What ball would be complete without a dance floor and a buffet with lots of delicious food piled high on it?? If you're ready to put on your dancing shoes, head over to the large, sparkle-infused dance floor with your friends (or maybe that cute stranger in the mask over there!) and dance the night away. There is music provided by a Ghostly Quartet, but chances are you'll recognize a good chunk of the music on the playlist the ghosts are playing from...
Need some food? Then take a break on the side of the dance floor, where delicious treats have been arranged neatly on a long buffet table. Tiny finger foods such as spicy lobster rolls, reishi stuffed meatballs, and shimmering shrooms can be found if you want a nice little pick me up. Or, seasoned pumpkin souffle, raspberry-glazed pork chops, traditional shephard's pie, and more are available if you're looking for a larger meal. Don't forget to try one of the many delicious (and completely unhealthy) desserts lovingly prepared for the event, as well as topping it all off with something cold (and sweet) to drink.
Wow. That was all he could think as the girl took off her mask. She definitely was beautiful. But she also looked older, which he hoped wasn't too much of a problem. Austin was a third year, and although he seemed older, he was still only 13. She also had some weird gems on her eyes which did accentuate her jade green eyes, but was it really necessary? She did spend the majority of the night under the mask, so no one really saw them until now. At least people saw them.
The last thing the third year wanted was to go inside. Going inside meant that the night had to come to an end, and he really didn't want that. He was having so much fun, and it was kind of nice to have a pretty girl he didn't know on his arm. There was an air of mystery about her, even with her mask off. "I think the ghost said something about picking a girl and boy for something. But if you wanted to leave, that would be alright. There's no way I'd be picked. I don't know anyone who would vote for me." And the one girl who would wasn't here right now. "But you on the other hand, you should be the one who wins. You're really beautiful." He felt that it needed to be said again. To let her know it wasn't the mask that made her look good. She made the mask look good on her.
"Me, on the other hand, I just don't want the night to end." He lead the girl to the dessert table. He hadn't had any dinner, and he knew it was too late for any, so he decided on candy to satisfy his hunger. He picked up a few candied feathers and handed them to the girl. "For you M'lady. I promise I won't steal them this time." As for himself, he picked up more of the candied fairy lights. They really were delicious, and he hadn't had any in a long time.
Tora smacked her head with the palm of the hand not holding her mask. "Billywig rot!" she swore. "The best dressed competition!" Even though the ghostly band that had been playing music all night interrupted the dancing not twenty minutes ago to remind everyone to vote- "I forgot to vote," she said to the Gentleman. So dubbed the Gentleman by Tora, since neither of them seemed inclined to share their name. It would break the dreamlike, mysterious quality to the night.
"Geez, all these compliments! Thank you!" Tora really didn't know what else to say. She wasn't used to being flattered so by boys, even younger ones. The thought that this younger boy was actually flirting with her in earnest crossed her mind, but she decided to brush it aside. He had lost his date earlier and had ended up dancing the rest of the time with another, newly met, girl. That combined with the general mystique the night created probably would lead him to say some things he wouldn't normally. Besides, Tora wanted a new friend and it wouldn't do to push this boy away because she thought he was flirting with her when he probably wasn't.
Nothing could stop her though from taking the offered candied feathers. But if he was trying to get out of something... "How very ungentlemanly! Trying to get out of buying me more feathers!" she joked before breaking off a piece of feather and popping it in her mouth. And just in case he took her seriously, "I'll still take these though as partial compensation." And hmmm would he really not steal? Tora held her feathers subtly on the opposite side of her than where he was standing. He had been proven to take feathers right out of her own hand just to spite her and she wasn't taking no chances this time 'round.
"To be honest? I don't want this night to end either," Tora said with a heavy sigh, her thoughts switching to something deeper than just candy. She threw her head back and gazed up at what stars she could see through the light of the Masquerade. Her favorite things in the whole world. Recently they had been her only friends, too. Tora thought she had seen Adrienne here somewhere but, as she had been for the last several weeks, they ignored each other. Not that Tora would have wanted someone like her to ruin this night with her self-absorbed, 'I don't need help' attitude that was just- Tora suddenly realized how quiet she had gotten. "Sorry 'bout that. Just got lost there in thought," she said, rousing herself and smiling weakly at the Gentleman.

Austin laughed. "Don't worry, I didn't vote either." To be honest, he didn't realize there was voting until the ghosts had said anything. He had spent the majority of the night looking for Ophelia, and the last few hours dancing. So voting on someone wasn't really something he had been focused on. Plus he wasn't sure who to vote for. He didn't know this girl's name, so voting for her would be quite difficult. In the end, he was fine not voting.
He was glad that she had accepted his offer of the feathers. But it was funny how she tried to keep them away from him. Just in case. He was known to do things in spite, and if she had waved them in his face again, he probably would have taken them from her again. So she was right in keeping them away from him. But the third year was content in his fairy lights. "No worries, you will still get your bag of feathers. I just didn't want to hand you something you didn't like or allergic to." See? Gentlemanly. It would be mega awkward if he had handed her a pumpkin pasty and it turned out she was allergic to pumpkins. It was best to stick with what he knew.
They had stopped walking and the girl looked up at the stars. Austin looked up too, but probably wasn't seeing what she was seeing. He could make out a few constellations he had learned in class, but she was probably seeing more. Maybe a lost relative, or a friend. Someone she hadn't seen in a while. He looked at her then back at the sky. This time he too saw something more than just stars. This time he saw his mother. Well, he didn't actually see her, but the essence of her was there. He imagined his mother smiling at him from above, proud that he had made a new friend.
The lady's words pulled him from his own thoughts. "I know what you mean." He returned her smile with his own week one, knowing that whatever she was feeling, he was probably feeling the same way. Unless she was feeling a loss of a friend, which he really couldn't understand. For now at least. The third year moved a strand of his mysterious date's hair behind her ear. "Whatever it is, it will be okay. I promise." There was no way she could hide anything. Not from him at least. He had made similar smiles and faces last summer.
Standing by the food after eating Puck stood there, mask still comfortably plastered to her face. Her stomach lurched as she watched people revealing themselves. Oh god. Eden had had a mustache! That was priceless.
But…the guy she had talked to been nice to was Banner. Her head was swimming as she took another bite of her sugar quill crčme brulee. Making sure to glance around the room she carefully pulled mask off and felt the urge to walk over and ask what potion Banner had used to seem…less like himself but she didn’t. She just stood there wand watched as people removed their masks as she carefully set her’s on the table behind her.

Because Sophie Brown was taking every word he said to heart, because she wanted to believe.
Setting her invitation down on the table and picking up a quill to write her votes down, Sophie struggled a bit with it as she replied to Zander, "Hope you're right, then." When she was done and her vote was cast, she turned back to the Gryffindor and smiled. "Thanks, Zanderpander." Pulling him in for a brief, but tight hug, she made sure he knew how much she appreciated him before letting go and taking his hand instead, her gaze drifting toward the dance floor. "Yeeees, dance. I'd like that very much, 'n maybe he'll see our smooth moves and come to us." Hehe.
And... then it was midnight. Huh. Already? Glancing around at those around them as they took off their masks, Sophie reached up to do the same to hers, but stopped, noticing Zander didn't even make a move to do his. Did he forget it was there? Or did he just like to stay a man of mystery? "...I'm gonna go ahead and take mine off, 'cause I want people to acknowledge how good I look tonight," she admitted truthfully as she did just that, grinning all the while. Her dress didn't have a good place to conceal it, though, so she casually tucked it right inside Zander's suit. No big deal.
"Let's dance, yes." With a radiant smile, she tugged Zander's arm lightly and guided him toward the dance floor. Tobes HAD to be there, didn't he? She'd looked everywhere else for him.
Zander grinned down at her as he shook his head a bit, "Nah, I didn't even do anything." He would've voted for her anyways. There was no need to thank him or anything. Though, he did scrunch his nose at the nickname. Okay, okay so he'd admit that it was starting to grow on him, but pretending he hated it was 95% of the fun. He was sure that Sophie appreciated it too. Probably what kept her calling him by the name, if Zander had to make a guess. Like she said before, teasing was her thing. So really, by scrunching his nose he was doing HER a favor. Heh. Smooth moves, eh? ... Well, actually now that she mentioned it, "We're in luck too 'cause I've actually been working on my dancing." He was pretty proud actually. He had come a very long way from the flailing arms bit he tried out at the music festival over the summer. Who knew Agatha Hapgood was actually a good teacher?
But anyways, he looked down as Sophie let go of his hand to remove her own mask. "Oh, maybe I should take off mine too then since everyone else is--" ... "Actually, I'm just going to leave it on. Don't want people assuming things if they see that you're not dancing with Tobes, y'know?" Of course friends could dance together and stuff, but it just... Zander didn't want anyone making a big deal out of it or anything. That stuff tended to happen around here too.
He glanced down as Sophie tucked her mask into his suit and then looked up to give her a small grin. Aaaaaand to the dance floor, it is! He followed quickly behind her, knowing that midnight meant the event would soon come to an end. They had to at least catch the last song before the masquerade ended! He hadn't danced at all yet! It'd definitely defeat the entire purpose. Once they reached the dance floor, he held his arms up-- positioned just like he was taught at the music festival-- and waited for Sophie to follow suit, before starting to sway to the music. He even held up his arm so that she could twirl underneath. See, totally smooth moves right here, ladies and gents.

Grayson couldn't get enough and, unsurprisingly, he'd reached a very early point in the evening where he'd gotten hungry so, naturally, he came here. To the buffet table. To get some FOOD.
But, looking around at the menu, there didn't seem to be many of the dishes that he liked. Everything sounded so fancy and proper and it made the sixth year even more confused than he already was. Yo, what happened to a simple helping of fish and chips? Or chicken nuggets? You know what would be the best option? A Big Mac. This was why Hogsmeade needed to have some Muggle fast food stores as well. It was only right.
If he couldn't find anything for himself, he was just gonna have to ask, wasn't he? And who was he gonna ask? Someone who wasn't too far away from him. Perfect! Even if she looked like the ruler of the ice kingdom -- what in the name of Merlin was up with that? "Hey, recommend anything from here? I'm STARVING!" C'mon, help a handsome dude out.
And why did she look familiar? SQUINT.
In some ways, it was interesting being the only person in the room without a mask. People were definitely acting different than they usually did. Even though she was only twelve, Brooklyn could tell that. Just as she could sort of tell, now that the annoying fuzzy feeling in her head was fading, who those people actually were. At least, there was no way the headmistress could disguise her hair. No easier than she could have herself, had she wanted to. And Brooklyn had never wanted to disguise her hair, not really. She liked being a redhead, even if it didn’t really go with the ice queen look. She was herself, just all sparkly and ice princess-y.
She hadn’t really cared to act like she noticed people when they had wandered over near the buffet table, unless they looked like they’d trip over her as she finished the sugar quill from her crčme brulee. Luckily, nobody had seemed to, although the one boy who had recently shown up seemed like he might have. She’d kept an eye on him, sucking on the quill even as the clock had struck the last note signaling midnight and people had started removing their masks. See? She’d just made it easier for herself since she didn’t have to reveal anything. She could avoid all that stupid awkwardness.
She’d glanced over again as she heard the boy speak, eyes narrowing a bit as she recognized Grayson. Helper-stealer. But she could deign to help him. He was a Slytherin, anyway, even if she didn’t trust him very much. “I don’t know,” she answered, finishing her sugar quill first. “I just went for what looked good.” Dessert. He was awfully stupid if he couldn’t do that. Didn’t have to know what it was if you just went by appearances. She’d just went for the crčme brulee because of the sugar quills after all.

Ahh, yeppers. Benny was indeed a good friend. It was almost a shame that Adi had to accept the complement directed at the other boy. Well, at least Benny knew what an awesome friend he was since Adi had let him know that before. "Interesting. You two have the same fear. Loosing each other, I mean.'' Adi did NOT want to think about that prospect. His days would be dark if AJ left him. DARK, I tells ya. Another small Dragon- like smile. "I have my moments.'' Nope. Benny spent a whole lot of time among books and it always seemed to Adi his bestie had a whole lot of knowledge.
Oh darn! The Hufflepuff really wanted to laugh at that suggestion. "You can design it if you like. I would let Angel do it but she might make me a pink one.'' Annnnd with a reply like that, he BARELY managed to keep from grinning. But seriously, nothing was wrong with being shy in his books.
Feel the music. Now that was something Adi could do VERY well. And with the awesome music currently playing, it was even easier for him to do so. Why? Because practically all the compositions were familiar to him. "I think I can do that much. When you have a best friend who likes music so much, it's something you can learn to get used to.''
Was it just sweet how much she wanted to find him and he was right there? "Duties comes with the badge, right? Don't worry. You'll find him. Or maybe he'll find you.'' Luckily she had that unicorn necklace on. Adi wasn't sure he would have been able to recognise her in the dress. Uh oh. Talk of Angel and Benny. Now, Adi already knew that Angel was all over in love with his friend but he also knew Benny... a whole lot more reserved and he had not even said those three words to Angel as yet. "Yes, I can.'' Time to steer the conversation in a different direction, yes? Before he slipped up with something he didn't know about or wasn't supposed to say. "How about a spin?'' Adi lifted his hand that was holding AJ's up so that she could have a twirl.
Still out of character here. Yup.
Man, this conversation with Benny was pretty deep. This was the longest she had been serious in a long time. In fact this might be a personal record. This probably had a lot to do with the boy standing in front of her. Benny was not one to goof off a lot. He was definitely the more serious type. Deciding to lighten the mood a bit, she appeared to blow off the seriousness of AJ losing Adi. "Can you blame him? Who would want to lose this?" Truthfully, she would be a mess, and all she could hope for was never having to experience that. Moments was a good way of putting it. HA. "That you do." He really was a nice balance to Angel.
AJ laughed. "You would definitely get a pink one if she got her hands on it. Come to think of it the mask would probably be full of glitter and you better believe it will be fluffy." Just the thought of it made her want to gag. If he wanted something at all manly, AJ was the one for the job.
Dancing totally wasn't that hard and Benny was starting to realize that. "Music is awesome. What is your favorite kind?" It was weird to think that even though Benny was one of her best friends that she didn't really know that much about him.
Duties, yes. Ugh. "I never want to be a prefect. It's so much work, and for what?" She got that Adi loved it, but it was way too much responsibility for her. "The power is pretty awesome." It was more than awesome. Okay, that was the only cool thing about prefect stuff. Hmm... he was definitely avoiding the love thing, and maybe AJ was being too pushy about it anyways. A spin? YES. AJ wanted in on that action.
Halfway through her twirl she heard a noise that sounded like a clock dinging. Could it really be that late already? Maybe it was the music that she was confusing the sound for. As she came full circle she looked back up at Benny. "That was fun. Would you---" Her words caught mid sentence because that wasn't Benny that she was looking up at.
"Adi?"
Her mouth was hanging open and all she could do was stare. He looked so handsome that for a moment she couldn't believe he was hers. The whole night she had thought about him and wished that he had been by her side, and he was. So many words wanted to come out of her mouth, but all she could do was stare. He made her think he was Benny, and she totally bought it.
Adi almost laughed out loud but instead he lightly chuckled. "He would always have his Hippogriffs to keep him company.'' Hehe. Playing right back with ya there, AJ. Cue another chuckle. "Even more than all that glitter she and Adi dumped on me for that History of Magic lesson?'' Harvey the Glittering Unicorn was the character Benny had become that day in Adi's opinion. Oh, his musical taste? "I'm not really into it. Adi's never had any luck in making me listen to it that often.'' It was true and Adi was determined to change that soon.
"He likes it. But he could be enjoying himself right now... dancing with another girl.'' The fifth year started to smirk but that would be soooooo un- Dragon like. It was a good thing AJ had been doing her spinny thingy at the same time. Annnnnnd the cluck struck twelve too!
Cue the lift of the charms!
"The one and only,'' Adi replied, grinning broadly now and raising his Batman mask slightly so AJ could see his face. It took him a moment to realise he had rendered his girlfriend speechless. Who would have thought that possible? LOL. But hey, she had done the same to him earlier tonight.
"You look like a rock goddess, by the way.'' Adi had wanted to tell her that since he had seen her first but he had held out until the right time.

Wow.
GAAAAAASP.
"I'm on your bucket list?!" That was the BEST THING SHE HAD HEARD ALL DAY. Who was this cutie saying all the right adorable lil things? Honestly, she'd needed the boost with how the Masquerade had kind of ended up a let down for her, so Ruby was all smiles. Compliments always meant a well lit up Ruby Banner that was for sure.
Or well, mostly.
Today anyway.
And midnight happened. Ruby pushed her mask up into her hair. His turn! "And who are you, Romeo?" Sure, the spell was gone, but he needed to take his mask off still, for her anyway.

He'd been working... on his dancing? Really? Sophie had a sudden mental image of Zander Adair dancing with himself in front of the mirror in his dormitory, swaying and twirling a non-existent partner and taking it all way too seriously. Why had he been practicing, hm? Was there someone in particular he had wanted to impress? Since he was a prefect and played a part in the whole masquerade... had he known there'd be dancing and want to be good for a REASON? But just what WAS that reason?
Sophie was incredibly curious, but she resisted the urge to inquire. For now. Instead, she simply replied, "That's good, then. The boy's supposed to be a good leader, so where you lead, I'll follow." HEHEHE. She gave his hand a happy little squeeze, but she faltered when Zander... seemed to WANT to take off his mask, then thought better of it. Why would he...? Why didn't he want to be seen with her? Was he embarrassed? Or was there another girl that he didn't want to make jealous- oh. He was worried that people would think badly for THAT reason? Pfft. Pffffffft.
"Zander, a girl and boy can dance together as friends and not have it mean anything. Everyone knows Tobes - he's so cool 'bout everything. I doubt anyone would even think that us dancing together'd be a problem. They'd just see two friends dancing together, okay?" If they had seen them kiss, MAYBE it would be a different story, but... just dancing? Naw. Sophie Brown very gently took Zander's mask off FOR him and nicely tucked it into his suit to join hers. Just to PROVE that she had no problem letting people see them dancing together. "If anyone tries to cause trouble 'bout this, y'send 'em to me. I'll take care of it."
Feeling VERY pretty and princess-like now, Sophie let Zander lead them further into the dance floor and grinned when he got into position - he sure knew what he was doing, didn't he? - and placed her hands nicely where he wanted them to go, then followed his lead as he guided them to the music.
Not bad, Adair. Not bad at all.
... "TOOOOOOOOBES. NEXT DANCE IS YOURS," she called over the music, grinning huge at Zander and looking nowhere but his eyes, but letting the WHOLE WORLD know that this dance with Zander was nothing to worry about and was just for fun. Okay? That cleared everything up, then. AND she wanted Tobes to come find her, though, for real, because she had tried way too hard to look beautiful for him tonight for it to go to waste. Where WAS HE? But. "There. Now we can relax. Tobes is gonna be on standby, but for now s'just you 'n me. Let's not worry too much, 'kay? Dancing with you is nice. You're good at this. Maybe Tobes'll want to dance with you, too. We could all dance together. Bet that'd be cute." Could he imagine? She could, and it was hilarious.

Turning her attention briefly toward the dance floor, the Ravenclaw resisted the urge to unnecessarily adjust her mask, not at all use to wearing one of course. Listening to the song change, grey-blue eyes moved from her dancing peers to the boy again, and she tilted her head slightly. "Do you know how to dance?"
He watched her a bit as he waited for her to decide on a nickname, though he did glance around at other people too since staring for too long would probably be uncomfortable. Not that the waiting lasted all that long anyway, and he grinned at the nickname she chose.
"Okay, Miss Awesome." Great nicknames, Mr. Awesome and Miss Awesome. David followed her attention to the other people dancing before turning his eyes to her again at her question. "Eh, a little, I guess." Not something he'd generally admit since it wasn't really his thing and he wasn't THAT great at it anyway, but it was a masquerade so it was okay here...

...oh, they were supposed to take their masks off now? Huh, okay. "Guess we don't have to use the nicknames now?" he asked, slipping off his mask. Ah, that felt much better actually. Masks felt kinda weird on your face after awhile. "We could still dance though, if you wanna." That had probably been why she'd asked him whether he could, right? And the night was probably getting close to the end, so might as well have at least one dance.
And then probably go over to the buffet for some food. Yep.

Masks felt kinda weird on your face after awhile. "We could still dance though, if you wanna." That had probably been why she'd asked him whether he could, right? And the night was probably getting close to the end, so might as well have at least one dance.
And then probably go over to the buffet for some food. Yep.
Her question was one of curiosity, mostily. And his answer amused her, just a little bit. Hopefully he didn't feel bad, honestly.. she didn't expect him to be an expert or anything. Couldn't be any worse than half the student body on the dance floor at the moment, right? They were school-aged kids. Not professional dancers. And this was all.. just for fun. Taking another quick glance, the Ravenclaw's attention turned rather quickly back to her companion as a bell rang out.
Was that.. did that mean..? It was midnight, wasn't it?
Casting grey-blue eyes around the room, Hayley was absolutely certain that it was, in fact, midnight. Time to reveal themselves. "I guess not," She agreed lightly, reaching up to carefully untie her own mask and remove it. The corners of her lips tugged upward again, gaze on the boy - Mr. Awesome. "I'm Hayley, by the way. Hayley Diggory." As for the dancing, well.. "Sure?" They could. Though, Hayley had thought the ball was to end right about now, but the music was still playing, so maybe they had a bit more time left.

I love you all,
Class dismissed.
He was embarrassed. Why did he had to say the bucket list thing??? UGH. Stupid mouth. But maybe there was a chance that she wasn't who he thought she was.
But then she confirmed it. It was INDEED Ruby Banner.
Noel's head wanted to deny it but when she took her mask off, Noel stared. She looked stunning. Like always.
Uh. Did he reallly have to take his mask off? Noel considered LEAVING but she was standing right in front of him, and smiling, and looking so .... yeah. Mastering all the courage possible at the moment, the fifteen year old pushed his mask off and smiled: "Noel Wallace"
Could she tell that he had a crush? Could she?

Standing near the side of the dance floor, he tapped his foot along to the music as he continued searching for any of his friends.
Bleu walked into the masquerade party wearing the most beautiful dress and a very flirty mask. She felt very beautiful, which was a rarity. She looked across the room for Dylan. She knew he had to be here and his long hair would be easy to spot. Was that really Pink Floyd being played right now? She couldn't believe some of her favorite muggle rock music was being played. Which meant that if Dylan was here he would be super excited too.
Then she was pretty sure she finally spotted him, tapping his feet at the edge of the dance floor and looking around. He was as handsome as ever. Grinning, she glided across the room towards him, her hair flowing in the breeze behind her. She was definitely feeling ridiculous at the moment. She quietly stood next to him, "Excuse me, sir, would you care to dance?" She grinned wondering if he would realize it was her...not that her mask left much to be unseen.

Oh yeah, she was just as pretty without the mask as David figured she'd be. Maybe even prettier. Not that he was much of a judge for comparisons or whatever. She was pretty either way and that was what mattered, right?
And introductions could be done now, right. Why didn't he think of that? "Nice to officially meet you now, Hayley." He grinned. "I'm David Hensley. But you can still call me Mr. Awesome if you like," he added with a wink. And she'd agreed to dance, so no backing down now to get food sooner.
He offered his hand to her, still keeping up the grin. "Let's go then."

Noticing someone make their way towards him, Dylan recognized her immediately as she neared him. He knew that lovely hair and smile anywhere. Looking Bleu over quickly and loving her gorgeous dress, he smiled, his eyes meeting hers through his mask. "You look amazing." He told her. Grinning at Bleu's question, he nodded, extending his hand. "I would love to." He answered her as he lead her to the middle of the dance floor, his heart fluttering.
Dylan had never really slow danced with a girl before. He wasn't sure if he'd be good at it...but it shouldn't be too hard, right? All you had to do was keep a tempo and move to it. And his mother had told him sometime ago how to do it. Placing one hand on her waist, he grabbed her hand with his other one. He pulled her a little closer and then began moving with her to the music, breathing a small sigh of relief. That hadn't been that hard. Glancing at the people dancing around him, he smiled and looked back at Bleu.

Bleu bit her bottom lip and smiled. She felt so silly in this get up but at the same time she absolutely loved the idea of it. "Thank you. You're looking rather dashing yourself." She grinned and winked at him, which was actually really hard to do with a mask on. She nodded and took his hand, following him to the dance floor.
He was actually a pretty good dancer. For some reason he looked really relieved, like he had been waiting for a long time for someone to come find him. "Have you been here long? I wasn't sure if I was going to come or not but I felt like everyone deserves a break after this long term...and it would be a wonderful opportunity to spend time with you." She looked up into his eyes and smiled back. He was always so handsome, even with a mask covering his face.

"Dashing, eh?" Dylan asked, fixing his bowtie and beaming down at her. "Why, thank you." His heart leaped when he noticed her wink at him from under her mask.
Giving a shrug at her question, he chuckled. "For a little bit, I was watching people dancing long enough to understand how to do it. I've never danced before, really. Let alone with a girl." The Puffer blushed and laughed, blushing more as she looked up into his eyes. He loved when she did that but it really did make his heart go crazy...he didn't really know why, though.

Bleu giggle at his revelation. The fact that he learned from watching the other people was pretty fantastic. "Well, I'm sorry you had to wait but I am very impressed with how quickly you learn. Maybe you could be a fancy ball room dancer and spin me and do crazy tricks and we would be the stars of the dance!" She giggled, looking up at him through her long lashes.
Soon the music changed to another song, it was actually one of her favorites by a singer named Adele. It was slow and hauntingly beautiful. "This is my favorite song." She wrapped both of her arms around his neck and hummed along with the song, realizing she still hadn't sung for him.

Dylan shook his head, smiling. "No big deal. I find it fun to watch the couples dancing." He told her, raising an eyebrow when she suggested him being a fancy ballroom dancer. He laughed. "Honestly, I dunno if I can do those crazy tricks they do if I can hardly walk without tripping most days." He chuckled at this. He wouldn't mind practicing with Bleu, though. Anytime spent with her he cherished.
Hearing a song he never heard before begin playing, he smiled and pulled Bleu even closer. The fifth year smiled when she said it was her favorite song, he put both hands on her waist and swayed with her to the music. He rested his chin on the top of her head, listening to her beautiful humming.
After a selection of songs to close out the night, it was finally time to announce winners for this Best Dressed affair. As for the votes...just moments before, the enchanted birdcage stuffed to the brim with folded bits of paper, had completed it's voyage to the stage. The student leaders had made quick work of counting them. Once. Twice. Thrice...just to make sure!
Calling for a cease in the music, Bergerus stepped forward once more and struck a chord on his cello. Did he have everyone's attention?
"...and we have winners! How exciting..." Being handed a piece of parchment, the old ghost cleared his throat. More of out habit and excitement than necessity. "Ms. Ruby Banner, Ms. Sophie Brown, and Mr. Tobias Fuller-Thompson." Lifting it gaze, he trailed it over the captivated audience. "Congratulation are in order for those two lovely young ladies...and that very dashing young fellow."

She could tell. Totally could tell, and it made her day. Her night. At least it could be said she was appreciative of such attentions? She was all smiles over here.
"Oooh! Noel, I remember youuu, cutie. Or maybe I'll stick with Romeo. Thank you so much for dancing with me." Really. She'd been worried there for a second ok?
Oh look there was a ghost saying something. Probably something boring. Oh no, best dressed! That thing they all voted for! She chewed her lip anxiously. This stuff... it mattered to her. Which might have been dumb to some people but because she never did any good at school things... well, it was this stuff she focused her attentions on.
And her name! YAY SHE WON! SHE WAS BEST DRESSED! Ruby happy clapped excitedly, all smiles. Ok so she had to share the honours with one of the Sophies, (and with Tobes but that was okay because there obvy had to be a boy winner.... why Gabriel hadn't won was beyond her though, she knew her brother looked good), but still! Winner!
....................................
.... did she get a prize or a memento or what?
"I'm best dressed!" She said excitedly, turning her attention back to Noel. Had he voted for herrr?

Bleu grinned, and agreed. It was pretty fun to watch everyone dancing, especially those that had a talent for it. She had always wished she had a talent for dancing but slow dancing was really all she could do. "It is fun...and honestly I don't think I could ever dance like that either." She said with a giggle.
She hummed through the entire song with her eyes closed. She felt safe in his arms, and before she realized it she was singing the last verse, but only loud enough for him to hear it...."I could make you happy, make your dreams come true. Nothing that I wouldn't do. Go to the ends of the earth for you, to make you feel my love......to make you feel my love." Her voice was very similar to the singers, not as coarse and gravely, but similar. She sighed as the song ended...so couldn't help but love it.

"Well," Dylan said, glancing at the other dancers as they danced. "You could dance like that if you put the time into it." He shrugged. Although, he himself wouldn't put his time into that. Naw, he put his time into guitar and art. Not much else. He didn't care to much for becoming a pro at dancing.
Dylan smiled as Bleu continued to hum. It was lovely, and he felt as if he could drift away and fall asleep to it. But he wouldn't do that, not here at least where people would trip over him sleeping in the middle of the dance floor. All of a sudden, though, the humming changed into singing. It wasn't loud at all, it was quiet, but the volume was enough for him to hear it. He smiled at this and he kissed her cheek, happy he had finally gotten to hear her sing. "You have a pretty voice." he said when the song had ended.
And it had ended in time for the winners to be announced. Turning his attention to the announcer, he put his arm around Bleu and listened as the winning names were called out. Smiling, he began applauding them.
