The beautiful serenity of the Black Lake has been admired for years and years, not to mention being one of Hogwarts' top hang out spots! The water stretches for miles and is home to an array of different sea creatures, and though most will not bother you, it is advised for students to not swim further than the in-water signs suggest.

The owl and the toad had been the ones who were first attracted to each other in some odd way.
Mean Hippogriff huh?
Okay the stubborness of his companion was getting frustrating and he knew he had to do something. Benny tilted his head as if watching Adi carefully as he slipped his wand from his pocket. Hopefully without his friend's notice. Then with a quiet anteoculatia, he tried out the spell his bestie tended to like to use during duels. "Well now you're a goofy reindeer like Angel and I."
What about their two aimal companions? Adi shrugged. "Coincidence?" he suggested though he figured that might not be true. Gus and Conrad had struck up a friendship just as Adi and Benny had, different as both pairs of friends were. Then the Hufflepuff was slowly shaking his head. "Who would have thought an owl and a toad could be such good friends? You would have thought that Conrad would have gobbled up Gus the moment they met.'' Despite saying that horrible thing that came to him, he couldn't help but smile a teeny but. He was smiling because he could still see the two animals meeting clearly as though it happened yesterday.
The fifth year continued doodling but even though he wasn't paying attention to it, he had written AJ's name in the sand. Unknown to him, his best friend was reaching for his wand... and it wasn't until he saw a flash of red light and felt something weird going on with his hair that he looked up. "What did you do?" he demanded as he stretched his hand up to his head. Antlers! He had antlers made from his own hair!
The good thing about Benny casting that spell on him? Adi started laughing.
"Yeah, that was all that needed to be said, really," Caleb said with a shrug. Ah well, if he kept dwelling on that whole fiasco, he could never focus on moving forward and regaining all those points that had been lost. "No worries though, I'm just going to have work extra hard to make up for my housemate's stupidity," he said with a joking grin.
Well, he wanted to appear he was joking. He wasn't though. Hehe.
"Everyone keeps saying that...but I don't remember him as Hook. That must have been when I was, um...afflicted as well," he said awkwardly. He still couldn't get over the fact that he was, apparently, Rumpelstiltskin for a whole month. It was creepy and weird and he was seriously glad he hadn't actually murdered anyone.
What would he be paid? Hmmmm...he grinned, the topic getting back to more playful matters, and tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Well certainly for no less than 1000 galleons. And another crup puppy," he explained with a grin.
Puck leaned her head on her shoulder as he spoke, she couldn’t help but smirk back at him when he gave the joking grin. “Oh c’mon I hardly know you and I’m pretty sure I know you aren’t kidding there…but I get it” she laughed. “I mean I’ve not been here that long? A year? And it seems like a tradition you lose a whole ton of points and then in the end it’s a full on sprint to the finish with the houses always seeming to be neck-and-neck with each other” she grinned as she ran her fingers over the grass.
She dropped her gaze for a moment and glanced at the ground still laughing as he said he didn’t remember the class. “I…you might have been, honestly I kind of wish that I had been so you know I wouldn’t remember the class” she grinned at him and shifted turning herself around so she was able to look out at the lake.
Aww that was cute, the grin and the thoughtful chin tapping. Puck chuckled and immediately gave him an overly dramatic pout. “What? That is an insane amount Newell!!” Puck laughed, “I mean it might be easier asking someone for 8,000 pounds” she laughed and gave him a playful nudge. “Too bad because I don’t have anything like that one me or at school crup puppies are hard to come by” she winked and grinned.
“I mean…if you go that lofty of a price for jumping off a building what would you do if you were dared you to kiss someone?” She asked a playful grin on her face.

Coincidence?
Okay maybe it could be that that connected them all. But still, if they stayed apart from one another it still effected their familiars. It wasn't as if they could get together much on their own, even if Conrad was a bit more mobile with his flight that Gus was hopping along the ways of the castle and grounds. "True...but Conrad isn't into eating amphibians anyway." If the owl chose to hunt it was more small furry creatures that Benny believed the creature preferred. Not that had really explained why the two animals were as close as they were.
Benny didn't notice the sand drawings anymore than Adi appeared to notice what he himself was doing or what he might be intending to do. For the spell landed upon his friend unhindered and it wasn't until it went to work that the Hufflepuff reacted to the changes coming down upon him. The fifth year frowns as he was questioned, the tone his companion used didn't sound so good and he almost wondered if he had made a big mistake.
That is until Adi started to laugh.
"Now that is the Adi I prefer..." he mused, allowing his frown to turn upside down into a smile.

Adi hadn't known that Conrad didn't hunt amphibians. "I wonder if that happened after he met Guster." It certainly would explain why the toad wasn't afraid of the owl... and why Gus hung out in the owlery so much. Conrad probably protected Gus from the other owls there. "Hey, I wonder if Conrad can make Gus croak the alphabet.'' It had been three long years since Adi owned that toad but it was yet to do what the dude at the adoption said it would. Somehow he didn't think the dude had been lying... maybe Gus was being shy about it.
Adi could see the slight worry that crossed Benny's face with his question. He didn't mean to make it sound baaad so that he'd worry the bestie. But his laughter seemed to make those thoughts fade away from the Lion's head. The Puffer threw an arm around the other boy's shoulder. "Well, you brought him back." Little did he know that this would be Benny's job for the next few days.

"Dating?" he echoed, pulling a face. "Sorry, but girls are kinda... well.. it's just... it's... it's gross looking." The hand holding and hugs he could live with, and girls WERE pretty and smelled nice - or some of them at least. But all the kissing and stuff he'd seen others do... was NOT for him. Nope. He was happy flying solo.
The only thing to wipe the 'icky' look from his face, was knowing that Lux liked his idea of writing about Hogwarts. It WAS the best idea. He could tell Gavin and Emily about all the sensible and class related stuff, and Ashley about all the fun stuff and before he knew it, she'd be here... right? Surely! He did frown a touch at Lux's additional comment. "If anything it's great, cause surviving Hogwarts will prepare us for surviving any other disaster that magic attracts..." duuuuhhhh. Magic was like that. It was a vacuum of crazy and unpredictable stuff. KA-BOOOM... you're dead, or possessed, or petrified or missing, or something. Just cross your fingers and toes you don't die here like the plant people he'd heard about.
He continued to wade and kick and enjoy the water, chancing glances between the Lux and the ripples in case he could spot something in the water that might not really belong there. Like a merperson, or kelpie, were there kelpie's here? He paused on her face when she offered her assistance, that was nice. "Thanks, if I don't make it till Christmas I might take you up on the offer." He could do with all the help he could get. Now he was smiling though. The hat was wrong with her Pufferness, but he saw kindness and smartness and all the things of all the houses that made her the multi-purpose Puffer... shame she couldn't see that herself. But you raised a neat idea. Proving the Hat wrong? ... "How do I do that?" Or was that the obvious? Get good marks? Because if so, then no, he'd fail dismally.
Was it bad that she wanted to laugh at the face he pulled at the mention of dating? Because Lux was having a hard time keeping a straight face. Zeke was reminding her so much of herself at that age. A few months at Hogwarts and she had kissed her first boy. Shame it hadn't been her love, but life sucked sometimes. "Dating is gross looking? Or kissing?" Or was he referring to both? Lux thought that kissing was AMAZING, and was sure that he would come to that realization at some point as well.
His next comment made her forget all about kissing for the moment. It certainly was a different way of looking at things. "Spoken like a true Gryffindor." A compliment really seeing how highly she regarded the House. "I just hope no one else dies. Bay and Mr. Kitridge were bad enough..." Best not to dwell on that, though she knew that there HAD been deaths in the past; mostly Hufflepuffs if the stories were true. Seemed that her House was cursed and she could still remember when Zander had been sure that she would die.
Hehe, it was fun splashing around and maybe they could call the Giant Squid again to have another chat. She hadn't talked to him since she was a Second Year, and that had been their only conversation. "That's good to hear, though I'm sure you will do fine." It took a little while to get the hang of things sometimes, and he was still so young. "Well, there are different kinds of intelligence. And you are smart. Jut try your best and remember that it's only a hat." Nod.
Well it was just an option. She could give it to anyone really. Why think small. Though if she was just go going to give it to other students. It was alright with Dante. "Alright, it is just an option. For the future or whenever" Maybe she had extra candy after this is all done. Who knows. "So the obvious choices would be the Prefects right?"
Some did not seem so bright to Dante.
Everything. Well that is mysterious. Should he just go at random or look through the candy bag. Decisions, Decisions.
"Just pick out a random one and i will eat it"
For the future. Yeah. Maayyyyybe. It was definitely not a high priority right now.
PREFECTS!
Dante WAS clever after all. Heh. She hadnt been wrong about him then. PHEW. So she didn't need to find a new best friend then. That was a relief. "YES!!!" OF COURSE. Why hadn't she thought of that? Prefects. Of course. "D'you know what they like?"
A random one? Hmm. That was a tough decision.
Maggie went through her bag, picking out random candies and taking a closer look at them. Hmmmmmm. "This one!" She finally pulled out the 'right' one and handed it to him. It was a Chocolate Cauldron. It looked cute okay?

Benny wasn't aware if that had been a preference before or after the two friends had met there on the train. So he simply shrugged in reaction to Adi's wondering on the matter himself. As for the croaking of the alphabet, there was another uncertainty. "Maybe sometime he'll manage it," the fifth year remarked, figuring if anyone or anything could get the toad to do that it was the owl.
At the familiar feel of Adi's arm around his own shoulder, Benny relaxed into the feeling that things were certainly better. "Good..." he said as Adi said the old Adi was back. "Now it has to stay that way...or else," the Gryffindor mused as he slipped his own arm under the Hufflepuff's and moved to help his friend up. He knew well himself that the antlers certainly threw your balance for a loop.

"Maybeeee. Does he have any idea how long I've been waiting for him to do that?" Hmph. Never the less, Adi still loved his toady. Now though, he raised an eyebrow at Benny. "You're threatening me? Are you going to make me into a complete reindeer?" Because that would be so AWESOME!
Feeling the pressure on his arm, Adi allowed himself to be pulled to his feet. He figured they'd be going back to the Castle where hours of studying awaited him. Bleh. Probably Benny would like to study with him... if he didn't have plans with Angel. "I miss the days when I didn't have to share you,'' he mumbled. But things changed so he'd just have to deal with it.

Well he knew what a couple where like, but not all of them. Like the Slytherin guy one from last year, Ethan. He was cool. But he did not know the new one. And the puffs where nice like they normally are. If it were not for that rumor. Maybe Dante would try and hang out with them.
Maybe.
"Well the Puff ones are nice like you would expect of Puffs. Don't know the claw ones other than the guy is like a genius or something. I don't know about the Lions ones."
He did not talk about their Prefects. Since we see them more than the others anyway. It was something to do when bored. See how the authority acted and see what you can get away with. Better than starfishing. That was for sure.
Wonder what he will get. Hopefully it was okay tasting. "Thanks" Dante said taking the candy, not looking at the label, opening it and taking bite. "Delicious"

"I doubt it." As much as Benny admired creatures great and small, he didn't think toads had that kind of awareness. But he could be wrong. Gus could totally be playing with his buddy and waiting until just the right moment to spring it on his human. Adi at least didn't think he was playing with his threat. Making him a full reindeer? Now that would be an accomplishment. But alas, one that he wouldn't likely be able to manage...yet.
"Nope...too easy," he mused innocently as the Hufflepuff followed him back up to their feet. No there was other thoughts in mind that were momentarily derailed by his friend's confession. Adi missed spending more time with him. "I...miss that too," he said before slowly moving them both further on the sand.
"It'll take getting used to," Benny advised, having had it done to him twice before. It certainly was a weird effect on you and made it seem more appropriate why reindeer were certainly a creature on all fours. Speaking of all fours, the Gryffindor moved to guide dear Adi into the lake, pushing him playfully in that direction.

Adi was now wondering if he should try to coach his toady out of reciting the alphabet. He hadn't done that in a while. Heh. The Puffer pretended to sulk. "A Hippogriff then?'' he asked. Fingers crossed on that one.
Oh... had he said that loud enough for Benny to hear? He hadn't realised. But on the bright side, the Gryffindor felt the same as he did. Adi was glad to hear that because Benny didn't always admit to the emotional side of stuff. Sometimes Adi felt like he was glad to have Benny as a bestie more than Benny was glad to have him. Anyway... "At least we haven't drifted apart... yet.'' Insecurity loud and clear here.
"Maybe if I had a reindeer body it would be better,'' Adi coaxed Benny. Oh looky. They were at the Lake's edge. Annnnnd he was suddenly pushed O__O Combined with his antlers, he lost his balance and pitched forward into the water
Good thing he had managed to hold his breath or water would have gone down his mouth and nose. So Benny was up for fun, eh? Adi had no problem with that! Sputtering a bit, he swam up to Benny, grabbed his friend around the ankles and pulled him forward. Have fun in the water, Dragon. Hehe.

The lake. It was quite arguably his most favorite place in the entire planet. And by planet he meant Hogwarts. Actually, maybe it was his favorite place in the entire planet too. Even if the months were getting colder and more layers were required to go outside. He loved it either way. Besides, he had to come for a good sit around the lake before it froze over and everyone swarmed to go ice skating. That was probably the worst bit.
But for now, he'd enjoy lying in the grass by his lonesome. Just getting some fresh air, doing something thinking. You know the usual conspiracy theories and stuff. Only kidding though, he wasn't actually coming up with theories yet... Hogwarts mystery of the year hadn't even been revealed yet! There was still time for brainstorming.
Anyways, he was just spread out on the grass, cloud watching. As you did. 'Cause who had time for studying anyways? Maybe afterwards. Maybe.

Who to talk to though? Hmmm.
Vinnie! Who was reading a book.
Obviously she'd much rather talk to him than read a boring book, right?
"'Sup, Vinnie." He grinned, plopping down next to her. "What're you reading?"

The lake was one place Kate hadn't visited yet. Well, she'd rode across the lake in a boat, but that was at nighttime, and she'd been much more focused on her sorting and not the lake. So she decided to walk down there one afternoon when the weather was still nice. October was good for nice weather. It wasn't too hot or too cold, and you could still stay outside a lot. Plus, her birthday was in a few weeks, which meant October was all the more awesome for that reason. She couldn't wait to be twelve! Only one more year, and she'd be a teenager! AWESOME.
Kate reached the lake and just stood there looking out at it, wondered what sort of creatures lived in its depths. This was a pretty place, and she could see herself coming out here often.
Actual fall weather was here and the blonde decided to head out for a stroll. And what better place to go than the lake? So Timmy made her way over there, hugging her sweater around herself tighter. Adding a bit of jump into her steps, Timmy admired the view of the lake in front of her. It was way better than her Mum had described! The real thing was usually better than the photos. Heading for a spot near the edge, Timmy spotted a certain other blonde and decided to stand next to her instead.
"We should totally make this our hangout spot!" Timmy beamed at Kate, giving her a small nudge. Because why not? The lake was a pretty awesome place to be at!

"Sure" He would help. Why not, it sounded like fun and not like he had plans or anything. Other than walking around the castle bothering the portraits some more. They were just so many of them to bother. "You know which house you want to start with?" Or random was totally fine with Dante. Favors would be awesome to have with Prefects. Though what can they really do beside run and tell on you. Well magic but you can dodge that if you are not dumb.
"Yeah, don't think too many people dislike chocolate."
Unless you were allergic or never had it. Shrug. He did not know.

The lake was Sophia's favorite place out of all the places around Hogwarts, despite how crowded it was Sophia still loved it. Sophia spent hours out here sketching or just relaxing until Tyler or some of her fellow puffers come and get her. Sophia loved the lake any time of the year, she would spend hours from sketching the beautiful lake to ice skating on it during the winter months. Although Sophia tried to get out before everyone else did, she knew how popular the lake was, it was one of the most popular places in Hogwarts. Hopefully there be a good spot for her left so she could finish her sketch of the lake.
Making her way towards the lake, Sophia frowned when she seen the lake was pretty crowded. "Dang it! I should have gotten here sooner!"Sophia thought to herself as she walked through the crowd of students who were talking. Saying 'excuse me' as she walked by Sophia seen a place in the grass and smiled. "Perfect!"said Sophia to herself as she headed towards the spot. As she quickly headed towards the spot she tripped over a rock as her bookbag with her sketchbook and supplies went flying through the air.
Wincing in pain, Sophia looked down at her knees and elbows and seen that they were pretty banged up. Seeing her supplies everywhere, she groaned. "Oh man!"said Sophia softly to herself as she gathered her drawings and supplies putting them in her bookbag.

Oh... had he said that loud enough for Benny to hear?
Hehe.
Was that a disappointed Adi?
With hippogriff as a back-up plan. "Sorry...haven't learned that." His transfiguration skills were still improving and he had a way to go before anything of that magnatude was managed by him. One could only hope it was doable then. "And we won't," he remarked giving a pointed look at his bestie. He knew of his friend's insecurity which was unfounded. Adi was one of the most friendly and talented wizards out there.
He might have remarked on the comment about completing the reindeer illusion but he was already too focused and involved in getting Adi into the lake. A sort of punishment for trying to push him away as he had earlier. And a chance to show off his more fun side that didn't get shown all the time. And then the Hufflepuff was in the water, Benny just barely managing to catch himself from following...
...until Adi added his two cents into the mix.
The Gryffindor found himself falling backwards as his feet came out from under him by the other boy's efforts. Splashing to a landing on his behind and hands as he worked to recover from the sudden unexpected movement.

The Gryffindor payed no attention to the voice that was seeming to approach nearby. Was she talking to herself? Eh. He'd say that was strange, but when you went to Hogwarts... Nothing was really strange anymore. Desensitizing. That's really what the Hogwarts experience did to a person. ANYWAYS, he'd ignore the strange conversation that the girl was having with herself because he was just enjoying the lake. Or well, enjoying lying next to the lake and staring up at the sky. It really was nice. Even on a chill November day such as this one. It wasn't cold enough to stay cooped up in the building yet and he needed to use up the last few bearable months outside before any of that happened. It was very important.
And then he heard something fall.... Huh? Old Zander would've maybe opened a single eye and then carried on as if nothing had happened. Not wanting to ruin his nice solitude. But new Prefect Zander knew that he couldn't just do nothing. Sigh. Doing something. That's what this badge really meant. So he opened a single eye and lifted his head to see what had happened and oh-- It was that girl. The one who talked to herself-- still strange by the way. Pushing himself up and out of his laid-down position, the Gryffindor began picking up some of the things that had fallen over to his side. "Uh, here," he gave her a soft understanding smile, 'cause he dropped things all the time. Totally and utterly embarrassing. He knew the feeling, okay?

"Maybe some day them,'' Adi said, now daydreaming of flying off in Hippogriff form. Hey, flying on one was great but actually becoming a Griff? Nothing could beat that! He nodded at Benny's response to what he said before. "I don't think you'd get rid of me that easily, anyway.'' Mhmmm. The Hippogriff would stalk the Dragon wherever he went.
Adi pushed his wet black hair out of his eyes, laughing like a kid at the sight of Benny. "Thought you could escape, did you?" Hehe. "The water's great!'' And with that Adi flicked handfuls of water at the other boy's face and hair. "There! Now you're as soaked as I am.''

Caleb shrugged again. He was all about that shrugging lately...because it sounded a lot better than 'I dunno'. "I never really had reason to pay attention, honestly," he chuckled. "I mean - if we lost points, yeah I was bummed, but as long as I was still doing my homework, I was all good, you know? Typical Slytherin I guess...all about me," he joked with a grin. Now it was really all about the whole house, not just him. If he started playing the game just for himself...he was going to be an awful prefect, and he wanted to do a good job!
Wait, she'd wished she HAD been cursed?! Maybe if she'd been a princess or something...not the Dark One. "It wasn't as fun as it sounded...especially since I was Rumplestiltskin. I can't imagine I was very pleasant..." he muttered. "I'm happy I didn't actually get to do...whatever it was he did. I don't remember. Steal straw?" he asked with a wrinkled brow. He wasn't that up to date on his fairy tales. All he knew was he was the villain in the story.
"What?! A crup puppy is NOT that hard to come by. They were practically giving them away at that adoption event, that's how I got Baldwin a few years ago," Caleb explained with a grin. Well, his dad had gotten him (much to his mother's dismay) but whatever, that was beside the point. But...kisses? Hmmmmm. The conversation had taken a turn Caleb didn't expect and he felt his cheeks blush a bit, but then he remembered himself. He'd actually DONE that before. Sort of. It was a dare with himself as to whether or not he could get Lex to kiss him...and he'd been successful. Hehe...
"Think about what you're asking...you're asking a BOY if he's got a price to kiss someone. The act of kissing someone is usually price enough," he told her with a grin. DUH. Boys were simple creatures. "But jumping off a tower...I could die!"
Caleb liked living, thanks.

She was smirking again, when was she not? “Oh c’mon I don’t know if that’s a Slytherin thing or a life thing,” she chuckled and grinned over to Caleb. “I mean really? If it’s a Slytherin thing then I probably am in the wrong house” she wasn’t even joking as she threw her head back and laughed.
When he brought up the fact that being cursed wasn’t that fun, “yeah but not remembering being locked in a closet sounds like a dream” she chuckled and then frowned when he said he probably wasn’t that pleasant c’mon Rumple wasn’t that bad was he? “What? Didn’t try to steal someone’s first born to be your own?” She asked and smirked. “C’mon he probably was misunderstood and just wanted a kid…not that I really get that,” she muttered the last bit and chuckled.
"I did enjoy the ancient runes class - I just got to sit on a shell and Professor Botros thought he was King Trident...and was convinced I was one of his mermaid daughters," she chuckled and grinned over to him. "Easiest runes class ever really I just wish that the History of Magic classes were that easy" she laughed and rolled her eyes at his Crup comment.
Her smile widened when he brought up that Crups weren’t hard to come by. She chuckled and rolled her eyes. “Oh c’mon that’s was ages ago – I think I would have been a third year then and still living with my aunt,” she flushed slightly as she thought of her name “Titania” it was an awkward family name considering she and her aunt both had names from Shakespeare…awkward.
Oh look he was blushing sort of…not as badly as Zander always did whenever she brought up anything of the sort or well when she brought up Toddles too. Still, Puck couldn’t help but chuckle when she saw it happen. What? Blushing could be really cute and adorable. “Oh really? Well…some people do have prices for such things” she laughed, “or just don’t like someone enough to try it at all” she added with a laugh.
Boys weren’t always simple. Some were complicated. “Oh c’mon jumping out of the tower is probably just as dangerous as Quidditch maybe even less actually because you aren’t soaring around precariously poised on a stick in the sky” she laughed and grinned over to him.

Benny wasn't about to say that Adi changing him into a dragon was a lot more likely then him getting his best friend to be a hippogriff. It wasn't good to tempt the bestie with the idea that he seemed to almost obsess about some times. But it was the truth. "Neither would you." He had learned his mistake with not going after the other boy when Adi had been mean about him and Angel at the Whomping Willow.
So maybe he had tried to get Adi in the water without following himself. It was a pipe dream in all reality. "So close..." he mused before raising his hands up to vainly attempt to block the water being splashed his way. It was a few splashes before the Gryffindor started to return the favor, getting his friend back for every shot the Hufflepuff took at him.
It was probably late in the year to be collecting dandelions. Yeah, she had slacked but that was only because she had different priorities...unfortunately. Glancing down at the badge pinned on her coat, Beverly scoffed at it, rolling her eyes as if it could react. It has come to irritate her at times because of reasons.
And she wasn't having it today.
It was the start of the weekend which meant no lessons and, hopefully, some free time. Free time she was claiming now before anyone called her to deal with something. So, unpinning the momentarily offending badge, Beverly tucked it into her pocket. It was as if she could breath again.
Letting her shoulders relaxed, the Slytherin sauntered down the grounds toward the lake and began her search for dandelions, starting by a boulder near a tree.

Here dandelions...
People watching outside was much more interesting than doing so indoors. Outside there was so much to see, and the scenery, much more beautiful than inside, no matter how lovely a place could be within the walls. There was more to look at outside, and much more movement that could be curious to watch. So outside it was to where Finn headed.
He found a particularly empty spot to sit down on the lake's grass as he looked about. Trying to see what, or rather, who, he could find and watch. Just for some random entertainment. But, as he looked around, his eyes, stationary on one piece of the grounds or something else, were brought to something he recognized. He had to squint in order to make sure that what he was looking at was truly what he was seeing. It would be embarrassing to call out someone's name and it not being them.
Nearly certain that was the person Finn got up and jogged over to a rock that was close to a tree where he'd seen the person. "Bev-Beverly? H-hi." He said, standing a safe distance from her.
