Coral was feeling oddly.... relieved to be back at Hogwarts.
It meant no more big lonely house practically to herself. Cristo and the pets didn't really count in her mind. She had always needed to have her own time, her own space, and had begged for it on a few occasions but an entire summer alone hadn't really been what she had in mind... what she wanted. But now she had Soph back... and the new girl, Evie... to keep her company in the dorms. And it was nice; seeing people around every corner; new faces and old ones.
But that didn't mean that everything still felt funny to her...
The feeling of being desperate for closeness, desperate for physical contact with other human beings was not a nice feeling to have.
She could really use a hug right about now.

"And this is the ground floor. It's made out of stone. Just like the first floor. And the second floor and the other floors. But you probably won't see this one too much cause it's sorta far away from the seventh one, y'know?" Kyroh peered down to the little tortoise that he held very carefully in his hand. He had to make sure that tortoise Vesper knew all around the castle just incase she wanted to run free or something. He was sure that tortoises were allowed to do that right? As long as they came back home for food. It was like that muggle story tortoise an the hare, but only if they raced in a castle and not outside. "You gotta be careful with stone cause it gets cold and you're not suppose to be too cold. At least I don't think." She was either not suppose to be too cold...or not suppose to be too hot.
He had to do more research.
The tortoise made the smallest of noises and the third year blinked. "Huh? Are you talking about those? Those are for the house points and-" Kyroh paused as he noticed a familiar figure by the hourglasses.
"BAY!" Turning Kyroh ran up to his NEW PREFECT, with tortoise!Vesper still in hand.

Smile spreading from ear to ear, she opened her arms for the boy, expecting that he wouldn't let her down in the hug department. Yes. A famous Kyroh hug. That would settle all of the feelings and she wouldn't have to worry about over hugging Soph around Evie or being too affectionate in public with Gabe. This was perfect.
But... hold the horses. "What have you got there?"
Squint squint.

Well, not really. Nigel had been his first buddy but CB was still considered one in his eyes. Coming to a halt Kyroh blinked a few times before grinning. It was strange seeing Bay well...shorter than him? Not shorter by much but, last year she hadn't been. Last year she was taller and this year she wasn't and it was weird.
He would have HUGGED her too but-"Tortoise." More beaming holding the tortoise up he stuck it in her face. "She's m'pet. Vesper the Tortoise." He looked around hesitantly. " But please please please please don't tell my mum I have her."

He was taller than her now. That wasn't fair. "If you keep growing like this, i'm going to have to get platforms and charm them so i don't fall and break my neck." She didn't like this. He wasn't allowed to be taller than her. If all of her favorite younger students grew to be taller than her, would she be considered the smaller student? This wasn't appealing.
As the tortoise nearly made contact with her face, or so she thought, Coral-flinched, and stumbled backwards a little, barely gaining her footing again.
But as she did, her eyes narrowed just the tiniest bit. "Why can't I tell your mum?" Cue the mama bear tone. Not that Coral had plans to owl his mother about all of his doings. Or any of them for that matter.

Why-oh. "'Cause her and my dad got upset that I didn't ask her to have a pet and so she returned Vesper but...the day before the train I snuck back and got her again?" So yeah. That's why.

Studying by the hourglasses was oddly motivating. See the green emeralds at their low level - THIRD place, such a disaster, but admittedly much better than where they'd started - motivated him to get his homework DONE. Finished. Boom. Points. Woot!
So Caleb had taken to doing his reading by the wall, watching the people go by as he worked. It was fun to people watch too...because let's be real, the emeralds weren't going to move THAT fast no matter how much he studied...

The idea was tempting, actually.

Well, that was true... Evie just shrugged and went 'pfffffft.' "You wouldn't get me in trouble." She even gave him the nicest, prettiest smile and a couple bats of her eyelashes. She was too cute to get in trouble. And they were friends now and friends didn't tattle on friends.
Evie grinned a little. She was an expert at BEING a human parcel. She really didn't have to do anything. Anyway... Evie peered over his shoulder to see what he was reading. Old stuff, apparently. Was there something about pizza in there?
"Oooh, I love Creatures, too." Evie grinned. "I also like charms. I'm pretty good at that." She liked to charm things for fun. Like little paper animals and simple things. | |
