Welcome to Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop, the feather in Hogsmeade's hat!
Please take a look around at everything and let the Shopkeeper, aka Hogsmeade's Cat Lady, Edina Fairbairn, know if you need any help with anything!
Keep your eyes open and try not to step on any of Edina's seven cats that 'help' her run the shop. They are all very friendly animals and tend to want attention from anyone that comes in the door.
Photos!: product list!
Photos!: About the shop and its shopkeeper
OOC: Do not RP for the Shopkeeper. Remember, all school RPG rules apply. Thanks!

Gabriel Banner had underestimated his own note-taking habits. Clearly, the stacks and stacks of parchment he'd purchased beforehand wasn't enough for a term's worth of diligence. So, that warranted a Scrivenshafts field trip.
...and after the talk he'd had with Professor Quigley, he needed to pick up some leather journals, too.
Peeking around the space, Gabe started with the latter; looking for some basic journals. They didn't have to be fancy. Just functional.
Hmm.

Puck would not have even gone into the store if she had seen Banner in there – heh right. Picking up a selection of quills because hers were, well…bad? Seriously all of the reviewing for OWLs were driving hers to death…seriously they were frayed, broken, leaking inkblots everywhere. Reading a paper was like deciphering a Warshak inkblot test…nearly impossible.
Looking around she decided well…nice was better than not right?
“Banner,” she gave him a little nod of the head because really what would she say? Hey did you get that gift I sent you that didn’t even have my name and sounded suspicious because it was cookies? They were really just cookies.

Pursing her lips when she saw the older BADGED students by the journals (the purpose of her trip) as she stepped inside, Paige ducked behind the stand of scrapbooks and pretended to look at the inkwells while keeping an eye on the two prefects out of the corner of her eye. She knew slipping out with the crowd of Hufflepuff's was risky, but her sister had been the one to encourage her to get out of the castle and away from her "troll hole of parchments" as she so affectionately called Paige's dorm room.
Still...all the bad karma she was earning herself. Triple if the prefects spotted her.

Off to Hogsmeade on the cool morning and the first place he needed to stop was the quill shop because accidentally sitting on all of your quills causing them to break was sort of a problem that plagued Ezra Earnest. His mom had told him in her last letter to stop putting them in his back pocket and that if he kept it up one day he'd accidentally put his wand in there and it would either break or something worse.
Besides that, he wanted to get some cool quills with the money he had won from his bet with Professor Quigley before he probably blew it all later that day with his friends. Entering the shop he walked around the different displays looking for cool and interesting types of quills that lit up, made sound, or had disappearing ink.
It was during this search that he came up behind a girl that looked only slightly younger than himself, with short hair. She was ducked behind a shelf of scrapbooks and staring over at the female Gryffindor Prefect and the Ravenclaw Prefect dude. "Hey!" he said loudly. "Do you like him or something? I don't think Puck's his girlfriend."
OR was she just a SPY? Obviously he couldn't ask her that because she wouldn't tell.

Casually picking up a scrapbook and pretending to flip through the pages, Paige continued to buy her time until the nervous wreck of a Ravenclaw prefect stepped away from the journals. She did not fancy startling him to the point he drew his wand on her again, so she would keep her distance.
And the Gryffindor prefect kind-of-sort-of frightened her a bit. Not necessarily in a bad way, per say, but still kind of scary.
Dropping the scrapbook with a loud thud to the ground, the second year let out a nails-on-the-chalkboard-esque squeak when someone shouted from behind her. Scrambling on all fours briefly, she scooped the book back up in her arms and hid behind the stand so that not even a curl was left in sight. "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Not so loud!" she pleaded with the boy, not even paying attention to who it was as she used the scrapbook to cover his lips. And properly slapped him in the mouth with said item while doing so.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Cilla entered the shop and headed for the shelf that contained the stationary sets. The Slytherin set seemed a perfect buy so she grabbed a set from the self and headed for the counter.
Cilla waited until the shopkeeper was ready before stepping up to the counter.

"What do you want?" It might've sounded unpleasant...but really, it wasn't. Puck Greyvson always had something to say about everything. So, if they could just get that out the way...
...and while she was here...
"Which are more practical?" Gabe indicted the display of journals. She could surely give her opinion on that since she had them about everything. Gryffindors were like that, he'd discovered.

What did she want? She was standing right next to the quills. Wasn’t it kind of obvious? She did however make a point to give him another smile as she picked up a few different quills…a self-inking quill, a spell check quill, the self-correcting quill, and a few everlasting quills enough to get a free quill…maybe she’d get a free fragrance quill? That would be fun.
“Oh more practical?” She asked as she moved over toward the journals. When she saw them she carefully tipped her head to the side as she looked at them. “That one for the diaries is reasonable and ridiculous at the same time” she laughed. “I mean a biting charm and bandage dispenser?” She chuckled.
“I don’t think people will try to read your journal they’d probably know better so…you probably could just get a simple leather bound one…maybe the sketchbook?” She considered “so if you need to sketch something it doesn’t have lines through it?” She offered her opinion in the least opinionated way that she could. And even pet the edge of one of the biting leather-bound journals her self. “I live with gossipy girls, this might be good for me” she admitted with a chuckle.

The smile made him nervous. Girls who smiled at him were typically trying to be evil...and make him have panic attacks. Good thing Zahra had quit on that front...
"Well, it'd need protection but there are spells for that." More efficient ones, too. Gabriel was buying these for a reason, clearly...but he listened to her opinion. It wasn't delivered with as much snark as it usually was. So, that made it easier to handle. Sorta.
>.>
"I'll need eight," he mumbled. The thought has crossed his mind to simply duplicate one...but what if that affected whatever additional magic was placed on it? Gabe didn't want to chance it. This was important business. Should've been taken care of yesterday.

Thunder had a large smile on his face. He hadn't seen his brother in months and apart from the fact that he had almost finished the first write through of a new book, there really hadn't been a single good reason or excuse he had for the lack of contact with one of his youngest siblings. Bad brother.
Sighing slightly, he pulled open the door, and strode into the shop to look for his brunet counter-part. Gazing around the immediate area, he didn't recognise Gabe, so he started to move around the shop looking for a single male, likely with the books or the inks. When that didn't work, he took a better look at the men in the shop - berating himself for not finding him instantly. He usually could spot the Ravenclaw instantly.
....
Gabe was with a girl. Talking to a girl. And he wasn't panicking - though he did look tense and not at all at ease with the conversation. Hmm.
Taking the final few strides over to his brother, he moved towards the tall blonde female who was... actully taller than his brother. Huh. Crazy, Gabe had taken a growth spurt the last time he had seen him and silently, Thunder had wondered if the man would be even taller this time he saw him.
Okay, so it had been too long - they knew this.
Placing his hand carefully on Gabe's shoulder, he squeezed it lightly in welcome. "Hey bro." He said softly, his accent lilting slightly. "How's it goin'?" He said, a small smile curling over his lips as his eyes flitted between Gabe and Puck. "Hi." He added, to said woman standing beside Gabe and the journals.
Oh….he looked like he was in pain or just in awkward…was it her? It probably was. HAH. It would need protection? “Yeah that makes sense because you don’t want people to steal your ideas of course” yes there was a little bite to her tone but it was more playful than anything…
Hello…what was going on? There was a guy staring at them and well…that was weird but weird strangely HOT guy was getting a casual look…he was old though like in his 20’s maybe? So nope. Not happening.
Turning her attention back to Banner she just raised her eyebrow “Eight?” She asked and shrugged. “Yeah get just the leather bound ones then cheaper and you can always use char—“ attractive older guy just called him bro. “Seriously? You have to be kidding brothers?” She asked and looked between the two.
Dark hair…the faces were rather attractive hellooooo attractive guy whose apparently Banner’s brother? Was this place going to fill with Banners? That would make more sense if they were at a sign emporium right? RIGHT? “Hi” she blinked back at the guy.
“Brothers?” She asked, ”Banners seriously?....not fair” she accidentally muttered the obvious truth because hello Banners were HOT.

He didn't bother mentioning the 'Ward' last name, as he didn't want the Gryffindor to ask uncomfortable questions. Ones that weren't any of her business. He quickly collected eight of the plain journals and started for the parchment packs.

Thunder frowned slightly as the woman said that they were kidding. Seriously, she obviously didn't know Gabe very well ... and she had just him... so that seemed far fetched. However as he watched her glance back and forth between them he couldn't help the slight smirk that graced his lips. Gabe looked stressed, though that could have something to do with that stack of journals and the blonde woman who seemed to want to keep pestering him. Hmm, he'd have to keep an eye out for her annoying him while they were still here.
"Nice to meet you." He said, with a charming smile; his blue eyes lighting up as he waved his hand slightly towards her. He took a few steps towards the parchment, as he followed Gabe and allowed him to finish up his shopping before they moved on to get some food and .... peace. He eyed the woman and wondered how long it would take them to have privacy... That was, after all, one of the best things about meeting at Hogsmede.

What? It wasn’t unreasonable to think that Gabe Banner would be buying tons of journals just for his note taking right? C’mon that was a Ravenclaw thing to do – notes, notes, nothing but notes.
Gabe seemed tense…Puck glanced over to the guy and raised her eyebrow wasn’t that Thunder Ward? The Writer? She’d read his stuff the fantasy adventure stuff? “Wait…Thunder Ward?” Puck asked and glanced over between the guys. “Thunder Ward’s your brother? Lucky.” She grinned.
“I’ve read a lot of your books honestly,” She admitted grinning and then she remembered Gabe. Oh merlin. “I know you’re probably going to give me that you read look or comment and I do…” she admitted in a somewhat blank tone like geeeze yeah I have a brain Banner.
“Nice to meet you as well,” she grinned at him….he wasn’t her idol really but he was close when it came to writing skills. Puck smiled at them before shifting where she stood and heading to find parchment and ink because it was needed…OWLs.
“Er…Gabe how many notes did you take when reviewing for OWLs?” She asked in a concerned tone as she really wanted to pass.

Cilla entered the shop and headed for the shelf that contained the stationary sets. The Slytherin set seemed a perfect buy so she grabbed a set from the self and headed for the counter.
Cilla waited until the shopkeeper was ready before stepping up to the counter.
The first customer of the weekend, a little Hogwarts Bug, how precious. Edina made her way down the stairs, three cats trailing behind her as she did. This made her a little slower as she tried to avoid stepping on any of her darling little babies but soon enough she was behind the counter with a smile.
"Welcome! Welcome! What can I do for ya?" Coming to the counter, she assumed this one either had questions or an item (ItemS maybe? Hmmm?) she'd like to purchase. It was only a second later that she noticed the set the girl had with her. Ah that explained it.

That was really loud, horrifyingly loud and for a moment Edina stood perfectly frozen as she listened to the shrill sounds of yet another Hogwarts Student. A cat or two hissed but the woman was much too busy realizing that this one was attacking another with her stationery.
"Now now, there'll be none 'o that in here, young Miss. These items are all to be respected." Did she want to know what she was doing on the floor a moment ago? Maybe... Edina looked to the boy. "You alright then?" No injuries in her shop please.

Busy busy the shop was busy today and it left Edina simply tickled pink. With this many students her little precious could all look forward to that new scratching post.
Had she even heard one saying he'd want eight? Eight what? Business was BOOMING or so she liked to tell herself sometimes when she overheard conversations. Hehe.

They didn't really look much a like, their build was similar - and their eyes were both the same colour... but their hair were completely different. However, that didn't change the fact that they were brothers.
100% as far as he was concerned. Blood be damned.
Not fair... Huh. Smirk. Well, he wouldn't say that it was unfair - but he had realised over the years that there seemed to be a few genes that had lended themselves to the good looks of all fifteen of his siblings. And yes, he did say fifteen. They were all individuals, and mostly hot-headed... but in general he got on with most of them. With so many siblings you would expect to fall out occasionally... at the very least - and they all did that to varying extents and degrees.
However - he was here to see Gabe and to catch up on his youngest brothers news. He's been a rubbish brother lately - and it showed.

"Do you Dears need anything?"
Sigh.
...and THAT...was the other reason Gabe hadn't mentioned the last name difference. It was almost too much to take, watching Puck fawn over Thunder like this. Yes, he was a brilliant writer. He'd sold lots of books...but couldn't she see they had things to talk about? Family conversation, to be polite.
Rude.
...and she was following them to the parchment stacks. Gabe was trying not to be a jerk. Since they did the Prefect thing together, it didn't need to be complicated further by her getting offended. Or by giving her more ammunition to pick on him. Puck Greyvson was good for that. Siiiiiiiigh.
Why couldn't he silencio people again?
"I'm efficient enough." Downplayed, sure...but the questions were getting more annoying than usual. He quickly began selecting bundles, deciding on high quality parchment. It kept the ink better and didn't compromise his color coding...
Hmm.
Gabriel hadn't seen the shop owner at first...but she was offering assistance and he immediately shied away, face coloring brightly. Force of habit, unfortunately. "I'll be ready...in a moment, ma'am." To check out, he meant.

Thunder sighed. He really should have written his books under another name. Honestly, why hadn't he thought about that? Oh. Yeah. He hadn't believed he had any hope in organising one book to sell well, let alone the four that he had realised since he had left Hogwarts. His fifth was with his editor before it would be sent to be published. It was the last book in his current triology and he hoped his readers liked where it had taken him.
"I have a big family. Family can be over-bearing, regardless of their talents." He wasn't lying; even ignoring the Banner side of his family. Though, he made sure to shoot Gabe a small smile. They were different. "And I'm glad you enjoyed my books so far..." He said, trying to step around the conversation without hitting too many snags and uncomfortableness... but truly, he was uncomfortable.
Thunder looked over the parchment and inks and wondered if he wanted anything new for his read-throughs and edits. No, not yet. He still had plenty of ink that was just buying for the sake of buying. Heh.
Looking between his brother and the girl again, Thunder wondered why the girl was following them... but then, maybe they had arrived together. Ah well, no matter they would soon be having lunch and he would be able to ask him about his Prefect badge which Gabe had kept to himself. Oh yes, he hadn't missed it. He smiled at the shop-keeper, nodding when Gabe said that he would be finished soon.
When the lady had turned around to look after the next couple of student, Thunder's face lit up in a face. "Lunch time. Ready for the Broomsticks?" He asked Gabe, really knowing that he would be - after all they always had lunch at the Broomsticks over the Hogsmede weekend. It was their thing, their tradition. Yup.

"Now now, there'll be none 'o that in here, young Miss. These items are all to be respected." Did she want to know what she was doing on the floor a moment ago? Maybe... Edina looked to the boy. "You alright then?" No injuries in her shop please.
"WHAAAAAAAA!" That noise, his ears, had the glass of the windows busted in the shop? "GEEZ. I didn't mean it, I was just wondering why you were acting so weird." Her eye candy was REALLY going to hear her now.
Now she was hitting him.
"OUCH!" Did this really happen? Had she busted his lip. "Hey what was--"
Before the Gryffindor was able to finish his baffled response to being hit in the mouth by a girl he'd never met with a scrapbook, the shopkeeper lady had approached and scolded the girl for not respecting the items. Did she mean boys, like him being ATTACKED?
He just nodded at the woman and looked at the girl with wide eyes.
Well....was she going to apologize to him and this nice lady for acting like a nutcase?
It wasn’t that she was following them – it was that she needed parchment for notes. Efficient enough? “I was just asking as I have got to pick some up myself” she shrugged her shoulder slightly. Seriously. Seriously. Gabriel Banner had a knack for being rude without even trying.
Picking up a packet of parchment she just turned it over in her hand as if inspecting it. “Well, good luck with the books and you two have fun with your lunch,” Puck sent them a quick smile as she selected a few parchment packets and a bottle of black ink.
“I’ll see you in classes and the next planning meeting?” She offered with a shrug as obviously they needed to get things in gear. Yep. Greyvson was getting out of this awkward and heading to the counter.

PANIC!
Paige's eyes widened even further and she would have thrown herself at the boy, both hands covering his mouth to prevent more attention drawing noises from escaping his lips...were it not for the plump like a bouncing bulb shopkeeper making her appearance.
THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T BREAK RULES EVEN IF YOUR SISTER INSISTED! LOOK AT ALL THE TROUBLE SHE HAD CAUSED! BAD KARMA EVERYWHERE!!
While her mind was a hodgepodge of panicky thoughts and terror, her facial expression was completely void of all that. Instead her mouth hung open as she stuttered to say words, ANY words, while she slowly brought the book to her chest to hug it.
"N-n-n-n-n-n-no...m-m- ma'am," she finally spit out while throwing apologetic looks towards both the shopkeeper lady and the boy. Gryffindor, if she recalled correctly. "I mean YES ma'am. I mean..." Oh Merlin why had she come here?! "I love all books and stationary, ma'am. I hope to become a published author someday like my daddy. I was just...I...uh..." She ventured a glance towards the Gryffindor, searching the notebook of her memory for his name and coming up blank in her moment of panic. "...my friend startled me is all. See?" she continued, leaning towards him to wrap her arms around him in an incredibly awkward hug. "Aaaaaaaaall better."

There was just something about quills. Noel had been thinking a lot of quills and people concerning quills. He might possibly be going mad but that was nothing new.
He had originally planned to buy something to send back home. It was celebration time after all. New baby brother and all. But when he had noticed this shop - he had started to think of quills and that one quill that was residing deep in his trunk.
So he had walked in the very empty shop. Was everyone well stocked on quills and parchment?

It was probably time for a journal. One with a nifty biting charm in case any of her dormmates decided they were interested enough in her life to snoop. Yes, that was necessary. It was also necessary to start recording the happenings of her life as they'd started to get interesting. Or maybe complicated was a better word. Either way, when someone years from now came to her begging to be the lucky one to write the story of her long and very fascinating life, Maddie could hand the journal-and eventually journals-over and be done with it. She was really being super helpful to future readers of the world here. You're welcome.
Stepping into the shop, the third year paid little attention to the few shopping about and instead started her search for the PERFECT leather-bound journal. She was picky so it was lucky she had a lot of time.
Noooooope. No no. He was walking out. He was not staying.
When you were the only one in the shop, besides the shopkeeper - you kind of look when the door rings and someone walks in. Certain ravenclaw people he was not talking to anymore. They were finished - whatever it was that they were.
Immediately dropping on the floor so she didn't see him, Noel carefully moved behind the shelf of inks. To leave without being acknowledged, that was the mission.
