Though, he has to admit that he’s thankful he’s got OWLs to think about...and not some stupid ball that ended up really bad for him...and Josie.
It took him seconds to realize that Josie was already on the ground picking up his things. He too started to pick his things up. What should he exactly say? Should he say sorry? Sorry for what? For being stood up? Ethan bit his wounded lip and winced at the pain. “Look...it’s...it’s fine. I got this.” The Slytherin said concentrating on the mess before him. He got his wand out, and pointed it at his satchel. “Reparo.” The spell did its thing, and his bag was as good as new.
Tucking away his wand, he quickly glanced at Josie, then continued to stuff his bag with his things. “Is everything okay, Jo?” he asked casually without looking at her. “Your eyes...” She had been crying, yes? Ethan mentally groaned at the thought, and couldn’t help but feel guilty. But why does he feel that way? He was the one who got left behind during the bloody Masque party.
Is there any way this couldn't feel any more uncomfortable?
She froze at his words when he mentioned to her that he could pick up his books. Josie could clearly tell that he seemed to be upset or possibly angry. She didn't particularly do well people were in this state, it made her very uncomfortable. Now she really wished to run away, but she couldn't. Still holding one of his books, she hesitated for a moment when she heard him cast Reparo to repair his bag. The young Ravenclaw slowly gestured his book back to him.
And of course all hopes of Ethan not seeing his reddened cheeks & slightly bloodshot eyes were all for nothing, because he did in fact see just those things. She panicked & cleared her throat before wiping her cheeks rapidly. Josie spoke quickly,
"O-Oh, it-it's nothing...I-I'm...I must h-have allergies.." ...Allergies? Really?
Absolutely terrible she was at lying, especially to him. Josie bit her lip trying her best to fight back these uncontrollable emotions. She took a deep breath staring at the ground. Multiple thoughts racing through her brain, almost making it impossible for her concentrate on one thought. It was all building up at once. Particularly to do with wanting to know why he hadn't shown up at the event & why he wasn't there when the very awkward moment had happened with those two mystery boys were arguing in front of her, mainly..about
her.
But she couldn't ask that, it wasn't any of her busi-
"...W-Why didn't you c-come? W-Was i-it me? I-I c-couldn't find you anywhere.." DRATS, not the tears!
Her breathing was picking up & at this point the tears were streaming down her face again. Josette couldn't hold it back any more. She had to know. She wanted to know. She
needed to know.
.....Yet at the same time she was questioning why she was
this upset.
