Welcome to The Room of Serenity. Professor Morgan feels that the best way to appreciate and really practice the arts of Divination is to clear the mind of all other thoughts and be in a place that opens up your sense. She has decorated in her favorite warm purples, light blues, and lavender scents. You will also hear relaxing, but stimulating to the mind instrumental music playing quietly.
The room is set up with round tables to work alone or with a small group, but there are no chairs. These tables are low enough to sit comfortably on the fluffy pillows. On the back shelves you will find any divination material you may need from stones, tarot cards, crystal balls, just to name a few items. You can also find posters and models of the hand for Palmistry as well as many astrology posters. In the front there are cupboards with tea cups, saucers, leaves, and kettles.
This room is for SNAC meetings and projects, but it is open to all students to come in to study or practice Divination. Just please be respectful and follow all classroom rules.
OOC: This room is for students and staff to RP. Please follow all classroom and SS rules. Just because Professor Morgan is not in the room doesn’t mean she won’t hear you.
"I am out now and I'm hoping your professor will find a nice place for me, maybe the sixth floor again. I so enjoyed that corridor." He just wanted to be hung again to watch the students. It was always quiet fun.
Listening as he spoke, even Edgar as suspicious of this subject as he was couldn't look over the fact the boy had just described him pretty well. "I have had enemies in my past Mr. Adi, so it was very important to invent my sneakoscope against them, plus the students all they ever wanted was the passageway and they were never afraid to rip my portrait to get to it." Though doing that made it impossible to open the secret passage. "But all in all I'd say you nailed it pretty good." Good job fellow Hufflepuff on knowing who he was based on an eye color.
“I’ll ask her also,’’ Adi told Edgar cheerfully. Professor Cassie was nice and he knew she would do the best she could. Speaking of the woman, where was she? He took a quick sip of his ho chocolate as he scanned the room. There she was! “Excuse me, Professor. Could Mr Edgar’s portrait h ere go back to being hung on the sixth floor corridor? He doesn’t like being in storage.’’ Who would be?
Ah. Enemies. Adi couldn’t imagine having those. He could deal with persons disliking or hating him but having enemies? There was enough violence and revenge seeking in the world as it is. “That’s bad about the students ripping at your portrait but something good did come out of having enemies since you were able to invent the sneakoscope.” This boy and finding the bright side of dull situations… he supposed it was a good trait of his. “If you get hung somewhere around the school, I’ll come visit you and you can tell me more about your life.’’ Adi was very sure this meeting would be ending soon.
Feeling mighty pleased he had been able to hit the nail on the head in terms of speculating on Edgar’s life, Adi added, “It’s safe to say that there’s another reason why you look at us suspiciously. It’s because of what those past students did to your portrait.’’ So, technically it was his foes during his actual life and the treatment he received by students here as a portrait that made Edgar so suspicious.
He was asking the professor to leave Edgar up. This one was someone he could trust. He was finding that out quickly. Relaxing in his portrait a bit more, he gave the boy a smile. "Thank you." Getting out of storage would be nice. "Yes, but kids will be kids and they wanted to sneak out more then they cared about my portrait." He was all fixed up and the professor even cleaned his frame, so it was fine now. Now the boy was saying he'd come visit, well that was very nice. "My inventions were a great success, so I would say it was a good thing." He was proud of all his inventions even if some didn't get a good name like others.

According to the book blue eyed people tended to be generous, loyal, gentle, forgiving and several other traits. It seemed like it could be right...the brunette lifted her eyes from the book to look towards Greta once more. Gryffindor huh? They were usually very loyal people. "My best friend is in Gryffindor", she replied grinning for a moment.
Not sure what to really ask she focused on Greta's eyes like she was supposed to. They were bright and shinny speaking of happiness or at least that's what Hady got out of it. It seemed right really as Greta was very talkative, happy and excited which made this a lot easier.
She was listening and excited that the girl would go take out her book and read it. "All charms are fun, but my favorite has to be charming brooms to sweep for you. I always hated to clean." Watching as she flipped through her book, Greta wondered what she was finding, "Well I think Slytherin and Gryffindor complement each other well." She had arguments with classmates over this back in her time, but she still stood by that.

Wanting to keep the conversation going, Lux decided to ask a few questions. "What House were you in when you went to Hogwarts? And what was your best subject?" It was interesting talking to portraits and she wanted to learn a lot about them.
She watched the girl eagerly, this was fun! "Oh you are fine, I know what your trying to do. Your professor told us ahead of time." The SNACinators is what the professor called them, which was really interesting. Listening to what Lux had to say she thought a moment, "Well those are very nice things. I would hope that I could be all of them." Or that her actual self was those at one point. "I was a Gryffindor." Seeing her robes she knew Lux was a Hufflepuff, it was fun to meet all the house students.

Divination was strange in that it always gave Toby that weird spine-tingling feeling. He didn't know if it was because of the attention he was given when someone did a reading for him, or because it could be so accurate it was sort of weird (good weird). Either way, it was happening now. He nodded at the portrait, his own eyes wide. Loyal, yeah? That was good. He prided himself on being loyal. Hardships was about right too.
"Yeah..." Toby replied, almost absentmindedly as he thought about it. "... Yeah." Yeah.
Wait. Waaiiiit. He needed to do the reading too, awesome though it was to have the portrait read HIS eyes. But this way it sort of worked as a trade-off.
"And you," he piped up suddenly, stepping just that bit closer to the portrait and peering up at the woman, then at his book, then back again a few times. "Your eyes are saying that..." Uhhh... "That you're truthful, 'cause of the brown. But they're also kinda hazel, which means you're sincere... which both go together pretty well. And you're intelligent too, I can tell-" mainly because of the conclusions about Toby she'd come to "-and friendly too." Based on the evidence.
Whether any of this registered to the woman, Toby didn't know. But Professor Morgan might have heard him, at least. And it was good to have the practice, even if no-onehad heard. He would have liked to go into more detail about the eyes, like... the size. But the woman in the portrait wore glasses that made her eyes look massive anyway (which was how he could see them so well), so he couldn't be certain.
Sybill watched the boy some more. Her round glasses slipped to the edge of her nose again. He seemed distracted by what she said, "Did I say something wrong my boy?" She didn't think she did, but maybe something about it upset him. Then he started on her eyes, listening her smile growing hearing his words. "Very good, I think you have the gift. YOu have the talent that will get you very far in divination." She was truly sure wit this one.

"Thanks," he said, still smiling away. "And don't worry, you said nothing wrong. The opposite in fact." Yeah. She'd been quite correct. And... Merlin, what time was it now? Toby predicted (oh ho ho) that they'd been finishing up very soon. He addressed the portrait again. "Sorry, but... what's your name?" Whether or not he had the gift, this was something he was pretty sure he couldn't divine. Maybe once he knew it he'd go look her up in the library, just for something to do.

Cassie had been walking around watching and listening. So many fun things to learn about portraits. She always enjoyed her little chats with them. Always a good time. When she heard the question from Adi her green eyes turned on them, "I don't think that would be a problem. I will talk to the caretaker and see where we can put him. Maybe we could figure out his old spot and put him back there." She wasn't sure why he was moved in the first place, but when new portraits came it was probably good to switch them out.
Looking at the time and hearing her stomach growl, she realized how late it had gotten. No need to miss lunch, "Okay my lovely SNACinators. It seems are time as come to an end. I hope this meeting enlightened you in ways to learn about someones personality and past as well as putting the pieces of the puzzle together for possible future. The always say history repeats itself, so why not find out exactly what that history could be from a portrait that was around in the past."
Giving a few more snaps she looked towards the snack table, "Make sure you come and get a few more cookies or brownies as well. No need to let them go to waste." though she'd take them to her office or any visitors is needed.
Hey all! Sorry I didn't post last night, I fell asleep on the couch super early. That is the end of the meeting, but since this isn't a lesson and this room stays open to play feel free to chat with the portraits for as long as you want

She laughed quietly nodding in agreement. "That would be a rather useful charm I think." Cleaning was alright sometimes depending on what it was you were cleaning. Though there was always something better to do.
"So do I. I don't see why some think they shouldn't get along." Hady responded with a shrug. People should be able to be friends with whomever they choose. Glancing from the book to Greta again she smiled. "It says here in the book that people with blue eyes tend to have these traits... forthrightness, gentleness, generosity, loyalty, modesty, and forgiveness. What do you think about that?"
As Hady was talking she heard Professor Morgan announcing that the meeting was over. She smiled slightly closing her book but didn't leave from in front of the portrait yet. She was still interested in hearing what Greta had to say.

Adi smiled broadly at the woman. “Thanks, Professor!’’ Wasn’t she just awesome? He turned back to Edgar. “There you go, Mr Edgar. Hopefully you’ll get out of storage if not your old spot back.’’ It felt great to help someone today even if it was an occupant of a portrait. Also, Edgar seemed to be warming up to him. " You’re very welcome." But it was time to be going? Already? Time really did zoom by when you’re having fun. As for cookies and brownies, Adi thought he had enough. No need to go get all greedy. Hehe.
"It’s a great thing. Did you ever have any more ideas of stuff you wanted to invent? Or did you ever start working on inventions that you never got to complete?” The latter would be unfortunate but if Edgar had any other inventions even if they were not so popular, Adi would be all interested to hear about them.
And as for leaving since the meeting was over, he decided he would stick around just a little longer. Mr Edgar was so much interesting.

She was glad she didn't offend the boy, his eyes showed so many things, so many deep things. Sybill liked talking to this one. He was very interesting as well as kind. "Oh my dearest boy, I am being rude. My name is Sybill Trelawney. I was the divination professor here at Hogwarts for many years." Her time at Hogwarts was very important to her and this tower was just home even as just a portrait. Hearing the Professor she looked at the boy, was their time up already? It seemed to go way too quickly.

"It is! It's a wonderful charm. Especially when you had dorm mates that didn't like to clean." Her friends were wonderful, but they had been messy. It was a good charm to know. The professor saying the meeting was over, wasn't something Greta was ready for. She would be put back in the corridor she had left, but she liked having students talk to her. "Exactly! All houses can get along just fine if they want to." So Slytherin and Gryffindor were just as well being friends. "Those traits sound very nice to have. I think this stuff could be right." This stuff meaning the Divination subject. She liked it, but wasn't fully believing it either.

Wonderful, just wonderful. Edgar let a smile cross his portrait face. "Thank you Professor and thank you again Adi, this will be a great move to get out of that dusty closet." He really didn't like the dust. "I had many ideas, but many that failed." He scratched his head a moment, "There should be a journal of my plans and ideas floating around somewhere still. It would have been in my vault when I passed." Though he wasn't sure who would have ended up with it so many years later. "I tried to invent many magical security items for a home." He had his reason for doing such things, but he did succeed on a few.
Great! Nick was up for some music. “Coming right up!’’ Adi jumped to his feet to scurry off to the wall indicated by the portrait. Whipping out his hippogriff feathered core wand, he touched it to the wall and almost immediately soft instrumental music, the kind he had ever so often heard in this room and during some lessons, began to play. “Better, Nick?’’ Because Adi sure was feeling more focused. And his determination was there too. He wouldn’t be letting anything get the best of him today.
And so he was still gazing, totally focused and not letting any thought enter his mind. This was sort of new… the cleared mind since he was constantly being plagued by thoughts no matter how hard he tried. He was still being plagued by them right now but he seemed to be having an easier time keeping them away. Must be because of the portrait lady’s encouragement.
Adi seemed to be focusing on the crystal ball for what seemed like an eternity when he became aware of a shadowy figure in the crystal. His eyes immediately widened in shock and he moved his face an inch or so closer. Yes, it was a shadow, all fuzzy so he couldn’t exactly make out what it was. He blinked and it was gone. But he knew he hadn’t imagined it! The fifth year quickly checked behind if to see if there was a possibility there was an object reflecting but there was none.
He looked up at Nick excitedly to tell him this development but the other boy seemed to be focused on what he was doing.
Soothing music, just like the kind they had in class. Frankly, Nick was already having difficulty concentrating, and he'd barely started trying yet. He was anything but hopeful. Needless to say, it came as a surprise to him when the soothing music seemed to help. "Yeah, I think maybe that'll help." he nodded nervously up at Adi. It wasn't as if he was doing very well already, so a little music couldn't hurt, right?
Concentrating. Concentrating.. Concentrating...
Why did divination have to be so hard? Sometimes, Nick really didn't feel like it was fair for something to be on the curriculum if it required the student to have some 'gift' that apparently not everybody had. It was moments like these when Nick could really get upset. Sometimes he really felt like he was never good eno- Wait, what was that? Was that a shadow?
Distracted by his thoughts - the ones he had been supposed to clear his mind of - Nick hadn't been focusing on the crystal ball at all. He'd just been sort of zoned out, looking at nothing in particular, lost in his thoughts. The world had been out of focus, de-saturated and quiet for a few moments, and in a single one of those moments, he'd seen a shadowy shape flicker inside the crystal ball. At least, that's what he thought it was.
He focused on the crystal to try to make out clearly what he was seeing, but as soon as his eyes focused, it vanished. As the edges of the crystal ball sharpened, the shape became more and more blurry, eventually becoming part of the crystal ball's outline, as if that's all it had ever been. Was is some sort of illusion? Wishful thinking? Despite his obvious excitement which he tried to hide, he'd noticed Adi look up from his crystal with an excited look on his face.

The young brunette held back a quiet laugh at that comment. Lucky for her being a Slytherin her dorm mates were rather clean, tidy and well kept as well as somewhat quiet. It was basically an all around win there. "I bet it comes in handy when there's lots to be done at once as well." Like maybe if you were throwing a party or something and had to have things clean or even to clean up afterwards. It'd totally be useful then.
"I feel the same way. I like have friends in all the houses because sometimes we can easily compliment each other in our lessons." It was true. Having friends in other houses that did well in certain lessons could be helpful. "If you don't mind maybe we can continue talking or I could visit you again sometime after I've read your book? All I'd need to know is where you're kept in the castle." Hady requested softly with a moments thought. If she knew where exactly Greta was kept then she could visit her anytime.

An excited Adi kept looking at Nick, all set to blurt out his news but the other boy was REALLY concentrating on his task. There was no way the fifth year could concentrate now that he had seen the shadow in the crystal ball. His concentration had gone out of the window and gone soaring among the clouds. He did keep glancing back to the ball, though as if hoping to see the shadow again. “Or an actual image,’’ he thought.
Adi looked back up at Nick to find him already in the process of asking a question. “I DID!’’ Woops. He hadn’t meant to shout. Lowering his voice, he continued. “Yep, but it was a shadow like so I couldn’t tell exactly what it was.’’ WOOT! This was progress!
“What about you?” Did Nick have any luck?

“You’re very much welcome,’’ Adi said happily again. Helping out always felt so great and rewarding. “I hope you get a spot where there would be lots of students visiting and that they’re a careful bunch.’’ Or maybe the bad stuff only happened when a portrait was guarding a passageway.
Back to the inventions. “That’s understandable. Oh well, at least there’s the Sneakoscope that’s been super useful to everyone at some point in time.'' And a journal with all those ideas! Adi wished he could get his Hufflepuff hands on that! Just to read, of course. Not like he was going to steal Edgar’s ideas. “I think you journal would make an excellent read, Mr Edgar.” The boy looked at his watch.
“I must be going. Thanks for taking the time to speak with me. I’ll find out where your portrait is put and come visit you someday.’’ Adi finished up his hot chocolate before saying a cheery good bye to Professor Cassie. That was one excellent meeting.

"It is!" Greta said with a chuckle, "It's why it was always my favorite. Takes less time and then you could go do other things. Or you could do other things while it was cleaning for you." Very important charms to learn.
It was time to end already and as much as Greta was enjoying herself she didn't want the young lady to be late for any of her other lessons. "You can find me easily. I'm in the Entrance Hall near the staircase. I've been there for years." Not that many noticed her now that her passage was closed. "I would love if you visit me. Bring the book along we can discuss it." She smiled and waved towards Hady, "Thank you for talking to me today. This was fun."

“You’re very much welcome,’’ Adi said happily again. Helping out always felt so great and rewarding. “I hope you get a spot where there would be lots of students visiting and that they’re a careful bunch.’’ Or maybe the bad stuff only happened when a portrait was guarding a passageway.
Back to the inventions. “That’s understandable. Oh well, at least there’s the Sneakoscope that’s been super useful to everyone at some point in time.'' And a journal with all those ideas! Adi wished he could get his Hufflepuff hands on that! Just to read, of course. Not like he was going to steal Edgar’s ideas. “I think you journal would make an excellent read, Mr Edgar.” The boy looked at his watch.
“I must be going. Thanks for taking the time to speak with me. I’ll find out where your portrait is put and come visit you someday.’’ Adi finished up his hot chocolate before saying a cheery good bye to Professor Cassie. That was one excellent meeting.
Edgar was truly smiling now, this boy had shown his Hufflepuff colors and was a true one at that. "Yes, I think it will be nice to get out and mingle with students again. It's been too long. Oh, yes I hope they are careful too, but if I'm not guarding a passageway then they probably will be." letting out a chuckle, he'd rather just speak with students not guard anymore.
His pride grew as the boy spoke, "Yes it probably would be. I wish I knew where to tell you it was located, you seem trust worthy enough, but I'm afraid I don't have a clue." Then the time had come for goodbyes, well he was aware students were busy, "It was nice to meet you Adi and I will look forward to the visit. Have a good day." Edgar's was looking up since he knew he wasn't going into a closet again.

Oh dear me Sybill jumped at the noise and looked around confused until she remembered the boys were in the room. Did she zone out in a trans, was she speaking of futures to come? She just stood in her portrait quietly watching until she realized what was going on. "Oh dear boy I knew you had the gift. Wonderful news." Pushing up her glasses she waited to hear what it was that he saw.

It was time to end already and as much as Greta was enjoying herself she didn't want the young lady to be late for any of her other lessons. "You can find me easily. I'm in the Entrance Hall near the staircase. I've been there for years." Not that many noticed her now that her passage was closed. "I would love if you visit me. Bring the book along we can discuss it." She smiled and waved towards Hady, "Thank you for talking to me today. This was fun."
Charms was something Hady had a knack for. She was able to learn them rather quickly so she would easily learn one like that. It was all the little things that added up for her. "When it makes things easier I find it to be a good thing." She agreed.
Oh! Of course Hady knew exactly where that was but sometimes well in her haste to get places she could overlook things. Now though since she knew that's where Greta would be she'd made a point of stopping and at least saying hello whenever she could. "I certainly will Greta! Thank you for speaking with me, I think I'll head to the library now and see if I can find that book." She smiled waving her hand as she returned the textbook to the table at the back of the room and gathered her things before heading out. Library first and then to learn some new charms!
Kace saw on the noticeboard there was divination homework. He felt really bad he couldn't get into the whole lesson. His mind just wasn't into it. He would do better on the homework of course. He asked Lux to help him out because he was the best at all the subjects. I mean she was just the nerd he loved. She did well in all of her classes and the professor's loved her plus she was great at explaining things too.
He asked her to meet him here because it seemed like a logical place to meet right? He got his notebook ready and such and waited for his fellow puff. He wondered how this homework assignment was going to play out.

Hoping that she wasn't late, Lux made her way to the Room of Serenity. This place was always fun besides the time when stupid Peeves had decided to ruin her Valentines Day date. Why they let the poltergeist stay at Hogwarts was beyond her because he had been around long before Harry Potter even.
Spotting her friend waiting, she smiled and waved to him. "Hey there! I am glad to do this homework with you." It had been a while since they worked on an assignment together and he was always someone who she had fun working with. "So let's have some tea!"

Aaahh so this homework entailed some drinking tea. Well he was down for that. He nodded and grabbed the tea cup and began to fill it with some apple spice tea. Hmmm the smell alone made him feel just at home. He waited for the water to cool down before sipping. He didn't wanna burn his tongue. "You are welcome Lux. I love doing homework with you too." he nodded. "Plus we hardly hang out anymore so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity." he shrugged.
He noticed she brought cookies and he began to snack on those. "Look at you bringing my favorite cookies.." he grinned. Now down to business. "Now what do we have to do for the homework?" he asked his knowledgeable cucumber. "I mean the reason I ask if because I dozed off in the lesson.." he grinned sheepishly.

Okay so they were mapping the Divination tower. No problem, she walked down the corridor until she got to the room. "If you want to spread out and do the classroom, my office, and in here go ahead." Did anyone other then Adi come with her? If not they could easily split up and do the mapping.
She opened the Room of Serenity door and looked around. Everything seemed to be where it always was. "Now, what are we looking for when mapping?" Since she hadn't done the other floors, she wasn't fully sure it was certain things or just everything. Hmm, getting out her notebook she looked around and started jotting things down. Was Sybill awake, maybe she could tell them some interesting things to look for.

Lux was happy that Kace understood why she didn't like hanging out when Emmy was around, but she didn't really want to talk about this now - or ever really. Giving her friend a smile, she was glad when the conversation moved on to something she actually wanted to talk about.
Tasseomancy was easy, and she nodded when he told her that she could go first. "Sounds good to me!" Happily she picked up his cup so that she could get a good look at it. Unfortunately it was not proving to be an easy cup to read, however, as the dregs at the bottom looked as if they could be anything. "I'm starting to feel like the person who mistook a sun for a skull," she said with a laugh as she recalled one of the stories that had been told during the Divination/History of Magic lesson. She wondered if all of those events were real or old stories told to make a point and teach others. Maybe she could ask Professor Cassie later though either way they had been interesting. The whole subject was interesting to her and she did like observing cats to make predictions and drinking tea.
Biting her lip she knew that she would work it out in the end and give Kace his reading.

Adi followed Professor Cassie to the Room of Serenity. He had spent quite a while in here this year. But that made sense, yeah? OWLs and all. At least this time around he was here for a different reason. "I don't mind which ever, Professor but wouldn't you rather map your office?'' Wouldn't she find it weird if a student went poking around her space?
"Anything that looks like it could have a secret passage behind it.'' It was sort of true, wasn't it? At least in Adi's opinion from his mapping experiences thus far. The Tapestry had a passage behind it which lead to the Puff Common Room barrels. "We just sketch out the basic layout of the rooms.'' Simple, right? Except when you had terrible artistic abilities. Book in his right hand and pencil in his left, the fifth year scooted off to another side of the Serenity room to begin his sketching.

Benny had opted to follow Adi and Professor Morgan for lack of a better option. The Room of Serenity was a fine place to map, even if he didn't spend all that much time in there. At least as much time as his bestie beside him did in various meetings and happenings. He had finished his mapping leading to the room before stepping inside with the two other people, hearing the woman's question and debating an answer.
Adi's answers certainly made sense. especially given all that had happened during the term and in previous meetings. "Anything of interest to both us and who might follow after us," he added as he took in the basic layout and design of the room to get the foundation of what they would be mapping.

Cassie made her way fully into the room and looked around. "Oh it doesn't matter." She didn't mind if a student wanted to map out her office, she had nothing to hide in there. It really was just books, tea, cats, and some clothes. Nothing really interesting that was for sure. Well maybe her Quibblers were interesting, but who wouldn't want the latest gossip.
Turning fully to Benny and Adi she beamed at them, "Well then we can get to work here first." Should be simple enough the room wasn't all that big and it mostly just had Divination things in it.
Walking around she lifted up the portraits to look behind them and then behind the shelves. "I'm not sure there are any passages in this room." She would have thought she would have come in contact with one after three years here. Goodness three years already, where had time gone.

She didn't mind it? In that case... "Alrightey, Professor. I... we would be happy to help you map there as well.'' We meaning him and his guys bestie, of course. Nodding in agreement with the woman that they should start here, he continued on with his sketching, drawing the back shelves and just for the fun of it, he did quick little drawing of the crystal balls, tarot card and the other stuff on those shelves.
"Maybe, maybe not but wouldn't it be soooo cool if there was one, Professor?'' The thought of another passage made Adi hoped they did find one around the Divination classroom/ Room of Serenity. Exploring them was always so much fun.
"I think I've got the back and the shelves here covered,'' the Puff muttered then turned in another direction to continue his sketching.

They got to work here first. Fine by him, as was the fact that they were all on their lonesome in this portion of the cartographer's club group. Him and Adi working together with Professor Morgan along with them. Plenty to keep them busy as they sketched and explored. The fifth year Gryffindor headed in the direction opposite his best friend and started began drawing the room and its decor near the front of the room.
There may not be a secret passage from this room...and Benny wasn't sure what the woman's feelings were on the matter. But to him, it certainly added an excitement to the matter of mapping everything out. Learning about something others previously either hadn't known about or had forgotten.
