Airey was tempted to retract his hands immediately when he saw the way the young man was looking at them. Being one that did not fancy his own personal bubble being invaded, he could understand this. Until he started babbling on about auras and everything else.

Airey blinked in total and complete confusion for a few long moments as he tried to make some sort of logical sense about what the boy was speaking of. Star Wars? Was this boy a fan? Although that made the astronomer think of the aura of uneasiness and that was far from what side of the force he would align with...perplexing. Very perplexing.

"Well, since you asked so nicely, my young Padawan learner," he nodded while trying to do his best Jedi master face. "I shall do as you ask and teach you the way of the, er, Flamsteed." Well, his Flamsteed anyway - which would make Daphne want to hex the young man into oblivion. "First thing a true master of the Way must do is always look clean and with a freshly pressed uniform. Even better if you wear a suit under your uniform or on days where you are not required to wear your Hogwarts robes." He paused for a moment, removing his hands from the boy's shoulders officially now...and figured he might as well have a little fun with this on the off chance that the boy was over the top serious. Plus, he just enjoyed giving Leobald a hard time. "And you must be fully versed in Star Trek. There may be some historical documents in the library you can investigate. But be warned, the librarian must not know that you are learning the way of the Flamsteed or else terrible things may happen. So you must be secretive and stealthy when you go seeking information."

Old habits died hard indeed. The astronomer folded his arms across his chest and he tried not to make his eye rolling too obvious. Did Maddox realize he was still playing into the man's hands? Did he? "Check the ropes? I don't believe I've seen you even approach the platform just yet, good sir," he chuckled with a bit of a twinkle in his eye. "Bit difficult to check such a thing from a distance, wouldn't you agree?"

"Obviously you do not know the difference between courage and foolhardiness. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” Cue another look towards Maddox, a sympathetic one...of sorts, but an eager look nonetheless. "Gryffindors are scared, Mr. Hirase, and perhaps will feel that fear the most...but that is also what makes us the bravest. We overcome our fears."

And this was all far too heavy for a party...and thus he took another loooooooooong sip from his hot chocolate...and nearly chocked on a marshmallow.

"All gone?" he asked, taking a few steps towards her. That was A LOT of chocolate frogs to have been eaten so quickly! "None of them escaped, did they? They leave the worst sort of mess when they melt on to the tapestries and carpeting."

Checking his sundial watch for the time, the professor set his mug down on one of the side tables and rested himself on one of the empty sofas. It was getting a bit late and he probably should head back to his own quarters soon before falling asleep...

...but his eyes were already growing heavy and the sofa was just so comfortable...

At least September first fell on a Saturday this year. Everyone could recover tomorrow before lessons began on Monday.

It was a pretty fancy tradition. Only that it wasn't really a tradition, but no need to go giving away that information. Not a professor? Were her ears deceiving her? AJ ha to admit that she had paid zero attention to the staff table at the feast, but she was pretty sure this man was a professor. What else would he be?

A caretaker? AJ snorted at that. "We have a healer already." The lion was pretty sure she was still here. "Oh, you're like a caretaker for the bungee jumping company." It wasn't a question. AJ did not believe that for one instant, but why not have a little fun?

Now, enjoying the food was a fine thing to do. A fine thing to do, but that didn't compare when you could jump out a window. "Not afraid of heights, are ya?" That seemed to be painfully obvious, but AJ like to get jabs in at people. Couldn't get in trouble from the man who claimed he wasn't a professor... that would be deceiving. Mmmhmm.



Hold the unicorns... was Airey agreeing with both her and Kevin? This was why he was the best head of house ever. AJ knew he seemed happier than normal. Plus, Airey agreeing with them pretty much confirmed that Maddox was a liar, liar, pants on fire. He had to be a professor. AJ winked at Kevin, and to be clear this wasn't in a "I want to run off with you into the sunset" kind of way, but more of a "we're in this together and I totally have your back" way. There was a difference, you see.

AJ laughed along as Kevin torturted the new "caretaker" further. This was the kind of fun she could have when Adi wasn't around. She hated thinking that she would be getting him in trouble and making him uncomfortable. The older boy did have a point though. "Perhaps you should party with the claws next time." They were sure to have their noses in a book.


That was probably the cutest name ever for an elf. ”Hi Toddles! I’m AJ.” Manners were manners no matter who you were speaking too. Her thoughts went back to the conversation she had with the creatures professor about owning a house elf, and well the outcome was pretty grim.

She wanted to snag this elf and take him home with her. Would anybody notice that he was missing? Better yet, would the baby elf be able to stay out of mischief long enough for her to sneak him on the train at the end of the term? ”How do you feel about getting a new mama, Toddles?” No need to frighten him so soon.



You know, AJ really didn't care what Abby wanted to do with her time. That was probably not the best attitude to have, but that's how she felt. Angel always wanted to talk and make up, and AJ was a more of "whatever happens, happens" kind of girl. "Abby can do what she wants to do." AJ said with a shrug. The lion didn't even know who her boyfriend was.

No bungee jumping? Was this the Gryffindor house or what? It seemed like more that half of the people weren't interested. What was this life? "You're missing out. I'm getting some of that action."

Angel was always missing her. "I'm pretty awesome so I can understand that." she said with a smile. "We will be seeing lots of each other this year so you don't have anything to worry about."


Finally somebody seemed pumped to get this show on the road. ”That’s the spirit. The line is right over here,” she said as she pointed closer to the window. It wasn’t much of a line considering everybody was being duffers.

”Wanna watch me go first?” Show you how it was done. What a sad day it was when she had to bungee jump with a professor instead of her friends, and sister. If only Adi was a lion, she knew he would be down.



Awww…. AJ caught sight of the blush, but she acted as if she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. No need to embarrass her further. “No problem,” she said with a wave of her hand. AJ really didn’t mind helping out. She had been a first year before too, and knew that Amur had to have a million questions brewing in that blonde head of hers.

Of course the first question the girl asked was one that she wasn’t sure of. You see what happened when you didn’t pay attention to the announcements at the feast? AJ thought about this for a moment. The new Charms professor was a dude so that knocked out Moxley. It had to be the guy that claimed he wasn’t a professor. ”It’s that guy over there.” AJ pointed her finger over to Quigley. ”He’s new and seems to be quite the storyteller.” So, she did warn you okay. Don’t take any crap, young lion.



It was hard to screw up prefect things, right? Well, that would be super easy for AJ to do because she so was not prefect material, but Zander on the other hand was. He was perfect for this role. ”I don’t think you have anything to worry about because you are a naturally good person.” Did that make sense? Like AJ was a good person, but she didn’t always make the “best” choices or so she had been told. It was amazing that she had managed to stay out of trouble for as long as she has. That wasn’t the case for her when she was in muggle school. Wizards were totes more tolerant.

Was she making him nervous again? She did have that sort of reaction when she dealt with the shy or more reserved people. AJ beamed at him. ”That sounds perfect.” She would be hunting him down sooner rather than later. Plus, he pretty much gave her an open invitation to bombard chat with him anytime she would like. That was another reason why being a prefect may not be such a great thing. People could be too much with their questions or complaints. Not Aj though. Nope, he had nothing to worry about when it came to her. Study area? That didn’t sound like fun to her. ”Ah, it’s your owl year. Total bummer. It was Adi’s too, and AJ was going to try to help him study.

”So much fun, and I am totally having a go at that.” Like as soon as possible. Like as soon as this conversation was over. Yup.



Zeke was only the second person she had talked to so far that seemed to be pumped about jumping out of a window, and it was downright refreshing. ”Me either. I bet the other houses are doing super lame stuff.” Bungee jumping and other fun stuff was reserved for the lions. ”Could you imagine a Ravenclaw bungee jumping?” The thought of that made AJ laugh. They would probably have to read up on it FOREVER before attempting it. If they attempt it at all.

Puck got a smile and a wink. AJ had faith in her, it was just that she had some pretty big shoes to fill. Plus, AJ was pretty partial to Lex, but we will just have to see what this year would tell about her prefect skills. AJ just hoped that she wouldn’t be too strict.

Big mistress wanna talks to Toddles. Why mistress wanna talk to Toddles. Toddles do no wrongs. "Toddles meets mistress in kitchens?" he asks.

Toddles sees another mistress. Toddles does not knows. Toddles does not knows lots of peoples. "Toddles likes cookies mistress. Toddles loves cookies.." he reached out his little hand and grabbed the cookies. Yes he dids. Toddles learns names. Toddles knows some studentsies nows. Toddles sees hands. Toddles knows not what to do. Toddles never shakes hands. No Toddles don'ts. Toddles bows yes he does. Toddles bows towards mistress.

Toddles knows another mistress name. Toddles meets new peoples. Toddles likings this. New mama. Toddles not knows such things. "Toddles gets new mama?" he titled his little head. Toddles not knows this. "Toddles mama is Nimma." That Toddles knews. Toddles likes mama.

Toddles tooks masters (Airey) sayings. Toddles bows to masters and Toddles mays plays somes games. Toddles loves games. Toddles moves his little feetsies towards the games. Hopefully studenties will teaches hims how to play. Yes he does. Toddles wants learn.

Masters (Zander) believes little Toddles. Toddles smiles and ish happies. Toddles not steals cards. Toddles justs likes chocolate. Toddles loves foods. "Toddles not steals masters." Toddles keeps reminding masters. Masters not listens. Toddles will takes what Toddles wants.

Damien chuckled as the other boy began to cast off his question, only to pause mid word and begin again, admitting his exhaustion, a fact that was easier to spot than a Fwooper. “I’ll bet, dude. Can’t be easy trying to keep everything sorted… Not with all this shiz happening.” Damien said, handing the other boy an unopened bottle and taking another sip of his own.

His eyes were watching the party, but Anderson-Belfort was listening, and it was nice, comforting to hear that he wasn’t the only one who worried about his place amongst the Pride. “Other people did? That’s so uncool.“ One thing Damien couldn’t stand was people putting others down, bullying was an action he had no sympathy for and he felt like doubting someone’s character was a part of this. He nodded, taking another sip. “I guess so… I think I need to get used to it, like you said… Feel it out… “ He laughed. “Does she say that? She’s sweet, man… Actually everyone here is sweet, er, nice, so far.” He laughed again, though a second later the amusement softened and he smiled genuinely.

“You’re a cool dude, Z. Really cool, thanks.” He patted Zander on the back, a manly show of camaraderie and friendship. ‘cause you know, hugging would probably not be cool.


Look at that blush, Damien had to smirk, and it only widened at her words. “Ours now, Puckenstien.” He said, winking, but a second later the last bit of her sentence caught up to him and he had to add; “Anderson-Belfort, but you know, It’s cool, no big deal,” Damien said, in an exaggeratedly hurt manner.

The name was important though, like, really.

Puck felt the rush, and was beaming like crazy when she landed on the platform again. “THAT WAS SO TOTALLY WICKED!” She chirped out happily and beamed brightly before detaching from the Bungee jump and making her way back into the room.

She grinned at AJ, “like going to bed?” Puck laughed and rolled her eyes as obviously that was ALL Slytherin was going to do…wait…it was over? She sighed and pouted before glancing over to Toddles and smiling.

“Of course the kitchens sound like a great place to talk” she smiled before taking a drink off of the snack table and opening it. Hah, Damien she grinned. “Oh please we are going to have so much fun Damien,” she beamed. “I just wish Rorie was with us I would have loved having her as a roommate” she admitted honestly and beamed.

Wait? Another house elf? Puck glanced at Tippin and grinned. “Hello Tippin” Puck grinned at the other house elf and smiled. “We’re playing pin the tail on the lion we spin around and try to pin a tail onto the lion who doesn’t like staying still for very long at all” she laughed and glanced at the pin the tail game.

So far what she had observed was that the new Muggle Studies professir was very loud and egaer. Not that it was a bad thing. At least it wasn't the perkiness and forced positity of Professor Cassie or the preference for drama of Professor Glendower, for which she was extremely thankful for. And speaking of professors, Professor Airey was talking to her. "Evening, professor," she saluted back.

"Nah, I'll be okay here." Unless that was a subtle hint to get off the table, in which case, she would. But it turned out that didn't even matter anyway, because the party was over. Had she really been up in the dorms that long? It hadn't seemed like it. And now it was time to head back up. Sigh.

Yeah yeah YEAH!...

"That works, or we could just have it for like, forever. I'd be more than happy to do more my homework if it meant I could have a jump before bed every night." Could he? Was this an option? WAS IT HAPPENING? Or was he merely talking himself INTO it and Professor Airey OUT of it? He'd have added something along the line of being super responsible and whatnot, but that would have sounded suck-upish. Yep. So no. "Or yeah... start of term festivities..." that'd do.

He simply nodded YES, his face etched with all the seriousness of an innocent man on death row with a dementor breathing down his neck. This was nothing to joke about.

Lame sttuuuuuufff! AJ was right on the money, he was sure of it. Why was he sure of it? Because that's what he'd been thinking toooo! "Yeah, no, I don't think so," he chuckled, imagining the look on their faces if they even knew about the bungee. "I bet the Ravenclaw's are having their welcome back book club meeting for the books they read over Summer... and... Hufflepuff are, I dunno, puffing or whatever it is that they do... and the Slytherin's are hatching plans to do us all in. They'll be out for the Cup this year for sure." But they weren't going to get it. Nope. Not after the points they'd lost tonight. He was there, he heard it alll... THIRTY POINTS!

Amur peeked around at AJ's indication, looking over to one of the two newly arrived professors. Her eyes narrowed and her brow furrowed in concentration as he took a good long look at the man. She wanted to be able to remember him, as she had a very important question to ask regarding a sad little screaming journal. Of course it didn't really click that she was likely to have a class with him, and thus memorization wasn't really of importance. She would remember as much later, but right there, at that moment, it was imperative. "Got it."

She turned a smile to the older girl. "Thank you...again. AJ." Yes, see? She remembered names.



Peering up at the boy behind whom she hid, Amur wrinkled her nose. "Of course I'll eat one." Or a few. "But that's not the point." As he had confirmed, 'clever'. She couldn't really eat her supply of 'Clever' now could she? Not all of it at least.

Her face scrunching turned to skepticism as she drew back behind Zeke, despite his best efforts to move, and peered out around from his other side at the teacher. "You really think so?"

Because there was a problem, a big problem if this boy was wrong. Said Mr. Amusing-yet-Terrifying Professor was headed their way. And it wasn't like he was looking at the food. Nope, he was looking at them. Had she known Zeke better, and had she not wanted to disrupt his sudden and intense concentration trying to ensure he would catch his frog, she would have grabbed his sleeve and backed them both away from the approaching, and surely imminent doom. As it was, she could only make the action of grabbing the air above Zeke's sleeve with her hands.

And then, he spoke.

Amur's eyes widened. All gone? He didn't think she had taken them all did he? The air that was drawn into her lungs for a hurried explanation sounded all too much like a gasp of surprise, even more so when his next words gave her pause. Hopped away? Well, that sounded remarkably innocent and...unknowning of her sleeve-stuffing.

Curling her hands into light fists, Amur glanced from the Professor to the chocolate bowl - which admittedly was rather low - and back again. "No..." She cleared her throat from the squeakiness. "Not all gone. There's still some left. Haven't seen any on the floor either."

Nope. Just up her sleeves.

Fearing that somehow this strange, roof-jumping man may also be a mind-reader, Amur turned and quickly plucked a frog from the bowl and offered it to said Professor. Perhaps he wanted one? Perhaps he feared there would not be enough left for him? Perhaps she should put a few back? But no, they were for a good cause, and Zeke had said this man would approve if he knew of said cause. So, she focused on doing as the boy had suggested, and not sweating about it. It helped to smile, she remembered, and so she added that along with a "Thank you for preparing this, Sir. It is amazing."

Puck glanced at Toddles when she heard him excitedly calling to the other house elf Tippin, this was kind of cute. Puck grinned at the two house elves, “of course I can teach you both to play” she grinned as she picked up a tail off of the table and grinned at the two. “What you do is you spin around, close your eyes and try to attach the tail to the lion….all with your eyes closed” she chuckled and glanced at the portrait the lion had jumped right before her eyes to a portrait just to the right of her.
