You arrive back at the barnyard for a lesson with Creatures. Expecting signs instead you are greeted with Professor Thompson's presence. He just so happens to be right by the open doors leaning against the wall with his arms folded as he waited, occasionally chewing on the tomato in his hand. Despite the chilly conditions it was looking quite nice out today as you wait on the lesson to begin.

Right. Now what? The Gryffindor looked around at the others trying to see what else they were supposed to do with the Porlocks before class ended or something... Were they meant to talk to it? Because a couple of people sure were trying and Zander didn't really feel the need to-uh-yeah. Maybe not. Instead, the Gryffindor just bent down enough so that he could pet it.
Yup. Nothing else going on here, just your average Fifth Year petting a Porlock. So what if this thing wasn't as majestic looking as one of the winged horses? It was actually pretty sweet... Though, that may have had something to do with the spell that he casted on it... But he'd just you know... Assume that it had all to do with his great handling or something.
It was kind of cute. Hm. They should've worked with these AGES ago! Zander Adair was taking a liking to them. Funny critters they were. But very nice. And surprisingly pettable? AND OH, he still had an extra fruit from the very beginning! A lemon! The one that he didn't want to try himself... So yeah, he put that on the ground and pushed it over to the Porlock with his left foot. The creature was still working on one of the apples, but you know... In case?

There was much going on between her and her Porlock. Not much besides sitting, eating and watching the others. At least, however, they were comfortable with each other. More and more by the minute, Amur felt like she was properly connecting with the Porlock. Or at least, she felt like she wasn't going to scare it away.
The creature had taken her up on her offer of eating all the food she had created, and was sitting very, very close to her, munching away. That, or it was stuffing the food into its shaggy fur to save for later. It was impossible to tell.
Amur shifted her weight as she savored the last bits of her lemon-sweet, contemplating what sort of conversation one could have with a horse guardian. After all, sitting in silence wasn't going to do much to build up trust.
"I'm Amur Neverwinter by the way." Introductions, she had forgotten about those. She paused, waiting for the Porlock to give some sort of reciprocation. It simply blinked at her, gurgled a bit and grabbed another lemon-sweet. Amur's eyebrow arched. Was that a name? Did Porlocks even have names? They must, given their apparent intelligence.
She nodded to herself, deciding that the noise had been the utterance of its name, in its language. "Pleasure to meet you..." the rest of the sentence consisted of her full-hearted attempts at replicating the sound the Porlock had produced. It sounded like she was choking on something.
Her face reddened as the Porlock looked up at her, blinking. "Sorry. Did I mispronounce that? I've never tried speaking Porlockian before. In fact, your the first Porlock I've ever seen! We have horses back at my grandparents farm, but no Porlocks, at least not that I know of."
It would definitely be a summer project to try and reenact this lesson back home. Who knew? Maybe there would be Porlocks there too. Maybe she could try earning their trust without the spell charm. She liked making new friends, especially creature friends.
The particular one in question was currently staring at her. Unblinking, large, round eyes among a messy shamble of hair. Amur blinked and stared back. And stared, and stared. And the Porlock stared, and stared.
A small smile touched the corners of her lips, and she rested her elbows on her knees and cupped her chin in her hands, still staring. It seemed an unspoken agreement that this was what they would do. Staring contest between Porlock and human child. Score, zero to zero. Winner got more sweet-lemons.

It was that time wasn't it? It was too bad, given how well and connected everyone who had a Porlock by their side were becoming. The others well, the intention was there and it was quite some progress shown. Nevertheless, it was time to end it. He gave his Porlock buddy some more scratches and pets, "Thanks for helping, you can go back to your duties now." Sending him on his way with one last sweet fruit, an apple.
Professor Thompson then addressed the class, "That'll do everyone." Rising up so he had their attention again, "You all did quite excellent. Unfortunately, we are out of time so remember to thank your Porlock friend for their time and say your goodbyes." As for homework, "You will find your homework assignment attached to the notice board shortly. Class dismissed." One more thing, "Oh, and feel free to take a few fruits if you're hungry otherwise you can just leave them here." He'd take care of the cleaning, like always.

Awe...already? She had just gotten this cute, cuddly creature to sit with her. She sighed and rubbed its ears and snuggled it closer. But she knew she had to let it go. "I wish I could play with you longer, but i know you have to get back to your duties." She sighed, rubbing it's ears a minute longer. "I'll try to come visit you soon. Thank you for letting me hold you and feed you. You can go back to your duties now." She let the little Porlock down. She waved at it and it went back to protecting the horses. It looked back at her just as it disappeared into the horses. It was so sweet.
Bleu sighed, and quickly cleaned up her things. She grabbed a couple of un-charmed apples and headed towards the castle. "Thanks for the awesome lesson Professor Thompson!" She called out to him.

Oh, darn. Out of time. Kate hadn't ever managed to attract a Porlock, but being a first year, she was okay with that. You couldn't get them all right all the time. Kate watched the professor interact with a Porlock and was sort of sad that she hadn't gotten to do the same. She'd try not to let that bother her too much, though. She just wouldn't tell her parents, who'd gone to university for this sort of thing, that she hadn't completed her very first Creatures in-class assignment. She'd make up for it with one really awesome homework assignment, though!
"Thanks for a great lesson, Professor," she said. "Do you mind I say a little something to your Porlock? I didn't have as much luck getting one of my own."

Honestly, Zander wasn't that distraught... He was just... Erm... Well, okay he had really taken a liking to this little guy, okay? But alas class was over and he was HUNGRY. Which wasn't a surprise considering the fact that a) he's always hungry and b) they were working with food and watching the Porlock eat made HIM want to eat. Just how these things tended to work. Anyways, he gave his new friend a little pat on the head before he walked back towards the Professor.
"Thank you for the lesson, sir." Merlin, did Thompson know he was kind of intimidating?
Right then, Zander was off to eat 'yo. Also. Creatures class was GREAT.

Not too much because he had gotten used to it being messy. "Well, you're not actually a girl, are you? Not with that tomboy attitude of yours.'' Hehe.
"I'm sure you being sweet has nothing to do with the porlocks. And you went before me so that doesn't count.'' Cue the wink. "I see them.'' Adi wanted to move right over and interact with them but he knew he had something else to so. Soooo, it looked like him and AJ were tied. Cool!
The first porlock had already reached down to collect the tomato but the second one seemed to just be standing there... as if surveying the apple. Perfect! It would give Adi time to cast the spell. He slowly reached for his wand and aimed it for the first porlock. "Animalis Fidelis!'' He flicked the wand before repeating the action on the second porlock.
The second hairy creature took a few steps towards Adi but he didn't mind. He would make up the rest of the distance. So he proceeded towards it. The first porlock, seeing these actions, came over to the Hufflepuff and its fellow porlock. Both were slightly bigger than the one Thomson had demonstrated on and were clutching their respective fruits.
"Hey, guys!'' Um, should he name them? Heh. Maybe later. Adi plopped right down before the porlocks as though they were all old friends and were merely catching up. "Eat up. Fruits are great for you.'' He reached out to pat one of the creatures, grinning in AJ's direction. "Isn't this awesome?" he said to her as he reached to pat the second porlock as they somehow found their mouths through all that hair and proceeded to bite into the fruits.
She couldn't help but smile at him being as stubborn as she was. It was like they had to show each other up in every aspect. Aww. He was actually flattening his hair. AJ grabbed his hand and pulled it to his side. "Don't do that." No need to get all drastic on her there. More laughing. "I'm sure I'm a girl." Adi had jokes. "I think I would make a better boy though." She was practically a boy anyways.
How did she know that he would bring that up? "It doesn't have anything to do with how many porlocks show up." Speaking of them it didn't seem like anymore were going to show up for her or Adi so they were officially tied up on this part of the competition. So technically Adi won because he beat her at the spells, but there was no need to bring that up.
Her boyfriend was enjoying the creatures as much as she was. She shot him a huge grin. "Totally awesome." There was only thing that could make this better. "Too bad they aren't unicorns." AJ was still waiting for that to happen. She wouldn't lose hope.
Following suit, she plopped herself down on the ground and started to talk to the two porlocks that came to her. "Aren't you cute." Oh yes he was, oh yes he was. She continued to pet him slowly so she wouldn't scare him. These were pretty awesome creatures.
Ah man!
Why did time have to go by soooooo fast? Adi was having fun with these little guys. They were actually still standing there listening to him just as they were earlier.
"Well, guys. I have to go now. It was realllllly cool getting to know you two. Hope you enjoyed the fruits.'' Adi got to his feet and looked over at AJ. Was she ready to go? "Bye, you two.'' He patted their heads once more. He waited until the porlocks had gone back towards the Winged horses before going over to AJ. "Some lesson that was.'' By that, he meant it was AWESOMEEE!
Now, where was Benny? While he waited on his bestie he would just go over to Thompson. Had to tell the man what he thought of the class, you know. "This was an awesome lesson, Professor. Porlocks are so cool!'' Just so you know.

He rather liked hanging out with his Porlock buddy... it was... FASCINATING. Like.. yeah... and the hair was fun. Hehe. So when the Professor called for them to say their goodbye's, Zeke couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
"Sorry bud, I've gotta go... and you should go back to your horse friend," he started, though he wasn't sure if the creature understood. "Thanks for hanging out with me, maybe I'll see you around?" he asked uncertainly. It would be nice if he could, but if it didn't want to be seen then that was a whole other story. "Bye," he added, giving the creature one last affectionate pat and stroke of the hair.
Naawww man...
As much as he liked to eat, he didn't fancy taking any fruit with him, so instead he just gathered his things and made to head back to the castle. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor," he said as he moved passed the Professor.

Awwww. Was it time for class to be over already? Janelle wasn't ready to leave yet, but she guessed she'd have to. Turning to Nigel, she gave him one last pat. "I have to say goodbye now buddy, the Professor said so. I'll come back and visit you and I'll bring you more fruit. You be a good boy and I'll see you later."
Janelle reluctantly left her new friend and headed in Professor Thompson's direction. "Thank you Professor. I enjoyed the lesson very much. Is it OK if I come back to visit my Porlock and can I bring him more fruit?" Please say yes.

Yer joost say 'Flipnsnipwitit' and do a sort of karate chop motion towards the bit yer want cut toff."
"I'll give yer a live demo." He said, reaching into the fruit pile once more and pulling out a red delicious. "Magimus.", he said circling the deep red apple. Once the sparkly halo-like loop had faded away and all that remained was a shining red fruit of enhanced sweetness, Cutty placed the apple onto his desk and karate chopped with his wand down the center of it without actually touching. "Flipnsnipwitit." Tucking his wand between his arm and the torso, he took the halves each in one hand and showed them to Tia. "I'm hoping to attract them quicker with a stronger smell. G'head! Give it a go!" He said enthusiastically.

He gathered his fruit and stuffed it into his robes pockets. "I'm goin' in." He told the girl (Tia), taking his leave of the area nearest the fruit basket and further out into the grassy knoll.
Cutty ventured far and when he reached an uncrowded spot, not too far from Dot, he crouched down tossing the sliced apples out first and furthest. He remained like a lioness. Tossing again, this time the lemon midway between him and sliced apple, he held perfectly still, wand at the ready holding the last piece of fruit close to him.
Ooh well that would be a handy spell to know. Dices? Tia imagined that would be useful especially in cooking or baking; prevent injuries in the kitchen. "Flipnsnipwitit." The fourth year said, following the older boy's lead on her own lemon. She watched as a small piece of the lemon came cleanly off.
And then, he was off. And her apple was .... where? Hadn't she rolled it over there .... Blinking into the distance, the fourth year frowned at her now invisible apple, deciding a porlock probably stole it very conniving like. Sighhhhh. On the plus side, she still had two more ...
BUT before she could gently roll it while paying attention this time it seemed they were out of time. Hmph.
Tossing her sweetened fruits behind her because she didn't want them for the winged horses or porlocks to fight over them, Tia strode over to the fruit basket and filled her robes up with apples. Only apples. Nothing to see here.
She gave a glance towards the professor. "Thanks Professor for the interesting lesson." Even if she didn't get to befriend a porlock. Always hope for next time.

Aww class was over? Already. The lesson seemed to just fly right by today, probably cause she enjoyed being around the animals so much. Letting out a small sigh ruffled her new friends fur gently once more. "I have to go now but since I know how to get you to come to me I'll be sure to visit you once I have time...bye." She smiled gently at the Porlock offering him one of the charmed apples as a goodbye thing.
Getting to her feet she brushed off her pants and returned her remaining fruits to the basket from which she'd gotten them. One her way out of the grassy area she gave a wave of her hand to the Professor. "Thanks for a fun lesson Professor, have a nice afternoon!" With that she left making her way towards her dorm.
