Leaving the courtyard corridor, you will find yourself in an enclosed, squared courtyard. It is covered with bright green grass with various plants placed around the edges of the stone walls. This is the perfect place for meeting friends, or a chance of fresh air whilst catching up with your homework. There are plenty of stone benches placed around the area, too!

SPOILER!!: Kace's Notes

Sixth Year
Cats Assignment
Cat 1: The cat was swatting at the air which means I will get good news soon. Hopefully I will get good news from my girlfriend or you know I could be getting a lot of money. That would be nice.
Cat 2: The orange tabby cat was lying stretched out on the grounds. That means that we're going to have some good days ahead and probably some sun too. I think this means for me I can have more adventures around the school. I would like to have more sun because it can make your day brighter. No pun intended. I usually like having good days when it involves riding on my broom.
Cat 3: The tuxedo cat came over to Zander and I first and then as soon as Zander was done petting him or her, the cat followed him. So I read that if the cat followed the person, it means you will be getting money. I think I would like some money wouldn't you Professor? Everyone can use extra cash. I mean I will need it to buy christmas gifts soon.
As he looked over his notes and the assignment, he realized they only needed to do three readings. He grinned and said, "Well I think we did all the homework needed for Divination don't you?" He was pleased with their progress.
Once the Gryffindor had reached his friend, he curiously leaned over and tried to sneak a peek at the sixth year's textbook. And uh, he didn't see a thing about a cat that wanted a belly rub. So maybe there wasn't any interpreting that they could-- OH SNAPPING. THAT WAS A GOOD SIGN?? Or maybe he was just intimidating Professor Morgan?
"Uh, money?" the Gryffindor tilted his head quizzically before jumping up in total joy-- which may or may not have scared the cat away... Oops? "Kace, THAT'S BRILLIANT!!" The receiving money bit! "I need some more to restock on chocolate frogs!!" HA THIS WAS THE BEST NEWS EVER!!!! Forget the fact that cat divination was absolutely nutters, he was going to get MONEY!!!
The Prefect then picked his parchment back off the ground and with the BIGGEST smile on his face he began scribbling all of this down.
Quote:
Cat #3 (Apparently it's a Tuxedo cat or something... But if that's wrong then it wasn't my fault. Kace said it not me. But if it's right... Then it was a team effort, Professor).
I have the most absolutely BRILLIANT news! I'm going to get money!! The cat started following me and I think he just wanted some biscuits or something, OR maybe he just wanted me to receive money so that I could buy some chocolate frogs.
Ahem. Kace, you saw nothing. Zander quickly stuffed his parchment back into his bag before turning to the older boy, still with that stupid goofy grin on his face. "Yeah, I reckon we're done then?... It was erm, fun working with you, Kace!" Always a pleasure. And now, to take a nap probably. "Well, I should, uh... Get back to my common room to study a bit." Nap. He was most definitely going to take a nap.

Throughout the whole of the school the place where Layla felt the most comfortable, with the exception of her dorm of course, was being outside. She was a sporty individual anyway. Until she came to Hogwarts she was always outside practicing field hockey or having a kick about (and beating might she add) with the guys on the common so it was only natural that she'd enjoy the fresh atmosphere of the school grounds.
The weather was still cold considering it was very early in the year and the blonde had actually bothered to throw on a scarf with her jumper and ripped skinny jeans. She didn't make the biggest effort with her appearance anyway. She was tall and skinny and wasn't conventionally pretty like the majority of the girls here appeared to be. She dressed for comfort rather than style, although it didn't actually look bad on her.
She headed out into the courtyard where she leaned against the wall for a short period of time merely observing others. She had no one to talk to but she didn't mind that. The seventeen year old didn't have the biggest group of friends anyway, in fact she mostly just stuck around with her two dormmates and her cousin when she could find him.

The weather had taken a particular warmer turn that day then they had had and Benny had decided to venture outside for once without prompting. Having plans with to spend time with his girlfriend, Angel was tagging along on the venture which was fine by him. Fresh air for once other then just being inside the castle and not having to be too concerned about being cold. Granted he still had his scarf wrapped around his throat above his robes to ensure he didn't get too carried away thinking it wasn't cold.
"This is nice..." he mused absently as he wandered out into the courtyard from the connecting stone corridor. "What do you think?"

Angel looked at Benny and giggled. "This is nice." Angel said as she picked up a small beetle and put it the half of the sandwich she wasn't eating. "Hey Benny, I dare you to eat this sandwich." Angel giggled, putting on her best straight face trying to make it seem like things were going awesome and she hadn't done anything.

So they were in agreement. A nice trek outside on a semi-nice day. Benny raised any eyebrow, turning around at her question. "Why?...not hungry? " He couldn't help be curious as to why she was daring him to eat something. Offering it to him was good enough so as not to waste it if she wasn't hungry anymore. As long as it wasn't something nasty...like pastrami or something similar that he wasn't a fan of.

Angel looked at Benny and giggled. "Yeah, I've had enough." Angel sighed, as she passed over the half of the sandwich that was left. She hoped that Benny wouldn't ask questions. "'I've eaten, two sandwich and two tubes of smarties in the past hour and I have no idea why I made myself another sandwich." Angel giggled. "Please take it."
It was cold, but as Damien kicked and pushed around on Philip Two - so named after the original Philip that Toby had been kind enough to let him copy - He barely noticed it, too intent on getting this skateboarding thing down. So far he had managed to figure out staying on and keeping going, though turning was still hella tricky and he was no where near skilled enough to try grinding or ollies.
Kick, push, he moved easily down the paved path along the courtyard, his body leaning with the board to avoid any cracks or obstacles. It felt smooth, and easier and Damien was actually pretty damn proud of himself.

Sure enough, that was the case. "Alright Giggles," Benny teased, accepting the sandwich that looked like turkey which he was fine with. "Because you're a growing girl?" he mused with a shrug. That was always the excuse people gave when teenagers were always ravenous, his own dad teasing him quite a bit about it when he was home. Surely girls had that happen to them too along the way...right?
The Gryffindor moved to take a bite from the sandwich since he hadn't eaten nearly as much himself. It wasn't until he pulled away he thought he spotted something. "What's this?" he asked, grabbing hold of the movement. It was then that it moved again in his grasp trying to get away.

"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???"
Evie had gone outside to get some fresh air and clear her mind and what she saw had surprised her. Damien was on his skateboard. And he was GOOD. Hence her exclamation. So, apparently this meant Damien had learned how to skateboard without her. Evie stood in the middle of the courtyard and crossed her arms over chest, waiting for him to hear her and come back. She wanted to when he got good and why she hadn't been invited.

A beetle?
Angel looked at Benny. "I can giggle if I want." Angel stuck her tongue out at Benny and then watched him take the sandwich, he was going to eat it right. "Yeah maybe you are right, I do seem to be growing, maybe it's because I want to be as tall as you one day." Angel giggled, knowing it wouldn't happen.
Angel waited and waited and then sighed. "Drats, I mean... how did that get there?" Angel gave a fake sigh. "But since you have found it and I did get you and you did say I could give you a dare." Angel giggled. "I dare you to eat it." Angel looked at her boyfriend.

It was Benny's turn to chuckle as she retorted back, sticking her tongue out at him to cement the whole thing. See...she was agreeing with him about the growing thing. Even if she was teasing him about his height. "Yeah...sure." That would be weird if she managed to do that since he had already had a few growth spurts that put him high up there. Angel would be towering if she surpassed him.
He looked to her as she sighed, starting to get the sneaky suspecion she was aware of the bug. Listening to what she was saying it all sunk in and the older Gryffindor groaned in rememberance of the mini-bet they had made. The one she had won when she surprised him with a moundful of glitter in History of Magic. "Really?" Benny questioned looking back at the wiggly beetle in his fingers. He couldn't help the unsure face that accompanied the swallow at the thought of it.

Angel smirked, now she had given Benny a choice but he had to pick one soon.

Surrrrre she didn't know it had been there. If she hadn't, Angel wouldn't have been trying so hard to defend herself and look innocent to him. Not to mention, given the recall of their bet, it was now pretty clear that this had been planned. The third sandwich had been a set-up and he had fallen for it as well as the original endevour about her getting him back for the tickling.
So that was the course of the dare. Eating the beetle or a spider if they happened to find one. Again he looked at the bug in his grasp as he debated his move. Could he really live it down if he didn't do one or the other? And he supposed if he continued to be hesitant Angel would only resort to those convincing puppy dog eyes of hers that tended to get him doing what she wanted.
Benny tentatively lifted the beetle up closer to him, the bug squirming a little in the process. "Um...here goes I suppose," he said before closing his eyes while he slowly opened his mouth. One...two...three... drop the beetle in his mouth. The lion felt it move again and he forced himself to swallow the small little creature as he made a face.

Studying was so freaking boring and Grayson was happy to be outta the castle for a bit. Swear to Merlin, how could people sit and study for a long period of time? Didn't they get bored? Didn't they have something better to do with their time? It seemed like a torture technique more than anything else.
Yeah. Whatever. He was OUTSIDE to get away from that so he should stop thinking about it, mkay? Good. Where exactly he was walking off to, he had no idea but he was hoping for the best, which, in this case, would mean bumping into some good company. He was not gonna be impressed if he bumped into someone with as much personality as bit of broccoli. No--
Oh? He knew what THAT look meant.
Smirking, Grayson swaggered over towards the blonde haired girl and leaned against the wall she was leaning on as well. Comfy, wasn't it? He certainly thought so. And he needed to get the conversation rolling but how? 'Sup? Nah, too boring! Instead, the sixteen year old opted for pointing at a random passer-by and saying, "That one's shaped like an idiot."

Perfect.
Layla wasn’t really the nosey sort, she didn’t particularly care for knowing everything about people’s lives and she didn’t really know that many people here anyway. But on the quiet winters day there was nothing else to do and the only form of entertainment was observing the kids going about their lives. As uninteresting as they were.
It didn’t take long of standing leaning against the wall before she was graced with some company. She knew of this guy but she didn’t really know him. They were same year but he had always exuded arrogance whenever she was around him. Still, she wasn’t in the mood to be judgemental and she tilted her head as he approached her and made some weird comment about something or other. Was he talking about the clouds or the kids?
“Do you mean he looks like an idiot?” she asked. “Or he actually is one?” Strange choice of words, ‘shaped’. Objects were shaped like things not humans. Guy probably knew this lot better than her. “If I’m honest there’s a lot of idiots in this place.” From what she had experienced anyway. Layla felt nothing but loneliness in the school. Nobody else was like her, she missed her girls back home. She missed just being a muggle, being normal. She never asked for this lifestyle and despite the close friends that she had made, she wasn’t sure she wanted to stick around for much longer.
Vinnie was just on her way to the lake when she crossed the courtyard. It was a beautiful day outside,so the brunette wanted to read outside. Just by the lake, under her tree. Of course it wasnt really her tree, since she didnt plant it but she always sat under it.
Just as these thoughts crossed her mind the SLytherin noticed the empty right in the sunlight....and she sat down. The tree had to wait. Opening her book Vinnie let out a relaxed sigh. With uni applications and all the stress she had been under for the past couple of days, or even weeks, a relaxed session was just what she needed. Also, it never hurt to get some sun..maybe it would enlighten her mind.

Bambi was bored. She'd already jogged this morning, she'd eaten, showered, done an essay, owled two of her friends and even managed to get a little bit of studying done before her brain, predictably, decided to power off. She'd managed to crawl her way through three pages of Transfiguration Today when she realised nothing was going to jump start it back into action.
Admitting defeat, the seventeen year old decided to make good use of the rare sunshine outside and hit the grounds. She was on her way to the treehouse thing she'd discovered not too long ago when she spotted a very familiar figure reading a book not too far from her. Bambi grinned and walked over, sneaking up on her friend and promptly covering her eyes with her own, possibly cold, hands.
HEHE.
"GUESS WHO?" she whispered, avoiding using her real voice so as to delay detection.

A few seconds in, Vinnie had gotten into book pretty much. There was one thing that relaxed her the most when she stressed and it was fleeing herself into a different world. An alternate universe where nothing worried her. Or at least nothing that worried her in this world. The sunshine was warming her skin nicely and for once she felt very content.
and then a pair of cold hands covered her eyes. Huh?! When she heard the person to the hands whisper in her ear she chuckled softly. It was a girls voice for sure. Whoooo could that be.....it was not Amelia that was for sure." hmmmm.....who could this be...", she chuckled.

He had done it!! *eek* Seriously he had just eaten the bug. *eek* Angel was really confused about things now, the poor bug hadn't done anything and it ha been eaten. "What did it taste like?" Angel giggled as she looked at her boyfriend. "Was it nice?" Angel really wondered what was going to happen next, she was a bit confused about what Benny would say so just stood there waiting to see.

Bambi was absolutely delighted when she wasn't immediately caught out. The benefits of still being somewhat new, no one was used to her shenanigans. Made for a very fun and exciting life! Giggling to herself the blonde slowly maneuvered so that she was sitting cross legged on the ground behind Vinnie.
"Start guessin' girl 'cause I don't give no clues," she whispered again, the smile evident in her voice as she stopped herself from laughing out loud. This was one hundred times better than being cramped up in the common room with piles upon piles of Charms NEWT revision. Theory was so tedious compared to the practical portions of the exams. BUT, Bambi was officially on Break Mode and not thinking about vanishing charms, the theory behind enlarging and shrinking objects OR the best ways to study without going absolutely bonkers. Mostly she was enjoying bothering her friend and soaking up the sunlight.

It was so funny, sitting her like this, having her eyes covered. People walking by would probably think they were nuts but to be honest Vinnie didnt really care."Hmmmmm....lets see...", she bit her lip trying to think of who this could be. " Not Amelia, she obviously knew her voice. Not James or Penny or Ruby.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
"Is that you Bambi?", the brunette laughed softly, waiting for the answer. it had t be Bambi, the ravenclaw was cute like that. Somehow Vinnie had a thing for ravenclaws. That had proven to be a bad thing...but she couldnt help it. She just made friends with them....and maybe there was hope. Her new set of ravies seemed a lot better too.

It was cold. That wasn’t something that bothered Brooklyn too much. She was getting used to the weather here, as opposed to the weather back in California. The cold wasn’t going to stop her from going outside if she felt like it. There wasn’t the risk of swamps or crazy staircases out here, or house elves taking over her chair in the common room. Not that the house elves had dared take over her chair, but the point still stood. The second year wanted a change of scenery, even though she was still planning on doing the same thing she usually did in the common room. Working on her potion for the workshop could wait.
First she had to find the perfect spot in the courtyard, and a bench near some bushes that she supposed had been rosebushes before winter had fallen looked promising. She had a blanket in her bag, which she spread out on the bench after clearing it off, and then she sat down, curling her legs up underneath her as she pulled Game of Thrones out of her bag. Time for some quiet time, losing herself in Westeros again. Kings Landing, hopefully. She had to remember where she’d left off first.

Frankie was tired of being cooped up in the castle doing pointless assignments that really didn't matter. His housemates said that they needed the points, but the blond knew that Gryffindor was kicking everyone's butt this term. All he had to do was stay out of trouble, which he had been doing the very moment his second year started. So what if a few homework assignments did not get turned in? It wasn't like History of Magic was going to do him any good in the future. The fresh air, on the other hand, certainly would keep him from going insane. He clearly had his priorities sorted out right.
On his way down to the grounds, he couldn't help but grab a handful of snow and make a ball out of it as he trudged through the courtyard. If any of those seventh years tried messing with him, they would be goners. He was a pro at nailing people in the head with snowballs. But so far so good. There weren't any older kids looking for trouble. The only person around was that Andrews girl in his year.
The blond intended on passing by her without a word as he packed the snow in his hand into a tighter ball, but he couldn't help but notice that the weirdo was reading some book that he had never heard of. It was a strange sight to see in the middle of winter. "Don't you think the library would be a better place to read?" Frankie asked, giving Brooklyn an odd look. "That's where all the bookworms go. Not outside in the cold."

Benny was trying to not gag at the whole thought of what just travelled down his gullet to be digested by his stomach. A bug. He had swallowed a bug...on a dare...by his girlfriend. The girlfriend who was currently making various incomprehensible sounds due to his actions as if she was taken by surprise by it actually happening. He might have to admit that in hindsight, he hadn't actually thought he would do it either but it had been a quick movement and bam...done.
It took him a few moments to make out her question aimed to him. What did it taste like? "I...I don't know." Certainly the truth given he hadn't wasted the time letting his tongue with its taste buds look it over. Or lick it over in this case. As for the second question from the younger lion, Ben said the first thing that came to his mind.

"It...was weird."
Angel giggled as she looked at Benny. "Well you should know." Angel stuck her tongue out at her boyfriend, "You really need to pay more attention." Angel giggled, now she had to decide what she was going to do next about a few things.
Angel looked at him as he said it was weird. "Well yeah, I'll give you that." Angel still felt a bit sorry for the bug, it hadn't done anything to her boyfriend and he ate it. "Well now I take it, you get to give me a dare?" Angel pouted, seriously she hadn't been expecting him to do it.
