He we go, into the tent. Nemo was about to look for his fellow musketeers when... Oh... What was he gonna do again?

He wasn't sure but who cared? He was going to have fun tonight. He wished Whytty could have been there, though he wouldn't have remembered she was if she had been there. So it didn't seem to matter. But he was dressed like his favorite character from his favorite book and his mask covered his entire face, good look recognizing him other people.

Right... there seemed to be dancing and food here.. He wasn't concerned with riding the animals or voting on contests, Nemo didn't care for most creatures, plus he was pretty sure they smelled and didn't want feathers on him. The costume vote was just going to be a popularity contest. Or at least he thought it would be. He wasn't aware no one else could recognize anyone either.

So what to do? He only came to this thing to hang out with Damien.. But where was that guy?

Maddox took a step back, eyeing his colleague as if the man had gone mad before realizing that Airey DID, in fact, forget the counter spell and was as hopelessly lost as the students. This was just his luck--actually...this was just his luck!

The Charms Professor stuffed both hands in his pockets, deciding there would be no harm in having his own fun. "50? You wouldn't dare take 50 points from Hufflepuff, Professor, just who do you think you are?" In case Airey made good on the promise to take points before the night was out. He'd thank him in the morning when they're lead grew substantially.

"It's just a suit, nothing to blow your top over--here lemme get that for you." And with a flick of his wand the man's suit NOW had a bright red spot.

"Roar roar Gryffindor, right?" Heh. This WAS fun.

Airey was in full on finger wagging mode now, his right index finger so close to the student's face that he was practically flicking his nose with every movement. "There is no room for sass when my suits are concerned," he reminded the apparent Hufflepuff. "Now I suggest you brush up on..."

"100! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE HUNDREEEEEEEEED!" he roared. The astronomer cared not that the student perhaps still did not recognize that they were speaking to a professor - he knew how the spell worked - but it was no excuse to be so RUDE and to disrespect his SUIT! HIS TUXEDO SUIT! His eyes piercing the air as he stared down the Hufflepuff - probably another one of those who went masquerading around as an honorary Gryffindor - he fumbled around for his own wand in the pockets of his trousers. "Now if you don't want a detention as well, I highly recommend you remove that Jupiter-side red spot."

Moxley was in a fabulous mood and it only complimented her fabulous outfit. Everyday should be a masquerade because this professor had magic and mystery down to a science.

She hummed to herself as she entered the tent, pleased to see she wasn't the first to arrive. Fashionably late, she was. Also alone but she figured she'd find someone to chat with eventually. She was extreeeemely popular. Universally loved. Meredith Moxley, Hogwarts' own golden girl...err-professor.

...Now where was the food? She heard there were going to be chocolate frog cupcakes and she needed one right this instant.

People.

Way. To. Many. People.

And Hady didn't recognize anyone. Not one single person. This was sad really. Not only wasn't she able to tell who any of her friends were or if any of them were even here she was completely and totally out of her comfort zone. This whole mask, dress and shoes thing just wasn't exactly....HER.

It's not so much that she hated what she was wearing because she didn't! Not at all it was gorgeous but it wasn't green. Not even a tiny bit...oh and no snakes either. Not one snake and no green. Isn't that horrible? Then the heels...stupid idea!

Anyhow she came because it was a school event and it might just happen to get her mind on better things. So that's how she came to be standing off to the side near a wall her hands lightly clasped together in front of her trying to find someone she could recognize. Or maybe someone would recognize her since she was really small for her age? Even if she did look older in her costume and like a total girl...

Maybe some food was in order? Something comforting to lift her spirits and make her not think about how girly she looked. Or dancing...yeah dancing was nice and she could dance...not that anyo- oh wait someone did know and she had promised to show them... Hmmm

Norah teetered around in her heels until she found the most importantest part of the entire night: the FOOD. Wearing a mask made everything hard enough to see and stuff, but the high heels made everything a bazillion times harder. This was a bad idea. Bad bad bad idea. She should've worn sneakers or something, she probably couldn't even DANCE with these dumb shoes on. Not that she even knew how to dance--or anybody would ever ask her, which they wouldn't. The shoes did make her tall though. That was new.

The third year leaned over the table and plucked a meatball from a platter which she placed promptly in her mouth and--MERLIN. What was this stuff MADE OF? Norah's eyes widened under her mask and she picked up two more meatballs and ate them quickly. Nobody knew who she was, okay? They couldn't blame her for eating all the meatballs. Although the sparkly mask and nail polish may have given her away...ahem. She spotted a pile of plates at the end of the table and teetered over with a fourth meatball between her fingers when--"MY MEATBALL!" Oops. Hadn't meant to shout, but it was a big deal, alright? She eyed the boy (Zeke) she'd crashed into but had no idea who it was. "Sorry! I mean, um. Hi! Who're you? I just...my meatball" Stupid shoes. They ruined everything.

While getting ready for said ball, Hayley had every intention of looking for her friends to hang out with, Noel first - just to check up on him, though she was certain he would be spending the evening with another Ravenclaw girl (not that she minded one bit, she didn't. It was a good thing.), and then Chloe and Grace, if she could find them - they were always difficult to locate at these events, especially being so opposite of the other.. hm. But no matter, atleast she knew who to look for.

.. Or not, apparently. The tent was decorated beautifully, it almost looked - and felt, - like a dream.. and rather quickly, Hayley realized she had no idea what Noel, Chloe, or Grace were even wearing.. but hadn't she.. oh, never mind.

Adjusting her mask slightly, grey-blue eyes gazed around the room as she slowly ventured around the side of the dance floor, toward the buffet even though she wasn't very hungry. Listening closely to the music that played and probably not paying enough attention to those closerby, the Ravenclaw continued to gaze around the room, wondering why it was she didn't recognize a single peer yet.

David wasn't particularly excited over this thing, but he decided to go anyway. It would probably still be fun - loads more than staying in his dorm and doing homework or something. His friends would probably be here after all.

But then he was here and...it felt like there was no way he could possibly find his friends in here. Huh. Well...this MIGHT make things a little more difficult.

But that was FINE. He could still socialize. He NEEDED to, really. Homework and studying was so boring and kept him away from hanging out with people. So he was staying.

And there was a pretty girl over there looking kinda lost, so maybe she'd be good to talk to first, whoever she was.

"'Sup," he said with a grin. "Pretty cool party, isn't it?"

Sup? Pausing, and turning slightly to look properly at whoever was behind her, and possibly speaking to her - nope, definitely speaking to her, Hayley offered a small, but bright little smile. "It is so far, actually.. I'm impressed," Not that she normally wasn't, but it really was a masquerade ball. Like an actual one. Everyone appeared dressed up, and in costume, and the music.. she liked the music.

"I would introduce myself, but I'm not sure.. are we suppose to do that?" Her smile grew just a bit, curious grey-blue eyes resting on the boy. She was fairly certain she didn't know him, but at the moment, that wasn't saying a whole lot when it felt as though she didn't know anyone around her. Besides the point, really. What was proper Masquerade etiquette?

Hearing the familiar sound of Pink Floyd being played by the band, Dylan Callaghan found himself wandering over to the dance floor where many unrecognizable people were dancing (it was hard to tell who anyone was because of y'know...the masks and all). Adjusting his own mask on his face, he glanced around himself to see if he could recognize anyone. Sadly, he still couldn't tell. Oh, well. He was just happy Wish You Were Here was being played. Standing near the side of the dance floor, he tapped his foot along to the music as he continued searching for any of his friends.

Vinnie was so excited for this masquerade thing. She had picked an extra beautiful dress and it would be so much fun. Just partying it away. They really needed a party...all of them. Especially the seventh years though, with all the NEWT stuff going on it was good to relax for a bit.

As she entered the tent on the grounds the brunette got hit by a strange feeling in her stomach. Hmmm...this was weird. Running her hand through her hair she shrugged and looked around.

Oh....

She didnt know anyone here. Where was her date? Did she even bring a date? The Slytherin had no idea. Where did all these strangers come from? Until now she thought she knew pretty much everyone, or at least a lot of people. Apparently she was wrong.

Time for a drink. Something to drink never hurt and maybe she would even pick a piece of food up. This was supposed to be a good feast and you needed energy to party. At the buffet Vinnie bumped into two guys, probably having the same idea. "What do you guys think of the mysterious midnight punsh?"

James looked around trying to piece together if he knew anyone else but simply couldn't. It was rather aggravating at that. How were you supposed to enjoy yourself if you don't know anyone? A nightmare for a non-social person that was for sure. Good thing he liked to be social.

His eyes ran across the crowd and he spotted someone in an absolutely fantastically blue dress and his eyes focused on her as she walked over to the buffet. He let his eyes follow her as he tried to figure out who that was. He wanted to go over to talk to her but then he didn't want to get yelled at so he chose to stand there watching her. When he saw her talk to two other guys what felt like jealousy went through him but that couldn't be since he was with his girl. What was this?

Chance was perched by the refreshment table. He was picking off food from the table and glancing around at all the people. Was that Puck? Was that Bianca? You couldn't be sure. He tried to decipher some of the mannerisms that h knew they had, but he wasn't sure.

And man, did everyone look good! He himself had even managed to dress up. Chance was dressed to the nine in a black sleek tuxedo with a white shirt. Cuff links and polished shoes included. His mask was a simple black and white one that covered half his face. His green eyes shown brightly from behind the mask.

Those eyes were peering around.

Seeing some people chatting, he walked over. "Hello." He stated, and since he was dressed impeccably well, he felt fancy and the need to be fancy. So he bowed. "This ball is quite swell is it not?" More fancy talk. He peered around and took a sip of his drink. Smiling back at the two who were talking. "I'd love to introduce myself but I think that's part of the mystery and magic of tonight yes?"

As Kace was beginning to examine the punch and food, he got quite hungry. He was really wondering where Emmy was. He needed to look for a short cute girl in a dress in heels. She maybe getting ready with Cinna. You know how girls are, they need so much time to get ready. He never understood it. His stomach was rumbling so he began to fill his plate and then he heard a familiar voice. He couldn't quite but his finger on it but he turned around and noticed a girl in a sparkling blue dress and he raised his eyebrows in awe. He tried to see behind the mask but he didn't wanna get wrong who it was.

She asked how the punch was and he shrugged and took a little cup and filled it up."Ermm it is not bad actually.." he said taking a sip. Then he noticed a dude was walking up towards her. He might be a boyfriend of this girl? He couldn't figure who it was. "Would you like me to pour you some?" he offered the girl. He nodded towards the guy (James) and wondered who he could be.

The Ravenclaw had no idea what was going on. She just looked at the mean girl in front of her, who was demanding her to clean up her cupcake crumbs? "Excuse me, but I have no intention of being the cleaning lady here. Do it yourself...The spell, Scourgufy..." She snapped back and looked at the guy she was holding arms with. "Ummm, chocolate frog cupcakes, I think? And no, they're not spiked, they're perfectly normal and delicious." She said, offering a cupcake to him. The guy reminded her of someone, whose name was in the tip of her tongue. UGH. What was going on with her head there?

And just then, the girl who had given her the cupcake appeared, right on time to tell the mean girl that her shoes weren't even that nice. OOOOH. The Ravenclaw just raised her eyebrows and hoped this wasn't going to turn into a heated...wait, maybe she did want some drama, at least for one night. HEH. "We could go find some other food around the table, wanna come?" She asked the nice smile girl (BIANCA), and linked their arms.

Vinnie waited for the two guys to notice her and answer, cause she really wanted to try that punch. Just because of the cool name...but if it tasted bad it would be waste. So she needed an opinion. If she had come with someone or at least KNEW someone she would ask them but since she didnt....might as well make new friends. Even if it was just for tonight. Who knew?!

"Not bad? Does that mean its worth a try?" Cause if it wasnt she would go with butterbeer. Not bad....never sounded too convincing. But the guy next to her was already offering her a cup and it was rude to say no. "Sure, that would be lovely." He was actually quite nice...maybe the brunette could talk to him for a while. Get to know the party crowd.

He seeeemed familiar but the Slytherin had no idea where to put that blond boy. There were a lot of blond dudes around so there was an endless list of who it could be. There was a reason they were wearing masks tonight so Vinnie let it slip.

Waiting for her cup of punsh she let her eyes wander across the room. A bit further away she spotted a guy looking very dapper in his outfit. There was something about him that just drew her attention to him. But he was here with a girl...maybe his girlfriend? Sigh.

Kace thought the girl look familiar but then again he noticed a lot of brunettes in this school and this area. He couldn't put his finger on who it is. "Yeah it is worth a try..." he said scooping up and pouring another drink into his cup. Aahh so the women wanted some punch. He grinned and poured her a glass. "Here you go mademoiselle.." he said being a little polite. I mean dressed all fancy you kind of need to.

He even heard a voice he knew instantly but he rolled with it. He smiled and said, "Do I know you?" he asked not knowing if he knew this guy or not.

Vinnie couldnt help but still kind of stare at the guy (James) standing a bit further. She really didnt want to come off as creepy but she couldnt help it. What was with that guy?! His girlfriend would come over and punch her any time. Sigh...where were all of her friends?! Where was the person she was supposed to be here with ?!

And then the blond dude gave her her drink. the brunette could do with some punsh right now. Maybe that would make her loosen up and want to dance..later. Dancing on your own was kind of odd. "Oh thank you very much kind, sir. I am delighted." If he wanted to fancy talk she was totally in. After all this was a fancy masquerade with fancy dresses. Taking a sip of it Vinnie nooded in approval. It wasnt too bad.

James pulled his eyes away from the blue dress girl long enough to take the cupcake that was offered and smiled. "Thanks, I do love chocolate." He turned his attention back to the blue dress girl and smirked as he caught her staring at him too. There was something about her but he couldn't put his finger on it.

He looked around to make sure she wasn't staring at anyone else and grinned taking a bite of the cupcake. Yup she was staring at him. He turned to the girl on his arm and looked thoughtful. "I think I'm going to get something to drink." He let go of her arm and walked up the punch bowl next to the blue dress girl. "Was it my imagination or were you staring at me."

When he had heard about the prefect event, from both announcements and just a little hint from his best friend, Ben wasn't exactly sure of his feelings over the whole matter. Being dressed up to the nines...wearing masks to hide your identity. The Gryffindor was already more on the shy side then fully open for anything so this was kinda out of his comfort zone. Add to that the outfit he had wound up choosing to wear for the evening, complete with said mask over the upper portion of his face leaving just his eyes noticeable and a top hat on top.

He supposed the man reason for this was supporting his friends who had put this all together. Especially Adi. And in part Zander. Merlin knew his fellow Gryffindor could use some good things happening in his life. Of course there was no way of knowing where everyone was. Benny looked around for familiar faces as he made his way down to the area of the grounds set aside for the masquerade. But alas, as he came to be by the buffet, there was no one he could peg by any name. Even as he continued to look around after grabbing a drink for himself.

Sigh...this could be interesting.

Vinnie was supposed to pay attention to what the people around her were saying ....and she was trying but somehow it wasnt quite working. The punsh wasnt too bad either. All in all this was going fairly well...if she didnt look at the fact that she apparently didn't know anyone at all.

Wait....was she seeing things already or was the dude coming into her direction?! Oh no...was he gonna give her a talk?! Did she upset his girlfriend?! If someone stared at her boyfriend like that the brunette certainly would not be amused. Trying to be as casual as possible she just stood there sipping and nodding her head to the music. The full on dancing hadnt started yet.

Theeeeerrre it all went...thanks to being miss obvious he had noticed her looking at him. Awesome. Blushing a deep shade of red Vinnie wished her mask would cover more of her face." I....uhh...i didnt mean to stare. Sorry. I just thought...you were looking into my direction"

Aegis pointed at the other boy once he spoke up about how there was no one here he could recognize. "That's what I mean, that's what's weird!" No one would have agreed to have come to this party if they knew were going to mind wiped like this. It was sort of like a mind wipe. Probably not. He hadn't forgotten anything, just faces, and masks don't come off in masquerades. It's like a major rule or whatever.

He set that minor issue aside for the time, surely the Prefects would have means of letting everyone see each other by the end of the night.


"Music is nice." Aegis agreed. "In fact, I think it's good enough to dance to." He swirled over and laid a hand out to the Mystery girl. "Would you care for one, M'Lady?" He adjusted his mask on his face just a bit then fixed his bowtie around his collar. Surely it was his duty to take her out for the first dance, shame the other boy didn't jump at the chance.

Stopping for a second to make sure her mask was still in place, Heather entered the dance/food area and.....wait what was that? And what was she doing? Why couldn't she recognize anyone? Something was afoot here.......

.....but oh well. This was a happy night, or it was supposed to be anyway, and one of her favorite songs was playing. In fact, she even started singing along once it got to the chorus. "Long road to ruin, there in your eyes, under the cold street light...." Wait, who was that standing alone? Why were they standing alone?

Heather walked up and held out her hand to the dude ('cause he was definitely a dude, right?). "Come and dance with me." Because that's what you were suppose to do here. Unless you were eating.

James smirked at the girl whole he poured himself some punch. Seeing her turn red he grinned. He had embarrassed her, that's cute. "I was looking in your direction. You look beautiful in that dress by the way. Very...blue. I like blue." He smiled and sipped at the punch his eyes going back over to the other girl. She had been rude no way was that his girl. Hmmm.

He looked at blue dress girl and ran his thumb over the ring on his hand which had now become a habit of his. "You come with anyone? " he hadn't seen anyone but that didn't mean anything.

Finger wagging now? Sweet Circe.

Maddox did very little to contain his laugh, more amused by the situation than it warranted. Was this what he did to the students? "No wonder they think you're a fruit cake. Man up about it, I've ruined your suit without remorse." HAHAHA. What would he do, wag his finger til the man grew dizzy and begged for mercy?--

Ow ow ow ow! Yelling! Ouch. Oi vey. Merlin Airey.

The man winced at his Colleague's outburst, feeling the pain somewhere near the back of his head. "Not so loud, mat--Professor. Tryn'a drive me deaf?"

And a detention to boot?

"If you insist." Another flick of his wand saw the spot growing in size, creeping all along the suit, stretching toward the neck region, out toward the arms and down to the waist. "See? Now it's not a stain, it's the whole colour." GRIN.

Fancy parties kinda sucked, and they especially sucked when one didn't know anybody. WHERE were his friends?! Hhhhhmmm? So far he wasn't able to recognise anyone. Not from their hair, eyes or their style of dress... nothing. HE WAS ALONE!

Food was definitely to be had now, no more standing and staring. just as he turned, his body came into contact with another. One that yelled MEATBALLS. There were meatballs? He had to have one.

Zeke was hardly rattled from the experience, but the girl seemed shaken by it. His arms had shot out to catch her, but once he was steadied, and figuring she was too, his arms dropped back to his sides.

"Uhhh... depends who's asking," he replied, still thoroughly confused at not recognising the person. How many students did Hogwarts have? How could there still be people he'd never SEEN before.
