Thornton had looked up quickly as he finished his ramble to try to gauge Eden's reaction and seeing her make a face, he bit his lip. Why was this such a difficult question?

As Eden spoke, Thornton was mentally comparing her answer to what Paris had said, seeing some overlap, but also some new things. Flippy dippy? Technical term, that. Though maybe that was a way to describe the way he couldn't help but smile when they just ran into each other. Or maybe that queasy feeling when he knew she was sad and just wanted to make her feel better. He'd kinda been hoping that all that just meant they were really good friends. But he was starting to think maybe not.

"Yeah.. yeah maybe," he replied to Eden, frowning a little. He sighed a little. If he did like her, he thought it might actually be a problem. But... maybe he didn't really, at least, that's what he was hoping for. Two opinions was hardly conclusive, even if there was overlap.

Kid looked......well, not happy. Hmm. Eden thought for a minute.."You know. Having a crush...isn't a bad thing, Thorton. It's letting it...overwhelm you that is the stinky part." She crinkled her nose. "Sometimes crushes can lead to good things." She was trying to be positive and not think about Kyroh's crush and how that had CERTAINLY gone terribly awry for the poor thing. Eden still felt VERY guilty.

"Do you think you like someone, Thorn?" she came out and asked as she looked away, towards her schoolbag so she could shove her books into it. Gave him a little time to blush and stuff, if he felt embarrassed. "How old are you? Aren't you thirteen?" she asked softly. That was such a.....well. That was the age that STARTED EVERYTHING. Sigh. It was terrible, really.

After wrestling her books into her bag, she looked back up at him and smiled. "Hey--" she reached out to touch his hand. "You can come to me to talk about anything. That's what I'm here for. You don't have to....feel bad or embarrassed. Okay?" she didn't want him to feel like his feelings were weird or anything. In fact, they were probably normal. But Eden also didn't want to....make him feel like his case didn't matter!

Thornton looked up at her insistence that a crush wasn't a bad thing but the letting it overwhelm you. Good things? He made a face, not entirely convinced that good things were possible in this particular situation. Thankfully, Thornton was completely unaware of the whole Kyroh and Eden situation, because that would have just made this extra awkward.

His cheeks flushed a little at her question and he was grateful that she had looked away. But it also meant that he had to verbally respond and couldn't just nod. "I.. I think so. Maybe," he whispered. "And, yes. Thirteen." Thornton tapped the toes of his shoes against the floor and nodded, once again avoiding eye contact, when Eden touched his hand and said he could come talk to her. He sighed before deciding to tell her what was really bothering him, his voice a barely audible whisper. "It's.. it's just that she's my friend and I don't want to mess that up."

That was sad, he felt all children should have a puppy. They were so loyal and good animals to help bring up children with responsibilities. In his mind better than the other animals. "Well I'm sorry to hear that. Puppies and dogs are great friends." Patting his own once more. "If you talk to the potions master I bet he can help you with a potion for her." Look at the Gifford was full of advice today. It was so nice to be awake and feeling talkative again.

So she was leaning towards animal healer, interesting, very interesting. "I think you could do great things for the creatures. It would be a very rewarding profession." Who knew she could end up healing dragons one day. Nodding at her thoughts about shadowing the school healer, "If you ask nicely I would hope she would. Especially if you are an aspiring healer yourself." The girl was already reading the books, so she had an interest that needed to blossom.

With her book long forgotten now in her lap she sat herself up straighter as she listened to Gifford. He certainly was helpful! "That's alright, I have a cat, owl and a snake so maybe a puppy isn't exactly needed." Maybe. Yeah she had said maybe cause really most kids want a dog! "That could be a really good idea Gifford thank you. And maybe if I bring it home to her at the end of term she will just take it." If she already had the potion made it couldn't hurt to offer it to her mom. Good idea. Really good idea.

Hady grinned brightly at his words. It was really nice hearing from someone else that wasn't family, friend or a profession say that they thought you could do something like that. It really fueled her energy in wanting to do this. "I think I will ask her. I really couldn't hurt and the experience would certainly be a good thing. If I can't handle shadowing her then I know I wouldn't be able to handle doing it myself." It made sense to her. For one to know if they could do something for sure was to do it. Everything took practice and the sooner the better.

Eden just nodded and sighed. The kid was making classic(and good) points, he was. The whole...not wanting to mess up a friendship thing. Sigh.

SIGH.

"Well..." she sighed(again) and stood up, yanking a notebook out of her backpack as she went around to sit next to Thornton. "Okay. So. How GOOD of friends are you with her?" she asked. "You don't have to tell me who it is--it's all right--" she didn't want to pressure him or anything. She had opened to an empty page and was drawing a T-chart. She labeled one side "Pros" and one side "Cons."

Meeting his gaze again, she ripped the paper out of her notebook and..yeah. They could throw this away after. Maybe to be dramatic, she could set fire to it. "Pros and cons of telling her about the crush. All the potentials involved."

What was she.. she was getting up.. why was she.. noooo. Thornton sighed as the notebook came out. His mother had done this with him once, when he'd had some trouble deciding between piano and cello and while it had been useful in that instance, it seemed like pure horror in this case. Mostly because there was one giant con he would not entertain. At all.

"Eden..." he hesitated. "I'm.. I'm not even sure if it really is a crush, so I think the list is maybe premature." He was lying. Thornton Baines was lying and actually pretty convincingly. Well, maybe lying to himself a little bit, too. It was a crush. He knew it.

He was just going to pretend that it wasn't. Ha.

Slipping out of his chair, the second year shrugged apologetically. "Thanks, uh, for answering my question, though." He looked over his shoulder toward the door... yeah. Time to go.

"I'll... see you in the common room, I guess." And with that, he made his way from the library, before she could try to keep him.

Oh sweet.

He was here. In the LIBRARY, of all places. Ugh! Grayson made a face as he looked around at the general area in front of him. Jeez, he was actually gonna do this, wasn't he? He was gonna have to sit here and study PROPERLY instead of finding something else to occupy his mind on. He'd done it before for his OWLs, and that had been torture enough, but suuuuuuurely he could do it again?

Merlin help him.

Heading further into the library, the sixth year readjusted his grip on his bag as he took a fleeting glance around. Jeez, everything looked so dead. And everything was so QUIET. How did people even concentrate in this level of quiet? Wasn't it just freaking weird? People were freaking weird. That was definitely something Whitty had grown to learn over the many years he'd spent at this--

SWEET! Free sofa!

The seventeen year old took a run up before jumping and collapsing onto the squishy piece of furniture. He wriggled around until he was in the PERFECT laying down position. There. His. He was staying here.

James walked into the library hoping to start his last round of studying for a very VERY long time. He was so over it. Not very Ravenclaw of him but he was seriously tired of it.

He glanced around hoping to see Vinnie but knew better he was pretty sure she was still with Amelia. Longest they'd been without seeing each other since...Christmas basically. Siiiiiiigh.

He spotted someone laying down on a sofa next to one of the only free chairs and shrugged. Hopefully he wouldn't mind company. He sat down in the chair and dropped the stack of books he was carrying on the table. "Mind if I join you?" he asked as he pulled out a comic book because he was totally not wanting to study.

Kace decided it was time to take a trip to the library. He really never been here lately and he missed it. He missed the warm comfy chairs and the way you sink into them reading a good book. He was trying to read in the common room but he couldn't get anything done. He decided to bring his textbooks and such here. Once he got here, he found a nice place where it wasn't taken and he plopped down onto a bean bag.

He sunk RIGHT in. He smiled and then got his book and began to read. He wondered if he would meet anyone here. He had a feeling he might but until then it was time to dig in to a good read.

You know what? He could actually fall asleep here. The only thing stopping him was the fact that some idiot was probably gonna draw whiskers on him or a moustache or whatever. Something to make him look plain--

Oh? He was getting company? Well, this was new.

Grayson peeked open his eyes to look at the newcomer. Heh. Dude looked familiar but the Slytherin wasn't sure if he knew him well enough to know whether he was gonna be good company or not. Didn't wanna be hanging around with some lunatic who'd be boring and make him study.

Speaking of studying......... "Don't mind as long as you don't make me study. I'm not down for that nonsense." Nope. Not in a million years. "What're you reading, by the way?" Please make it be something interesting.

James looked over as another guy joined them but went to studying. Shrugging he eyed his books and then looked at the dude laying down. "Wasn't planning on it," he said with a chuckle. What was he reading? "Well...I need to be reading up for the last few NEWTs I have. Instead...I'll probably read this."

He grabbed a Batman comic from the stack and tossed it toward the guy. "My favorite hero. Vinnie always gets me random Batman merchandise." Like his slippers. Which he TOTALLY should have worn down here. Oh well. He put his feet up on the table and sunk into the chair a little. "You like comic books?"
