The door to the tidy and clean classroom was open, the weather was less severe and professor Botros did not fortify the warming charm this time. The desks were put in three long rows as usual with nametags on each desk, it was customary that you take the same seat you took all term, professor Botros liked his students to stick to where they sat in the classroom. Easier to remember their names and faces.

The old professor himself was sitting on his chair behind his big desk that was on the small dais in the front of the classroom. This was quite uncharacteristic of him, those who knew him knew he liked to stand at the door and greet everyone as they came in. Not today, though. Today was different and the atmosphere in the entire school was solemn after the brutal attack and tragedy that happened in the forbidden forest.

Walk in, take a seat and remain silent until the class starts.

Cilla sadly entered the classroom with a polite nod of greeting to Professor Botros. She was not being rude to her teacher but she was in no mood to speak. She headed for her usual seat and sat down.

The first thing Kevin noticed when he was walking towards the classroom door was that the Professor wasn't standing there like usual. It could be coincidence but also a trap. He doubted his own thinking though but still he grabbed his wand as he approached the classroom. Once at the door, he saw the Professor sitting at his desk. He sighed and put his wand back in his wrist holster before entering the classroom completely.

"Morning..." he mumbled after he had found a seat in the middle and didn't look at the old Professor but at the door with surprisingly a concerned expression on his face. Was Zander skipping class again or would he be here today? He missed his best friend, classes were boring without him...

Today was not one of those days the Hufflepuff was bouncy. For two reasons: it was so early and given the recent incident. He was wide awake enough to notice the his Head of House was not present at the door as he usually was but instead Adi found him seated at this desk. "Good morning, Professor Head of House.''

Turning to go to his regular seat, Adi noticed Cilla and Kevin, both of whom he sent slight smiles. Once at his seat, the fifth year got about to getting out his books and writing stuff.

Seeming very much preoccupied with his own thoughts, Tobias entered the Ancient Runes classroom. He'd vaguely registered something was different, but it wasn't until he was sat at his usual desk that he realised that the 'something' was Professor Botros had not been stationed at the door. Huh. Also, Truebridge probably wouldn't have been happy with the distracted entrance he'd made, but she wasn't here and Botros had already been in the room, so he gave his no further thought.

Toby looked up at Botros now, quiet as he got his parchment, quill and ink out of his desk, and gave a nod. "Hi, Professor." He wrote out the date and his name at the top of his parchment, then sat and waited for the class to start, distractedly twirling his quill between his fingers as he always did.

Angel was in stealth mode at the minute, she was on her own and what the Headmistress had said had gone to her heart and now she was going to make sure things went great, she wasn't going to get caught out by anyone, she was now walking down the corridor, ever so offence ducking towards a wall in case there was any danger around.

Angel then got near the door and peeked into the room, there was a few people already in there and a Professor sat at a desk but was it a Professor or an imposter, she felt like asking him for some Identification but in the end she decided that it was the Ancient Runes Professor.

"Morning." Angel said as she went over to her seat and then she got out her books and her writing stuff, she wondered what they would be doing this lesson, because she wanted something to distract her.

Norah entered the classroom with her eyebrows pushed together 'cause Botros wasn't standing at the school like usual. Was he okay? Was anyone okay? All this weird stuff going on was worry worry worry all the time, and the third year found herself fidgeting more than usual. She took it all back, if this was being a teenager she really didn't want to be one anymore, because it was scary and no fun and had too much worrying in it.

As she took her usual seat, she have Professor Botros a tiny smile before removing her belongings and placing them on the desk. What fun. Worrying, gloomy stuff, and a class that didn't even make sense.

Hady walked into the classroom silently her eyes scanning over everyone in turn. When they landed on the Professor she gave him a small but warm smile. "Morning Professor," she greeted simply as she walked deeper into the room.

Passing each of her fellow classmates she gave them all a small friendly nod in greeting. Coming to her desk which was across the room Hady slipped silently into her seat removing her textbook, parchment and quill placing them onto her desk. Her bag was then set down on the floor at her feet.

With everything in order the second year lifted her eyes to the Professor quietly waiting for the lesson to began as if nothing was wrong. It was best to keep a calm relaxed state of mind for her.

Time for another Ancient Runes Lesson. Kace was quite excited to know what they were going to be learning about this lesson. As he made his way inside he noticed other students were already in here. He smiled and nodded towards all of his fellow classmates. Did they still have to do the name tag thing? I mean obviously not for him since Bostros was head of his house. He should know his name by now.

As he took his seat, he noticed Bostros was in the room. He waved to him and said, "Good morning Professor." He heard Adi's greeting and he chuckled at it. He was gonna say something along those lines but someone beat him to it. He got out his sketchbook and began to do some doodles before class begins.

Yawning, Lux set foot inside the Ancient Runes classroom. The first thing she noticed was that Professor Botros wasn't standing by the door as usual. I had to be because of Gregoire's death. She could definitely relate as the event made her feel sad too; not only was it a terrible thing to happen to a young boy, but it also brought back memories of when she thought Bay was going to die. That had been the worst time in her life because she couldn't bear to lose him.

Sadly she waved to her friends, not feeling her usual excitement and happiness. "Good morning, Professor." Sitting down in her assigned seat, she took out what she would need for today's lesson.

Sooooo... was he supposed to practice constant vigilance even in classrooms with Professors? Who was to say THIS Professor Botros wasn't a madman disguised with polyjuice potion? Hhhmm? Yeah. YEAH!

Entering the class, Zeke opted to take the scenic route to his desk, bypassing Botros in the process. "Hello, Sir," he greeted firstly. No point in being rude. "So um... tell me something nobody but you would know about me." Go on, he knew he wanted to. Cue curious looks.

He'd go to his seat once he was sure he didn't have a competing Dark Wizard to take care of.

Okay so he didn't hate Runes.

It just had the annoying habit of being extra early...like transfiguration. Was it any wonder Benny, and others he was sure, had trouble focusing and getting what they were being taught. At least the first time around. One just had to push past it and try one's best at it he supposed, making sure to get into bed early the night before...if one could with everything else happening.

The Gryffindor made his way up to the Ancient Runes classroom after breakfast, seeing he was on time by a glance at his watch and the number of students there in the room. Of course Adi had managed to make it in before him, Angel's presence more a surprise. "Good morning Professor," he greeted as best he could as he entered further into the classroom in search of his seat. "Hey..." he greeted weakly to his friends.

Don't mind the lion a little out of it.

Marigold was definitely subdued as she entered the classroom. Still not over a STUDENT DYING, obviously, and she felt very guilty. She was supposed to be a prefect, and actually be able to keep students safe, but evidently not. Plus, Zander and some other prefects seemed down, which made her sad.

"Hi, professor," she said, doing her best to greet him with a smile that didn't fully extend to her eyes. She didn't even notice he wasn't there, she was so distracted.

So.......yeah. Heather had been pretty subdued since the death of the Slytherin and subsequent Headmistress-led DADA lesson. And speaking of said lesson, she was glad that Professor Botros was already in the room, because it meant she didn't have to go through the whole routine of checking the room for Dark Wizards and whatever else the Headmistress wanted them to think was in, or possibly in, the castle. It was way too early in the morning for that.

"Hello, Professor Botros," she greeted, making her way to her assigned seat and sitting. Wait. The professor wasn't by the door as he usually was. Was he sick? Or maybe just tired? Was he having trouble sleeping because of recent events?

So... despite the mandatory lesson with the headmistress, Sophie did not feel the need to be constantly vigilant. The incident with the Slytherin kid was a horrible, tragic accident that could have been prevented, yes, but... it wasn't like the danger had sought the boy out and left the forest and got him right on the grounds. No, the boy was the one who had been foolish, and this particular Ravenclaw didn't see dangers inside the school. At least... not right now. No, today she was just going to a very early Runes class and was going to focus and work on sufficient OWL preparation...

...Except there was no kind old grandfatherly figure standing at the door to greet her. Sophie peeked her head inside the classroom curiously, only to find that the man in question was sitting at his desk. Perhaps that should have been a little suspicious... but, no, Sophie didn't think this was something to be vigilant about - she gathered this was a reflection upon the tragedy that had struck the school. So, with a weak smile on her face, the fifth year took her seat next to Tobes and greeted the professor gently, "Hello, professor," and proceeded to set out her materials for class. Tobes got a reassuring smile, too, then she let her gaze drift out the window.

Ohhh, how she wished they could have class outside for the day's lesson.

He made a promise to himself not to miss this class because one, it’s Professor Botros, two it’s Ancient Runes. Even if he’s still feeling faint, he made the effort to attend this particular class. Maybe the move will make him forget about Greggy’s death, even for just a moment. Poor chap, really. Gregoire got in trouble last term for making an unnecessary move towards a troll back in Potions, and now…well, he’s gone for good.

The moment he stepped inside the classroom, he immediately felt the morose atmosphere. Ethan bit his inner cheek, shifted his bag, and went to his designated desk. “Good day, sir.” The Slytherin’s lack of enthusiasm can be noted even by the densest creature inside the school. Let’s just say that he’s still feeling weak at the moment. Hopefully the lesson for the day won’t be a bore…

Janelle made her way toward the Ancient Runes classroom with less thn her usual enthusiasm. Things were not the same and probably never would be again. That was sad for many reasons. She reached the door, wand in hand and peered cautiously inside. No Professor Botros at the door. Was this a test?

When Janelle spotted the Professor at his desk, she breathed a sigh of relief.......sort of. We're things really as they seemed? How would she ever know? Janelle hated feeling anxious and suspicious. She was twelve. She was supposed to be carefree and unconcerned. It seemed that those days were over.

"Hello Professor", she said quietly as she passed by. Then Janelle took her seat and glanced at the faces around her. Nothing to do but wait.

Botros smiled and nodded at every ~~sad~~ student walking into the classroom, even those who were too sleepy to say anything got a smile and a nod from him.

Some others were too awake for their own good. Botros blinked at the young boy, trying to find a reason for that question, but failed. "Uh you struggle with runes but I still give you good credit because I can see you try your best...?" That was the best Botros could do, was it good enough?

Anyway.

Now that the most students were settled in, he waved his wand at the door closing it gently and got up without moving around. He was find behind his desk. "Good morning all. I hope you all had something to eat before coming up here." He widened his smile and straightened up. "Today, we're doing something that is more craftship than runes." Not much theoretical background. "If you look under your seat, you'll find a plastic tray with paper, a piece of colorful fabric, a couple of candles, and a small bowl. But first..." He folded his hands on his sliiiiiiightly big belly. "... who knows what fire resembles in the Norse era?"

Everyone seemed so sad. Even the Professor. Things were just not normal. And why should they be?

Amur let out a long sigh, resting her chin in her hand as she watched people absently. At least the room was still inviting, and the Professor was kind and warm as ever. A reassuring figure. The superhero-like old man and his cane. The one that was probably the most sturdy out of them all in the room right now.

And what was this? Presents? Well, sort of. It was a surprise nonetheless, and it was welcome at this point. As the Professor spoke, Amur couldn't help but grip the edge of her desk and chair and lean over, tipping her head upside down to peer under her chair. True as beans, the items were there.

This should be interesting.

Especially given it invovled....fire?

Amur straightened, tucking one hand under her leg as she raised the other in the air, more to resist pulling the items out from under her desk than anything else. "It was a symbol of hope and comfort, providing warmth and light in dark tim....es..." Her words trailed off as she glanced around the classroom, sheepishly.

Bad timing? Really bad timing?

As his fellow students walked in to the classroom one by one, Kevin kept checking if Zander would walk through the door. But he wasn’t and class started soon. He was skipping again, he was sure if it. He sighed when Adi greeted him and he didn’t even feel like calling him Dumbo at the moment. He needed to do something for his best friend because this was getting ridiculous!

He turned to the front when the old Professor started the lesson and he chuckled slightly at Zeke not trusting him. It reminded him of how he had to prove that he was himself with Culloden. Anyways, Kevin sat more upright when the Professor mention the word craftship. That meant less theory right?

He looked under his chair for a second and then thought of the question. “northern lights?” he asked. He had no idea really.

Angel was really confused as she looked at the stuff that the Professor had told her about, things were really weird about this lesson but she would try and figure things out at the minute, though she hoped that someone would say something that she could follow on with but at the minute the northern lights were the best thing and Angel didn't want to use that.

Angel raised her hand. "Professor how about it represents the dark side?" Angel wasn't sure about that at the minute but she thought that she would give it a try, that is what fire meant sometime evil and dark sides stuff, right.

They were making stuff? Gandrs? Oh, no... maybe no, with that description. Toby leaned to the side and peeked down under his chair at the stuff down there. Botros hadn't said they could pick it up yet, so he didn't touch, just looked and tried to deduce just what they'd be getting up to in class today.

He was maybe sorta kinda so absorbed in trying to figure that out that Toby ended up missing the question that Botros had asked them, and suddenly the sixth year was sat up again and looking around at those who were providing answers, trying to work back to what the question was. Errr... nothing. No idea.

But that was okay. Concentration lapses happened to him all the time, now more than usual. Toby just resolved to try and keep focused from that point on. He listened to his classmates and looked back at Botros again, trying not to give the game away. Just sitting out this question, yep.

Norah smiled at Professor Botros again, because he smiled first and it felt good to smile for what felt like the first time in a century. Sigh. She leaned over and took a peak under her chair, widening her eyes a little before straightening up. Cool or not cool, she really didn't know what this 'norse' stuff even was. STILL. Would she EVER figure that out? The third year sat silently before deciding it was worth a shot even though she was pretty much guaranteed to be wrong, and put a hand in the air. "Did it resemble mystery? 'Cause how fire works is kind of mysterious, right?" At least it was to HER. This whole entire subject was mysterious.

As Kace was sitting in his seat working on his doodles, he noticed that the Professor started the lesson and he toned down his doodling for a bit. He looked under his desk and noticed the supplies. Well he did like crafts. He brought them onto his desk and smiled and was excited for the lesson. He heard Bostros question and thought about it. What did fire mean in the Norse world? He raised his hand and said...

"Professor doesn't fire mean a new beginning?" I mean that was one way of putting it right?
