The beautiful serenity of the Black Lake has been admired for years and years, not to mention being one of Hogwarts' top hang out spots! The water stretches for miles and is home to an array of different sea creatures, and though most will not bother you, it is advised for students to not swim further than the in-water signs suggest.

A change of subject was probably a good thing and she was glad to talk about the lake. "Yeah there's the giant squid and mer-people in the lake." Not that they showed themselves often but yeah. They were there.

A fun thing to do? There was tons depending on what the girl liked really. "Uh yeah lots but it varies on what you like."

"Hmm, I don't like it to be lost, even now if i can find some unexpected adventures..." spoke Cahira slowly, thinking about how frustrated she had been when she had tried to find her way back to the common room! The castle was really too big and the moving stairs weren't helping her!

And then Hady spoke about her muggle 'friend' if she really wanted to call him her friend and her face darkened again. Muggles weren't somebody’s friend, not without a double meaning anyway! But because Hady really seemed to be fooled by the muggle and thought that he was her friend she... Couldn't do much about it. She shrugged while she tried to not look too cold because she didn't wanted to make a wrong first impression... "I... Only want to warn you to... Not be fooled by them, they can hurt you if you want and they don't need any magic to do it" spoke Cahria again slowly but... If Hady really wanted to be friends with that muggle then she needed to learn her lesson and Cahira was SURE that she would get hurt eventually by that same muggle! "But... It's your choice so... I'm fine with it as long as i don't need to have anything to do with them" spoke Cahira while she again looked down at her rat, wondering why somebody could be friends with a muggle!

But... For now it was probably the best to change the subject and to... Not think about it, not if she wanted to get angry again because of what those Muggles have done to her in the past! So when Hady also spoke about something else she was happy to follow and to leave the 'muggle as a friend' subject for what it was!

Widening her eyes she looked again at the water, more curious than ever before! "A giant squid? Wow! I really need to see that one!" grinned Cahira while she wondered wow the squid had gotten there and if there were more of them!

"Hmm, what i like?" Responded she to Hady while she thought about the castle and what she liked to find but... That was difficult question, she liked so much! "Are there secret or hidden passageways? Or quick ways to travel trough the castle?" Asked she suddenly curious.

Alright so some people didn't like to get lost. To each their own really. Hady simply shrugged her shoulders in reply. "Some mind and others don't. Me I like adventure so getting lost sometimes doesn't really bother me any."

So this girl seriously had a thing against muggles hmm. This wasn't good. Everyone deserved their own opinion on such but Hady wouldn't listen to any talk about her friend. As she listened to this garbage she couldn't help but roll her eyes in response. "I'll have you know I've known Jax since I was like two he's more a brother then a friend and he hasn't harmed me once. If anything I've hurt him." Not on purpose! It was always an accident but it was true.

And if this girl didn't like muggles then she wouldn't like to know that Hady happened to be raised by one. Her adoptive mum was muggle. Taking a deep breath and a quick glance at a photo beside her she let the topic go and moved on before she ended up snapping at the girl.

"Yes a giant squid. He comes and goes as he pleases and I've heard he isn't very nice." That's all she really knew about that.

Once more Hady shrugged her shoulders. "There's the owlery and the barns, greenhouses, towers and library. Uh... I'm sure there is but I haven't really been looking for any." She was much to busy last year. Maybe this year though she'd find something.

"Well, it was probably fun for Bellaire and Murdoch - they had a GREAT time laying into everyone," he grumbled with a soft sigh. He shouldn't speak badly of his heads of house, he knew that, but he had to let it out. It was annoying how...unnecessary the whole thing had been. But whatever, he was going to move on now...it was behind them, and prefect duties could only go up from here, right?

"Yeah, Flamsteed is AWESOME," he added with a grin. He really did like that professor, he made Astronomy FUN. Which was a challenge in itself - but wait. He did WHAT?! He blinked and stared at her. "You jumped out of a TOWER? No thank you! Although...depends on the payment. And how sturdy the bungee cords were," he added with a grin. If it wasn't worth it, he wasn't going to risk breaking any of his precious bones!

As Kace realized what he said, he might have spooked the kid. I mean the wide eyes didn't give it away. Merlin he really did seem scared, he backed away from the lake's edge. "Oh man I am sorry. Nah I am not joking." He was being totally serious. "There is a giant squid in there. I am warning you so you won't be totally scared when you see him for the first time."

Aahh so he hadn't seen him. "Well you will see him more in the summer when you swim in the lake. He is friendly and you hardly notice he is there." he told him. Does he eat people? He shook his head and said, "Nooo he doesn't. He helps people and is very friendly." he assured the first year.

“Yeah its not the first time Rorie’s done that, at the music fest she climbed up my back and basically got a free piggy-back ride” Puck laughed and grinned over to Caleb, really she didn’t mind the fact that Rorie did that…it was kind of funny, “it really never seems to be dull does it?” She grinned and looked over to the Slytherin Prefect before glancing up at the sky momentarily.

Puck gave Caleb a little pout of a frown when he brought up Bellaire and Murdoch. “Hey I get that, I mean…if I were them…” she shook her head, “yeah no, I wouldn’t have been that mad I would have just been all keep it down or just see what happens” she sighed and really hopefully she’d never be on the receiving end of their anger right.

“He really is…except maybe when he was hook” she laughed and nodded her hair. “Heck yeah I did – it was actually kind of fun and I also did it to avoid the…awkward stuff that was going on” she wasn’t going to go into details or anything but she still needed to talk to people about that opening party. “Oh these were sturdy and magical…what kind of payment would you do it for?” She asked curiously, her trusty smirk in place.

The changing stairs could be a huge problem especially for a first year. Mainly when you're on your way to class! Otherwise it really didn't bother her to much cause she had found a few places she hadn't even meant to because of it. "Yeah I suppose so. I guess it's really all about timing when it comes to the stairs or knowing a different way of getting where you want to go."

Hady shrugged her shoulders in an uncaring way about the suggestion to change topics from muggles. She had no problem with talking of something else, in fact it was quite the opposite, she welcomed a change. However now it would always be there in the very back of her mind that Cahira had a huge thing against muggles. She'd keep it to herself though and try not to hold that against the young girl...much.

At the mention of capturing the giant squid Hady laughed. "I don't know about that. You'd probably end up getting yourself killed...or expelled." She didn't think the squid would be to kind about being captured and she knew the Professors wouldn't like it either. If this girl though wanted to try...more power to her.

Zoe made her way down to the lake and sat near the water, but not too close to it. She just relaxed there on the beach trying to think about anything but the NEWT's she'd be taking at the end of the term. She knew she ought to be studying but....yeah she really didn't feel like studying. Her hands went behind her head as she lay there on her back.

Domino smiled a bit and nodded. "Yeah, you could be my friend," She shrugged. "I like the color red," She said. "I have a soft spot for house elves. I don't think they should be treated the way that they are being treated," She said.

The boy looked cute but...she shook her head, he's probably gay, or already taken, she thought to her self mentally cursing her self as she felt a blush creep up on her.

"I think you'd be good at teaching" she said beaming at him. She shook her head "Don't know if I've learned anything new, it's just the professors seem to be fraught on making us remember that we have NEWTs coming up and that's what everything is circling around."

She laughed tilting her head "Mmmm, but I think hide and seek is good to play and let everyone find me." Heh! "It makes it harder for them to find me if I get a headstart."

He really wanted the emptiness to go away, but right now, he felt too hollow to fill. No amount of chocolate frogs so far had even come close. Boo. Getting easier sounded promising, distractions also sounded promising, but he did not want to get used to this. Still, he nodded his head in understanding.

"My sister... they sent her to Beauxbaton instead of letting her come here. We were supposed to be together, we had plans, grand plans..." he needed her. "I could fill her in on the stuff I did last year, but, she's super smart and would catch up and be telling me stuff, and if I'm going to get through school with O's and E's I need her." See? SEEE? Huge problem. Best friend, confidant, partner in crime, sibling, and human self-teaching textbook... all gone... out of reach.

HAHAHA. Skipping classes. Zeke was so funny.

"I'll keep your secret," Lux told her friend with a wink. "Lucky my boyfriend isn't your Prefect anymore, or I'd have to tell him." Smile. She didn't keep things from Bay and maybe a part of a Prefect's job was to make sure people didn't skip class. She wasn't positive on this.

Awww, so it was his sister. She knew what that was like since she missed both her siblings - though sometimes Willa was a butt, and she didn't miss her much then. "Can I ask why she was sent there instead?" Merely curious. Beauxbatons seemed like a decent school, though it seemed that there were varying opinions on it. "I think you're smart too, Zeke." He was only a Second Year, so there were loads of things that he still had to learn but he was making a good start.

Phoenix was out here drawing.. again. It'd been a bit of a regular haunt for him lately, he just thought it felt nice and comfortable and relaxing. Which was nice, considering how up he'd been lately, this constant energy buzz. He was usually fine with it, he liked being an energetic person. But there was some kind of negative energy going on in his head at the moment, which he didn't really understand. So he was drawing instead.

He tapped the end of his pencil on his slightly-too-long nose and looked up from his paper to check he'd got the whole lake to hills ratio right.

Maybe he'd be able to find someone to draw soon, he wasn't a big fan of this landscape, it had a big gap in the middle where THINGS should be.

The lake was one place Kate hadn't visited yet. Well, she'd rode across the lake in a boat, but that was at nighttime, and she'd been much more focused on her sorting and not the lake. So she decided to walk down there one afternoon when the weather was still nice. October was good for nice weather. It wasn't too hot or too cold, and you could still stay outside a lot. Plus, her birthday was in a few weeks, which meant October was all the more awesome for that reason. She couldn't wait to be twelve! Only one more year, and she'd be a teenager! AWESOME.

Kate reached the lake and just stood there looking out at it, wondered what sort of creatures lived in its depths. This was a pretty place, and she could see herself coming out here often.

"You think? My brother just laughed at me. Dad kind of made a noise and wandered off. Probably just glad that I don't want to be an Auror like he was. Then again I'm not all that observant sometimes." He shrugged and let his eyes follow a bird who was flying a head. "Well they are coming up. Best not to wait until you HAVE to study to get on it."

"That...makes no sense at all..." he said his eyebrows furrowing and sat up and turned toward her. "That's probably the most absurd thing you've ever said Zoe," he said laughing and shook his head. "You still have to let people know that's what they're playing or else no one will ever find you."

"I think you would be brilliant." she assured him. "Sometimes parents and even siblings have other ideas" ....like a healer...just no, her mum wanted her to do that and she still couldn't heal herself when she cut herself! "Yeah sometimes they have other ideas and don't take you seriously until you just go and do it. I think...I really might look into studying dragons, maybe go into magical creatures." She laughed and nodded in agreement "Yeah, that's what I prefer!"

She snickered "Maybe I don't want to be found?" she said snickering "Though I don't mind being found."

James shrugged and shook his head. "It's not for everyone that's for sure. I'm just that big of a nerd." Or romantic. He'd vote for either one. He could quote romantic stuff all day long. Not that he would...but he could....

"You think?" James said laughing and stretched out his legs. He listened as she spoke and pursed his lips before sitting up again. "About that..." He tried to think of a good way to phrase what he was going to ask. "I think you'd be great with creatures and dragons. Our studies are going to take us different places and...well...what happens with us then?" He looked up at her and swallowed, "I mean we haven't really done much with this dating thing and...I guess I want to know if you think we should keep at it or attempting it anyway or stick with being best friends because we know we'll end up going other places at the end of the term?" Hopefully she understood this was NOT him breaking up with her. He just really didn't know what they should be doing....

Brian gave Kace a very apprehensive look before he slowly scooted back to his original spot. Only if you were sure, mister. He was giving you a lot of trust here and if he got eaten by this giant squid, he was going to hold you personally responsible. "Oooookay, then." He was not going to question this any further.

"Wait, why would you be here during the summer?" Didn't they get holidays in this crazy school? Nobody could tell him the Wizarding World wasn't crazy, nope. They had animated measuring equipment, talking portraits and classes involving pumpkins and spiders and apparently a friendly giant squid who liked to help people. "This school is weird."
