The castle houses numerous suits of armour, scattered all about, but one of the most impressive collections can be found on the second floor, as if guarding the way to the Headmistress' chambers. Why, even their spacing down this corridor could be a deliberate attack pattern.
Careful what you try with these dusty, dirty, squeaky knights. They can be rather... animated.
Was this the worst kind of punshiment they had? Because it definitely feels like it. There was no way they both could finish all of the suits. And he could have sworn he saw one move, although that could just be the polish getting to him. He understood that they had to be punished in some shape or form. But polishing all of these was way too hard for the both of them combined. There should at least be one or two more students who could be here to help.
Scrub scrub scrub
This was boring. Why wouldn't Gregoire talk to him? Aside from the fact that they got into a fight? Austin needed someone to talk to, it was too quiet here. The only sound came from the washing of the armor and the occasional dip back into the bucket. This was torture, for sure. As far as Austin could tell, it was. There was no way he was going to do something like this again. Couldn't they just write lines?
Scrub scrub scrub.
Dip. Ring. Scrub scrub scrub.
Working at top speed now, Gregoire was just gunning it on the front of the next suit of armour. His arms were now in top speed. The blue eyed fourth year was half tempted to ask the Professor if she had any more sponges. So that way he could cut down the time it needed to take to scrub all these things in half. Scrub scrub scrub. Well, at least the Eagle wasn't trying to make conversation with him still. Thank Merlin. The Slytherin thought to himself. Gregoire was tired of trying to talk nice with the boy. The Claw was lucky he even commented on his question earlier.
Well, it looks like his bucket was almost out of water. There was still enough in there for at least this suit and probably the next, but it would be wise to get some more soon. Did she bring some more? Or do we have to make due with what we have? Hopefully it wouldn't result in him having to cast Auguamenti. Gregoire honestly didn't want to pull out his wand tonight, and get himself into even more trouble.
Austin continued at his scrubbing pace, even when the Snake decided to go faster. This wasn't a race, Gregoire, this was detention. Plus, going that fast will tire you out. The third year knew that, and refused to go faster. In the middle of his scrubbing the back side of the second suit, Austin realized that his water was murky. He was definitely going to need new water soon. Geeze these suits were dirty, He thought. Did they ever get clean? He hoped that the suits appreciated being clean. It would be weird if the suits loved to be dirty, and were dirty on purpose. They were suits of armor for Merlin's sake! They needed to be clean in case of battle!
He wanted to take out his wand and cast the Auguamenti spell to get more water, but he realized that that was probably not the smartest idea. They were in trouble, and were cleaning suits to gain an understanding. They would learn not to fight, and to work together with people you don't like. At least... that's what Austin assumed was going on. For all he really knew, they could just be doing this for the sheer enjoyment of Professor Tanner. Speaking of which, he glanced over to her. She was sitting in a chair, which wasn't here when he arrived, and was knitting something. He pondered for a few moments on what it was. It must be pretty important, for she was very intently staring at it, so he figured now was not the time to ask for different water. Instead he kept going with what he had.
Tiara was not the world's faster knitter, but she was getting the hang of it. Engrossed in her knitting as she was, she was still aware enough to realize that neither of them was the world's most skilled conversationalist. After she had finished a row, she decided to do a quick scan. It looked like they were running low on water.
"Refill time, I'd say." She hoisted herself out of her chair and positioned herself over the buckets. Wand tip directly over the opening of Austin's bucket, she performed a refilling charm; she repeated the process over Gregoire's bucket. "There, you should be good to go for as long as it takes. They will both keep refilling indefinitely." She checked their soap level and sponges, which looked fine.
"Keep going, that first one looks markedly improved." Aaaaaand back to her knitting.
Isla was absolutely sure she wasn't going insane. She had heard noises and right after she said she could defend herself the suit had moved! It had moved! "AHA!" She yelled, squinting at it. Maybe she could use one of these suits to defend her if someone tried to steal a donut. Maybe...
Then she heard laughing and she turned to see Vinnie. She blushed bright red and shrugged. "I was just roaming around and I heard noises. You just saw him move, right? Right?! I definitely did." She said, looking back at the suit and then walking over to Vinnie. "What are you up to?" She asked, careful not to bring up any of the past things that they had just been through.
Vinnie just raised an eyebrow as Isla asked her if she had seen that armor move...she didnt really pay attention to it. But in all the years she had been here she had never seen an armor move. Maybe...only special people could witness it? No matter what Isla was still a special person, a good person. Most of the time. Sigh. Why did she have to think of that again...would it ever stop?! Would she ever be normal again....?" I dont think i saw him move...how many donuts did you have?"
What was she up to.... the brunette wasnt sure she wanted to tell Isla about where she had been. After all she thought Vinnie was just being a little overdramatic...yeah. " I've just been wandering around. Needed to give my legs something to do and what brings you here?"
"Thanks." Austin said cheerfully. He was trying to be nicer to his professors, mainly because he didn't want to do this again. Hopefully if he got in trouble any time in the future, he would do something a little less painful. As time went on, his bucket refilled multiple times, and he had to take a few brakes to keep his arms from cramping up. It was a long and tedious journey that he hoped never to take again. He thought about a lot of things, like his mom and Ophelia. Hopefully they could talk soon.
As he finished up the back side of the last suit, he took a deep breath and looked down the line of armors. He was proud of his work, and hoped the Snake did as good a job as he did. Walking back to the pile of stuff and grabbed the polish and started on the back of the first suit again. And again...
Ravenpuff | Cap'n Crunch | Bedtime Queen | O Minion, My Minion
Tanner looked up again after what seemed like several hours. They were almost done! "Just put the finishing touches on that last one and I think we'll call your debt to society paid, gentlemen." Wow, they barely looked like the same objects compared to before the boys had started. Perhaps they should use this as a detention idea more often.
Gregoire was happy that they just had to finish this final suit up, and they'd be done with detention. Finally.
The Snake would be able to go back to his common room for the night, finish his homework, and relax. Also he'd be able to get away from this eagle...for now at least. Gregoire had something he had to resolve with the boy. They'd finish the duel...at the dueling arena that is. Where it could be a proper fight, fair and square. They wouldn't be able to get in trouble...or would they? As far as Gregoire knew as long as they weren't casting any dangerous spells they'd be fine, right?
Hopefully that was the case.
Finally, Gregoire had finished polishing the front side of the final suit of armor! He was done! Now could the Frenchie leave? He had a vendetta to settle with the Ravenclaw. Putting the bucket of polish down he looked at the Professor and said "There, I am done with the final suit."
Ravenpuff | Cap'n Crunch | Bedtime Queen | O Minion, My Minion
It looked like the Slytherin was first to finish up on the last suit of armor. "Thank you, Mister Bastion. You are free to go." She nodded down the corridor towards the stairwell that would take him to the dungeons. "Have a good evening."
The Snake was free to go at last! It was about time. This took several hours to do, and it was wasted time too. He could've been using this time to do Homework, or study, or even better...take a nap! Boy, did Gregoire need to take a really long nap after what he just did. But he couldn't because the Frenchie had SO much Homework to complete, it wasn't even funny. Grrrr. He also had to talk to Austin after this. Soon too.
To settle the score, and get back at him in a proper way. They would duel until the other would call mercy. This was why Gregoire was glad he was stubborn. He rarely gave up on something. Even if he was told to stop, the Slytherin fourth year wouldn't because of how stubborn and ambitious he was. Bowing his head a little to the Professor the boy told her "Have a good night Professor."
With that being said he walked away back down the corridor to get to his common room.

Vinnie didn't see him move? Was she just going crazy now because she swore she had seen the armour move. Ugh. "I actually didn't have any donuts today." She said, looking back once more at the armour. Maybe it could be that. The lack of sugar is causing her to go crazy and unstable.
"Wandering around? Hmm. I was doing that myself actually. I had seen some cute boys earlier and I may or may not have been checking them out." She laughed a little. It made her feel a bit awkward though talking about boys around Vinnie and it also made her think once more of what they had been through. "Have you been eating?" She blurted out then she quickly covered her mouth. "S-sorry...I just...nevermind. Ignore that."
Austin Moore finished up his last armor with a heavy sigh. This took hours, and he was not pleased with the punishment. Although he was pleased with how shiny all the backs of armor looked. He walked back over to the professor and found that Gregoire had already finished his work. Normally this would upset the poor Ravenclaw, but today he was too worn out to care. Austin wasn't racing, he was trying to finish so he could A) talk to Ophelia, and B) go to bed. Hopefully he could sleep before he found Ophelia, but he knew that talking to her was more important now.
"Finished. May I leave now?" Hopefully she saw how good his polishing was, and he was able to go.

So she didnt have any donuts yet....she clearly had hallucinations. " Maybe we should go get you some donuts then...your body isnt used to being deprived." Well...other than that one time, when they ate TOO many donuts. But Isla had ate enough donuts for months back then. They had felt disgusting afterwards but if her best friend already saw armors move...maybe it was about time.
Ohhhh so Isla had been checking out cute boys...well...that hating on boys didnt last for too long then. The Slytherin tried to shrug it off but something in the back of her head made her feel uneasy at the mention of boys...better not introduce any boys to her anymore. "Found someone...ummm..you like?" preferably taken
.....
"I have yes...wouldnt want to be a little overdramatic you know?" Luckily the brunette was seeing someone now about some issues and it was going well, so far at least.

Isn't used to being deprived? "But I went for months that one time and I didn't have hallucinations, Vinnie. I swear he moved!" Isla looked back at the suit once more. But then again...she could get more donuts and that wouldn't be such a big deal. But still, she wasn't going crazy and she needed to make that known.
Found someone you like? Isla was beating herself up for accidentally bringing up the whole checking out boys thing now. "No, none who are worth it. Just looking is all." She nodded, feeling a bit uncomfortable with the situation now.
"S-sorry. I just...I've been worried about you is all." She sighed. Not having her best friend around all the time basically sucked the life out of her and she had been keeping to herself recently too. "But that's great! You look good." She smiled.

Vinnie laughed when Isla mentioned the donut ....disaster. It was as if she had read her thoughts...well she used to be able to do that. But yeah. used to before stuff. "We should get you some donuts and come back here and see if he still moves." One thing the brunette had learned about food was, if you deprived your body of things it was used to, it kind of created a mind of its own.
Just looking is all. Just how she had looked had Braedon hm? before snogging him . She didnt want to think like that but she couldnt help it. "Oh yeah...well. I think a boy break will be good for you." Boys had caused faaaaar too much trouble in their lives in the recent past. It had to stop.
Oh so she had been worried about her? Right...she hadnt been worried when that thing happened hm...."You dont have to worry. I am seeing someone about it." Or maybe that was too dramatic too. Who knew? The brunette certainly didnt, she didnt know what she could tell her best friend anymore. It was a total lie that Vinnie looked good, she still looked the same and Isla was just trying to make up for what she said. "Thank you."
Her cat-seeking adventures was sure leading her to interesting places around the castle. She had never been to the dungeon before following Mr. Mad, and now she was here, among suits of amour that she swore would come to life.
Carefully, quietly, Amur tip-toed through the line of metal soldiers, the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end. She couldn't shake the feeling that eyes were watching her from behind the guards of the helmets. She couldn't help but imaging that as she went by them, said helmets turned on silent hinges to follow her progress. She wanted to bolt out of the room, but she had seen her prize. A little orange tail peaking down from between the guards of a helmet at the other end of the room. There was no doubt about it. There was a cat there.
Amur only hoped that she could get a proper reading and then leave as quickly as possible.
It felt like forever before she made it to the statue in question, and she stood at its feet, peering up, up and up to where the orange tail hung. It flicked every now and then, as if dimly aware of the other presence in the room. Or, according to Amur's mind, presences.
The rest of the cat's body was concealed inside the helmet. Amur's mouth pressed into a thin line in thought. If she couldn't see the cat properly, then how was she to do a reading on it? She cast about for something, anything that might lend her a foot up.
And then she saw it, a rather decorated saddle beside a suit of armour that looked lighter and more agile than the others. Slipping over to it, Amur glanced between the saddle and the armour before pointing at the leather creation. "I'm just gonna borrow this for two secs, okay? I just need to look at that cat." She pointed over her shoulder with a thumb. "It's for homework." Just in case her motives were questionable.
She hesitated for a moment, giving the statue a moment to speak. It remained as silent as still, and after holding her breath for a long silence, Amur let it out in a rush. "I'm gonna take that as a yes."
And before the statue could try to refute her claim, she tried to pick up the saddle. The thing was heavy. After several more attempts at lifting, Amur elected to a push-pull method, sliding it across the floor and to the cat-statue. Thankfully, the other one didn't come to life and try and stop her. That gave her some faith that this was okay. That it would work.
Getting the saddle into position, Amur then pulled her shoes off. She didn't want to get dirt on the beautiful leather. Then, she climbed on top of the saddle and stood on her tip-toes. Doing so gave her just enough height that she could peer into the dark helmet. There were no eyes, and really it was hard to see anything at all. She shifted her weight to try and get the best angle of sight in the poor light. Then, she saw the cat.
A beautiful white creature curled up in a tight ball within the helmet. Amur smiled and carefully pulled away, stepping off the saddle. She sat down on it and pulling out her book, began to write.

Except that said communication involves rolling about on the dirty dungeon floor, rubbing himself fully against the dusty, mold-ridden stone. I can see no other reason for this but that he likes being stinky, or he's reacting to a very strong stimulus from his inner eye (aka instinct). According to page 97, the 'stretched out' position he is in means that a sunny days are ahead. It must be very sunny, hot days for him to come all the way down here (as if hiding from the surface of the world where the sun will beat upon it), to rub over dirty stones. The forehead against the floor (while he is not sleeping) is similar to the sleeping position and only confirms that a storm is coming. Maybe it's a sun storm? Bombarding the earth with sun rays? Excessive heat? That could be a storm, right? Plus, it's cool down here, so maybe he's trying to say how hot it will be by the location he picked. Thus, it seems that Mr. Mad is a weather cat.
Mr. Metal (aka amour cat): This one was taking a nap in a suit of armor. Really, I don't get it. Doesn't look cozy to curl up against metal, but I'm learning that cats are weird. Maybe it's their openness to their intuition that makes them so weird. Or rather, makes them appear weird. Maybe we are the ones that are weird, not being as sensitive as them. However it works, I just know that pillows are much more comfy. Anyways, Mr. Metal was curled in a ball, which according to page 97 means that things are calm for the moment, but something might change so I should keep alert. This makes me feel a bit better, as I was getting the hibbie-jebbies walking in this gallery. Felt like there were eyes on me. But Mr. Metal says it's good. For now........
Whhhicch means I should probably go before something does happen.
And with that, Amur snapped her book closed, tucked her quill away and tugged and pushed the saddle until it was nearly back in the right spot. And then, she booked it out of the armor gallery, her little legs carrying her at the fastest speed-walk that she had ever done.

Donuts did sound good...but she didn't really want to go to the kitchens today. "I don't know...I think I'm fine without them." She said, looking back over to the suit once again. "I have a box in my dorm though, so I suppose I could eat those."
Isla raised her eyebrow at Vinnie as she said a boy break would be good for her. "It was one time. One time, Vinnie! And a boy break? I've basically been on a 'boy break' for about a year now." She scowled then looked away. It wasn't worth fighting anymore. "Never mind...forget about it."
Vinnie was seeing someone about it? What did that even mean? "Like a nurse? Or a house elf?" She said, trying to make a slight joke in there. She smiled a little and looked away again. Was she doubting her? "You do look good, I promise."
