As the mama unicorn had taken off after the other unicorns, Brooklyn had stayed leaning forward over her neck, almost as if she was on a real racehorse. She’d turned her head to look back to make sure the foal was following, but had looked forward again once she’d made sure the golden foal was there. She wasn’t about to risk getting hit in the face by any of the branches of trees they ran past or anything. Hiding her face partially in the flying mane of her mount helped too. She couldn’t see very well, but she was trusting the unicorn to know where she was headed. That was hard for her, too. She rarely trusted anyone, but she’d earned the trust of the unicorns so she’d trust her back. And the baby who was still following, although at a slower pace.

Having her face practically pressed against the unicorn’s neck proved useful as she felt a low-hanging branch brush past the back of her head. She probably would have fallen off if she hadn’t had her head down, and it only made her keep her face pressed in the mane, the silvery-white unicorn hair blending with her own ginger locks. This wasn’t like riding Balerion, or the hippogriff last term. This was more breakneck speeds and expertly weaving through the hedges and trees, and that was scary.

Hady was forced to lean to the side a little bit as the unicorn zipped around several trees. As they neared closer to the barn she grinned rubbing his neck gently.

"That's it boy we're almost there. We need to go around that hedge up ahead I don't think trying to leap over it with me on your back will be good...so around it please..." She whispered gesturing to the hedge before them coming up fast. Just as she thought the unicorn was going to ignore her and jump he changed course racing to the left.

Coming around the hedge she spotted a medium boulder looking rock and frowned. Really now? Without instruction her unicorn leaped over it easily continuing to the barn. Once there he lowered himself down for Hady to slip off his back. Smiling she looped her arms around his neck hugging him gently. "Thanks boy that was awesome! Wait here with me and I'll get you your treat as promised once my Professor arrives." She whispered leaning her head against his neck.

Benny was pretty sure he wasn't going to be winning any races. The likes of Adi and Zeke and a bunch of other students were already way ahead of him on their mutual return to their classroom. Not that he was minding it, he was just going with the flow leaving his unicorn in charge of how fast and where they were going. At least for the most part. The Gryffindor was trying to give some guiddance as they made their way out of the hedges and out of the forest but he was only able to do so much.

"Easy there..." he said whenever they got too fast and dangerous. "Woah..." he let out as he had to duck to avoid passing branches. But there were stretches of clear riding in between and Benny did manage to hang on and almost catch up with some of the rest. Eventually the sight of the barn was possible and the Gryffindor and unicorn simply trotted towards it to end the so-called race they had been in.

"Here we are..." Benny said easing his ride so they came to a gradual halt and he could manage to jump down. "Thank you," he added, giving the creature a rub.

"Whoooa, easy there," Lux said as they jumped a hedge a little too quickly. It was important to make it back to the barnyard not injuring themselves in the process.

Steadying herself, she saw that they were getting close to their destination. There were quite a few people ahead of them, already finished but she did not care. Riding a Unicorn was something to enjoy as long as possible, not rush through to get to a finish line. If this had been most other creatures, Lux would have been a lot more competitive.

Continuing to dodge trees and branches as well as jump over hedges, she soon made her way to the finish line. "We did it! Thank you! Now you can have your treat." Beaming, she hugged her Unicorn around the neck gently.

It wasn't everyday one could see students riding on Unicorns, let alone lead by their own Professor Thompson. Javier managed to avoid a good number of low tree branches and hedges, coming out nearly as clean as he did entering in. "Thank you again," After swinging his legs off the Unicorn he took out his wand, but didn't do anything just yet as he first gave it some gentle pats in case it had any hesitation.

"Don't worry, I'm just summoning your food." With the flick of his wand towards the open barnyard doors. A bag of special Unicorn food pellets floated on over. "There you are, nice and fresh." Collecting some in his hand he held the palm out under its mouth so it could eat the food. The students were probably going to want to feed theirs too before leaving, yes?

Professor Thompson didn't have to wait long before the students arrived. One by one. He smiled at them before announcing, "Congratulations Mr. Rogers, Mr. Fuller-Thompson and Mr. Rehman. You'll have their points added to the tally shortly," Now then, "Class is dismissed now. You're welcome to try to feed your new Unicorn friend before departing."

Angel was riding back to the castle after finally being allowed on the unicorn, it had taken her a while but she had managed to get on it and she was totally happy about that, she got back just in time to here the Professor, was she late? or was the professor early ending the lesson? She wasn't sure all she knew was it was time to go.

Angel got off the unicorn and smiled at it. "Thanks for an amazing lesson Professor." Angel beamed as she looked over at him before deciding to wait for Benny to get off his unicorn.

After he was still waiting for his unicorn to answer because he didn't want to ride without permission. There could be deadly consequences. He saw his unicorn still nibbling on his fingers and the treats he had in his hand. He grinned and thought it was cute. It was tickling his hand and he loved the feeling. He saw Norah racing with her unicorn and he saw Lux as well. Too bad he couldn't race but I don't think his unicorn would have been up to it. It still seemed so small and fragile.

Now he heard that there were winners and he nodded in approval that his fellow hufflepuff prefect won. They would be extra points. Sweetttt. Now onto saying goodbye to this little fella.

Adi was still patting and having a one sided conversation with his unicorn when Professor Thompson announced the winners. "Thanks, Professor!'' He flashed grins to Zeke and Tobias. Great job as well, guys!

Back to the unicorn. "I'll give you those treats now. You deserve them.'' He scooped a handful of the food Thompson had summoned then held it under the unicorn's mouth. It immediately began gobbling up the food.

"I guess you enjoyed that, huh? I wonder if I should just leave you here or if there's some place in particular in the Barnyard the Professor wants you guys.'' Adi decided he would hang around for a while longer in case Thompson decided to give them any last minute instructions.

Besides... he was waiting on Benny and AJ. Were they back yet?

Time to say goodbye to his little unicorn. He grinned and pet her and realized she was done with the treats for a while now it just loved licking his hand. He smiled and nodded. "Well I gotta go the Professor said so." he slowly got retracted his hand and it seemed almost sad he was leaving. "I promise to come visit okay?" he promised. The unicorn heard him and wagged its tail. It went back to the others still keeping its eye on Kace. He didn't get to ride his unicorn but he managed to pet one, it was worth it for this lesson.

He walked back up to where his backpack was and collected his backpack and supplies. He waved to the Professor and said, "Awesome lesson Professor!" and left to go back to the castle.

Toby smiled at Professor Thompson as he announced the winners, but his eyes were quickly drawn to the treats for the unicorns. Yes. He absolutely wanted to try feeding his unicorn.

He glanced at his unicorn briefly, wondering if it would still be alright with him if he left for a few moments to get the treats and came back, or if he'd need to do the whole lotion process again. Thompson hadn't mentioned anything about that, so he supposed it was okay. Toby pet the unicorn's neck a couple times, told it to "Hold on a sec," then wandered across to get a handful of treats.

Fortunately, when Toby returned, his unicorn was still very much accepting of him, and ate the treats right out of his hand. Toby just watched, still pretty much in awe of the majestic creature. When it was done, he pet it some more, running his fingers over the smooth hair on its neck.

"I have to go now," he said in a low, soft voice. "But it was so brilliant meeting you. You're really amazing."

Toby allowed himself a few more moments with the unicorn, but then finally stepped away. "Bye."

Sigh. Okay. Yeah. Sad again. So long, beautiful unicorn.

Weeheeeheee! Zeke beamed as Professor Thompson announced his victory - and that of the runners up. Racing was brilliant fun, and he had certainly developed a need for speed over the years.

Dismounting, he turned to his fellow winners and gave them a smile, "Congrats guys, it was a good race." Yep. Here he was, sportsmanly Lion.

BUT! FOOOOD! UNICORN FOOD!!!!!

"Wait here, I'll get you some," he assured his white steed before moving off to get a handful of pellets. It didn't take long, and as soon as he retuned he approached his unicorn cautiously so as not to spook it. Hand outstretched, he offered it the pellets he'd collected, and gently it started eating out of its palm.

And OUCH!.. more biting.

Zeke pulled a face, but didn't make a sound, fortunately for him his unicorn seemed too preoccupied with the food to notice.

Once the feeding was done, Zeke said goodbye to his unicorn, and then to the Professor. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor Thompson," he beamed as left to head back to the castle.

Oh there was Professor Thompson now. Perfect cause her little unicorn friend was ready for that treat she had promised him.

"Wait right here for just a moment, okay?" She whispered rubbing his neck gently. "I'll get you that treat now." Stepping away and walking to where the Professor was with the unicorn food. Scooping some of the food into her hands she turned and headed back to her friend.

"Here you go, just as promised." Hady offered holding her hands out palm up for the unicorn. He took a few steps closer, sniffed the pellets and began nibbling at them until it was all gone. Giggling softly she looped her arms around the unicorns neck hugging him lightly. "Thanks buddy it was really fun, go on back to your mom now."

As if the unicorn knew what she said he promptly turned and took off back to where he'd come from. With that Hady waved to Professor Thompson. "Thanks Professor, this was really cool." She smiled making her way back to the castle.
