Yes, she definitely liked him moving closer. Mhm. Full attention on him, the room slowly fading away from her view, she listened to him explain it all. So.... maybe this wasn't as hard as she was making it out to be? Or maybe it was and she was completely going to get this next part wrong..... Well... here goes.... it. She turned her attention away from him to scrawl on her own parchment. Text Cut: parchment! She slid the parchment toward him after returning her quill to her inkwell. "Does that look right?" Maybe? No? Probably? HOPEFULLY. But with him helping her, she couldn't fail. He wouldn't let her, would he? |
#3 Text Cut: Tobes & Zander. Tober. Zandias. Sophie VERY much appreciated Tobes' reaction to her giddy giggling, and just grinned even more at Zander's confusion. Soon enough, the laughter subsided, and she went back to work on Tobes' interpretations or whatever, and... just as she finished... the boys were done, too, and sharing, so she sat back and listened intently with an amused smile. All of the things about Zander were cute, and she could see the relevance in them. Tobes' animation whilst explaining made everything even funnier, and Sophie snorted every now and then at his energy - especially when he was done speaking, then just kind of exploded with energy and bounced away. Hilarious kid, he was. Then with Zander's explanation of her life, she hummed thoughtfully throughout, nodding along as he went - there really wasn't anything that sounded too far-fetched. Actually... it all seemed pretty accurate and she couldn't debate a single part of it. "Huh. That's... cool," she nodded when he finished, offering him an encouraging smile to let him know she thought he did a good job, since he seemed to be quite anxious and almost unsure of himself. "Sounds good to me. Thanks." For making her sound so good and all. Hehehe. Text Cut: Tanner TIME WAS ALMOST UP. And better yet... Tanner was saying she might have to RE-DO EVERYTHING if Tobes thought Fuller-Thompson was a better representation... Wibble. "If y'want me to re-do it, I will, Tobes," she nodded, eyeing her parchment and chewing the inside of her lip gently as she compared Fuller-Thompson to Tempus. Tempus had the same letters, it'd just be a matter of re-arranging... sigh. SIIIIGH. Could she re-do it all and map out the representations in just ten minutes, though? She wasn't so sure. "Since I already have this all written out... I'll go ahead and tell you what Tempus says, and if we don't like it or y'just wanna see, we can check out what Fuller-Thompson has to say. How 'bout that?" Was that okay? It MADE SENSE TO HER, so she just pressed forward. Time was a-wastin'. "SO, your mental cycle stuff... first one went from birth to five years old, talks about... worrying and being forgetful and expanding your horizons." Made sense. "Then, five to ten years old, it says... you're attracted to new philosophical ideas? That's kinda cool, and says you were helpful and easily inspired. And from ten to eleven - a really short one - says your awareness was higher than usual... a period of rebirth and awakening... heeeey, that's when y'came to Hogwarts! That's pretty appropriate." Cool stuff. "Eleven to thirteen... a time of strain and high-strung emotions." Oops. "You'd benefit from solitude and meditation... looks like Romanos had the right idea... and a strong desire for knowledge and stuff." Also made sense, because Hogwarts had all sorts of cool stuff to teach them. "From thirteen to nineteen, where you are now... more strong emotional experiences which'll affect your health, yadda yadda yadda... worrying a lot... sensitive emotional issues..." Ahem. Moving on. "And your last one goes from nineteen to twenty-eight. You'll find understanding and insight and it says y'should be cautious and aware of your surroundings." So... that sounded kind of ominous. But. Whatever. Now for the stuff that COULD change, if Tobes wanted it to. "For your spiritual cycle... this one only lasts till you're twenty-two. First part's from birth to two years old, it's a T again, so... stuff about high-strung emotions and whatever, which is cool 'cause you were a baby. Then from two to seven, another E, feeling inspired and helpful, attracted to new experiences and ideas..." She wasn't really sure how to interpret this spiritually. "Seven to eleven, creating distance between yourself and others... says relationships are tough in this cycle." Oop. "Then eleven to eighteen - your WHOLE Hogwarts career, that's pretty cool - many unexpected events, feeling out of control, confusion and disappointment, having difficulty expressing yourself... um... it says this is the time to focus on spiritual development?" She glanced up at him and offered a shrug. She wasn't really sure what that meant. "Then eighteen to twenty-one's an intuitive and sensitive time... long and forgotten emotional issues will resurface...???" He probably didn't want to hear that, actually. Could they reject the Tempus reading for him? "And twenty-one to twenty-two's an S again, with deep feelings and spiritual and mystical revelations. Ooo. Spooky," she teased, then flopped her parchment down and let out a long breath. All in all, his actually... sounded pretty relevant. But she DID wonder what the Fuller-Thompson one might have said. Hmmm. |

....which meant that...Yes, Gabe would devote more time to helping her understand this 'Transit' business. Accepting the offered parchment, he looked it over and nodded toward the calculations bit. Her math and number-letter correlations were right...but the years were slightly off. It wasn't a big deal really...The important information was taken care of. Just to be safe, however...Gabe dipped his quill and went about switching them around. Text Cut: Her Parchment! There. "Good job." Really...Pride colored his voice. "Ready for the Spiritual Transit, now?" SPOILER!!: His Parchment! |
Text Cut: Benny *repeats self cuz lazy* Apparently Benjamin was still confused. She didn't blame him. After all, this was a difficult subject, and it was highly unlikely she had explained it perfectly. "Let me give you a specific example. If my physical transit lasts 20 years, then I'm under it from birth to age 20. Then if my mental transit lasts 40 years, I'm under it between ages 21 and 60. So lastly, if my spiritual transit were another 40 years, it'd be from age 61-100." Helpful? Yes, no? Tiara checked her watch once more. "Five minutes left to finish up!" Some of them were really getting into this. She hoped they'd finish on time! OOC: It looks like some of you need another day cuz you're being so thorough, which is awesome! I'll give you until tomorrow night EST, so around 24 hours. |

The slightest frown appeared when Gabe corrected her work, but she replaced it with a smile when his gaze fell on her and that tone followed through with his words of encouragement. Her hair was tucked behind her ear as she piped up, "and that was ... Mental Transit?" she squinted and double checked her notes to be certain, even though he'd be giving her the thumbs up or down in a moment. She nodded, ready to start the next bit, and turned her gaze away from him after a moment of watching him. hehe. She didn't really want to look away. But THERE WERE ONLY FIVE MINUTES LEFT. EEK. Trying not to rush too much that everything would go terribly wrong, the girl scribbled down what she thought to be the next correct sequence. Text Cut: parchment! She looked over at the clock, a frantic expression flashing across her face, and slid the parchment back over to him. "Did I do it this time?" Did she get it? She had the best |
Lux heard what Professor Tanner said to Benny and it made her think that she was a little wrong with how she had worked it out in her head. The calculations had been correct, but her understanding was off. The whole thing had gotten a little confusing for her, she admitted and it was important that she understood perfectly just in case this stuff popped up on the exam. The total number of each transit wasn't the AGE of the person, but the DURATION. That actually made sense and she made a note of it. |
#2 SPOILER!!: He gave the girl a grin and then the Professor announced that they only had a few minutes left. Merlin, this class had really passed by quickly. As Angel set to work, so did Simon. SPOILER!!: notebook Simon looked up when Angel addressed him. Nodding, he took a peek at her math. It all looked fine to him. "I finished mine too. Here's the math part of yours. Perhaps now we should discuss the importance of these numbers," he said. They would probably have to say the significance of each one and what would happen at each stage. The Professor announced that now they only had five minutes. FIVE MINUTES TO EXPLAIN ALL OF THIS? *GULP* Here went nothing. Simon began giving Angel a brief education on what may happen in her life. "Your physical transit lasts from birth till age twenty one. During this time, you will experience a period of change and will become more self-aware. You will also gain more opportunities to expand your horizons and be adventurous- so nice job there. Meanwhile, you will also experience conflicting forces mentally and spiritually- so be aware of that. You'll feel inspired and helpful. Finally, take your time during your physical transit." Phew. That had been a lot. He took a deep breath and continued, ""Your mental transit cycle lasts from age 22 till age 54. You should remember to take your time once more. You will feel inspired during this time and attracted to adventure- seems apt as you are a Gryffindor... Anyway, I digress.. It also says that this cycle will be rather emotional. You will be impulsive during this time. Finally, your mind will be very active and you will have original ideas!" And now for the Spiritual one. "Your spiritual transit cycle will last from age 55 till age 94. First, you will be inspired but need time to contemplate these new ideas. Then you will be more independent than usual. Next, you will go through a phase where you should take things slowly. The slower the better. Ermm..You will feel inspired and once have opportunities to travel again. Next, you will be very emotional but you can still travel. You'll be emotional once again and accident prone so be careful. Then you can travel once more. And finally you will help people and will be attracted to new things." A summary of what he just said? "So essentially you may have the opportunity to travel the world a lot. You'll have a desire for adventure and a great thinker." He paused once more, picking up his quill. "Here, I'll write a quick summary of this in note form so its easier to understand. I know that was a lot of information that I just threw at you." Merlin... Arithmancy was a lot of work. |
SPOILER!!: Le Benny! <3 Say whaaah? Adi tilted his head as Professor explained things. Oh... so no reduction then? Well that could be easily fixed thankfully. At least he didn't have to go do over the interpretations. All that needed to be done with that was change the words he had said in past tense with future tense. WHEW! He nodded at Benny. "Yeah, I did. But I can fix that.'' Already the fifth year was making modifications to his calculations for his bestie. SPOILER!!: Adi's work for Benny! "There. All done. So your Mental transit lasts until 43 and your Spiritual one lasts until 27.'' Gosh. Forty Three. "Reckon you'll have grey hair by forty three?'' Adi pondered out loud and now imagining a grey haired Chinese Fireball. Hehe. |
not quoting but soph, zan, and Tanner ^.^ Cool. COOL COOL COOL. Zander seemed to be following with his reading, there were smiles all 'round, and everything was going WELL. Toby just grinned at the other two and sat back to listen to what Zander had worked out for Soph. HE JUST ABOUT MANAGED to refrain from interjected with a joking sort of ''SCUSE YOU' in jest at the implication that seventeen was 'properly old', juuuust about. Didn't want to interupt. Maybe later he'd point out to Zander that HE, TOBY, in fact would reach the grand old, muggle adult standard, age of EIGHTEEN in less than six months. Merlin. Toby had sensed Tanner walking by, and had expected her to either pass them by or maybe correct them if they got anything wrong. But what she actually spoke about was a pleasant enough surprise. He looked up at her, looking pleased. "Really?" Big ol' grin there from him. "Hey, awesome! Thanks Professor!" Of course, when he looked back at Soph, she'd already been working on the reading with his old name and seemed unwilling to redo all her work. Which was fair enough. He gave a shrug and, still grinning, shook his head. "It's cool! I can work it out for myself with the new name later. It'll probably take a while anyway." And hey, he could maybe start an Arithmancy journal with readings for himself in preparation for NEWTs next year. It was all good practice. NEWTs though. Oooop. Wait, no, no time to think about that, 'cause now Soph was reading his stuff out to him. Toby tried to slow the bouncing and instead focus on listening, but in the end, as always, it was fidgeting that helped him concentrate, so Toby sat there and twirled his quill and stuff until she was done. "Wow. That name doesn't seem to have a lot of luck," he joked, seeming genuinely pretty chill. "Reckon I'll definitely see what the other reading says, too." If he got round to it, y'know. Soooo, they were done? They were DONE. "Nice one, guys. Guess that's a wrap." Oh, wait. Muggle reference. Would they both get it? EH. YOLO. THAT'S A WRAP. |
Post 4? SPOILER!!: Professor Oh... As Benny listened as Tanner continued to explain what she meant, it finally sort of click. So transits were like the major cycles where the three different transits played off and after each other. That's how the unreduced numbers played in with one another over the course of the subject person's life. "Alright..." he said with a simple nod and small smile at the professor, "That makes sense." The Gryffindor certainly understood it more now than he had previously. SPOILER!!: Bestie As the woman moved on to alert the class of the five minutes they had left, Benny in turn returned his full attention to Adi and their mutual work. At least he hadn't been alone in the reductions and as the Hufflepuff said, it was definitely fixable. He looked at his work and switched small numbers out for the larger, more fitting ones, crossing out the reductions. Now he just needed the physical transit information that Adi had calculated on his own. SPOILER!!: Corrected work "So 43 years starting after age 32..." he mused, adding what Adi was saying to the physical calculations. So his mental transit ended at his 75th year. "Not sure about 43....but definitely by 75." Eying you about the thought of grey hair after that aging term a few years back. That was an old age, even with the extended life span of the average witch or wizard. And if his life was interesting and stressful like currently, he supposed the grey hairs would indeed be there. Looking over at Adi's parchment, he noticed the number for his best friend's physical transit. "If I understand it, since your physical transit ends at 24, your mental transit starts then and ends 32 years later at 56. And your spiritual transit is lasts from 56 to 88 years of age." |
post 3 Angel was lost she was totally at a loss of what she had to do here, she was very scared about going wrong. SPOILER!!: work Your Physical stuff happens to 25, your Mental stuff is until you are 50 and then your spiritual aspect happens until you are 81. She was totally upset about her work she had to do something but she couldn't remember what. "I'm totally lost about what I have to do next with this stuff." Angel sighed, she listened to what Simon was saying about her and it was all confusing her at the minute, normally she was really good at Arithmancy but today things were going wrong. |
#4 SPOILER!!: Angel Simon paused after he heard Angel's response. She was lost? He bit his lip. "Alright, let's rewind everything," he said, trying to figure out where she had gotten lost. He understood her confusion- Arithmancy was very, very confusing. He remembered having Lolita Domingo as his Professor in third year and she was very confusing, but at least she gave them free food. Anyway, focusing on Angel, he paused. "Alright, what we have to do now is describe is what happens during each of these cycles. The number that we found describes how long each of these phases or letters will last," he explained as he reached into his bag, pulling out his textbook. Flipping to Chapter 28, he found the meanings behind each letter. "Now we have to find meaning of the letter. By this, I mean....Okay, first, let's look at 'S'. For 'S', the meaning of that letter is," He paused, taking a deep breath, and paraphrased the text. "From birth to age one, I apparently went through a very emotional time when I was young. During this time, I also wished for freedom. This was an exciting time for me filled with 'extraordinary events'. " Simon paused once more, glancing at Angel. "So essentially, you have to go through each of the letters in each name and write out the meaning of each one per the time period....Err.. Does that make more sense?" |

With only two minutes left before the bell signaled the end of the period, Tiara had no choice but to cut them off. "Thank you for your hard work, everyone. I heard some excellent interpretations in the room today and saw a lot of work. Therefore," they would really like this, "I think we can take a lesson off from homework, don't you?" Who was she kidding? They were students, they didn't want homework. "So if I'm not mistaken, there's some beautiful weather outside calling your name... Get to it! Have a wonderful rest of your day, everyone. Class dismissed!" |
No homework?! Woot! Talk about Adi being one happy Puffer. "I guess we're all done here, Dragon?" He thought Benny had done his interpretations right too, by the way. Creativity sounded about right to him though he was a little confused about the periods of change. But like Professor Tanner had said, it's a great day outside soooo time to soak up some sunshine, yeah? "Bye, Professor! See you around.'' With that, Adi headed out of the room knowing Benny wouldn't be far behind. |
