The rickety wooden covered bridge has been standing for many, many years at Hogwarts, and remains the main entrance from the courtyard to the rest of the grounds. The bridge has faced plenty of damage and repair over the years so give it some respect and report anything wibbly-wobbly to the Groundskeeper.
Well THIS was unexpected. Maddie didn't bother turning to see who had joined her as she recognized the voice immediately. Noel Wallace. Confusing boy, he was. She was honestly surprised he was speaking to her given how their last conversation ended. At least now she could pick his brain.
"Noel." Finally glancing at him, she studied his face and expression. Neither were giving much away so she added, "Didn't think I'd be seeing you for a while."
"Why?" he asked, like he didn't know the reason eluded him completely.
"We are friends. We have to see each other" he stated as a matter of factly. "So how are you? What have you been upto?"

"Honestly, Cooper, you are imagining things," he insisted. "I had forgotten to write to my mom and she hates that so yeah" He could go on forever. Of course, he hated using his mom's name but desperate times, you see.
"Now come on, tell me what have you been up to?"

This was the moment Noel wished Hayley would have taught him better Italian curse words because then he could have easily cursed the Paris guy in his head and felt better. The only one he knew just did not feel right and he was definitely not feeling better.
"Well, I wish you good luck then. But I am pretty sure it will suck for you" he said not so casually, while looking away from her because it was the library feeling all over again.

Ah. So she wasn't going to kiss a guy name Paris, a very stupid grin came to his lips but he quickly hid it so Maddie wouldn't see. "I am not being weird, just not comfortable with the topic I suppose"
"I am sorry" he quietly added.

He thought that he was perhaps trying to hit someone!?
Kevin stopped using the stupefy spell and turned his head to the side where the Professor stood to look at him. With his free hand, he grabbed his chest as if clutching his heart and gasped extremely exaggerated. "I'm offended! i would never do that, what kind of person do you think i am! " he shook his head. "Nah , i'd rather attack head first" he grinned. "Its more exciting" he smiled TOO brightly , flashing teeth as he did so. Yep, something was defenitely wrong with that kid. But he didn't think so...
Looking at the Professor more intently, looking for any emotions or signs that could give away that he was hiding something and could remember what had happened. But he found none. "You don't? well you're boring...i mean THATS boring" ahem... Pocketing his wand back in his wrist holster, the third year turned around and leaned with his back against the wooden edge of the bridge and folded his arms.
At his next surprised question, Kevin cocked his head to the side. "Wow, there's a lot you don't know huh?... I MEAN...well , you probably know more than me cause you're super old " ARGH that was also not what he meant! "Ugh, you get what i mean right? ...this whole stupid being polite thing is so difficult!" he said more to himself than to him. "But just this once, i'll let you in on a secret because i KNOW how to elude that book" he nodded his head.
"Because".... he waited a few seconds to make his words have more of a dramatic effect and then continued. "I don't even like to read! i told you all that reading was not good, who is laughing now?!" he was bwahaha. "But really, there is NOTHING that can possess me!" yeah, he was THAT awesome.
Whaaaa?
Cosgrach watched the performance with a slightly open mouth, and he burst into a laughter at last. "Gotta agree," he conceded, and thought of adding he still preferred the sly way, but kept it to himself. Kevin might be offended just because of his laughter, and he wasn't in a mood to argue, because they were discussing important matters like this book.
He listened to the boy. While he DID find a few words offensive, the boy tried his best to be somewhat polite, so he'd give him the benefit of the doubt and just kept listening, because he wanted to hear how he eluded the curse.

There was that smile. Maddie noted that it was different from his other smiles as she was observant when it came to Wallace facial expressions. MOSTLY because his seemed to change so often when she was around. It was curious. It made HER curious. She smiled too and tilted her head, watching him. At least the smiling was better than the broody look he sometimes got.
"I've been hanging around the potions lab," She informed him. "Oh and I've been hanging around with Thornton Baines recently. He's a first year but he's got potential." Dot had been right.
