What ball would be complete without a dance floor and a buffet with lots of delicious food piled high on it?? If you're ready to put on your dancing shoes, head over to the large, sparkle-infused dance floor with your friends (or maybe that cute stranger in the mask over there!) and dance the night away. There is music provided by a Ghostly Quartet, but chances are you'll recognize a good chunk of the music on the playlist the ghosts are playing from...
Need some food? Then take a break on the side of the dance floor, where delicious treats have been arranged neatly on a long buffet table. Tiny finger foods such as spicy lobster rolls, reishi stuffed meatballs, and shimmering shrooms can be found if you want a nice little pick me up. Or, seasoned pumpkin souffle, raspberry-glazed pork chops, traditional shephard's pie, and more are available if you're looking for a larger meal. Don't forget to try one of the many delicious (and completely unhealthy) desserts lovingly prepared for the event, as well as topping it all off with something cold (and sweet) to drink.
James smirked at the girl whole he poured himself some punch. Seeing her turn red he grinned. He had embarrassed her, that's cute. "I was looking in your direction. You look beautiful in that dress by the way. Very...blue. I like blue." He smiled and sipped at the punch his eyes going back over to the other girl. She had been rude no way was that his girl. Hmmm.
He looked at blue dress girl and ran his thumb over the ring on his hand which had now become a habit of his. "You come with anyone? " he hadn't seen anyone but that didn't mean anything.

Is that guy bothering you?" He was just being the kind gentlemen and didn't want any fights happening. Waiiittt could she have a boyfriend? I mean he had a girlfriend. Or for all he knew this could be a jealous ex boyfriend claiming her. Who knows? All he knew is he was being the protective one. It was just in his nature.
He smiled when the lady accepted his punch. "You are very welcome." He still recognized the voice from somewhere. He couldn't pinpoint it. He looked at her appearance and he knew the hair color but a lot of girls had the same hair color. He looked into her eyes and they were a normal eye color too. Huh...he wished he had more clues. He smiled when she nodded in approval. He heard some music and decided maybeeee he could dance with this stranger? Why not right? He tapped his feet to the music and he asked, "I know we don't know each other but would you want to go onto the dance floor with me?" he asked. Take a chance right?
He didn't see his girlfriend yet and he felt like he knew this girl somehow.

James gave the blue dress girl (Vinnie) a smile and glanced at the boy. Were they together? He didn’t want to intrude but he couldn’t help but frown slightly. Turning his attention back to the girl he laughed, “Not often but my girlfriend likes me in a tux so I thought she’d appreciate it.” Smirk. Only time he’d actually worn a tux recently was with his girlfriend now that he thought about it. He simply smiled at her though and raised an eyebrow. “Really….burgundy…” hmmm “why didn’t you wear a burgundy dress than?” He asked sipping at his drink.
Hearing her answer his other question he looked over at the other guy. That means she didn’t come with him right? “Can’t believe anyone would stand you up.” Nope he sure wouldn’t. He looked over his shoulder to find the other girl walking up to him. “I think I did but…I’m not sure….” She acted differently than his girlfriend and it threw him off. Maybe she was just having a really bad night.
He looked as the other girl came over and he raised an eyebrow at her question. Rings? Looking down at his ring which he’d forgotten about he smiled and looked over at the blue dress girl’s hand. “Well I don’t know about you but my girlfriend gave this one to me...” And that was the only reason why he wore it really since rings weren’t his thing. He took another sip of his drink and shrugged. “Coincidence, maye.”

She seemed a bit lost. She even seemed tiny, she must be a first year. He excused himself and went over to her and tapped her shoulder. "Excuse me miss are you looking for someone?" he felt she shouldn't be alone.
SPOILER!!: Vinnie!
After coming back from the little girl who he couldn't help he knew. Kace smiled and was glad she was fine. He could understand why she was distracted I mean there was too many people in here. Plus if you had a boyfriend or girlfriend you wanted to try and find them. He was still looking for Emmy but he wanted to do something besides drinking punch. Aahhh so she didn't know the guy looking at her. He shrugged and it was for the better. I mean he didn't even really even know anyone at this party.
He beamed when she accepted his offer to dance. "Well then let's go out onto the dance floor..." he said bowing down and holding his hand out for her. He liked to be fancy tonight. He never got to do it often. Did he know anyone here? He pursed his lips and he looked around and he didn't. Not yet anyways. "Nahh not yet. I mean I have heard familiar voices but nothing I can pin point on.." he shrugged and lead the lady to the dance floor.
As Kace was going onto the dance floor with a new friend he met, he heard someone say she wanted to dance too. He grinned to himself and tapped her shoulder, "Excuse me miss you can join us.." he said gesturing to himself and the girl (Vinnie). "We are just about to go onto the dance floor.." he said.
Vinnie just watched the dude that had captured her attention as he frowned at the guy next to her...maybe they knew each other? Maybe they were rivals or something. That wouldn't be good, she really didn't need any drama. Her life had finally star"Your girlfriend's got good taste then", she smiled. Something felt so off about all of this though...why did she get this sad feeling when he spoke about his girlfriend?! She knew his girlfriend was eyeing them...but since they were both taken it wasn't a big deal. At least he knew where his girlfriend was. " My boyfriend loves blue so i thought it'd make him happy if i wore a blue dress you know?" To be honest, Vinnie would do anything to make him happy. He had changed her life so much and she could never give it back to him.
He didnt know if the girl over there was his girlfriend? How was that possible? One should be able to recognise their girlfriend, even with a mask on. Especially if they came together."Shouldn't you be sure?" Chuckling the slytherin finished her punch. Luckily the girl over there hadn't heard him say that.Snort. " He wouldn't stand me up i am sure there is a reason for his absence." James would never do anything to make her feel bad, at least not on purpose. Maybe something had come in the way.
Woah woah woah....his girlfriend gave him the ring?! Eyeing the girl now standing there too Vinnie raised an eyebrow."Thats curious...cause i gave the ring to my boyfriend and i have the matching one." She thought they were unique?! But apparently they weren't. People were just lying straight to your face nowadays, pfff.
Vinnie definitely was ready to dance, there was so many confusing things going on a little dancing would take her mind off of things. It also was a good way to make some new friends, partying on your own wasn't quite as fun as partying with people you knew. Gotta make the best of everything. "I hope you got some moves", she laughed and wiggled her eyebrows at her dance floor buddy. Her boyfriend knew how to dance. Or at least how to go with the rhythm. It was always fun to hit the clubs with him for sure. But then again everything was fun with him.
Oh...so he didn't know anyone either?! Wow...maybe some non Hogwartians were here too? Maybe most of the hogwartians weren't here yet?! "I am glad i am not the only one feeling like a complete outsider." Maybe this was some kind of matchmaking event and they didn't even know...some professors were sneaky. " I guess i know you now then." Vinnie smiled and made her way to the dance floor.
James watched her and smiled, "Yeah my little turnip does have good taste." Not to mention it was just all around fun going shopping with her, for multiple reasons. James grinned at the girl and nodded, "I love blue too. Especially royal blue. It's so...pleasant." Now he wished he had worn a blue vest with his tux. OOOOO or maybe green for Vinnie. She probably would have gotten a kick out of that. If he could find her....
Hearing her question he looked at the other girl and shrugged. "One would think but I walked in here and got all confused and just assumed I was with her since she called out to me. But...she doesn't act the same." Probably a little much to share with a stranger but he was seriously confused. He nodded and gave her a small smile, "I hope so."
James stood there and stared at the girl and the ring on her hand for a moment wondering if that was in fact his girlfriend. He hadn't seen anyone else with that ring so she had to be right? But before he could ask she was walking to the dance floor with the other guy and his stomach sank. Suddenly he didn't feel well. Turning back to Isla he smiled slightly but couldn't help glancing a the other two feeling jealous. "You want to dance?" he asked her(Isla). Maybe he could work out whatever was going on.
Zahra took a place right in front of the GHOST QUARTET and started making requests. "PLAY MY JAM NEXT!" she could be heard "asking" as she danced away, all on her own. She wasn't the most "fashion forward" but even Zahra had to admit that the way the lights caught the sparkles of her boots was preeeeeeeeeeeeeetty hot.
Boots were on point.
Hair curled to perfection.
The mask was kind of itchy, but looked pretty epic.
SO the ever confident Gryffindor twirled here, and spun there, and did an entire air drum solo (mimicking the super famous Ascanius Stark).

Kody didn't even know what to think about this masquerade thing. He figured he would probably regret not going if it turned out to be really fun though, so he was there, dressed up and everything, standing in front of the buffet and trying not to look completely and totally awkward.
He was probably failing miserably.
The good thing, though, was that there was someone who was making Kody look less weird. At least in his opinion. He straightened the mask that was covering his face and went over to the girl, trying to look totally confident even though half of his face was covered.

"You like this song?" Cool. Casual.
"UHmmm," Zahra was doing some pretty hard AIR PUMPING to the beat, DANCE DANCE DANCE, but she paused to consider from this DUDE. "Yeah, I guess so. The TRANSPARENT ONES haven't played any of my requests yet though." Pfff.
She was having a good time though.
Zahra shimmied her shoulders and CIRCLED Mr. Dude Person Talking To Her. Whether he knew it or not, he was now dancing with her.

So this was better than standing around being awkward by himself. Because now he was standing around being awkward with someone else. While she danced around him.
At least, he thought it was dancing.
Really, though, his face was hidden and he was in a suit that he'd never worn before and this girl didn't look or sound familiar... so Kody was going to have fun. Because why not?
So he started shimmying his shoulders and spinning with her. And it was awful, but he mostly didn't care.
"Maybe they can't hear you," he suggested. The music was pretty loud.

Zahra's dancing slowed .... at this thought. Then she laughed out loud. "Yeah, they are SELECTIVELY not hearing me. I don't think they know any NEW jams. Like TDK or junk like that," Zahra revved her dancing back up, this time with JAZZ HANDS.
And bumping her butt against his. UH UH BUMP YOUR BUTT.

Kody couldn't help but laugh. "Did you ask for a specific jam or just jams in general?" Because that was an important question and he'd just heard her yelling about playing 'her jam.'
Oh. More dancing. Yes. The fifth year stuck up his hands, jazz hands of course, and BUMPED HER BUTT back.

"I used to have like...this THING...for the drummer of The Dead Kneazles. And I got to go to some of the practices and junk. So I like THEIR jams, you know? Hehe
ANYWHO... Oh.
Oh slower song?
Zahra put her hands up, assuming "the slow dance" position. If... he like wanted to dance. If not, she could tango alone.

It wasn't happening.
The thought almost made her frown, wondering where he was and what he was up to - if he had even come to the ball, because maybe that was why she couldn't find him - but the Ravenclaw girl was quick to brush those thoughts off, because surely everything was fine. Noel was a big boy, and he was probably just enjoying himself and spending time with Maddie somewhere. They'd find each other later, she was certain.
"I suppose I won't introduce myself, then." Hayley smiled once more, grey-blue eyes wandering toward the boy again. "But it does feel weird, not having something to call you." Like a nickname, or something, but typically nicknames led from first names. Hmm.
It was definitely weird, he agreed. And MAYBE it wasn't really a big deal and was the sort of rule that was okay to break? But it seemed she'd decided against introductions, so he was okay going along with that. At least, partly.
"Maybe we could just make up a nickname to use?" David suggested. "Like for me, you could call me Mr. Awesome." He grinned. Totally legit nickname right there, he thought.

And man, did everyone look good! He himself had even managed to dress up. Chance was dressed to the nine in a black sleek tuxedo with a white shirt. Cuff links and polished shoes included. His mask was a simple black and white one that covered half his face. His green eyes shown brightly from behind the mask.
Those eyes were peering around.
Seeing some people chatting, he walked over. "Hello." He stated, and since he was dressed impeccably well, he felt fancy and the need to be fancy. So he bowed. "This ball is quite swell is it not?" More fancy talk. He peered around and took a sip of his drink. Smiling back at the two who were talking. "I'd love to introduce myself but I think that's part of the mystery and magic of tonight yes?"

Swell? The fourth year's smile grew just a tiny bit, rather amused by his use of the word. "I think you're right," Hayley looked from the new boy to her first companion, and back again. "We were just talking about that. It wouldn't be much of a masquerade ball, if we did."
Aaaand someone else had decided to join. Another David didn't recognize, which was basically the theme of the event.
He nodded. Yup, they'd been talking about the same thing. "I guess that's supposed to be part of the fun. And getting to come up with new nicknames." Which he thought was fun, but whether they'd go along with it, he didn't know.

Oh. Ohh. "Oh." Kody nodded. "I don't even know if these guys know who The Dead Kneazles are." He wasn't going to try to find out either. The girl could handle it if she wanted to.
... oh no. A slow song.
Kody eyed her hands up in the air for a second before stepping closer to her. He took one of her hands and placed his other hand on her waist, making a face. "I can't dance. Just so you know." It was probably a good idea to warn her before he stepped on her toes or something.

She was curious about one thing. Why was the mysterious woman tossing drinks over her shoulder. "What's with this tossing drinks over your shoulder routine?" she asked in a softer voice.
Oh, so she wasn't mad then? Okay great. Maybe. Maybe not so great. The girl was laughing like an axe murderer about to commit an execution so... Why would anyone think SHE was a professor? Even in her sparkly heels, she was too short, entirely not shaped like the woman, and only 14. It didn't take much to fool people, did it? Should she let him know of his mistake, or... maybe not. Whoever it was would forgive the Headmistress for spitting lobster on his shoes more easily than he would a third year Slytherin.
"That..." She pointed dismissively at the discarded food on the floor. "That was disgusting." Hair flip, re-application of shiny lip gloss, tilt of the hip. Woman stuff, yup. "Do you know which common room to escort him back to? Perhaps you should try for catch and release this time. Forgive and forget. Have some punch, because it is pink and delicious."
First his suit and now HIS SHOES?! Well, shoe specifically since it had only deflected off the one...but was that really necessary?! No more novelty mugs for you, Headmistress!
"It certainly was," he said, looking down on the chewed carcass of whatever it was that the woman had been eating. He wasn't referring to the food obviously, seeing as he had not tried anything off the table yet. But his shoe. HIS SHOE!
Catch and release? Was she calling him a fish? Maddox wasn't a fish, that was Tiberius' form. Poor woman was mistaken.
"Hufflepu---" he began before being offered some punch.

Merlin he didn't. "M'ry wvt dy ou d'in?! X m' wno!" Bloody hell. Of all the times to take his advice he chose NOW??? Maddox swatted at his hand but it seemed his friend was determined to hang on tight...and haul him over to Miss Wojack. Well she had the hair, he'd give Airey that much. How strong was this spell anyway and why would anyone agree to something this dangerous?? Then they wondered why he'd thrown on the counter spell with such immediacy before stepping inside.
This was absolute dung.
Blue eyes rested on Dot, wondering if she'd actually go with the nutty Professor and she DID--but wait, catch and release. Maddox began nodding with urgency but stopped when he felt the pressure at his ear. "Tl 'm gt 'fff 'ee!!!" Ugh, what was the use, she'd never understand.
And just like that he was SAVED! Or practically saved. "MmHstrsss!" Maddox waved wildly in an attempt to get her attention, knocking the cupcake from...oh Miss Lynch (sorry about that). "M' mMMmPh ryR." Or maybe he'd just apologize after, yeah?
Back to wild waving and gesturing in the hopes the Headmistress wouldn't dismiss it as not her problem.
He wanted his wand back but he was above punching a colleague--especially one he liked more often than not. HELP.
...only he was rudely interrupted by the student protesting his punishment.
"No, no punch for you," he scolded. "You revoked your right to punch when you displayed such atrocious behavior." Maddox would be SO proud that he was showing a firm hand. He would have to tell this stellar tale at their next game night. He couldn't wait!
Now would this student just STOP with the flailing!?
The astronomer tugged on his ear a bit in a feeble attempt to make the boy STOP, when he caught the object of said flailing out of the corner of his eye. Girlfriend? Who was that?
Waving with his free hand towards ... er.... whoever that was, he smiled big. Nooooooothing to see over here. The professor and the Headmistress had it all taken care of!

And where did the gosh darn thing land...right on the floor at her feet the frosting splattering onto her shoes and the bottom of her dress. For a moment the small Slytherin just stood there a slight look of surprise on her face more then annoyance. It had been a good cupcake and well no it was on the floor and her dress. Sadness dude...sadness...
Letting out a breath of frustration Hady lifted her gaze a moment only to see the one that had knocked into her was the much taller boy being dragged around by her ear. He'd clearly said something but she couldn't make out what it had been. Right now it wasn't important her dress was and so was the mess of ruined cupcakey goodness.
At least she had her wand with her or this would've been much worse cause orange so didn't work with this dress...not tonight. Pulling her wand from it's holder she muttered a quiet cleaning charm under her breath first taking care of the cupcake on the floor and then a quick 'scourgify' on her dress and shoes. There much better.
Even though she was clean she was done eating. Sugar or no sugar she didn't want anything else. So that left uh dancing? Maybe... or someone to talk to?... Hady cast a glance around to see if anyone had noticed hopefully not.
Gasping in horror as the Hufflepuff student ruined ANOTHER person's outfit that evening, he was please to see that she quickly remedied the issue with a well placed cleaning charm.
"Here, allow me," he said with a flick of his wand as he summoned another cupcake for her with a quick wink. And if she didn't want it, she could smash it in this student's face for all he cared.
His behavior was entirely inexcusable!

That was good know. Not that Gabe didn't know. He did, indeed, know.
"I like the spicy, yes...but the cheese is so creamy in that quiche."
OH. Right. Prefect duties. He had to promote...areas, right?
"There's voting...on best dressed, of course. Also, a photobooth. I haven't ventured there, yet." MORE SMILING. Nope, not difficult at all.
Spicy hmm she wasn't all that into spicy things, but creamy, that sounded good. "Maybe I'll pass on the Spicy, it usually upsets my stomach, but I am going to take you up on the Quiche suggestion."
So she was doing the quiche, yes that was perfect. What else though. Hmm she couldn't decide, maybe she'd try a bit of everything. If she didn't like it, she didn't have to eat it all.
"How do you vote on someone when you don't know who anyone is?" That was very confusing. Looking around, she liked many outfits, but who were people. "Who are you?" Could they ask that? Why couldn't she have remembered the spell that the Headmistress had given them.
"I like getting my picture taking, maybe I'll have to go there next. Let's get our picture together." That could be fun, pictures with students! She would have snapped if her hands weren't holding her plate.

hmmmm
"The Quiche, alright I'll try.." but no someone else was saying something. Looking over towards the new voice she smiled, "Well maybe I'll just have to try both." She was hungry so why not.
"So are you all enjoying your evening? What else is fun to do?" The dancing seemed to be something she might like, but should she dance? She looked around for Leo, but haha, because of that spell she wouldn't know who he was. Though there was a carriage ride too. Maybe she could try that.

If only she had drank it when provided in the Divination/History of Magic lesson, but she had forgotten to.
"I was thinking about the shepherds pie because I at least know what it is," she added while scanning the food on the table some more. Yep. She had no idea what some of these dishes were. No matter because dancing was brought up!! [b]"Pfft, let's just dance together. It will be fuuuuun.

Puck smiled confusedly at the shorter blonde woman who had just appeared. “Yes, and we…well, the food is great” she added as she didn’t know who was around and really? The mystery was the best part. Who knew the attractive guy could have an unfortunate personality otherwise? Yes? Also, food.
That was an odd compliment a bit...the music playing from the Ghost Quartet only causing her to grin even more widely c’mon how could she not smile when they were playing a tribute to one of her favorite bands ever?
”gosh, I love this song,” she muttered slightly before turning back to the guy in black and their new companions…hey look this guy must’ve been living the dream? Three obviously beautiful women near him? Heh. “I’ll have to try the quiche next,” she grinned over to him.
“Nice mask by the way…it makes your eyes seem almost” she shrugged her shoulder slightly “like the color of honey?” she smiled and picked up one of the quiches before turning her attention to the woman in the red dress…”I have to say your dress looks great on you,” she indicated her head to the lady in question. The other dress of course was also great really. “yours is very colorful, I love it these events often lack color,” she grinned as she listened to the discussion of the locations.
“The photobooth is quite fun I look a photograph with someone earlier while wearing a mustache” she shrugged and beamed at the Professors. Honestly. This not knowing people was sort of making it easier be be herself and not the person everyone thought she was. And that sounded delicious. Really. Taking one of the little Quiches off of the buffet she jus smiled and took a small bite. Spicy. So spicy…but good.
“it’s kind of as spicy as muggle thai food,” she grinned as really she loved the unique food options she usually tried. Oh Red, she would dance with her? Really! Yay! Grinning she finished her food and disposed of it quickly.
“The lobster rolls are also quite devine – spicy, light and you can taste the natural salt of the lobster…and its not rubbery? The house elves did great work with the food tonight” she grinned and took a step away from the table.
“If you guys want to join red…here,” she indicated to the redhaired girl and smiled, “and I were about to start a dancing thing as we’re…well currently partnerless or well…don’t know where our partners are if we had them to begin with” she laughed and beamed at the group around her yep. She was being friendly. They way she had been before she had become almost jaded for such a young girl.

Alright so it was part of it, but only part. He raised an eyebrow at her final words to him...the part about her not biting.
Almost sounded like Angel's smart mouth.
Again he momentarily debated, taking another sip of his drink. "Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt," Benny said, finally giving in and setting his glass down and out of the way. This time he was the one who held out his hand to her, albeit still a little tentatively.
"Shall we?"
Okay, he still sounded hesitant. But, she meant what she said about not biting. Plus, wouldn't it be weirder to be just standing here the entire time with people dancing all around?
"Great." she replied, taking the guy's hand and letting him lead. 'Cause, you know, polite thing to do and all. "So, what do you think of this whole 'no one recognizes anyone' thing?" Surely, he had connected that and the weird feeling at the entrance. "Everyone seems to have worked really hard on this, huh?" At least they knew no one could sneak in. Place was like a fort! And hopefully, they had warned the giant spiders to stay away.

As Kace was asking the girl he thought he knew to dance, she was gonna get some food. He swore her voice sounded familiar. He grinned and he knew food was important. "Yeah sure that is fine." he said with a wink. "I mean food is more important anyways." he joked with her (Puck) a bit. Plus he saw her eyeing this one guy (Gabe) in the mask and he let her.

Now his attention on mystery girl. "Yeah she does have great taste. It is nice to know how similar we are." he smiled complimenting her. But now onto her talking about her boyfriend. "Aahh well look at you. I am sure he could find you easily then?" he winked and nudged her. He knew that voice from somewhere but he couldn't pinpoint it. It was annoying him. "I mean I don't know if I am sure and that is how I feel about Emmy. She wouldn't stand me up. Maybe she is busy with her friends or somewhere else?" he second guessed himself.
Did he have moves? He scoffed and was going to be confident and have some moves even though he couldn't really dance. "Well I hope you have some moves too." he assured his new dance partner. He wiggled his eyebrows and laughed at it. It felt good to not let anyone who he was for a night. Kace smiled and nodded and bowed to her, "Why yes mademoiselle now you know me as your prince for the night.." he winked and took her hand and began dancing.

It was okay to be nervous, right? Because she was nervous...
So, so, nervous.
But in a good way. Standing a fair distance away from the tent, Medea smiled and took a deep breath. Having used a moment to revel in the fact that she was back at Hogwarts again for what felt like the first time in forever, she carefully placed the mask upon her face before slipping into the tent. Of course, not before a certain little counter charm was cast. She would indeed like to know and remember the faces she'd encounter tonight.
And goodness there many faces already present. Masks, she corrected herself. Though she'd be lying if she said she wasn't already subtly searching for one in particular. The buffet area had a very nice view of everything and everyone to do just that.

As a lot of people came up to the girl she was talking to, Lux figured that she must be popular whoever she was. Lux wasn't popular herself, but she didn't care in the least because she was happy with the friends she had as they were all amazing.
Not following the conversation very well, she contented herself with checking out the food some more, trying some of the things that didn't look too strange. Actually...it wasn't bad. A pleasant surprise for someone who loved food the way that she did. A disappointing buffet was never a good thing and so far this one was not bad at all.
As dancing with them was mentioned, Lux nodded. "Yes! We should all dance together! It would be fun. Oooh, we could have a dance off!!" That was always a blast.

The little butterfly girl was having a moment of sheer indecisiveness. She didn't know what she really wanted to do at that moment. It would've been so much easier if she had a friend at her side...unfortunately these masks everyone was wearing made that a bit hard.
Just as she was thinking about moving to the dance floor the older guy/man that bumped her moments before spoke to her, a flick of his wand sending a new cupcake to her. Hady smiled softly accepting it with a soft "Thanks" her eyes meeting his face just in time to notice the quick wink he gave her. A wink...and those eyes. She knew them...she did. Uh..oh um Professor Airey! It had to be right? Yes? She grinned lightly shifting her attention to older girls when she heard a group of them talking about dancing.

It had actually been the mention of a dance off that had really captured her attention. She could always ask to join them but then again...they were all older and such maybe it'd be a bad idea. Anyhow there was someone she owned a dance to...well not a 'dance' but the promise of showing 'she' could dance and she needed to find this person. No where were they?
Angel had no idea, what was going on. She just wished that she knew what was going on and who was who but she didn't, know she wanted to go over to someone but they all seemed to be talking, she would just stand here and wait and see if anyone would come over to her... that would be a lot better than her going around making a fool of herself right.

I'll try looking at the dance floor next.'' Pause. "Want to go with me? Maybe you could find Adi.'' Plus he reallllly wanted to dance with her.
Of course. Food was always on AJ's mind, wasn't it? "I think there's fancy food.'' Not think. He KNEW there was actually fancy food. "I'm not sure if there's anything chocolate though.'' Hehe.
"Because you're AJ. That band on your hand is the one Adi gave you and you talk about unicorns plus you mentioned your sister forced you into the dress.'' Okaaaaay, maybe he was talking waaaay too much. Benny was a bestie of few, few, few words. Benny had been present at the Gryffindor table at the time he had slipped the band on AJ's hand so... yep. Adi's identity was safe.
Adi recognised more plants including a few Flutterby Bushes but where were the creatures, man? Were they lurking behind trees? Hmph. Adi wanted to see them too but he'd rather look at AJ. He knew he knew he couldn't make it too obvious that he was doing so because it wasn't something Benny would do. "We're almost back at the Lake.'' Adi could see the line of students and probably Professors waiting for their turn with the carriages.
So, he did know who she was talking about after all? In spite of it all, the mystery was kind of fun. AJ wanted to enjoy the night but she wanted the clock to strike midnight too so she could see who was sitting beside her once on for all. Deciding that two pair of eyes were better than one, she agreed. "Yeah, I'll go. I really want to find them." The whole dance floor thing didn't even register because her mind was on finding Adi and Angel.
"Aw man." Tacos sure would hit the spot right about now. Maybe those girly girls didn't want to get anything on their dresses. They were wizards for crying out loud though. Wasn't there a spell for that? "Maybe I can conjure some tacos." Yeah right, like her magic was that good. "No chocolate?" That was an outrage. She would be taking this up with Adi... whenever she found him.
As he went on about details concerning AJ, she couldn't help but to stare into his eyes. There was something about them. The spell they were all under was throwing her off her game though. He knew her very well apparently so she couldn't play off that she wasn't herself anymore. "Okay, I'm AJ." The details ruled out Zander. She doubted he knew about the band that Adi gave her. "I believe it's you, Benny." Although, he did seem a little more chatty than normal. Maybe it was the ball. Something else clicked for her. Benny was playfully pushed. "That means you know how I feel about Adi. I love him more than anything. He's the one, Benny." Too much information, Valentine. "Um, can you keep that between us?" Yeah, Adi knew how she felt but did he know just how strong her feelings were? What a night to go babbling stuff like that.
Catwoman was almost sad that their carriage ride was coming to an end. She decided to soak up the rest of the scenery while she still could. "Fairies!" They seemed to be twinkling. "I guess it's only fair to go to the ball because the party doesn't start until I walk in." She hoped the music would be good.
"You can't conjure food,'' Adi corrected. "I'm not too sure about the chocolate. You can have a look when we get there.'' He smiled slightly as the talk continued about the two of them. "He talks the same way about you so I assumed the feeling was mutual.'' True, true. Benny did know how Adi felt about AJ. Despite the lights strung up and thus illuminating everywhere as the carriage rolled by, it was still dark enough for Adi to turn his head just a bit to smile happily to himself. His and AJ's bond was pretty strong but she had never told him that she knew he's 'the one'. Seriously, yo, this Badger was on cloud nine but he had to keep in character. Wouldn't it be weird if 'Benny' started jumping and started doing silly stuff out of happiness? LOL. Anywayyy. "Sure. Your secret is safe.''
....................
After helping AJ down from the carriage, Adi and continuing their conversation as he led the way to the Dance floor, his eyes taking in everything as he paused for a moment. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. This was so awesome! Now that he was here, he was going to get a dance with AJ. The only problem was convincing her sine she was still under the impression he was Benny. "May I have this dance?'' he asked extending his arm. "Adi wouldn't mind.'' Also true. Benny was the only other dude Adi would not mind dancing with AJ so pleaseee say yes.
He we go, into the tent. Nemo was about to look for his fellow musketeers when... Oh... What was he gonna do again?
He wasn't sure but who cared? He was going to have fun tonight. He wished Whytty could have been there, though he wouldn't have remembered she was if she had been there. So it didn't seem to matter. But he was dressed like his favorite character from his favorite book and his mask covered his entire face, good look recognizing him other people.
Right... there seemed to be dancing and food here.. He wasn't concerned with riding the animals or voting on contests, Nemo didn't care for most creatures, plus he was pretty sure they smelled and didn't want feathers on him. The costume vote was just going to be a popularity contest. Or at least he thought it would be. He wasn't aware no one else could recognize anyone either.
So what to do? He only came to this thing to hang out with Damien.. But where was that guy?
This was really kind of weird. Being in a room full of people he went to school with but not knowing or recognising anyone at all. Even those whose faces he could see weren't ringing any bells for this kid. Toby had to wonder, if he ran into Soph or Forrest or Luc or Eden or anyone like that... would he really not recognise them at all? The more he tried to picture them, the more difficult it became, so he gave UP on that because it was starting to make his brain hurt. Nothing wrong with playing along, RIGHT?
Toby's first stop was, naturally, the food table. Hogwarts always tended to push the boat out for activities like this, and he was absolutely prepared to eat until he could no longer move. And maybe he'd find Soph here. She liked food too, right? Or... did she?
Perhaps because he was so distracted by trying to remember that, or perhaps it was the sudden view of the FOOD that had diverted his attention, but Toby suddenly found himself almost about to walk smack bang into someone else. ALMOST.
He stopped himself just in time, and took a couple of quick half steps back. "Sorry, my bad," Toby said, though he actually had collided into the other person. "I was... distracted." By food. Absolutely the food. It was close by now and looking nothing short of resplendent. "... Cool mask."
Mildly terrifying. But cool. NOW... was this someone he knew, or was it better to just not even ponder that question?

"Oh yeah. There are laws." A transfiguration lesson came flooding into her mind. Whoever made up those rules was a git. The possibilities were endless when it came to being able to have food in the flick of a wand. What was the problem with this again? Too much concentration on food was happening. Benny was talking about her and Adi again. "I don't know if he thinks I am the one, but I know what we have is awesome." That was good enough for her for now. Benny had agreed to keep her secret safe. "Thanks, man." Now would be a good time to ask about Angel, but she was enjoying the Adi talk too much to steer the conversation that way.
Batman was being a gentleman again. "Thank you." She wasn't a girl that needed help, but the gesture was nice all the same. Plus, this wasn't Adi so she was going to cut her friend some slack. He wanted to dance. "I thought we were going to find Adi and Angel." Wouldn't he rather dance with his own girlfriend? He apparently wasn't going to let this go. "Ummm..." Benny was one of her best friends and it really was completely harmless. Conflicting thoughts were going on in her mind. If there was any doubt that it wasn't Benny beneath his costume she never would have agreed. Finally deciding on having some fun she accepted his outstretched arm. "I'd love to."

"I bet Adi thinks those laws suck.'' Uh huh. He did think so. Was there any way at all to beat those laws? Adi had little doubt that many persons had tried to find a loophole or two with them.
"He does.'' The words were out of his mouth before he could stop himself. Quick! Change tactics, Adi. "I mean, did you see how much of a bad shape he was in when you two fought?" Ahh, it was soooo much easier indeed to be pretending to be someone you're close to. It was easier to remember facts about that person when you were under pressure. And for good measure... "He cried for you.'' What you looking at? He wasn't afraid to admit that he could be REALLY sensitive sometimes and that had shed tears for not just any girl in front of his guy bestie. "You're welcome.''
"We can try to find them later.'' AJ wasn't going to get suspicious, was she? Benny and dancing didn't actually go hand in hand. Adi was rather enjoying this game of mistaken identity. Hehe. And she didn't refuse! YESH! Resisting the urge to kiss her, the Puffer held her hand with his and put the other one lightly above her waist. "I'm not too good of a dancer so don't mind me.''
