Stepping into the arena, you are immediately enveloped with the light shining into the room, either morning or evening depending on what time you decide to enter. If you can tear your gaze away from the intricately designed windows and high ceilings could, you can see to the very right of the room, there is the long platform in which supervised duels will take place while four benches on either side are placed at a safe distance for those who would like to sit and watch. Just ahead of the platform in the right corner, there is a door, though pay no attention to it. It's locked for a reason.
Towards the back wall, there are various types of practice dummies, both stationary and moving, depending on what difficulty the practicer wants. Don't be afraid to go all out with your spells, for these dummies are charmed to repair themselves. There is one practice dummy set aside that will shoot spells back to the practicer, however, permission from a Professor is required to use it. To the left side of the arena are two sets of stands, eight seats high, that look out to the entire arena, comfortable for those who would just like to watch what's going on all around or for general purposes such as studying or relaxing after a long day in the arena.
The middle of the room is quite empty, due to the fact that the defense Professor enjoys presenting lessons in here, but please, despite the brilliant light that shines through the arena due to the large windows, it is not some place to sunbathe or fall asleep. You will be levitated out with a good dose of cold water splashed on you if caught.
Okay. Now they were even on the giggling thing. Having your clothes on fire was equally as embarrassing. Especially the accompanied FLAILING and girly shriek. So Maggie's lips curled into a smirk while she watched Toby put out the fire.
"You okay?" This time it was genuine, seeing as she'd forgiven him.
Maggie would have TOTALLY been hit by the spell because she was way too slow casting her Shield Charm. If only it had been AIMED at her. As it were though she didn't even have to move - although she DID jump out of the way too - for the spell to go right past her. Bad aim, Toby. Very bad aim.
Now that she'd calmed down again though it was no longer fun sending spells at Toby. Which was why she pointed her wand at Eden (who was practicing nearby) instead and said, "Immobulus!" They were supposed to practice the spells right? Well, she was doing exactly that.
Mhm.
Toby nodded. "Uh-huh." Yeah, he was fine. He was okay. All good, just a little on the singed side. Ahem.
And Maggie seemed calmer and, like, had less of an 'I am going to kill you' gleam in her eye, and it seemed as though their duel had ended... with a fizzle rather than a bang.Which was a WEIRD way to end a duel, but Toby was thankful anyway. DUELLING WAS SUPER STRESSFUL, OKAY?
Maggie's Immobulus charm was blatantly not aimed at him, and Toby, assuming she'd just deliberately missed and fired in a random direction like he had, figured it was time to end this duel properly. He stood and used his non-wand hand to salute thin air, then turned his wand onto himself.
"Expelliarmus!" What? He was just practicing his final spell in a way that nobody got hurt or furious.
Pewewewewewewew... Toby's wand flew out of his hand and span away through the air, leaving Toby well and truly disarmed and the loser of the duel. But... technically the winner since he'd cast the last spell? Uhh... no. No, he'd call that a lose.
Oh, wait... where had his wand actually got to? Toby turned to look around the room and THAT was when he finally saw Lux and Eden. Eden who had clearly been hit by Maggie's spell. Oh. Oh.
"Uhhhhhhh..." Well... this was a situation. Lux was apparently being dangled in the air by Eden, who'd been frozen by Maggie, who... had surely done it by accident, right? ... Yeah. "I think your spell hit Eden."
Merlin. WHERE had his wand flown off to? If he had it he could have let Lux down or something. Uh. Uhhhhhhhh.
This was just a really weird day.

When Kace's teeth grew in, all Cutty would think that somewhere out there, there was a witch who was looking for a brother who could bit an apple through a white picket fence. It was strange how no matter what you were, there was always someone there to chase you down-or love you as it is known to those of us who aren't Cutty.
He let his mind drift a bit to Eden and Phoenix and the colour of Puck's lips as she flashed him her badge before straightening completely and being unable to move. Now would be a really good time to practice wordless and wandless magic. There was the commonly used spell that Cutty could do wordlessly with good result, but without use of his wand or tongue it proved impossible for the dark haired boy and so he remained. On his back like Amortentia.
This was going to be fun. The smile on his face said he thought as much. It even increased when they were joined by Cosgrach Culloden, who it seemed to Cutty just wanted to be like one of the students.
HAHHAhah hAHAHHAhAhahahaahHAHaHa!!
"Duro!" He said, his wand out and aimed at the arrow flying toward him. He dodged last minute letting it crumble to the ground. If he hadn't made it, missed by timing or centimeter, Sophie's arrow would've gone straight through his shoulder. He did NOT consider this. In fact, either for ignorance or arrogance (possibly both) he did not consider this practice dangerous for either of them.
"I like it when you call me Chief." She could've meant this sarcastically, but Cutty gave no nevaminds about it. It happened. And that was all that mattered. "Hit me me again, Brown." He said, open for another one of her shots.
Merlin what they were actually becoming friends? What if it lasted? For a long time like? And then he eventually had to say, 'Hit me again, Thompson-Fuller.'

Then as he asked Puck for help, he saw Cutty just standing there. He had his eyes concentrated on him. What in the bloody merlin was he doing? He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and had one skeptical brow raised. Whatever he was doing it wasn't working on him. He didn't feel anything. He just wanted Puck's help.
Puck watched as Cutty seemed to freeze in place…oh gosh…Cutty was like a turtle. A dark haired turtle. Unable to move or get off of his back “finite” she muttered pointing her wand at the Slytherin in hopes to help him move maybe at least a little…ooh wait. Kace needed her help?
“Fine Kace…but you know the rabbit look does work on you” she grinned and pointed her wand at his large pearly whites…really, it was like he was trying to impersonate a sabertooth deer. Pointing her wand she moved it in a V-shape and watched as the purple light erupted from her wand and propelled toward her friend’s face…really, she just hoped he kept his mouth open otherwise he’d have an unfortunately shrunken head. As she stood there and looked around she just winced as she spotted Lux floating. Yep. She was going to help her...the floor wasn't painful right? She hoped as she jerked her wand upwards and cast a quick practically silent "Liberacorpus".

Falling to the floor in a heap, Lux let out a loud "OOF!"
No matter, because she was free! Getting to her feet again, the redhead went over to Puck and gave her a hug. "Thank you so much!" Her head had really started to feel funny.
Making her way back to Eden, Lux quickly did the counter-spell so that she would be unfrozen. "Presto!" hehe. Smiling, she looked around and spotted a wand. "Did someone lose that?" she asked as she pointed to it.
Eden watched the scene in complete and utter DISMAY. TOBY WHATEVER YOUR LAST NAME IS RIGHT NOW. WHAT IN MERLIN'S NAME WAS HE DOING?! Eden had been COUNTING on him to let her down since he seemed the most COMPETANT right now....
CLEARLY NOT.
Had he just DISARMED himself?!?!?! BLOODY HUFFLEPUFFS.
Eden wanted to GROWL at him but she didn't. And Lux might DIE soon if she stayed dangled any LONGER, all right?! BUt FINALLY--and a Gryffindor, no doubt--Puck let Lux down, who then proceeded to unfreeze her.
Eden HUFFED and turned on Maggied, quickly, without even so much as THINKING--"RICTUSEMPRA!" she cried, at Maggie, and before waiting to see what it'd DO--she turned back to Lux. She needed to practice the spell after ALL.
"Okay. My turn to do it on you. Think fast--RICTUSEMPRA!" she cried, again, and....ha. Getting out her frustration using SPELLS was FUN. And a bit....productive, in a weird way.

Okay, one spell to go!
Smiling, Lux got herself ready to cast when - okaaaay, so Eden was going to practice on the Slytherin instead. o_O
Mad Eden was SCARY, and before Lux could even react, she was hit with Rictusempra. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Make it stop!!!" falling to the ground, she curled into a ball as she couldn't stop laughing.

Ah, here it came.
He smiled at her then in an attempt to make her gloomy mood go away. Lucky for her, this wasn't a real duel.

No wonder he wasn't a spell-teaching professor. Potions were more straightforward.
As much as Bambi hated losing - and she really really HATE LOSING - she knew that at the end of the day, she'd always remember to take her opponent's wand and literally never ever ever let her guard down. Ever. NEVER EVER.
Huh. Maybe she did focus on offense too much? "I... I guess," she replied, thinking that teachers DID always try to squash the impatience out of her back at Salem. Perhaps that was it? HMM HMM. Potions professor being awesome over here. Yes Yes. She might even forgive him for that whole stunt he pulled if he helped her get past this rut.
She grinned back when he smiled, and nodded. "Yeah, actually that's really helpful," she said, and twirled her wand thoughtfully in her hand. "Thanks professor, I think I'll take it from here... I'll get one of-" she gestured towards the group of students practicing and paused, taking in the scene of people being levitated, frozen, caught on fire and the like, "er, one of them to throw hexes at me or something." What on EARTH was happening over there?! Was that Eden? She didn't look all that pleased. Bambi wondered if it was a good idea to approach any of them at all at the moment.
Oh well. What better way to practice defense than fearing for you life right?

Kace was surprised that his spell worked on Cutty. He grinned and was surprised his rabbit teeth didn't fail him. He felt confident and he saw his best friend Puck help him out. Thankk god. "Yeah yeah yeah.." he said rolling his eyes. He didn't pull the rabbit look off at all. He opened his mouth to let Puck shrink his teeth and it felt SOO much better. He smiled his pearly whites and he nodded. "Thanks Puck." he said talking normally now. He stared at Cutty now and this was SO on.
He saw Puck helping out Lux and he was gonna do that but he was busy with Cutty.

He shut his eyes and imagined the word, his wrist performing the wand motion and the relationship between his mind and his nerves charging as he sent the command to move to his extremities. It had worked and Cutty rolled to his front and pushed up onto his feet once more HATING the vulnerable position he was once in.
"Protego." He said, casting upon himself a useful protection charm. Now for Lecium's turn. "Carpe Retractum!" He said, going for the Puffleton's wand. The whip-like motion swung out a beam of magic. This could've been a tug of war. Depending on how strong of a hold Lecium had on his wand.
He saw Cutty getting feeling back in his body. He saw him wiggling his fingers slowly and Kace needed to be prepared. He took a deep sigh and thought of protective spells. As he cast his spell again, he noticed Cutty used Protego. He nodded and he was quick on his feet he would give him that. He heard the spell and he wasn't quick to cast it because he got his wand taken. He tried to grab it back but his spell was strong.
ARRGHHHHHHH
He tried with all his might but Cutty managed to get his wand. Curse you Cutty. He would need to think of another spell.

Moving it in a tight ark and tapped it against her shoulder, the top of her head, and the opposite shoulder. “Disillusio” she quietly muttered as she seemed to just have been playing a simple game of head shoulder knee’s and toes…but nope, no she seemed to shimmer and disappear but she was still there. She just was harder to see as the images behind her were now visible through her staying as still as possible she waited to see what Kace would do.

Eden was all smug that she had performed a majority of the five spells they'd practiced really well..HEH. GOOD JOB, EDEN. She wanted to pat herself on the back. Or maybe she'd go find Phe--he was good at giving rewards...
She did expect Lux to shoot it right back at her once she had undone the tickling spell on her--but still, she....just didn't really PREPARE herself for it...when she suddenly fell to the ground, to, ROLLING around, crazily...LAUGHING. She had TEARS in her eyes, she was so....GOSH THIS WAS SO TICKLY.
It was almost fun.
Fun.
Until she felt that.....sensation in her tummy--"L-LUX!! I HAVE TO P-PEEEEEEE! PLE-PLEASE TAKE THIS OFFF--" and there was going to be a URINE accident up in here.

He nodded and said, "Surreeee..." he didn't believe her. Maybe she did and he didn't notice. Ah well he let it slide. He wondered what spell to use.
He used, "Tarantallegra!" and used the proper wand movement and he wondered if the spell worked.

That wasn't being mean though, as it didn't exactly hurt to be tickled....it was the laughing that started to hurt after a while. But she wouldn't let Eden be affected for long.

Gold and blue light collided against eachother. The sparks, the purple sparks that radiated out of the colliding spells was beautiful like fireworks. Puck just grinned and glanced over to Kace. “That looks awesome!” She beamed. “Finite” she pointed her wand toward her friend just for good measure as she didn’t want him to be…well confused for life? And who knows what the purple arching light would cause to happen? Still it just seemed like the spell was shattering and exploding above them like a light show.

And Maggie seemed calmer and, like, had less of an 'I am going to kill you' gleam in her eye, and it seemed as though their duel had ended... with a fizzle rather than a bang.Which was a WEIRD way to end a duel, but Toby was thankful anyway. DUELLING WAS SUPER STRESSFUL, OKAY?
Maggie's Immobulus charm was blatantly not aimed at him, and Toby, assuming she'd just deliberately missed and fired in a random direction like he had, figured it was time to end this duel properly. He stood and used his non-wand hand to salute thin air, then turned his wand onto himself.
"Expelliarmus!" What? He was just practicing his final spell in a way that nobody got hurt or furious.
Pewewewewewewew... Toby's wand flew out of his hand and span away through the air, leaving Toby well and truly disarmed and the loser of the duel. But... technically the winner since he'd cast the last spell? Uhh... no. No, he'd call that a lose.
Oh, wait... where had his wand actually got to? Toby turned to look around the room and THAT was when he finally saw Lux and Eden. Eden who had clearly been hit by Maggie's spell. Oh. Oh.
"Uhhhhhhh..." Well... this was a situation. Lux was apparently being dangled in the air by Eden, who'd been frozen by Maggie, who... had surely done it by accident, right? ... Yeah. "I think your spell hit Eden."
Merlin. WHERE had his wand flown off to? If he had it he could have let Lux down or something. Uh. Uhhhhhhhh.
This was just a really weird day.
HEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEEHHHEEHHEE-
It had hit her. Eden couldn't move. And in turn her partner (Lux) was still just hanging there, in the air. Which was really REALLY funny to watch. They both looked so lame. Which they were. Obviously. Before anyone else noticed that it had been HER though, Maggie quickly lowered her wand and-
'Expelliarmus!'

Maggie turned on the spot, half expecting her own wand to fly out of her hand. Only it didn't. She blinked, staring at Toby in utter confusion. Who didn't have HIS wand anymore. Wait.......what? Had he just....used the spell on himself? Why???? Hufflepuffs were even weirder than she'd thought???????
And yes she was aware it had hit Eden. "Oh noooo. My aim was off. I was just trying to practice but somehow my...wand just jerked in a different direction somehow. Is that normal?" She pouted, playing up the epitome of innocence act. It would work on Toby yes? He seemed very gullible.
Luckily, she even turned around to give Eden a 'worried' look just in time to see that someone had lifted the spell. And now there was in turn a spell headed HER way. Maggie quickly cast a Shield Charm. But while the spell hit her shield she still had to take a few steps back from the sheer force of it.
RUDE! "She tried to ATTACK ME!" Maggie pouted some more and turned to look at Toby again. DID HE SEE?????????
"It did?" Toby replied to Maggie, blinking and looking at the wand in question. "Maybe your magic was too strong, and like... jerked it off as you cast it. That's happened to me a couple times, when I haven't been holding on tight enough." It was true, yep. Sometimes the darn thing span right out of his hands. No self-inflicted Expelliarmus necessary.
But yes. YEP. Toby believed Maggie because he had a WHOLE LOT OF TRUST in people, which... maybe him very gullible indeed, oops. Still, no reason not to trust her, right? Right.
So anyway, Toby was about to look around for his wand again when he DID catch sight of the spell being shot at Maggie, who managed to deflect it. He looked around for the caster and saw EDEN, which made sense. Retaliation? Did she think Maggie had cast on her on purpose?
"I..." he looked between the two, blinking, surprised. "Eden... how come-?"
WAIT. HOLD THAT THOUGHT. Because WAND.
He'd SEEN it at last. Well. After a little friendly prompting from Lux, of course, who'd asked if someone had lost something. TOBY had lost something, yes, but now FOUND it. He called a quick "Thanks!" to Lux and then quickly darted the few feet away to pick it up, momentarily ducking away out of the conversation like a small child who'd spotted a shiny galleon on the ground. HUZZAH! Got it back.
Toby turned back to the girl's again, though, and was immediately reminded of the situation. Huzzah over. What had happened?
... "Maybe Eden got you by accident too, Maggie?" Yeah? All a big misunderstanding? Made sense in Toby's mind.
