The Eagles sit under a beautiful navy and bronze banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. The food will arrive after the Headmistress' traditional feast speech. To all Ravenclaws, both new and old: enjoy the feast!

...at Kate's question, Corrigan turned on the bench and observed the happenings at the Slytherin table.

O___O
Points taken! Detention given! Banished from the feast! Another detention?! Corrigan subconsciously held Kate's arm and may have squeezed it a little as she watched. That professor was definitely not in a pleasant mood. And that ghost over there was yelling a lot, too.
She didn't know what had happened before the hammer came down, but it caused her to lean in close to Kate's ear and confide, "I like Ravenclaw much better."
Kate nodded matter-of-factly at Corrigan's seeing her point of view on the perfects, as well. "I guess only time will tell. I hope they don't get bossy on us tonight in the common room. You know, when all the adults have gone off to their own rooms," Kate said, eyes widening at that thought. Kate had never met any prefects before, so she didn't know what to expect. She did know that they looked a lot nicer than than that one lady over there yelling at the Slytherins. Kate wondered what her class was, because she figured she'd be frightened to even go.
Kate watched as Corrigan took in the sights at the Slytherin house table. She felt Corrigan's arm on hers and instantly things became a little more real. There were things to be afraid of here at Hogwarts, and they didn't lie within the pits of the Black Lake. They sat right next to them at a little place called 'Slytherin House Table'. "Me, too," Kate whispered back, as if they were discussing the most confidential of information. "The only thing we have to be afraid of is getting knowledge-locked out of our common room." Whoa. That was a really cool made-up word she just used!

Oh, no! She'd been caught! If it turned out to be true that prefects were bossy individuals, Kate figured she'd just really done it in for herself. She couldn't decide whether to smile and wave or to just look away and prevent any awkwardness they may try and surface. In the end, she just gave the prefect a small smile then distracted herself by listening to the Grey Lady.

Kate was worried for a second that the ghost would be really disappointed in her. She didn't even know how to say hello in Norwegian. She'd just never had a need to. Anybody she came into contact with spoke English to her. It turned out that the ghost didn't seem to mind that. Kate smiled and said, "I'm guessing that I'll like History of Magic the best. Then Herbology." She nodded at the ghost's favorite subject. "That one, too."

"Professor Belliare went over to sort things out.'' And knowing Bellaire, she would.
"Good. I was wondering if it was just that day so now I wouldn't feel guilty about giving you that one.'' Or anytime later since it was such a habit of his to share his Froggies. "Remember to tell me what's the first question you were asked before you could answer the common room. I've always been glad we've only got to give passwords before we could go into the Hufflepuff one. Imagine if you didn't know the answer... you'd be stuck outside until a House member came along." Heh.
"I've been told that I am.'' Adi tried to look modest. "Er... most of them are. But I don't think I'm one of those... unless I have to be." But Adi preferred to just let students see things by way of reasoning.
Kate listened as Adi described what was going on at the Slytherin table. "I guess what I heard about Slytherin is true then," she said, with a hint of disappointment in her tone. She'd innocently hoped at least some of them would have some goodness to them. She still did. Maybe she just hadn't give it enough time. "Professor Bellaire," she said, repeating the name Adi had just said. "What's she teach?"
Kate pulled her chocolate frog from her pocket and shook her head. "You don't have to feel guilty! I think I might eat this now. I'm starving!" she said. When was the food going to magically appear? She'd heard the feast was amazing! She was just starting to open the candy when Adi mentioned the common room. "Oh, yeah. Corrigan and I were just talking about that. I hope it's not too hard!" she said. "I'll let you know, though."
There was more talk about Adi being a prefect, but Kate's attention was turned away by the sound of the Headmistress giving a speech. The reunion didn't apply to her, but whatever fun event she was talking about sounded interesting. Kate listened to the speech until the very end, and in seconds, the food had appeared! "Thank Merlin!" she said, and without another word, she began scooping some of the food onto her plate.
Noel was looking for Hayley. He hadn't seen her board the train, and he hadn't been able to find ON the train. Did she even come? Did she ditch him and the whole term? Lie to everyone in the family and go see the world? Wasn't that a shared dream of theirs? He felt betrayed.
Noticing Maddie's friend Kyroh sitting, Noel walked up to him and placed his hand on his shoulder: "dude, have you seen Hayley around here somewhere?" he asked.
He was honestly worried.

Upside down Noel.
He hadn't had that many conversations with him......okay maybe two. Two conversations.
But the older boy WAS snogging his best friend.
"No....? Maybe she got tired of waiting for food and her whole stomach just gobbled her up?" Seemed probable. He grinned at the boy.
There was a fair chance Hayley was late, or very late, arriving to her own house table. Not that it mattered much, unless of course.. someone was looking for her. It wasn't until the Headmistress had begun to give her speech that Hayley had realized how much time must have already past, and by then, she had respectfully remained among the gold and scarlet students until said speech was finished, before making a dash toward her own housemates.
And that was where Hayley found Noel towering over Kyroh from behind. Approach with caution..? "Whose stomach gobbled them up?" The fourteen-year-old asked, screwing up her face in confusion. Plopping down by Kyroh, the Diggory girl patted the seat between them. Come sit, cousin?

"That's okay dear. If you ever want to know I'm sure Mr Kitridge can be of assistance if you seek him out in the library." Helena said with a gesture to the man sitting on the staff dais with dark mop hair and navy robes to the right. "Mr Kitridge is the school's librarian and Ravenclaw's Head of House." It was important that all new first years to know who was who.
Corrigan actually had to stand up in order to peer over all the heads of taller students between her and the staff table. It was either that or lean back, and she didn't want to risk losing her balance and toppling off the bench. It seemed important to memorize her head of house, just like it was important to memorize the prefects, Helena, the names of all the new people she was going to meet, where classes were, what order classes were in...
Some part of her quietly acknowledged that she was going to forget something over the next few days, but it wasn't going to be anyone's name!
To Helena, she said, "Thank you. Is Mr. Kitridge going to introduce himself to us?"
It seemed like something a Head of House might do. And something more polite than trusting on other people to point him out.

Corrigan glanced over at Kate, not quite ready to take her eyes off the Slytherin table, "Knowledge-locked? You mean our common room will lock us out if it thinks we're too stupid?"
And for that matter, did the common room grade stupidity according to year, or was it a flat level they had to pass? Ugh, she'd have to start taking a pillow and blanket with her all the time, just in case.
Glaring at the Ravenclaw prefect, Gregoire looked the boy up and down. He doesn't seem like to much. I could probably take him if it came to it.
"I was keeping it down." Gregoire told the boy (Gabe."If you didn't know, there's a huge difference between keeping it down, and being nosy." He finished with a sassy flare. That's right, this French boy could be extremely sassy if he needed to be. This moment right here seemed to be the perfect time to be sassy.
Speaking of being nosy...
Out of the corner of his eye, Gregoire saw a girl (Eden staring at him. Which was an odd thing to do. Considering the fact that they weren't to close, but they were still maybe eight or nine feet apart. Some people just don't know their manners do they? Gregoire though to himself.
Now he sized her up. Once again, Gregoire was confident he could take her if the time ever came to it. Granted it would probably be a two versus one...or...the whole Ravenclaw house versus one...but still, he was confident. Don't get too cocky, though. Gregoire had to remind himself. Thinking about it now, in a 2v1 he probably couldn't beat them.
After all, both of them were older than him. So, hopefully, Gregoire would only have to fight one of them if things started to hit the fan. Just in case things would get a little bit spicy though, Gregoire put his hand on his wand, ready to cast protego at any second.
----------
Setting his gaze back to Austin, Gregoire looked at him with a mix of sorrow and reason. "Let's both be real here. Deep down in your heart-" He said pointing to the boy's heart. Gregoire knew not to actually touch the other boys chest though, and just to point because it would be weird if he would touch the other kids chest. "-you truly like Ophelia. You just have to ignite that spark. I know she will say yes if you'd just ask her out." Gregoire finished, still talking in whispers.
"Take, me and my own girlfriend for example." Pulling out his small locket, he opened it and held it out for the boy to see. "I never though that we'd be dating, but we still love each other dearly to this day. Even though we are 759.8 miles away, we still find ways to make it work." Gregoire began to explain with a shy smile on his face. "Now, instead of this being me and her, imagine the pictures being you and Ophelia." Gripping the locket once more, he close it again.
Playing matchmaker was hard even for a French person! Especially when the two people you were trying to get together are extremely stubborn.

Austin listened to the boy, but nothing he said stuck. What was this boy talking about? Ophelia just told them both that Austin was only a brother. Was this snake deaf as well as annoying? The third year was so confused as to how he could like his dad, if this is what he used to act like. He made a mental note to send an owl to his father.
"You're a fourth year," Austin spat harshly. "What do you know about love? Plus, your girl is hundreds of miles away! How do you know that she's not with another person? Huh? By the time you get one of her owls, she could have found someone better!" This wasn't like him, honest. Everything that had been built up over the summer was starting to pour out. He was angry. Angry at the world, and angry at this Snake. And even if the Snake was in love, there was no way to tell for sure if the same thing was going on here.
Austin's anger grew as the boy poked him. But at the mention of Ophelia, Austin turned to look at her. This wasn't a 'over the shoulder' kind of look. No. This was a 'I'm done talking to you because if you don't stop now, our house is gong to lose some house points' kind of turn. He looked at Ophelia, unsure of what to do next. He wasn't going to ask her out, that was definitely out of the question. She didn't want to be his girlfriend, and that was that. So he just awkwardly stood there staring at The Blonde second year.
She looked awful. But at the same time she didn't. She looked like she wanted to hide and cry, that was for sure. Her crying was the last thing he had wanted. All he wanted to do was to catch up. Maybe get one of her famous hugs that would make everything seem better. But no. Instead Austin Alexander Moore was standing in front of a second year Ravenclaw, who looked as equally as hurt as he felt. She tried smiling and twirling her hair, but Austin knew better than to accept that. Her smile wasn't genuine. It was a cover up. And he knew he had caused her pain, which didn't make anything better. He was the reason she was about to burst into tears in the middle of the Start of Term Feast, and he didn't know why. He just knew it was his fault.
Broken hearted, Austin just stood there, wanting to envelope Ophie in a hug and punch the Snake at the same time.

Oddly enough, Hayden had never been at the Ravenclaw table before. She generally stuck to the Hufflepuff table, especially during feasts, but she'd never been at the Ravenclaw table during any normal mealtimes either. She didn't really have any Ravenclaw friends. There was Maddie, who she waved to, and a few people close to her age that she'd seen around, who she sent friendly smiles toward, but she wasn't really close to any Ravenclaws. She hadn't done that on purpose, she was sure they were very nice people, it had just happened that way. Maybe she should actively attempt to meet more people from different houses. That sounded nice. But that wasn't her goal at the moment - though meeting new people certainly wouldn't be unwelcome. She was there to see and congratulate one specific first year who she didn't know extremely well but had hung out with on the train.
"Hello Ravenclaws," Hayden greeted the table as a whole, as she took a seat across from Kate. Luckily for her there had been an open spot so she didn't have to sit further away, surrounded by people she didn't know. Hayden had already eaten back at the Hufflepuff table so she wasn't too concerned about the food in front of her. That was also why she hadn't joined the Ravenclaws until so late into the feast. Anyway, she turned her attention now to the younger girl across from her.
"Hey," she said cheerfully. "Congrats on Ravenclaw."

He just knew it was his fault.
Broken hearted, Austin just stood there, wanting to envelope Ophie in a hug and punch the Snake at the same time.
Her fake smile turned to real shock as the twelve year old looked back and forth from the third year to the fourth year. Never mind that the latter was currently looking her up and down as if he was attempting to assess her mood. That's what older brothers did, right? Try and make their younger sisters feel better? Make sure they were okay? See? He was always like her older brother. She just had a weird puppy crush on him that needed to stop. NOW. Before anyone got hurt. Well, more hurt.
By the way, who was this Austin? The old Austin never would've yelled these hurtful things at Gregroire, much less in public. Then again, she never seen him angry before, but still. Ophelia was the emotional one and he was the intelligent one. Wasn't that how things always were? This Austin was confusing and upset and she wanted to hug him and couldn't because she was afraid it wouldn't help her be a good little sister to him. Now his hurt was anger and these two looked like they were going to fight and everything was spiraling out of control. Couldn't it be like last year when Austin was happy and they were good friends and no one fought?
"Guys!" She looked back and forth again, the tears threatening to break free at any moment. Steeling herself against them, the small girl made her grey-blue eyes look steely and tried to give them each hard looks. This was less than okay! And somehow, this five foot tall kid with curly blonde hair was going to stop the two taller men from fighting. Somehow. "Stop!" Again, the tears were all prickly, and she tried not to scrunch her eyes much for fear that they would start to fall and make her look weak. She was many things, but the Ravenclaw didn't want weak to be one of them.

So even if he did love her, there wasn't anything he could do.
He was about to turn away from the Snake when he decided they were going to have a little talk.
Um...What?
They had only just met. Austin didn't know this boy, hardly even knew his name. They were never properly introduced, and even in classes he hadn't seen this boy. They were in different houses, and Slytherins were known for causing trouble. He would know, his father was one. The more the boy talked, the more it boiled his blood. "What in Merlin's Beard are you talking about? There is nothing wrong with me. Everything is perfectly fine. I just met you a few minutes ago, if there was anything wrong with me, I wouldn't go to you." Yea, maybe that was harsh. But it was the truth.
He turned to look at Ophie, hoping he didn't scare the second year. He wanted nothing more than to run and hide at this moment, for this was not how he was hoping his first day was going to go. He was embarrassed and angry, mainly at this Snake. Why did he have to come in here and ruin everything? He was perfectly fine sitting here by himself. He was also fine sitting here with Ophie. But this, this was just annoying. "Dude," He said, talking to the boy. "Lay off. She obviously doesn't have a crush on me so drop it." Sure, he would have like to ask her out. But she would easily turn him down, she made that clear.

Ophelia didn't cry. Besides, there HAD to be truth there, even if it was mostly a lie. And there were soo many girls around. Ophelia wasn't even sure she was first on anyone's list, much less Austin's. Problem was, she didn't know really HOW to be sisterly with King-Blue-Eyes. All in good time.
And was she okay? Not at all. Still felt like she was gonna puke and the frustration was getting worse and now there was the nagging feeling of crying she was going to have to deal with. Could she fake it enough to make people think she was? Of course. So the blonde twirled a piece of curly hair around her index finger and smiled. Although there was no way that the smile reached her wide eyes. Taking the goblet from Austin and taking a quick sip, the kid found that the cool liquid helped a little.
WHY WAS HE TALKING TO AUSTIN ALONE? There was no way he was helping her case any and in fact was probably hurting it. Although that would be heard. Although, she did hear Austin say that she didn't like him, so he was probably attempting to help, although now was the exact WRONG time.
Ophelia wanted to walk away and join someone else's conversation, but the prospect of leaving Gregroire alone with Austin would just make everything waaay worse.
Also, offended? Way past offended buddy. Like a million miles past offended. Which, if she had the choice, that's how many miles Ophelia would run away right now. But feast and food and Hogwarts. So thanks, bro. Now if they could disband the conversation and let her curl up in a ball on her bed and sleep, that would be mighty fine. Because she had no idea how she was going to face either of them.
(Way before the fight)
Ophelia smiled up at the elder girl. Listening to the older ones talk was interesting, and the little squirt hoped they could be friends. Or at least people to talk to during the school year.
"I'm a second year. And yeah, I spend half of my time outside. How about you?'"

..........Whatever response had been given, Gabe had missed...as he'd stood to join his Co-Prefect (but had, instead, been accosted)...but the Slytherin continuing to speak to the two Ravenclaws (keepmeclose22, carpediem) proved he had no intention of listening.
Sigh.
See, Gabriel wasn't confrontational or a bully. He was the furthest thing from a fighter as one could be...(which is why he had Gryffindor friends)...but the Slytherin picking on people right in front of him...and making them uncomfortable...Well, Gabe understood that. He'd had his fair share of being picked on, thank you very much. It didn't feel great and gave a complex...And now that he was paying more attention to the scene, the two Ravenclaws looked younger than the Slytherin. And they didn't look to be enjoying the latter's company....
...and then there were tears....
Gabe didn't really have a choice here, did he? Hands were tied...and angst. There was an astonishing amount of angst.
Pulling his wand sneakily (which wasn't at all sneaky because Gabe himself failed at it), he aimed for the snarky Snake boy, and muttered "Silencio." Gabriel did NOT want to walk to the Snake table to get this boy's Prefects....or his Head of House...but he would.
He even stared said Slytherin down...hoping to convey the message without words. You know, since he sometimes didn't do words that well...and this seemed like something better suited for NO STUTTERING.

Did this third year (Austin) seriously just say this to him? Now he was mad! Even though Ophie tried to intervene, the small second year still couldn't stop the now raging fourth year. "Listen kid! I've been trying to help you two by making you guys realize you like each other!" Now he was practically screaming at the top of his lungs. "Now you go, and try to tell me, that my girl may be with someone else?! You don't do that! How dare you..."
Gregoire was now seriously infuriated. You can talk smack about him, but when you even dare bring up his girlfriend, you break a very thin line. With fiery, red hot eyes. Gregoire raised a fist, about to punch Austin square in the jaw.
What if...what if he's right? Gregoire thought to himself. What if my girl is with someone else? All because I made a silly mistake to fall in love with a girl who had to stay in Paris, when I had to go. Now I can't protect her from others. Unintentionally the wound up fist fell to his side. A single tear went down his face. This wasn't a tear of sadness, this was a tear of anger.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw something...a wand come out from the same boy that yelled at him before. The Prefect (Gabe) Out of instinct, Gregoire ripped out his wand, and with the same upward motion of it coming out he said "Protego!"
A dark smirk came across his face. "And you....trying to cast a spell! At me. You make me laugh." Gregoire laughed a bit evilly. "An eagle may be wise and observant, but they're not sneaky. An eagle is not sly. Those are all traits of the snake though." They just unleashed Gregoire's dark side. They have unleashed his inner Slytherin. A side that can be extremely dangerous. A side that you rarely want to see if your the one to unleash it. This side of Gregoire could hardly be controlled.

Austin knew Ophie was right. He knew they should stop, and he would have. If it wasn't for the Snake about to punch him. Austin took a stance, ready to pounce. But a smile crossed his face as the boy dropped his fist. His words had sunk in, and it made him oddly happy. It wasn't a good happy, no. It was one that looked out of place on the third year's face.
"How dare I!?" Austin said loudly. "I don't even know you, and so far you have lied, tried to get in my personal life, and disrespected an elder!" He was referring to the prefect of course. Prefects were to be treated like elders, they were to be respected. That's what his mother had taught him. This snake obviously was never taught that. But he was taught to fight, apparently, which was something his mother also told him not to do.
But his mother wasn't here. Austin pushed the Snake, not caring who saw. Yea, he'd probably get in trouble, but what did that matter? This fourth year needed to be taught some manners. "Don't you know anything? Don't disrespect prefects. Or was respect not something they taught in France?"
With every word he spoke, the thought of Ophie was in the back of his mind. She would probably get in trouble for this, her sisters would never let her live this down. But he would defend her for as long as they were friends, and even longer than that. He would make sure she didn't get in trouble, and if she did, he would have to make it up to her. But that was a different problem for a different day. Right now, he had a Snake to worry about.

But that was a different problem for a different day. Right now, he had a Snake to worry about.
As Gregroire pulled out his wand, Ophelia took a couple of steps back, falling onto the bench again. The twelve year old had never seen a wand pulled in anger, and it was terrifying. And in the middle of the Great Hall? Her yells had been ignored by him, obviously, and all that was left to do was for the fight to escalate. And the small girl was caught in between. Could they just not do this? She loved both of them, Gregroire like a brother and Austin.... well, like an Austin. And now she was watching the two men argue and fight. It was too much. A tear slipped out of the floodgates, and the Ravenclaw thumbed it angerly away. She wasn't going to be a bystander. Something had to happen.
And Austin had completely lost it. He was yelling, Gregroire had yelled and she was flinching at their words. The elder boy had almost thrown a punch! That's it, she HAD to attempt to do something. There was no more sitting by. There was a fight brewing and even though her parents were going to be angry, it was not the time to worry about parents. It was the time to worry about them hurting each other and getting expelled. All of them getting expelled. Hopefully someone in her family would understand.
Springing up from the bench, the blonde took a running start and pushed Austin back a bit. Thank Merlin for her arm and leg muscles, or the kid would've been completely unable to do that. Taking a few steps back, she tried to talk to him, hoping that he would listen. Another tear tried to budge from her eye. She furiously hoped it would listen and stay where it belonged.
"Austin, stop! This isn't you! You wouldn't do this! Who cares about Gregroire? He's just a flea! He means nothing! Don't let him annoy you!" And then the blonde turned around, her blonde hair hitting hr in the face.
"Gregroire! Stop! Go back to your table already! You've done enough damage without getting into a fight!" There had to be some courage she was digging straight from her toes at this point, because there was no way she would do this normally. But years of being the youngest had taught her one thing, and that was when crap hit the fan, she still could fix it. Sometimes.
And the Prefect? She was kind of on his side? Smiling at the older boy, the Ravenclaw looked back at both, trying to save what could be a great disaster on the first day of school. It was either save it or watch it happen, and the twelve year old girl was not going to let this just happen. She loved both of them too much.

Clara was not one for confrontations, nor did she often feel the need to get involved with other people's business ... okay, that last bit was a lie, but right now her blood was boiling. So much so that she couldn't even focus on the arrival of Rorie and Damien to the 'claw table. They could wait. She knew they didn't have any interest in her, anyway.
As for her own interests, they were currently focused on a rather LOUD argument between Gabriel and an unknown Slytherin.
Spells were being cast.
Usually, this situation would leave her anxious and unable to do anything of use, but for unknown reasons only few of those signs were showing. She was shaking and her palms were sweating, but other than that, she felt completely focused. While watching and listening, Clara slowly approached. Now, as a Prefect, she knew Gabe could handle the situation perfectly fine, but ... Clara was never a patient one. She tapped the Slytherin's (Gregoire) shoulder. "Excuse me. That's no way to speak to a Prefect." From her tone it was obvious she wasn't messing around. Despite her short height of 5'3" and reluctance to use physical violence, she could be a force to be reckoned with potentially. She could feel her panic growing, but she stood her ground. This was their table and her friend.

Reason: yay, grammar
Gregoire was now extremely mad, first of all, he just got pushed back by a third year, then got called a flea by Ophie. Which now made the situation even worse. If he could he would throw Ophie away somewhere. Not to harm her. But to protect her. So that way she wouldn't have to witness what was about to happen. Directed towards Austin, the french snake screamed "You little ignorant kid! Don't you even dare talk to me about disrespect! If you were wise like a Ravenclaw was supposed to be you'd know-!"
WHAT WAS THIS!?
Gregoire's mouth was open but no sound came out! Glaring at the Prefect, Gabe, his rage was now directed towards him. Putting a hand on the smaller eagle that just showed up Clara, he gently pushed her out of his way. With hands clutched so hard that his nails dug into his skin and made them bleed, he glared at the Prefect. With his eyes he said 'You'll pay for that'.
After the glare, the semi-muscular, 5'6" French fourth year charged at Gabe out of pure anger. His arm over his chest, head tucked down. Like a linebacker, he aimed to slam the other boy into the table. This should teach him a lesson...to never silence the snake. Once you made Gregoire mad, there was no telling could happen with this unpredictable kid. Let's just say, you'd never hear the end of this.
Gregoire rarely makes enemies...but today...he just made one.

Gregoire rarely makes enemies...but today...he just made one.
Austin was surprised when Ophelia shoved him away. She was a strong for someone so small. His stutter only lasted a few minutes before his rage took back over. "Ophie, this has gone beyond anything. He has now disrespected our Prefect. This is about something much more now. And I don't want you to get hurt." His words were spoken with a yelling tone, but there was sincerity behind them, and he hoped she could see that.
A smirk grew across Austin's face as the Slytherin couldn't speak. He wanted to high five the prefect. That's how you handle this! But there wasn't any time for celebration as Gregoire ran at the older Ravenclaw. If this was how the French boy handled his anger, than he was the unwise one. Which was fitting since he was in Slytherin. Ravenclaws were the wise, Slytherin were... well they were the snakes.
This ends here. Thought Austin.
The lanky 5'5'' Ravenclaw ran at the fourth year full force, hoping to at least knock him off course. He made contact, that was for sure, but what happened after that, was a blur to him. He wanted to punch the boy harder than anything. He wanted to make this boy pay for calling him dumb, and disrespecting the prefect. This boy knew nothing. It didn't matter that he was a fourth year. Austin knew more about life that this boy. He had spent the whole summer taking care of both his father's shop and his younger sister. He had one friend, and they saw each other once in the whole year. His whole summer full of anger at life was about to be taken out on this boy.
He balled up his fist and took a swing for the boy in the green robes, aiming for his cheek.

She'd never been in a situation like this before, it was crazy. The boys were using physical strength ... something she didn't posses and something didn't think Gabe would use. She didn't know what to do, but she felt she had to do something. Anything. Charms were good in theory, but in reality ... she could get in serious trouble, but she couldn't see anyone else coming to help. The time it would take to run to the staff table ..... someone could get hurt. Gabe could get hurt.
More hurt, rather.
Seeing him being struck down set something off inside her.
She tried to assess the situation. Her logic was telling her to go to a teacher, but her insticts were telling her to prevents them for causing more damange. She'd seen enough of it in her time. With that seemingly decided in her, disrarding any possible consequence. Clara raised her wand and pointed it at the two boy, and unfortunately also Gabe, and shouted her spell. "IMMOBULUS!"
She had no idea what was going on. Absolutely none for the fact that a student, one of her OWN, was charging at the Ravenclaw Prefect like a bull. For Fawkes' sake! He was a Slytherin not a Gryffindor! What was going on with her snakes? Was there something in the water? Had their table been lathered in some kind of potion that made them lose their wits?
Slytherins were looking bad tonight and it was making the Prefects -- especially her, she didn't care about Caleb -- look bad, as well.
No more.
Stomping toward the Ravenclaw and rolling up her sleeves, Beverly withdrew her wand. Oh, look, another Gryffindor wannabe. "Hey!" She wasn't going to use it at anyone, not yet at least. "Stop this right now!"
All of them. She wasn't afraid to use a bit of fist power, but...house points were already precariously on the line. Beverly expected the Slytherin to back down.

He was about to head into his summer, but he spotted Penelope headed their way. Waving to her, he grinned when she sat down.
"My summer was good. I practiced my cello a lot. Did some reading. Paige came to visit. Spent time with my little sister." He shrugged. "It was pretty quiet. What about yours?"
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the Grey Lady, and remembered the awkward way he had greeted her last term. "Good evening, Lady," he offered with a nod. "Thank you for your welcome back." No awkward attempt at a handshake this time.

You should ask your parents to send you pictures." Thornton didn't exactly remember Mairwen growing so quickly, but they'd been looking at photos this summer and Thornton thought it was kinda astounding how big a difference even a month or two made when she was an infant.
"Oh, you don't know Paige?" Thornton twisted to see if he could spot her in the hall. "She's a Hufflepuff. Curly hair." Thornton gestured to his hair and twisted his finger. "Penelope, you know Paige, don't you?"
If not, there were introductions to be made!
Thornton smiled as she remembered him. "I did, thank you. And yours?" He supposed she just remained around the castle, but perhaps it was nice to have it free of students for a few months.

"And she's really little." As in, he couldn't even play with her yet or anything. Which kind of sucked.
He pulled his attention away from Thornton as Penelope sat down. "Hullo Penelope!!" He hoped her fingers were okay from the train ride, and that she had remembered to pick up her wand.
Turning back to Thornton the third year grinned. Cello? Little sister??"You have a little sister too?" They should start a big brother club! With Dot! Even though she wouldn't be a brother but still! "Who's Paige?"
It was at that moment that the Grey Lady chose to arrive, Kyroh waved slightly, but hesitantly. He still wasn't sure about her after she had given him a stern warning against saying TRUE FACTS about his Head of House.
Oh yes, she knew Paige. "I know Paige. Second year Hufflepuff. Likes polka dots." Not to mention that they were going to be working on something together. She might tell Thornton about that later, but not yet.
SPOILER!!: mainly Gregoire and Austin

So, he knew how to better deal with that sort of thing....which still wasn't that well, truth be told...but was much better than what these two younger Claws were doing. He didn't cry or scream. So, that was something?
Steeling himself, he took some deep breaths to make absolutely sure his voice didn't crack, waver. AND he was MUCH more careful this go around about making absolutely sure the Slytherin did not see the motion.
"Silencio."
He meant it. Stop talking.

As for her own interests, they were currently focused on a rather LOUD argument between Gabriel and an unknown Slytherin.
Spells were been cast.

A smirk grew across Austin's face as the Slytherin couldn't speak. He wanted to high five the prefect. That's how you handle this!

Cool status: zero.
What in Merlin's beard was going on over there? No, no, no. This was not okay. Penelope got up from her seat to investigate what was happening.
She had a few different options here. Do nothing, get involved in a fight here, or get help. As much as she wanted to hex this Slytherin boy, she didn't feel like it was the right thing to do, and it certainly wasn't worth all of the points that she could lose. Oh no, there was physical violence now. That would not do. It would have been preferable to go to the staff table and get Mr. Kitridge or someone immediately, but she was with Clara on this one. Penelope drew her wand and aimed at the slytherin boy (Gregoire)."Immobulus!" And one for Austin now that he was fighting with the Slytherin boy. "Immobulus!" Now was probably a good time to go find Mr. Kitridge.

Cool, another older student. Using the tired and true method of... Yelling. No offense, but that wasn't going to help much. She had tried that forever, and it was drowned out very quickly by everything else. Was she ticked off that these two men were fighting? Yes, they were acting like children. Annoying children. Now Ophelia knew what her brothers and sisters went through when the twelve year old lost it. Which, she was close to losing it now, by the way. Thai all went from joking --mean joking, but joking-- to actual punching in like three minutes flat. Adrenaline was pumping through her at the thought of the two men closest to her pummeling each other. Something had to be done, and if the youngest had to protect someone, she would try to protect them. The kid was only five feet tall, but she was annoyed and NOT having this.
"Thanks, but I already TRIED that! Yelling doesn't work on these idiots. What we need to is get anything they can hurt each other with out of their reach. Trust me, I've been screeching myself hoarse. Look at where it's gotten us." Yes, she was getting sassy with a prefect. But you can't come in here yelling stop. Hasn't she been paying attention at ALL? Sending a look the Prefect's way, Ophelia watched the olde students use spells and hope to everything that was good in the world that nothing hit her. Because there was a lot of things happening and it was hard to keep up.

Just as he was about to make contact with the Prefect, Gabe Gregoire was tackled to the ground. Through all the commotion he could see it was the ignorant third year, Austin! How dare he!
First, he breaks his best friends heart by saying that she's like a younger sister. Second, he goes and brings his girlfriend into this whole entire mess. Now he does this. With wide eyes, Gregoire's rage was now focused on him. Ouch! Then he punched him straight in the cheek! Grabbing the wrist of the fist (hehe, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it) that just made contact with him, he slammed it into the concrete floor. Hopefully that should teach this one another lesson.
Using what little he learned in martial arts, Gregoire slithered out from underneath Austin. Not listening to his own house prefect, Beverly, he got on top of Austin's chest. One hand pressing hard against the kids arm, and the other one raised, clenched in a fist to punch him directly in the jaw. Just before he made contact though, the immobulus spells finally hit him.
This was just great! Now he couldn't punish the Ravenclaw who hit him! Thanks a lot bystanders! Didn't any of them know to get a teacher?? Or was everyone else like him? And they all liked to fight? In which case, Gregoire wouldn't mind that. He wouldn't mind at all.
Now thinking about it, he also didn't mind the fact that nobody was getting a proffesor. He didn't want to lose anymore points for his house...or even worse...get expelled! Now thinking about it, why did he have to get himself into this mess. Blood running from his hands, mouth, and nose, Gregoire just wished he could start this over.
A single tear...a tear of sadness ran down the Slytherin's cheek.
Austin was proud of himself when he connected with the fourth year. He hadn't been in a fight before, and he had actually done something. But that feeling slowly left him as the boy was on top of him. His head hit the ground, and he could feel something wet on the ground. But whether it was his head bleeding, or something they had knocked over, he didn't know. He grunted from the pain in both his head and his wrist as the boy pinned him down.
He knew what was coming. It wasn't hard to figure it out. The boy was about to punch him. Austin was ready though, because he deserved it. He was a horrible person who made people feel terrible, and he deserved to be hit.
He was waiting......
Was this boy really so bad at fighting that he couldn't even hit a boy younger than him? Austin opened his eyes to find that the boy was unable to move. This was Austin's time to strike! He was ready to punch him again in the face, when he found he couldn't move his own arms. What was this nonsense? Any wizard could tell that this was the work of the immobulus spell, but he was too shaken up to know what was going on. All he knew was that he couldn't move, and he didn't like it.

What......was happening?!
Talk about escalation to the max...
All Gabriel had done was Silencio! the Slytherin for being rude and a bully...but then said Slytherin was charging at him...and...Well, he'd grown up in a house with seven older brothers; instinctively backing away from the angry boy and moving his hands up to cover his face...
.....BUT then a lot had started happening at once. All hell breaking loose, if you will...
Spells were flying from Clara and Penelope and Beverly had joined them...and that same quiet Third Year from before had tackled the angry Slytherin in his defense...
"Ex-pelli..uh, armus." Gabe paused to clear his throat, feeling lightheaded from the sudden combustion of his House table. He'd been tasked with handling situations...and he was trying here! "Expelliarmus!" Everyone just needed to STOP, okay? There were too many people in this room and someone could've gotten hurt by wayward magic. Snatching the wands out of the air jerkily, hands sweaty, he looked to Beverly. It'd have been a safe assumption that by the look of panic on his face, he was about to snap.
SPOILER!!: This!

They...were casting on her Slytherin. He deserved it for being an idiot, she knew it, and she would have thumped him, too. But...something was happening...inside her chest or stomach or...somewhere.
She was...feeling...stuff.
It wasn't a heart attack. She was far too young and healthy for that. No...it was not that. It was a feeling of...wanting to shield the Slytherin with her robe? Was that the feeling? She didn't know and there wasn't time to process her feelings.
Switching her gaze momentarily at the Ravenclaw blabbering at her, Beverly simply gave her an unimpressed look. So what, child? She wasn't going to risk her neck for an idiot, even if he was from her own house, even if she felt like...protecting him.
UGH. What were these feelings?
She was glad Gabe hadn't disarmed her. That would have started another fight because a witch should not be disarmed like that, at least not HER. She did shoot him a grateful nod for it. No more casting on her Slytherin...
...Who was on the floor and...crying? She wasn't good with tears. GROAN. Gripping her wand tight and keeping her gaze on the 'Claws, she crouched next to her housemate.
"See what happens when you don't think straight?" she hissed. They were going to have a word later, yes. "I'm going to free you but if you try anything stupid again..." She'll let him finish that with his imagination. Taking hold of his arm, not too tight but firm enough to hold him back if he dared do something else, Beverly cast, "Finite."
And if he did try something he wouldn't be worrying about the Ravenclaws. She wasn't going to risk more points loss.
Somewhere beside her, Kate heard Corrigan start to talk, but it was within that exact second Kate happened to catch sight of another badge, this one on an older girl. "There's the other one!" she said to Corrigan, with the same amount of excitement she'd shown for the boy prefect.
Oh, yes. She saw and heard that.
Coral grinned as her hazel eyes caught sight of a new Ravenclaw girl who seemed to be staring at her. The brunette gave a little wave, not wanting to shout over everyone who was enjoying themselves. She made a mental note (as well as a quick scribble on a sticky note) to make conversation with young girl. And her gaze continued roaming...

Helena was expecting an answer from Ophelia when she became a witness to what could be the beginning of a spectacle since the boy in Slytherin robes seemed to be an evil tease. A feast was not the right place to flaunt someone else’s crushes. It was not appropriate. Helena glanced over at Coral-Bay and Gabriel giving them both meaningful looks in this trio’s direction. They better be, watching this scene unfold, and if the two claws lost their minds then Helena expected the house prefects to act or she would.

He did stand to join her, though...as she surveyed their house table.
She was going to be brilliant at this.
....and the Grey Lady was speaking to them. He flushed brightly at the praise, ducking his head for a moment. No, he didn't see how he was a good choice....but..."Thank you."
Catching a wave out of the corner of her eye, she was momentarily distracted and completely missed Gabe coming up beside her. Was that.... Yes, that was. It was the Grey Lady herself. A light blush rose to her cheeks and she curtsied for the ghost, a smile spreading from ear to ear. "Thank you very much, ma'am!"
Upon lifting her head from the curtsie, CB caught sight of the boy, blush intensifying a bit, the warm feeling spreading.
.........

....
But that didn't last long. Chaos seemed to break out before the girl's eyes, her formerly soft expression turning into harsh glare over the Slytherin boy who'd decided to start an entire fight. It was bad enough he'd been shouting and bullying younger students while her back was turned but now this???
Not only had the boy made the younger girl cry, he was now casting spells left and right and attempting to tackle people? .......
.....
Attempting to tackle GABE? A prefect, no less? Was he trying to get detention? Because Merlin's fuzzy beard, he was doing a really stand up job of it.
And now students from her own house were doing the same. Tackling. Throwing spells around. Merlin. Oh Merlin. Oh my.
She approached the group, pulling her wand out, stepping in line with Beverly, the Slytherin Prefect, who'd just appeared. "Everyone stop. Right now." Calm. Her voice was low, sharp, not up to it's usual warm, softness; a long hard look for the two boys who were now wandless, thanks to Gabe, as well as immobilized thanks to Clara and Penelope.
Her gaze roamed the table again, making sure no students got hit by anything that went wayward. But it looked.... like everyone was fine. And Penelope had gone up to the Staff table, she could see that.
Quietly, she approached the two immobilized boys and cast, "finite incantatem," pulling the ravenclaw boy away from the Slytherin one.
"Are you two done now?" POINTED LOOKS.

Wut? It looked handled. Handled enough anyway. It didn't matter, because Ophelia was DONE. Done with these two idiots and the fight and the Prefect who was giving her a look. To be honest, she wanted out of the Great Hall. Because too much was happening. And her night and her relationship with Austin was ruined. Or what could've been a relationship. They were going to get in trouble. Ugggh. Her two favorite boys were idiots.
Stepping towards the boys, she sighed. "Right now, I absolutely hate both of you." And without a second look back, the blonde sat in Austin's spot and took a deep breath before knocking the half full goblet Austin had handed her off of the table. Tonight was a lot of drama that everyone could've done without.
