You arrive back at the barnyard for a lesson with Creatures. Expecting signs instead you are greeted with Professor Thompson's presence. He just so happens to be right by the open doors leaning against the wall with his arms folded as he waited, occasionally chewing on the tomato in his hand. Despite the chilly conditions it was looking quite nice out today as you wait on the lesson to begin.

After going back to her seat with the tomato and still repeating the incantation over and over in her head, Agatha held the fruit in her right hand and pulled out her wand.
The wand movement was a simple... circle around the fruit. A circle. Not difficult at all. The fifth year did a circular motion with her wand around the fruit but said nothing. She looked around to compare what she had done to what the others were doing and it looked right, so she was a bit more confident now to try the spell.
"Magimus." She said out loud again, without the wand movement yet; just making sure she still remembered the incantation.

Now was the time to see if she had skills or not. As much as she wanted to have faith, she knew her luck, and she remembered all of her normal failed attempts. This time was going to be different though. She was going to bite into the lemon, and it was going to be the sweetest lemon you could ever imagine. Adi talking to her distracted her for a moment. "I seem to remember that I chose the lemon first." She smiled at him. "So, who is copying who?" Hmm?
AJ stared at the peelings. Did she really want to bite into it like it was an apple? On second thought maybe she should have went with that fruit. That would have been okay taste wise if things didn't work out so well with her spell casting.
Here goes nothing, she thought to herself. AJ took a chunk out of the lemon, and it was disgusting. She hurriedly spit all of the pieces out of her mouth and on to the floor. Gag. It was even worse considering she was expecting a totally different flavor. That kind of thing could really throw you off guard.
Agatha finally did the wand motion around the fruit she was holding. "Magimus." She blinked at the tomato and couldn't help but stare at it as sparks formed where her wand drew the circle.
The Slytherin would've wideened her eyes in surprise, but she was obviously not going to let her classmats and professor know she wasn't expecting to get it right straight away. Her expression was neutral, except for the fact she kept staring at the tomato in her right hand.
Time to taste it then. Confidently, the fifth year took a lady-like bite of the fruit and chewed politely, nodding her head in approval. The neutrality of her face changed into a proud look and she did a quick hair flip.
Smug Agatha was smug.

Cutty was looking at Dot.
He was.
He was LOOKING at her.
Kyroh squinted his eyes locking into the Slytherin. It was bad enough that Cutty the Count of Evil shared the same common room with one of his best friends, but he didn't need to talk to her or even LOOK at her outside of class. His evil might seep into her or something! No sooner than the glaring started however, the older boy turned away from his friend and started talk to Eden.
Which was even worse.
Stomach dropping, the third year averting his eyes. His brown orbs remained on the grass in front of him until his wand was drawn. The carefree happy go-lucky expression was no longer there.
Expression free from his face, Kyroh drew his wand and began practicing the spell. "Magimus." Circle. "Magimus." Circle. "Maa-Gee-Mus."

Margo was really having the time of her life. This class was a joy compared to her disaster in potions, she hoped for everyone else sake they were having fun as well. Finishing drawing her wand all the way around her tomato Margo smiled as she watched the fruit sparkle. She had to have done it right...right?
She was so excited that Margo didn't really want to try her fruit. She didn't want to ruin this perfect beauty, but she did need to know if she had one it right. So Taking just the smallest of bites Margo cheeks pulled together. Ooooooo.......too tooo sweet!! Margo didn't want to take another bite it was over sweet, but that meant that she had done her spell right!! On the first try, miracle did really happen!!
Cutty eyed the surface of Eden's apple, which indeed did seem shinier by comparison and when she took a bite out of it the smell was strong enough to confirm to him that she seemed to have been successful in her quest to alter it's sweetness, despite her initial troubles with the incantation.
Then she was scribbling down a note, which she passed to him. He didn't feel like he needed her classnotes, but whatever. Let the lady feel helpful. "I'm sure you have and will." He said pocketing the note and going back to his lemon. "Booht, just fer fun. Let's see yer do it one more time?"
It smelled the way most lemonades tend to smell.
If Eden McGee gave you a note, you best well read it. It probably contained VERY vital information, okay? And when he pushed it into his pocket, she wiggled her eyebrows at him. "Read. It." She said, giving him a VERY pointed look.
CUTTY MORDAUNT!
He wanted her to do it AGAIN? Well fine. She would. And she would stick her tongue at him afterwards. Because that would totally SHOW HIM. Eden took the lemon, and for good measure a sniff of it, and closed her eyes. She really liked the smell of lemon. Like..real, genuINE lemon. Ahhh. It smelled so fresh to her.
"Ahem." She held her wand properly and swirled it around the lemon..."Magimus-" she said, forcefully, and bam. It was shiny. Glittery and pretty and......no longer smelled like a lemon. How sad. Eden bit into it, the juices from the fruit kind of.....squirting out, and she wiped her mouth on her sleeve. "It's like eating straight sugar--" she said, making a...disgusted face. But hey..she got she spell down? Thanks to Mr. Mordaunt.
SIGH. Why was he amazing?

Using food to lure the porlocks? Okay then.
The Gryffindor stood up without even bothering to take notes and walked over to the large basket that appeared by the Professor’s side. He raised an eyebrow at the sparkle and shiny comment but it did make sense.
Grabbing an lemon from the basket, Kevin walked back to his place and sat back down.

So her idea had merit but luring with food was necessary to start with. Interesting. Lux made a note of that just in case Porlocks were a part of the Care of Magical Creatures exam.
Curiously, she watched as Professor Thompson went on to explain then demonstrate the spell they would be using on the fruits. Thank goodness no strawberries were there because she hadn't brewed any allergy potion for herself since way back in Third Year. Honestly, she wasn't sure why she hadn't done it other than it kept slipping her mind. But she was careful to avoid them and Bay was too on the most part.
Making her way to the large basket, Lux wasn't sure if she wanted an apple or a lemon. She didn't mind tomatoes, but they weren't her favourite and one tasting like a sugar cube might be a little gross. In the end she settled on a lemon since they were more sour than apples.

The basic points were that they were going to feed the Porlocks fruit that they were magicking to make extra sweet. And shiny. Shiny sweet.
When they were set to work, Toby went ahead and picked up an apple (normal horses liked apples normally, right? seemed like the logical choice even if it wouldn't be as much of a challenge as, say, a lemon) to try casting the spell on, and got his wand out ready. He didn't try it straight away, though, but tilted his head thoughtfully at the apple as he tossed it in the air and caught it a few times. Thinking, thinking.
Eventually, Toby glanced over at Professor Thompson and half-raised his hand to get the man's attention.
"Professor Thompson," he started, now casually twirling his wand between his fingers as he had a tendency to do. "So, these Porlocks, they're distrustful of humans, right? But is it that their level of distrust isn't quite high enough that they'll refuse food offered? Or does their need to protect the Winged Horses from having this sweet stuff sort of overpower that? The need to protect and guard overpowers their own discomfort, like."
Because if it was that, then Toby could definitely relate.
"I only ask 'cause there's creatures like Knarls who are super suspicious, which means they don't trust people, and if you offer them milk or something they freeeeeak out." SORT OF LIKE how Toby might react to being offered ice cream. Sort of. "So I wondered how they're different with this." Since, Y'KNOW, all creatures were diverse and amazing and awesome.
Toby twirled his wand again, and looked back at the apple. So. This spell then. Best get to it.
As Professor Thompson observed the students he eventually got a question. He then listened fully understanding the meaning of this question, as he nodded. "As a guardian, they take their role quite seriously. Despite their lack of trust, Porlocks have no trouble putting aside their own fears for the safety of whom they are protecting. It's around the same level of care that a decent parent would exert for their own child." It was indeed a great question.

Now to try it out.
Incantation and wand movement all together on the apple. It didn't seem a hard thing to do but it could turn out to be deceiving. Taking the apple in his non-wand hand and making it level, Benny slipped his wand out from his pocket and raised it so it's point was close to the fruit but not touching it. One...two...three..."Magimus!" he cast, circling the apple with the tip his wand, making two rounds just to be on the safe side, not catching where he had stopped so he'd be aware of where to end.
The Gryffindor then grasped the fruit and lifted it to his lips, tentatively taking a bite. It tasted almost normal...a little on the sweet side but more normal then changed if the fifth year wasn't mistaken.
Maybe the extra circle had messed it up.
Maybe the focus hadn't been there.
It just wasn't enough...back to the drawing board.

Tossing the lemon in the air then catching it, Lux made her way back to her seat. Time for her to practice the spell before trying it out and seeing if her lemon tasted like a sugar cube. Honestly would that even be a good taste? She liked sugar obviously, but there was such a thing as excess.
Setting the lemon down in her lap, the Fifth Year grabbed her wand so that it was at the ready for when she performed the spell. First things first she needed to get a hang of the incantation. "Maa-Gee-Mus...Maa-Gee-Mus...Maa-Gee-Mus..." Hehe, that was pretty easy. Now to try it all together. "Magimus."
With her wand she made some invisible circles in the air before picking the lemon up off her lap. "Magimus," she said as a circle was drawn around the fruit's circumference.

Alright, now with the fruit picked out Finn just had to practice the wand movement and incantation.
Incantation first, though, because the wand movement seemed simple enough. Getting the incantation right could be a slightly different story. Even if it may not seem difficult. "Magimus." Ok. Now, to the actual practicing. "Maa-Gee-Mus. Maa-Gee-Mus." As of now, that seemed good enough. Nothing hard to accomplish here.
He laid the apple on his palm and drew an invisible circle with his wand, as Professor had done, around the fruit and said, "Magimus." Nothing happened. So, the slytherin attempted the same thing, "Magimus." Nothing. Poke poke poke. C'mon, work with him here. "Magimus!" He said with a little more force, almost giving his apple a harsh whisper. Finn circled his wand around and around over the apple until small sparks started to appear.
How long did they have to do this? .... Oh, there, it looked like the spell was done.
Angel knew it was now time to do the spell and so she knew that she had to concentrate really hard and so she tried to block everything out of her mind, she wanted to do this right the first time because she would be annoyed if she got it wrong.
Angel pointed her wand at the lemon and she smiled as she concentrated really hard on what she wanted to do. "Magimus!" Angel swirled her wand around the lemon and smiled as it sparked just like the Professor had said it would.
Angel looked at the lemon and then took a small bite, yeah everything was perfect and the sourness had gone, she was totally happy about that and now she had to wait and see what was going on next.

Had it worked?
Staring at the lemon in her hand she wasn't sure. It looked just like how it did before. Sigh. Only one way to really find out then. Taking a small taste she made face shaking her head a little.
Sour. That seriously wasn't right.
Again. That's what she had to do. Try again and she would.
With her wand held firmly she spoke the spell. "Magimus", as she gave a circular motion of her wand over the lemon. Another taste. Coughing quietly at the still sour taste Hady focused her full attention on what she had been attempting.
Time to try again. And again. And again.
One more try and she was going to ask for help...something she didn't want to do. Taking a deep breath and holding her wand firmly, all intent fixed on the lemon and spell she tried once more. "Magimus!" Just as she'd spoke the word and completed the wand movement she saw it.
The lemon was different this time. It was shiny? Glittery? The second year wasn't even sure but it was different. Taking yet another small taste she grinned brightly despite the pure sugar that was in her mouth. It was like eating a spoonful of straight up sugar, which she'd done many a times as a small child!
Swallowing the mouthful of sugar and giving herself a tiny sugar rush Hady pocketed her wand and leaned back on her heels for she was still semi sitting/kneeling in the grass a smug smirk on her face.

Look at those sparks!
Smiling to herself, Lux peeled off the skin and took a bite from one of the lemon slices. Wow, that was some concentrated sugar. She made a face and was tempted to spit it out but didn't.
After swallowing the sickly sweet fruit, she waited to see what they would be doing next. Hopefully it would be working directly with the Porlocks. Hopefully they liked really sweet fruit, but then horses enjoyed sugar cubes so why not. At least her first attempt had been a success and it looked like others were faring just as well as she had though some needed more than one attempt.
The big puff was glad he got the the answer right. I mean it was common sense to lure the animal by food. I mean hey Kace would be lured if the person had tasty food. Gotta get into the minds of the animals you know?
Time to get to the activity, now he needed to pick a fruit he was going to use. He decided to pick an apple because I mean apples were tasty and one of his favorite fruits. Once he went to the front of the classroom and looked into the basket and picked a ripe apple, now he needed to practice the spell. He saw they needed to learn Magimus. He copied it down to his notebook and now onto practicing his new spell.
Mr. Unicorn: Kim's daughter: Jenn's sister : MILKSHAKES: Lita Daley: The Sun: Its so Fluffy!
Now... now came the moment of truth. The taste test. Finn hoped that his apple would taste alright, or at least, less sour than it would've been earlier. He was not keen on looking like an idiot who was shouting at an apple to become sweeter if it hadn't worked out the first time.
Apple to mouth Finn took a chunk of it and determined whether it was good to standards or not. Hmmmm. It tasted alright. Was it sweeter, a little more than before, yes, that was true. But, was it sweet enough? That was the question. And the answer was, it still needed some work.
So Finn put the apple nice and steady on his palm again, waved his wand around the edge of it in a circle and said, "Magimus!" Hey, if he had to do this a second time, might as well get it done right the second time and not have to look stupid a third time. Sparks emitted from his wand and he waited a few seconds before taking another bite into his apple.
Hearing Thompson's voice, Toby looked up at him again to give him his full attention. He nodded along throughout the whole answer, internally being like 'aha, yep, totally called that' and feeling a slight tinge of pride that his conclusion was about right. But at the last part, he paused and looked away for a moment, chewing at the inside of his cheek thinking about decent parents and not-decent parents and other such things. And Porlocks.
"Awesome. That makes sense," Toby finally responded, glancing back at Thompson again and giving him a small smile. "Thanks, sir."
So, this apple. Yep. Time to... sweeten the deal? Ha.
"Maa-gee-mus..." Toby muttered the incantation to himself, testing it out in his mouth before going off to cast it or anything. "Magimus... Magimus. Magimus."
Cool. Simple. He could do that. Toby held up his wand and pointed it at the apple he held in hand, and mimicked the wand movement Thompson had shown them earlier, basically drawing a circle around the fruit. Again, easy. Now for the tricky part.
Toby traced the tip of his wand in a circle all the way around the fruit again, and spoke.
"Magimus."
He tried to focus as hard as he could on what he wanted the spell to do, even attempted to imagine tasting the sweetness he was going for. It was difficult, because Toby's mind was other places, but there WERE sparks to be seen, just like in the demonstration. Only one way of checking to see if the spell had worked.

The fifth year Gryffindor looked at the professor as he spoke. That couldn't be that hard, right? It seemed a bit easy. So she had to choose a fruit, practice the spell and then taste the fruit. Well in a different order than that but she knew what she was talking about in her own mind. Emmylou took her wand in her hand and drew a circle. Now that wasn't that hard but saying the spell right could be hard if someone didn't know what they were doing or had never done magic before. "Magimus? Maaag-mus? Magimus? M-aaaaaaag-i-muuuus? Magimus?" Was she saying it that right?
Emmylou shrugged and repeated herself but this time with more confidence. "Magimus. Magimus. Magimus." She didn't feel entirely confident about it that time but she knew that she would feel better saying it once she moved on to the next step.
The fifth year looked around before deciding that she should repeat the word in her head for a little extra practice. 'Magimus. Magimus. Magimus. Magimus. Magimus.' She repeated in her head over and over again.

Time to practice the spell. He got it copied down and then began to do the pronunciation. He said, "Mag-imus....Mag-i-mus....Mag-i-mus...Mag-i-mus..."
Then he said it a few more times. "Mag-imus....Mag-i-mus....Mag-i-mus...Mag-i-mus...Mag-imus....Mag-i-mus....Mag-i-mus...Mag-i-mus..."
Now to put the spell together.
"Magimus...magimus...magimus....magimus..!"
And now onto doing the wand movement since he got the hang of saying the spell. He looked up at the board and noticed he only needed to do a circle. He got his wand out of his robes and began to do a circular motion. He kept doing that a few times and few cracks of his wrist did him well too. Now to put this all together!
By the time the explanation was given and the instructions passed out, Amur was grinning like a wild child. Turning normal food into sweets? Perfect. Having a solid reason for doing so? Even better. Learning a spell that could do so? Absolutely brilliant!!
It was decided officially. Amur liked this Professor. She had learned a great deal from him already. Most specifically along the lines of too many sweets were bad for people or creatures, so it was a kind gesture to offer to eat them all. Heh. Perhaps that was Toddles logic when he insisted on consistently stealing Zander's chocolate frogs.
She'd have to remember that one.
For now, it was picking out food, changing food and testing food. Hopefully, her wand was feeling cooperative thus far. Perhaps if she picked a food she really wasn't fond of, her wand would be interested in helping her to turn it into something good.
Deciding that was the best option, Amur stepped up to the basket and peered in. Apples, tomatoes or lemons. She preferred apples and tomatoes, and would much rather bite into one of them if the spell didn't work, than a lemon. But then, she would definitely know if the spell didn't work on the lemon. She liked apples and tomatoes, so it would be harder to tell.
Letting out a slow breath, Amur picked what looked to be a relatively, healthy lemon and pulled it out. Her wand had better be in a cooperative mood. Getting this wrong would suck.
Slipping between the other students, Amur found a open spot and sat down. After all, all the greats did their best thinking while sitting. She held the lemon in one hand and pulled out her wand with the other. Here. Went. nothing.

Done practicing. Kyroh was over it. Walking over to the basket Kyroh pushed his hand in and withdrew the very first thing he made contact with. Withdrawing he glanced at the large, shiny, tomato in his hand.
Pointing his wand at the tomato the third year did his very best to block out everything around him. Everything and everything. He just wanted to leave this class now okay? Tightly gripping his wand he circled the tomato. "Magimus"
Hesitantly he lowered the wand and without any hesitation took a GIANT bite of the vegetable.
......
....which came spewing out of his mouth only seconds later, because the tomato still tasted like a tomato.
Gross.

Time to see if Kace could do the spell. As he looked around he noticed Emmy joined the lesson. Hmm..he wondered why he didn't see her before! He grinned and went over to his girlfriend. "Heyy Emmy.." he smiled and then realized she was practicing saying the spell and she in deep concentration. He didn't want to break it. He went back to his own spell.
He put the apple in front of him and was ready to do this. He got his wand at the ready and got stared at the apple. The big puff took a deep breath and concentrated and said, "MAGIMUS!" and then he did the circle motion on the fruit and realized nothing happened. He pursed his lips and thought what did he do wrong. He check the board and realized he only did the circle on the fruit and not alone first. Aahhh now that made more sense.
Now to try again.......
He took a deep breath and concentrated on the spell and repeated it in his head. "Magimus...Magimus....Magimus....Magimus..." He did the circle alone and on the fruit. This puff got this! Now to test it. He said the spell, "Magimus!" and then did a circle alone first then on the fruit. He saw sparks like he saw the Professor did. Now to see if he did it right. He was gonna have to taste it.
He picked it up and took a big bite and it didn't taste bad at all. Success.
Emmylou jumped when she heard her name. She looked around for the voice. It was Kace. Phew! "Hey Kace." She said beaming at him. She really needed more practice time because Emmylou always had this bad luck when it came to pronouncing spells and it had to do with her southern accent. She could say something as clear as day and then BAM it comes out to be something that she didn't want to happen. 'Magimus, magimus, magimus, magimus.' She thought very loudly in her brain.
She looked at her notes to see what she had to do next. The hand movement was a circle and the spell to be used was magimus but she already knew that now she just needed a fruit.
Time to choose. Apple? Lemon? Or tomato? Hmmm.
The fifth year didn't know what one she wanted, maybe a lemon? But then she would have to try it and as much as she loved lemons she wasn't sure if she really wanted to taste and good or bad tasting lemon but then again Emmylou didn't want anything to do with the apple or the tomato.
LEMON IT WAS!
The blonde grabbed a lemon and went back to where she was sitting. As held the lemon she blinked at it. Did she want to hold it or did she want to set it down on the table. Setting it down was the best bet. She gently set down the lemon down. She took her wand in her hand and began to draw a circle. "Magimus" she said clearly and calmly.

It was time for taste test again. Slowly raising the apple to her mouth, Janelle kept thinking, "Be sweet, Be sweet". Finally, she took a bite. Holding the fruit in her mouth for a moment, Janelle allowed her taste buds to rate the sweetness level. Yessss. The apple was super sweet. The spell had worked. Were they allowed to eat the whole piece of fruit because it would definitely satisfy Janelle's need for sugar.
Now that she had successfully sweetened her apple, Janelle felt she was almost ready to take on the Porlocks. But first, she wondered if she should practice on another piece of fruit. Looking around, she tried to see if any of her classmates had given the spell another try.
