Stepping into the arena, you are immediately enveloped with the light shining into the room, either morning or evening depending on what time you decide to enter. If you can tear your gaze away from the intricately designed windows and high ceilings could, you can see to the very right of the room, there is the long platform in which supervised duels will take place while four benches on either side are placed at a safe distance for those who would like to sit and watch. Just ahead of the platform in the right corner, there is a door, though pay no attention to it. It's locked for a reason.
Towards the back wall, there are various types of practice dummies, both stationary and moving, depending on what difficulty the practicer wants. Don't be afraid to go all out with your spells, for these dummies are charmed to repair themselves. There is one practice dummy set aside that will shoot spells back to the practicer, however, permission from a Professor is required to use it. To the left side of the arena are two sets of stands, eight seats high, that look out to the entire arena, comfortable for those who would just like to watch what's going on all around or for general purposes such as studying or relaxing after a long day in the arena.
The middle of the room is quite empty, due to the fact that the defense Professor enjoys presenting lessons in here, but please, despite the brilliant light that shines through the arena due to the large windows, it is not some place to sunbathe or fall asleep. You will be levitated out with a good dose of cold water splashed on you if caught.

SPOILER!!: AJ the over confident :P

Adi shook his head, still smirking. "You're over confident today, aren't you?'' He was baiting her, which was something he did a lot to get her working harder.
He liked watching her be all happy. If it were possible, he'd say it made her look a whole lot prettier but she was already the most beautiful girl in his eyes. "Certainly won't be the last though.'' He was confident about that. "Just keep up your concentration.''
Adi thought the Tickling Charm was wearing off for he was laughing less and he could feel himself slowly regaining control of himself. Uh oh. Langlock? If that hit him, he wouldn't be able to utter an incantation. The Puffer (still laughing) raised his wand to cast a Shield Charm. Either it worked or AJ's spell missed him. His tongue was not glued to the roof of his mouth. Awesome!
Raising his head, Adi could see her wobbling around. Perfect time for another spell. "Steleus!'' Green rings emitted from the wand clutched in his firmer and less shaky grasp.
She was pretty sure there was no such thing as over confidence. "I'm just really sure of myself." Which pretty much translated into the same thing, but AJ didn't see that as a bad thing. If anything it made her want to work that much harder so she could prove she had every reason to be "over confident".
Was he not the cutest thing ever? "Nope. There's more where that came from." Keep up the concentration. Got it. His hair was looking really nice today. Nooo... she was in a duel. She shook her head in a vain attempt to clear it. FOCUS!!!
Langlock didn't work, but she had some more tricks to try. Not before Adi hit her with a new spell. All of a sudden she was sneezing. It wasn't just an ordinary sneeze either.
"ACHOO!" Sniffle. "ACHOO!"Her eyes were watering, and the tickling sensation in her nose never went away.
How could she think under these conditions? The sneezes were coming one after the other. "Si-- achoo." She had to get a spell out. "Si.. Si.. Silencio!" Keeping up with the silencing theme, AJ hoped that it made contact even if she couldn't see straight.
AJ heard someone else enter and chanced a look over while Adi was getting his bearings. Oh looky, they had a spectator. Now there would be a witness to AJ beating Adi once more.
"That's over confidence,'' Adi called back. Which could be back sometimes because you can over estimate yourself and underestimate your opponent. Anyway, he had no idea what was going on in AJ's head about his hair but he was sure she'd keep up concentration up.
Awww poor AJ. Look at her go with all those sneezes and sniffles. Still, the spells he were using were the one's he'd chosen that wouldn't hurt her. Obviously she had also thought of the same because her spells were not the harmful ones either.
Uh oh. If the Silencing Charm hit him...he couldn't do non verbal spells yet. "Protego!''' Adi hastily slashed his wand in a vertical motion. In the nick of time too! Because the Silencing Charm produced no light, Adi could not determine if the Charm had been deflected. He tested his vocals. "Testing...testing Adi's awesome voice.'' Hehe. Seemed to be working fine.
And as if he couldn't resist doing more damage to AJ's legs..."Locomotor Wibbly!'' A complicated wand movement went with that incantation so Adi could only hope he did it right.
Oh! Professor Romanos! Haiiii! He managed a quick wave before directing his attention back to AJ.

"Just depends on how you look at it," she retorted. Nothing wrong with that. So far AJ hasn't had the over confident thing blow up in her face, so she was oblivious as to what may or may not happen. All she knew that she was READY at all times.
Her sniffles were under better control but not gone by any means. "ACHOOOOO." That was a good one. She thought that it might have been the end of it when the tickling sensation came back. Ugh. She wiped her eyes and tried to focus on her boyfriend opponent.
Adi had successfully blocked yet another spell she sent flying his way. Ugh, she wanted to win so bad, and she was not doing so well at the moment. She couldn't help but to laugh as he tested his voice. "Sounds just as good as ever." The duel was moving on. Locomotor wibbly? That didn't sound good. That sounded like the exact thing she didn't need. AJ was amazed by his wand movement skills, and lost her concentration for a split second. The spell came flying towards her at the same time a sneeze hit. Her knees buckled, and with everything going on at once, she completely lost her balance and fell over.
AJ was on the ground, but she was not defeated. No way she was giving up this easy. She had no control over her sneezes or her legs, but she would keep fighting. From a laying down position she pointed her wand directly at Adi, and cried "Impedimenta!!!" Her wand swished in the air. IF this worked then she would be able to freeze Adi in his spot long enough for her to get up on her own two feet.

"I get bored all the time, this could work," he nodded just casually deciding that this would be the case. The whole being locked in and tryign to forget it would have sucked. "Couldn't you have blown through the sealed secret passage and escaped?" he asked, remembering what Angel had mentioned to him before. The one behind the statue.
Focus. Concentration. Two things he seldom had control of... but for the sake of blowing something up, he'd try. "Got it," he nodded, trying his hand at his best commanding posture. Zeke stood and followed Lex's directions, letting her move his wand arm with his bendy Larch springy between his fingers. "Bombarda," he repeated with no intentiion whatsoever, just so he wouldn't prematurely fire. It was a simple enough incantation, not something he needed to practice, so instead... he tried focusing on the target dummy.
FOCUS!
CONCENTRATE!
"Bombarda!" he called out, trying his best to make sure his wand was pointing directly at the dummy's chest. He'd close his eyes though, as his wand kicked back from the force of the spell, and the sound... that loud sound was promising, but had it hit his mark?
"Did I get it?" he asked, slowly opening his eyes. Heh. Heh.
"I don't." Lex said, adding her side to their conversation on boredom. "I can usually find something to do," explosions being among them, "even if certain people don't agree." And a shrug. Not her fault Professors couldn't admire her handiwork the way she did because yes, Lex had times when she just sat back and watched everything she'd created crumple. The point of building blocks was to smash them after, no? She gave him a look for his question, not a harsh look, just a look. "Why?" It could have been a grand idea but not really. "What's the point? I'd have to come back...far more miserable than when I first left at that. It's like....putting your wand in your hand then knowing you have to put it right back on the shelf and walk away. Sometimes it's best not to have a taste, leaves you wanting." She watched as the last piece of the dummy fell back into place.
"'Sides, people notice when you've gone missing, especially when you've got a badge and responsibilities and if they don't notice you've gone missing then you aren't living right." Life lesson right there for you Zeke. Gotta be a presence or you'll disappear and no one will care enough to punish you or send search parties.
She nodded at his repetition of the incantation then took a step back for him to try....
Well...the blast was decent but...."The hell were you aiming at?" She asked, turning to him, head tilted in a mixture of curiosity and disbelief. She flicked her own wand in the direction of the dummy but didn't cast. "Dummies not seats. Romanos will flip if she sees the dent you made." But it'd ultimately be her fault so......"Reparo." Now NO ONE would get it. "Try again, eyes open this time, feet firmly planted on the floor, anticipate the blast; welcome it." Explosive expert right here, yup.

Okay, so it seemed that the sneezes were slowly but surely lessening. No doubt AJ would be able to totally focus soon. Oh Merlin! Adi couldn't help but laugh a little when she fell over and sneezed at the exact time. It was sort of funny to watch, you know.
Being on the floor did not keep AJ down. Well, literally but not figuratively. Adi was in the process of casting another Shield charm but found himself stuck. Really stuck. More like frozen. He was unable to move a muscle! His wand arm was raised and his mouth was slightly open. He figured he looked really silly. Uh huh. When was this jinx going to wear off?

AJ chose to ignore his little head shaking incident, and took his silence as an agreement. Hmpf!
She just fell over, and he was laughing at her. "I'm glad I amuse you." Really, she knew that she had to look a hot mess, and if she was in his shoes, laughter would be coming from her mouth as well.
Still lying on the floor, AJ blinked a few times to try and focus on Adi. Her spell worked? This was fantastic. The very break that she needed happened for her. It was funny how that sort of thing seemed to work out. It had been awhile since she sneezed so she was good on that part. If only she could get her legs to cooperate.
Pushing herself up, she was back in an upright position. Her legs still felt like jelly, but she was able to stand on them. That was all that she needed. Could she possibly beat Adi right now? Her confidence level was soaring right now. "Expelliarmus!" AJ didn't want to try out any spells that might hurt him so she stuck with what she knew was safe. What better spell than the one that had won her the duel last year? Would Adi be able to block it in time? :3

LOL. AJ looked funny. Well, the memory of her sneezing and falling over at the same time was. And Adi was still laughing about it. "You always amuse me.'' Seriously, she did and said crazy stuff that made him laugh like mad. So yeah, she was amusing.
The moments AJ took to remain on the ground after she threw the spell at him were enough for it to start wearing off. He could wriggle his hands. Awesome! And that Shield Charm incantation that had been forming from his mouth before he was frozen? He just made use of that. "Protego!'' AJ's next spell was deflected. Quickly he cast one back at her.
"Tarantallegra!'' Oh yeah. No mercy on her feet today.

He was still laughing, and this only made AJ start snickering. If only she could have seen her fall from Adi's point of view. She was sure that it would have been a sight to see. "I know. I am such a good time," Leave it to AJ to joke around during a duel.
Nooo.... he blocked another one of her spells. The brunette was starting to run out of spells that she knew. Worse case scenario she could always re-use some of the previous ones she tried out. Adi was putting up a fight. She was glad that he wasn't just letting her win because of their relationship status.
Then she lost control of her legs again. Her poor feetsies were dancing out of control. This was too much. It was as if her feet were all of a sudden in the mood for salsa. AJ roared with laughter all the while her feet kept dancing. Her feet were moving so fast that she tripped herself up, and fell down once again... This time though her wand fell from her hand and skidded halfway to where Adi was. Crap.

One thing about these two was that one of them could joke about something and the other would joke right back. Even if they joking about themselves. "That you are, girlfriend. That you are.'' And she was laughing along with him. Adi shook his head in wonderment. What had he done to have this awesome, wonderful girl in his life?
The Hufflepuff started laughing again as AJ's feet lost control. "Be sure to teach me some of those moves,'' he called. And her laugh...gosh, he loved her laugh. He could listen to it all day. Then she was down again causing her wand to fly out of her hand, landing close to where Adi was standing. A victory for him then?
He grabbed AJ's wand off of the ground. "Finite!'' he called, lifting the Dancing Feet spell as he approached her with his own wand. The Jelly Legs Jinx should have worn out completely by then so her feet should be back to normal. "Not handing me the victory because things have changed now, are you?'' Adi teased. He held out his hand to help her up.

Look at them laughing and agreeing. If this was what a relationship was all about, then AJ knew without a doubt that she made the right choice. Not that she ever doubted her relationship with Adi. It just made her feel better knowing they were exactly the same as before only now they could snog. "You're pretty cool too, boyfriend." Just had to throw that out there.
More laughing because how could you not? "I'd be happy to school you any day." Her feet had a complete mind of their own, and it was hilarious to watch. AJ stared at her wand. Whyyyy was it way over there? How could she lose her grip like that? She would have rather broken her wrist than to lose her wand.
Why did Adi have her wand? The duel wasn't over... it wasn't over. Oh, but it was, even if she refused to accept it. He stopped the spell he had on her feel and she was finally still. Nooooo. AJ didn't lose. This was a hard pill to swallow. "Why did you pick up my wand? It wasn't over." Coming to terms with defeat was awful. Nobody likes a sore loser, Valentine. With a deep sigh she grabbed Adi's hand. "I guess everybody gets lucky every once in awhile." She flashed him a smile. "Good duel. You had some pretty wicked wand movements." It was safe to say that she was impressed.

"I know. I'm the coolest boyfriend ever.'' Hehe. Adi was loving this so much. Probably ten times more. Or a million. Whatever. He just knew he was glad he'd make the decision to ask AJ to be his girlfriend.
"I bet you'd need that spell to help though,'' he joked. Adi just shook his head again. He knew how much AJ hated to loose. As he pulled her to her feet, he asked, ''You okay?'' He was referring to her feet. "Feet feel alright?'' Had to get that out of the way. He didn't want his AJ hurt or anything. "Thanks. I've just had lots of practice. You were pretty great yourself. AJ didn't have any other boyfriend experiences to compare Adi to, but that didn't matter because what he was saying was nothing but truth. "You totally are." In fact, he was the coolest person ever, and AJ was lucky enough to be able to call him her boyfriend.
"Nu uh. I can dance all by myself." The lion had never actually danced before. Well, she would while listening to music in her room, but nothing more than that. She wondered if she would be good at that. "I'm okay. My feet are as good as new." Her pride, now that was a different story. "Yeah." He was older than her anyways so naturally he had more skills than she did. "Thanks. I've learned from the best." He was a really great teacher and motivator.
She could feel him sizing her up. AJ was not going to be a debbie downer. "I just really wanted to win." He knew that. He knew how she was. "But if I have to lose to somebody... I guess I'm glad that it was you." She would never let Adi win just because he was now her boyfriend, just sayin'!
Did the professor watch their entire duel? Was she proud of her? Could she tell how much AJ improved over last year? Oh, she was leaving. Well, the show was over.

"Mhmm. Sure you can,'' Adi said distractedly, looking at AJ's feet. They seemed okay. She didn't seem to have any problems standing properly. Right. He was satisfied now but he couldn't help saying, "Sorry for harassing your feet today.''
"Next time I'm sure I'll have a more difficult time defeating you,'' Adi reassured AJ. She was a fast learner after all. "Well, maybe that's because you'll still have the best teacher.'' Shh. Don't let Professor Romanos hear that. LOL.
"So, I guess we should get going.'' Taking her hand, Adi led them towards the Arena's entrance. ''See you around, Professor,'' he called to the DADA lady.
A camp for wizards? New spells? Should Jasmine be afraid? Probably. However, Jasmine was intrigued by young Mr. Mordaunt so she was game. "Oh yes Mr. Mordaunt, I am most definitely up for it", she said with a smile. Having absolutely no idea of Cutty's level of ability, Jasmine knew she'd have to be on her toes. As far as she had seen, he seemed pretty sharp. Anyone who could run a candy hustle as successfully as he did had to be smart. No, she would not underestimate him for one minute. Moving her head from side to side and cracking her fingers, Jasmine said, "I'm ready when you are.". This was going to be very interesting.
The young snake concealed his excitement, but it was happening! Oh, yes it was! He was about to duel with 7th year beauty and prefect Jasmine Guidry. As a general rule, Cutty preferred the company of the older students more than those his own age. Although the younger years were sort of growing on him for their susceptibility and vulnerable side. It was from the older students that one could pick up advanced magic. And with a top student like Jasmine Guidry...
He could learn so much.
Even if none of this were true, he'd still revel in the benefit of her good looks. Yeah. She was the total package and Cutty was determined to make her his.
What an idiot.
The 14-going-on-15 year old snake turned and began to walk, putting some distance between the two of them for the benefit of the dueling practice. "Witches get the first cast always." He said after bowing to the opponent. "Ladies first."

"Haff a nice day, Mister Rehman. Miss Valentine," she called in return, giving a little wave and smile as she semi-turned towards them. "Looking forvard to seeing another duel soon." Practice makes perfect! Speaking of duels, her late inspection of the dueling arena would apparently have to be halted due to shiny distraction. More duels from the looks of it.
Did she arrive at the right time or what?
Plus, it was Jasmine and Cutty. Surely end up being interesting.

Were her feet okay? Adi kept looking at them, and she couldn't help but to wonder if he was seeing something that she couldn't. "Don't worry about it." She waved it off.
"Next time you won't defeat me." AJ would come out on top. She would train harder and longer. She was coming for you Aditya Rehman. "Of course," she said bumping his shoulder. "That is if you are still up for the challenge."
"Okay." She squeezed his hand as he grabbed a hold of hers. "Bye professor." AJ let Adi lead her out.

She didn't get bored? EVER?.......... ............................. HOW WAS THAT POSSIBLE?! Even with the explosions, really, HOW? Zeke was still thinking about this as she kept talking, unable to comprehend the point. What he was able to think about and comprehend clearly, was the point of wanting to break out of here if things got unbearable, which by the sounds of things is exactly what last year was like. Unbearable. But then, Lex was questioning why???? WHY question WHY?!?!?!.. "Eeerrr... because?" he offered with a shrug. "I mean, cause then you could come and go whenever, and that's an option at least, instead of nothing... of course, you'd have to blow it up all stealthy like." Because if they didn't it'd defeat the purpose. No matter, if she didn't want to, that was her choice to make.
The whole noticing that you've gone missing thing though, he didn't see the big deal in it. Could just mean you were under your bed or hiding in the library or something... maybe? But he was more interested in blowing things up than debating, so grinning he nod his head. He heard her, understood her even... didn't mean he had to agree. Though, he supposed there was SOME truth in it. If SOME people didn't notice he was gone THEN it would matter, but generally speaking, he didn't care.
...
He'd heard it, and then he heard Lex. Whooooooooops. "I was.. uh, it's chest?" he replied uncertainly. Eyes wide open now, he inspected the 'damage'. Heh. Yeah. OFF COURSE. The mention of Romanos was scary though, he hadn't yet met her, but all things considered... SCARY. He peered around, checking to see if they were being watched at all.
GULP.
Lex though, was AWESOME, fixing his messes... literally. She was the bomb, hehe. "Okay," he nodded. Zeke was determined this time, to HIT the actual dummy. No closing his eyes, no flinching away from BOOMs and he would get it!!! "The blast, the blast, the blast, the blast..." this was him anticipating it, yep, the only way he knew how.
Taking a breath to steady himself, making sure his feet were firmly planted, Zeke looked at Lex one last time before focusing his attention on the dummy ahead. Wand aimed directly at its middle, Zeke uttered -- eyes open, "Bombarda!" The hit was still not where he had intended it, but it made contact at least... with its leg, blowing it out from under him. "That counts, right?"

Zeke was missing the point completely, wasn't he? Sneaking out was one thing, it was another with class schedules and even Hogsmeade freezing but the line of conversation wasn't interesting enough to hold her so she simply shrugged and let him have it. Who knows, with a different personality it might have been worth it for him.
With the seat fixed, Alexa went and had herself a seat, which clearly meant Zeke couldn't fire in this direction anymore with that cruddy aim on him but she had enough faith he was smart enough to know that. Still, her wand was ready to cast a shield. You never know these days.
As she leaned back against the seat to observe, she kinda wished she'd brought her kneazle with her. He was good for a cuddle or two in times like these--
Blink.
Well then...."I mean, it could count since you actually hit it this time...but....why are you aiming at feet?" It was effective depending on the blast but...."Why not the head, or the chest? Vital organs. When people live they get to report you right after." Another lesson for him right there.

Jasmine was as ready as she was going to be, she guessed. She had come to the arena intending to battle a dummy. Now she would be dueling a real live person. It had been quite a while since she had last dueled and she hoped that she would not embarrass herself. Oh and just to add to the pressure, Jasmine happened to notice Professor Romanos observing from the stands.
As Cutty started walking away from her, Jasmine turned and walked in the other direction. Taking a deep breath, she turned to face him. Then she bowed in return. Wasn't he a gentleman, letting her go first. "Are you ready?", Jasmine asked. Trying hard to concentrate, she raised her wand and assumed the dueling position. Counting down in her head, Jasmine shouted, "Rictusempra" while firing the tickling spell in Cutty's direction. She immediately assumed a defensive position while checking to see if her spell hit its mark.

No response? Nothing? Nudda? ...... He was cool with this. It meant he won right? He won the debatey-conversation about breaking out and having FREEEEEEDOM. Yep. He'd see it as a win anyway, Lex was Head Girl, she won in all the other ways.
Zeke was chuffed that it made contact, he was honing his skills quite nicely, or so he thought until Lex came out and said THAT. "I'm working up to it," he fibbed, "you know... starting small before going big." Something like that. Or at least, it was like that in his head because failure at blowing things up was not an option. So NOW... it was a matter of showing his true potential, of blowing things up. "Spose I could aim for them," he shrugged, getting a firmer grip on his Larch.
"Look! Ready?" ... and even if she wasn't, too bad... he was aiming - VERY PRECISELY AT ITS LUNGS AND HEART AREA and... "Bombarda!"

A polite little nod for spectator and teacher of the craft, Professor Romanos. Though, he had to focus, for any minute now Guidry was going to...

All, but his enormous ears were spared the suffering of tickling without relief. "Yer missed!" And at first, this seemed obvious except for the hand reaching up to apparently wipe something away from the ear. But that didn't relieve the horrible wormy sensation Cutty felt tingling all about his ear and soon his hand was affixed as if permanently toward his ear, the palm running in a twisting motion like he was screwing a cap onto it as he tried to relieve it.
Worst part was he felt like laughing.
Ugh! Guidry! She might have been a beauty but it wasn't enough to stop him from getting her back for this one. Aware of their audience, Cutty casted toward her, "Tarantallegra!" in a voice shaky from suppressed laughter. Most gentlemen would ask for a dance, but thanks to the Italian wizards they did not have to.

Starting small before going big? "That kind of thinking will get you killed." She pointed out, sizing up another dummy across the room. That one fired back. It'd been brilliant fun the last time the Professor let her near it. "If you start small and the other starts big, you die and can't make your way to big." But that was something he could have easily figured out on his own...unless he died first so...yeah.
In truth, Lex wasn't ready, she was still deciding to leave the dummy over there alone because of a reluctance to walk to the Professor's office to ask permission but his words drew her attention back to his dummy nonethess so she WATCHED.
"Brilliant!" Might have been a little off centre but no one could survive something like that so Zeke would live to see another day. "Reckon you can do a head shot next?"

Jasmine hoped that she was ready for whatever Cutty sent her way. Clearly he had avoided her spell, or had he? Why was he rubbing his ear so vigorously? She didn't have time to dwell on the question because he had already fired back on her. Jasmine quickly shouted, "Protego" and a shield formed, protecting her for the moment. Too bad because the dancing spell was one she wouldn't have minded getting hit with.....not too much anyway.
"Incarcerous", Jasmine said, sending another spell back at her dueling foe. Rope shot out from her wand and headed straight for Cutty. Jasmine was already preparing to defend herself and thinking ahead to her next spell. Hopefully she would get the chance to use it.

Killed? Did she just say KILLED? He'd have gulped but he didn't think he'd find himself in MANY situations where death was possible. Even the nice Knockturn Dark Wizard dude had let him go without causing him any harm. TWICE. They were practically buddies, he could tell. "So you say start big, so the other doesn't get a chance? That hardly seems fair." Yeah, not fair man. And if you used your biggest weapon, what if it failed, and then you'd only have smaller ones to work with. So to speak.
Did she seee! Did she!! SHE DID! Zeke beamed, brilliant it was, apparently. And he could take that to mean that he too, by extension of the brilliant act, was also brilliant. Lex thought he was brilliant! "Thanks." Hehe.
A headshot though? That sounded harder, smaller target, "Sure... I can give it a go at least. My wand is good at learning me things," he added matter-of-factly.
He didn't take as long to compose himself this time, and his attention was already focused on the head of the dummy thing. It'd be cool to see it smash apart. "Bombarda!" he cast, anticipating the explosion at the other end.
Jasmine hoped that she was ready for whatever Cutty sent her way. Clearly he had avoided her spell, or had he? Why was he rubbing his ear so vigorously? "Carpe Rectractum!" The younger snake boy whipped his wand toward the closest thing to him, a practice dummy and flung it toward Jasmine's spell allowing it to catch whilst he moved behind it. "Oppugno!" He casted at the dummy. So long as it had been drug into their duel, he thought he'd might as well make more use of it. Still bound, the practice dummy made it's way toward the Ravie prefect with all speed.
