Nope, I'm boring like that... but I guess I'm fairly good at climbing things?" Was that a talent? And was he even good enough at it? Who knew.

But... apple bobbing.

Zeke dropped Hady's hand so he could roll up his sleeves. This was serious business. "I'm terrible at this, just so you know." And without another word, Zeke plunged his face into the tub of what he hoped was water, and attempted to BOB for an apple.

Without success. Surrendering, Zeke withdrew his face from the tub, his fringe sticking to his forehead.

"... told you so."



He heard her scream, and heard a sound that could only be attributed to falling, but he was still STARING down Peeves. The voices of Kace, Adi and Lux were noted, but he wasn't about to look away. Kate saying to pick on someone his own size probably wasn't the smartest though, THEY were more Peeves' size.

Zeke wasn't budging, he'd fight the thing if he had to, but what he DID realise was an eerie chilly feeling which came on quite suddenly. ... ... What was that? Where was it coming from?

He vaguely heard Lux mention Chorts. What were Chorts?

Just one small tear rolled down her cheek as Margo took Lux's hand and got back up to her feat. "Thanks, sorry about that" Margo said trying to collect her self enough to move on with the party.... She was having fun...not so much anymore. Though Margo was really grateful for her friends coming to her rescue.

That's when Margo noticed Kace as well. Dear Merlin... not Kace....... blushed red deep down to her toes Margo couldn't believe she had just embarrassed herself in front of him. "That's Kace, I think I'm okay now." whoop...... more redness creeping in. And that's when Margo noticed the cold..... She began to shiver and actually took a stop closer to Lux and Kace. "Do you feel that? That's not Peeves being silly is it." Margo couldn't handle anymore of that guy today!


Turning slightly, Margo forgot that she needed to finish her stupid pumpkin growths..... but by now she was so over and her heart was not in it all. Taking the most boring pot, Margo set it down. Spotting the smile she had to return. That was one thing about being with Zeke. When he smiled so did you. She couldn't help it. His little sister danced? That was cool, what she wanted to know was could he dance? The thought caused a small smirk to form rather then the smile. "Uh I did ballet when I was small as well as tap and jazz it was taught together but now it's mainly more hip-hop." Yes she was very well aware that she didn't appear the hip-hop type but she hadn't been seen outside of the school. He didn't have a talent? Oh come on. "Climbing? Not exactly but I suppose it could be."

"My turn then...uh what's something you've always wanted to do but never got the chance to?" This one should make them both think about it.

Letting his hand go she watched him roll his sleeve up and attempt to get an apple. Sadly he didn't do so well and now he was all wet. Giggling quietly Hady instinctively reached up without a thought of it and pushed his wet hair back off his face for him. "There. At least you gave it a try."

People? HA! "Crazy people," he teased, quite content with deluding himself into thinking carrots were the best thing since sliced bread. And OF COURSE she insist that he go first. Why wouldn't she? Just let him make a fool of himself instead. He was up for it though, anything for a good laugh.

"Is that so?" he asked at her statement of getting a great deal of candy. "Well then I'll have to make sure I keep up with supply and demand. Do you like Bertie Botts?" he asked, wondering if she might play his game with him one day.

Seeing Hady smile wasn't at all unusual or a cause for concern, but he couldn't help but notice the small smirk that formed on her lips. What was she thinking? Hhhmmm? It didn't surprise her that ballet had been part of her dance learning, the jazz and tap warranted an eyebrow raise, impressive... and the hip hop... "Well now that I've got to see," he mused, nudging her gently. Only if she wanted to of course. She had a point though, climbing wasn't really a talent, but he couldn't think of anything better. "That's all I've got," he shrugged. Fail.

As politely as Hady did it, he could see her giggling, but he didn't mind at all. He blew a droplet of water from the tip of his nose to emphasise his misfortune. Zeke Rogers, a drowned rat. Even as Hady raised a hand to wipe the hair out of his face, he didn't blink or flinch, just grinned. "Yeah... I did. Your turn?" he joked. Though really, he was already taking her by the arm and pulling her in the opposite direction from the activity, casually and cheekily wiping his wet mop of hair on her shoulder. She didn't need to put her face in that, and there was no way he was about to repeat the action.

Her question, now THAT was a tricky one. "I... don't know," he admitted honestly. "I mean, there are heaps of things I haven't done yet." He was twelve, not forty, so he still had LOTS to experience before he could start thinking about what he might have missed. "I'd love to travel and discover something though... anything, just, something new." And what about her? "What do you want to do?"

Helena was at her best trying to decide how to elegantly let herself devour the rotten food at the buffet when she felt some new energy come into the room. An energy that felt imposing, unsettling. She wasn't the only one who noticed. The student's were feeling and reacting too it too. Unstettled Helena floated over to Sir Nicholas and The Friar whispering "Do you feel the new energy too?" Had it been wrong of them to open the room for Professor Flamsteed's party?

The party don't start till I walk in... or it did. Hmm. Well, she was forever late. AJ was usually not on time much to begin with, but this was bad even for her. Oh well. She was here now and looking fabulous in her homemade batman jet pack costume. Yeah, that's right. Not only was she all astronomy, but she put her own personal touch to it by decking it out in true batman style. Best costume ever.

Most of the girls were dressed all pretty and lady like, but not her. She did have her hair down, and that had to count for something. Not that she was TRYING or anything.

Whew, there were lots of people here, and they all got smiles. Something caught her attention though and she made her way over to the board that held instructions. Cool. She wanted in on that action. AJ wanted to have the biggest pumpkin ever. "I hope we get to keep them." She said to no one in particular.

Pulling out her wand, the lion got straight to work. "Vitari!" Nooooo. It wasn't working. Didn't her wand know this was a party, and she was in no mood to be reminded that her spell work was crappy? Come onnnnn. There was food to be eaten.

Even as Hady raised a hand to wipe the hair out of his face, he didn't blink or flinch, just grinned. "Yeah... I did. Your turn?" he joked. Though really, he was already taking her by the arm and pulling her in the opposite direction from the activity, casually and cheekily wiping his wet mop of hair on her shoulder. She didn't need to put her face in that, and there was no way he was about to repeat the action.

Her question, now THAT was a tricky one. "I... don't know," he admitted honestly. "I mean, there are heaps of things I haven't done yet." He was twelve, not forty, so he still had LOTS to experience before he could start thinking about what he might have missed. "I'd love to travel and discover something though... anything, just, something new." And what about her? "What do you want to do?"

At this she had to agree and laugh. Cause carrot were carrots and she was one that liked them.

"Yes. I have a stash." And that was all she'd say on that matter. "Uh yeah, who doesn't?" Hady grinned at him. Some flavors were horrible but that was the whole point. It was all in fun.

The nudge she hadn't been expecting but she figured the whole hip-hop thing wouldn't be expected. Not from a Slytherin. Whoa what?! He wanted to see her dance. "Erm well...uh.." She stammered stupidly for a brief moment before composing herself. "Yeah sure but only under one condition." Ha! She'd get him on this.

The small was still in place as she looked at him all soak and wet. It was funny but then it wasn't. In a way she somewhat felt bad and was about to take her turn just as she had planned but was being pulled away. "Hey wait a second, it's supposed to be my turn. Where are we going?" Why was he leading her away before she got her turn? Other Slytherin's would be dying to see each other soaked. Zeke wasn't a Slytheri though.

Traveling was cool. She wanted to do that someday as well. Though not alone cause that would be boring. "Um... well I haven't thought much on it myself either. Would being completely truthful with someone count?" Probably not but it was worth a shot.

The girl fell on her butt and Peeves started laughing harder. This party was turning out to be a bit more fun. Hearing the words of the boy (Zeke) and girl (Lux) he stuck his tongue out at them.

Seeing another student (Kace) talking to him he floated up a bit higher. That's when he saw it. FOOD! Zooming towards the rotten meal he began to pig out, letting it fly around him as he moved.

You know why this spell was't working for her? It was because she failed to put her name and house on the plant. It was as if she was saying that she didn't believe in the plant or herself. My bad plant. I believe in you. I believe in me. I believe in us. Just to prove that much AJ scribbled down all her info on the flower pot. Matter of fact she did it on two of them because why have only one pumpkin when you could have two?

"Hello Mr. pumpkin plant. My name is AJ. Now I'm going to point this wand at you, and don't you worry cause it's not scary at all, and then you are going to grow big and beautiful for me. Okay?" You got more bees with honey. Or was that flies? It was hard to keep up with her mom's corny lines.

Anywho, she had pumpkins to grow. "Vitari." Okay. She had sweet talked the plant and everything. Now it was just being down right rude, and AJ didn't appreciate it. Maybe Quigley needed to get the plants to write a paper on respect instead of the students. Hmph.

"Vitari." It was like magic. The pumpkin started to grow, and faster than she expected it to. It was HUGE. She was sorry plant, for thinking bad things about you. Next time AJ would try and be more patient.

One to the next plant. Surely it heard all of the lovely things AJ said to the other one because she wasn't going down THAT road again. It wasn't anything personal.

"Vitari." This one was going to be stubborn too, and you know WHAT there was NO more nice AJ. Things were crap in her personal life, her grades were suffering and she was OVER this plant. The lion lifted her foot and kicked the pot plant, not hard enough to break it, but hard enough to let it know that its crap ended here. It was going to grow and it was going to like it. She even did the two finger eye thing for good measure.

Ahem. Now then. "Vitari!" Would you looky there. A pumpkin started to grow. This one wasn't growing nearly as fast and when it was done growing it was a regular sized pumpkin. There was nothing great about. How... disappointing. in my snape voice

Happy something else as well, but no one seemed to have taken notice. Not even Professor Flamsteed. Still, he returned a ghostly smile to the Hufflepuff maiden and bowed at the waist. "I am quite well, I suppose," he replied. No one remembered what else today was?

Leaving the Gryffindor Head of House to his pumpkin seeds, Sir Nicholas floated about the room with every intention of ending up at the rotten food table. Before he could arrive there, however, he felt something....peculiar.

Or perhaps the better word was inviting?

If only ghosts could blush.

"I do, indeed," he replied after a few gawking moments. "Does it unsettle you, milady?" Her tone of voice implied as much, but he could not bring himself to share in such anxiety. He found this new energy quite rejuvenating and, yes, inviting.
