While the Lions' Den may be the focal point of the Gryffindor common room, all the real action happens over here in the game lounge. Sofas and bean bag chairs are strung about the room in a haphazard, but comfortable, manner and off to the left is a large table with enough chairs for eight people to sit. A shelf on the wall above the table is stocked with all sorts of games and activities for curious Gryffindors to utilize. To help the lions take home the Gobstones Cup, there is a Gobstones set to practice with. Just be sure to clean up any of the smelly goo that comes spurting out from the gobs. You can also find a wizards' chess set and Snitch Snatchers on the shelf. If games are not your style, on the opposite side of the room is a grand piano waiting and ready to have its ivories tickled for a sing-along.

While Snitch Snatchers is one way to get your quidditch fix, the real quidditch treat can be found in the middle of the room in the form of a modified muggle foosball table that has been made to look like a quidditch pitch. There are no knobs to move the players around, instead all you need is your wand and to tap one of the figures on the team you wish to control while saying 'GRYFFINROAR' and away you go! As long as you are holding your wand, all you need to do is order the little figures around. Be wary of the tiny golden snitch that will start zooming around on its own accord. The figures will not return to being inanimate until it is caught!

In the back of the lounge you will find a medium sized tray topped with soil, and spray bottles containing brown liquid beside it. It may seem strange, but this is the resting place of the Gryffindor Tower Lion topiary. The Topiary Lion moves around on his own accord, and is responsive to a pat or two. Just remember to spray his roots with fertilizer and water them occasionally when he's on his pan... or else he might wither and die. On the wall behind the topiary is a display case holding dozens of Dandy Lion flowers that will purr, roar softly, and paw at the air with their leaves when you get close.

Having misplaced his own deck, Airey had strolled into the Gryffindor common room under the guise of it being part of his rounds...when the truth of the matter was that he was on the hunt for an Exploding Snap deck.

"Hmmm...." he said, tapping his lower lip with his index finger. "I DID put a deck of those in here...didn't I?"

Angel walked out of the girls dorm, she was totally worried about something but it wasn't her place to say anything. She was that occupied with her thought she accidently walked into someone.

"So....."

Angel looked up and then she did a double take before looking again, nope he was still there, she decided to close her eyes and see if that would make this image disappear but nope when she opened her eyes, he was still there so this was her Head of House then.

"I'm sorry sir." Angel looked down at her feet, too ashamed to say anything and the worry on her face was still there. "I was thinking about something." Angel said truthfully.

Sorting through gobstone sets and wizards' chess pieces that were not properly put back, the astronomer was growing mildly frustrated with the fact that it seemed like the deck - or was it decks? - of Exploding Snap he thought he had put in the game lounge were no where to be found.

Were they in the boys' dormitories? Certainly he could make the excuse that he was making his rounds and go 'inspect' those. If they were in the girls' dormitories...well...maybe he would go find Meriberry and make her go look for him...

"Woooooah there!" he exclaimed, jumping slightly when he felt a force bump into him from behind. Pivoting, Lumos went off in his head when he saw Miss Valentine. No need to go find Meriberry now!

"No need to apologize, Miss Valentine," he dismissed with a crooked smile. "I have a very firm....er..." Nevermind, Flamsteed. Don't finish that thought. "Hope whatever it is isn't too terribly serious..."

Nice save.

Angel was just staring at the Professor it looked like he was actually looking for something and it would be great to help him out whilst she tried to talk to him without giving any names away. "Need a hand Professor?" Angel smiled as she watched what he was doing.

"You have a very firm what?" Angel was confused now, seriously why did he start a sentence when he wasn't going to finish it, that was just so confusing. She also smiled when he said there was no need to apologise.

Angel sighed as she shifted her weight from foot to foot, she wanted help and advice about the situation. "Professor, I told a friend I would listen to her and help if I could, but this friend is older than me and her problems well, she ended up crying on my shoulder and it was awkward since I had no idea what to say or do." Angel really had been lost about what to do then.

The astronomer gave the game lounge a slightly dismissive glance over before returning his attention to Miss Valentine. "You haven't seen any Exploding Snap decks lying around here, have you?" he asked point blank. No sense in beating around the bush now. Maddox would just be grumbly and annoyed if the Astronomy professor showed up at game night with standard muggle cards. Which would, of course, mean that Airey would have no choice but to show the Charms professor a few tricks of the trade. Perhaps some repeats of his favorites.

"I see," he said as he flopped himself down into a bean bag chair...and nearly got lost in it. Legs flailing about a bit as he finally situated himself, he patted the bean bag chair next to him. Despite having worked at Hogwarts for some time now, THESE sorts of conversations continued to be extremely difficult for him to handle. "Perhaps, all that your friend needed was that shoulder you offered..."

Angel then listened to him. "Well I'm glad that you do." Angel hoped that he had but she had a feeling that wasn't what he was going to say but she wasn't going to press him because otherwise the Professor might get annoyed.

Angel watched as the Professor sat down and she sat in the bean bag next to him. "I hope so Professor." Angel didn't know what else she could do to help her friend because she wasn't that experienced in matters like this. "We'll just have to wait and see." Angel would just have to keep an eye on things and hope for the best.

May have placed them somewhere out of the ordinary and thus had not found them during his initial scan. Why was it that the thing that you were looking for was always in the last place you look?

Actually, he hated that expression. It was obvious why. You stopped looking once you found the object. Obviously.

Wiggling a bit more into his bean bag and folding his hands timidly on his chest, he turned his head to the side to look at the Gryffindor. Was...that it then? Just needed to get that off her mind? Was there more? Why were teenagers so hard to understand?!

"I don't really play them unless I get really bored, I actually have no idea why I got a pack, maybe because it's something easy I can play with my sisters when we are on the train ride home."

Angel looked at the Professor and smiled, she had something else she wanted to ask him and this wasn't as deep as the other thing. "Professor, you'll know... I want to work with plants when I'm older, go exploring and things like that, do you think there will be any plants in space like on another planet or something?" Angel had always wondered that, but until someone explored it she doubted they would ever know.

Swallowing hard again, he rubbed his palms against his trousers in anticipation for some sort of follow up with the whole...dormmate situation...so he was pleasantly surprised when the Gryffindor changed the subject.

Giving Miss Valentine an appreciative nod, he relaxed a bit more into his bean bag chair. He hadn't realized just how comfortable these things could be! He could probably fall asleep right here, actually.

Rubbing his eyes with his fists as he listened to the Gryffindor speak about her interests, the wheels in his head began turning as to how best to respond to this inquiry. "It is not impossible, but NASA doesn't just send up herbologists and farmers without them also having the proper credentials," he explained gently. Not that he could really think of anyone that had been sent up in to space with such credentials, but there could always be a first he supposed. "But I believe you are mistaken, Miss Valentine. It is theorized that there are 298,000 species of plants on earth, and of those only 215,644 have been described and cataloged. There is still much to be discovered and studied."
