| | Potions Laboratory (For Only Workshop) It's the same laboratory, except for the rostrum. Professor Culloden removes it for the Workshop Meetings.
For those who couldn't make it to the first meeting, there are two big piles of two different books sitting neatly in the corner. You are welcome to take one from each and keep it. OOC: I'll keep the thread open. If you guys want to, you can RP taking the books/studying for the workshop etc. In short, this thread is for the workshop. For any other brewing exercise, please use the regular Laboratory thread. Thank you! |

Ben was thinking really hard on his reasoning as he waited for the color change and Culloden persisted on wanting to know the answer. Only one idea came to mind about it. "Um...It might be for a thickening agent," the fifth year finally answered just as the original color of his work drifted into a grayish purple. Or was it thining agent. "So its not too thin." That did in fact make some sense. You didn't want it to be like incredibly weak broth.
Or thick stew for that matter.
When the mixture was more thoroughly purple, the Gryffindor figured he should probably move on. Which meant adding the eagle feathers into the mix. They were majestic flying creatures so it seemed to be an appropriate additive when his research suggested them as possible ingrediants. Benny found the collection of feathers he had gathered for the purpose of the lab. While his recipe had called for 2, he had made sure to have extra in case it turned out to improve his guesses on the work.
Grasping the first one by the shaft, he moved to use it a stiring rod. At first he was going to simply move it counter clockwise but he decided perhaps to do it differently. He seemed to remember a potion somewhere where it was a figure eight movement. So Benny did just that, let the lower half of the feather move in the elaborate motion before letting it slip into the liquid. And then the other eagle feather followed suit.
Figure eight...add.
He then picked up his borrowed wand once more and took a deep breath before casting an incendio to raise the heat on the burner. A higher temperature would help brew it he thought.

Aha. Such a complicated process this was. Adi was pleased for it all though because he learnt something about ingredients. "Got it, Professor.'' He made up his mind that he would need to do a wholeeee lot more reading and such... which he will probably do until the new school term begins. Hehe.
Sooooo, he was almost done with his potion. Adi cleaned the stirrer once more using the Scouring Charm. he final stirring process was on!
One, two, three, four, five times clockwise!
One, two, three, four, five times counter clockwise!
The Hufflepuff made sure the burner was still on low since he had to let the mixture stew for twenty minutes. In the meanwhile that was happening, he updated the steps for the potion. |

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Her recipe now up to date, Lux was ready to move on with the next step in her potion. That one involved adding the remaining three Chocolate Frogs so that the total amount would be the magical number of seven.
Each package was opened in turn, with the chocolate carefully ripped in half and plopped into the cauldron before it could escape and hop around the laboratory. Haha, that would be funny under other circumstances, but potion brewing was always serious business.
The recipe called for her to stir afterwards, but Lux figured it was better to just go without that as she had when the other Chocolate Frogs had been added. Now her potion couldn't decide that it had been over-stirred. After removing the stirs from her recipe, Lux got a clean bowl and grater ready so that she could shred up the chocolate squares she had brought.
Shred. Shred. Shred.
It took a few minutes and her hands got a few cuts from the grater, but soon all seven squares were in her bowl. Everything was dumped into the cauldron and the potion became a darker brown. |

"Flobberworm mucus would be better," he said, "but we'll see how it goes." If it didn't work out, they could do the potion with the mucus again. |

Lux was excited to see if her potion worked, and it was a good sign that it hadn't acted weird since the clockwise stir thing
Taking a clean knife, she started chopping up seven mint leaves. They smelled really good and she hoped that they would add a nice hint of taste to the chocolate. Making potions that were predominantly chocolate was awesome and maybe she would invent more of them in the future.
The chopped up mint was added to the cauldron and Lux used her clean spoon to stir the potion 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9... 10... 11... 12... 13... 14... 15... 16... 17... 18... 19... 20... times clockwise. "Professor, I'm done... I think?" Unless he had other suggestions for her? |
